[00:01:06] Welcome to SharkCast Pod, a podcast dedicated to the greatest, not tonight, sporting club in the history of the world, the mighty Cronulla Sutherland Sharks. This show is brought to you by Dyson Logistics, the Royal Motor Yacht Club and Port Hacking, and Jason Hawes at Crips & Crips Real Estate. Sharks lose 46-34 as a spoiler, a high-scoring contest, not a great contest.
[00:01:28] And that is the most times we have conceded 22 points or more in Fitzy's regime in a row, like five or six games in a row, conceding that many points. Clearly not good enough. I'm here for all your comments. Feel free to dial in. You can go faceless. You can have your beautiful faces. Just no swearing is the only thing I ask. Whatever else you want to do, do, but no swearing. Keep it appropriate. That's all we ask. And we'll get through all your comments. Appreciate you all.
[00:01:57] That's what I'm going to say straight away. Sharks lose 46-34. Crazy game. They raise the subject of, is this the game we all love? I'm a bit 6'7 on that myself. You guys and girls have already been hitting me hard with the comments, which is awesome. Thank you so much. NRL, SC Moonside Reds. Getting in early. Disgrace. End of the day, though we have no speed and it shows up in attack and defense unless we bash teams up the middle and play off the front foot. We're outmatched in the modern game. That's a lot to digest.
[00:02:26] I will say we scored 34 points. And despite this PBL modern game, that should be enough to win the game. So there is a defensive softness there we need to sort out, particularly on our edges. And I'm not just talking wingers. I'm talking edges. The future dude makes the all-important point. We avoided a conceding 50. We may not be so lucky next week against the Informed Tigers if we do not lock in.
[00:02:52] Dudes and dudettes, people who have been listening to this show, personal friends, they know I'm a bit worried about next week. And I have been for a few weeks now because if we're conceding 46 to the Cowboys, the West Tigers could really do a number even more so. But we'll get to that. James thinks our next points are coming from the bye. Well, we can get to that, James. Appreciate you jumping in.
[00:03:22] Aussie all the way says, harsh changes are needed. And yeah, I don't disagree with that. I don't know what they are necessarily. But boy, boy, there's something wrong defensively there. NRL, Merseyside Reds is back saying, how do we have such a lack of speed and outside backs in first grade and cup? Questions need to be asked about our recruitment. Others seem to have three or four faster than our starters they can bring in. Yeah. Okay.
[00:03:50] We have Stoney for quickness. There's not a lot of wingers coming through. And you saw Nicora Williams, who's a great center, be playing on the wing in the past week or two for cup. And he's quick. So, yeah, that could be an issue there. I'm going to get through these comments while I can. Daniel said, we lack aggression. I'm not going off the teams just physically, but also verbally as well. Stop playing slow middles like Hazel and Kofusi. I thought Cam was very good when he got on. I like Kofusi.
[00:04:19] Daniel, I thought he was pretty handy out there for a lot of the game. I had to watch it back, you know, point by point to see where everything went wrong clearly. But I hear what you're saying. I hear what you're saying. Ghastly 10 says, I like to think I usually come on here with positive takes when I lose and think we did well. But tonight is the worst I've felt about us to do this off the by at the Paul Green Cup on Anzac week. So Ghastly 10 playing on the emotions and he's more than welcome to do that. Yeah.
[00:04:49] The Paul Green Cup is huge and we don't tend to usually lose that one of late. But we did today. That's for sure. Also Anzac weekend around. The worst you've felt about us. Is that because you don't see much happening later on in the year or is that because of the game tonight specifically? Let me know how you're feeling. Future Dude says our winners keep keeping to their habit of not staying on their wings have to rely on Will Kennedy to stop them scoring.
[00:05:16] Yeah, but also I saw some tonight where they went straight through our centers and the wingers did hang and then they weren't much use. So I'm not going to hang out the wingers just yet for every tried night. That's for sure. The centers and even the edge back rowers, they were not doing their job, but I will probably labor on the word centers today in defense in attack. Not so bad.
[00:05:44] I'm glad you turned up Sam because we certainly didn't. Well, it was a slow start. Then we were all over them and then it was just back and forth and it was crazy and ridiculous. The second half of the first half, the 20 to 40, if you will, really kind of destroyed our soul. And that was probably where they lost it. I know they got back and do it towards the end of the game, but that wasn't pretty. It was what they could there. We considered four straight tries in that period. So I'll get to all that stuff shortly.
[00:06:12] Let me jump over to the Insta because all of our friends are over there as well. And if I don't get to them in time, dah, dah, dah, dah, dah. Jay says, good to see you have that indigenous hoodie from last season on. Yep. That's probably the best part of the night. It's a beautiful hoodie. Make sure you go get one. 50% said Sam, there is nothing positive to come from that. It was one of the worst displays I've seen in years. Okay. That's fair. We can find positive. You know that. But I'm not going to, there's no sugar cutting here. That's for sure. We're conceding 46 points.
[00:06:41] And that's, as I said, a bunch of weeks now where we've conceded over 22. And it says, not good enough. He also says, might be the edges, but we're going into games with wingers like Stone Street and Haroiti. That puts us bottom half. My friend, Aaron, one of my best buddies, spunk record says at our anniversary dinner, happy anniversary to Tanya and Aaron. Two of the greats in the world. There's a positive. Missed the second half. What happened? Well, Aaron, what happened was defensively, they didn't make tackles.
[00:07:11] And with the ball, they looked okay, but probably left it too late. There's a lot happening, Aaron. We're going to have to talk about this one. Jay said, while Hazo seemed slow or injured, he was still one of only a few forwards to make some yards when you look at the numbers. We'll get to the numbers. I thought Kennedy was good tonight. A few important one-on-one tackles and the Cowboys made some breaks. Yeah, I agree. I thought he was, I thought he was good. Not liked out, but it was, I didn't think there was anything wrong with him.
[00:07:40] Alex said, it's poor that the club can't even put a poppy on the jersey to commemorate Anzac Day. What culture? So just on that, Alex, I don't know, I don't know if that's an NRL thing or not, because they can only have so many jerseys throughout the year. And, and they're allotted what they're doing and they didn't have one this year. They're away, et cetera. There are other things happening coming up and even putting a poppy on might be considered changing the jersey.
[00:08:06] So just hold off on that one until we get some confirmation, please. Jay's disappointed in Trindle, who was quiet. We'll get to that. Hines did some good things in the first half. What about when he made that line break in the second half? Could have really taken us across to another point. B-Day Hurrell says, no line, speed on fringes. They could do what they wanted. Yep. Kieran asked, can we start swearing on the podcast yet? No, we can't.
[00:08:33] We can't change us, Kieran, because of how others behave. And I'm talking about the team. So there'll be no swearing, my friend. You can maybe say the word bloody or something, but definitely not going to change our culture. CJ says, getting Cowboys off their worst performance last week was always a worry. We do not need to get into a shootout, as you mentioned during this week, Sam. Yeah, I had that shootout feeling all along, CJ, unfortunately. Completely respect what you're saying.
[00:09:00] I don't buy into the whole getting them off that week last week and they're going to bounce back. It's about us, not about them. Like we should be better than that. And if we're not, we've got problems. B-Day Hurrell says, Kennedy's our best tackle breaker. Goes after it more than the others. Benny McGregor says, what was AFB doing for that Lukey try? I'm not really sure. Got sort of stuck in the play the ball. Yeah, we've got a lot to get through here. Now this is not good news. Dan says, Tom reminds me of Aaron walking Woods.
[00:09:29] I only say that because as great a bloke as Aaron Woods is, you know. But, played the game at the highest level to be fair. Ghastly Tan says, I know you don't like to get on the refs performances, but how is she an official? So, what I would say Ghastly from that sentence, and this is a me thing, not a you thing. I would take the word she out of that sentence because it's not about gender. And I'm not saying you're saying that. And I would say that Bleed the Sharp didn't have a great game tonight.
[00:09:59] It was a pretty open, fast, crazy game. But there were some things where you kind of scratched your head and went, eh, don't know about that. I think there were, even to our advantage, there were a few kind of knock-ons and that kind of thing that we'll let go. So, Deon says, interesting game. A bit of an update from our friend Ash said, I hope you're well. I started a new job in tourism. Well, there's some positivity. Congrats, Ash. Good stuff. Our friend Luke at Sydney Thunder Army, give him a follow, said very up and down game.
[00:10:29] Yep, well surmised, my friend. Ghastly Tan says, I feel like McInnes being back was good. Good some of our best minutes with him. He has something a team doesn't have and that's heart and determination. Boy, I mean, you're right about McInnes. He's absolutely incredible at heart and determination stuff. It was great to see him back. Future Dude said, Memo to our wingers, those not injured in on our first team, keep to your wings.
