[00:00:57] Hey hey hey, welcome to SharkCast Pod, a podcast dedicated to the greatest sporting club in the history of the world. The mighty Cronulla Sutherland Sharks. My name is Sam Shnazzi, OG 2015 and 12th season of podcasting. Having a great time doing so. Today's a whole lot of emotions and I want to go through it with you all. There are links if you want to dial in, you can leave comments or you can just listen and tune in, share it with your friends, family, neighbours, etc. Sharks lose 24-20 on the bell to the Melbourne Storm.
[00:01:27] Hell of a try they scored in the end. Weird old game, a lot of controversy as usual. I'm here to talk about it. So pros, cons, want to hear all about it. The only thing we ask is you keep it respectful as far as swearing and no personal shots for everything else is above board. And the club was quite successful today in FLEG, NRL Dub, Newtown Jet Sharks, Old Boys Day. A lot of good things happened today.
[00:01:53] Probably the only blemish is that results performance was a lot of heart and a lot of things to like in that performance. But as Peter is going to have his little caption up soon, there was a lot of 2016 right at the end of that game. Sharks lose 24-20. Let me know what you think. I'm just replying to a message here, which is very rude, live on air.
[00:02:22] Crowd of just over 12,000 or 12,000 something or other was here. Disappointing ending. Performance was pretty good. Like the three rookies did pretty good. I want to hear from you guys and girls about it. A lot of legends in the house and a lot of legends watching. Let's get to some of these comments. Wes says, what a great performance. Storm didn't deserve that victory. The better team lost in my opinion. I think that's fair. I think that's fair.
[00:02:53] Sean says, great game of footy considering a few undeserved tries awarded to the Storm. Yeah, the first two tries weren't really tries. Debutants all had a blinder apart from an error or so, but they all played well. Scoponi says, where has the energy been? I guess you throw in young kids who are willing to do it all in that first game. It's quite exciting, isn't it?
[00:03:17] Peter did say that the last 50 seconds reminded him of the grand final 10 years ago and a lot of grand final vibes here tonight. It was kind of a special night to be at. But pretty much in full team of, I think maybe Beal, Val, Bird, Bekuya weren't around, maybe something like that. So a lot of the legends in the house. Shaikh says, Polar was better than Puru and Gabriel better than Haradi.
[00:03:46] Who would have guessed should have had five or six games each, but the coach did not do that. And you can see what the actual indication is there that Shaikh wrote. Liam from the Royal Mardioc Club in Port Hacking says, that can't be an acceptable standard of refereeing. I thought it was not great, my friend. At the ground. Elevated. Not the greatest device site in the world. But some shonky decisions there.
[00:04:16] Robert says, how many milked penalties went the Storm's way? We're going to bring in a friend of ours who's going to watch his language. I don't need to say that. I'm just saying it out of, to cover my own base, he's going to be cool. Here comes TBH Sharks fan. Hey, sir, how are you? You're in the car already. How are you going? Yeah, I'm good. How are you? Don't need to worry about my language tonight, mate. Good. Hey, do you want to tell everyone your social media accounts while you're here?
[00:04:47] TBH Sharks fan on Instagram and TikTok. There you go. Beautiful. What were your thoughts? Pretty deflating, mate, honestly. I thought the boys, they really gave it a go tonight. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, just sucks to lose this way, but Breon follows next week. I'll wait for that. Yeah, well said. I mean, it was a killer that last try.
[00:05:12] You could see it coming from up above, and I thought they'd just done enough to stop them, but it was almost like the ultimate revenge for 2016, that last second try. But I don't think it takes away from the performance, my friend. I don't think it takes away from the performance. The performance was strong. It was good. That just got us in the bell. Well, we've spoken already about some of the shonky penalties and sin bins, and the two tries of theirs at the start were a bit, how you going?
[00:05:41] So it wasn't our night. But I thought, yeah, what did you think of the three young guys that stood up? I thought they all did a really good job tonight. Like, guys like Gabriel, Jones, Pollard. They were... Well, I wouldn't say they were our three best players, but they really gave it a crack tonight, and I was expecting that from them. And, yeah, just proud of the whole team, actually. Like, you know, that last try definitely doesn't justify the performance tonight. No.
[00:06:15] It is heartbreaking, but the great thing is we go on next week to play the Cowboys. It's all but confirmed. And the Storm are going to Bali or wherever they're going. And respectfully, for the first time in 1,000 years. So no shade on the Storm. They're a great club, but we're marching on. And I think that performance will give the club a bit of a kick. It'll give them a bit of energy. And I think players know this. There's players coming through the ranks who are going to knock on the door pretty soon.
[00:06:43] So great to see them out there. Go ahead, sir. I mean, it definitely was good for our future. And, look, it was definitely the right call from Fitzy to bring these guys in and rest guys like Hines, Braille, who else? Bureau, those guys being rested. I thought it was the right call just simply because, first of all, get them right for finals. And, second of all, give the youngsters a go and see what they're made of.
[00:07:13] Yeah. Yeah, for sure. And I like what I saw. And they got pretty hairy at the start with, I think, Gabriel's first – one of his first touches was a sin bin. And then Ronaldo was off the field. And the Sharks did well to hang in there. It was not looking good. But they hung in there and they got the lead and had the lead until the end, of course. So a lot to like. It is bittersweet. It is disappointing. We have to kind of remember that it's a nothing game in a lot of ways.
[00:07:42] I know that will get me in a lot of trouble for saying that. But there wasn't a lot going for us. So we march on to the Cowboys next week. We'll find out where and when. It's going to be probably Friday night or Saturday night. And either here at Ocean Protect or at the SFS. We'll find out, I guess, Sunday sometime, maybe in the next 24 hours. You get home safe, my friend. Anything else you want to say? Give it to me. What do you got? All I was going to say is up up, mate. Bring on the Cowboys next week. I like it.
[00:08:11] I like it. Hey, I appreciate you calling in. All right? Call in anytime you like. No worries, Sam. Thanks for having me on. Pleasure. Talk to you soon. See ya. All right. TBH Sharks fan. Follow him on Insta and the TikTok. We have another guest joining us, which is cool. Now, who have I got here? Hello. That's Ash. I like your hat. Is that your new hat?
[00:08:40] Yeah, I've got it. Hang on one second. I'm just rousing you, dude. Thank you so much again. It's all right. How are you? I don't... I'm out of sync here on my audio because I can hear you rewinding, so... I don't know what is going on there, but I can hear you loud and clear. If I could... If I could... I'll call you back. It's hard to hear. Okay.
[00:09:10] No problem. I've got you loud and clear, though. If you want to say something... Okay. Ash is going to come back. That's no problem. All right. All right. So, Dan says... I was 95% sold on Michael Gabriel before tonight. Make it 100%. Pollard was 100% going in. Make it 101%. So, Dan is happy with two of the young fellas tonight. And they were really great. They were really great. I can't wait to watch them back and study their film. But they were really great. And well done to both of them. Sean says...
[00:09:37] So, Hepa was tackling his you-know-what off in heavy hits as well. All right. Let's try Ash again. Still having problems. I'll do Facebook because it's coming through the Instagram. I don't know why. No problem. See how you go, my man. From Melbourne, smoking a dart. Is Lush. How are you, Lush? How are you, big boy? I'm all right, all right. Oh, man. What a game.
[00:10:07] What a game. First thing I want to say is thank God that happened this game, not 10 years ago, yeah? There's a bit of that going around. You're not the first person to say that to me. You're right. You're 100% right. Absolutely. Can you even imagine? I have imagined, but now I've seen it. It's like... Look, it was a bit of a heartbreaker. I don't want to sit here and blame the refs, but I do want to say those first two tries. Oh, yeah.
