[00:03:07] It feels like Christmas Eve and Sand is bringing some footies for us.

[00:03:10] Yeah, he's going to bring us the two points, Josh.

[00:03:12] He's spoiler, but we'll get to that later on.

[00:03:15] This is mostly going to be a preview episode.

[00:03:18] We do have some mail to get through as well.

[00:03:20] And a few other treats for you.

[00:03:22] Seeing as it is Christmas Eve, as Josh said said but primarily we're here to talk about the game against the Warriors on Friday

[00:03:30] night six o'clock Sydney time and just the clock we're you're listening to from

[00:03:36] but Josh let's start with the team list and I thought it was a pretty healthy list

[00:03:41] we named on Tuesday afternoon at the the moment, the team hasn't changed.

[00:03:46] It may in the next few hours, we'll see what happens.

[00:03:49] When I say that, they're going to cut the team down and you may see a few changes that

[00:03:53] you may not.

[00:03:55] But the team of Kennedy, Catoa, Rami and Talakaim or Tarlow, Trindle, Hines, Forward

[00:04:00] starting, Kefussi, Brailey, Hunt Nickara, Wilson, McInnes, immediate bench of

[00:04:07] Dao Fonukun, Jack Williams, Toby Rudolph,

[00:04:10] Talt Hom Haseleton, extended bench, 18th man,

[00:04:13] at the moment, Kyle Iro, Tuka Hartsapua,

[00:04:16] Daniel Atkinson, Marwini Kharotti, and Jaden Berl.

[00:04:20] What are your thoughts on the team?

[00:04:23] I think it's the best team we could have named

[00:04:24] with everyone

[00:04:25] of eight with who was available. So really happy with the side.

[00:04:28] Really stoked that McInnes is starting.

[00:04:30] I was still a little nervous that maybe Fitz was going to give

[00:04:33] the day or the run, but it's really strong.

[00:04:36] It's a good competitive side.

[00:04:38] The make or break for the team will be that front rope pairing of

[00:04:41] hunt and kafusi.

[00:04:43] If they play well, it's going to go a long way to us

[00:04:46] get the two points.

[00:04:47] The back line has as it's been for a couple of years now

[00:04:50] as well.

[00:04:50] And Kennedy back, I can't wait to watch him.

[00:04:52] Yes, let's talk about the front row, Kefusi and Hunt

[00:04:55] at the moment have the job.

[00:04:57] We can kind of work out why.

[00:04:59] Pretty good preseason, both in the games they played,

[00:05:03] as well as their training.

[00:05:04] They're looking good, great attitude, as well as their training, they're looking good, great attitude,

[00:05:06] as well as some injuries, meaning they jump ahead.

[00:05:09] Tell me about Oric and Kefusi,

[00:05:11] what are you liking about him?

[00:05:12] I just like the, from what I've seen so far

[00:05:15] and especially in the preseason,

[00:05:17] looks like a lot more aggression in his game.

[00:05:19] Looks a bit angrier,

[00:05:20] and that's how I like my front rowers.

[00:05:24] Looks really big and fit as well.

[00:05:25] Looks fitter than he did last year.

[00:05:27] And obviously the hair, the crazy hair, that first hit up.

[00:05:30] I want to see it flying around with sweat and water going everywhere.

[00:05:33] This is, and it's a make or break year for him I think,

[00:05:36] for his shark career maybe his NRL career.

[00:05:38] So he's got a lot to prove and I just hope he kills it.

[00:05:43] And what about Rosie Hunt?

[00:05:44] Rosie looks fantastic. I just hope he kills it. And what about Rosie Hunt?

[00:05:45] Rosie looks fantastic.

[00:05:47] I loved what I've said.

[00:05:48] I liked his end of season last year and everything we've seen from him just absolutely ripping

[00:05:54] in.

[00:05:55] He looks like the engines a little bit bigger.

[00:05:59] Like the minutes I think he doesn't look so gas so early.

[00:06:02] And I love that the dimension he brings of that and so Kefusi confuses well that offload. He's always looking for an offload sometimes maybe too much

[00:06:09] But we need that we need that second phase play

[00:06:12] And I think that's when we play our best when Heinz maybe gets an offload to pass as wide with a staggered defensive line and

[00:06:19] Trindle as well likes to run to the line deep and if there's a staggered defensive line a little kick in behind

[00:06:24] Like it just gives us so many more options that's when we play our best and you obviously can just ball

[00:06:29] those guys and just leave scattered men everywhere so if they both play to that their their potential

[00:06:37] in that eight nine out of ten performance it goes a long way towards the swing in the game. You write about the offloads and the staggered defense.

[00:06:46] Our go-to play we know is the set play attacking probably to the left through Kennedy and go

[00:06:53] through the hands more taller in the corner.

[00:06:56] And they know when to activate that, when not to.

[00:06:58] We need more than that.

[00:07:00] And the offload as you say, it really helps when Hines gets the ball from an offload, as you say, it really helps. When Hines gets the ball from an offload,

[00:07:06] there's probably nothing better for us as shark fans.

[00:07:10] Do me a favor, watch that on the weekend everyone.

[00:07:12] When Hines gets an offload, the eyes go up.

[00:07:16] He plays heads up footy, eyes up footy.

[00:07:18] He's looking around, ball in hand, moving forward.

[00:07:21] He doesn't stay still.

[00:07:22] He already gets going, He knows something's happening.

[00:07:29] You spot on as long as they can control the offload. Don't push it when it's

[00:07:35] too risky. Obviously most offloads are risky, but if it's too risky, if it's not on, maybe it's not the time to do it in game one. But it is a part of the game I'm looking forward to

[00:07:41] with those guys. And we've already seen Kefusi with some really a couple of really killer offloads in the in the

[00:07:48] preseason. I'm super excited about the return of Teague Wilton. What do you

[00:07:52] think about that? Yeah I can't wait I love Teague. I know he's got his

[00:07:56] doubters with the with his defensive capabilities at times but I think he's

[00:08:00] just such a reliable consistent 80 minute guy And I think I've said it before, I think he's a player that plays better when he's playing 80 minutes.

[00:08:10] I think he's got the engine for it. Just runs those suicide lines all day.

[00:08:15] Probably Moreland set him up with a few hospital balls last year from doing it,

[00:08:20] but he's always running that line. It's a different line though to Nakora,

[00:08:24] where it's more like that crash line at's a different line that's in the core,

[00:08:25] where it's more like that crash line at the line

[00:08:27] as opposed to an in and out off the right foot.

[00:08:30] And I think he's just starting to come into that age

[00:08:32] where he's not a baby anymore.

[00:08:35] I think he's 24, 25 now.

[00:08:37] The body's filled out.

[00:08:39] He's had a long break, so he should be nice and fresh.

[00:08:42] And I still think he's a potential future

[00:08:45] origin player. I think he's got that temperament and that playstyle, the

[00:08:49] grittiness like he always comes off battered and bruised. He's a shark, he's

[00:08:53] you know he's debuted with this he's played 60-yard games and I really like him

[00:08:56] and I think this is the year you might take that next step. The key to ask the

[00:08:59] key to any team as we saw in 2016 is to stay injury free they can't control that

[00:09:03] but if

[00:09:05] T Wilton plays the majority of the year, if Will Kennedy plays majority of the year,

[00:09:09] if Niko Hines plays five more games last year, we're so far into that competition,

[00:09:15] it's not funny. So I think this year that's the difference that we're looking for.

[00:09:19] It's going to give us the next step up as well as a bit more of a sting in defense,

[00:09:24] which we saw towards the end of the year.

[00:09:26] And he's gonna be a massive part of that. And I'm happy he's just straight in. There's no kind

[00:09:30] of arming and arming. There's no suggestion that someone else was gonna take his spot.

[00:09:34] There are other guys that could fill in, but he's the best guy for the job. We've seen that before.

[00:09:39] He essentially has been groomed under weight gram and that there's not much more of an accolade.

