[00:01:06] Welcome to SharkCast, the Parday Podcast dedicated to the greatest sporting club in the history of the world as proven tonight by the 40 points to 10 win over the Canberra Raiders in Canberra. Pre-Season number 2. My name is Sam Shinazzi, OG 2015. The show is brought to you by Dyson Logistics, the Royal Motor Yacht Club in Port Hacking and Jason Hawes of Crips & Crips Real Estate. Having a bit of fun here, going live and we are joined by some esteemed guests and possibly some more to come, you never know.

[00:01:35] A couple of legends already. I can see my good friend Gary Dover. He is, I'm going to say, got the night off. He looks like he's not in Canberra. Gary, welcome to the show. How are you going my friend? Thank you. I'm going very well. I did sort of have the night off. I was posting a little bit on socials but wasn't down in Canberra so I got to watch the game from a bit of a better angle with the broadcast view which was nice.

[00:02:01] And we are also joined by Fins Up rugby league outlaw legend Dan Nichols making his second appearance this week. I think some of the other boys are getting a bit nervous. Dan, welcome to the show my friend. How are you doing mate? I'm doing good. Thank you very much. I'm just pumped because that was a pretty good performance all round. We'll get into the pros and cons. To score 40 unanswered points is awesome. And I'm just really excited to be talking sharks with you guys and with our listeners.

[00:02:30] Already got some comments here. One from Melbourne. All the way from Melbourne, our friend Luke. But, Dan, tell us about, as we bring in our fourth member, tell us about your thoughts on the trial. Just some initial thoughts, some overall reactions. Go Dan. So super excited heading in. 20 minutes in I realised, oh no, here we go again. From there they cleaned it up and I mean they dominated a pretty ordinary Canberra side.

[00:02:58] Results don't matter but they certainly do when you rack up a heap of points. So mate, eight, eight and a half out of ten. I think I've been generous but whatever. You take it, no injuries. Pretty much perfect. What are your thoughts Gary? Some overall initial reaction from you my friend? I mostly enjoyed our big pack just running riot and definitely got there in the middle. And, you know, watching him play on a bit of a shorter, narrower field, you know, they're going to have to punch it up the middle a fair bit.

[00:03:25] And yeah, I think we handled it really well and we've got a good side there in the middle. So looking forward to how that unfolds in Vegas. Nice. Now Tim has joined us on the stream. He says, I didn't get to watch the game. I was at the Opera House watching post-modern jukebox. But he's pumped to watch the game later on. So thank you very much, Tim. Hope you're doing well. Hope you had a good night in fact. Josh Bolling joins us. SharkCast regular. Bit of a heartthrob from the SharkCast world. Sorry, Gaz. Josh, what did you make of the game, my friend?

[00:04:02] You know, all things being equal to trial. It was the fact that we were out of sync and looked a bit dodgy and we found a way back into the game. And then I felt cruised for, you know, the last 60 minutes. And I think that was the most impressive part. The boys just finding a way to get back into it and dominate. Yeah, for sure. We've got some people at the stadium. Matt Crosby, long time SharkCast listener, viewer, supporter is at the stadium, says g'day. Not sure if he wants to chime in from the car park or not.

[00:04:29] And also we have Daniel, who's at the ground. Some serious talent coming through at Dykes, Isen, Colquhoun, and the two young halves are rocking as well. Now, we do need to talk about that. The depth of this club at the moment, and we know we can't hang on to them for more than a few years, but the depth right now is ridiculous. Once Isen's fit, like from fullback to prop, we're in pretty good hands. I know the younger props are a few years away, but overall,

[00:04:59] the depth of the club is phenomenal. What do you reckon, Dan? Yeah, being a big Newtown fan, I was certainly smiling tonight. Canberra were very, very good in New South Wales Cups, so they've got good depth just to set a platform as those that didn't watch. But the way we handled them in pretty much every aspect. I did a quick 1-17 on Newtown, and there's probably only two or maybe three positions where we don't have the best player in that competition.

[00:05:26] It's exactly what you want because, you know, you're never going to play your 1-17 every week, which is great. And those flag boys, you know, shout out Christian Dixon especially. I thought he looked really good when he came on. Jeez, to think of the players we didn't have there, the Isens, the Colquhouns. That's, we're in pretty good stead. I want to give you a shout out to Lewis. He's a new father. He's joined the club for three of the four people on the screen. He's got a new little shark baby, so I hope all the family is going well.

[00:05:56] I put up the wrong Dan. Sorry, I didn't put up the wrong Dan. Here's another Dan, third Dan for the night. This Dan is in the car park. Dan Fitz, he lives in Canberra. So he's always pretty excited when the Sharkies come to town. So I hope you had a good time there, Dan. A few more here, which is awesome. Scott says, imagine being 50 trying to pick the pack bench this year. Boys, we've got so much to talk about. Let's just stick to the game for a second at least. It was not the worst start, even when they went to a 10-0 scoreline.

[00:06:26] We had the annoying play the ball, roll the ball thing going on, which we haven't quite got our heads around yet, which we need to. Aside from that, I wasn't overly bummed 10-0 down. I know some of the internet world was blowing up, and that's what they're there to do. But 25th minute on, Nico Hines try. It was all us, obviously. Something really evident tonight, and it's followed up from last year, was the attacking kicks, the wingers running through, scoring tries from that.

[00:06:56] Particularly one from Stone Street with the tackle turnover, the other one with Ronaldo with the flip back. I think that's going to be really good for us this year again. And I thought the kicking game was good. I mean, I'm not here to say we were perfect. Generally all round, there was nothing overly alarming for me. Josh, are you happy with that statement? The thing about the kicking game, which I'm really enjoying, is that for every three kicks that Trindle's having, Nico's having one. So there's less pressure on Nico. He can kind of scheme around the back. He ran on the fourth a few times, which I really enjoyed.

[00:07:26] The attacking option of kicking with Trindle's side is that Ronaldo's the one chasing his kicks, and he's got the higher kick. And we saw that multiple times tonight with Ronaldo just hounding the fullback or the winger, coming through with those big booming kicks. And then Nico can just pick his moments. And when he wants the ball, he gets it. And his kicking game looked a lot stronger tonight. Like a bit more depth and height on the kicks, which I was critical of last year. So that was another point that I was really impressed with.

[00:07:56] Dan, who stood out for you from the main 17 guys? Give us a couple of standouts for you based on tonight's performance. Tom Hazelton changed the game when he came on. Thought he just looked so much bigger than everyone else, which is crazy considering the size. So Nico played what, 75 minutes and looked just superb for a bloke in his first hit up. And his first hit out. Look, Stone Street had the literal definition of a mixed night. A try, a try assist in defence, a botched try.

[00:08:26] He conceded a try in two. He topped the running metres. So I want to put him in there with an asterisk, because when we talk bad players, he's probably going to come up too. But look, the two that I mentioned before I thought were our best two. And I thought both halves played tremendously without doing too much, to be honest. Nico just pulled the strings. And that ball he put across to put Stone Street in was just, that's poetry. I can't get across to you and the listeners viewers how many things I want to talk about at once.

