[00:01:44] Hey there, welcome to SharkCast, a podcast dedicated to the greatest sporting club in the history of the world, the mighty Cronulla Sutherland Sharks. My name is Sam Shinazzi, the OG 2015-12 seasons of podcasting for all of you lovely people. And welcome aboard to TeamList Tuesday, where we just have a bit of a chat about the Sharks. Get your opinions on what's going on, latest news and views.

[00:02:07] Kind of streamline episode, and of course it'll culminate in the NRL and NRL dub teams being announced in about 5 or 10 minutes. And we'll turn this into an audio podcast later on. [00:02:28] I know that a lot of our older listeners and viewers are shaking in their boots, but what they've potentially forgotten is that under Craig Fitzgibbon we've won 7 of 8 at Baruch Vale. No, 7 of 8 against Manly, including 4 in a row at Baruch Vale. So, I'm happy with that. I'm ready to go. And we have the NRLW on Saturday at 12.40 p.m. in Canberra, playing the Raiders, who are in 5th place.

[00:02:56] We need to get a move on there with our wins, but that win is just around the corner and it's hopefully in Canberra at 12.40 on Saturday. So, we'll go through those teams as soon as they drop, which will be within a few minutes. If you have anything you want to say or discuss, please drop me a line and we can discuss it. [00:03:25] They're not in good form, but it's Fosball and they can turn that around. And missing Travojevic, missing Luke Brooks, but some handy halves in there with Fogarty, I would imagine, being picked. And young Walsh as well, Joey Walsh. So, certainly be a challenge for the Sharks to keep rolling on in. Currently in 4th place. Got our eye on that top 4. And the only way to stay there is to keep winning.

[00:03:54] Jay is saying NRLW must win. I'll lose and that's probably their season, unfortunately. I don't disagree with you, sir, but the only thing I'd say about that is there are a bunch of teams who, in my opinion, are not as good as us, despite the form we're showing. And I think that you can make it up as the weeks go on. But I do agree with you, in theory, that we'd need to win this one. So, I think that's what they'll do down in Canberra.

[00:04:22] We've seen some good wins against Canberra, so hopefully we can keep that going. And I want to give a shout-out to our mate, all things Cronulla Sharks. All underscore things, underscore Cronulla, underscore sharks. Give him a follow on Instagram and you won't regret it. Lots of shark stuff there. Troy says, hopefully Siffra is back this week. The final team will should be interesting with all of our depth. Nearly ready to come back.

And I have to say, I know they've come up with a lot of criticism, the NRLW team, but last week they were, upon watching the game back, closer than we all think. But let's get behind them and hopefully this week they can improve again and get the first win for the year and keep on rolling. Some of the comments here, which I love.

So, Manly are missing some stars. They've got Hoppawadi at fullback. It goes all right, obviously. They are very quick wingers in Saab and Kula. Josh Folletti, who's, I think he's young, but he's sort of second tier kind of center. Solid.

[00:15:42] Got the mad haircut. But Ruben Garrick, we know all about him. That's their back line with Joey Walsh and with Jamal Fogarty. Watch out for the 40-20s from both of those. Watch out for the 40-20s. Paseca, we know his work. Jake Simpkin. Ben, Simeone, Lafay, big, tall, Hamali, Olucawatu, Ben Travojevic, Jake Travojevic. So, some good players there. Their bench gets a little bit more standard. And I like our bench against their bench.

[00:16:11] So, that's what's going on there. Clevo says, like Kieran, I'm a bit so-so on Ted Lasso. But getting through season two to be ready for season four and saying that on Sunday, Arvo, I believe. I was late to Ted Lasso, not as late as you guys, Clevo and Kieran. I was late maybe six months. And everyone was saying, Shinaj, you've got to watch this show. You're a TV guy. You're a sports guy. It all makes sense. I love Ted Lasso.

[00:16:37] I thought it was beautiful and cute and moving and funny as well. And I think I'm down for the new season coming. I mean, there's a bit of a gap and a bit of a different storyline. But I don't know how he couldn't like it. But Clevo says, mainly because I also have no heart and would get done on a good Samaritan law. You've got a heart, Clevo. It's beaten beautifully. And I don't believe that for a second. Kieran has one too. Underneath all the darkness and the intrigue and the conspiracies, Kieran's got one too.

[00:17:07] So, I'm looking forward to Ted Lasso's new season. I'm glad you're getting into it. If you haven't watched it and you like sports, give it a go. Give it a go. Troy said, do you think this is our best starting 13 going forward for the rest of the season? Troy, you've always got the controversial takes, all of it. Look, it's got to be close, right? We have spoken a bit about who is the second prop next to Fenua Blake. Tall Tom's certainly earned his spot. He's going really good. I think he's injury free as well, which helps.

