[00:00:00] Champons, SharkCast!

[00:00:30] Hey there, welcome to SharkCast, podcast dedicated to the greatest sporting club in the history

[00:00:36] of the world.

[00:00:37] The Mighty Cornelos Sub-Alan Sharks is shown brought to you by Dustin logistics, the Royal

[00:00:41] Motor Yacht Club in Porthacking and Jason Hors at Crips and Crips Real Estate.

[00:00:45] My name is Sam, she now has you know G from 2015 out 10th year of podcasting about the

[00:00:52] greatest club in the history of the world.

[00:00:54] Big season ahead for both the sharks and for this podcast, bunch of things I want to

[00:00:59] do probably won't tell you until they happen.

[00:01:02] We'll see how we go on that.

[00:01:04] But thank you for joining us on the social medias at SharkCast pod, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,

[00:01:12] threatening a tick tock it's there if you want to join nothing is happening at the moment.

[00:01:16] I might be too old to go on tick tock but we'll see because you never say never especially

[00:01:20] in this world where you want to boost your podcast into the stratosphere but enough

[00:01:24] about me let's talk about him, he is a regular guest host.

[00:01:29] He shares his birthday with tall Tom Haceton and John Docking, he is an amazing touch footballer,

[00:01:37] he's great in the dance floor more importantly, he's my good friend and yours Mr. Joshua

[00:01:42] bowling.

[00:01:43] Best intro so far thank you Sam, good to see ya, can't wait for this season we're getting

[00:01:46] close now starting to talk team lists um...

[00:01:49] Well we're kinda here, yeah well couple weeks isn't it?

[00:01:51] Three weeks?

[00:01:52] I'm thinking a few days, we're playing on Saturday.

[00:01:55] We are gonna talk about that game right now Josh and then for those people ticking

[00:02:01] their boxes we're going to get through a bit of news and we're also going to do a depth

[00:02:04] chart episode where we get into who's gonna play where and when and in what order but

[00:02:10] until we get to that point Josh this Saturday 145pm on the Sennie Coast we are playing

[00:02:18] the Newcastle Knights in a trial match, trial number one.

[00:02:23] The team is here, it's a good team, it's an interesting team for us more importantly

[00:02:28] it's a topical team let's get into it at full back, Cade Dikes making his return after

[00:02:36] a very serious knee injury.

[00:02:38] The fisherman Cionic Atoa has been named on the wing, fan favourite Kale Ero plays in

[00:02:44] the number three with the other fan favourite Marwini Harottie in the centres, Sam Stone Street,

[00:02:51] the rising Colossus, he's on the wing as well.

[00:02:55] Some handy halves in Danakson at 5-8th, Nioh Perru is at half, now our forward pack,

[00:03:02] you'll know some of these fellas, tall Tom Hazleton, Jaden Barrel hooks the scram and Oregon

[00:03:07] Gafusi will be playing and I note he's got a pretty good head of hair there Josh.

[00:03:12] Jesse Colhun is in the second row with Teague Wilton and your man, Cam McInnis, he's

[00:03:21] locking the scram as captain.

[00:03:23] We'll see what happens in the future for the magnificent Cameron McInnis but that back

[00:03:27] row, go through it again, Colhun, Wilton McInnis.

[00:03:31] The immediate bench which in these games Josh, it means something but also anyone on

[00:03:39] these team lists can play, they'll probably add a few as well but immediately making

[00:03:43] his debut for the club at Billy Burns, Jack Williams, Chuku Hai Tapua and Lachlan Khratch.

[00:03:51] That's your immediate bench and then we have Christopher Vallele, Sam Healy, Salizia Towa,

[00:04:00] Blake Hosking, a gentleman named Sifta Tallikai, young Liam Esen from the Panthers will

[00:04:08] be out there, Max Bradbury, friend of the show and Tommy Rodwell that's your team at

[00:04:13] the moment.

[00:04:14] They might add a few players to play and the night's team is pretty handy, we won't go

[00:04:20] through it right now, play for player but they put the likes of Greg Marzou, Tyson Campbell,

[00:04:25] Jackson Hayes, things of Eddie Brothers, things of Crossland, it's a decent team no doubt

[00:04:29] so that doesn't really matter, we don't care about the result, we care about performance

[00:04:33] and we definitely care about no injuries.

[00:04:35] What are your thoughts there Josh?

[00:04:37] It's an interesting team like you said, there could be a case that a lot of those guys

[00:04:43] will play first grade this year or at some point we'll get a game or two so looking forward

[00:04:47] to a couple of guys in particular obviously K-Dikes after a year off with that injury.

[00:04:52] I'm sure he's excited and as nervous to just get out there and play some real footie

[00:04:57] again, obviously Kale Ero, Samuel Sone Street, I'm looking forward to seeing him, Ackinson

[00:05:04] which I think we'll get to later in our depth chart of playing in the six, you could play

[00:05:08] in multiple positions so I'm really looking forward to seeing how he goes there and see

[00:05:12] what his kicking game is like, I haven't seen too much of that.

[00:05:14] Obviously the back row could almost play first grade with Cole Hoon, Teague and Cam McKinnis

[00:05:20] so it's a really strong side, you'd expect probably to win not that it matters but just hoping

[00:05:25] for a good performance from everyone and no injuries.

[00:05:29] Yeah so the first time it caught my eye Josh was Cierny Katoa, I was surprised that he

[00:05:34] was named and speaking of named I can name a drop that I won't name a name but I was talking

[00:05:43] to someone on the coaching staff this afternoon who is not the main coach and I asked about

[00:05:48] Katoa and it's mainly for fitness and for cohesion and getting Cierny in the right,

[00:05:57] not frame of mind but right mentality to be ready for round one.

[00:06:03] So at this point as far as I'm aware his position is not in doubt, he's not playing because

[00:06:08] he's not safe from Ronaldo is what I was more or less told was it was basically to get

[00:06:13] Cierny going a bit earlier than the other guys, getting him on the track and running and

[00:06:18] again we don't know how long some of these guys will play for so that's why Katoa has been

[00:06:22] named.

[00:06:23] He's been training in the centers, we know he can play five eighths, we've seen him play

[00:06:29] first grade fullback.

[00:06:31] Any reason that you think he's been named there is it more just to get him out there after

[00:06:35] that horrific injury doesn't matter where he is?

[00:06:38] Yeah I think so I mean if he'd played one three four or six I don't think it would have

[00:06:42] mattered too much.

[00:06:43] It could be as simple as maybe getting some more into his legs playing a fullback, he's

[00:06:47] going obviously just some more running there so it could be something like that.

[00:06:51] It's interesting because you think if he's probably closer to playing six then he is

[00:06:54] fullback.

[00:06:55] So if you thought if that was his in or if it was center, you think that have played in

[00:06:59] there so it's interesting that they've put him at the back.

[00:07:02] Do you think there's a chance we will see some high jinks with the positions after

[00:07:07] certain time Dikes might go to center and her body to fullback or he might go to six

[00:07:14] brackets and who got a fullback?

[00:07:16] Yeah I mean it could be as simple as that because all those guys can play multiple positions

[00:07:20] so they might be like have 20 minutes here or have a half there and then just trial

[00:07:24] things.

[00:07:25] This is literally what they're for just to mess with things around and know how I'm

[00:07:29] trying it now and then Dikes might play six for the next two games you don't know.

[00:07:32] So Caliero has been named starting center and he'll get first shot so to speak in this

[00:07:40] instance and impressing everyone.

[00:07:43] I think Josh Caliero needs to have stand out games, both games to really push for that

[00:07:52] center position.

[00:07:53] I think at the moment Talika is ahead of him.

[00:07:56] Talika has been named right at the end of that team again we don't know what that means

[00:08:00] he might come on for half a game he might play five minutes he might not play at all

[00:08:04] we're not sure about that.

[00:08:05] I think eros a chance for around one but he really has to be lights out and that creates

[00:08:12] a different kind of thing where if he's trying too hard anything could happen.

[00:08:17] Now I'm not suggesting our players shouldn't try the best they should they should absolutely

[00:08:21] go for it in a sense of impressing everybody but be smart about it and good things will

[00:08:27] come their way.

[00:08:28] I have him just behind Talika at the moment for around one but it'll be great to see him

[00:08:33] get first shot in this trial game.