[00:09:44] You can get them that.

[00:09:45] No.

[00:09:51] And I think what I'm most looking forward to is how he defends now a trindle next to him.

[00:09:53] Because I don't think he played many games. He might have played four games with trindles as he's as he's six.

[00:09:57] So I'm looking forward to having that off season of connection with them next to each other.

[00:10:01] Because the trindles are much better defender and a better reader of defense.

[00:10:04] So and I think he's probably louder than Moiland. So I'd

[00:10:08] be very interested to see how that left edge stacks up defensively. It could all

[00:10:11] fall apart, I don't know, but I'm just looking forward to see how it goes.

[00:10:15] I don't think it will. I mean we saw when trindle came in last year after a

[00:10:19] week or two it really steadied. That was without TIG I believe. Is that correct?

[00:10:23] There was no TIG at that point.

[00:10:25] Yeah, I think TIG went,

[00:10:26] it actually was in this game last year against the Warriors

[00:10:29] when he did his shoulders.

[00:10:30] So he's gone straight back to where it all happened.

[00:10:33] So I don't, yeah, I think you missed that.

[00:10:35] So it will be a new combination in theory,

[00:10:38] but I think that it'll be a lot stronger

[00:10:43] than what we saw at the worst parts of last year.

[00:10:45] So that's also a positive for us.

[00:10:47] What did you make if the Warriors line up?

[00:10:51] It's pretty good.

[00:10:53] It's pretty good.

[00:10:54] There are parts where it's like amazing and parts where it kind of goes.

[00:10:56] Well, it's workable.

[00:10:57] I'm really happy that, who's their normal fullback?

[00:11:01] I can't remember his name.

[00:11:02] Chansu O'Clockstad.

[00:11:03] I'm really glad he's not playing. They've got the young kid. I haven't I don't remember seeing him play. He had played five games last year

[00:11:10] So still a bit of a rookie that helps because Sharn's had a fantastic you last year

[00:11:15] Absolutely murdered us both games that he played. I think you ran over 200 meters both games against his last year or thereabouts

[00:11:22] So that's a massive plus for us. But the, I mean, you look at the side, like that back line is, is deadly with from Montoya,

[00:11:29] D.W.Z. Barry's a really good player, RTS back looks incredible. Yeah, really, really

[00:11:36] were nervous about that. But yeah, it's a really good side. It'd be hard to beat over there.

[00:11:41] I think, I think Barry has some defensive weaknesses

[00:11:45] that I've seen over the years.

[00:11:46] And he would be my target for the Sharks,

[00:11:50] because the rest of them are fairly solid.

[00:11:52] Although, DWS at defense isn't amazing.

[00:11:56] So if you can hit up those two, I think that's where you go,

[00:12:00] you should be afraid of RTS.

[00:12:02] He's everything they say, he's everything you see. Like he's

[00:12:06] already had two pretty warm up games and coming off a couple years of rugby where he's not doing

[00:12:11] that much. He looks good. He looks fit. He'd be hungry to start well for his team. What do you

[00:12:19] make of the halves? Former Sharks, Mick, Carp and Johnson, that there's definitely danger there, but there's also, again, I think there's weakness as well.

[00:12:28] Yeah, look, I mean, Sean's never been a fantastic defender.

[00:12:31] He's no mug by any means,

[00:12:33] but he's, you know, he's another year older, 33 now,

[00:12:36] so he'd be the guy I'd be going at

[00:12:39] just to tire him out of anything,

[00:12:41] just to get scrambled that brain a little bit.

[00:12:43] I think the most important thing is to

[00:12:45] Not go away from whatever the plan is if the plan is to go at Sean

[00:12:49] Then you go at him all day if it's at Metcalfe you go there or they don't go away from that

[00:12:53] I think and I think with the the games last year we versed them

[00:12:55] But in particular we never really built enough pressure and sustained pressure in in opposition's ends. Yeah, I think we need to that's

[00:13:02] If we're going to win this game

[00:13:04] We need to have a lot of ball in their 20,

[00:13:06] just consistently at them.

[00:13:08] Metcalfe, we know fast, elusive, good ball in hand.

[00:13:13] Small frame though, so if we can get

[00:13:15] the core running at that inside shoulder,

[00:13:17] if that's, I'm not sure what edgy is actually,

[00:13:19] but if that's the, what either way, Teagle, Britain,

[00:13:22] they need to be at that inside shoulder all day,

[00:13:24] trying to drag them in,

[00:13:26] and then go out the back when necessary.

[00:13:27] So yeah, Sean, but Sean still worries me.

[00:13:30] Isn't that as quick as he used to be?

[00:13:31] But he's still good.

[00:13:32] Yeah, unfortunately, Matt Koff is as quick

[00:13:34] as he would have used to be.

[00:13:35] So he cannot get any open space.

[00:13:38] Looking at their forwards,

[00:13:40] I mean, we've got our friend,

[00:13:41] Finoeblak leading the pack,

[00:13:43] and he's gonna be everything new. Think's gonna be he's just I've no doubt he'll be the one of

[00:13:49] the form props this year thankfully coming to us next year good off-load

[00:13:54] just a powerful runner we'll have to have a few guys on him Wade Egan's

[00:14:00] serviceable dummy half like he's tough and five zero issues issues with him as He's a big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big,

[00:14:05] big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big,

[00:14:12] big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big,

[00:14:17] big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big so tired. He's got a big motor, but he just hopefully

[00:14:28] we get him on a day where he's just sort of workmen like I keep using that word, but

[00:14:33] Kirk Capewell, Jackson Ford, they sort of fit in that same category. So the pack, if

[00:14:37] you take Fennuab like out of it, I think really evens out. I think with him there, there's

[00:14:42] no shame in saying they have the better pack,

[00:14:49] but that's one guy. If you take him out or when he's off the field at least,

[00:14:51] I think there are chances for us to really dominate. Yeah, I think Torra Harris is held together by stringing tape and needles and not much

[00:14:59] training. But when he gets on the field, he gives it everything. He's very kamikinis like

[00:15:03] and then you just go even Though he can't breathe so

[00:15:06] He's not so much a threat in attack. It's just that defense he will lock up that middle

[00:15:12] Doesn't miss many tackles Jackson Ford actually really like I think he's a really good back rower and he's young and he's had a great year

[00:15:18] Last year. I think he's got a couple tries against us too

[00:15:21] Cape all doesn't worry me

[00:15:23] He looks really slow and old,

[00:15:25] if I'm being completely honest.

[00:15:27] He looks like me playing footy.

[00:15:30] He's got that thing where he can cause damage when he runs.

[00:15:34] His friend of the show, great lad, great shark.

[00:15:38] I don't fear him at all.

[00:15:39] No, when you're looking at the tip sheet,

[00:15:40] you're not, Kurt Capal is probably not one

[00:15:42] of the top five guys you're looking at.

[00:15:44] I'm not saying he's not a bad player by any way.

[00:15:46] We've seen him, we've seen him a lot of origin,

[00:15:48] like he can do it.

[00:15:49] Yeah.

[00:15:50] Yeah.

[00:15:51] So it's a strong pack, but like you said, besides

[00:15:53] for Nul Blake, no one goes, I go, oh my God,

[00:15:57] like we're going to get rolled in the middle,

[00:15:59] but we've said that before and it's happened.

[00:16:00] So I think that's why it's so important that Royce

[00:16:03] and Oregon lay that

[00:16:05] foundation early to let them know that we're here and we're not going to get mugged and

[00:16:08] we're not going to get pushed around. And I think Royce just looks really fired up this

[00:16:13] year. I don't think he's going to let that happen. He's going to, you know, he's going

[00:16:16] to have a few comments here and there and he's going to let him know and he's going to throw

[00:16:19] off loads. He's going to try and smash guys. And he has to because we need him. We need

[00:16:24] him to. Yeah.