[00:10:57] So yeah, we talked about that before, but happy to keep talking about it. But Danny says, good luck tonight, mate. And I appreciate that. Appreciate it. Let's look at a few things. I promise you we'll get back to those comments and please keep them coming. So Sharks lose 46, 34. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. We completed at 77%. So that's down from where we want to be. 27 of 35. We made nine line breaks. They made 12.
[00:11:27] That's a lot of line breaks. Offloads were roughly the same. Run meters, more or less the same. We had better cut post contact meters. Now we missed a lot of tackles. Now that can change when my colleagues and other people around the world do similar jobs. Look at this more intensely, but at the moment we've missed nearly 50 tackles. And that sucks. That's not good enough. And that sucks.
[00:11:55] Not many penalties in the game for the two most penalized teams in the game. So that's good. A lot of errors. Pretty much even there, but almost 20 in the game. We had more kick meters, but actually there wasn't a lot of kicking in the game either. Just running, running, running. And we actually won the set restarts. So there were chances for us to do things there. We had more tackles inside the opposition 20. And we had more tackles inside the opposition half and we still didn't get the job done.
[00:12:24] So Wesley says we have some, so many defensive deficiencies. It's hard to know where to start. I tend to agree with that. I do tend to agree with that. And that pains me to say it because I love defense. And I think that we have some good structures there in place, but it's just not happening at the moment. And I don't really know why, as you say. Okay. It does look like they're, I mean, they started slow today, but they fell off. Let me look at the, the scoring here.
[00:12:51] They fell off probably, yeah, between the 15 and, geez, the 15 and 40 minute marks. I was being a bit lenient towards them. From the 15 minute onwards period, from 15 to 40 minutes, they conceded four tries. So that wasn't good. And I don't know what that, that's not a pattern for us because second half is usually our bad off. Then we came out and scored first. So it's crazy when you look at the breakdown of the scoring. Ugh. This ain't much fun. This is fun.
[00:13:21] Podcasting for you guys. Terry says, slow, unfit, no punch off the bench and definitely no X factor. Okay. We'll get to that, Terry. Thank you. Danny thinks Hazo should have been the player dropped. Grunge Master Fuzz. I'm laughing at a comment coming up. Grunge Master Fuzz says, thought I was watching under 20s touch footy. Yeah. It was very NYC, wasn't it? Attacking flashes, but rubbish defense. We're lucky not to have 50 against us.
[00:13:49] Uh, Kennedy's tackle on Chester one-on-one defense was, uh, the highlight. Otherwise there's an emoji of, uh, some poo. Which is not good. My big brother. He says, big news for Jets fans. He gets Stone Street and a Roddy back next week. That's going to open some can of worms, my friend, but welcome to say it. All right. Matty Crosby is going to go there. Bless Matty Crosby. And OG.
[00:14:18] Very poor calls by the referee. Lack of defense. Missed tackles. A lot of penalties given. And the Sharks snoozy. The snooze hit button. Ah, snooze button. Yeah. I didn't think the calls by the referee really affected us, eh? Like there were some really weird ones, but it was for both teams. And as I said, I can recall at least two or three examples where it went our way. Aaron said, oh no. Oh no, no, no. Next week's a huge game. I don't know how he beat the Tigers. McInnes coming good was, back was good.
[00:14:48] Excuse my language there. My, my, my lack of phrase. I'm struggling here because of what I was watching. All right. So tinfoil hat says, I was going to the Tigers game next week, but not going to go now. I don't want to see the Tigers put 50 on us on our paper thin defense, three losses in a row coming. This team isn't making me eight this year. This team is not making me eight. I can't deal with that. Can't deal with that tinfoil hat. Danny says, telekite center was a failure in defense. Attack is good, but we know he's good at attack.
[00:15:17] I think we need to play centers at center. Yeah. There was just no one there, brother, unless you kept Katoa in the team. And I'm not saying I wouldn't, but yeah, if you keep Katoa in the team and you can put Haradi at least in the centers. But there's no one else. Everyone's injured and that kind of thing. So it wasn't like they were waiting and willing for telekite to go play in the centers. It was just, he was the next best thing, which I kind of believed to be true, even with the defensive lapses laterally.
[00:15:45] But I hear Nathan says the squad has gone as far as it can go. Very interested. And Maddie has come back and said, not impressed at all gutted. Yeah. We're all pretty gutted. My friend. I come on here with a smile and try and bounce around a little bit, but yeah, pretty gutted. Back to the Insta. Hello, everyone over there. K-Max says, Sam needs to be dropped. Oh, you talk about Stone Street. Always coming in from his wing.
[00:16:16] Again, I saw a lot of it tonight. I did. But I also saw him stick a little bit a couple of times and it still wasn't enough. And I really think that no one's talking about the fact that Kale, who we love and adore, is really out of form. There. Kaboom. So, defensively, at least. And no one, not even other podcast people, love Kale more than I do. And I'm telling you, like defensively, he's just out of form. Ness says, unfortunately, Fitz has squeezed all the juice possible.
[00:16:46] We peaked last year and now we're on the slide. Some big decisions to be made this year, re-signings and recruitment. That's super interesting. Super, super interesting. Thank you so much, Ness. Jay on the jersey before said, last I heard the jerseys they're going to do for a year. Yeah, something circumstantial there with us not putting an Anzac thing on our jersey. I'm sure about it. It's not an intentional miss or accidental miss. It's a reason why.
[00:17:14] Jay is also talking about our time under Fitzy and this is probably the worst start we've had. Under him after this amount of time in the season. Ben says, we can't defend block plays. That's interesting and not good considering how popular block plays are. Jay is asking if Josh Hanna was the defensive coach last year. I get really confused about this sort of thing, but I feel like he was. But if someone can confirm that, that would be great.
[00:17:41] BD Hurrell is saying, is this our Broncos 2025 turnaround game? Line in the sand, 80 points in two games. I sure hope to God it is my friend, but I feel like we've already kind of done that this year a few times. Not line in the sand stuff, but I'm assuming this is our worst loss of the year. So it could be. I know that that'll interesting video sesh the Wednesday after the last loss against the Roosters in the bio week.
[00:18:11] So maybe it's going to get worse for him. Jay's also succinctly put that we've basically let in 14 tries in 120 minutes. That's not good. Kratzy says, up up Cronulla frustrating to follow, but on to next week. Yep. Cool. Appreciate that. Next week's the West Tigers at Ocean Protect Stadium. Any updates on when Ramien, ULA, Gabrielle will all be available again. So ULA might play for the Jets tomorrow.
[00:18:41] I think he's around and reasonably ready to play. Ramien and Gabrielle, I don't have a specific timeline, but it's somewhere between, I think, the three to kind of seven week mark. So it's not necessarily soon. And also good mentions to Ison. Good luck tomorrow. Hope he gets through the game. Does well for Newtown. Yeah, me too. Absolutely love Liam Ison. I believe he'll play one half of footy. So if you only see one half of stats, don't get too freaked out.
[00:19:10] Here comes Corey. Sorry to keep you waiting. Corey, I was on a different screen. How are you, my friend? Very, very disappointed. Yes, that's allowed. You can be disappointed. Tell us what your, I don't know, top three, what you're most disappointed in. Give us a bit of insight to what Corey's feeling. Because probably what we're all feeling too. Well, I'm disappointed with a couple, not meaning to be rude here, but I'm disappointed with a couple of the referee calls. Yeah, that's not rude.
[00:19:40] I feel like, I feel like some of them went against us when they were blatantly should have went towards us. Uh huh. Um, the other thing I feel like is that every time we had an error, we just went to our shell. I agree. Like, the boys are like, eh, we've made an error. Let's just see how we go. Like, not, not going, hey lads, we're a top four team here. Let's, hmm, let's defend this.
[00:20:09] Like, I feel like the players that I thought would have stood up didn't. Like, I feel like that was probably one of Blake Braley's, Blake Braley's worst, one of his worst performances. Are you talking the handling errors or more than that? I feel like he could have ran the ball from dummy half more. Um, cause every time he runs, he's like the best hooker in the game.
[00:20:38] Like no one, no one can stop him. Some of the passes were shocking. Yeah. I'll admit that. I didn't really notice too much. Like, I know we did a couple of things, but I didn't really notice Nico too much. Like, I know he did a couple of good things, but he wasn't outstanding. Like I heard the commentator say, this is Nico's time to shine. And he did one good thing and then didn't kind of shut, shut out for a little bit. Yeah, I agree with that.