[00:17:36] And the other one which people have kind of tinkered with in their fantasy booking is Britain to the bench and Billy to start. But I've been thinking long and hard about it. He's come out under some bit of criticism, Britain for his hands and a few other things. He makes a lot of tackles. He doesn't miss too many. He runs the lines. When he's on, he does get some meters. I'm going to watch Brit with a clean slate this week and just see how he goes.

[00:18:06] Because I think personally, maybe I've been undervaluing him. However, to answer your question, Troy, you could bring in Billy Burns because Billy Burns is awesome. So depends what you want out of the player. Two different players. Of course. Of course. Two different players. Two very good players. Jay says, can you get Dan back on one of the weekly podcast results with the women's team but also wrap the last few weeks with the Jets and the Jersey Fleet Boys? Jeez, Jay.

[00:18:34] You're booking my podcast. I need someone to book it. We always get folks back as soon as they're available and that kind of thing. So let's work on that. With the women's team, we know they're not going too well. 0-3, they're under the same scrutiny on the field that the men are. There's no special favors on this show but it's a different comp and different circumstances

[00:19:05] and I want to see how they go against Canberra. And I really still, as Ted Lasso would say, believe in this team. I saw enough last week. If you take away some silly errors, I saw enough in there that has a bit of fight and a lot of talent. I'm really up on JC Carter as a prop. She's on the bench this week. She was on the bench last week. She was ripping and towering. She needs more time but they've got a good team still. They've just got to click. So let's see how they go this week against Canberra.

[00:19:34] Jacqueline says, we can and will beat this filthy Manly team. Holds a grudge, Jacqueline. I like it. Holds a grudge. We've been talking about the grudge against Manly. For our younger viewers and listeners, go Google Grand Finals and Greg Hartley and that kind of thing. Bob Fulton maybe. Oh, getting in trouble today. How good's that? I think we can beat this team for sure. I look at what they got. They got some pretty speedy wingers.

[00:20:02] So we want to try and hold that to a minimum of them making line breaks and that kind of thing. But I think overall, particularly that bench, I really like what we're doing. And Ali says, thank God Tom T is out. Yeah, definitely. Like when he's fit, he's unbelievable. It's a sad, sad situation. And speaking of the olden days, I can tell you that we actually have our worst win record against Manly in general.

[00:20:31] Against everyone in the history of Cronel Sharks, it's Manly. It's not a pretty stats review. However, under Craig Fitzgibbon, who I believe in, we've won four in a row against them. And we've won seven of eight against Manly. Fitz, he's lost once to Manly. Now what I want to do is throw that into Brookvale Oval. Brookvale Oval, we've won nine of 44 games. So put that in your beautiful heads. Nine times we've won at Brookvale.

[00:21:01] We've gone 44 times. We've won nine. Nine. With Craig Fitzgibbon, four of those nine wins are under his watch. So that's how good his record is against Manly and at Manly. So for people like Clinton Maynard now, I'm not putting him necessarily in our older brigade, but the long-time old-school people removed the fear. Greg Hartley's not refereeing this week, for starters.

[00:21:25] They did play Manly in round 13 this year at Ocean Protect Stadium. We won 28-22. From memory, it got a little bit closer than what it probably should have been. So take that as you will. Manly be desperate to win. There's no doubt about it. I think, what have they got? They've won like, what have they won? Two of the past seven this year.

[00:21:51] So after a great run under Fozball, they've had a pretty poor kind of couple of months. So probably just turn around. It's going to be a tough game. It's never easy there, except under Fitzy, where it has been. But even then, it hasn't been easy until full-time. So I am looking forward to this game very much. Jay does double down and say, I wish we could beat Manly in a finals game. It's still not a pretty record. And a bad hoodoo, which would be good to nail in the future. Oh, look.

[00:22:22] I would like to do that too. Yes, that's what I would say. I'd like to do that too. Premier's incoming 67. Very, very confident these days. Manly will get smoked. Sharks by 20 plus. Troy says, great depth this week. Really impressed with Oregon Kifusi. Welcome back, Jesse Colquhoun. He's been having a cracking season so far. Typo there. That's no worries. Oregon Kifusi's definitely made a great impact.

[00:22:52] And a lot of people within the club believe in him. Some fans, including myself, really believe in him. Some haven't seen it. I completely respect that. But he's got a great body. He's fit. He's got a motor. He's got experience. Played in the grand final, for goodness sake. He's not that old. I think he might be 25-ish, 26-ish tops. And he's played a bunch of games. And he's very consistent in what he does.