[00:10:36] Dubious at best. First try up a forward pass. Second try looked eerily familiar to our Sharks fans. Yeah. Yeah. Wild. So, look, we have a team... Like, I'm seeing Melbourne Storm fans online talking about how their half-back went off at half-time and they played with half a team. I'm like, did you see our lineup? Yeah. We played with no spine. Like, I mean, Kennedy was immense. Kennedy was incredible. He was great. He was all over it. Safe as houses.
[00:11:05] But, you know, really good to see the young guns get out there. I thought Riley Pollard had a fantastic game. I'm really, really excited to see what he does. Michael Gabriel as well. And Riley Jones as well. Like, just really, really, really good performance against a Storm team that has underperformed all year. But still, man, our rookies took the Storm to the very limit. Yeah. And that's what I want to see from a rookie. I like the fact they threw themselves in there. There was a couple of big shots.
[00:11:34] They didn't try and, I guess, win the game single-handedly. They're just part of the team, part of the process, but really giving everything they got. And all three impressed me in their own way. Yeah. Yeah. I think out of the three... I mean, just from that, what I just saw then, I think Pollard's kind of pretty close. I think Michael Gabriel did a great job too. So, it's good, man. It's good. I'm pretty happy. I'm pretty happy that we've got Michael Gabriel hopefully in the starting side next year.
[00:12:03] So, I think that's a big win for us moving forward. So, that's a really good outcome. I will say, though, man, like that try on full-time just absolutely took the wind out of the stadium, didn't it? It did. It did. And it should have because it was, you know, 30 hands and the whole thing. And when they went left and right, the whole area of my bit just went, oh, this looks really familiar from 10 years ago. Wow. And there was a few jokes. And then it was like, oh, hang on.
[00:12:33] And then when they went up the middle. Yeah. Yeah. They learned their lesson from last year because they did that last year. Sorry, from 2016. If they went down the middle in 2016, we were short. Yeah. Well, I mean, there's a lot of 2016 in the house. You must be glad you made the trip for – that must be one of the good reasons you came up here to see all the stars from 2016 paraded around. I was kind of fun. I got myself – you can't really see it, but I got myself the 2016 jersey and I got two autographs on it, man. Oh, who'd you get?
[00:13:01] I got the legendary Jimmy Maloney. Excellent. And the Clive Churchill medalist himself, Luke Lewis. So if I was only going to get two, they're the two I wanted. That's great. That's great, man. Yeah. Now, look, grass weekend, man. Really stoked. It was really good to see you. Shout out to both yourself and the boys from the Shark Cage for the pregame. Yeah. So we were down at the Heron Man Brewery and a great place to go and a stack of Shark fans. And it was cool, man. Yeah.
[00:13:31] No, I don't know how Tim got us to the stadium. He took us down some back alleyway for about 25 minutes. And we're looking around going, this doesn't feel right. But eventually, it was a stadium that appeared on the horizon and we just made our way there. Yeah. It's a cool walk, man. It's a cool walk. I'm glad you got to do it. I might see you in the morning. We'll have a little chat. Yeah, it sounds good, man. Yeah, let us know. All right. Thanks for calling in, my friend. Thanks, brother. On to next week. Absolutely. That was Lush from Melbourne.
[00:14:01] Thanks, Lush. We'll try Ash again. I don't know which one to try him on, but no. Maybe that one. No. No. Blues 4 says, serious discussions have been made in the offseason regarding our number seven. Pollard was magnificent. His defense is next level. He's ready to go for next year. I mean, I don't know if you're going to get that, my man. But he was terrific tonight. He's been terrific in his young career so far.
[00:14:31] He's got a big future ahead of him. Let's see what happens next week. Let's see how far we can go this year. But I hear you. I hear you. I mean, we need to keep young talent. And young talent like that is really worthwhile in keeping. So, all right. Let's try. You there, Ash? Might not be your night tonight, Ash. I'll just, I'll keep trying. If you like, it's up to you, my man. Let me check out the Insta crew.
[00:15:00] Everyone, everyone, Insta. Hello. Danny says, great effort from everyone. Melbourne are our new manly. We was robbed. Cam Webb's on there. The great Cam Webb. Nikki's on here. I haven't caught up with Nikki yet. She said, Sharks playing amazing. Last second sucks. Jay says, really disappointed with it. It's only using three reserves. I get putting more time on the legs of a few forwards like Rudolph in ULA. However, you could see we looked gassed towards the end. Okay. Thank you.
[00:15:29] Willie said, not often the better team loses on the night. Bit of backyard BS with the game. That's a good way of putting it. Jay says, Paula, Jones, and Gabriel, all the good things tonight. Some big hits tonight. Some poor calls from the officials. All starts next week. He ends the finals against the Cowboys. Yeah. Well said. My nephew is joined. Always worthy of getting the shout out. Jay says, did I trim the beard? Man. Hard to get anything past you. I'll tell you what, Jay. This is, you guys want honesty from me and you want the whole thing?
[00:15:59] You're going to get it. I was blessed. Okay. So this is not me being a big head or whatever else. I was blessed to be invited to a function today where the Sharks old boys were. I was going to get a haircut. I ran out of time. So I thought I've got to trim my beard a little bit. And so I did it myself. And only a little bit. I don't know if it worked on a lot. That's what's going on. No one cares about that stuff, Jay. Noah says, reckon that was not our fault. It was just the referee's calls.
[00:16:28] Thank you, Noah. Shark Cage said, loose. Willie said, it really hurts. Storm's first two tries were borderline at best. I agree. I was one of 24 in my tipping comp to stick with the Sharkies to lose that way. It sucks. Yeah, it does. Sorry about that. Now, Rex says, a serious decision by the NRL needs to be made in the offseason about blatant forward passes. And the actors scoring a try that refs and touches miss. We won that game.
[00:16:59] There was a lot of hokey calls. I'm with you. And I'm telling you right now, there is time in the play for one of many officials in the grandstand and in the bunker and everywhere else to let the official know in his ear that it's forward pass, forward pass, forward pass, stop the play. Don't let him score the try. Forward pass, forward pass, stop the play. That's all he got to do. It sucks. Thank you for your message. Appreciate it.
[00:17:27] I don't want to think says, I can see Haradi and Tom being put in next week. One of the centers. Keep one of the centers there. Tricky is back. Tricky will be back. Danny says that forward pass, the Storm's first try. Now, I'm going to bring in my man Anthony. He's becoming a regular. How good is this? There he is. How are you, Anthony? Heartbroken. I'd be lying and saying it wasn't heartbroken.
[00:17:53] But, you know, we go to, we go, it's, war begins next week. Like, yes, it's kind of an off game, but we could have, could have won it and have a bit of our momentum going into next week. But, this is Storm's grand final. I was going to say, it's their grand final. They, they, it's their grand final today. So, they can celebrate all they want. But, we're going to finals, they're not. So. Yeah.
[00:18:19] When the game's on the line and there's nothing to play for, you do all those trick shots and the flick passes. And, you hope they stick. And, that's what we saw. They stuck. So. Yeah. And, like, and, like, obviously they've got, like, Bellamy coaching to join as well, too. Like, he's been around for docking years. I think he's been around, like, like, throughout the entirety that I've been watching the NRL for life.
[00:18:45] Like, he's, he's, he's, like, this is the first, this is the first final series he's missed, not including when they had their points stripped. So, it's the first final series they've legitimately not missed through performance, which is crazy. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's insane. Like, like, to think, like, I think it's, it's unthinkable.