[00:08:55] My brain is just melting because you're talking about Heinz. I'm looking at AFB stats. I'm going bonkers here, boys. AFB pretty much exactly what we wanted to see. The try was the icing on the cake. He's got the offload. He's got the metres. He probably played, I don't know, five minutes too long, to be honest. But he's going to absolutely change the game for us. Gary, what are your thoughts? You've been with him over summer. What was it like to see him out there for real? Yeah.

[00:09:20] That's like, you just see for a big guy, the footwork that he's got, the ball playing that he's got, like behind the line, in front of the line, he can do it all. And just, he's just that missing piece that we've kind of needed. But there's another big guy out on the field tonight that actually caught my eye maybe a little bit more. And that was Big Tooks. The ball playing that he showed there to throw that one, draw two defenders, throw that one out to Nico and get that try away. He's taking his game to the next level. And I'm really excited for what he can do this year as well.

[00:09:49] I mean, if Fitz doesn't go three forwards in a utility, well, I don't know. Tukki might not be playing blackjack that day. He might be out there playing in Vegas. Joshi, what did you make of AFB's first appearance for us? It's hard sometimes not to get too excited and to, you know, overhype someone. And then you see them actually do exactly what you think they're going to do all preseason. It just like, it still blows your mind.

[00:10:15] Like every, I think every run he had, he either dominated the ruck or poked his nose through or was passing for a line. His play the ball speed is ridiculous. You watch when you watch back, the speed in which he gets up and plays the ball with is insane. It's like for feeder, a bigger for feeder. And I'd dare say maybe a little more agile just at the line.

[00:10:39] It's, it's really exciting and trying to temper my expectations because look, no one can do that every week, you know, 27 weeks, but man, he's just, he's something else. Did you guys want to try and have a guess? I'm just looking at the stats at his average ball play speed for Noah Blake tonight. Maybe 2.8. Oh yeah. I'd say around two, if not less. Guess. I'm going to go 2.12. So it's 2.59 and there's everyone else's.

[00:11:08] McInnis was three. Hazleton was 3.8. Billy Burns is 3.9. That is just ridiculously quick. Full second than pretty much everyone else out there. Let me take the wheel here, Dan. I do a bit of this stuff in my, in my day job, play the ball speeds. And that is, that is what we call a very fast play the ball in all seriousness. Like we categorize them. It is very, like you can get faster than that, but we won't call it anything else. It's very fast. So in a trial match, get out of here. That's awesome.

[00:11:37] Good to know the stats backed me up there. That was good. Yeah. Big time and nailed it. Both halves were really good. I was getting a little nervous in the pregame when my personal friend, Brandy, so no one's allowed to say anything bad about Brandy. He was really saying, Niko, you know, it's all up to Niko this year. And I was like, oh man, let's just calm down with this stuff. But he had a really good game.

[00:12:02] I mean, he probably ran the ball a bit more than what I wanted him to, or maybe at the wrong times, but I was happy he was doing it, getting the hits and the bruises. But his passing was really good. His kicking was good. He just looked pretty comfortable out there. I'm super glad he had the hit out. We're told that the ice on the groin is precautionary. There's nothing to worry about there. Obviously wait and see on that to confirm it. But at this stage, I wouldn't be too worried about that. He's iced up there after every game, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. But yeah, I saw everything.

[00:12:33] I said it in our chat during the game. I saw everything I wanted to see out of Niko tonight. He didn't overplay his hand. He ran it at times. He took on the line like I wanted him to. He put in some good kicks. But, you know, he kind of sat back and let Tricky do a lot of the main stuff, which is what worked for us at the back end of last year. And hopefully it's what works for us again this year. Now, Dan, you're a big Niko guy. You've even got the merchandise that fins up with the Niko stuff, which hopefully Niko doesn't know about, because I'm sure he'll get his lures onto you. But what did you make of his game tonight? First of all, it's Niko unrelated.

[00:13:03] He was great. He defended really well, which is obviously not the highlight reel stuff, but something we really want to see. He kicked well. And he was there for that try. People were like, oh, Niko fell over the line. Yeah, what if he's 20 metres back? He's not falling over the line. His positioning was perfect. I thought he was going to score early when he ran into the gap. Ended up getting smashed. So, Canberra obviously read it better than I did. But the gap was definitely there. So, oh mate. Oh, look, I wasn't worried when he came off because he had a huge smile on his face. When they showed the ice, he's laughing about it. That was cool.

[00:13:33] You never want to see that. But as Gaz says, I mean, show me a footballer doesn't get something iced. He was pretty much perfect, but he can be perfect every single week. He does one drop ball and everyone's going to bag him. So, all the positivity in the world tonight. Brilliant. I honestly, when I saw him signing the autographs and taking the photo, I honestly in my head thought someone's going to say something bad about this somewhere in the world, not on TV, but somewhere I'm going to find out tomorrow that someone's criticising him. Why is he doing that so soon?

[00:14:02] As soon as he got off the field. I mean, why do you think some kid held our doll, sign it? Yeah, okay, cool. There was a bit of criticism online that I saw in the first 20 that we were taking it too lightly. Our heads weren't on. We're thinking about Vegas. I think it just took them a bit of time to get into it. And they obviously clicked. Now, Canberra, it's not a star-studded team, even at the best of times. So we beat an average team. No one's going to argue that. But Canberra were in the game for the first 40. Like they were fine. They were competing. They were good.

[00:14:32] So obviously our star power just clicked over there. Trindle, I thought was really good. I was a bit unhappy he played so long. I was getting a bit worried, a bit nervous out there. That's just my nature. What did we make of the game plan tonight? What we think of the... Initially, I was a bit worried about the narrow field. I thought, oh, they don't look like they're going side to side as usual and that kind of thing. But in the end, it just clicked. Were we happy with the game style, Josh? The game plan tonight? The way we played? Yeah.

[00:15:00] What I love about what Fitzy's brought to the side is the amount we use the ball. I would say we probably use the ball more than any other team in the comp, regardless of effectiveness or not. We let it sing a lot. A lot of shifting, a lot of unders lines, the cutout balls. We're always trying something and testing the defense. It doesn't always work. But the fact we're always asking questions and they're always different questions. You never usually see the same play once or twice.

[00:15:28] Like you'll see, you know, the hard line fatigue, and then we're doing a kicking behind and then it's... We're spinning it twice out from the ruck. Every forward is ball playing now. And you're seeing the skill develop. You see McInnes, you know, throwing in unders for AFB to score the try. Tuku passing for the Niko set up. Like those are really crucial points of play that we have. And not a lot of teams have forwards that can do that. And the fact that you've seen that development in guys over the last few years,

[00:15:56] and we're seeing it now with the likes of Tukes and, you know, the offload at the line from Ueli that Billy Burns dropped. Like all these little things are such important parts of play that are really hard to defend. And I think that's what I'm really liking about our play style from, you know, the first two trials. But we've seen that over the years as well. Shout out to Hayley who says, how good is having two tall wingers who can lead? We will talk about Sam Stonestreet because Dan's on the show. He had a mixed game.

[00:16:27] I feel it was a bit like last week, more good than bad. That's for sure. A couple of howlers, but he's young. He's getting in the groove. When he's really good, he's really good. The thing that impressed me the most tonight boys, was that tackle turnover that led to the try for, I think it was Jesse or one of those boys. I really liked that determination, that kind of grit, the way he played. We're not sure of Katoa's status at the moment. I'm not here to say that he won't be playing in Vegas, but we're just not sure. So he's certainly not the worst player to throw in there.