[00:08:36] I want to see what he's got at a first grade level this isn't quite first grade obviously

[00:08:40] but this is he's playing a good side.

[00:08:42] Well to start yeah.

[00:08:43] To start and if he impresses here maybe he earns another trial starting and then all

[00:08:48] of a sudden if he puts two three games together before the start of season you never know

[00:08:52] I don't think any like I think only a couple of positions are safe in our side and center

[00:08:58] is not one of them so there's a center spot up for grabs and it can only be good that

[00:09:03] we have two guys three guys fighting out for it as opposed to some seasons where people

[00:09:08] have been guaranteed spots.

[00:09:09] Yeah yeah so we'll see how Kayle goes.

[00:09:13] Harottie's he's always hanging about which is awesome we know that he's very consistent

[00:09:19] at his own level and in his last performance he was literally man on the match so happy

[00:09:26] to see him there see what he can do all eyes are going to be on Sam Stone Street very cool

[00:09:31] name not referring to the first name but just that name in general Sam Stone Street.

[00:09:35] It's a rugby league name.

[00:09:37] I think it's like a Hollywood name or something.

[00:09:39] Starring Sam Stone Street.

[00:09:41] Stone Street.

[00:09:42] Depends how you say it.

[00:09:43] Anyway we're not here to mock names we love Sam Stone Street we love his name and he's

[00:09:45] someone who I think if there's an injury on the wing to one about two guys I think he'll

[00:09:51] be straight in.

[00:09:52] Yeah he's first his first call off the rank so yeah he'll want to he'll still want to impress

[00:09:55] though.

[00:09:56] I don't I don't think the coaching staff will and I say this not knowing anything about

[00:10:00] this is my own opinion.

[00:10:02] I don't think they'll think around and go I'll call you I could play on the wing or even

[00:10:06] more any heroddy I think that if stone street has two strong games not even like 10 to

[00:10:11] 10 but if he's like eight out of 10 in both games I think he's next next cap.

[00:10:15] I think so and you know he's got a lot of potential we all know how good he he is

[00:10:19] and probably will be but he's still not getting ahead of Ciony and Ronaldo for mine

[00:10:25] the still class first graders and he's got to earn it he's got to wait.

[00:10:29] He's young yeah he's young time Dan Accadson we spoke about he can play a whole bunch

[00:10:34] of positions which is awesome and I think he'll be one of the guys and we'll get into it

[00:10:39] later on who can be our utility should we need a utility.

[00:10:44] I think you might see him float around a little bit if we cast down one back to was the

[00:10:50] Bulldogs game trial match last year or the year before.

[00:10:53] Yeah he was he killed it killed it man of the match so best play on the field so I expect

[00:11:00] him to really tear it up I mean he was 18th man last year so many times and got like

[00:11:05] a minute here a minute there where he couldn't do much at all.

[00:11:09] I think he'll just be itching to get out there and really show everyone what he can do.

[00:11:13] We've got a lot of guys like that this year as opposed to last year that are going to

[00:11:16] be hovering like Kaleiro, Sam Stone Street the Dan Accadson's of the world they're going

[00:11:21] to be 18th 19th man every other week probably and they're not far away from a game an injury

[00:11:28] or a suspension they probably those guys sitting in a play the kind of Tracy roles that

[00:11:32] we saw last year so the interesting I can't wait to see some of these guys get really

[00:11:36] good minutes.

[00:11:37] I kind of just realized we've started the dip chart before but there are a number of

[00:11:43] guys like Neway Perrou will get into as well but guys that can really stamp some sort

[00:11:47] of authority to be next in line when they're not necessarily the case at the moment it's

[00:11:52] fascinating to see guys like I mean I'm not surprised tall Tom is there but in my

[00:11:58] mind he's almost like a starter every week so it's like why are you playing week one

[00:12:02] but it makes a lot of sense and I'd say if someone is going to need a big year we'll

[00:12:07] get into an adept chart and that's Oregon Kafousi.

[00:12:10] So he's also got chance in his first game to really put his foot down but that's your

[00:12:16] team for this week the game is on the Fox teller it's on the KO it might be on the radio

[00:12:21] or something I'm not sure where else it'll be it's 145 if you can get there go support

[00:12:27] the team if you can't do what you have to do to watch the game and we'll be piting

[00:12:32] on it of course as soon as we can afterwards.

[00:12:36] Josh it was a big day for the Sharks club because they signed a new sponsorship deal with

[00:12:43] Quest the apartment in adverticomers hotel chain well there you go they're called Quest

[00:12:51] apartment hotels they got it right.

[00:12:55] New sponsorship for them which is quite major for the Sharks and they rolled out all the

[00:12:59] big guns from Dino through to both NRL and NRLW players, Major Partner of the Women's

[00:13:06] Front of Jersey Major Partner back of the shorts for the NRL Mail team they're at the official

[00:13:14] community partner and official membership partner so really coming to the party which

[00:13:19] is awesome the more money we have the better and well done to all involved getting that

[00:13:25] across the line there were some local junior games on the weekend Josh the Harold Matt's

[00:13:33] Lost the SG ball lost.

[00:13:35] Tasha Gowon undefeated and the under 17 competition Lisa Fiorla Cup they went down 12 4 I believe

[00:13:45] from memory but it's already happening they're already in the week 3 so conditions out there

[00:13:50] are pretty brutal oh yeah I feel for the men and women going through all that but good

[00:13:56] to see that at least we're competitive if not winning some of those games as a bunch of

[00:14:01] players playing in the All Star game which is more than a trauma to these days obviously

[00:14:07] that'll be big minutes and very competitive games as we know I mean I shut up watching

[00:14:14] those ones but from the men's we have Nico and Braden Trindall and we also have Britain

[00:14:21] Nickgurra and Royce Hunt and for the women's match we have Quincy Dodd and Nessa Biddle

[00:14:28] and Brooke Anderson so that's great stuff you know Godspeed injury free but we've seen

[00:14:34] Nico come out and talk about how important it is about his culture and spreading the

[00:14:39] word and being a role model so.

[00:14:41] And he had a great game last year too.

[00:14:43] He did.

[00:14:44] You can only imagine how proud these guys and girls are I mean Trindall wears it on his

[00:14:48] sleeve they're all proud of their heritage and it's awesome I know that the clubs drop

[00:14:53] behind supporting them some clubs aren't and we've discussed this and I declared that

[00:14:59] if and when I am owner of the club no one's playing anywhere we'll support every culture

[00:15:06] and heritage in the world you are not playing.

[00:15:10] We're barely going to train yeah it's going to play game day and win good luck to those

[00:15:15] guys and girls though Josh let's take a quick break come back and get into the depth

[00:15:19] chart of the mighty criminal several in sharks back really really soon do not go anywhere.

[00:17:38] Jason Hors, Cripson Crips Real Estate.

[00:17:42] Welcome back to Sharkcast.

[00:17:43] POD this is the annual depth chart.

[00:17:48] Want to give a shout out to our colleague TK, the busiest man in sport.

[00:17:53] This was his idea this episode years ago.

[00:17:56] He's a smart man and he's too smart for us.

[00:18:00] And we send him all of our love.

[00:18:02] He'll be on the show when he can throughout the year but I didn't even ask him to be

[00:18:06] on the show because I didn't want to give him stress because he is so booked at the

[00:18:11] moment.

[00:18:12] So he knows he's always welcome here.

[00:18:15] Josh, we have the fullback position to cover.

[00:18:19] Now obviously the great man, the sharkcast player of the year last year will Kennedy will

[00:18:25] be our starting fullback.

[00:18:27] Last year he only played 19 games which was a bummer because when he was missing we needed

[00:18:32] him desperately.

[00:18:34] He has gotten better year after year, we were worried about his defense, his defense improved

[00:18:38] last year.

[00:18:39] He set up 14 tries in 19 games, he had 15 line break assists.

[00:18:45] He's a fullback rising, rising, rising.

[00:18:48] He's not at the elite level but there's nothing to say that he can't get there.

[00:18:54] Given what we've seen, the improvement we've seen year after year.

[00:18:57] I can't say to Desco who can I say who's the best fullback in the game?

[00:19:01] Dylan Edwards.

[00:19:02] Dylan Edwards of course, if Dylan Edwards is a 10 then our boy Will is an 8 and rising.