[00:19:06] If you asked any support, like, any fan, any watcher of NRL, like, a few weeks, like, point to start a season, do you anticipate, like, not just a storm, but, like, all the four teams, the top four teams of last season? Yeah. Not making to the final stage. I think there'll be, there's, there'll be denial. Yeah. Yes. It's just, it's just utter sanity, but. I like it. Like, it's cool. It gives someone else a chance.
[00:19:32] But they showed tonight that they've still got something in the tank. And we knew that, Anthony, we knew that coming in, they were going to throw everything at us. And you were down on troops. But the troops stood up, man. It was good. It was, it reminded me of some of those seasons where, I'm not sure if you were around watching them back then, but like, like, 0-9, 10, 11, just real struggle seasons where you wouldn't say we had the best team, 1-17.
[00:20:02] But it seemed like Melbourne or Manly comes along. And if you're dreading the worst and they put up a fight like that, and it kind of makes you proud and you go pretty close. That's what tonight felt like. And I don't really have a problem with that. I've got a problem with the last month of footy, but tonight I've got no issues with that. But, yeah.
[00:20:19] I mean, if you, I mean, if you had a few of the regular first starters in the team, like, like your T's, your like, Raley's, like, Nico, if you had like one or two of them in, like, I guess it could probably make a bit of difference as well. But then again, like, like, who knows really? And, but like, like full credit to Gabriel Pollard and, and Jones. They're, they've been pretty good.
[00:20:47] Like, yes, Gabriel had a bit of a, like, obviously he's been, he'll be a moment. Had so much briefings this morning and, and again, sent off in his debut game. Not the great, not the great debut you think, thinking of, but yeah, like, nah, they've been pretty solid. And like, well, like Rale Jones scoring a try on his debut. Like, I think since like, they only did like last season, like he's, because he had a debut game last season and he scored a try, if I remember correctly.
[00:21:16] So like, it's going to give him a confidence to the, to the, to them as well. Raleigh Pollard with a try assist as well. So, I mean, they all had a hand in, in what happened. So congrats to all three guys. And the coaches obviously thought they were ready. And, and they've all got, they've all got like a future here. Like they've all, they're all signed on.
[00:21:37] And, you know, you think Michael Gabriel after a performance like that, if he does everything right in the off season, you think he would, you know, if he's not first in there, he's got to be close. And Raleigh Pollard's, he's like the Nephi Peru this year. He's next man up. We've already had, I think, Blues 4 saying, put him straight in. I don't think that's going to happen. You've got Hines, you've got Trindle. When they're together, they're pretty good.
[00:22:01] Regardless of what you think of either guys, like just if we're living in a real world, they're probably not going to not be starting around one. However, Raleigh Pollard, he has got a future here, man. And you never know with contracts and that kind of thing, what pops up and what scenarios surround themselves. And I like him a lot and I hope that we keep him for a while and let's develop him.
[00:22:29] And the other Raleigh in the centres was really competent. Like he wasn't lights out, but he was involved in everything. Didn't do too much wrong and scored a try. And defensively, all three of them look pretty good. Yeah. And I think this kind of poses a bit of a dilemma for the number three spot next season because I thought Gabriel was going to be a bit of a shoe in next season. But then again, Giants had a decent performance.
[00:22:56] Like, could it be the case they're probably challenging week in week out for that spot? Is one or the other going to be there? I don't know. If I'm going to correctly, isn't Gabriel a four compared to a three in Cup? He's a, what did he play tonight? Left side? He's a left side guy. Yeah. He played in four. So, he traded in a response tonight. Yeah. Yeah. So, they'll have to work that stuff out.
[00:23:22] I'm not sure if Hero can switch over or if Michael can switch over. They'll work that out. But I think he gets the shot over Jones. But Jones, he's got that kind of versatility. And he's got that, he's a bit more mature in age, slightly more experienced. So, certainly handy. What else did you like out there, Anthony? What else impressed you?
[00:23:50] Like, the crowd is pretty, like, the atmosphere is pretty intense. Like, the atmosphere is pretty good. It was, yeah. Like, obviously, like I said last week, we need to have that atmosphere. Like, we're about to send the troops to war. Yeah. Like, Benita, that's happened. Young blokes. Yeah. It's just, yeah. It's just, there's a lot more fun in this game than probably the last few weeks. Yeah. It's a good point. It's a really good point. And a few of our listeners have already pointed it out.
[00:24:20] And it's like, well, you can put that down to youth. You can put that down to a bunch of things. But that's what we want to see the main team play like. And hopefully, there's a bit of a kick up of pants this week. And that's how they play next week against the Cowboys. Yeah. And just in terms of the young guys as well, too. Like, Fitz is going to have to, like, there's going to have to be an eventuality. Like, they need to try to keep some of this talent as well. Eventually. Like, there's going to have to be. And especially wide opponent as well.
[00:24:49] Like, if he's going to be the future of our club, then there needs to be, you know, this pathway for where he gets obviously regular minutes, like, where possible. Like, I'm not suggesting he goes ahead of Trindle or Pines. Like, I've got no doubt he probably will be the utility half next season.
[00:25:11] But there's got to be this planning place to not only retain him, but also get him to be, you know, first team ready for whatever. However, Ayns or Trindle goes. Well, we saw Trindle wait his time for quite a while. He was in the 14 number of weeks getting sort of five, 10-minute reps. You might see that. I'm not saying you will, but you might. That's a possibility.
[00:25:39] But they'll work it out because if they want to keep him, then at some point they've got to blood him some more. So we'll see what happens. Are you not moving in the car park because you're talking to me or is there a line? There was a lot before, but I think it's to start there now. So, yeah. I love checking out all these things. So I'm glad you're all good. We are going to move on to another caller in. But anything else you want to say, Anthony, before we let you go? We love chatting with you, by the way. Anything else you want to chat about? Any key points?
[00:26:11] Look, the Bill Bale starts next week. It's going to be a massive amount of time to get to at least a grand final. But, yeah. As long as we see the same performance or slightly better next week and the next couple of weeks, it'll be great. But otherwise, look, it ain't over. This all is over. So, yeah. I like it. I like it, man. I think we're a good shot of beating the Cowboys. Then we'll see what happens after that. We'll work it all out.
[00:26:40] But appreciate you dialing in. You get home safe. Keep listening if you can on whatever app you're on. But drive safe, of course. And we'll talk to you again soon, all right? Will do. Thanks, Anthony. What a ledge. Thanks so much. We're going to try and bring him up, up to 2016. How are you going there? You got me now? Yes, I do. Sincere apologies, everyone, about the technical difficulties. Now, what did you make of the 2016 vibes tonight? 2016 team.
[00:27:10] It was great to see them, even though there was a few missing. It was. It was great to see everyone again. I really enjoyed seeing them. Got a few selfies with the boys, which was really good. Nice. Nice. I don't want to get too sombre on you, Ash. I'm just going to let you know. I was at a function this afternoon with a lot of the old boys, and they did, I guess, a memoriam about people who passed away throughout the year. And your friend, Guy, was on the big screen. Everyone, you know, cheer. It's really beautiful.