[00:16:57] Mixed bag. But as Dan said, ran for the most meters. Scored a try. He should have had another one at least. Gary, let's start with you. What did you think of Sammy tonight? Yeah, as we mentioned, it's a mixed bag, and he'll know all those bits of his game that he did wrong, and he'll be working on those. But for the most part, it was a good showing from him, and a good showing from a lot of our young guys. But yeah, as you mentioned, that urgency in our kick chase, that was really impressive for me. Like I was just only there to get that try to Jesse,

[00:17:26] but Ronnie did it for Nico's try. Will was hitting weeks as soon as his feet would touch the ground. And we just had bodies in and around the ball whenever we needed them to, and it didn't give Canberra much space to get out of their own end. So it was good to see that urgency in our kick was really impressive for me. Now I'm just going to get a bit tech here. Danny, you are cool. Your phone's not cool. Everything's cool. It's cool from my end. Yep. What did you make of Stone Street? Yeah, the mixed bag, this guy said, when he dropped that,

[00:17:55] I was, without getting too R-rated, I was actually in the shower and I had it on in the corner, and I heard him yell, boom. And when he dropped it, I checked, and all the little Facebook thing popped up in the corner. I was like, ah, gotcha. And then when AFB scored, they all popped up again. I'm like, all right, whatever. It's all forgotten. But yeah, I mean, it was a brewing try. He's, I thought he ran the ball really hard tonight. That first jump that he got bumped out, he'll want that over again. The drop ball, whatever that happens, it was more the fact that he got out-lept by a bloke.

[00:18:26] He shouldn't get out-lept by anyone being his height. So I think he's got to work on that. But again, he's a kid. He's not going to be flawless. And we've seen Ronaldo make errors, and I have Ronaldo as a top three winger in the game. So not the greatest night for the agenda, but I thought he put a good foot forward. I think the only reason the spotlight is on him because it has turned into this, well, not a three-man battle for the wing. It's Katoa versus Stone Street now, basically looking into the future. And that's why the spotlight is on him.

[00:18:54] I wouldn't normally go, oh, well, he dropped the ball. Like, I wouldn't really care. I'd be like, I was a young winger on his way. But there is that debate there, which many are having. Joshy, what did you make of Sam Stone Street tonight? Yeah, it's a mixed bag. I think the debate is so... The spotlight is on it so much because it's really the only position up for debate besides maybe a bench spot. So I think that's why, you know, as fans we're focusing on it a lot because there's not much else to kind of debate because we know what the side's going to be. It's pretty settled.

[00:19:22] Look, everyone knows my thoughts. I've still got Sione ahead. And I saw that again tonight, why I still think that. I'm losing damn right as I'm going to tell him why I think Sione should be. He'll catch up on the audio. Don't worry. Keep going. Yeah. He didn't drop out. He hung up. Yeah. Look, for me, I saw in that game tonight why I still got Sione in the side. I think Sam will prove to be a very good first grader.

[00:19:50] I just think Sione's ahead of him in more fields of play. I think he's a better finisher. I think he's, I think he's stronger. I think we get better carries. There's just more, there's more to him at the moment. Sam is a little up and like just, you know, up and down. He's quick and he's tall. Yep. I think you just, I think you get more out of Sione at the moment. I think he should be the winger for the, for the year at least. Okay. Especially playing outside Jesse.

[00:20:18] Like how long have they been together through NYC and all through the years? Like I don't think you can break up that sort of combination and just, it's not going to go as seamlessly as people might think it will. But yeah, I've definitely got Sione ahead of Sam at the moment. But I mean, Sam is, Sam is right there waiting. Sam is right there waiting, which is good for the club. We said Josh and I said that on Wednesday, like it's good for the club. Dan is back in audio form only. It's not because we don't want to see his pretty face, but for those watching, Dan's just got some tech issues, but he's there.

[00:20:46] And Dan, I want to talk about what Sean said on the screen. Our forward pack really excites me. I say it every year and people have heard me say this every year. And people have talked about how I talk about this every year. And I go, Oh, the forward packs amazing this year. And then just some years it's not this year. It looks really strong. And I'm even wondering now if BHU, who I love and love, I think he had a pretty good comeback again tonight. He's on his way back.

[00:21:11] I'm wondering if he's going to jag a bench spot or if Tukie is going to come in over him. Different players. Dan, what do you think of the forward pack in general? Yeah, I think the only thing we, we liked the last few years was a pack leader. And for Noah Blake is the best pack leader in the competition. Maybe Penhouse, but second at worst. So I think him doing like leading the way is going to have the Fisher Harris effect where Moses Liotta, who's a pretty good forward, has been made to look like an absolute king on the back of Fisher Harris.

[00:21:41] We'll see what he's without it. I think you'll see the boys lift on the back of that. Depends what Fitz wants to do off the bench. If he wants a 30 to 40 minute, he'll go you early. If he wants 15 minutes of go out and kill a guy, then you go you go huge toks because he looked monstrous tonight. But I don't think there's a wrong answer there. I think Talakai is obviously different and is automatic. And then you go Tom or Ueli too. There's no lack of size. Two weeks in a row, we've looked so much bigger than our opponents.

[00:22:11] And they're not, they're not a monster pack by any stretch, but they're not small. I just can't believe the height on these blokes. I'm used to having these five foot eight nuggets running through these, these Danny Nullies. But now they're all, they just get bigger as they keep coming. I've been this excited about a four pack since Fafida and Pryor, honestly. Yeah, right. I mean, Tal Tom definitely, I mean, he's putting the line in the sand. He may become a dirty dragon at some point, but he's had two strong trials now. Great finish the year last year.

[00:22:39] And again, I think he might sort of be not an automatic benchy, but I think he's kind of penciled in after the performances already. I believe Steve is our big time, long time, awesome supporter of ours. So Steve, that's who you are. I think I know who you are. I appreciate you tuning in and for the support. Of course, I tell you who played some big minutes. T. Wilton played about 55 minutes nonstop. He looked pretty good. Britton Nicker, as we said, played around 70, 75 minutes.

[00:23:07] I'm not sure if that was just for fitness or not. Let's get into some other players. I mean, Will Kennedy again looked solid tonight. It wasn't lights out, but I mean, he didn't do anything wrong as far as I can recall. I think that that's his jumper to keep, you know, I don't, obviously, Iceland's injured. So Kennedy's a lock for around one. Did you guys have any thoughts on Will Kennedy tonight? I think for me, when the side plays like that, he doesn't need to be the superstar.

[00:23:38] You know, like when things are clicking, it's like he's not needed. We get so much out of everyone else. It's when we're struggling that we need a spark. That's when Will's going to have to stand up and we'll see how that progresses throughout the year. But he did his job. He took a couple of really good bombs, linked nicely, you know, had a couple, I think he had a little grubber kick attempt there. Like he did enough for me. Like, and he's played the two trials and barely put it wrong.