[00:21:07] I'll tell you this though, Corey, if someone was backing him up for that line break in the second half, not only do we score, I mean, someone eventually got there. I think Blake got there, but if someone was right there with him, not only do we score six points, but I think that there might've been enough to sort of really throw yourself back into it, potentially go all the way. I know it was a very up and down, you score, we score kind of game, but at least put you back into that picture with a lot of confidence and no one was there.
[00:21:38] Now to your point though, after that I was expecting more and I didn't get it. So I, I, I hear what you're saying. Yeah. I, I feel like out of everyone that played well, I think Toby had an outstanding, and he was phenomenal. Like the runs that I know he dropped a couple of balls here and there, but just some of the runs that he did from the first hit ups is what we need AFB to do is what we need majority of the players to do.
[00:22:02] He was, it's like he had some spicy chili before the game and just wanted to run it out of him. Like he was, he was fantastic. I loved everything that he did with the backing up. I really feel like that it's not necessarily up to what can you do. I feel like any player. I agree. Like, you know, back in, what was it? 2014, 15, when we had Mickey Gordon, like every, everyone, he was backing up nonstop.
[00:22:31] I would even nearly say to Samuel, to Stoney, Hey, in attack, come in for a couple of plays and back up like Michael Gordon did. Yeah. First couple of tackles, you can hang out in the center and yeah. Yeah. I agree. I mean, I don't know about, I don't know about that necessarily for like you do that a few times throughout the game, especially when something's maybe brewing, but no, I'm with you. I don't, I don't think it's necessarily the fullbacks job to, um, yeah, to necessarily be that guy every time.
[00:23:01] And, and that was just one moment, but I think defensively, Corey, there's something not quite right. Yeah. And I feel like that Fitzy is playing the front row is too long. Like I kind of noticed AFB was getting those couple of minutes too long. Like take him off earlier. Like you need to have faith in Hazo and Kifusi that yes, they're going to do a job.
[00:23:28] Well, I don't, I kind of feel like this is just me, but like, I feel like he's playing AFB longer because he, I don't know if he kind of feels like that when AFB goes off, we drop down again. Yes, we do. But you need to have faith in Hazo and Kifusi that they're going to do a job for you. And I, I just feel like a couple of times there, AFB got caught out in defense cause he was too tired. Maybe, maybe. Uh, how do we get out of the slump that we're in? Work on all defense through training.
[00:23:57] Attack is fine. Yeah. I just feel like you need to really drill in the defense in the fellas. I, I said to a mate of mine, I said, maybe Fitz needs to get jujitsu with a couple of the boys. Really? Really drill it into them. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's not clicking at the moment and it's not like we haven't seen good defense this year on our line. I think it was the game. Well, the game against the Roosters in the second half where we defended the line for like
[00:24:26] 15 minutes and I know we conceded after that, but they, they showed they can hold their line. Uh, the wingers are copying it today. Defensively Corey. I thought that yeah, they should come under some scrutiny, but I also felt like I asked centers were pretty off their game, both centers. Obviously one isn't really a center, but I thought KL was really off his game. He hasn't been on it much this year, maybe a couple of games, but, um, he's, I don't know what it is. He's obviously got an enemy.
[00:24:55] He's had a terrific year last year and it might be like, you know, second slash third year syndrome, but yeah, I feel like he's not helping out Sam on that side. Should we say? Yeah. I, is we like, I kind of noticed today that the ones he should be defending, he wasn't the ones you think he'd miss, he'd get. Yeah. Yeah. Well, there was a couple of, there was a couple of times where I think, I think it was, was a Chester on his side.
[00:25:23] I think there was a couple of times where you think, all right, Chester's going to get through and then, oh no, KL gets him. And then you kind of looking at, all right, KL's all over him. Oh no, Chester got through. Yeah. Like, it's like the ones he should be defending, he's not. But there was a couple of times where I was screaming at the TV for Stone Street to stay on his wing. Yep. Like he was coming in too much. And that was, that caused, I actually feel like if Stone Street stayed on his wing for Scott Drinkwater's try, we would have defended it. Yes.
[00:25:52] So I'm not saying they're innocent here. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be leaving the centers out of the try cause blame, should we say? That's all. Yeah, no, definitely. I, like, even though Talakai scored two tries and two pretty good tries, cause he's very, very strong. He got caught out quite a fair bit. And Kale scored a hat trick. Yeah. Kale scored a hat trick. But like, yeah, that's why I had a feeling that maybe Royalty Jones was on the bench in case
[00:26:20] Talakai was getting corn to shreds. Maybe. Like, I feel like Fitz's mate would have brought him on. But there's something not quite right. There is something going on. I don't know. I can't quite put my finger on it. I don't know if we're waiting for this, that French assistant coach to come in and maybe that might help things. Like, I don't know what's going on. I think from memory he's more of an attacking player than a defensive player. Yeah. But there's definitely nothing sinister. It's nothing off field.
[00:26:50] It's not, there's no like issues with the players. Like they're all pretty happy. It's nothing to do with that. It's just not clicking on the field for some reason. So they need to turn it around. They got the West Tigers coming to town and. Well, it's going to be tough one. Yeah. I'm not the only one to tell you that'll be really hard. It's not, it's not like some impossible game. It's just that when we're conceding 22 points every week or more, you don't want to play the West Tigers. Yeah. Yeah. And we're headed. We're headed for another shootout. Basically, I hate to tell you the bad news, but.
[00:27:19] Yeah. And I, well, I was saying to my mom, I said, I can kind of tell early on how, how we're going to go. Hmm. And when the Cowboys scored that early try said, look, it's not ideal. We're still in this. Hmm. And then when I got to 22, 12, I was like, okay, this isn't looking the best. Yeah. And I kind of had a feeling. I was like, we need to score early and we need to take the lead quickly, but we just couldn't. Yeah. Take that next step.
[00:27:48] Like, I don't know if we do need a change. Like, I don't know if we need to blood some young fellas. I don't know if it's the boys are going out. They're going, this is the Cowboys. They lost by 30 points. Nah. Nah. I don't think so. As far as changes, uh, Michael Gabriel's out for a little while. Ramien's out for a little while. So they're not back next week. You're not going to change the halves. Forward pack. I mean, are you happy with the back row still? What are you thinking about that and Britain and that kind of vibe?
[00:28:18] Um, I feel like I would go back to starting Britain next week. I feel like he had a slightly better game than what Billy Burns did. Yeah. Burns was good in defense, but I feel like I noticed Britain more doing the harder runs. Yeah. He had that drop ball crucial, but I just feel like he was whenever Britain also was in defense. Yeah. Billy Burns was tying the space up, but I feel like Britain was actually going
[00:28:47] in there, creaming blokes and really making a bit more of an impact. So I wouldn't maybe nearly start Britain for 20, 25 minutes next week. And if he's getting dominated by the tiger second rowers and I would bring Billy Billy on. So Billy really is a defensive player. I know he scores some tries and that kind of thing, but we're looking at, you know, at the moment, he's got three runs for 30 meters.
[00:29:14] He has got 23 tackles, not a, at least stat wise heavy game from Billy Burns. And then we go to Britain Nicker who played less minutes, I would imagine. And he's got more runs at least around the same tackles. So yeah. Interesting one. I'm not suggesting the back row is the problem, but as you say, you got to do something here because they need something to spice it up a little bit. Um, yeah, I think I do feel like tele guy in attack and you saw it in the first
[00:29:44] half and even the second half, he spiced it up. Like he gave him early ball and he's, you can't stop the guy. So I don't know, obviously we can't go NFL, but if there's a way to kind of like bring him around those centers when he's on the field. And I don't know, I don't know what the option is, but my brother is left a message saying Sifah can't play 80 and I think he's referring to the defense rather than the tack. Yeah. I don't know, man.
[00:30:10] See, the other thing you could do is if let's say Billy Burns is playing out of his skin. Britain Nicker was a center in juniors. Yeah. I respect what you're saying, but we're getting a bit fancy here. We're doing that. Mainly in like, like if Sifah's getting tired in defense. Yeah. Like, like he was getting caught out. You maybe go, all right, Britain for 15, 20 minutes, just tackle your heart out in centers.
[00:30:40] Like, and then, like, yeah, cause I agree. Sifah's definitely not an 80 minute player. He needs to come off the bench, but obviously short on injuries and. Yeah, no. Yeah. It was a stop gap, unfortunately. Let me just go through some, some stats before my second computer needs a sleep. Uh, much like you and I, Corey. Uh, will Kennedy 150 meters. One try assist. Heroddy 140 meters. Talakai 140 meters.