[00:27:40] So nice little moment for you. Oh, that's really, really nice. That's so good. Thank you, Sam. That's really awesome. You're welcome. What did you make of tonight? What did you like about tonight? Well, the first 30 minutes, we were very slow off the mark. From what I saw from the debutants, really, really exciting. The future of our great club is in great hands,
[00:28:08] and I'm excited for what the future brings. Really excited to see what we can do over the next few years. Absolutely. Excellent. Now, season's not over. We play the Cowboys next week. Venue to become a term. Yep. But wherever we're playing, it's one of two places. It's Ocean Protect Stadium or it's the SFS. If you have the means, I'm not talking to you, Ash, but talking to everyone, if you have the means and the ability
[00:28:37] to get out there, get out there and show everyone that we care because this is our club and we're playing finals and it's important. That's right. We'll find out in the next 24 hours, that's for sure, about where we're playing. Sorry to interrupt you, Sam. I wanted to bring it up. So that last minute definitely was like the horror movie of 2016. Yeah. And now we know, even though we won the comp in 2016,
[00:29:04] it definitely brought back memories of that last play. And now we know what potentially could have happened. But at least the great thing is we won the comp in 2016. Yeah. And it definitely was on the edge of your seat stuff tonight. It was. It was very, very similar. Well, I don't think we'll still know the feeling because tonight it hurts,
[00:29:34] but we're going to shrug it off. Whereas if that had happened, and we've all individually thought about if that happened, you know, life or the world wouldn't have gone on, you know, but thankfully it did. Yes. And we got to celebrate all the crew tonight, which was awesome. I thought the club did a pretty good job. They did a fantastic job. They did a 100% fantastic job. And that's a huge congratulations to the club for putting on a fantastic event as always.
[00:30:04] Yeah. All right, Ash. So before I wrap things up, I'll give my three two ones. Okay. So my three points for tonight, I'm going to say, I can't remember which Riley scored. Riley Jones scored. Riley Jones, thank you. Two points I'm going to give Gabrielle to Gabrielle.
[00:30:27] I think he had a cracking performance and I am really excited to see what he can bring to us in the future. One point for me, I'm going to say hard to pick for one point, but yeah, I don't know who I can give one point to. They all gave it a best shot tonight. You could go Riley Pollard and you have all three guys who are on debut. So that's what you could do. Yes. Now also before I wrap things up again,
[00:30:57] I just want to say as a listener to you since 2015, thank you for always the great work you do. Keeping us in forms of all the news. No worries. We really appreciate you, Sam. And that's what we like about you. And have a fantastic weekend. Thank you very much. Thank you. Take care getting home. All right. Thanks again. There he goes. PK says, regardless of the final score, the future looks bright. All three debutants played well and showed a bit of aggression.
[00:31:26] I thought it was Nikora's best game all year. His defense was solid. And how good was Puru whacking them? Thanks, PK. I hope you're doing well up there. Sorry, I missed you the other week. Sandra says, I don't think we played too bad. The ref was a bit over the top. Bring on next week. That's the nicest thing someone could say about that refereeing performance, Sandra. Thank you. John says, what's with the sharks copying the bad end of the bunker cause lately? I don't know. There were some bizarre ones. Wasn't there? Peter says, gutsy performance. Great debut from our three debutants.
[00:31:55] I think the bunker must have had. Oh, yep. Okay. Thank you. Wes said, those cup players would be a lot better for the experience, especially if we need them in the finals. Very well said. Thank you. Brett says, great to fight back into the first half. Atrocious effort in the last play. Bloke standing around watching. Okay. I need to watch that one back. They were pretty out in their feet. I thought we'd contain them. During that moment. And then when they, they went left,
[00:32:24] they went right and they went through the middle. And then I saw it and I was like, but I'll watch that back that moment. Of course, Brett, thank you. Sean says, it's Gabrielle or Jones from now on. I do know that, uh, Fitzy was talking about Haradi and his injury not being necessarily, uh, good for next week. So wait and see all that sort of stuff. Chris says, proud of the effort. I think we'll flog the Cowboys. I hope so. Thanks, Chris.
[00:32:55] I don't want to think says, I can see Haradi and Tom back next week. Keep one of the centers there. I think we read that one out. Keep Riley, Paul and Gabriel there, even if Paul's on the bench. Uh, congrats to new town who, I think they defeated the Warriors today from memory. I've watched a lot of football, uh, and we won the NRL W, which was great. a rare win this year. I hate to say it, but they won. And flag was a crazy game. If you get time to go watch the flag game, go watch that. That was kind of crazy.
[00:33:24] Now I'm just going to jump over to the Instagram. What do we got here? Oh, Dave Ricky is on. Kieran's on. Kieran was fired up tonight. Stan says, Michael, uh, I don't know what that means. Michael can play both. He plays in it. Oh, Michael. Thank you so much, Stan. Michael Gabriel can play both sides of the field. Got you. Thank you very much. Rex says we're still in the car park, Sam. I'm glad that wasn't the ending of the 2016 grand final. Can you imagine if it was Rex?
[00:33:53] Hope you get out of that car park. Thank you so much for your comments. Really appreciate it. Tim says, Storm had 12 penalties in the first time. Tough. Someone had to go to the bin. So we had two guys go to the bin for different reasons. And you could see, I think from where I was sitting, the ref saying, Hey, you know, any more. And you got to be in the bin. Just didn't send them. Crazy. You say, fingers crossed. Gabriel isn't suspended. He should start in the centers. The backfield carries were great. Defense was also great.
[00:34:22] He missed zero tackles. Let's check out some of these stats. What we got you, Tim. I met so many nice people today. Okay. At a function and then at the brewery and then at the ground. Thank you so much. And Tim, not this Tim. I don't think a different Tim. Tim bought me a drink and I begged him not to, and he still wanted to. So Tim, if you're listening, I know you're listening somewhere. Thank you. However,
[00:34:51] this Tim is talking about stats and let's look at. So Riley Jones, almost a hundred meters. Got to try some tackle bus. A couple of missed tackles, to be fair. A couple of errors. Michael Gabriel, 110 meters. Some tackle bus. My friends at Fox sports. I got him with a missed tackle, but that's okay. It's one. Now, Riley Pollard was made to defend. They ran 30 times.
[00:35:21] That he missed a few, but he made 30 tackles on debut. The only person with more would be a couple of forwards. But Pollard had line break assist, try assist, try contribution. So pretty good on debut. So well done to those three individuals in particular. Dan says forward pass, try on the line, two sin beings. Young guys played great. We had more effort, but D will have to be a lot better. Thank you, Dan.
[00:35:52] Danny says not overly disappointed with that game. They fought. I felt we got beaten by bad calls. Gabriel is one of the centers next week. Pollard definitely in the squad next week. Okay, cool. I'm with you. I wasn't overly disappointed with anything, but the results like the result. It's a bit bitter. And especially in that way that they went down that last minute, but I mean, you're playing the storm. It's never over. Right. Peter says, I thought everyone played well. And you thought that let me do the math here. Jones,
[00:36:22] Gabriel, Pollard, and the two Puroos did well. Well, just too many mistakes. Everyone had one or two mistakes in them. The first half was a bludger has to be said, Peter. Are you thought that Ronnie needs to do better? He can't do that in the final running over and getting sin binned. Yeah, we all appreciate you sticking up for his little mate, but you know that you're going to be in the sin bin. And they scored a few tries at that point. Shake says, if Marwini gets a game over another center of the club,
[00:36:51] Fitz hasn't learned a thing. NRL Merseyside Reds said, bit of a bludger of a game with the errors. Didn't know what to expect. Energy and effort was there. Need to rest some boys and come back with a focus, discipline, execute our game and beat the cows. Yeah, it's all about the Cowboys now. NRL Merseyside Reds. And it's a very winnable game, but it's the Cowboys. They've got a free shot. They're going to throw the ball around. They're not going to die wondering. So they might throw something out of select tonight.
[00:37:21] What storm did, but we got to be better and just defend better. Danny says, you will. I has played his last game for Corolla. Danny. I thought he was decent when he came on. I'm a bit biased because I like him, but I felt compared to, for example, Toby put them both in the same kind of category. I thought he looked better. I thought he played better. And if I look at the numbers, the numbers are, his numbers are okay.