[00:24:06] So when Nico and Trindle and Blake and AFB and all these guys are just singing, he's just a piece on the chessboard. Yeah, that was what was noticeable to me early on. Like he was chiming in when he had to, but when they clicked around the 20th minute, it was like, it was almost like the Cowboys final last year. They were sort of just peaking. They couldn't be stopped. And again, the camera team wasn't really like they were going okay, but they weren't dominating like we were. I was just really at ease watching that, even though there were some errors.

[00:24:34] We know there was some rollerball issues, but how ridiculous is that rule? Well, they better get every one of them, Josh. They better get every one of them. You can't just say they won't. They won't. Just go back and watch the game. They missed that four or five. If they do though, if they do, I'm okay with it. But if they don't, then yeah, it's ridiculous. It just, don't you feel like it just breaks up the play and the, you know, the, what rugby league is all about is the fast pace and the, you know, the nonstop apps aspect of it.

[00:25:02] But, but I guess Josh, they're trying to get away from the touch football, you know, dump and run as you know. But they, they instigated the touch football aspect of the game. I know. They're trying to get to be faster. I know. So it's like, I know. To be fair, the teams have had a while to get their heads around it. So I've been, Gary's down at training. I've been there occasionally from what I've seen. They're not spending hours and hours and hours on this process, but it doesn't mean that they couldn't or they shouldn't, or they haven't had the, the knowledge that this is what was going to happen.

[00:25:31] So it's a trial match. I mean, it sort of got better. The more we went like, I think second half, there was maybe one. So it got a bit better. That was kind of the only bad thing they were really doing all night. Shout out to Trish. She thought we'll had a good game. Thanks for tuning in Trish. Really appreciate it. Alex says, are we off to Vegas? And a little personal message for Gary, which I don't know if he can mention that or not. Three of the four people on the screen, the three you can see the other guy, I forgot he was there. He said quiet. We're all off to Vegas.

[00:26:01] So yes, Alex will be in Vegas. We'll be hanging out, doing stuff. If you follow our social media, dare I say, you'll know what and where we're going to do stuff. But there is plans to at least have a gathering, hopefully do a show somewhere else. But that's a bit TBC, but we'll be in Vegas if you want to hear this up. Dan, I haven't asked you this. I know you're not going to Vegas, but what are your thoughts on the Sharks going to Vegas? I love it. The exposure is fantastic. Playing Penrith is good. You want to get them early before they click in. So that worked out perfectly.

[00:26:31] I like the fact that we're the away side. I mean, it doesn't really matter, but I know we take a game elsewhere. So it sort of levels out. But I like the exposure of it. I wouldn't have wanted to go last year because I wasn't sure on the concept until about halftime in the first game. Then I decided I loved it. Total bandwagon. I get it. Yeah, no, this is good. There's a lot of eyes on it. And I mean, I think this one will be bigger because they're trying to get some big stars in the crowd.

[00:26:57] And I know, I know PVL's ego is monstrous and he's reached out to the president and this and that, etc. etc. So we'll see a lot of eyeballs. And just to have like Gaz in the background with his camera when Trump walks in, that's what the price is. Gary, nice to meet you, Gary. I'm Donald.

[00:27:19] I can say the Sharks are looking at getting a celebrity there and I can't say who that is, but there will be someone there with some Sharks history. And you have to do the math too much for older listeners and viewers. And hopefully Sharks media be able to capture the moment if it happens, of course. We'll be there. I can't give too much more on who it might be except to say that in Seinfeld once there was an episode that mentioned this person. But I can't say any more, Gary. I'll get in trouble.

[00:27:46] Boys, I was worried in the 75th minute when Cam McKinnis was still out there making tackles. I'm a bit of a worrier, but Gary, give us some thoughts behind what Fitz is thinking. Is that for fitness? Is that for leadership? What's going on? I don't know. I actually don't know. I don't know what his plan was with minutes or anything like that. Like even Kofusi out there, like the way Kofusi finished the year and the way he started this year, I think he's going to be a key piece of the puzzle once again. And to see him out there at the back end of the game, it's like, you've got to wrap these guys up in cotton wool. I don't want anything to happen. I'm getting nervous ahead of Vegas.

[00:28:16] But no, I think, you know, they do need a bit of fitness under the belt because obviously this is their first run for the year and they're straight on a plane over to the US and ready to hit it out in Vegas. So they need to get a bit of game time under their belt and everyone looked pretty good. So yeah, no complaints there. But yeah, I was getting a bit nervous towards the end of that game for sure. They didn't have enough players to rip off. We didn't have the feeling except for Brad Fernlees and the Offee Krauts on the bench. So... Adam's obviously a Seinfeld fanatic and he's saying maybe it's Keith Hernandez.

[00:28:47] Keith Hernandez! I despise Keith Hernandez! This one's for Joshy. We're getting a bit personal here. This one's for Joshy. For our listeners, I'm being so rude for the core audience, which is the listeners, the podcast listeners. It says, now it's clear Josh shaves his face. Wolfman, baby. So that's on NS. This is only a couple of days, mate. Shaved this morning before we show. Yeah. I haven't shaved for 14 years.

[00:29:14] Now, Luch says, Rudolph question mark. So I think that means when's he back? What's going on? Gary, you got any intel there? Approximation? He hasn't been training on the field at all. His shoulder or whatever happened to him surfing in Bali, he's got a bit of a way to go. So he's a bit disappointed he won't be in Vegas. But yeah, could be a good thing. Oh boy, I'm glad you said that. Now, the hand man says, Jaden Burrow looked very good. He's looked good in two trials now.

[00:29:43] And I am at the point where I am happy for him to hit the bench anytime he wants. I know Dan's a big fan. Dan's been calling for it for years. But I'm pretty comfortable with Jaden Burrow if we need someone on the bench or if, you know, touch wood, but Braley's out for whatever reason. Dan, what'd you make of Jaden Burrow's preseason campaign? Oh, 10 out of 10. He's probably across the two been the standout. But he's been good for five years. Like, he's the best hooker in New South Wales Cup by a long, long margin.

[00:30:12] And I mean, I've really come around on Braley. So I don't want him to not play this year. But I mean, if Burrow has to start three or four games, you're not getting any arguments. You're not, I mean, you're losing something. Obviously, he's your second rate hooker, but he's the best backup hooker in the competition. So superb. So the only problem is you can't really play lock. I mean, I know he played a little bit there, but it didn't really work in New South Wales Cup. He was nine and Healy was sort of more running. That sort of worked. Might cost him.

[00:30:40] But I dare say one Puru might have something to say about that because he can play nine and lock. But they're all, mate, all good for them. Yeah. So, Hoheba and Neefa didn't get to play tonight because they're playing the all-star game. So, I mean, if Hoheba has a lights out all-star game, who knows what Fitz may do. Maybe not round one, but you know, in the first month or so, should he need it. John is also a Seinfeld fan and says, John Voight.

[00:31:10] What, John Voight the actor? No, the dentist. Lucia's question was, where does Toby fit into the pack? So, Josh, I might let you lead. Okay. So, Josh is saying he doesn't. It's a great question. Dan, you know what? You're one of the co-presidents of the Toby Rudolph Fan Club and Foundation. Where do you see him when he's fit and healthy this year? Off the bench. I thought he played his best football off the bench for Cronulla.