[00:19:09] Now to get to a 10 you've got to be pretty good but I have not ruling out that he'll

[00:19:16] get there in the next few years might not be this year but I think that he'll just keep

[00:19:20] improving.

[00:19:21] He's a confidence player.

[00:19:23] I feel like he's confidence last time we saw him before he got injured was sky high.

[00:19:27] But don't think he's the sort of guy now where if he drops a ball or lets you try, I don't

[00:19:33] think it affects his game whereas it used to and that's a huge deal.

[00:19:38] His defense is improved.

[00:19:40] We saw what we missed when he wasn't playing and we know what he means to the club.

[00:19:44] He was our best player according to our points by 60 or 70 points.

[00:19:49] Nico was nowhere near him and Nico was second I think.

[00:19:54] Will Kennedy is your fullback for the year.

[00:19:56] Having said that, should he need a week off?

[00:19:58] We have some players that can help him.

[00:20:00] Well there's a depth chance we can do it or what.

[00:20:02] I think that K-Dikes is the next man up.

[00:20:05] He played there twice at the NRL level, year before last did pretty good.

[00:20:12] To his older and he's a confident kid can play in a bunch of positions which we're here

[00:20:18] to talk about.

[00:20:19] But I sort of get the vibe he's next man up to you.

[00:20:22] I know you've got your own depth chart there is he there?

[00:20:25] Yeah he's number two.

[00:20:26] Dan Atkinson we've seen play there at lower levels, trial matches, new town, other clubs.

[00:20:34] I think Dan is probably third choice at the moment.

[00:20:38] He's at least hovering around there.

[00:20:40] He was under serious consideration to play the final game against the Rousse's last year.

[00:20:46] It was sort of between him and Conor Tracy that would be in the tossing up.

[00:20:50] So I think Dan Atkinson can do a job there as well.

[00:20:53] And then we have other blessings like Kayleigh Row.

[00:20:56] We have Maweeney Heroddy there as well.

[00:20:58] I don't think we're going to ever put Nico back there, right?

[00:21:00] No I don't think so.

[00:21:01] Yeah I think that's done.

[00:21:02] I think they'd put Renaldo or Cione back there before Nico now.

[00:21:05] Yeah and we don't want to see that either.

[00:21:07] And we love those guys.

[00:21:08] I don't think they're fullbacks.

[00:21:09] They're not.

[00:21:10] Looking at that depth chart, I'm not unhappy with that because if we're assuming that

[00:21:15] you're fullbacks out, you hope to go out it's a week or two tops, right?

[00:21:19] So we're not assuming touchwood is going to be out any longer than that if he's ever out.

[00:21:23] I know he's got two years of history being that but it's a new year.

[00:21:26] We're not going to say that.

[00:21:27] I think for a week or two a number of those guys could do a job.

[00:21:31] So I think they're pretty good there.

[00:21:33] I think we're pretty strong in fullback.

[00:21:34] I mean a lot of those guys the best thing about them is they could do multiple roles.

[00:21:39] And I think look if you lose your start, spine player anywhere you're going to be struggling

[00:21:44] right for any team.

[00:21:45] So at the end of the day, you kind of do what you can.

[00:21:47] Dikes can do a job.

[00:21:48] Ackinson and Ero could do a job.

[00:21:50] They've all played there before.

[00:21:51] It's not like we're throwing in someone has never done it.

[00:21:53] So I'm pretty confident we can cover roles if Kennedy ever goes down but he'll be starting

[00:21:57] fullback.

[00:21:58] So you and I have starting wingers as Katowah and Moulotala.

[00:22:03] I think that's pretty safe to lock in to be perfectly blunt.

[00:22:07] As we said before, Sam Stone Street is hanging around.

[00:22:12] He's in the top 30 this year.

[00:22:14] And I believe he's next cab off the rank.

[00:22:16] And I think he can do a really good job.

[00:22:18] I think that he's a confident kid.

[00:22:20] He's experienced now at the lower level.

[00:22:22] He's done a bunch of things at an elite level in that lower level so he's that sound.

[00:22:28] But as a young fellow, he's dominated himself as cup.

[00:22:31] We've seen Cal Ero play on the wing.

[00:22:34] I don't know if I want to necessarily go there unless people fall down and he's there.

[00:22:39] I'm sure he could do a job but I'm not a huge fan.

[00:22:42] I never have been Josh of those.

[00:22:44] I don't know if Flannie used to do it where you bring in the center, the young center

[00:22:48] of the superstar center and you play him on the wing.

[00:22:51] I think it's two eminels for starters.

[00:22:53] Not a winger.

[00:22:54] Cal Ero could do it but yeah, I don't really want to see him do it.

[00:22:59] We have Satini Takama.

[00:23:00] I believe that's a pronounce.

[00:23:02] It's something close like that with the apologies to Satini and he played for Greece.

[00:23:08] He played for Greece.

[00:23:09] The World Cup squad, they're first ever World Cup try and he's young.

[00:23:15] I don't know if he would get in there ahead of you Cal Ero's but he's done it at the

[00:23:21] World Cup level.

[00:23:22] He's scored a try against France.

[00:23:24] You could maybe have a look at the new wonder kid Michael Gabriel although he is an out

[00:23:30] and out center but if you want to go the Flannie away and chuck him in over you want to,

[00:23:34] I think we're pretty okay there.

[00:23:36] I mean, you could also look at her body, of course as well.

[00:23:38] For my wings I have Ronaldo, Catala then Stone Street, Ackinson, Herodie, Ero as my

[00:23:44] options.

[00:23:45] Yeah, that's pretty good.

[00:23:46] And then if you need a couple of young guys there, they're there at the end of that

[00:23:50] list so I'm not too unhappy with that.

[00:23:53] We moved to center.

[00:23:55] They often talked about center position.

[00:23:57] You can lock in Jesse Ramiin.

[00:24:00] Lock him in and rightfully so.

[00:24:01] He said he's been pretty good.

[00:24:04] At the moment you and I have Ciford Talakai there.

[00:24:06] You'll see what happens in around one of the trial matches.

[00:24:10] You would have to think Catala Ero is next in line providing he keeps his form up.

[00:24:15] K-Dikes has been training there a little bit and I wouldn't put it past the sharks to

[00:24:22] give him a shot there if needed.

[00:24:25] I would imagine at the moment because he had some injuries over summer, some clean out

[00:24:31] of the knee etc.

[00:24:32] I would imagine that Catala Ero is still ahead of K-Dikes to the center position.

[00:24:36] We have the young bloke in the top 30 this year.

[00:24:38] Michael Gaboral, he's pretty green.

[00:24:41] He's only 18 right or just turned 19 quite young.

[00:24:43] Yeah.

[00:24:44] So he's on my list but he's at the bottom.

[00:24:46] Sure.

[00:24:47] Respectfully.

[00:24:48] Absolutely.

[00:24:49] I think if they all fall down and he might get a shot, I think in three years time if

[00:24:53] potential goes the way it should, he could be the guy that's getting picked first in

[00:24:58] that position.

[00:24:59] We'll see how we go.

[00:25:00] He's got the world at his feet.

[00:25:02] It could be someone that you might find if we're safe or if we're out at round 24-25

[00:25:06] here, they might chuck him a game.

[00:25:08] I don't like Ronaldo in the centers.

[00:25:10] People throw it around.

[00:25:11] He started the game last year of the year before he started at center for round one and

[00:25:15] it didn't go...

[00:25:16] Didn't go awfully?

[00:25:17] Was he named or he went away?

[00:25:18] I think he named and played.

[00:25:20] Or maybe wasn't named but he ended up playing there.

[00:25:23] I definitely played.

[00:25:24] What's that we'll look?

[00:25:25] It was round one.

[00:25:26] It might have been two years ago.

[00:25:28] Was it fitter?

[00:25:29] It wasn't.

[00:25:30] Everyone fits his first game.

[00:25:31] He might have played center.

[00:25:33] I'll just go while you're looking at that.

[00:25:35] For my centers, I have Jesse and Stiff obviously is one in two choices.

[00:25:39] Ero, Dikes, Atkinson again.

[00:25:41] So far, Atkinson's been in every position and then Gabriel was at the end.

[00:25:45] I think Atkinson could honestly do a job one to six.

[00:25:48] So at a pinch, he could probably throw him on to do a bit of a roving role at the end

[00:25:52] of the game if he was on the bench.