[00:31:10] And two tries. Eero 150 meters. Three tries. This is the positive stuff. Stone street, 100 meters. Trindle. Trindle has. Oh, so no try assists for Trindle tonight. Three for Nico. Really? One for Blake. Oh, one for actually AFB got an assist as well.
[00:31:37] For maybe the pass out towards Talakai in the first half. How many meters did he get? 120 or so, which is the easily the most for a forward. No other forward cracked a hundred. The next was Jessica Holcomb with about 80. Rudolph was about 70. I thought. Hazleton was actually Hazleton was 90 as well. 90 runs, 90 run meters, 21 tackles. So he wasn't too bad. He's a bit of grief. Any update on his injury or? Uh, not yet. We'll stay tuned on that one, but not yet.
[00:32:07] Unfortunately. He looked, he looked, he didn't look very good. No, he better on for a bit. Yeah. Yeah. He, he played on for a little bit. I, I don't think he should have. I, I don't know if he aggravated a little bit more, but he, he said to the trainer, I'll tough it out. Like he needs me, but. All right, Corey, before we let you go, tell me what, what would you do next week, man? Give me, give me a definitive answer that I won't hold you to tomorrow, but right now, give me, give me something.
[00:32:35] Um, doesn't have to be headline grabbing, but what would you do? Would you keep the same team? Would you tinker with it? Who would you tinker with? If you can think of someone, here's your chance. I would, I would tinker a little bit. I would, as I know he scored two tries, but I would have Siffer coming off the bench. I feel like he's a lot better in, in the back row, even like front row for 15, 20 minutes. Um, if Gabriel's fit, I would give him a debut. Cover yourself up there, Corey.
[00:33:05] We are. This is an X-rated show, mate. Sorry. Sorry. Wasn't, wasn't intentional. Just messing with you. Sorry. Go ahead. Um, yeah. If, if Gabriel's fit, I'd play him. Um, he's not, he won't be. He's not. He won't be. Pretty sure. Pretty sure. That's probably the one thing that I would tinker up. I would like bring Siffer off the bench. Okay. So let me, let me ask you this. Would you put Hiradi in the centers and bring back Katoa? Cause we're saying the center is the problem, right?
[00:33:36] Yeah. Well, we are. Okay. Do the tigers have tall wings? Um, I don't know. They're just going really good, right? They don't think they kick too much. Do they? No. Okay. See this. They don't kick too much. Yes, I would. I'll bring Katoa in. I'll give him an ultimatum. I would say, this is it. You, we need amazing from you. Otherwise you'll be wearing the dark blue of new town.
[00:34:04] Cause I would, I would say to him, don't forget Ronaldo's a couple of weeks off. That's a good point. Hey, that's a good point. Yeah. That's the, that's the highlight of the night. There you go. Corey, you've got it the whole night. I'd say to him, Ronaldo's knocking on your door. Stonetree's taller and slightly better under the high ball. I'd just be saying to him, Hey, he's knocking on your door. So would you play Haradi in the centers or not? Yes, I would. Mainly because of how good he was last year for us in centers.
[00:34:33] And yeah, and I'm also basing on who's available. I'm not just saying he's out. Yeah. I, yeah. Next week. If it was up to me, Haradi centers could tell back to the wing. Okay. Um, I'd also, now that he's back in the team, I'd give him a kind of small minutes as well. Cause I just thought when he, when he came on, he was just like, that'll happen gradually week by week. I was surprised initially. I was like, Oh, when's he coming on? And I was like, Oh, okay. It's his first game back. It'll be second half. So that'll happen.
[00:35:04] It'll be more every week. Hey Corey, thanks for dialing in. We always love it when you call in. So don't be a stranger. No, definitely not. Um, I'll talk to you soon. Yep. Keep watching. I wasn't going to, but I thought. No, you've done great. You've done great. I really appreciate it. Really appreciate it, man. No worries. All the best, mate. We'll talk to you soon, right? Hopefully we get up next week. We got a hope, Corey. See you brother. We got a hope. See you mate. Thank you.
[00:35:32] Well, how it's not going to be happy with that last conversation. Cause they said, Haradi shouldn't get another game. Give the juniors a go. Well, I need to hear what juniors you got because I don't know who's ready and who's available, et cetera. Avocado shark said officiating created a lot of adversity, but the team just didn't handle it. Did anyone else see money putting his head against the show? I'm not sure about that. Let's get the Blair blares here. We'll throw in Blair.
[00:36:02] Hey Blair, how are you? Yeah. I don't know what he's talking about. Ray Marty was getting into Peru. I don't know. Okay. Are you at the Carrilla club? Yeah, not too bad, bro. Not too bad. Yeah. I'm at, yeah, you guessed right. We're at sharks of Carrilla here. I'm with Tash. If you, I don't know if you know him. Sam, how are you, mate? How are you? Good to see you brother. Good to see you. Good to see you. Good to see you. Good to see you.
[00:36:31] So just bear with me as a bit of delay. That's all good. We're going to bear with it. No, both of you, because we had a long conversation after the Roosters game at the Royal Motor Yacht Club last week, the other week. Yeah, we did too. We did too. Which was great. Talk to me. It was great. It was great. It was great. It was great. Look, you know what? I was happy about the performance, man. You know, I know a lot of people will be toxic about it. Yes. But you know what? I was happy that we come back in the end there. You know what I mean?
[00:37:01] It was such a, such refreshing to see the shark, like the boys just try to put up a fight at the end there, which I asked for. You know what I mean? Like, it was just so good to see that all the boys, Nico, Trindle, Braley, they knew that, hey, if we let Cowboys trash us, we won't hear the end of it. So I saw them when they just kind of trying to come back in the end there, they were doing
[00:37:27] so well, but it was just the little stuff, the, the, just hold on the ball, the, the discipline, you know what I mean? It was just, that's what cost us in the end, but you know what? Cowboys played really well. Tommy Dearden. They did. You can see why he's a halfback for Queensland. And you know what? That's just something you can put apart with, but you know what? At the end of the day, if I was 50, I'll be proud. You know what I mean? It's not a good, it wasn't our result we wanted, but I'm happy about that result. You know what I mean? We played, we put a good fight and you know what?
[00:37:56] I'm happy about it. You know what I mean? So Blair, let me just say you're a very positive dude. I respect that. I'm a positive guy too. You're a bit more positive than me tonight. I'll give you that. But I think if I may speak for you, I think you're also perhaps hinting at you're happy with the fact they didn't stop trying until the end, but maybe not happy overall. Is that a better way to say it? Yeah. Look, it sucks to lose.
[00:38:25] But what I saw from the boys, like Nico, he set up a twice to try assist. Yeah. Yeah. And the commentators were saying something about it. They were like, oh, is Nico going to do something? And he set up a try assist for Correll Ero. And I was like, oh my God, like we can, we might actually do a comeback tonight. But then it was just a little stuff, just the ill disciplined, holding onto the ball. Yeah. Like the penalties, like, look, the penalties still, we still got a lot of penalties that tonight.
[00:38:54] But I feel like compared to the last couple of weeks where Fitz is trying to improve with the penalties, we played better. Like whatever Fitz said in the first half, he said something and it got the boys going. And you know what? That's what we need. You know what I mean? Compared to last year, if this was last year, it would have been like 42-16. You know what I mean? Well, it would have been trash. But the Sharky boys, they went for the 80 minutes. And even at the end there, Correll Ero just, it's just bad luck, bit of bad luck, bit of ill discipline.
[00:39:24] And it just happens. Like it happens to like any of those benchmarks teams like Penrith or Brewsters, Melbourne, like they make those little mistakes as well. And it costs them a game. And Fitz, he will probably be more proud of the fact, hey, look, you put in 80 minutes, boys. It's just that little stuff we need to work on for next week, which, you know, we take on a good form Tigers.
[00:39:47] But yeah, I know Fitz is going to say something to the boys and say, look, in a day, you guys went well, but we got to work on some lot of the stuff that we need to work on. Because to me, that's probably like the first game I was actually happy about. I knew straight away we weren't going to win, but the way they play, it's like that's what you're going to be playing in finals. That's where you're going to be playing against the top eight teams. You know what I mean? So it seems like Fitz is doing something. You know, I trust in him. I trust in him.
[00:40:15] You know what I mean? All right. I have trust in him too. Now, I'm going to get to Luke who's calling us up. But before I go, let you guys go. I want both of you to give me your three two ones from tonight. Both individually. Give me your three two ones. Oh, I think tele-coy was number one. He played out of his skin. He was just. Yeah. Oh my God. He played like nearly like where he was in 2022.