[00:23:21] But he's really found himself. And that's pretty exciting. Dion says, with a weather report, looks like a dry track for us this weekend, which should suit our style. Nickerat running some hard lines might run into some good form. Absolutely. I think that I'm going to watch Nickerat with a clean slate because I've been listening to a lot of people around me and reading things.

[00:23:49] And I've kind of been, in my head, disagreeing but also nodding along in that kind of, you could be right but you could be wrong kind of thing. So I just want to, because I know he does so much off the ball. I know that's a bit of a cliche for some people. But he actually does a lot off the ball. So who's trying to call me at 4.16pm when I'm doing a live stream on the SharkCast, as Luke Lewis calls us? Looks like the spam. Our friend Lewis has been in touch. Lewis is a great human.

[00:24:18] We need more great humans in the world. Much like all of our SharkCast listeners have been great humans. Off topic, kind of. Great inclusion of the 2016 podcast, the end of the premiership season. Recap this week, a blast from the past. More of that. Well, that's one tick of approval. Now, I am going to say I'm happy to hear the positive things about what we're going to talk about in just a second. I don't want to hear the negative stuff. So if anyone's got anything negative to say about what I'm about to tell you, I don't want to hear about it.

[00:24:48] I don't want to read about it. Don't tag me and stuff. Please. But basically, if you haven't caught up and it's only been out today and I haven't promoted it much, but Lewis is talking about the 2016 recap season matches that we do with Ben Harlem. Ben Harlem and I, we do a game each episode from 2016 in order. Starting at one, I'm going to finish the grand final. And we just released round eight against Penrith.

[00:25:17] We've got a bit of catching up too. We'll get there. But what we did at the request of a few people and also the request of my brain, we put the corresponding episode in real life from 2016 on there. So you got Ben and I talking in present time about the game. We did a rewatch. And then after 40 minutes or so, and I introduced it in a long way, like I'm introducing this in a long way,

[00:25:42] I threw on the actual episode we recorded and produced in 2016 with my old buddy, Adam Newman and I, that's about a half an hour kind of, for want of a better word, flagship in half an hour from 2016. Audio is not amazing. It's livable. It was circumstantial that episode. I'm sure the audio gets better moving forward. And we say things like Ricky Letelli can't tackle. And we say things like Becky can't catch balls and things like that. So we look silly. It sounds silly.

[00:26:12] It's amazing fun to listen to. You may have zero interest in it. You may have every interest in it. Believe it or not. Thanks so much, Lewis, for your thoughts. Brendan says, oh, hang on. Marky Mark's there. Wonder if they'll swap goal kickers for Garrick. Fogarty's been ordinary of late. Good for us if they don't. Yeah, I'm not sure. Haven't thought about that one. They're both good kickers and players in their day.

[00:26:39] So you'd think Garrick's probably more reliable, but maybe there's a reason why they're going for the other fella. I'm just worried about his 40-20s, Fogarty, and also Jay Walsh. Nico just needs to keep kicking like he's kicking, and we're sweet in that department. Brendan says, T. Wilton is the quiet achiever in our team. He goes about his business with minimum of fuss and does it so well. Can't wait for his matchup against Olokowatu. You see everything, Brendan. Brendan, I agree with that entire statement wholeheartedly,

[00:27:08] and Teague has been a rock since he debuted, and consistently getting better. And when I say consistently, I mean slowly and surely. And he is all business. And I've said that a few times on the show, that when I go interview the players, and you get T. Wilton, like really nice guy, like lovely guy, polite, all the time in the world for you, but he's business. He's real business,

[00:27:37] and I love it. It's the way he carries himself, and he's a future captain, and potentially future rep player, and all that kind of thing. So I completely agree with you, Brendan. I'm looking forward to that battle. I think he's up for it, and I think both sides of that second row are going to have a handy time, because Teague's running so well at the moment. It really is. CJ says, Win this week and lock up a top four spot. Important game to set up our last six weeks.

[00:28:05] Is that mathematically confirmed, or is this what you think? Because that would be amazing if that was the case, CJ. Hope you're right there. But yeah, just got to keep winning, man. If we keep winning, then we could go as high as number one. And you would think, we're not going to drop from four, and you would think you'd probably rise from four to somewhere else if you keep winning, because some of the other teams won't. So I don't mind the run in, it's not the dream draw we've had in the past, you know,

[00:28:35] few years. When I say few years, I'm not talking about last year. I can't really remember the years, but there was a couple of years there where it was not the worst run in. As far as playing teams you're better than, this time it's a little bit different. You've got Melbourne last round. You've got South's Manly, like it's not the easiest run in, but it's certainly every game is winnable. You know, Gold Coast to Gold Coast isn't a cinch these days, but you should be able to get the job done if you're going to be top four and contending for the title. So hopefully, my friend, we can get there.