[00:25:54] I think he's super talented and super diverse.

[00:25:57] I think he's got a pretty good career ahead of him and hopefully we get,

[00:26:01] I hope he gets a couple more than two minutes against the storm side that we're pounding

[00:26:05] us by 50.

[00:26:06] So you were 100% right about Ronnie.

[00:26:09] He started the game that Fitz didn't coach round one against camera because the great

[00:26:14] Matt Ikevali was in the wing.

[00:26:16] That's right.

[00:26:17] Ronnie had a shot in the center.

[00:26:18] Yeah.

[00:26:19] We've also been playing the centers from time to time during games.

[00:26:21] That's what I was thinking of as well.

[00:26:23] I don't want to say it.

[00:26:24] No, I don't think we need to.

[00:26:25] The moment, maybe time goes that way and that's the way his body goes or whatever, maybe

[00:26:29] he.

[00:26:30] I think there was a time where maybe he wanted it and maybe the club wanted it to work so

[00:26:33] we could fit someone else on the wing.

[00:26:35] But let's think for now, it's just such a good finish.

[00:26:37] Or is such a good winger.

[00:26:39] We don't need him to place that in like we've just discussed.

[00:26:41] There's about five blocks there.

[00:26:42] They can do it.

[00:26:43] Now we are talking top 30 here, Josh.

[00:26:45] We might talk about some other guys later if we get to it but just so you don't think

[00:26:49] we're excluding anyone on purpose.

[00:26:51] Yeah, not too bad in that position.

[00:26:53] Maybe we'll hope that they're not both out of the same time.

[00:26:56] Yeah, that would be a bit more difficult.

[00:26:57] You feel like I mean, Jess is pretty reliable besides suspensions.

[00:27:00] It doesn't really get injured.

[00:27:01] Touch wood again.

[00:27:03] As if I think for the most, but besides getting dropped once or twice, he played every

[00:27:07] game.

[00:27:08] He might have had a couple of injuries here and there but we were always able to fill

[00:27:11] that with Connor or the likes.

[00:27:14] So, I mean, so far, I mean our backs have been an issue for years now.

[00:27:17] We've had surplus talent and we've had good talent in our backs.

[00:27:21] I wonder if five has been pretty consistent as well injury wise.

[00:27:25] And they mostly, I mean, Heroddy is a good example recently.

[00:27:30] We know he's had his off moments but when he's on, he just sort of slots in and does a

[00:27:35] job and that's the fit's given way.

[00:27:37] And I think that's the benefit of having guys that stick around at your club for years

[00:27:40] and years.

[00:27:41] They might only play fire 10 games over three years but they're in the system.

[00:27:44] They know their role and they're backed by their coach and their players.

[00:27:48] All right, let's move on to the halves.

[00:27:51] Braden Trandell will be your starting number six.

[00:27:53] There are a number of options to back him up should he need it.

[00:27:57] They include K-Dux.

[00:28:00] They include Dan Atkinson.

[00:28:02] I think you can throw in Newe Peruys more of a half back but you could throw him

[00:28:05] in and that for the moment.

[00:28:08] That's about it might be it.

[00:28:10] There are some really good guys coming through at the young level.

[00:28:13] Some that we've inadvertent comments bought.

[00:28:16] Some that we have developed but if those guys coming through take off, look out like

[00:28:23] they're young but really good players.

[00:28:26] So it's not like there's no hope for the future there but they're not going to play this

[00:28:31] year.

[00:28:32] We understand that Trandell will be starting six and yeah, I think he deserves, I think

[00:28:36] he should be locked in for the year unless he's going absolutely like a busted.

[00:28:41] I think he should be given the year he's by his time really patiently.

[00:28:44] I think he deserves a shot for 25 rounds.

[00:28:47] Joshy, it's not my place to say what's going to happen and what's not going to happen

[00:28:50] but unless the sharks are zero and ten and he's a large reason why that's the case,

[00:28:59] he's there, it's his job.

[00:29:01] He can't cruise, he's got to be good but if he's for example terrible wood, if he's average

[00:29:09] for ten weeks and we're winning, he's not going to be dropped.

[00:29:14] It's his to develop and learn and it's up to the team around him to kind of go with him.

[00:29:19] Now he's got a big job to do but he's got to be supported as well and if they all move

[00:29:24] as one, he'll be fine.

[00:29:26] I know people are calling for K to get the jobs straight away that's not going to happen.

[00:29:29] Could he be in amazing NRL 5-8?

[00:29:32] Absolutely.

[00:29:33] Bit different to Trandell and wouldn't rule it out happening but there is no way in my

[00:29:38] opinion only.

[00:29:39] The Trandell is in any jeopardy for at least the first half of the comp unless it's a disaster

[00:29:47] and there's no reason to think it will be.

[00:29:49] I think what was important was I watched that NRL video that they put out a couple weeks

[00:29:54] ago of every try that we scored this year and the two things that stood out to me were

[00:29:59] one, well Canada was incredible and I think even I forgot how good he was before I got

[00:30:03] injured and two, the Trandell was involved in a lot of good stuff last year when there's

[00:30:07] first few rounds when Niko was out and then when he came back at the end he was in a lot

[00:30:11] of those highlights.

[00:30:12] I'd tell you what you also need to watch is the sharks stopping tries in the last six

[00:30:18] weeks and the coach pointed out on the show in the last episode and it's there for everyone

[00:30:24] to see when they short up that left edge so when Trandell came in and he was next to

[00:30:31] Tallocuy, both of them did really well.

[00:30:33] I think that's been lost on a number of fans who are calling for names in the center

[00:30:39] and in the 5-8 position because the sharks did not lose the final against the roosters

[00:30:46] because of their defense.

[00:30:47] Their defense was awesome so that needs to be looked out when you're talking about Trandell

[00:30:53] how much better the team was in the last five to six weeks, it took a week or two to get

[00:30:59] together and once they clicked they were fine.

[00:31:03] And that's really important.

[00:31:05] So not to say the other guys couldn't do a job but Trandell is doing a job.

[00:31:10] This will be the first offseason he's had where it's his jumper, he's with the big boys

[00:31:14] the A-Team with Niko I think he's in for a big year.

[00:31:18] We do have some depth there if we need it which is a great thing.

[00:31:22] Speaking of Niko the king of Karingbar he's our starting half back should he miss a game

[00:31:29] and if he misses a game I hope to got it only because of RIP football or the reason.

[00:31:32] Where are we going Josh?

[00:31:33] Are we giving the jersey to Neway Peru or are we doing something else?

[00:31:38] I think we give the 7 to Trandell and then we go 6 to Dikes.

[00:31:42] I think that's how you get him in.

[00:31:43] To be honest with my list I've got a number of options at 5-8, I've only got the 3 options

[00:31:48] at half back at least for me which is Niko, Trandell and Peru.

[00:31:52] I would really not want to throw him in yet Peru I would do it and not disrespect to him

[00:31:57] I would do it as much as we could to keep him away from that so far.

[00:32:02] I think he's got a lot of potential, I like away plays but I put Trandell at 7 and I

[00:32:07] probably put Dikes already giving Accentercrac at 6 with him.

[00:32:12] I think with Neway the skies are limit but potentially still learning another year away I think.

[00:32:21] Learning the Fitzgibbon way, I mean do not forget where he came from and what he did in

[00:32:26] the lower grades at Penroth he was winning them titles single handedly in the lower grades.

[00:32:33] So kids are winner, get his confident but I feel like we play a little bit of a different

[00:32:38] style of Penroth and went up Penroth if he played at the NRL level with Penroth which

[00:32:44] he had he didn't but if he did there is a system there that would keep him up if he was

[00:32:49] falling down.

[00:32:50] We have a system and we keep guys from falling down but it's different at a different

[00:32:55] level to theirs there is elite so I think throwing him in too early could be a bit...

[00:33:01] Well against that tremolo.

[00:33:05] If he got named if it's around 15 and we had no options it would be exciting, I'm sure

[00:33:11] everyone would be excited to see how he went and it wouldn't be game over walls ended

[00:33:15] like he's a very talented player so he's there like if Nico and Trindell go down he probably

[00:33:21] does play.

[00:33:22] Absolutely let's hope that doesn't happen what you just said.