[00:37:51] But so 70 meters, 13 tackles, two misses, 30 post contact. Toby, I think played more minutes. He cracked a hundred meters, 17 tackles. Yeah. But you might be right, Danny. You might be right. But I thought he was, I'm, I'm, I'm happy to have a chat about offering him a contract to stick around. I don't think it's happening. I'm not talking anything crazy. I'm just talking about a contract,
[00:38:21] but yeah, I thought he looked fit and look pretty good. Chris says, it's been hard to watch. It's not fair. If you're not one of the loved team, I don't know what that means, Chris, it's been a long day. Appreciate the comment though. Craig says, Liam Rogers started with the Tom Brady pass for the storm. And Dan says that defense and discipline was terrible in patches. Danny said Oregon Kofusi was great, which I agree with.
[00:38:51] I don't want to wait. It says, how many forward passes they get away with? And no try overruled by G. It was definitely no trial. On the ball line, forward pass. And last try. Favourites is him yet again. We got to try this allowed last week, which could have turned the game. I'm not saying we deserve to beat the yields, but we were within six points. If they allow that for new Blake try, as opposed to out on the sideline, the next minute they scored, they overrule that try, but this one,
[00:39:21] it's a weird old world. Adam has written in. We need to take field goals close to the end. Pollard needs to replace Nico and Trindle will kill it. So Adam saying Pollard in. He was very good. Mark says it'd be nice to get Katoa. He's 100th try next week at ocean protect. So Mark's thinking we're playing at ocean protect stadium, the greatest place on earth. I don't know. I'm hearing so many different things.
[00:39:48] I can tell you that I heard from our highest being in the club this afternoon. And he has been on the phone with the NRL last 48 hours, trying to sway them. They're not budging, but they're also not saying no. And it's a weird situation. We all know now it's the Cowboys. Let me know what you think. I'm debating whether we're going to get more than a few thousand more there than we will here. Now,
[00:40:17] the argument is everyone who wants to go to that game will be able to get a ticket. But do you want a half empty stadium on one of your biggest nights? Or do you want to play here in front of a packed rock and ocean protect? I mean, let me know what you think. Let me know what you want to do. There's no wrong answers. Theon says, solid game tonight. There's a lot to like about this game moving forward. Excellent. Excellent. The legendary Cam Oliver. Oh, he's good at playing golf. Said,
[00:40:46] definitely go to next week with good mindset after that performance. Thoughts on Michael Gabriel playing next week to add pace to our back line, given the Cowboys centers are quick. I'm okay with it. Cammy, I'm okay with him starting. I saw enough tonight. I've watched him for a few years. I've seen most of his games and the upside is certainly there. I think that I say it quite a lot and get in a bit of trouble for saying it. But when you watch New South Wales cup, it's a certain level.
[00:41:15] And then you watch NRL is another level. And that's just how it is. That's natural. And when these players come in, they start to rise up to the NRL level. And I thought we saw that tonight from all three guys. Morris says, Michael Gabriel reminds me of Mark McGaw, sparkles. Didn't see sparkles at the reunion today. I'm not sure about where sparkles is at. He might've been. He's probably a bit shorter than sparkles McGaw, but Hey, if he's as good as him, that'd be pretty cool.
[00:41:46] Wes says, let's face it. We weren't expected to win tonight. Given all the players rested, we move on as a new comp. Now we win four in a row. Let's go. Let's go. Wes four in a row. Come on. Chris is saying best game I've seen him play. Not sure who that's about, but thank you. Sorry. These are a bit behind. I just had to get to the callers. You know what it's like. Danny said her HEPA was good, but Braley plays. We win tonight. Ooh, interesting, Danny. Interesting. Hadn't thought about that.
[00:42:16] I think if you throw in a few of our guys, we'd probably get them. Adam says the Cowboys won't have Ruben Cotter. He'll be suspended for sure. Now someone told me that he nailed, who was it? Don't tell me. Papa Leahy from Canberra. And then he went off and he came back and scored a try. And I don't even know what the other scores were. Let me have a look. Warriors won 31 to 30 over Manly. So what we're saying is Penrith and Minor Premiers,
[00:42:45] they need what? Two or three points to win. The Raiders beat the Cowboys 50 to 30. So this is why we can win against the Cowboys because they've conceded 82 points in one game, 50 a bunch of times another. Come on, man. We're better than that. We can do this. At least we can go to week two and roll the dice. Sandra says, thanks for the podcast. Thank you for listening and tuning in. I appreciate it so much. There's so much goodwill out there tonight and today about the show.
[00:43:15] And I really appreciate it. I'm not going to lie to you. We work really hard to make it as good as we can. And a lot of times it's a one man operation and you're looking at that guy, but it's really lovely to hear the feedback. So thank you so much. And just keep telling your friends and everything's cool. We're doing well. We can always do better. That's what I always tell people. Kim says, great night organized by the club pregame with the great whites, halftime with the champs and afterwards with the guys leaving as well.
[00:43:44] One tackle away from a win. Kim's pretty happy. I was amongst a bunch of that and it looked really good. I didn't get to see everything, but it looked pretty fun. So the love that this club has for the players and the players have for the club, it's super special. So you're going to hear a lot of things this next 48 hours about Ocean Protect Stadium, about the club, whether we get to play here or not next week, we're not sure. I'm leaning towards we're not going to, but it's not over as we record right now.
[00:44:14] You're going to hear people come out and say all this stuff about the club. And you just got to say, uh-uh, we don't want to hear that talk. We rule the world. It's not perfect. We know that. I'm not trying to tell you it is. But look at what Kim wrote. Great night organized by the club. End story. Shake says, whichever team loses next week, the head coach should be sacked. The two biggest underachieving teams of the last five years. Are you talking Cowboy Sharks?
[00:44:43] You put the Cowboys up with them? Daniel says, my heart is with the Sharks. Me too, Daniel. Me too. Let's jump over to Insta, see if anyone's written some things here. A lot of people there. That's nice. Hello, hello, hello. Peter said, time for this team to give Sam McCulloch a go in NRL. I watched him. I watched Flegg in Newtown today. Him, Tommy Dello,
[00:45:13] Jai Davies, and Jamie Curran are all getting very close to NRL selection. So Peter, I'm aware of all those guys. I've watched them play. They're all really good. They all have big futures. I don't know if they're all necessarily ready for NRL. Out of those ones mentioned, I might give you a Tommy Dello and I might give you a Sam McCulloch. I'd probably lean to Tommy Dello out of those guys, but they're all unbelievable. Don't get me wrong.
[00:45:40] It's just hard to throw a whole new team in or just, I don't know. It's, it's harder than that, but, um, said a visitor from security or someone, but, uh, I like all those guys. The future's bright. Hopefully we can keep a whole bunch of them. And I appreciate you pointing out all those guys. I'll say this. I think that Tommy Dello is the one that you throw in and he would certainly give you everything you expect. But yeah,
[00:46:08] Barnsley is watching the merch King. Everyone's wearing their merch. So Barnsley, I've got my shirt on. I bought this shirt. Barnsley, you're not aware of it, but there was criticism online about me wearing the puffy jacket, the championship jacket. And, uh, you know, people think I'm not allowed to say what I want because now I'm bought by the club and I had to set that straight, which I did. But the point is, um, I bought this merch and, uh, you're the merch King. And, uh,
[00:46:38] I saw a lot of great jackets out there today and you must be very proud dude. So appreciate you very much. Ms. Millgate has joined. I'm not sure where she is. She might be in Ultimo. She might be in, Brisbane for sounds Australia. Big Nico Hines lady. Millgate big Nico Hines lady. Uh, pug says what a game the young fellas had. Absolutely.