[00:31:36] I felt he played three to five minutes too long pretty much every stint last year, which can be countered by playing off the bench. But, I mean, I don't 100% agree with Josh as he doesn't, but he's going to have to earn it through Newtown, mate, because... And he's going to be against probably Tookes and Colquhoun for that spot in the Newtown, like middle three. So, it could be an easy way back. I think that injury was a very bad time because there's probably four or five that may be ahead of him right now.

[00:32:07] If he's playing for Newtown and he's fit, so, I mean, after a month or whatever, I'm not saying he will be, but if he was, how long could you keep someone on that contract playing in that grade? Like, you don't have someone on that contract playing as a backup for the Jets. So, that's why I think it's a bit of a, you know, hopefully he comes good and he's ready for first grade because then that stuff gets a bit hairy. Any thoughts on that, Dan? Yeah, I mean, something's got to give him.

[00:32:35] He and Ueli are getting way too much money to play New South Wales Cup. So... Yep, fair. One of them is going to be there, 100%. Which one it is, I don't know. At the moment, it's Ueli because he's standing up, right? Toby's not. At their best, I think Toby's just a little bit better. Maybe that's some bias, but I'm happy to admit that. But I mean, ultimately, you need both of them there, the money they're on, especially when Tom's banging the house down. I mean, I don't think he wants to go to the Dragons because no one wants to go to the Dragons. It looked like he came on tonight to say,

[00:33:05] Hey boys, you want to keep me? So I'm pretty darn good at this football thing. And maybe Toby does get that. Well, how are you feeling, mate? If you're not 100%, maybe you want to go to the Dragons. I mean, you know what, Dan? And this is why you're the experienced media personality that you are. That is an amazing take because, okay, two really great trials from Tall Tom. Say he is lights out the opening month and he still hasn't signed. The Sharks would have no choice but to at least consider making it happen. I'm not suggesting they're not right now.

[00:33:35] For all we know, they're counter offering and all this sort of stuff, but they would have to hold onto him. If he has a month of great, like really great football, eight out of 10 football, which he might. So that's an interesting take. I mean, man, you'd do anything in this world not to go to that dirty club. Like you would just, the things you would do, probably the stuff Josh is going to do in Vegas. That's what you would do to stay away from that dirty, disgusting club. Scott says Riley Pollard passes the eye test. Is he still in FLEG this season?

[00:34:04] That's one for you, Gary. Is he still eligible for FLEG? I'm pretty sure he is. Yeah. He is. Terry's all over this, but he started in the one under FLEG. I always get Matts and SG mixed up. But yeah, so he's eligible for another year. And he does certainly pass the eye test. Excellent. His little mate Taj4 goes all right too, just quietly. Paul says he'll be lining up for the Jets this year. He's a once in a generational talent.

[00:34:35] Whoa. We need like a bombshell sound effect. Boom. I'm not going to argue. I just think that's a big statement and I'm happy to see it. And I'm happy he's one of ours. Alf says, this is Stone Street, a Vegas starter. As in, is he going to be playing in Las Vegas? Alf is asking the question. That's all about Sione Katoa, Alf. Gone through it. Happy to go through it again any time of the day or night.

[00:35:02] But at the moment, Katoa is ahead of him. So if Katoa is fit and ready to go, Katoa gets the job. If they, I'm imagining if there's some sort of doubt, then they'll just throw Stone Street in because you probably wouldn't risk a regular first grader if he's not fit and ready for round one. Even as big as Vegas is, you wouldn't risk it. So we'll see what happens there. I'm speculating. Was it an arm or a wrist or something, Gary, for Katoa? Are you not sure? Yeah, I don't know if it was his wrist or his shoulder.

[00:35:31] It was when he made that break down the side and put the little kick in and he fell on it. I don't know what he fell on, but he came straight off. And I haven't been at training the last week, so I'm not sure. But yeah, there's something going on there, but I don't think it's too serious or anything that might rule him out for round one, but we'll wait and see. Nathan says Pollard is overtaking Peru based on Nathan's thoughts. He might. He very well might. We've seen Nephi in Peru over the last year, which is awesome, but we'll see what happens there. But he might.

[00:36:00] He's got probably a few years advantage of being younger. So definitely a lot of guys there who can step up. I thought Braley was pretty solid tonight. I'm co-owner or owner of the Blake Braley Appreciation Island of Blake, but I thought he was pretty good. Didn't seem to do anything wrong. I thought he ran the ball a little bit in a trial. That's a good sign. Josh, what'd you make of Braley tonight? Yeah, I think it was just a continuation of last year. The running was there.

[00:36:28] I think over an 80 minutes, we would have seen him run probably over 60 meters. I think he might've had 30 or 40 run meters of three runs. And just as solid as ever in defense. Did a lot of clean up work. Crisp service. Like always, like it's always been his best trade. Even when he first came into grade and wasn't, you know, setting the water on fire. His service is just immaculate out in front on the, like, however you want it. I'm sure it's one of these, one of those guys, how do you want the ball? And he just delivers on a dime.

[00:36:56] I think that if he takes his game to another level again this year, it could be hooker of the year sort of stuff. Dally Ems. And if he can really, you know, go to that nine, eight, nine out of 10 every week, going to be hard to beat, especially when he's rolling off the back of 2.1 second play the balls from AFB or whatever it was. Yeah. Now question for everyone, Gary, if you can't answer it, you're allowed to pass.

[00:37:21] Would you be starting, would you be having Dan Atkinson on the immediate bench round one? After what you've seen this year and you can base it on the style of play you like, you can base it on whatever you want. But would you be having Dan Atkinson as your 14? Dan, go to you. Would you have Dan Atkinson for round one against the Panthers? No, I'd have four forwards against Penrith. Nothing against Atkinson. I just don't think he's a utility.

[00:37:48] He's either a six or nothing. Josh? Yeah, I'm a little torn about 48 hours ago I was locking him in as my 14 for the year. And now I'm just, I just don't know. Like obviously you want him there for the cover because he can do one, six, seven, nine, everything. So I wasn't really, I haven't really been impressed with him in the trials so far. And I know he was really good for us last year filling in and whatnot. I just, I thought I found him a little bit stale the last two games.

[00:38:18] I thought tonight he's at first receiver. I thought he was really subpar actually. I didn't like the way he was very, he stood still and there was no movement. And he's passing was pretty pedestrian as well. And a few hospital balls. And it's just, it's just put a bit of doubt in my mind. Cause I had him locked in, you know, when we did the podcast on Wednesday, he was my 14 for the year. And now I'm thinking is, is Beryl an option now? Or do we go with the four fours and get toques in there as well? I just like having some doubts now.

[00:38:47] So I'm not, I'm not sure. So if there was circumstance involved, injuries, et cetera, you'd go, yeah, throw him in. But just as a pure talent, you're not sure. Yeah. And it might be unfair basing off two trials. Cause it was, we did a great job for us last year. Like there's no doubt. We probably don't make the top four without him, but yeah. You know, if Nico goes down the first five minutes in round one against the Panthers, we're going, why wasn't he there? So it's just, you know, yes. Hindsight thing.

[00:39:14] And then, then do we need the four fours because they have been Confuci are going to probably play 40 plus minutes, you know? So it's like, maybe he's worth just having the, just in case. I don't know if I'm talking myself back into it now. Haven't you seen Ken McInnes and Blake Braley in the heart? Yeah. Two and O. We've won, won a couple of games. As Dan said, with the like shorter, narrower field, I want those guys who are good ball playing middles with good footwork that are just going to get us rolling through the middle. And I think that's what we need in Vegas.