[00:16:29] I mean, the worry is bench, probably highlighted by a bunch of followers, a guy you'd never want to tackle.

[00:16:32] But look at our bench.

[00:16:33] So if for whatever reason, hunt and or confuse your struggling, okay,

[00:16:38] Delphin, who can come on and do some solid work, but you have Jack

[00:16:42] Williams, Toby Rudolph and Tom Hazleton.

[00:16:50] And that's where the help comes as far as getting out of you, your own yard. So,

[00:16:57] so much too worried there if we can hold the warriors to little or no points in the first quarter of the game, because those guys coming on will, I think, really bring the energy and really help

[00:17:02] with the meters as well as, you know, you've got kamikinis there, teg's no slouch.

[00:17:07] So it's not like, while it is on the front row to do their job, absolutely.

[00:17:13] It's probably not the end of the world if they're starting off and they're not lighting

[00:17:17] it up for whatever reason, hopefully they are.

[00:17:19] But there is a bit of help there, which is good, which is a bit less worrying for us as fans.

[00:17:27] Do you think Dan Atkinson becomes our 18th man or do you think that stick with Kyle Iro?

[00:17:31] I think they might stick with Iro just because it just gives it, I know Atkinson is, and I know we've said about it in our previous pod,

[00:17:40] that Atkinson gives us more positions.

[00:17:42] I just have a feeling they're going to and wanna keep Eero as close as possible

[00:17:45] just to keep him interested in playing well.

[00:17:48] I'll try and play well when he's not 18th man.

[00:17:51] But yeah, I just think I'll stick with that, which is fine.

[00:17:54] I also wasn't really impressed with Atkinson

[00:17:56] the preseason, which I end.

[00:17:59] Yeah.

[00:18:00] It was disappointing because I do think he has a lot of talent,

[00:18:02] but he just, there was a few things I saw in his game

[00:18:04] that just showed me that he's not quite ready yet.

[00:18:07] As a starting half though, that's a bit different, right?

[00:18:11] That's what he was doing.

[00:18:11] For sure. For sure.

[00:18:13] I just think there's probably not many other places he'd come on the field for,

[00:18:17] whereas Eryka probably come and play fullback wing and center better than Atkinson.

[00:18:21] Okay.

[00:18:22] And we've got the cup, we've got the fourth board bench.

[00:18:24] So we can

[00:18:25] cover the four.

[00:18:26] Well, by the time this is out, if not after, we will know who's been cut from the team

[00:18:30] and who hasn't. So check your team list. As far as some of the stats go, Joshi, fairly

[00:18:37] even against the Warriors. Historically, we've had the better run, although lately, they

[00:18:43] won both games last year,

[00:18:45] memorable games for them, one was memorable for us, both they both were

[00:18:49] actually. The second game, they won 44 to 12, a real smacking, the most ever

[00:18:59] points against us by them and their biggest win against us. But unfortunately

[00:19:04] the worst memories in round five

[00:19:06] where we were leading by 20 points in the 30th minute

[00:19:10] and we let that go.

[00:19:12] We walked home in the rain.

[00:19:14] It was not one of the better moments in Shark Park.

[00:19:18] Probably top 10 worst moments of Shark Park.

[00:19:21] I agreed, it was not fun.

[00:19:22] I could probably even bring that down low

[00:19:24] if I really thought about it.

[00:19:25] But I'm just going to stick with top top 10 worst.

[00:19:29] But anyway, I'm assuming, I know,

[00:19:32] that that really stung with the club and with the players

[00:19:35] and with the coaching staff.

[00:19:36] So I'm sure it's in the back of their mind.

[00:19:38] Most times when they're leading, if not,

[00:19:40] when they play the Warriors, we've lost the last two

[00:19:43] in New Zealand, so

[00:19:45] looking to turn that around. Overall though, good record against them and

[00:19:48] aside from last year, very strong record. So as far as the Warriors go, they won 17

[00:19:54] games last year. Josh, their best season since 2003. They won eight out of 10

[00:19:59] games in Auckland. They scored 30 plus eight times. They conceded under 20 points per

[00:20:07] game for the first time in about five or six years so they were on defensively

[00:20:12] and offensively as well. I know that the round one curse is one we always bring

[00:20:19] up and we do have the worst record in round one, the past 10 seasons.

[00:20:25] It was us and Manly, but Manly won in Vegas.

[00:20:28] So now it's just us.

[00:20:29] The only win was in 2021 against the drags.

[00:20:33] The Warriors, another hand, if you care about this stuff,

[00:20:36] the Warriors, they've won five of their past seven

[00:20:40] round one matches, so they know how to start a season.

[00:20:42] So we'll see how that goes.

[00:20:44] We know all about the Sharky season last year. It was up and down. It was a bit hit and miss.

[00:20:50] Our boy Jack Williams, 100th NRO game Josh. Great milestone for him off contract. So looking

[00:20:56] to, I would imagine, stay at Cronella. I know that if he wouldn't stay at Cronella would

[00:21:01] be out of the clubs lining up to get him. So he'll be fine, whatever happens. But I'd imagine he wants to stay in the shire and I'm pretty sure we wouldn't stay as well.

[00:21:09] Just a matter of working out how to do it.

[00:21:11] I think he's going to be an important part of the 17 this year.

[00:21:14] Josh, I know people are a bit undecided on him.

[00:21:17] They either like him or don't.

[00:21:19] But we like him.

[00:21:21] What are you thoughts on Jack Williams?

[00:21:22] Hundredth game coming up.

[00:21:23] Yeah.

[00:21:24] Massive milestone for him. Love Jack from thoughts on Jack Williams? 100th game coming up. Yeah, massive milestone for him.

[00:21:25] Love Jack.

[00:21:27] Even from his first game to now,

[00:21:29] it's been a really big journey for him.

[00:21:31] With some of the up and downs of his career,

[00:21:33] he was earmarked as the Paul Galen replacement at 13.

[00:21:38] I think he's actually playing the best footy of his career

[00:21:40] at the moment.

[00:21:41] I don't want to lose him whatsoever.

[00:21:43] I think he's in a crucial part of our team. He's got such a great leg drive. He's aggressive. He's quick too. He's

[00:21:50] pretty fast. He's made some big breaks before. He's going to be really important tomorrow.

[00:21:55] We're going to need him to play well because he just gives us such impact. A massive congrats

[00:21:59] to him. I know he's had a couple of really tough years there, especially with his hands.

[00:22:04] He was smashed from pillar to post online and I'm glad to see people have come

[00:22:08] around and him is still people that seem to doubt him.

[00:22:10] I don't know why.

[00:22:11] And if they've watched the last two, three years of him, he's I could have been

[00:22:14] a best forward in two years in a row.

[00:22:16] So because out there and kills it on his hundreds and the boys can get a win for him.

[00:22:19] I think some people just, you know, you have a thought about someone or something

[00:22:23] and you you unable to let that go

[00:22:26] or change your mind, which is not fair at all.

[00:22:29] But the handling thing is such a, I'm going to say misunderstood kind of stat.

[00:22:35] Like he drops some ball one year.

[00:22:38] It was more about when he did it rather than how many times he did it.

[00:22:41] And that was a while ago.

[00:22:43] And he's improved that so much.

[00:22:45] And it's sort of the point now where if he drops a ball

[00:22:49] and you're at the game, like there'll be someone

[00:22:50] around you going, oh, okay.

[00:22:51] It's like, well, yeah, typical Jack

[00:23:04] in a lot of people's minds. Thankfully he's turned that around, which is great. I think so too, yeah.

[00:23:05] See how he goes on Friday night.

[00:23:08] Rinalo Militz-Halo, he needs one try to equal the great Valentino homes for the six-month

[00:23:14] tries of the shark, which is 66 tries.

[00:23:19] And his three tries off fifth place, so he would jump ahead of Sysfekki and Val with three tries.