[00:47:04] Sharky's unfortunately lose 24 20, but we sort of knew what we were doing. The big worry was we're going to lose by 39 points or more 40 points. I should say, and then play Souths at Allianz. But I didn't think we were going to lose by that many points ever. We almost won. Brendan says, how HEPA looked like a man on a mission defense tonight. He brought off some great hits. I'm a big, big fan of how HEPA. I like what he does. James says,
[00:47:34] the only, I'm going to like this. The only green, the bunker saw between the ball and the dead ball line was the green 100 bills. They were getting to make the decision. Oh boy. Williams 2.0 says, Pollard is the real deal. Nico needs to pull his head out next season. Rather than be breathing down his neck. Yeah. I don't think that's unfair. I don't think any of that's unfair. I really don't. Corey says, that was heartbreaking.
[00:48:03] Aussie all the way says, forward pass, no try reversed. Worst reffing exhibition ever. The young debut players played really well. Thank you so much. Sean King says, if you can't play at Shark Park, Ocean Protect Stadium, do you have to play at the SFS or Allianz? Or can you play somewhere else like Canberra? Because obviously we aren't going to play at Stinky Cogra. I definitely travel to Canberra for the final. That's a great question.
[00:48:34] I don't think it would make a lot of sense to play it there. I think in the NFL, they have done things like that. When the stadium is not available and that kind of thing. And it's snowing or whatever. And they have it in a neutral venue. It would be a great storyline. All of us shipping down to Canberra for the night, for example. But you're right. We're not going to Cogra, mate. People say, this isn't a good ground. Have you been to Cogra in the last 30 years? They made us go there for two years.
[00:49:04] And we're not happy about that still. It's a good question. I think that they probably would prefer SFS or Allianz or potential. The Parramatta Complex as well. I think they're all options. The three sort of major, bigger size, modern venues is what you'd look at. I don't want to think, says Raleigh Palab was great, but what good is that when he's back to the Jets next week? Raleigh Jones and Michael Gabriel are also good, but who gets a center position for Haradi?
[00:49:34] I don't care as long as it's not Haradi. So, I'll say this, I don't want to think. What good is it? Well, it's a great experience for him. It's a memorable debut. We wanted to see if he was ready. We thought he was. He definitely is. Played against an amazing spine today and held his own. If he goes back to the Jets next week, he's going to help them win. I don't want to upset you. I don't want to think, but I think this third option there that might be named at center,
[00:50:04] we'll wait and see. He had a very good name tonight. His initials are ST, but we shall see. Maybe the coach saw enough and he went, I'm going to stick with that guy. We'll see how the Cowboys line up. John says, so proud of our team. The NFL pass and no clearance evidence to overturn. The other try, then Harry gets on Fox and has a shot at Ronnie. Classless schmuck. Well, I need to know what he said, John.
[00:50:33] Let me know what Harry said about Ronnie. Cause we love Ronnie. I don't mind Harry to be honest, but I love the use of the word schmuck. Going right to my hair. Right there. Peter says short press conference and with Fitzy and McInnes. The coach wasn't happy with the consistency of decision-making. I don't blame him. It was a below par average referring performance. And where's says Fitzy just gave it to the officials in the presser. There were four. Let's look it up. I'm just,
[00:51:02] let's look it up right now. Let me give you this. The penalties. We won the penalty count eight, five. We won the set restart seven, four. So they gave away seven set restarts. A lot of them were in a row. No sin bit. Sean also give you a suppress conference update. I love this. You guys, it means I don't have to have it on at the same time. Not happy with the forward pass. Inconsistency with the referee and bunker overruling them. Thanks, Sean. Appreciate that.
[00:51:30] Corey says too shattered to come on tonight, but God, I'm happy with the effort. That's cool, man. Appreciate you tuning in. Brendan says all three debutants looks like seasoned first graders. They all played well. That's awesome. Blues four says, notice how Pollard didn't use in the core as a battering ram. Instead, he went wide and we scored. That's pure footy IQ. Hines under pressure. Doesn't do that. He had a great game blues for, uh, and it was noticeable to me, the width in which he played.
[00:51:59] He's a classic halfback. I was sort of schooling people who didn't know respectfully about what he was like. And I said, he's a classic halfback. He may not grab headlines for running a hundred meters or whatever, but he knows how to play the game, kick, pass tackle. And he was cool. And I didn't see Nekora being a battering ram. I have to side with you there.
[00:52:28] Gavin says great effort by the young back line. Not a lot of structure, but encouraging if we wrap up the tackle more and stop the offload and cut the dumb errors, we win that easy. Thank you, Gavin offloads. Where are we? 13 to seven. And it was noticeable. It was, it really was. Chris says, hang on a sec. If we get to play at ocean protect, I hope we get to play at ocean protect, but if we go to a bigger stadium,
[00:52:57] I'll come with my family with a jumper on, up, up. I respect that, Chris. It's not for everyone in this place. I get it. And when I say that, it's not for everyone. That is already discrimination and it is already not good enough. So I understand that, but I don't like being told where I can and can't play. B, I don't like unfair criticism. Not talking about you, Chris, talking about the stupid people in the media. And I don't like sensationalism. I can't stand it because when you have sensationalism,
[00:53:26] there's usually not a lot of fact. Someone will take a photo of four port-a-loos and put that on the front page and go, look, it's port-a-loo city. No, no, it's for port-a-loos. There's a whole bunch of other toilets in proper areas that work. You haven't shown. So I hear you, Chris, as I've said all night, they're leaning towards not allowing us. So you may get to bring the family. And if that's the case, I'm all for it. I support that. Now, boy, it's getting late. Dion says, just watch the presser.
[00:53:56] Fitz wasn't happy the forward pass. Thank you, Dion. Ooh, Wes says AFB is on report for a hit drop. He said, there's nothing in it. We'll all be watching around 10, 11 a.m. tomorrow when they release it. Malcolm also says, not happy with the bunker and touchy. Thank you. Shake says, the ref was dreadful, but we lost because of awful ball handling and terrible missed tackles. Okay. I can't fault that either.
[00:54:26] Now, here's my man, Tim, the man that wouldn't take no for an answer. Nice to finally meet you. The hairy man after all these years of listening to you. Well, I hope I wasn't a disappointment in person, but it was great to meet you too, Tim. Super proud of our boys tonight. Energy was really high intensity. It was amazing. We deserve to win. Yeah, I think that's fair. And again, thanks for the beverage. I really appreciate it. And yeah, definitely. If you see me out and about, come say good. Adam says, first try was a meter forward. Need to end the bunker.
[00:54:56] They have a zoom and they never use it. Second try was dead ball line. Yeah. Thanks, Adam. Oh, here's Susan. Now, Susan was in the house. I think I'm exhausted after that, but really proud of the boys. The debutants were great. The officials were garbage and that's been kind. Susan, I think we might've missed you tonight. Kieran and I were hanging around, but, um, you know, glad you were here. Tim says, the referee hates the sharks.
[00:55:25] He should be banned from refereeing sharks games in the future. Hope that doesn't get me in too much trouble. Brad says, the future looks good. I can, I can't see how Nico sees out his contract. Things didn't go away. We were right in it. Great effort. But so just on that, I mean, I, as good as Paul had was, and I, I'm, I'm a big Paul had guy, probably bigger than you might know, but it's a long contract. Nico's on. And that works two ways.