[00:39:44] So based on that, I wouldn't have Dan there for round one. Interesting. Okay. I mean, he's always going to be around that 18. So we're not putting shade on him at all. We're just, I'm just wondering, cause I thought like Josh, I thought his trial form was okay. Didn't really stand out to me, but then again, I'm not going to hold that against him because when you go down to Melbourne and win the game for a single handedly, I mean, what can I say? Also the Newcastle game, he was pretty good towards the end.

[00:40:11] So Chris says big Tom, big effort, looking fit and more shoulder in the tackle. He does look fitter. I mean, Gary, they all look fit down there. What the heck are they doing down at training? They're doing the extras. I feel like everyone's looking pretty fit. They've been focusing on a bit of fitness this preseason. So it's definitely paying off.

[00:40:29] I thought we looked really quick and our, our game speed was like right up there against a side that, you know, they're not the greatest Canberra side that's ever lived, but I think we really controlled the ball and we controlled the speed of the play and the speed of the game. And yeah, hopefully we can keep that up and just get fitter and fitter as the season rolls on. So have anyone on this screen and I'll speak to all of our listeners and viewers as well. Have you guys been to the shark store lately in the Woolaware Bay complex district? Absolutely. Yeah, the shop, the shark shop.

[00:40:59] Josh, have you been out there? I haven't been in that place at all yet in my life. You're waiting for the Leeds club before you go there. I respect that man. I'm going to get some trouble. Dan, Dan, have you been to the shark store? Yeah, we went there before the NRLW game against tigers. It looks pretty slick. That's awesome. It is run by, I'll say because I think Barnsey isn't watching, the best merchandise person in the world. And I'm going to put her on the screen right now. Our friend Ash, she said, that's a nice hack, guys. I agree with Dan.

[00:41:29] Four forwards the way to go against Penrith. So thank you for that, Ash. And if you haven't been to the shark store, and I'm not getting paid to say this. I know you all think I'm in bed with the shark. I'm only in bed with Gary because he's my man. In fact, we're probably going to share a bed in about two weeks time, but that's a whole other story. What do you mean, share a bed? I thought you got twin. Don't worry, it's a long story. Ash is very involved in the shark store down at the Woolaware Bay precinct.

[00:41:56] So if you haven't been there, it's an awesome setup. It's bigger than any other shark store you've been in. They've got the videos on. They've got all the merch you can think of. And she will look after you. In fact, tell her shark car sent you. You won't get a discount, but just tell her that shark car sent you and it'll put a smile on her face, even though she's always smiling anyway. So thanks for being in touch, Ash. Lush says, agree with Dan if we need to get in the middle smaller field. Yeah.

[00:42:25] Monster of the Panthers. You guys are good football judges. This is why I go to you people. You guys are cool. I hadn't thought about that really. Fanua Blake, big Tuku. I think Tuku's getting closer boys. Just getting that feeling right now. Like tonight, he was unbelievable. I want him in the 17. We've seen him close to the line, what he can do. He did it again tonight. But just that intimidation factor. No one's going to be messing with him. You know, you can have all your Penrith dudes in his grill. He'll be swatting away like flies, you know.

[00:42:55] I'm warming to that. I haven't done my one to 17 and we'll do all that stuff in the weeks leading up. But I'm warming up to big Tuku being there. Who haven't we covered tonight? Who haven't we covered tonight? Sam, we do have some Instagram comments that I've just been tracking. Am I not getting those? Yeah. I've got them here if you don't have them. Yeah, go for it. We have Ben who said, we can't pick weekly teams like Origin. Four forwards has to be our advantage.

[00:43:21] Which I guess we've all kind of agreed or think that that's definitely a possibility. Thanks, Ben. Barnsley did say yes, he is watching. Damn! He's heard the rap or the diss maybe. It's a rap. Yeah, it's a rap. But Jason Hawes, our great sponsor. Sponsor of the show. Sponsor of the show. Yes. He's in Wagga Wagga. Oh, okay. So he's saying hello from Wagga Wagga. Awesome.

[00:43:47] So I don't want to reveal too much about Jason Hawes' life because it's very, it's not my business to tell. But his children are really great athletes and you might be seeing them. I don't put too much pressure on them, but at least at a junior level, you might be seeing them on the field in our colors. I've probably said too much, but Jason is a great man. Great family man as well. You got anything else there for us, Joshy? I just, Ben again, just said, Tukes making three tackles in a row is his concern.

[00:44:14] So I think getting doubled up in the ruck might be a bit of a way. That's fair. That's fair. Because I was thinking when we were just talking about Tukes, I'd love to just see him get some bigger minutes. I think tonight he got a fair chunk, but we haven't seen him do it at the NRL level. Usually it's like a 17 minute stint and he's off and he does really well, but that's a good point from Ben. We need to see that for him to, I guess, feature.

[00:44:36] But then again, if we go back to the fourth forward playing only a short time, a la Royce Hunt, a la Tsuku last year, maybe it won't matter so much. So just keep an eye on that Joshy while we, before we are, before we wrap. Gary, how do I pronounce our center's last name? Michael Gab. Gabriel. It's Gabriel. Yeah. Okay. Because I've been saying Gabrielle for some reason. Gabrielle. I've got no, nothing to base it on.

[00:45:06] Tonight. He looks like a guy who could really play first grade. And we've seen that before from him. But a lot of the guys we were talking about, uh, Christian Dixon. Dixon as well. Looking good. He looked good. I really like that. He looked good and he's looked good, uh, in the past few years for the club. Chris, I got a try. Do you reckon that was the first one? No, the first one when they knocked him back. I was like, I thought it was a way on that. What do you reckon, Dan? You're a valer man. Was it a try?

[00:45:35] Um, when I saw it in fast, I was like, oh, he's dropped it and slowed it down. I tried to convince myself, mate, if they give that against the Sharks, I'm screaming. I said no. It's a fair point. Uh, our friend Loki, I believe is in Melbourne says, uh, second half showed our depth in the club, which is exciting to see. It really is. Uh, we've been hopping on that a little bit, but, uh, it's just really good. Like I'm looking at a guy like Billy Burns, like he is not out of place in that first grade team.

[00:46:02] We've seen him last year cover some holes and there's just a whole string of them. Like I'm really impressed with the depth this year. Uh, one fellow we haven't touched on too much or touch on both of them. The centers tonight did their job. I thought Jesse was really good defensively. Um, um, here has been solid in both games. Are we happy with how those guys are tracking boys? I am. I think like we've just come to expect that that's how they play. And, you know, you know, they're going to go out there and do their job. They're good in defense.

[00:46:31] They're running hard, tackling hard. There's not much more we can get out of them. And then, you know, when they've got a bit of space on the outside, they're both putting their outside men away. So I'm happy with where they're at. It's good to see Jesse back out on the field. He's first hit out for the year. And yeah, Kale had another good show off the back of the first trial. Jesse looked like he was sucking him in at one point. And I was like, yeah, that's good. That's about right. Uh, Dan, what'd you make of your pride centers? Oh, they're killers, mate. They're a top three center combo. No one could convince me otherwise. I mean, Iro was quiet tonight.