[00:23:27] So he's climbing up the ranks. Last year, Karirihai 21 in 23 games. I think that you

[00:23:34] and I at least would agree it wasn't one of his better years.

[00:23:37] No, I think he's actually got him as someone that needs to lift this year and I haven't

[00:23:42] been overly impressed with his trial form either.

[00:23:45] I'm not worried about Ronnie, I know he's got it,

[00:23:46] he's a gun.

[00:23:48] But we're just now, I think we just need

[00:23:49] a little bit more from him.

[00:23:50] And Cioni's kind of, for me,

[00:23:53] overtaking him as the better winger in the side

[00:23:56] at the moment.

[00:23:56] I think Ronnie's a better player overall.

[00:23:59] But that's why I'm probably a little harsh on him

[00:24:01] because I know how good he is.

[00:24:02] So I'm hoping for a big game for him tomorrow.

[00:24:04] He's gonna to be pumped.

[00:24:05] You know, he's going to be talking smack and he's going to want to go over there

[00:24:09] and rip the shirt off and do all the bits and pieces.

[00:24:12] So we're like, but we need something from him.

[00:24:13] I mean, even even Katawa is not that far below him.

[00:24:16] So I think they're both in a lot of ways, not underrated by us as fans,

[00:24:22] but we should have done.

[00:24:24] Like in my head, Cioni's a new player.

[00:24:26] You know what I mean?

[00:24:26] When I was a new player, but they've been around for a while and they've

[00:24:29] scored a lot of tries.

[00:24:30] So they're doing, they're doing super well.

[00:24:33] And, you know, we know if one of them goes down, we got Sam Stone

[00:24:37] Street and the wings have got Caliara.

[00:24:38] We've got Moini Harati, but we're hoping these two guys just light it up all

[00:24:42] year because they're our guys.

[00:24:43] So I want to see, and I'll probably say this every game from here on in, I want to see

[00:24:48] Brad and Trindlika 4020.

[00:24:50] He got three last year and he played 13 games.

[00:24:53] So he had three and 13 games.

[00:24:55] I think that's going to be a really big weapon for us this year.

[00:24:58] I mean, he's already kicked one this year technically in the trials.

[00:25:00] He got one against the dog.

[00:25:01] So he's already on the board technically.

[00:25:05] He's a fantastic kicker.

[00:25:06] And by far the best kicker at the club, I know Nico is a great kicker, but Trindle for

[00:25:11] a pretty little guy, he's got a big boot on him and he's accurate.

[00:25:15] And we need to utilise that more.

[00:25:17] And I think plays into that whole taking a bit of pressure off Nico, having a guy that

[00:25:21] can kick better than him in the side.

[00:25:23] Nico can just plot and scheme and doesn't have to be there at the fifth.

[00:25:27] He can take a run on the fourth and it's not a killer to the set.

[00:25:32] He could kick five or six for you 20s this year.

[00:25:34] He plays the whole season.

[00:25:36] Nico has a massive boot on him.

[00:25:38] We saw that.

[00:25:38] We noticed that in his first year.

[00:25:40] He got us out of trouble.

[00:25:42] A trindle is more accurate, as you said.

[00:25:45] He's got the distance and the accuracy.

[00:25:48] So it's awesome that we have players

[00:25:50] either side of the field that can do that.

[00:25:52] We do want to see Blake step up a little bit more

[00:25:54] and kick a bit more.

[00:25:55] I don't know if it's going to happen or not,

[00:25:56] but hopefully it does.

[00:25:57] Just the fact that, I mean, we know Matt Moillan

[00:26:01] probably was a better, well, definitely,

[00:26:03] was a better attacking player than Trindall.

[00:26:06] Like his bread and butter was setting up tries.

[00:26:08] We know that he couldn't kick.

[00:26:09] Like let's admit it.

[00:26:10] Like he got better.

[00:26:12] I thought in his last two years,

[00:26:14] he got a lot better with his kicking.

[00:26:16] But-

[00:26:17] Sure, kicking game was fine.

[00:26:18] Sure, okay.

[00:26:19] Yeah, that's fair.

[00:26:20] As far as general kicking overall,

[00:26:22] I would say not a strength.

[00:26:24] In comes Trendle.

[00:26:25] And OK, you might lose a little bit of that attacking edge in the sense that

[00:26:30] Trendle's fine as an attacking player, but he doesn't have that kind of touch

[00:26:33] footy thing going on. Whereas he brings in the kicking game and that's going to

[00:26:38] just help so much with Nico's game.

[00:26:39] I can't wait for Nico not to have to do everything.

[00:26:42] Yeah, I think that's probably the most exciting thing for me for the year period is just

[00:26:46] having two genuine halves that can kick, that can run, that can defend.

[00:26:51] And I mean, Trindall had from the Mysatz, they might be different yours.

[00:26:56] He had six tri-system four triers in the 13 games.

[00:26:59] So it's not like he can't set them up.

[00:27:01] Absolutely.

[00:27:01] I know you weren't saying that, but he got that she's like that sure ball with him and

[00:27:06] Teague is gonna be really fun to watch this year. I think he's gonna set up teague and Sifar with a lot of tries and

[00:27:13] He hasn't been someone typically who's gone for that big, you know hero cut out ball that Nico can do

[00:27:18] I think we're gonna see that a little bit more from Braden with this year with a bit of confidence

[00:27:22] Just having him there with a whole preseason,

[00:27:25] I just can't wait to see how that develops over 25 rounds.

[00:27:29] They've already sort of hinted the fact

[00:27:32] that it's gonna be, you know, work in progress,

[00:27:35] but it doesn't mean we can't look forward to Friday night

[00:27:38] and expect some some good things.

[00:27:40] And my whole thing about Friday night, Josh,

[00:27:42] is that it's go time. Like it's not...

[00:27:45] And the coach said it in his press conference this morning,

[00:27:49] or yesterday, whenever he did it,

[00:27:51] it's no longer a thing where we ease our weight into the season.

[00:27:54] Oh, we're slow starters.

[00:27:55] It's like, that's PS.

[00:27:57] It's time to go, throw the stats out the window,

[00:28:00] throw the records out the window, under fits Gibbon.

[00:28:03] I believe we're owing to start the window, throw the records out the window. Underfits given, I believe we're owing to start the season, but at least performance-wise, they haven't been blown out of the park.

[00:28:11] So this year, tough ask to go over there, but it doesn't matter. Like, does their job

[00:28:16] go over there and win? I think that we've got a good chance. I've been going to be close.

[00:28:20] I don't think either team's going to blow one or other off the park, but I see no reason why we can't do it. And yeah, we're missing a couple of guys. So what, you're

[00:28:29] going to be missing guys all year. So are they? Yeah, yeah, they are. They are. So looking

[00:28:34] forward to it. Can't wait. Six o'clock Sydney time. Yeah, it's just going to be fun to

[00:28:39] have the real thing back on a weekly, weekly grind. We're already in the grind on the podcast

[00:28:44] in a good way.

[00:28:45] It's a positive thing. And Josh, I want to say thanks to everyone who's been watching and listening

[00:28:50] and getting in touch with us. We have got a bit of mail to get through, which we'll do now.

[00:28:54] And yeah, feedback's been awesome. And we just love hearing from people and some really good

[00:29:00] takes today, Josh. So, Michael, have you ever seen any of these or heard any of these? So,

[00:29:04] no, I haven't. So listen, listen,

[00:29:06] well, my friend, and I'm just going to look at the screen

[00:29:08] because that's what I'm doing. No one freaked out.

[00:29:11] First one's from Andrew, and he says,

[00:29:14] been listening to the pod for about three years.

[00:29:16] Think you guys are great. So thank you for that.

[00:29:18] I've been living in Las Vegas for the past 17 years.

[00:29:22] Whoa. Went to the footy here last weekend,

[00:29:25] thought it was great, really hopeful

[00:29:27] the Sharks come here next season.