[00:55:53] If they want to keep him and that he's secure and happy days, if there's a change of plan, it's hard to break those ones. So nothing's impossible, but I don't think that I think, I think that whatever I'm saying about putting pressure on the main guys to play better, that's an absolute benefit. And that's awesome. And I think you'll see that. And you have to, otherwise if there's someone chomping at your heels, they're going to take over as one game, but let's wait and see, Brad. Appreciate you. Mark says,
[00:56:23] don't be down. Rested five tall Tom. I just lost. New comp starts next week. Awesome. James says, I should have been playing since Tricky was injured. He would have complimented Heinz as well. Yeah. I don't disagree with that. I think he's obviously ready. I don't want to talk says bad refing is getting too much. I should bring in someone who can overrule bad decisions. I absolutely agree. And I can tell you there's people in the grandstand. There's people in other places,
[00:56:53] bunker like places watching and communicating with the ref, but they don't think to go, hold up brother. That wasn't the case. It takes, it is how quick it is. Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, or tippy toe, tippy toe, whatever your word is. And they'll stop. Wes says, I agree. We can be disappointed with the last month of footy, but not tonight. We had a crack and that's all we can expect. Absolutely. Cody, my man, like the stream, you heathens.
[00:57:23] So Cody is telling you to, if you're on YouTube, Instagram, wherever you're watching, actually, the three places you watch live Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, click like for me and for Cody, for Cody and for I am, we'd appreciate it. Share it around, comment, which you are, which is great. And, oh, the lights just went out. Doom. He comes down the taker. And that'd be awesome. So Cody's thinking admin. I love it. And just give us a like, if you're not following us, it's super easy.
[00:57:52] Just go subscribe or follow whichever word it is on your app, whatever you're watching on. It's free. It doesn't cost you a cent. And it means you get the shows and notifications. And that's how it all works. Thanks so much, Cody. Appreciate you. People are knocking on the door, trying to get in. Grunge, most of fuzz. Didn't expect a win, but really wanted to win the arm wrestle. Jones, Gabriel, Pollard. Give me good vibes for the future. Referee and referee Meg Smith had better games. Trial and dead ball line.
[00:58:22] Shocker. Damo says Raleigh Pollard was enormous and Raleigh Jones very impressive. Gabriel had some very good carries, but geez, the young fellas really rose to the challenge. Well said. Absolutely. Blues force says Pollard's only contracted until 2027. He can be spoken to by other clubs. I hope we extend him. I can tell you right now, I believe it's for without any official knowledge, acknowledgement or any, like this is me saying this. He's not going anywhere for another year.
[00:58:51] At least it'll be a multi-year deal, but they're not letting him go. So we can all not worry about that. Daniel says sharks are gone. They're gone. Awesome. Is what you're trying to say. Connor said, got to stop the offloads. Damo said Pollard is a gun half. Ralph Jones didn't do too much wrong. Shame he got wrong. Could have that last try. But defensively look good. Gabriel had some good carries, showed some signs of elusiveness. Thank you very much.
[00:59:21] Matt says, is there any new players coming in next season? We have Owen Trout from the Super League. We have, gosh, do we have other players coming? You'll have to, there's not a whole lot signed. We're going to sign a lot from within. I feel like there's more, but off the top of my head, am I forgetting someone? I'm not sure. Adam says, he's three, two, one's up. hepa three. Pollard to. Puru one. And Blair said,
[00:59:51] even though we lost our future looking bright, the loss will hurt them to drive it up in the finals. Adam says, I hate it that Nico is never with the team. Trindle's on the bench with the team and Pollard. Next year we trindle, you're our Gabriel. Are you talking about when he's not playing? He was up in the coach's box. So he cares. I don't know if that's what you mean though. I apologize. Connor is insistent.
[01:00:19] We stop with the offloads and I appreciate it. Don't want to think says the sharks flag have more good young place for the future. There's one big guy. I keep forgetting his name, but we're down 20 nil. He came on and scored three tries. He can't be stopped. His attack was nightmare. We have, I think that's Jamie Curran. You might be referring to. Tommy Dello is like, just going to say it really quietly. So no one hears. He's like gallon 2.0. There's a bunch of guys, big Felix for cup now.
[01:00:49] And there's a bunch of guys coming through. I can't guarantee you they'll be in the one to 17 next year, but they're going to be a lot closer with an off season. So there's a lot of good guys there. Adam says after the ref warned, both Melbourne had three, six again, that's a sin bin, but they didn't do it. Adam Flanagan says, I have no idea what the rules of this game are. Speaking of Flanagan's, the boss Shane was in the house. I'm going to get to some Instagram comments.
[01:01:18] And his last words on the mic were up, up Cronulla. How good is that? Dave Riccio. Oh, thanks Dave. I might have to screenshot that and put it on my resume or something. Let me do that for a bit of fun. Best journo in the house. Dave Riccio said, I want to say hi to the best NRL club podcast in the game. Well done. Shanaz. I sincerely appreciate that. Dave and I have a, what's the word? A respectful relationship.
[01:01:48] We both really just respect each other. And I don't think I'm breaking a kayfabe here. Dave's coming on the show next week. Dave's making his annual finals week visit. He's a very busy guy. We've already spoken about it. Unfortunately, I haven't locked him in, but I'm just putting it out there now in the universe. If you like us that much, Dave, we'll see you on the show. Dave did a good job today. He was at a bunch of places for his, in his position, doing a bunch of things. He's a great man. Hurno, who I saw at the brewery says,
[01:02:17] proud of the effort and performance tonight. The future is promising. Penn breast is at the game and saw the effort from the jump. Great work for the young guys. Some of the forwards AFB showed his leadership, saw him chatting a lot. Bring that energy next week. Well said. Jay says all 10 of our defeats this season are when teams have scored 24 points or more. Thank you very much. That man. Ali says being a shark supporter, he's so hard. Sometimes it can be, it definitely can be.
[01:02:48] But tonight we're looking at the positives because there was a lot of great performances out there from the younger guys. Oh man, it's getting pretty late. I want to talk on that, but I definitely can't. Definitely can't. Adam says if we, uh, one minute to go, 10 minutes, 10 minutes from the goal line, we need to kick the field goal and defend the kickoff after a breath. They won't have scored. It's been a few games like that. Marky Horn, who we saw at the brewery said,
[01:03:17] I had a beautiful ending tonight, a hug and talk with both Ben Barber and the peach. They both recognize my indigenous heritage and we showed love to each other. Well, Horny, you're a great man. And I love you. Remember, but don't tell anyone about that gig we were talking about. And I'm glad you have to catch up with those sharks. Greats. Uh, two of the great fullbacks, two of the best to do it. Ben Barber and the peach. I don't want to wait. Says, Tony played well, but Fitz kept him on too long.
[01:03:46] You know what? I don't want to get too negative on you, but I, I don't know if he was ready to go. He's that's okay, but I wasn't sitting there going, the guy's blowing me away. Ooh, podcast guy gets negative. I don't know if I would agree with you saying he played well, but I thought for his first game in the big leagues for a while, I can see positive stuff there. Um, yeah. And I'll say this. You said you could see he was tired. We lost that ball.
[01:04:17] He looked tired from the start. I know that's a Toby thing, but let's see how he goes after a week. I'm not putting a line through him. I'm just saying he wasn't in my top three. Gasly 10 says, what a fun night. Met a bunch of 2016 scored today. Enjoy the game. The boys did so well. And one in my books. That's awesome. I'm glad you had a good time. Hey, if anyone was hanging out with the premiership rings, I know two or three of our listeners were part of the 17 who won.