[00:47:01] I only really remember where Billy Burns scored and was robbed just quietly. He won that challenge. So no extra laps. Um, the, the, the, the step over the ball. That's unforgivable. Make him run laps for me, please guys. But, um, he's, he's put to my Timaco in his back pocket twice. So I have no, no, David tonight. You'd love that stat. Every, every third tweet of yours. It's like Chris means Chris means. Oh, you're a one Timaco. You, you love, and it's factual.

[00:47:30] I'm not saying it's not factual, but you'd love that. Yeah. I mean, I'm just here to provide information. That's it. You are now have to give a shout out to now. Now this is getting a bit, not weird, but so I said, Loki's from Melbourne. I know that. And then he's little mate, Lucia's a friend of ours says he's the cohost for the post credit show, which is their podcast. I also knew this to stop getting in my grill. Lucia or come down to Melbourne and kick your butt, especially around the Melbourne storm

[00:47:59] time game, which I'm going to do anyway. I promised you. So, uh, a very good podcast post post credit show. Yeah. Uh, popular culture kind of vibe. Occasionally I'll talk about the sharkies when time allows, I think, but yeah, good podcast. If you're looking for another one to listen to, uh, lads, I mean, what a great, what a great night for the sharks. Now we'll find out more in the coming days about any potential niggling injuries, but at the moment we've got no reason to worry about that.

[00:48:26] I think at the moment, maybe we're on Sione watch more than anything else. As Gary said, Nico tends to watch that, that area of his body quite a lot when he comes off the field. He already didn't look hampered by it when he was playing. So hopefully it's all good. They do have what a bit over two and a half weeks, more or less to do the math just under two and a half weeks till game time. Yeah. So that's a pretty good time to recover. I know they've got a fair bit to do in between all that, but, um, I'm not too worried about

[00:48:56] Nico at all actually based on what we saw tonight. And, and, and the fact that he does that a little bit, yeah, it was a good performance. I was really happy. Like I wasn't overly bummed at 10 nil down, but I just think the fact that they got on with it, uh, another shout, another plug for another podcast, the NRL boom rookies run by my friend, Matt Bungard. They did a sharks preview. They did a preview of every club. And they were saying that it's go time for the sharks and they want to see the sharks run up some big scores.

[00:49:24] They're not happy with us just winning by two and four and then getting to the finals. And then sort of what happens happens. They really want to see us rack up some big scores. They believe in us. And I, tonight was a good proof that we can do it. And I, when I saw that happen, I was thinking about what they said. It was ringing in my ear and I would love to see some big scores in all seriousness, not because it'd be fun, but just from their confidence point of view, because in that little window of, I mean, let me look at the streak here.

[00:49:50] It was from the 25th minute on, they scored 40 unanswered points. Like that's pretty unheard of trial match completely understands the trial match, but I would love to see us just blow our games whenever we can, whenever we should, I know against the Roosters, you might not be able to do it, but when you have the chance, there's nothing to do. Nothing sweeter for both the team and the fans. Josh, do you reckon it's possible this year to see some bigger scorelines? Yeah, I think we will.

[00:50:19] We've gotten a fair few over the last few years, which have been really fun. Like the, the Tigers game we had last year was just so much fun. Just the carefree aspect of it, knowing you've got the two points and just enjoying. Sorry, I'm talking, I'm talking week to week though. And I know we probably can't beat a Penrith or whoever, but week to week, if you take away the top other three teams, I want to start seeing a bit more, I guess, killer instinct. Yeah. I think there's also, there's a part of me that's like, if you smash everyone or as many

[00:50:48] as you can, I don't know, like there's something against me that wants the heart, some hard games, like the closer games. I got that. Yeah, I got you. You know, you know what I mean? Like it's sometimes you can, you can put off the foot off the, take the foot off the pedal a little bit when you, when you're smashing everyone all the time. But I mean, you want them. It's good for the foreign against. It's good for the confidence. Like you said, it brings the fans through the gates because they think they're going to see tries. But yeah, like when the push comes to shove in those big games, if you, you want a couple of tight gritty wins as well, I think in amongst those.

[00:51:19] Now just looking at the stats boys. We had 54% possession. We had 73% completion rates. So 36 of 49. So we can improve on that. That's for sure. Five line breaks to one. Offloads were five all, which is surprising. We ran for about 200 more meters. Post contact was pretty similar. We had 27 missed tackles. That's not too bad for a trial. We won the penalty count seven, one, which seems quite dramatic.

[00:51:48] We made 14 errors. So we can improve on that. I believe that those errors are included with the roll the ball things. If you take away five of those, maybe it's not so bad. Yeah. Everything else looked pretty good. Nothing really alarming there. So I think Craig will be really happy with that hit out. Gary, any insight without revealing any Intel, of course, about what happens from here?

[00:52:14] There's probably, what, a week of training and then they travel more or less? Yeah. They travel next week. Yeah. I'm not sure what their training schedule looks like to lead into that, but obviously they'll get a bit of work done. Yeah. And yeah, there's a few little decisions that need to be made in terms of who's going and who's not and all that sort of stuff. But there was, you know, there was one moment or sort of little period in the first half there when we went 10-0 down and then Hazo dropped that ball on the goal line and we were defending

[00:52:43] for like three or four sets there. And you know, Fitz, he spoke on the podcast when you had him on a few weeks ago that he wanted to see a bit of connection and like a bit of grit and determination. And I think in that period there where we defended three, four sets in a row, just really well connected, really nice defense. I think that for me was when we were just like, oh, we're not wavering here. We're just getting on with it. And the points came off the back of that. So I think, you know, when you're speaking about, are we going to rack up more points this year and can we do it?

[00:53:12] I think off the back of that sort of connection and defensive effort, the points will come, especially on like the wider field when we get on there and we've got those ball playing middles throwing up to the line and going with the ball or going, throwing it out the back. I think, yeah, we'll get some more points put on the score. Now, Loki has written a good comment here. Looking through our forward pack has to be top three in the comp, especially with AFB there. The size of this pack will suck so much energy out of the opposition, which will open up

[00:53:40] the game in the last 10 to 15 in our favor. Expect some big, yeah. So that's a really good point. Thank you for that. That's really cool analysis of our forward pack. It's exciting boys. It's exciting. We've got the Hall of Fame on Tuesday. Some of us will be down there covering it for the podcast, which is very exciting. I can't wait to see some of the old guys and more current guys. So if you want to be at the Hall of Fame, you can buy a ticket, especially if you're a

[00:54:08] member, you might get a discount on that kind of things. Check your emails for that. There'll be links probably in our comments, in our description of the podcast on YouTube and on the audio. So if you want to click a ticket there, you'd better have a Chardonnay with Gary and myself. We won't be drinking, of course. We'll be working, but we'll see what happens there. But it's going to be a big night for the club. Gary, I heard a few things this afternoon about what's going on and they're planning some cool stuff. Yeah, it's going to be awesome.

[00:54:38] Obviously, it's a pretty prestige event for the club. And yeah, if you haven't got a ticket and you want to come, there's tickets on tickertech.com. So head on there or we've got a few links on sharks.com.au as well. But yeah, looking forward to that one. It's going to be a really good night. So see you down there. Now, Dan, here's a question for you from tonight's players. I want a serious answer because all your answers are always serious. I shouldn't say that was a bit mean. I didn't mean that. It didn't mean that to become out of mean.