[00:33:26] Let's move to the forwards and I'm going to start at a place very topical for you and

[00:33:32] that is the back of the scrum.

[00:33:35] So this week first trial match can McInnis name Captain named Locke.

[00:33:40] I told you in the first segment why Catoa was playing, I don't have any intel on why

[00:33:45] McInnis is playing.

[00:33:47] He's fit as a fiddle he's amazing at what he does.

[00:33:51] The team named is not without experience so it's not like he was necessarily named as

[00:33:57] like the old head.

[00:33:58] Maybe that was the only reason why but I don't know that for a fact.

[00:34:02] I am torn on this one in the sense of him playing the first trial because I would wrap

[00:34:09] him up and caught him all for a bit you know I don't know what he can do.

[00:34:12] It doesn't need the run.

[00:34:14] It doesn't need the run again we don't know how long these guys are going to play.

[00:34:16] I've been at trial matches like all of us and they get they might get 15 minutes and

[00:34:20] you're off.

[00:34:21] So no dramas.

[00:34:24] But we need to work out our depth chart and you and I both have him as our starting

[00:34:30] locks and it doesn't mean that's what's going to happen and we'll address that later on

[00:34:34] but you and I have him as starting lock correct.

[00:34:37] Correct.

[00:34:38] Okay beautiful.

[00:34:39] Should he not be able to start the game lock for whatever reason we have Dalfonuken the

[00:34:44] man's done it all.

[00:34:46] Maybe we could be talked into Josh alternating each week starting and starting depending

[00:34:51] how the team's going.

[00:34:52] Aside from those two great specimens let's look at who we have to play in the lock position.

[00:34:58] Look they're not jumping out at me.

[00:35:00] No look I've only got two options.

[00:35:01] You've only got two?

[00:35:02] So I only had Jack Williams and Jesse Colhoon.

[00:35:06] Yeah okay.

[00:35:07] One of my two options.

[00:35:08] Okay.

[00:35:09] Different kind of locks.

[00:35:10] Yeah I mean your prop locks.

[00:35:12] He's got a similar body shape to cam in terms of that nuggety sort of smaller guy.

[00:35:17] He needs bigger.

[00:35:18] Yeah he's I mean a bit bigger but in terms of like high and like frame.

[00:35:22] He's that same nuggety kind of lock where his day was probably more of that.

[00:35:27] That old school finessey kind of that can take the hit ups and also ball play and then Jesse

[00:35:31] is probably a mix of both styles.

[00:35:35] Yeah.

[00:35:36] He's a big dude but he can play so I would probably would rather Jesse playing middle which

[00:35:41] I guess it's like anyway but playing with that front row roll not the link play man.

[00:35:45] But he's probably an option if we need it.

[00:35:48] Okay.

[00:35:49] Okay so it's a bit brighter than what I thought.

[00:35:51] I guess I did forget about the whole link play thing and you could just have guys barging

[00:35:56] up in the middle.

[00:35:57] If we need it we can put anyone there right?

[00:35:59] Okay and we'll get to what we think will happen at the end of the episode but we're going

[00:36:04] we've we're going with cam and then Dale.

[00:36:07] That leads us to second row.

[00:36:08] I've heard a lot of people whose opinion I rate talk about how we might be a little

[00:36:13] bit short here.

[00:36:15] Let's work it out if we are Josh because I haven't really looked into it until now.

[00:36:18] I got you.

[00:36:19] Haha.

[00:36:20] Our starting guys again to be Teg Wilton and Britton Nicarra.

[00:36:25] Correct?

[00:36:26] Correct.

[00:36:27] Okay beautiful.

[00:36:28] Two very good players.

[00:36:29] Have you got Talika in there?

[00:36:31] He's in the list.

[00:36:32] Where is he on your list?

[00:36:33] He's fourth.

[00:36:34] Okay.

[00:36:35] Okay.

[00:36:36] We did by Billy Burns.

[00:36:38] Is he fifth?

[00:36:40] I've got Britt Teg starting.

[00:36:41] I've actually got Jack Williams there to do a job if we need just to get him on the

[00:36:45] field.

[00:36:46] I've got Siffa, Colhoon and Burns.

[00:36:50] Okay.

[00:36:51] Colhoon we saw play 80 minutes I believe against Manley last year and did a really good job.

[00:36:58] He could play back row lock front row.

[00:37:00] I think it's going to be a good year.

[00:37:01] I think yeah.

[00:37:02] And looking at the rest of the guys that's probably it right?

[00:37:06] Yeah.

[00:37:07] You could have guys that could do 5, 10, 20 minutes there if needed.

[00:37:12] You'd hate to put Toby there but he could feel in if it can cut that up and he could

[00:37:15] do 10 minutes there.

[00:37:16] Sure.

[00:37:17] But you'd like to think that wouldn't happen?

[00:37:19] Go through your list again.

[00:37:20] So I've got Britt Teg Jack Williams.

[00:37:23] So Jack Williams is next cab for you?

[00:37:25] Yeah.

[00:37:26] I know that's probably.

[00:37:27] I could look I could probably put Jesse Colhoon there.

[00:37:29] I'm just I'm hesitant on Billy Burns here.

[00:37:31] I need to see him probably play a few games in our colors.

[00:37:33] I'm thinking about Talli-Ky what's he just want to keep him in the centers?

[00:37:37] I've got Talli-Ky after Williams.

[00:37:39] But not straight up.

[00:37:40] Not straight up.

[00:37:41] Yep.

[00:37:42] Okay.

[00:37:43] I think I did for there.

[00:37:44] Okay.

[00:37:45] I think I'd probably...

[00:37:46] First one up.

[00:37:47] I think so just because we know how amazing he is.

[00:37:48] Yeah.

[00:37:49] And he's moving in one and then someone else comes in.

[00:37:52] The only reason I was going there was because it's the least disruption to the side in terms

[00:37:55] of making a chain Robin Peter to play a Paul type of thing.

[00:37:58] That's right.

[00:37:59] But if you've got name there, we all want to see him have a crack on it.

[00:38:02] Second row I think so.

[00:38:04] So our depth there isn't too bad but we have got...

[00:38:08] Bit of a hole.

[00:38:09] Some props there filling in a roll.

[00:38:13] But I think that's Colhoon for me.

[00:38:19] Maybe he's ahead of Talli-Ky.

[00:38:20] Oh yeah, I'm thinking about me pushing him in front of Williams actually.

[00:38:23] Yeah.

[00:38:24] Let's go him three.

[00:38:25] Yeah.

[00:38:26] Based on what we've seen, what we kind of know.

[00:38:28] Let's go to Blake Island or as the NRL calls it, the hooking position.

[00:38:34] Blake is your starter training the house down with a short hair.

[00:38:38] Now the only other professional hooker in the top 30 is Jaden Barrel.

[00:38:44] We also have Dan Atkinson who could play that.

[00:38:48] You're getting Cam McInnes?

[00:38:50] We have Cam McInnes of course.

[00:38:53] So I'm going to put Cam McInnes second.

[00:38:54] Yeah he's second for me.

[00:38:56] I'm cool with Barrel getting to go but I don't think at the moment he's my NRL hooker

[00:39:03] guy.

[00:39:04] It's a hard one because he's done so much.

[00:39:06] I was looking at his stats today like he's played 90 Queensland Cup games.

[00:39:11] He's won awards.

[00:39:12] He's been in our system for a number of years.

[00:39:14] He goes well with Jets.

[00:39:17] He's not a bad player but there's something holding him back and I can hear our alternative

[00:39:23] audience yelling out.

[00:39:24] It's like Braille holding him back.

[00:39:26] Well that's not completely true.

[00:39:28] Blake guy is a much better player than him.

[00:39:30] Well yeah but that's not even what I'm saying.

[00:39:32] I just think that could he play an NRL game?

[00:39:35] Yeah he could.

[00:39:36] I just don't know if I want to see him starting and playing a long game for us.

[00:39:43] I think the way in for him is that McInnes starts and he gives him a breather.

[00:39:47] Sure and I think that I do think he'd be the very least competent.

[00:39:51] He might light it up.

[00:39:52] I don't know and we won't really noticely get that proper chance.

[00:39:56] What I'm getting at I guess is in the younger grades are not in the top 30 we have Sam

[00:40:03] Healy.