[00:40:45] Um, Ero, which I feel like Ero being slept on for a bit this year compared to last year. Because I feel like Ero, if he didn't get injured last year, he would have been up there with Luttrell and all that. Okay. And number one, that's a bit of a tricky one. I feel I'm going to say Heinz. Heinz. Okay. He set up some good try assists. He set up a lot of stuff where a lot of other people would have, you know, criticized him on.
[00:41:14] But I feel like, yeah, he missed a conversion, but I feel like he tried to put something into it. You know what I mean? And pass the phone over. Yep. You already. Hand the mic. Who's your three two ones there, my man? Before we get going. Um, my three two ones. Um, my, uh, number three, I have to say, um, probably Nico, um, 40 play really well. Um, despite that misconversion, a lot of people are going to talk about that, but, um, set up a couple of things.
[00:41:44] I've left said, and, um, yeah, I thought he did enough. Okay. And number two, um, I'll go to Talakai. I thought, um, he was pretty solid, um, in the centers. Like a lot of people saying, including me that, um, he's not really that much of a center anymore, but I felt like he made a pretty good impact there tonight. Yeah. And, um, number one, I'll go Euro. I thought Euro was probably the best player out there. Um, okay. Yeah. Scoring a hat trick.
[00:42:13] Like, um, yeah, well, um, Euro is probably the best player. And, um, look, unfortunate loss tonight, but, um, hopefully about to be against the Tigers next week. Up, up. All right, boys. I love the positivity. Thank you so much for calling in. Don't be strangers. We'll see you down at the ground next week. Have fun tonight. You'll be out Sunday. We'll see you down at the Sharknage next week. Thanks guys. Hey. Have a good weekend. Have a good weekend. You too. Thank you. All right. From one young whippersnapper to a younger whippersnapper.
[00:42:43] This is my man, Luke. He's kitted out in his Sydney Thunder outfit. Although I can see Nico in the background. All right, Luke. What do you got for me, brother? Oh, it was, it was pretty disappointing, but I'm pretty proud of the boys tonight. Yeah. I thought there was a few good signs. The attack was, it was okay. Yeah. But McKenna showed some good signs tonight. I thought he came back, had a few strong hit ups, but, um, yeah, huge shout out to Cale Iro. He got a hat trick.
[00:43:13] And, um, yeah, he was looking really good. Hines, he was showing some positive signs with the attack. I thought Trindle's kicking game was a bit on and off tonight, but, uh, he was really, really good. Could potentially play for New South Wales. Not too sure yet. He looked really good tonight. Tell me, Luke, what are we going to do about the defense though? Like, all I'm hearing is positive stuff from you in the last two chaps, which I love, but
[00:43:42] you're not talking about the fact we conceded 46 points. How are we going to tighten that up? Oh, well, it looks like, I don't know. I don't know. I'm not on the back foot too much. Like standing around at the back end of the game. And it was like, well, letting score a few tries. Like, I guess fatigue got into him at the end of the game, but it wasn't, it wasn't first grade defense in my eyes. Yeah. That now I agree. I agree with that. I think that they really need to, I don't know. I don't know.
[00:44:11] I don't know what's going on there. I know they know how to defend. I know they know how to tackle, but something is not clicking. I don't know if it's a fitness thing. I don't know what else is, but you just can't be, I know it's a very modern way of playing rugby league back and forth. It's almost like touch footy these days, but still to concede that many points, you're not, you're not going to win a game when you're conceding 46 points.
[00:44:35] You know, you might, if you're conceding 24, but yeah. How are you? How are your parents? What's going on? Good. Thanks. Doing well at the moment, back at school and all that kind of stuff. Yeah. Yeah. First week back. And what's happening on the weekend? Anything planned? Oh, not too much. Just chilling around, watching the football tomorrow, the Dragons Roosters. Big game for you. Oh yeah. Huge game. What's your tip there?
[00:45:06] I mean, the Dragons, I know they've been playing terrible over the last probably seven games this season. They've got a new coach, so they'll be up for that. A new debut on in the half. So I feel like they're going to be up for this game, but as, as everyone's expecting the Roosters will probably put 30 plus on them. Yeah. I mean, you're, you could be very well, right? My friend, you could be. Uh, tell me who were you three, two ones for tonight? Three, two ones.
[00:45:36] Um, we'll, I'll start off, um, with our third best player and I'm going to go with, I reckon that Talakai had a fantastic game in the centers. I like him in the centers. He's really, really good. Mm-hmm. He made a few strong carries and, um, yeah, I reckon he was really looking good tonight for us. Okay. Number two, um, I'm going to go with Nico Hines.
[00:46:05] I reckon he was really good apart from that missed goal chance. I feel like we would have given him a chance this year. Like he, he's playing sort of out of form in a way, but, um, yeah, he, he looked really confident tonight, Nico. Mm-hmm. And that try he set up with Kael Iro was fantastic. And number one has to go to the man himself, the hat trick hero, Kael Iro. He, I feel like everyone set him up perfectly, but he was just everywhere and, um, he was making
[00:46:34] some strong carries tonight and really deserved a hat trick. All right. Appreciate that, Luke. Uh, thanks for jumping on. Please jump on anytime you want. Don't be a stranger. And we'll talk, uh, offline during the week about returning the favor, shall we say? Yeah, no worries. Thank you. All right. Give my best to your family. You do. See you, Luke. Bye. That was young Luke.
[00:46:59] He came to our watch party and he came a long way and that makes him a ledge. A lot of messages here to get through. Test name says need to clean out. This team isn't winning nothing by some better players. Stop resigning. Be greatest. Damien says the game changed when Trindle lost the ball after Nico ran through past it to Bray that led to a knock on. What happened with that call?
[00:47:26] No one's mentioned that with the one-on-one steal from Trindle. That looked pretty legit, didn't it? Avocado shark said, uh, felt the three edge player combination isn't working. Uh, Daniel said cows go down the other end score. It's off. Try through Sonny Luke. Danny says drop Teague for Nikara. Talakai back to the bench for Viola.
[00:47:56] Katoa for Stone Street. Colhoun to prop like Toby off the bench. McKinnis to lock. Now there is some tinkering there, but I like some of it. Some I don't like. Uh, I don't know about Chrissy boy CV. Just maybe I need to see it again, you know, at the top level, but I don't know. Don't know. Brad said we are garbage. At least we missed the eight. No positives here, Sam. Doesn't sound like as many positives, my friend. Matt says give Riley Jones a crack at center.
[00:48:26] You could Maddie, but it's a big step from cup to first grade. And I say that with respect to a guy who's slightly more of a, not journeyman, but like, like he's not Michael Gabriel, but maybe he's playing well for the jets. I'll give him that. Uh, GFM says look forward to hearing 50s press conference to hear his opinion. What went wrong? Underwhelming performance tonight. Uh, Danny said Brisbane is wearing a poppy on their standard jerseys. Thank you for that.
[00:48:53] All I'm saying is I don't know if it counts as another Jersey or not. That's what I'm saying. So we'd until we can get that information. I don't know if we can judge the club at the moment. Scott says 40 minutes is too long for them at the moment. Same with the roosters game. Nothing to give at the end of the halves. Yeah, it's a great point. It's a great point, man. Something I'm noticing. Dave says 80 points in a game is just ridiculous. It's not poor defense. It's poor rules.
[00:49:21] And our world rather mass injury tolls than HIAs as in like leg injuries and that kind of stuff. Welcome to the new normal. I don't like the new normal. Danielle says hard to get excited about those two losses. Absolutely. Blake Braley for life says what on earth was that? I can't answer that. Shane says pathetic performance against not top eight, let alone top four. Oh, sorry.
[00:49:47] Shane says pathetic performance again, not top eight, let alone top four. I think he's referring to us, not them. Lincoln says the team doesn't believe anymore. Either fits refreshes the team or we do this till he's sacked. I don't want to do that either, brother. JJ M says grab the guitar behind you and give us a song to cheer us up. Yeah. I don't know if I'll be doing that either, my friend. I'd like to, but I don't think everyone's here for that reason. Catherine says Kennedy and Nico are probably our best tonight.
[00:50:19] I do want to say from the bottom of my shark heart. Thank you to everyone who leaves messages and jumps on and it's, it's amazing. Like you guys and girls are amazing. I know I'm behind a bit. I jumped over to the Insta for a sec. Jay said bloke in a bar guys were saying how well might, I don't know about that one. Jay, maybe write that one again to me about the tackles. Uh, for J R G said, it's no secret. We had most of our wins come from the bottom eight teams. Last few seasons.