[00:55:05] I want to know who do you think from our current 17. So I'll put it that way. Our current 17, who's going to be a future Hall of Famer out of the sharks? Hall of Famer. Let's hope Nico, because that means we've won a couple of premierships because he's that good. Yeah. I'm going to say that. I'm going to say that. McInnes hasn't been there long enough. So he's probably going to be one of the young boys. Mm-hmm. Let's go. Let's go with Britton Nickera. Ooh.

[00:55:35] Blake Braley. Ooh. Samuel Stone Street. There you go. I was thinking maybe another winger might come into mind, the guy who just signed a three-year deal. The way he's tracking. He's already there, mate. He might take a few boxes. I can't speak high enough for Ronaldo. I like your Braley comment. I think that if he can jag a rep jersey, especially at some point, he might be a chance. Josh, anyone sticking out for you at the moment? I know it's just having a bit of fun at the end of the episode, but... I could see a Wilson getting one.

[00:56:05] One of like a Wade Graham sort of workhorse that plays 250 games for the club. Yeah. He'll be a full captain eventually, I think. I could see that. I think if we win a comp with McInnes as captain, I think he'll get one too. Loki says, if Nickera finishes his career with us, go down to one of the best second rowers of all time for our club. Yeah. I mean, he's probably getting closer, to be honest. I know it's a big goal, but we've got some pretty good back rowers in the scheme of things, which is just wonderful.

[00:56:32] Josh, do you have anything more on the Insta or are we clean there? We're good. Yeah, we had a couple. Steve Archer. I don't know if you know, does that ring a bell, that name? Steve was on before, yeah. Please can I have an update on the new album? So a bit of a personal one for you. Gary, when's your new album coming out? In a couple of weeks. Thanks, Steve. Appreciate you, man. I have recorded a new album. We're looking at hopefully a winter release. So stay tuned. Really appreciate your support, hopefully in winter. Anything else there?

[00:57:02] Josh, are you sticking out? Yeah. Ben had a couple of comments in here. He just said that he's watching from, I think it's Mount Hagen PNG. Oh, nice. And he'll be off to Vegas Sunday week and you'll see us over there. Sick. And he also said how many players are going to travel over Gary. Ooh. They take an extended squad. I think it's 22. It might be like the Wednesday, the Tuesday when they name the 22. It's something like that. I think Gary's, I think Gary's.

[00:57:32] I think they named 21, but they're taking 22. I don't know. Right. Right. Exactly. But I'm pretty sure it's around the number. Yeah. How about the girls heading over? They'd be in the mix of training now, wouldn't they? Yeah. Tiana and Quincy. They're getting all set for that, which will be a great little showcase for the women's game as well. A good, it's going to be suck a good day out there at Allegiant Stadium, fall game. That is super exciting. Because when I saw that, I was like, all right, some extra shark action for us.

[00:57:59] And everyone traveling, like you'll be able to, I mean, I imagine the team will get a lot of support anyway, the Australian team. But for a lot of people, they'll be the first time seeing those two players in the flesh. A lot of our overseas fans, interstate fans. So that's, that's pretty exciting. I mean, they're covering so much. Two NRL, one women's test, Super League. I mean, we're all league tragedies. Like the Super League thing is pretty exciting.

[00:58:27] I don't really know who's in those teams at the moment, but that's going to be something. I mean, when else are we going to probably have a chance to see a Super League game? Like I couldn't ever see myself going to England and catching one. So this is like a, yeah, potentially a once in a lifetime in the whole trip is, but I'm seeing Wigan and who are they versing? Warrington, like the two, two of the stellar clubs who probably have some players we will recognize. I think Bevan French plays for one of them. He's like killing it over there. Like, so it's good. Yeah. Some players that we recognize.

[00:58:57] It's going to be wild because I think the four NRL teams will be well, well represented by their fan base. Hopefully the Sharks have a lot of people over there. We do know a lot of people are going, which is great, but I'm here to tell you, I think the Super League people, I know they're a bit closer than what we are anyway in, in geography, but there'll be a bunch of English Super League fans there and they're, they're pretty fun. There'll be a lot of singing, Josh. So we better get our, our vocal tunes in tea. We're doing some warmups. In tea, so yeah. Thanks to everyone for tuning in.

[00:59:27] Really appreciate it. We always try and do these when we can. It's a lot of fun for us. I was just chomping at the bit to jump on. I got to tell you. I appreciate the other three gentlemen jumping on. Dan, sorry about your tech issues, but we do appreciate your beautiful voice. And Josh and Gary, you know how I feel about you guys. Dan, when are you going to be casting next? We'll have something out Tuesday night. Full rundown, bit of talk elsewhere. Beautiful. Quick SG ball update. We've got some new, some new players to look out for. Obviously can't keep more, but we'll try.

[00:59:55] Um, and then rugby league outlaws a free plug where, um, that'll be out Monday this week. We're going back to our Sunday schedule, which is fun. Try and beat, uh, beat some of the biggest shows in. Yeah, cool. Awesome. Well, definitely. If you don't follow Dan at those two places, fins up and rugby league outlaws is where you need to go. And he does that with his very tall friend, Terry, who we very much love and adore, even though he has some of those crazy takes that he has. I'm just kidding. I'm hopefully he's made it through the end of this episode and I'm just razzing him.

[01:00:24] He knows that company Barnes is listening. That's awesome. Barnesy at sharks much, uh, fellas. Thanks for hanging out. I know it's late. Appreciate it. Thanks to everyone else for hanging out. Uh, for those who are listening for whatever reason or watching, this will be an audio podcast in a little bit. So if you want to get another kick out of this great lineup of Dover bowling nickels and skin as then, uh, that's your way to hear it again. Or you can do it of course on your streaming options. Fellas. Thanks so much. Uh, hall of fame is next.

[01:00:53] Three of us might be down there. We'll work that out. Uh, but we will have a lot of content, hopefully for you from hall of fame, some more episodes, of course, lots of plans. So stick with the shark house pod, follow us on the socials, hit the YouTube followed, give us all the followers you can. And cause that's just the way the world works. Are you following me? No, follow me, follow this, follow us. It's getting out of control. Like look at the screen, blue sky, tick tock, tick tock. I'm an 80 year old man and I'm on tick tock. Josh, what the hell?

[01:01:22] You know, what's funny about tick tock? And this will prove that I'm 80 years old. You open that up and it just blasts at you. Boom. Some sort of guy dancing on an oval or I don't know what he's doing. So it's, you know, it's Donald Trump doing a moonwalk or whatever. It's I love it, man. Oh, I can't believe I sound so old, but if you're on blue sky, give us a little, little love there. But the point is it's late. I don't know how to wind down, but I'm going to wind down. Thanks to everyone for all your love and support. We truly appreciate it.

[01:01:52] Can't do it without you boys. Love each and every one of you. And we'll talk soon. We are undefeated boys. We are undefeated going into the season. It's just awesome. Until next time, up, up, Carl. I'm going to hit the end stream. And for the audio listeners, I'm going to play the songs. Why not? Up, up, baby.