[00:40:04] Now he's going to be playing for the Jets if I'm not mistaken this year.

[00:40:08] And would you throw him in in round one?

[00:40:11] I don't think you do that to the kit.

[00:40:13] But from all reports, he said a great offseason.

[00:40:15] He's built up a lot.

[00:40:16] He's got all the skills.

[00:40:18] If we get to round 20 and he's lighting it up in the lower grades and we're

[00:40:22] going to need someone, I'd probably look to him almost in the way that they did with

[00:40:26] Kate Dix.

[00:40:27] They didn't use Kate Dix because they wanted to.

[00:40:32] They're using because they needed to.

[00:40:34] Now that's not very fair and Jaden barrel.

[00:40:36] So it's up to him to kind of I think fight off Sam Healy eventually.

[00:40:40] I think if it's round one and you needed one of those two, you'd go barrel.

[00:40:44] I think so.

[00:40:45] But by all reports, Healy is climbing the ladder.

[00:40:49] I think for my list, I had, bravely obviously, starting McKinnis as two, barrel as three.

[00:40:54] I had burns in here purely as an in-game say something goes wrong.

[00:40:59] If you need someone to shove the ball around, I think burns could do that.

[00:41:03] And I did have Healy as a last option.

[00:41:05] It's the fifth option if absolute chaos erupted or any situation is there.

[00:41:11] The burns thing though is only happening in theory if he's in the 17.

[00:41:14] Of course.

[00:41:15] So it is McKinnis.

[00:41:17] You'll have to do it.

[00:41:18] And if save.

[00:41:19] And that's not a problem.

[00:41:20] No, he's done it for 10 years.

[00:41:22] Yeah.

[00:41:23] So in a lot of ways, I actually think we're not in bad shape there.

[00:41:29] Like OK Blake's played 400 million games in a row.

[00:41:32] Touchwood, he plays them all again.

[00:41:34] But if he doesn't, barrel is going to have a crack.

[00:41:38] I know I'm talking about it a little bit, but he's going to have a crack.

[00:41:40] He's going to give you what he's got.

[00:41:42] We have McKinnis.

[00:41:43] We have Atkinson who I don't think I want to see him make 100 tackles.

[00:41:48] But he could do the other stuff and potentially in time there's Sam Healy.

[00:41:52] So that's not too bad.

[00:41:54] I've also forgot they did, I don't know if it was a year before or two years ago, they

[00:41:58] did have Jack Williams do a little bit in place as well.

[00:42:01] Again, he could probably shovel it out for five or 10, 15 minutes.

[00:42:04] I mean with all respect, it's the stuff you and I could do it all the way since just

[00:42:07] lean down and pass the ball.

[00:42:09] You know, like I'm not talking it down but I don't want to see Jack.

[00:42:13] I was a hook on my whole life.

[00:42:14] I've got the talent if it needs me.

[00:42:17] All right, I'm going to move on Josh.

[00:42:19] Thanks.

[00:42:20] It's a prop.

[00:42:21] One of my favorite positions to talk about the props.

[00:42:24] I don't know if BHU is going to be ready for round one.

[00:42:28] Oh yeah?

[00:42:29] Declaration.

[00:42:30] I'm not saying he's not.

[00:42:31] I don't know if we'll see him in the trials.

[00:42:33] He's injured.

[00:42:34] Yeah, okay.

[00:42:35] Hopefully wrong on we don't see him in week two and make it for round one but I think

[00:42:41] at the moment it's a bit.

[00:42:42] We've got some sort of go, Sam.

[00:42:44] Yeah, Tony Rudolph has been fighting his long battle with the toe.

[00:42:51] Not making light of it.

[00:42:52] Just a funny thing to say that it's auto.

[00:42:54] It has caused him a lot of problems man like in all seriousness.

[00:42:57] Like he's had a lot of problems.

[00:42:59] He's still got it.

[00:43:00] I don't know what's going on there but I'm assuming he'll be okay for round one.

[00:43:05] We got Dale Furniken who could also play there.

[00:43:07] We got Jesse Cole Hoon who could play there.

[00:43:09] We got Max Bradbury who could play there.

[00:43:11] We got Eric Confuci who could play there.

[00:43:12] We got Royce Hantu who's fighting fit.

[00:43:14] We're going to go, we got Tautom and the guy that a lot of the people down at the sharks

[00:43:19] are talking about this year is Big Tuku Haye Tupua and we'll get to him but he's doing

[00:43:28] really well.

[00:43:29] So give me your depth, Joshi.

[00:43:31] I guess we're assuming when they've everyone's fit.

[00:43:34] That's what I thought.

[00:43:35] Yeah, if everyone's fit.

[00:43:36] I mean this whole this has kind of been based on fitness.

[00:43:37] Yes.

[00:43:38] We got Toby in ULA as my starting props.

[00:43:43] We've got Hunt, Tommy, Confuci, Dale, Williams, Cole Hoon.

[00:43:48] The last kind of three you take your pick, you draw a name out of the hat.

[00:43:52] Sure.

[00:43:53] I think we've actually got a number of options there.

[00:43:55] I'm not saying they're all elite incredible options but they're all first graders who

[00:43:58] can play and they've filled a role in the have before and they've played well.

[00:44:02] We know Royce Hantu when he gets going is unstoppable.

[00:44:06] All Tom had a great call it first year.

[00:44:09] I think he's going to go take another step this year.

[00:44:11] It's a slowly go through your listing in for me.

[00:44:14] Okay, so we've got Toby, ULA.

[00:44:17] So they're your starters?

[00:44:18] Yeah.

[00:44:19] I've got Hunt.

[00:44:20] I've got Tommy, Confuci.

[00:44:22] Hunt, Tommy, Confuci.

[00:44:24] Okay.

[00:44:25] Dale, Williams, Cole Hoon.

[00:44:27] They're not all going to fit.

[00:44:30] I know but that's what I'm saying.

[00:44:31] We've got a lot of options.

[00:44:32] I'm then again, that's my whole point.

[00:44:34] I'm not saying they're all amazing and that they all like where they all have a story

[00:44:38] to tell.

[00:44:39] They've got a reason to put that say hey, I'm ready.

[00:44:40] They could all play.

[00:44:41] Wow.

[00:44:42] Okay, that's interesting.

[00:44:43] And maybe this list my front row wasn't so much in order as my other list because I probably

[00:44:48] have Williams at number three realistically.

[00:44:50] Sure.

[00:44:51] Sure, sure.

[00:44:52] My third best, arguably best front row we have but I think like him and Tommy and Hunt are

[00:44:58] going to have a nice little battle for who gets those big minutes out of the three

[00:45:02] of them off the bench.

[00:45:03] Wow.

[00:45:04] What a pickle for the coach.

[00:45:06] That's tough, man.

[00:45:08] You're going to have like probably like someone like Confuci has to lift.

[00:45:11] I don't know if he gets in the side and we'll go get into that later but him and Cole

[00:45:15] Hoon fighting out for maybe next drop off on first injury or you know there's a bit

[00:45:21] of talent there but we need we can.

[00:45:23] We're in the way that they're talking about co-hoon down in the club.

[00:45:26] It's like he's they're expecting big things.

[00:45:29] They've had reps on him.

[00:45:30] I think he might be off contract as well.

[00:45:33] They're not all going to fit Josh.

[00:45:35] Yeah, I'm going to get to that when we go to our team for round one but it's a good little

[00:45:39] spot when everyone's that top 30's healthy as a good squad man like it really is.

[00:45:44] Just missing an out of finil black type player.

[00:45:47] So obviously we're shedding someone we weren't speculating right now but someone's

[00:45:50] going to miss out on when he's here.

[00:45:53] Some of those guys who have been playing for the Jets or 18th.

[00:45:59] Depending which way you want to go there.

[00:46:02] Oh boy.

[00:46:03] Okay.

[00:46:04] It's a good problem to have one fit.

[00:46:05] No it is.

[00:46:06] It is a great problem to have.

[00:46:07] Alright, let's talk utilities.

[00:46:08] Let's have a look here.

[00:46:11] I mean Dan Atkinson for me is your number one.

[00:46:14] Yep.

[00:46:15] Although.

[00:46:16] You got okay ducks.

[00:46:19] You got yeah.

[00:46:20] Different kind of utility.

[00:46:21] Different kind of utility.