[00:50:48] My issue now is no teams are playing like the bottom eight anymore. That's an amazing statement. Thank you so much. Uh, Jay says, hope you have Clinton on again. Really good to hear his thoughts on the season so far. Well, we love Clinton and he's welcome anytime. He's a very busy guy, but I can tell you from his text messages, he's not very happy, but we'll work on that one. Okay. Okay. Jay said, it's starting to look like we've hung onto the same squad for too long.
[00:51:18] Hello to Chester. Uh, so reporting back from press conference, Fitz, he was saying we're playing too loose and it comes back to attitude. He said the change in combination that didn't work with the changes, but saying it's been the story of the season being too loose. Yeah. That's interesting. I'll have to go watch that one. Danny said three points to Nico Hines. Thanks Danny for that. Hello to Gary Dover.
[00:51:49] Jay said at halftime. I love this. The updates Broncos are winning 20 nil against the Bulldogs at halftime. Okay. Definitely give a shout out to our man Riley Pollard. Who's on a part of, who's on watching some of this. We love you Riley. You're doing great, man. Awesome to see you in the warmup and everything. Hello to our man, Crank Williams. Great to have you on. Go seek out Crank Williams music. Oh, so Jay was saying, sorry, thanks for this.
[00:52:18] Uh, fans of hero, the bloke in the bar podcast, but surprise defense has dropped off this season. We're all surprised at that. It's crazy. Loose says, did we actually successfully defend any sets on our line? I don't know. I hope so. I think we did. I think we did early on at least. Terry said, mow the lawns. We back home next week. Looking for positives. Yeah. Playing out at ocean protect stadium at the positive. Appreciate it.
[00:52:46] Blake says, it's weird. Nikara Hazelden and Haradi were very average. Trindle and AFB were off. Other than that, no one else was that bad. Just small errors from everyone else is what he's saying. Daniel is asking what Britain did. Uh, look like he was trying to be fair, but yeah, his stats aren't great. Uh, NRL Merseyside Reds said congrats to Ash on his new job. Need to find ways to slow down the game and get into it.
[00:53:16] Uh, much of a grind as possible. Instead of the deep bomb, kick the ball out and start with the set line. Negate the kick return. Yeah. I don't, I don't dislike that at all. I don't dislike that at all. Daniel thinks we're the slowest team in the comp. Scott said it's lucky Clifford isn't a better goal kicker or would be out of the premiership race. Yeah. We're getting closer and closer to that 50. Uh, Blake is, uh, Blake Bradley for life is asking was Katoa dropped?
[00:53:43] Look, there's no official official word, but yes, yes, he was dropped. You can, you can say that. It's not a crime to say that. Uh, Buck wit said season over some shonky reffing, but the season is over. Uh, Blake Bradley for life saying KL just really misses middle Talo. Doesn't have that connection with stone street, but taps.
[00:54:10] Future dude says St. Merge may end up winning three games in a row before we win one. It's so dire right now. That is dire. Stop it. Don't. Danny says, where do we go next year? We can't resign everyone and we can't sign a new team. I feel it's going to be a long couple of years. I said this a few years ago. We should not have signed Fitzy so early. So you're saying it's a coaching problem. I don't think Fitzy is the problem.
[00:54:36] I know he's making the deals and everything, but I just don't. I don't think that's the problem, but I like what you're asking. Where do we go next year? We can't resign everyone and we can't sign your team. That's very factual. So who do you keep? Who do you bring in? There might be a little bit of money there. So I don't know who's available. We're going to have, despite the 15 people off contract,
[00:55:04] we're going to have the same kind of, sorry, not the same kind of team. The majority of the team are going to be there. So you've got to work with what you've got. Tinfoil hat says the game's too fast for us. We can't when we play fast teams, they play all over us and we can't recover. It seems that way, but we've got to do something. We can't just keep losing by 40. But yes, I hear what you're saying. Blues 4 said thought McInnes, Hines and Will Kennedy,
[00:55:33] our lowest paid player was great. Well, he's not technically our lowest player, but I know what you're saying. The rest can walk home. It's a long walk from Townsville. It's a long way. We know it's a long walk back from Townsville. Okay. Our man PK, who is a former vet. And that's important at this time of year. It's important at any time of the year, really. But he is watching from the north of France, representing the Australian veterans and their families.
[00:56:03] Hope all the Sharks fans have a great Anzac Day. See you all for the Vegas reunion in August. Then you mentioned the Clove Valley Hotel, which makes no sense. But anyway, maybe you mean Carryingba Hotel. I think you mean Carryingba Hotel. PK, stay safe over there. Roger says, thoughts on Nakora at centre other than Talakai, who is the defence coach team. Look, disorganised. Work to be done. So, Corey raised that as well, Roger, before.
[00:56:32] And thank you for being in touch. I think, I don't like second rowers playing in the sentence is what I think. I think offensively, Talakai is as good as anyone who plays the game in that position. But defensively, against a team like the Cowboys, you know, it's going to bite you. It's not an anti-Talakai thing. It's just, and with Britt, okay, Britt's more agile.
[00:57:01] That's for sure. And more lateral. But I think I just want a centre to play in the centres. But to be fair to the coach this week, there was not many options, particularly because he wanted to give Katoa a stint. So that meant Nikara, that meant Haradi was next to go to the wing. That's the way they went. John says Anzac round and that's what they dished up. Which is, Dion's talking about Siffer being on report. Raising his knee.
[00:57:33] Tinfoil hat says he needs to bring in Gabriel once he's back and McCulloch would better suit it than some of these forwards. So Gabriel will be there if he's needed. So if Jesse Ramit isn't there beforehand, then you'll see Michael Gabriel. Although, although I say that with an asterisk because maybe he might need some time in cup. Like it's just because he's so young and inexperienced, he might need a gaming cup. I'm not sure. I'm not. Don't hate the player. Loosh doesn't think we're a top four team this year.
[00:58:03] Danny said Nico was our best. Friend Craig says anyone who thinks we are a top eight team needs help. Oh, this isn't going well, Craig. Trish said I thought Will had a good game. Yeah, he did. Trish, he has a good game every week. He's really laying down the challenge for the coaching staff not to resign him, I reckon. Terry also says, Will K clearly our best. Our defense out wide is deplorable.
[00:58:31] Mick says our defense looks disconnected. While Iro's attack looks great, his defense has really fallen away. Missed a lot of one-on-one tackles. Trindo was also quiet today. Yeah, there's something going on with Iro, and I have confidence he'll get out of it. He's a really good defender. We know this. It's been proven. But there's something just not happening, and someone suggested he might be missing his regular winger. I'm not sure. I'm not happy to necessarily blame it on that, but it's not going great.
[00:59:00] Kevin says we've regressed this year. Both of our edges are shot at the moment, and our opposition knows this and exploits it. Our fitness is not up to level. So on the fitness thing, I was messaging with someone who shall remain unnamed at this point, and we'll just call that person a regular listener. And they mentioned that they don't believe it's a fitness thing, and I take that person's word. And I'm not talking in riddles here.
[00:59:28] No one knew at the club or media. Just a friend of ours said, fitness may not be the problem. And that's an interesting take. Now, Trish asked if we've ever won under Belinda Sharp. And my second computer is having a sleep now, Trish. I can't answer that one. You know, I don't know. And I thought there was a wacky game and some wacky calls, but we just didn't defend tonight, right?
[00:59:58] Like, that's... But that's not what you're... I understand it's not what you're saying. Steven says, we lacked punch after 20 minutes. And I agree. Something happened. It was actually about 15 minutes. Blake says, not an excuse at all, but the ground was awful. People slipping over everywhere. Well, that's interesting to know. Big Brother David says, would you give Vaila or Jones a go in the centers? Look, you might.
[01:00:24] You might, for the sake of, if we're all saying that Siffa's defense isn't that great, as far as a center goes. He's a good defender, but as a center, you might. I think CV hasn't had much game time this year. And Rale Jones has been good, but I wouldn't say he's been like lights out. It's just he's found his position and it's probably in the centers. I don't know if he's going to give you what Talaka gives you in offense. I think the answer is Michael Gabriel needs to get fit. Sorry. Healthy, not fit.
[01:00:53] Steven says, I don't think we've adapted to the rule changes. He also says, Blake, Billy Burns ran for 45 meters last week and 22 meters tonight. So, yeah, it's an interesting stat to look at. I've noticed that before. He's saying maybe give him a week on the bench. This is a good point from Drew. This is fair. So we're talking about Siffa. He's a great player if the team holds possession. So in other words, have the ball more than you don't. And also don't keep putting yourself under all that pressure.