[00:29:29] Been a Sharks fans since I was five years old.

[00:29:31] I was lucky enough to meet the great Barry Andrews

[00:29:34] when he was young, back in the 70s Josh,

[00:29:37] before you were around.

[00:29:40] Just wanted to say hello, introduce myself,

[00:29:42] listening all the way from Vegas.

[00:29:44] The pot is great, keep it up.

[00:29:45] That's from Andrew.

[00:29:46] His daughter is six and loves the sharks.

[00:29:49] And he also sent some photos from a Legion stadium

[00:29:53] and they're wrapping the black, white and blue.

[00:29:55] So this not only is amazing, it also answers

[00:29:59] Cameron Webb's question from the other night

[00:30:01] about whether there are any kids in the stadium.

[00:30:04] I see a kid, I see Andrew's daughter and she's wrapping us.

[00:30:07] So that's awesome. Andrew, don't be a stranger and also don't be surprised one

[00:30:12] day when I rock up and need somewhere to crash in Las Vegas.

[00:30:15] Thanks so much for being in touch. Really appreciate it and tell all your

[00:30:20] Vegas friends about Chuck, cast pod. What do you think about that Josh?

[00:30:24] I love that. I love hearing people's stories about when they started becoming Tell all your Vegas friends about Chuck, cast the pod. What do you mean about that Josh?

[00:30:25] I love that.

[00:30:26] I love hearing people's stories about when they started

[00:30:28] becoming fans and passing on to their kids.

[00:30:30] Like that's stuff that's what it's all about.

[00:30:33] At the end of the day, like the footy is obviously important,

[00:30:35] but the connection you have with a community

[00:30:37] or a club and spreading that to your family,

[00:30:39] that's the stuff that I love.

[00:30:40] So it was really good to hear that.

[00:30:41] Yeah.

[00:30:42] Next up we had Stephen and we do have about

[00:30:45] 48,000 Stevens that right into us. This is a Steven but you're just going to keep it at that.

[00:30:50] We're not going to do surnames or anything unless they say we can. But Steven got in touch via the

[00:30:54] Insta and this is a really, really good note from him. He said, with love and respect,

[00:31:01] you've been hanging a bit of, you know what, on our number one ticket holder, albeit in an understated way.

[00:31:07] I get that Skomo's not everyone's cup of tea, as will always be the case with politicians.

[00:31:12] He didn't appoint himself to this position, and I think he's held up his number one ticket responsibility as well.

[00:31:21] He lifted the profile of the club and vocally supported the team, did his bit with sponsors and corporates.

[00:31:27] I'd like to offer up the possibly unpopular view on shark cast. He did a great job.

[00:31:32] Say, thank you and hope the next number one ticket holder can do as well.

[00:31:37] He says, thanks for the pod. Absolutely love it. And then I answered, you know what?

[00:31:41] I'm just gonna tell you what I answered. Josh, I said, I completely respect your opinion on that.

[00:31:45] And that's why we don't talk about politics in the show.

[00:31:49] I apologize if anything was offensive to you.

[00:31:52] That's my opinion on him.

[00:31:53] More as a politician than a shark's ticket holder.

[00:31:55] I appreciate you taking the time.

[00:31:57] Something about what you thought. Yeah.

[00:31:58] And then he replied back or good.

[00:32:02] I said, I'm not political by nature,

[00:32:03] but I actually got to know the Morrison's personally.

[00:32:06] And first hand, know that he really values

[00:32:08] the honor of the ticket holder.

[00:32:10] It was really good to get some critical feedback.

[00:32:13] It confirms what I absolutely believe.

[00:32:16] We all have so many different thoughts on everything.

[00:32:20] We should probably stick it to rugby league

[00:32:22] and a little bit of music.

[00:32:24] And I definitely was having some digs at the number one ticket holder.

[00:32:27] I do think personally it's time to move on because of for 8,000 different reasons.

[00:32:32] But, absolutely take Steve's point that if I really sit and think about it,

[00:32:36] and if you make me say it, he actually kind of did his role pretty good.

[00:32:42] Just wanted to get out there. Thanks Steve for that.

[00:32:44] Thanks for the

[00:32:46] client words as well. Really appreciate it. Joshy, we had Evan tell us on the X. The team is as

[00:32:53] expected. I'm glad Cam is starting. Hopefully, Kefusi and Hunt can lay down a solid foundation before

[00:32:58] four monster bench players come into the game. Hashtag up up, that's from Evan.

[00:33:05] And we all sort of agree with that for sure.

[00:33:08] And we posted about the team Josh, as you would have seen,

[00:33:11] we had a lot of replies and some we didn't get to,

[00:33:14] I believe, for example, David said,

[00:33:17] I'm happy with the squad is so consistent.

[00:33:20] They perform so good when they're on.

[00:33:22] It's a great foundation round one team.

[00:33:24] Tough road trip, full respect to the Warriors.

[00:33:26] It'd be a good test for our season.

[00:33:29] Look forward to the game up up.

[00:33:31] Our friend Danny wrote,

[00:33:33] good lineup solid bench, good extended bench.

[00:33:36] Looking forward to a monster pack coming off.

[00:33:37] Quality choice using the McKinness at 13.

[00:33:40] Hopefully it stays this way for the season.

[00:33:43] There's a lot of talk Josh about that bench so

[00:33:45] we really need it to fire because it looks like it's the way he's going to go right a big bench

[00:33:50] for the year. I think so. Who could you see coming on as a utility like realistically?

[00:33:57] Well I think that if they stake their claim in New South Wales Cup form I I think a Dijks and Iro possibly in Atkinson could do it.

[00:34:07] Or if they needed a player to cover someone, so for example if one of them was playing injured,

[00:34:14] then one of those guys might sit there. But I think other than that,

[00:34:18] he might go with the old Shark Cast pod model of four big forwards.

[00:34:22] Maybe it's a warriors thing, maybe it's a way to control the warriors.

[00:34:24] I don't know.

[00:34:25] We'd probably have to ask the great Fitzgibbon himself,

[00:34:27] but the fans are definitely frothing over the bench.

[00:34:30] Yeah.

[00:34:31] And so there should be.

[00:34:32] I just think as well, like we've still got ULA

[00:34:34] and eventually down the track,

[00:34:35] Cole Hoon to come back.

[00:34:37] Yeah.

[00:34:37] That's two more spots that are gonna be being fought over.

[00:34:40] ULA you'd think is definitely gonna come back in the size.

[00:34:42] If someone good there is already gonna miss out. And then you can't also try and fit a

[00:34:47] utility there too. Possibly two of these guys are going to miss out.

[00:34:51] So who would you think? Well, you, Ellie, I think starts when he's fit. But yeah, I mean,

[00:34:56] I think maybe it's up to Kefu see to really kind of keep that jumper. And I'm not suggesting

[00:35:03] you can't. I think you can but it's kind of,

[00:35:07] I know every year we start the season and we do the podcast previews and we're like,

[00:35:10] man, we got so many good forwards but this year kind of looks healthy like for the first time in

[00:35:14] a while. I could actually realistically, once they're all there, it looks kind of like we have

[00:35:20] enough guys to cover us for the season. So hopefully it's the case.

[00:35:23] And I love Toby on the bench.

[00:35:24] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:35:26] Love that.

[00:35:27] Our mate Cleave has been in touch,

[00:35:29] said, absolute as perfect a squad as we can get it.

[00:35:34] I had bigger hopes for Iro and his trial form

[00:35:37] to push Telekite to the bench or the forwards,

[00:35:40] but he didn't step up.

[00:35:42] And we kind of all agree on that too.

[00:35:44] What else have I got here?

[00:35:47] Yes, we have a note from David. He said, thanks for the pod, always classy and insightful,

[00:35:53] so thank you very much for that. Onto the important stuff, the RMY PC port hacking and the great

[00:36:01] garlic bread debate. I haven't heard of late the free garlic bread mentioned.