[00:46:22] I think you get more out of you get more bang for your buck with Atkinson in terms of

[00:46:26] how many positions he could play.

[00:46:28] Yeah.

[00:46:29] I want to mention.

[00:46:30] Billy Burns would be utility.

[00:46:33] Yeah.

[00:46:34] Isn't he just a second row?

[00:46:36] No, he's played a bit of center.

[00:46:37] Yeah like again these are not first second third choices but he could do it.

[00:46:43] If we if things went to absolute hell Billy Burns could do it.

[00:46:47] He might not have been named these definitely played games there.

[00:46:51] Second row he could probably do a little job at proc.

[00:46:55] That's his day and I think that's his appeal.

[00:46:57] His ability to kind of do a couple little things here and there whereas.

[00:47:01] So obviously 41 games he's literally played a half a second row, half a interchange and

[00:47:06] that's where he can float around.

[00:47:08] I'm sure he's from memory is definitely filled in with simbins or what have you at

[00:47:13] center but.

[00:47:14] Okay.

[00:47:15] We can add him to the list.

[00:47:16] That might be it from the top 30 so maybe I mean we say utility but like I'm referring

[00:47:26] to like hook a half but you could have Caliro or someone.

[00:47:30] Yeah.

[00:47:31] Like so street could probably do the whole one to five so yeah.

[00:47:33] If someone's in doubt he might go that option the coach Josh that's kind of the main

[00:47:39] depth chart from the top 30 there very least there are some juniors that potentially could

[00:47:45] get a crack that have to make it into the top 30 bit of tinkering to do there.

[00:47:49] I kind of try not to mention anyone that realistically is not going to play this year.

[00:47:53] Yeah.

[00:47:54] I think that for example Sam Healey fits into that category where potentially as I said

[00:48:01] before later in the year he could do it school wise you wouldn't want to rush it but if

[00:48:08] the three hookers go down and he's got a play.

[00:48:10] He's got to play.

[00:48:11] He's got to play.

[00:48:12] It's going to make it happen so overall I know we're completely biased but what are

[00:48:16] your feelings as far as the quality of that depth chart?

[00:48:20] I think if you looked across the comp there wouldn't be many sides that have the decently

[00:48:28] size depth that we have.

[00:48:29] I think we've got a pretty good depth squad deep squad.

[00:48:33] It's not the best but you've got guys that can play first grade level for five games,

[00:48:39] ten games here or there realistically you're not going to get that many injuries over

[00:48:43] the course of season at the same time where you pull in you know 20 year olds out it happens

[00:48:49] but we've been pretty lucky for the most part of the last few years so obviously doing

[00:48:54] something right down at the club with their training and their rehabilitation.

[00:48:58] A lot of guys, a lot of these guys would be playing first grade round one at other clubs

[00:49:04] I think we've got to remember that.

[00:49:05] I think particularly the forwards.

[00:49:07] Just to go home we'll be playing first grade.

[00:49:09] I think a bunch of the, I think the Irish and Gavirsi somewhere else.

[00:49:12] For me, yeah.

[00:49:13] They'd all be playing first grade guaranteed and they're not guaranteed here and Dikes would

[00:49:18] probably be starting at like a Tigers he'd probably be starting six.

[00:49:22] Absolutely, I mean the dog's won on him just really so Dolphins wanted him to see yeah it's

[00:49:27] pretty cool.

[00:49:28] It's pretty cool squad.

[00:49:29] Josh, I want you right now.

[00:49:32] I want your round one team.

[00:49:34] Round one team and we'll base it on the best rather than what's available.

[00:49:40] So in other words if they're all fit.

[00:49:41] Yep.

[00:49:42] Who I'm picking from.

[00:49:43] Who you've got?

[00:49:44] Yeah.

[00:49:45] So if I'm the coach, if I'm Fitsy, round one warriors Friday night.

[00:49:48] Well, Canada is my fullback.

[00:49:51] Katowah and Ronaldo are my wingers.

[00:49:53] Jesse and Sifre are my centers.

[00:49:57] Braden Trindle starts at six.

[00:49:59] Nickahinds is seven.

[00:50:01] Toby Rudolph and Hamlin Uela are my starting props.

[00:50:05] Blake Braley is my nine.

[00:50:08] Britton Nacora, Teg Walton are my second rowers.

[00:50:12] Sam McKinnis is my 13.

[00:50:14] Then my bench is Jack Williams, Tautom Hazleton, Royce Hunt and Dale Fnuken with Dix and

[00:50:24] Cole Hoon is my 18th and 19th man.

[00:50:27] So that's basically Dix is my for round one.

[00:50:30] He's my one to six cover and Cole Hoon is my 10 to 15 at five o'clock Australian time.

[00:50:37] Who's your 18th man?

[00:50:38] He's the ab one.

[00:50:39] Yeah, I'll probably go Dix for round one.

[00:50:41] Just to keep him hungry, I think.

[00:50:43] Yeah, more than anything having him around the squad.

[00:50:46] One thing I've loved about him in the off season is seeing he's been in a lot of clips

[00:50:49] right and the training and all the stuff they're doing.

[00:50:52] He looks like the most competitive little bugger.

[00:50:55] The basketball thing, I don't know if you saw that one.

[00:50:56] He was filthy that Nickah was even trying to cheat him out a little bit and looks like

[00:51:02] he just wants to win everything.

[00:51:03] I love that attitude and it looks super fit.

[00:51:06] I want to get him in there but I just can't at the moment.

[00:51:09] So what forwards are missing out there?

[00:51:11] So missing out is Kofusi, Cole Hoon.

[00:51:14] OK.

[00:51:15] And I guess Billy Burns if you can't count his second one.

[00:51:18] Sure.

[00:51:19] But I really want Cole Hoon in that squad too.

[00:51:21] Like I nearly dropped Dale for him.

[00:51:24] It's tough on.

[00:51:25] I mean I don't think well I know that won't happen but he should be in that team.

[00:51:31] Yeah, so.

[00:51:32] But how do I get him in?

[00:51:33] Yeah.

[00:51:34] Yeah.

[00:51:35] Out of that team what do you think Fitzgibbon will do?

[00:51:39] I think that team will run out except that McHenrys will be on the bench.

[00:51:45] Dale will start 13.

[00:51:46] OK.

[00:51:47] I think that that will be there.

[00:51:49] I think that they will be the only switch.

[00:51:51] OK.

[00:51:52] And then obviously 18, 19 might be.

[00:51:53] I think he will show those two anyway.

[00:51:55] He could do Dan that can.

[00:51:56] You could do I think he'll be in that extended reserve squad.

[00:52:00] The four it'll be like Dikes, Cole Hoon, Kofusi and Cacan.

[00:52:03] I think if Dikes is really good in both trials and I think he will play both trials.

[00:52:08] I think that he might go ahead of that concern.

[00:52:14] Or they'll be at least level and then the coach might go well we're playing the Warriors.

[00:52:19] This guy's more suited than this guy for body whatever.

[00:52:22] Yeah, smaller body.

[00:52:23] Yeah, it might come down to that until one of them takes the next leap.

[00:52:28] I think that you know Hannah my heart Dikes is more talented.

[00:52:34] Yes.

[00:52:36] Atkinson's really good.

[00:52:38] And he's got different things as well going on than a better than Dikes.

[00:52:42] Like as in like he does things some things better than what he and vice versa.

[00:52:46] I think it's funny that we've say like it's we're kind of talking Dikes and and Atkinson,

[00:52:51] but if any the wingers go down Stone Street jumps ahead of both of them,

[00:52:54] which is funny.

[00:52:56] Like I'm like, yeah, I'm telling that in my head.

[00:52:58] Yeah, yeah.

[00:52:58] OK, interesting.

[00:53:00] I think it's a really good team though.

[00:53:02] I mean, I know it's very similar to last two years.

[00:53:05] I get that.

[00:53:06] I'll tell you, first of all, I want to thank everyone who listened to the last episode

[00:53:10] with Craig Fitzgibbon.

[00:53:12] It did really well.

[00:53:13] Not that matters to you guys, but it did really well for us and it was absolutely

[00:53:17] a pleasure to do it.

[00:53:18] But one of the things I took away, I took away a lot Josh from that interview, but one

[00:53:23] of the things that took away was some of the things he mentioned on air about the 100

[00:53:29] gamers.