[01:01:22] And maybe he won't be under all that pressure. And again, I thought Siffa was incredible at moments tonight. So interesting one. Daniel is saying Pollard for Trindle. I'm not sure if Riley's still watching, but maybe they'll give him a little bit of a smoke. All right. Mitchell is saying Nicora to the center. So we're getting a bit of that tonight. Adam is referring. Oh, this is a bit old. Sorry. Adam is talking about the Tigers wingers saying that they're tall. So we got that one wrong.
[01:01:50] Terry says, let's not stress about Siffa defending the centers. The Sharks can't beat fast teams. He got caught out tonight, but against an average team, he dominates. Yeah. I mean, I understand that too. That's, that's fair. I think that was a bit of the struggle though, because we were like, oh, we've got the Cowboys this week and we're playing this really quick young back line. So that was where the concern was. So Blake Bradley for life said, how was Katoa dropped? He's been one of our best players. He gets meters. It's been brilliant.
[01:02:18] Every play in the centers. He deserves a spot. He hasn't been deserving to be dropped. So you can't play Siffa in the, sorry, you can't play Katoa in the centers. He's a winger out now winger. Uh, I don't know why he was dropped. I can only imagine it was based on the Perth game and maybe there was other things in, I don't know.
[01:02:41] I can't even tell you, but he, he, without the club saying it, he was relieved of his duties for the week. Should we say Adam says, oh boy, here we go. Now this is, this is a good old boy. Cause I respect what he's saying. If Ison kills it over the next few weeks, bring him up and give the wing to Kennedy tall, fast and another option. Look, I love the open mindness of it. I love the optimism.
[01:03:09] I like the fact you're not really relegating Kennedy in a sense, but I think Ison is not ready. Like I think you'll need, and this is just me talking, no club talk here or whatever. This is me representing me. I feel like you will need, unless the whole team goes down like, you know, 10, 12, 15 weeks. Like he needs good, consistent footy. He's been out of the game forever. He's only a kid. And I could be wrong with that, but I think he needs some time playing cup.
[01:03:39] Also Kennedy on the wing. I mean, there'd be some positives there, but I, Kennedy's killing it guys. Like he's killing it. So I don't, I completely respect that Adam and appreciate you saying it. I'm glad you said it, but it's a no from me. John says, evening, evening to you, John. Fitz says, disappointing. One of those games will rue come end of August. There's a lot of those now.
[01:04:06] I must admit though, back in my day when dinosaurs roamed the earth, if you told me we'd have a 46, 34 score line, I'd tell you to lay off the drugs and seek some help. Hey, it's a new way to be. Uh, Roger said, thanks to Corey for coming on. Good perspective on the game. You had some great views. Well done. So there's some positivity there from Roger for Corey. Really, really appreciate that. Uh, Adam wasn't happy with Teague.
[01:04:32] John made the trip up, said, first of all, great experience. He's here with the family. The stadium is next level. Shark Park in comparison is a conversation for another time. Phew. I don't know if I can do Shark Park tonight guys. Uh, just felt they were too fast for us. They were, they were. And I, you know what? I think Blair who was on from Carrillo before, I know he was very positive about everything and that's who he is and bless him for it.
[01:05:00] But he made a good point that they didn't stop trying to score tries. It would have been nice if they tried to stop tries being scored, but to the Sharks credit, they didn't stop trying to win the game. So, but as John says, they were too fast for us. Hope you have a great time there. Safe travels. Uh, well done. What else can I say? Well done. Marky Mark said, maybe swap Roo off the bench. Keep Kifusi starting forward. So have his defense at the start. Then Toby keeps the intensity that goes missing when starting forwards are off.
[01:05:31] I don't mind it. I thought Toby was great, uh, in that way. Like he did have some drop balls, but like, he looked like he was being fired from a cannon and that's cool. Uh, but I don't. Yeah. Either way. I think those forwards are very kind of, excuse the pun, interchangeable. I like Kifusi coming off though with that offload. I think he's really underrated by a lot of our fans. John says, we can't defend. That is the base you start with.
[01:06:00] Uh, Matthew says, Trindle generally missing or was proven as too slow. Siffer too slow in defense line speed, non-existent. The turning point was Trindle's strip calls a penalty. Let down with a touchy who should have called earlier that the Cowboys had lost possession. Yeah, it was a big call. I mean, I'm not willing to say anything more than it was a big call. I'm probably the wrong call. I mean, if I'm proven wrong, then I will apologize, but it looked all right to me.
[01:06:28] And I understand how you can get that wrong from a referring point of view, cause you're only seeing an angle or whatever, but yeah, someone's going to help you out with those. Daniel said, there's zero to be happy about other than Cam coming back. And I think that's fair. Like that's, I've got no problem with you saying that, Daniel. You know, I know everyone wants to paint me as Mr. Positivity, but I've got no problem with you saying that because you know what? It wasn't much fun out there. Even all those, all the fun tries and everything and the, oh, can we get back into it?
[01:06:56] But when I look at that scoreline, that's not fun. Test name says, let's face it. Top four slipped away already. Season's getting away from us. Won't make up the points at the end unless we go on a long run. So hear what you're saying. It's a long season. You are one to two wins away from top four. Let's not get away from that either. Whether that makes it right, whether it makes you a good team, I can't answer that. But at the moment of this comp, you can turn around pretty quick.
[01:07:26] Now they want to turn around that defense really quickly. I can't quite grip my head around that. 46 points. Like get the hell out of here. Chad said, awful performance. Our defense has become a shambles. It's very embarrassing. Joe from Mr. Paisley said, think Britain Nicker experiment for the bench needs to end. Defensively, we were dreadful. Attacking wise got a pass mark.
[01:07:52] And Mark is asking about magic round and a pub meetup. So at the moment, it's a X. We will get back to you about that because there might be some things happening. So we'll let you know. I can tell you that I'm almost certain that a friend of the show, former player and family great Donnie Rogers will be playing.
[01:08:19] I think a show right after the second game on the Friday and the pub, the venue is like 15 meters from the stadium. So we'll get confirmation. Then we'll get everyone from the stadium into that venue. And he plays country music. It doesn't matter if you like music or not. You just go to this venue and have a good time with heaps of Sharks fans. But as far as Shark cast, wait and see. Yeah. Appreciate you, Mark. Appreciate you very much.
[01:08:46] Roger says attitude and communication is the problem when you concede 40 points. Blake Bradley for life says, call who needs more minutes. Danny says, any chance of getting Dan Nichols on to discuss the juniors in New South Wales Cup? Yeah, there's always a chance of that. He's a friend of ours on the show. But, you know, he's got 4,000 of his own shows to do.
[01:09:10] But yeah, you know, there's a rotation man and Dan will be back and, you know, he'll blame everything on Sione Katoa. Joke. Joke. Mark says, the Puru brothers need a chance in the team. I would say Hojepa does. And I think Nephi is always improving. Like, I'm kind of hopeful that that man Riley Pollard can kind of go neck and neck with Nephi and it's a flip of the coin. Who's going to play? Yeah, that'd be exciting.
[01:09:41] Darby. One coming up from reserve grade would do well, would fit him with all the other reserve grade performances. Boomtish. My brother asks, when do we get the Dargans? It's like maybe five or six weeks away, I want to say. It's not immediate. Jared says, the most concerning part is that it comes just after the buy as well. Jack says, down, down. That's Jack from Melbourne, I think. Troy says, what changes would you make for next week?
[01:10:11] Would you start Nikora and McInnes? I wouldn't start Cam. It's just way too early in his recovery. Nikora, I'd think about. I'd think about. I don't know if that's the problem, but I would think about it just for a bit of a change. I don't know. You need to do something, but then you can't do all the changes because that's just not going to work. Maybe. I'm just looking at where we go wrong.
[01:10:36] That seems to be like that 20 to 40 minute mark today, at least. So is that something to do with the subs? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
[01:10:48] I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
[01:11:21] I don't know. I don't know.
[01:11:35] I don't know. I don't know.