[00:36:05] I know it's not super important,

[00:36:07] but would like to know if it's still a thing.

[00:36:09] Thanks up the sharks.

[00:36:11] I'll tell you one day how I met Laurie Nichols

[00:36:13] on my way to the 1978 grand final of the sharks.

[00:36:16] Well, I look forward to that tail.

[00:36:19] As far as the garlic bread debate goes, there's no debate.

[00:36:24] A lot of their staff know about it.

[00:36:25] If they look at you and go, what's a shark cusp pod,

[00:36:28] you just say, I want to speak to the manager.

[00:36:30] I want to speak to Liam.

[00:36:31] In fact, you can name drop Liam.

[00:36:32] Say Liam said, I get free garlic bread

[00:36:35] because I mentioned shark cusp pod

[00:36:37] at the Royal Motoyot Club in Port Hacking

[00:36:40] where we love hanging out, love having a good time.

[00:36:43] And the reason you're not hearing it David is because somehow through the magic of technology,

[00:36:49] I managed to wipe part of that advertisement, which is pre-recorded.

[00:36:55] I managed to wipe it that bit in the middle.

[00:36:58] So I was getting messages going, hey, there's like 10 seconds of silence in the ad.

[00:37:02] And I'm like, oh, that's a pickle.

[00:37:04] So I just got rid of it

[00:37:05] and I have to do another one obviously.

[00:37:07] But that's why there's no garlic bread mentioned.

[00:37:09] But it is important and I'm glad you brought it up.

[00:37:12] Josh, I think that might be all the mail.

[00:37:14] If there is more mail, we'll get to it for sure.

[00:37:17] Definitely getting in touch with us

[00:37:18] at Shark House Pod on the social,

[00:37:20] sharkuspotageemail.com for the emails and we'd love to hear from you post game about what you thought, what went down, what was good, what was not so good.

[00:37:32] What's your prediction for the game Josh? Who do you think's going play really well for us. If they play well,

[00:37:47] I think we'll go a long way towards us winning. I'm going to say the Sharks, even though maybe

[00:37:52] if I look deep within myself, I think we might lose, but I'm going to be positive because it's

[00:37:57] round one and it's one more sleep. So I'm going to say the Sharks are going to win 20 to 12 and

[00:38:02] braid and Trindle with a man of the match to start the year to solidify the six.

[00:38:06] Okay, I like that.

[00:38:08] I don't think you're not being positive saying,

[00:38:11] I think we might lose by four.

[00:38:13] That's not negative, it's A negative,

[00:38:16] but I don't think it's negative.

[00:38:17] But I appreciate what you're saying.

[00:38:19] I think it'll be close to, I think that we'll win.

[00:38:21] I think by about four points unfortunately,

[00:38:23] I think it'll be pretty tight. I have no idea really what the score line's gonna be because I think that will win I think by about four points unfortunately I think it'll be pretty tight I have no idea really what the score line is going to be

[00:38:26] because I think that will defend pretty good I think that we can score some

[00:38:30] points they can score some points their defense was a lot better last year than

[00:38:34] what it was you might be in the right ballpark there I mean you think the

[00:38:38] weather would be okayish this time of the year or that it will be nighttime a

[00:38:41] bit more wet I think it'll be something like,

[00:38:45] I might steal your thunder and just sort of say,

[00:38:47] the shark's gonna win 24-20.

[00:38:49] I think it'd be something like that.

[00:38:50] I'd take that.

[00:38:51] Yeah, I'd take it too.

[00:38:52] My players to look out for, I think will be Will Kennedy

[00:38:56] and probably, I'm looking at the halves.

[00:38:59] Yeah, let's go halves.

[00:39:00] Let's go Niko and let's go Trindall.

[00:39:02] Let's put him under the pump here.

[00:39:04] And as the coach said in his press-up,

[00:39:07] it doesn't matter how many points we win,

[00:39:08] why we just want to win.

[00:39:09] We want to walk away with two points.

[00:39:11] That's it.

[00:39:11] And we're playing the win, no more excuses.

[00:39:13] No more of this round one stuff.

[00:39:15] Just go out there and win.

[00:39:17] It's what you are supposed to do, go out there and win.

[00:39:20] Josh, we're going to leave it there

[00:39:22] unless you have more information for us, more thoughts,

[00:39:25] more opinions.

[00:39:26] No, I'm good to go.

[00:39:27] That was a lot of fun.

[00:39:28] I'm even more excited than I was before now.

[00:39:30] I hope everyone else is too.

[00:39:32] Excellent.

[00:39:33] I hope they are too.

[00:39:34] I hope they've been enjoying our pods.

[00:39:36] We've been trying to drop them as much as we can to get you all pumped up.

[00:39:40] And this one's going to be great.

[00:39:42] Round one, warriors.

[00:39:43] It's going to be cool. Round one, Warriors, it's gonna be cool.

[00:39:45] We're gonna win.

[00:39:47] We do have a little extra bonus for everyone.

[00:39:51] I was lucky enough to hang out with our friend Dan Nichols

[00:39:54] a couple of nights ago.

[00:39:55] And we recorded a couple of segments

[00:39:58] for his rugby league outlaw show.

[00:40:01] Terry was not around, so I stepped in

[00:40:04] to some very big shoes, literally.

[00:40:07] We had some fun.

[00:40:07] So we've got the audio about the sharks season coming up.

[00:40:11] So it'll be myself and Dan, Dan will be leading the way.

[00:40:15] And you'll hear that after we come out of the show.

[00:40:18] It'll be a audio only thing.

[00:40:21] It won't be a video thing.

[00:40:22] Apologies to video people.

[00:40:23] And that's just another bonus for you guys and girls.

[00:40:27] Hope you like it.

[00:40:28] And we will speak to you on the other side of us winning in round one, Josh.

[00:40:32] Can't thank you enough for your time, my friend.

[00:40:34] Thank you for your friendship.

[00:40:35] Love you lots.

[00:40:36] We're going to get out of here.

[00:40:38] This is Shark House Pod.

[00:40:39] We will speak to you post after sometime with two points in our hands.

[00:40:46] I cannot wait.

[00:40:47] Let's go.

[00:40:48] I'm getting excited.

[00:40:49] Josh.

[00:40:49] I've got 24 hours.

[00:40:50] Let's go.

[00:40:51] Go to Sharky's up up.

[00:40:53] Let's go.

[00:40:53] Sharky's.

[00:40:56] Shanaadi.

[00:40:57] Yes.

[00:40:59] That's not the line.

[00:40:59] Shanaadi.

[00:41:00] Shanaadi talk to me.

[00:41:02] Time to talk some black white and blue.

[00:41:04] Oh, that felt so good, mate.

[00:41:06] The sharks.

[00:41:08] What are your thoughts?

[00:41:09] What are your hopes?

[00:41:10] What are your dreams for 2024?

[00:41:12] Dreams to win the title.

[00:41:14] Hopes to make the finals and win one or two.

[00:41:18] Don't have any noise. At least.

[00:41:20] And I'm just really excited for the season to kick off,

[00:41:23] probably more than I have been in the past couple of years.

[00:41:26] So I really am looking forward to the team

[00:41:30] riding some wrongs, a lot of knockers out there.

[00:41:34] People think we can't sort of make that next level.

[00:41:36] I'm here to say we can.

[00:41:37] That's a good cheer.

[00:41:38] I think this is the most exciting I've been for couple of years.

[00:41:41] Now I know we had a real good year, two years ago,

[00:41:43] and that fits and the excitement was there.

[00:41:45] But you didn't really know what to expect.

[00:41:47] Rookie coach, half back who had like three games

[00:41:50] at half back beforehand.

[00:41:51] We know what we got now.

[00:41:53] And I'm very much on record as saying

[00:41:55] we got some real talent that, you know, not right away

[00:41:58] but are gonna be the future of this club.