[01:04:46] I'd love to hear about your experience. So, and I saw a video, I think on the way here, where they were being presented with them. Awesome. Mark says 50% of the grants passes from the rock would be forward. At least it looks like that one TV. A full ocean protect stadium will look a lot better on TV than a half empty stadium. And the ground doesn't tear up underneath you either. Good surface. I'm sure that, uh, Dino's talking about the good surface. Yes. Troy says any guesses on what day or night we play the Cowboys might need to make the trip.
[01:05:13] You definitely need to make the trip because then we'll be four and O it's, I believe, and you can't quote me on this. I believe it's either Friday or Saturday night. You also say that the bunker should be allowed to overrule a forward pass. Mitch says, I'm happy to go to Allianz next week. The NRL control the game anyway. I'd rather pay the inflated ticket price to go to Moorpark. Thank you, Mitch. Appreciate you. So I'm not sure if you're aware, Mitch, but we found a metal head in the sharks club.
[01:05:43] And that is Rhiannon buyers, our second row up for NRL W who won today, by the way, she's a metal head proper Metallica motorhead. A lot of the older stuff that her parents were into. So if you haven't listened to Rhiannon buyers interview, I did with Jada Taylor, go listen to that. It's called, this is how we play it's episode four random buyers. And we talk about heavy metal and I'm like, you're the one Mitch wouldn't know. Mark says, brother, we overachieve.
[01:06:12] We're the smallest club with the least resources. We punch well above our weight compared to the powerhouses. I can't doubt with that. Danny says, I sort of hope we play the SFS next week. Tickets will be cheaper and a better chance of getting one. But I love the idea of paying people off playing at ocean protect. I love all that Danny. You know, I do. Will cheap tickets be cheaper though? I don't know if that's true. I believe you, but Daniel says he loves me. That's great. We all need to be loved. Thank you very much. Danny says,
[01:06:42] if Siffer is named at center, it's Fitzy giving up on the season. He should be named at prop. Danny, I'm just saying people are not talking about it, but it's definitely a possibility. Do I want it? Do I think it's going to happen? I don't know what I saw tonight was pretty good. So we'll see. Future dude says important to thank the likes of tele-car, Remy and Katoa for their service to the club, considering this is their final home game. In theory, yes, final home game. They might play a finals game here. We're not sure.
[01:07:12] It's definitely important. Definitely important to thank all those guys. Katoa was one try away from a hundred. Not many Sharks players have scored a hundred tries. It's a good effort. And they've all done a great job on the big screen. There was a goodbye to a bunch of people, including Braden ULA. So I guess they're saying that these guys aren't coming back. So, but you can always change that. Daniel says, I don't like the fill in for Trindle. I think, is that, uh,
[01:07:41] you're talking about Nephi? Is that who you're talking about? Stats. Davis says, happy with tonight. Reasonably happy tonight. Tough hit out for the boys. And a reasonable job for those stepping up. Thank you. GrungemasterFuzz says, the NRL, the same with me, 61 tackles. And he felt like half of those are in the final minute. My personal friends at Fox Sports have got on their website, foxsports.com.au.
[01:08:10] Give it a look on the match center. 44 missed tackles. And I think that's more accurate. Sorry to get political on you, but I'm telling you, I'm in the trenches. Go to foxsports.com.au. It's free on the everywhere. Adam says, the touch judge was 15 minutes behind the plan. The first try for the forward pass. The ref was just off the line. He was the one to make the pass call and didn't. What a jerk. Mitch says, Todd Smith won't get a final series appointment. Mark says,
[01:08:39] does anyone think we could get Moses Sully as an impact forward? Like Siffa is a similar build. Just a thought. We're not allowed to talk about Moses Sully because everyone blows up. Mark, you could do that. Now it's important to remember he's chasing us. We're not chasing him. It doesn't mean we're not interested, but we're not chasing him. Trish, legendary Trish. Haven't seen you today. Said Leo Jacques is the other player for next year, and he will be close to,
[01:09:08] I think personally pushing for a first grade spot. Stats Davis says, Dave Riccio is the best in the game. Speaks common sense. We're almost exclusively the rest of the journalists talk rubbish. Some love for Dave. Kim, if the game is at Allianz FSF, the NRL should discount tickets for more people can go. A free entry for kids. It was 90 for a category one season last year. Yeah, they do tend to rot you, don't like, because they know you want to go to the finals. But at this point, in this day and age,
[01:09:38] it may not be possible for people to go to finals if they're going to really bump up those tickets. So, we'll see. I'm not confident they're going to get over. I'm making up this number, but say, 17,000 at Allianz between those two teams next week, in the form they're in, et cetera. I think here we can sell it out. What would be disastrous if we had it here and didn't sell it out? What about this? Steve from Perth, Stats Davis says, Pantera was the first concert I went to.
[01:10:07] Another metalhead. Pantera. They're not mucking around, dude. Awesome. And Mitch says, horns up for re-re-buyers. Yeah, I told her. You can go listen to it. All right. I've caught up on those comments. That is awesome. Penbris says, myself and my little fella got a high five from a Rogers, Graham, a gallon, peachy and more tonight. Love this club. That is awesome, dude. That makes me so happy. That is what it's all about.
[01:10:36] The players are on their best behavior. I saw, I saw them at a pregame function. I saw them here. They were awesome. Hey, I'm going to get out of here real soon. So, um, just want to give you a warning. Just looking at some stats here. We completed it at 80%. We lost the line breaks off the offloads. We had the same amount of meters, more or less. We had more missed tackles. Won the penalty count. Won the set restarts. Same amount of errors. Kicked a little bit more.
[01:11:06] Kicking game was decent, I thought. And as far as players go, we've been through a bit of it, but, uh, try assist to Will Kennedy, to Riley Pollard on debut, and to Sifatalakai. No one's talking about Sifatalakai ball, the Billy Burns. Oh my God. So there's a little bit of info for you guys and girls. I can't thank you enough. I met so many great people today and tonight. You guys rule. I don't want to wait. Says, we wanted it at home. We deserve that right. We have a home game.
[01:11:36] Shark Park, Sagra, and we won't leave the NRL. I'm all for that too. So let's do it. Mark says, night, have a good Father's Day for all the dads out there. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. All right. At some point, this will be a party. We're going to bombard you next week. It's finals time. I know I let you down a bit in the last two weeks, not getting a few eps out, but we're going to bombard you. It's finals time. It's time to go.
[01:12:05] Go hard or go home. We're not going to go home. We're going to win week one and go to week two. That's what I think. That's not a spoiler. That's a prediction. That's all we got. We're out of here. Shark, sharks forever. I can't play the songs. We didn't win. It feels like we won, but we didn't. Anyway, Sean says that the press conference was like a siege mentality. That's awesome. And Troy says, we have a lot of depth, which is great. Jesse said, what time do the players leave the ground? As in tonight? Probably by now.
[01:12:35] I'm usually the last one out of here. It just depends on what they're doing, what's going on. And I'll say this. If you hit the local area, I think you'll see a lot of former sharks players of all eras hanging out. Luke Covell's in the house. 180 former players. We'll put up some videos and photos and things over the coming days. And we're going to do our summer series where we talk to the great whites. And we did a bit today of just short grabs with a bunch of people.
[01:13:05] And one of them was Ben Pomeroy. And he was like, unbelievable. He's just such a humble dude. And so stick to our socials. And you'll see some cool videos and photos at sharkhastpod on all those handles. And yeah, like subscribe, share. Got to get out of here. What can I play? I don't know. Some Metallica. No, I'm not allowed to play Metallica. We'll just get out of here with this little song that we all love. Hey, it's finals time. Let's have some fun. Let's go. Sharky!
[01:13:35] Sharky! All you people back in the Shire, turn your porch lights off because we're coming home with a trophy.