[01:12:05] I don't know. I don't know a lot of people. Okay. So, Jay said, any chance taking one or two live calls on teamless Tuesday? uh yeah i mean maybe the problem with that is there's a bit of a time limit there for me on my end so that's why jay uh sometimes it's not a great time for it but maybe when i can i will
[01:12:33] as some kind of half promise i appreciate the question i think i've missed that before so thanks for that dame neely said i feel like they ran big tommy a bit too much jay said would you be trying felix fartili in the coming weeks off the bench oh so jay go back a minute and hear me talk about riley and about sam mcculloch and it's kind of the
[01:13:00] same thing like don't get me wrong like they're great at what they do like felix is a beast everyone can see it it's just when's the right time because you really can stifle a career i guess if it's not the right time but i i think there's hope for felix in the near future maybe next year to be you know in a position to maybe do something i personally wouldn't i wouldn't rush these guys to
[01:13:29] be honest but i think he's really good hello nicky who's joined she's a big supporter of what we do jay said i wonder if we should have talakai as a prop in the team yeah i've always said that i think that he could be a prop you're not getting that uh attack necessarily that he brings out wide but i like that idea uh queensland shark boy was there and the talk was super quiet so that's never good to hear jay gave me an update on the bulldog score thank you our friend claudia queensland
[01:14:00] joined i'm not sure if having gerard sutton at training this week helped that much uh maybe pull out off the bench maybe and from jay it's a no for kennedy on the wing uh jay points out that right now our squad our youngest squad player is 24 are we missing a chance to blood a kid or two off the bench most of the team is 28 years or over kieran says the game
[01:14:27] ended like two hours this is still going it says a lot well that's not true kieran because i can talk underwater about these guys you know that you know win lose or draw trials christmas episodes kieran i feel like there's friction between kieran and i i know there's not i'm just kidding there's no there's not there's not there's not let's get kieran on next week to have his say uh no jay there's no negativity he's saying i really need to get on for a live cross instead of sending a million messages on instagram you're welcome to brother but you don't have to because i know you your
[01:14:56] situation's a bit different you can't always do that thanks for everyone over there on the insta jesse wasn't happy with toby rudolph i'm guessing that might have been from some of the errors uh blake brady for life says i feel for katoa when we're under pressure in both prelims he's been our best player i agree i agree and you know maybe it was more of a statement from the coach about the performance against the roosters i don't know you'd have to get fitzy to talk about it
[01:15:26] officially to make that call about what the heck happened but i agree in those prelims he was our best player liam says the nrl are ruining the game i'm not watching 40 to 30 every week this is ridiculous it's not fun when it's your team if it's another team it's kind of fun but not great so i hear what you're saying i do hear what you're saying and i agree with a lot of the sentiment i
[01:15:54] do bucks also said the game is becoming embarrassing with the scores like this now joanne is in korea the game kept freezing so i couldn't get a real feel about what went wrong can you give us a quick summary of your thoughts joanne hopefully you've been watching this uh stream for an hour and a half but uh uh i thought that our defense was nowhere near good enough joanne is what the
[01:16:20] problem was the problem's not an attack even look at the completions and those sort of things they're not too bad but it's the missed tackles it's the line breaks i think they had 12 is that what i said 12 line breaks just opening up that line for them to score at crucial times the sharks kind of did enough to win now i think about it you know at least in attack and they're marching down the field a lot
[01:16:44] but yeah defensively no good thank you very much joanne take care over there have fun now this person is called ah piston broke w5z so another person saying roly pard needs a go with mcculloch changing the round why isn't puru on the bench gives us more speed so you're talking about puru as in hojepa although i know nephi is probably quicker i think you may know hepa uh so who's riley gonna replace
[01:17:11] and who tell me about you can't just throw out names tell me who's tell me the scenarios please and i appreciate it uh fitz is about to head to bed up early for anzac day service thorn service sending sam a cheers and thanks for all i do for the sharks community well thank you very much i appreciate it i'll take the rap but i do appreciate it fits and you don't need to say those things but
[01:17:36] i appreciate it i only showed that because you are off to remember everything that tomorrow is about so thank you very much and i appreciate your support okay blues four said roly pollard played in the same school boys team as galvin who's played two full years now stop playing safe the tough decisions need to be made including our marquee player so you're saying blues four i'm assuming bring him
[01:18:02] in for nico i didn't think nico was the problem tonight and even though trindle was quiet i didn't think he was the problem the problem was that defense defense was just not good and those two guys the halves weren't the problem so pollard can come in and do great i'm sure and i'm a fan you people know that i talk about him all the time now but i don't that's not the problem but i know i appreciate
[01:18:29] what you're saying saying he's probably ready as well i okay fair enough danny says to be fair no changes are not working either not sure who this is directed at if it's directed at me they're saying surely before katoa on the wing over haradi i would i didn't drop him i didn't make the call it wasn't in my world to drop him and he did have a disappointing game last week but
[01:18:54] john says what's your thoughts on signing owen trout and what will he bring to the shark so i like the fact that we're looking outside the bubble i think that you might see one or two more players come from that part of the world over the next few years i'm not suggesting there might be people we know but i just think that we have one now i think two or three more might come over the
[01:19:17] years and i don't hate it like we've seen some great english players come out here he's played at the highest level and we have a lot of guys have contract in the middle and also i believe he can play edge as well so i'm positive about it i want to see him more i've seen the highlights i've seen him play some super league and some test matches but we won't know until he sort of sinks his teeth
[01:19:46] into the game here but i think if they're already signed and sealed and delivered him over here for next year and he's moving his life over here i think i think there's something in it so i'm looking forward to it uh danny says our attack is fine defense has been shot out of a cannon the only thing that's changed from last year is no josh hanae so that's very interesting uh big brother says the tigers will destroy us with their offloads if we don't get some attitude and defense yeah yeah it's
[01:20:14] pretty scary man and we wouldn't have thought this day would ever come since 2005 when some of us walked out of ocean protect stadium early because they couldn't bear to see benji be any more brilliant but uh that's the other thing guys and girls i think it's four o'clock game on saturday is it and uh on sunday sorry sunday the 05 benji highlights are gonna be rolling and rolling and
[01:20:42] rolling the entire week so if you can't handle it keep that tv off piston says riley pollard will come with tired defense in the halves or a lot could rotate with nico to bring faster pace yeah i don't mind that i don't mind that but again we're not having a problem scoring points really week to week but i i don't mind that danny says i think we must resign mcinnis he's pretty good tonight for his return
[01:21:09] lander's ball is suited to smaller forwards yeah well i mean i'm open to that that's for sure that is for sure sharkies big loss tonight oh kieran has confirmed there's no friction he said we combine between oh he's saying we combine better than talakai and haradian defense so that's good to know just repeating kieran and i are good there's no friction
[01:21:37] we combine better than talakai and haradian defense and i have to tell him i haven't even watched the hulk hogan documentary yet but i will and he's going to say to me that's not going to work for me brother uh jay said who's going to win the epl this season we're talking epl now manchester city or arsenal uh from what i've looked at recently i think arsenal are on track
[01:22:04] but i don't support either of those two teams so i don't really mind and a bit of one percent rock and roll have i heard the avril lavigne cover of alanis morris sets ironic i haven't heard it i'll check it out thank you very much sharks lose this ain't fun but it's fun podcasting we are gonna get out of here it's getting pretty late appreciate everyone can someone give me a score update i can probably just look at the internet or whatever but someone give me a score update before
[01:22:28] we go on the brisbane dogs game please danny says mckinnis leadership is required for another year yeah no arguments here uh yeah i was also messaging someone before again not not talking in riddles someone i a friend will say and they were saying that the leadership out there looked a bit
[01:22:53] non-existent and i can't disagree with that so the more cam is involved in this club the better thanks john 26 to 6 the broncos uh future you gave me an update man city are first and epl following the wins against arsenal and burnley last week oh so there's i thought there were catch-up games and that kind of stuff anyway i i probably shouldn't be commenting on epl because i'm not as up to date
[01:23:19] as i once was but i still do love it and uh my team's not there so that's my team's not competing for the top of my team's about fifth or six i think some of you know who i go for it doesn't matter i'm whispering now i'm whispering sharks lose we go to ocean protect stadium in a week and a bit and the west tigers are coming to town and this is coming from shark cast this is not from the club we need you in the house if you can get down there i know we're all depressed about what happened and everything
[01:23:48] and we don't want to spend our hard-earned money etc etc but i'm telling you those west tigers fans are coming to town now obviously the sharks have more seats we own all the seats etc but let's just let's think about what timmy from the shark cage would do he would get everyone there with his drum and he would beat that drum and get everyone rocking and rolling we need to get back on track it does start next weekend to west tigers i'm going to be upbeat about that game because we've got to
[01:24:14] win it you know and there's i'm sure there's ways to win it like you can beat the west tigers but you can't let them play their game for starters so if you can get down there get down there it's going to be fun a whole bunch of us from the show will be down there i'm sure and it's going to be a great event like you don't get many games at ocean protect stadium d you get 10 so you might as well make the most of it if you can get down there end of spiel thanks john for the update broncos 26 to
[01:24:40] 10 over to 12 over the dogs we tend to go that's interesting for the latter as well isn't it thanks everyone for tuning in really appreciate it no matter how these shows are going to go but i as i always say i'm open to talking about anything as long as it's above board and not too many swearies and you guys and girls have been great with that so i really appreciate it thank you so much this will be an audio pod later on for all you sickos that like to listen as well and i appreciate