[00:42:00] But I think we're at the part where we're just starting

[00:42:03] to see them become a little bit more than peripheral visions

[00:42:06] I'm very excited. I would love the winner finalist

[00:42:09] Yeah, and I think we will and that's that's fits his whole thing is the boys need to get to 100 games

[00:42:14] They're all gonna get their sort of together and then

[00:42:17] The premiership window in his eyes probably opens a little bit further and we're at that stage now

[00:42:22] They're all sort of reaching those milestones and and they play together for a long time and it's just I

[00:42:27] think the argument that are it's the same as last year that's not even close to

[00:42:32] true the same lineup possibly sure it's different attitude they've learned a lot

[00:42:38] a lot of stuff went wrong last year we had a lot of injuries last year no one

[00:42:43] ever talks about it and Nick at homez missed three or four games to start with, we'll kindly miss the last 15 or whatever.

[00:42:49] That's major. So if that stuff doesn't happen, I think we're in for a really good year.

[00:42:57] Yeah, if Kennedy states fear, we'd be the roosters last year. I think that's pretty

[00:43:00] high. Absolutely. And the year before, if Cataly didn't get fit, I think we'd be the

[00:43:04] Cowboys. So yeah, if we could keep't get fit, I think we'd be the cowboys.

[00:43:05] So yeah, if we could keep everyone fit,

[00:43:07] well obviously the big change comes in half.

[00:43:09] We got Braden Trindell who spent an entire off season

[00:43:11] training with Heinz.

[00:43:12] He didn't get that last year.

[00:43:13] It was Moylin and Heinz and he got thrown in

[00:43:15] for three minutes here and a game there.

[00:43:17] He had to start the season of course,

[00:43:18] because Niko's injury, but had to play outside of Moylin

[00:43:22] and they don't work together.

[00:43:24] They'll play it okay, but they don't work together. This is a halves combo. I still

[00:43:28] eat cake dikes has got a lot to say about that but not for the first 10 weeks. I'm

[00:43:32] really excited especially seeing how well they played together in the All Stars.

[00:43:35] I'm a big cade guy as well and I was very much in that thought as well Dan

[00:43:41] where I thought oh a month or two and Kato come in I don't

[00:43:45] I think that story has changed Trindall showed us what he could do in the All

[00:43:49] Stars game he was decent for a guy in the second trial carrying a whole team

[00:43:54] good point and as far as I can remember he hasn't really put a foot wrong for us

[00:44:00] start last year even coming off the bench I know he was trying too hard off the bench.

[00:44:05] Take that stuff out. The guy hasn't really played a bad game for us.

[00:44:09] He's young. He's had the off season. Niko's next to him. Yeah, it's going to be a few sort of learning curves along the way.

[00:44:17] But I think it's his jump up for the season and less something horribly goes wrong to the team.

[00:44:24] Yeah, no, it's a good shot.

[00:44:26] And Kade will find his way in there.

[00:44:27] Like I'm not worried about that at all.

[00:44:28] He's talented in his own, right?

[00:44:30] Yes, I mean ultimately you want two books

[00:44:32] who are fighting for the spot because then you can't go wrong.

[00:44:36] Yeah, look, I mean, he's a student of family.

[00:44:37] We've been calling for his inclusion for a couple of years.

[00:44:40] Now, Morgan did have that good year in the first year of Fitz

[00:44:43] and saw what I go, well, you gotta go with him again,

[00:44:45] but in hindsight, I wish he played all the games last year.

[00:44:49] He's kicking game is tremendous.

[00:44:50] I think he's got the best boot in Crunal,

[00:44:52] that's Nico Heinz inclusive.

[00:44:53] I think he just improves it and he's his defense is tremendous.

[00:44:56] When he came in our left hand side,

[00:44:58] didn't, wasn't one of the better left hand sides

[00:45:00] in the competition by any means,

[00:45:02] but it was much stronger.

[00:45:03] They've had a full off season,

[00:45:04] Teague Wilton's back and fully fair. We haven't seen

[00:45:06] this combination go from the start, other than it makes you for all of course, but

[00:45:12] I'm really excited about what they can do. I go into this weekend, the Warrods, it's a

[00:45:17] very difficult trip to get first off. What did you make in the slide?

[00:45:20] Of the Sharks team, I really like it. It's the strongest team they could probably

[00:45:23] name given the injuries they have. I like the fact that it was in the bench. I think

[00:45:29] he can come on a rip and tear. And yeah, what about a hunt of confusi starting?

[00:45:35] Confusi's been great in the offseason. Hunt had a strong finish last year. He looks good now.

[00:45:40] And I like it. I like it a lot. Teague's back. It looks fit and ready to go.

[00:45:46] So, you know, there's not much I would change about it.

[00:45:49] No, I completely agree.

[00:45:50] And I mean, I'm Cal is a Euro's biggest fan

[00:45:53] that doesn't have his cherry surname.

[00:45:56] But he didn't do enough in the trials to force a change.

[00:45:59] We've named a big side. We've named a monster bench.

[00:46:02] I like the fact that Toby's coming off the bench

[00:46:04] and was rushed back in because I don't think he did enough in that first trial to let like make me think

[00:46:10] he's ready to go. He will get that spot back. Royce Hunt though was our best across the two

[00:46:14] games I think. I mean how do shorts stint me all stars but ran from the back fence literally

[00:46:19] ran a couple of votes. So a kafusi was unstoppable. Had a brewing offload for a

[00:46:23] trying barrel score to first try up in the central coast. You couldn kafusi was unstoppable. Had a brewing offload for a trying barrel squad to first try out the central coast.

[00:46:26] You couldn't have them.

[00:46:28] I love the fact that I was on the bench.

[00:46:29] I think that's the way it needs to be.

[00:46:30] Kim starting and captaining from 13

[00:46:33] is exactly what I wanted.

[00:46:34] Massive.

[00:46:35] Tom Haysdon was an absolute must peak.

[00:46:37] And I take a bit of offense to people saying,

[00:46:39] Oh, Jack Williams is Jack Williams out.

[00:46:41] Outside of Nickory.

[00:46:42] He was our second best forward last year.

[00:46:44] People keep saying he's got an error in him.

[00:46:46] He statistically was our best forward,

[00:46:48] otherwise last year.

[00:46:49] Don't give me a start down, like.

[00:46:50] People who knock Jack Williams,

[00:46:53] he's a big quote for you,

[00:46:54] they're not watching the game.

[00:46:56] I'm sorry.

[00:46:57] He is without doubt,

[00:47:01] has been over the past three or four years,

[00:47:03] season here, season there, our best forward.

[00:47:06] Amongst the superstars, the highly rich guys,

[00:47:08] it's been Jack Williams.

[00:47:09] So the handling error thing also is a myth

[00:47:13] because if you look at the bad year he had,

[00:47:16] it was still something like one of every two games.

[00:47:18] They might have come at bad times, no denying that.

[00:47:21] He need to improve it, he has.

[00:47:23] Man, I hope we re-sign it. Yeah me too

[00:47:26] He's probably the big piece off. Yeah contract

[00:47:28] I don't know Hazelton is there and Kefusi's the other one

[00:47:30] He has a mutual option, but I don't know how mutual an option can be if the club says pack your bags

[00:47:35] Not saying I want that to happen. Tommy off contract. I believe so yeah

[00:47:39] But hasons on the sort of money that you could get it done tomorrow if you really want to the big one for me was call room

[00:47:44] Because you can't convince me that they went three or four clubs going,

[00:47:47] Jesus, these kids are right. Young, young, ready to go. So unfortunately it'll be out for a while

[00:47:53] but we'll be back and this stuff only makes you tougher and I can't wait to see

[00:47:58] Call Moon really just cement a spot. The coach absolutely loves him.

[00:48:02] That's music to my ears. Do you think he would have been in the 17 if it this week?

[00:48:05] Yes, yep

[00:48:07] I agree and if you said who am I dropping off the bench?