[00:53:30] And we've heard him talk about that stuff before.

[00:53:32] I've seen, I think this week it might be Nika.

[00:53:35] Well, one of the other fellows was talking to him and he started talking about this guy

[00:53:38] as approaching the 100 game mark.

[00:53:41] They're pretty confident that keeping this team together over the next while we'll bring

[00:53:49] the fruits, you know?

[00:53:50] And small additions.

[00:53:51] Yeah.

[00:53:52] Yeah.

[00:53:53] Fnual Blake's coming.

[00:53:54] Beauty.

[00:53:55] That can't hurt.

[00:53:56] You know, I mean, so they're happy with what they got.

[00:54:01] They're happy to resign these guys.

[00:54:03] They believe in them.

[00:54:05] I mean, all you got to do is go back and listen the last episode.

[00:54:07] Krey Fitzgibbon pretty much puts it down on the table.

[00:54:10] He says what happened in his opinion?

[00:54:13] And you guys might have a different opinion of him, but he said what happened in his eyes?

[00:54:17] He sees the difference this year to what the last two years have been where they have

[00:54:21] to be better.

[00:54:23] He's confident that the guys we have can do the job.

[00:54:26] And as you say, then we get Fnual Blake next year.

[00:54:28] So as you say, my point is that squad is pretty strong.

[00:54:32] But I think one of the benefits you said are there being together for two years?

[00:54:36] That's a benefit man.

[00:54:37] Yeah, I agree.

[00:54:38] Like if they'd been together for two years and stunk, well, geez, that's a different story.

[00:54:43] They have not had success in the finals.

[00:54:46] We know that.

[00:54:47] It's out there.

[00:54:48] We know it.

[00:54:49] They need to have success in the finals.

[00:54:51] But leading into that.

[00:54:52] You got to get there.

[00:54:53] They've been pretty good.

[00:54:54] I mean, last year wasn't as good as the year before but it wasn't a bad year.

[00:54:58] Lots of injuries, lots of reasons.

[00:55:00] Should've done better.

[00:55:01] I didn't.

[00:55:02] I just think that the squad they have, they're getting more confident each year within

[00:55:06] themselves.

[00:55:08] We've been on the group chat about I'm of the opinion that they are hurting a lot from

[00:55:14] the last finals loss.

[00:55:17] I think one of you guys raised the point that they should have been hurting from the previous

[00:55:21] ones which they probably were but my response to that was like all the fans.

[00:55:27] I feel like I'm just going to be able to do it.

[00:55:31] But the losing in finals has to stop by getting to the finals is still a priority and with

[00:55:37] this squad we know we can do it.

[00:55:39] There's no excuses but also no reason why we can't have a great year.

[00:55:42] So we've just got to build and peak at the right time.

[00:55:46] For Nua Blake is the attraction coming.

[00:55:49] It's like you're by a concert ticket and they're coming in a year, you know?

[00:55:51] So was that your talent?

[00:55:53] You missed Taylor Swift man?

[00:55:55] The tickets are all gone again.

[00:55:58] We've got a big year Joshy, big year ahead and I think if we stay injury free it's going

[00:56:03] to be a very memorable season.

[00:56:05] We've got my choice to cross off that depth chart list.

[00:56:09] We would like to hear your opinion.

[00:56:11] Let us know maybe what you do differently.

[00:56:14] You don't have to necessarily send us your 17 in but just what you do differently.

[00:56:17] It's Josh.

[00:56:18] I'm going to name my preferred team in a few weeks on an episode.

[00:56:21] I'm not quite ready to do.

[00:56:23] To name mine yet.

[00:56:24] It's going to be tough.

[00:56:25] That was tough today.

[00:56:27] Yeah that forward situation scares me a lot.

[00:56:31] But if good problem?

[00:56:32] If you will he's not fit for round one.

[00:56:34] Sure.

[00:56:35] That opens up a chance for you probably go hunt to start and then call who comes in.

[00:56:39] Maybe or Kavushi.

[00:56:40] Maybe.

[00:56:41] Lots of options there which is what we've been discussing for the last hour or so.

[00:56:45] Josh, we're ready to go man.

[00:56:48] Trials this week.

[00:56:49] Can't wait.

[00:56:50] We do say it every year like don't worry about the results so much.

[00:56:52] I mean, I've seen this lose by 40 and then make the finals.

[00:56:58] Yeah.

[00:56:59] I've seen this win by 40 and not make the finals.

[00:57:01] Don't worry about the results.

[00:57:02] You worry about the effort.

[00:57:04] You do worry about the cohesion and you worry about injuries that's it seriously.

[00:57:09] Just enjoy the fact that we've got the 40 back.

[00:57:11] Save it for when it counts man.

[00:57:12] Just enjoy it that it's back.

[00:57:13] We've got three games on Saturday I think.

[00:57:15] Yeah.

[00:57:16] Three games of 40 on a Saturday.

[00:57:17] Well Friday nights you all start game Friday night actually it starts with the preseason

[00:57:22] game.

[00:57:23] We're back.

[00:57:24] Can't everybody's playing I think so we're back.

[00:57:25] We're back.

[00:57:26] Shotcast is back.

[00:57:27] We didn't really go anywhere but we're back for good.

[00:57:28] We've got a few things we're going to tinker with.

[00:57:31] Maybe some different sort of episodes.

[00:57:32] Josh, I've been thinking a lot about this one's going to get me a lot of trouble because

[00:57:36] I'm going to say it that means I have to do it.

[00:57:38] I've been thinking about listener involvement on the show and I'm thinking something akin

[00:57:43] to call on in.

[00:57:46] Let's get the tech.

[00:57:47] Let's make it happen.

[00:57:48] Call us.

[00:57:49] Have you.

[00:57:50] Have you thought?

[00:57:51] Yeah.

[00:57:52] Good to do it is.

[00:57:53] But don't swear.

[00:57:54] No swearing.

[00:57:55] So we're going to work on that.

[00:57:56] Yeah.

[00:57:57] So if you're interested keep your ears peeled we're going to try and do that.

[00:58:01] Not sure what it'll be it might be post game it might be midweek it might be on a Monday

[00:58:04] night.

[00:58:05] I'm not really sure.

[00:58:07] We want to get you guys and girls having your opinions where possible so we'll see what

[00:58:12] we can do about that.

[00:58:13] If we don't do it just pretend we didn't have this conversation but now it's out there

[00:58:18] we're going to try and do that sort of thing.

[00:58:20] You might even see us on some videos at some point Josh on the YouTube's on the YouTube's

[00:58:26] maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe there's a whole thing about podcast now turning into yeah YouTube

[00:58:33] videos and that kind of thing our production my skills we're not going to be high class

[00:58:38] videos but what I am interested in is little grabs for the socials you know so we're not

[00:58:44] going to try and pretend to be Hollywood stars but I wouldn't mind getting all that stuff

[00:58:50] out there as well.

[00:58:51] It's a lot to do Josh need assistance or something you know it's just so much to do.

[00:58:55] Get some Steven Spielberg down here to shoot a couple of shots for you.

[00:58:59] I might get in touch with him Josh enough about what we're going to do here's what we have

[00:59:04] done we've done the depth chart for this year.

[00:59:07] Let us know what you do differently love to hear from you we can I get the episodes out

[00:59:11] to you when we can and thanks again for sticking with us this is Shark Us pod.

[00:59:17] We do love having you guys and girls around to your friends, your family, your neighbours,

[00:59:22] your colleagues people on the train on the bus.

[00:59:27] Your enemies.

[00:59:28] When you're jogging your enemies will love it get us out there Shark Us pod you know

[00:59:33] we're not suggesting it's for everyone but it might be for someone who hasn't heard

[00:59:36] us so I'm going to get off the couch now and stop talking about my life and we're

[00:59:41] going to go upload this episode and have some fun and we'll be back sometime after

[00:59:47] the Newcastle game.

[00:59:49] We've got a game this weekend Josh exciting.

[00:59:51] So good Saturday maybe a couple of beers watch the sharks romp the Newcastle nights.

[00:59:58] Romp don't romp just don't get injured it doesn't matter thanks to listening to Shark

[01:00:02] Us pod will be back soon.

[01:00:04] Thanks so much for your time Joshy.

[01:00:06] Thank you mate.

[01:00:06] Cheers.