[00:48:10] Take your pick

[00:48:12] I'm not sure but I think if he wasn't there he would have had one foot in the 17 like he would have been so close

[00:48:18] He would have been the 18th which brings me to my

[00:48:21] Not my not my issue with the side

[00:48:23] But my issue with the side but my issue with the side.

[00:48:25] Kliaro's been named at number 18 which of course those who don't understand means he

[00:48:29] will sit on the bench and wait for HIA that's the role.

[00:48:33] I hate it.

[00:48:34] If he's not playing 80 minutes for chronol you need to be playing for 80 minutes for new

[00:48:37] town because he's next man up across the back line and I want to play in 80 minutes somewhere.

[00:48:42] Yeah I think he's a guy who can really use weekend workout football. He's still young and

[00:48:48] What can he cover for us

[00:48:50] Three quarters, right? It pretty much center only maybe four maybe four back is put a couple which is which is awesome

[00:48:56] But there's Dan Atkinson who can do probably that as well as hooker halves

[00:49:01] You may see some tinkering there. Oh, I, I'd say, maybe not, but also.

[00:49:05] The new town side that's been named is pretty strong.

[00:49:07] If that, that, um, Warriors Reserve Grade Team

[00:49:10] is insane, by the way.

[00:49:12] This could be a gonna find a preview, hopefully.

[00:49:13] Yeah.

[00:49:14] Um, I'd say there'll be a few changes.

[00:49:17] I think you'll see Europay for new town.

[00:49:19] I'll be disappointed if he was at 18.

[00:49:21] I'm naming Atkinson, going to my head,

[00:49:23] all huge toaks, because I want him in

[00:49:25] and around that first grade team.

[00:49:26] But he's also someone I want to play

[00:49:27] in big minutes for new town.

[00:49:29] So you can't really win there, but Aco,

[00:49:31] I absolutely agree with that.

[00:49:34] Coming into the season though,

[00:49:36] we've said, you know, making the eight

[00:49:38] is the absolute minimum as far as I'm concerned.

[00:49:40] My minimum expectations is the winner finals.

[00:49:42] We should have won one last year.

[00:49:43] Yeah, I think we should be top four. Who outside of Niko, because that's a cheat code,

[00:49:48] is your player to watch that will kick us to that next level?

[00:49:51] Oh boy, I'll tell you who I'm a massive wrap on and it's not, I'm not the only person here,

[00:49:56] but I really think a guy like Britain and Nikhara is still to this day underrated,

[00:50:02] both by shark fans and the world outside

[00:50:06] I think that his status will really grow in the next few years

[00:50:10] What he does on and off the ball is unbelievable

[00:50:12] I mean, that's a bit obscure saying a let a right edge back where I was gonna take us the next level

[00:50:19] But that's the like comes to mind. Yeah

[00:50:23] I'm looking at Will Kennedy.

[00:50:25] If you're cool.

[00:50:26] Yeah.

[00:50:27] Nick Corrillo, you look at Ola Kawatu, what he's done to the Mami, Colmataan, for six hours.

[00:50:32] Dave Fieder, it's completely, completely fair to say.

[00:50:36] I just think that he's a guy that's been growing.

[00:50:39] He came in as a young stay.

[00:50:40] He's been in the system with us for a long time.

[00:50:43] And still relatively young for a footballer. I just think that his attitude just gets better every year. He's

[00:50:50] learning, he's getting more accolades, rep football, the whole thing. I'm pretty

[00:50:54] convinced he's maybe wrong here but I think he's the first one that goes down

[00:50:59] on the team list. I really do. Before the King of Cari by Nico Ains, I think it's

[00:51:03] Britain, Nicko. I really do. I do say that when the next two retire or move on, I think

[00:51:09] Niko might have the scene, actually his name, for a long, long time. Great

[00:51:12] shout with Kenny. Obviously he's the one that we need fit in the fight.

[00:51:15] For me, the player to watch his T-Wilton, copped a horror show last year in that he

[00:51:21] had to defend inside, Matt Moylan, who with the the greatest respects probably wasn't the game's best defender.

[00:51:26] I think that's fair to suggest.

[00:51:27] He always tried hard.

[00:51:28] Look, he did try hard, but at a point,

[00:51:31] there were people in group chats that I'm in saying,

[00:51:34] Walton's era, he's the VCs.

[00:51:36] And when Moylan came out that left side,

[00:51:38] missed half of him out of tackle.

[00:51:39] So I think you'll find the kids game will improve.

[00:51:42] He was so good for Newtown.

[00:51:44] We haven't seen things yet that he can do.

[00:51:46] We're gonna miss Wade Graham.

[00:51:47] Obviously Wade had come to the end of his career

[00:51:50] and it's hard to replace one of the best side

[00:51:52] of back rowers we've ever seen.

[00:51:54] But I think T. Wilton's gonna go a long way.

[00:51:56] I still see him or Cole Hoon being the lock

[00:51:59] and the other being the left side.

[00:52:00] You can throw a talakoy in there.

[00:52:02] I think we're well versed in the second row.

[00:52:04] I'd love to see T play lock.

[00:52:06] I think he's got that shape, that perfect shape,

[00:52:08] and I'm assuming he's got the skills as well.

[00:52:11] Yeah, absolutely.

[00:52:12] He played a lot of lock for the Jets.

[00:52:14] I remember talking to Toby a couple years,

[00:52:15] Toby Rudolph of course, saying that they put him in there

[00:52:18] to sort out, go get your tackle stats up,

[00:52:20] and then they're like, oh God,

[00:52:21] this guy's actually really good here.

[00:52:23] So.

[00:52:24] Yeah, he to me, he's got that prototype footballing body.

[00:52:27] Like I just looked at him and I'm like, you're a footballer.

[00:52:29] Yeah, he's the one.

[00:52:30] Quick prediction this way, can you against the loss?

[00:52:33] It'd be close, weren't it? A tight one. I do like it.

[00:52:36] So I think that we're out to start well.

[00:52:38] Like we never start well. It's like one in nine years or something.

[00:52:42] I think we're going to go out over there to win.

[00:52:44] I don't mind the fact that we're playing away over there

[00:52:46] so early.

[00:52:47] It's round one, anything goes.

[00:52:49] It's gonna be tough, the team's pretty good.

[00:52:51] The team's good.

[00:52:52] RTS is back, they're forward packs, our boy, Finno, Blake.

[00:52:55] You know, I like a spy, wonderful.

[00:52:59] Well, I said on Finn's up,

[00:53:00] make sure you check that out too please.

[00:53:02] Then we'll win on a field guard on the last play

[00:53:03] because it'll be fantastic.

[00:53:05] Look, if we go over there and they beat us by 10,

[00:53:07] okay, it's round one, it's the most difficult road trip,

[00:53:11] it's out of the way, whenever good round one,

[00:53:13] round one's a bit of a,

[00:53:14] no excuse to show.

[00:53:15] Look, no excuses, but I'm preparing myself.

[00:53:17] I'm still getting confused.

[00:53:18] Nah, I think this is a new year,

[00:53:20] and from the things I've seen down there,

[00:53:22] training and the stories about the boot camps

[00:53:25] and that kind of stuff, I'm expecting a harder edge to this team.

[00:53:30] We saw it against the Roosters in the last game.

[00:53:31] I know we lost.

[00:53:32] Everyone knows we lost.

[00:53:33] Go back and watch how we defended.

[00:53:36] Defended so strong.

[00:53:37] Just little things like, like what was it, a ricochet from a kick and minor things.

[00:53:44] And we also, obviously obviously bobbled a few

[00:53:47] attacking chances. We finished the year strong man and I think we're gonna start strong.

[00:53:52] There you go. That's all you crash his way out for the car.

[00:54:06] The winner got the full life of the night.

[00:54:09] And do all you people back in the shower

[00:54:12] tell you what's lifetrap because they're cabernet with a trophy.
