[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Boys went through all their final prep and everyone was looking pretty good.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the vibes are high. Everyone's feeling good. Everyone in the building knows what we can do.

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_02]: And everyone else can doubt us and see what happens.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of doubt going on, that's for sure, from the outside Shark world.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Now it was revealed on the Instagram, I think accidentally that Jesse Raymond will not be playing.

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_03]: He was photographed by himself in a coffee shop this morning in Cronulla.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_03]: So that was kind of out of the bag by Jesse himself.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_03]: So unfortunately Jesse not fit to play, not fit to travel all the best for next week.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Hopefully not next week but the week after. So that's Obama.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_03]: But we do know that tall Tom has made the fitness cut. He'll be on the bench, which is awesome news for him and for the team.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Tell me about captains run. You're fresh from there. How did that go?

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was a really good morning actually. Obviously I'm pretty privileged to be in the position I'm in

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and to sit in the team meetings and to see what their plan is and what they're thinking

[00:02:16] [SPEAKER_02]: and how they want to run the game and all the lead up and things like that.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, through all the video sessions this morning, everyone's looking good.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Everyone's feeling positive and then they just go through their last run.

[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_02]: We were at a rugby club about 20 minutes away from the city here and yeah, they ran through their paces.

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Everyone was looking good and just touching up a few things here and there that they needed to do

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_02]: and obviously coming together and chatting about everything that's happening

[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_02]: and obviously those changes as you mentioned. So Jesse unfortunately out but Siffer named in the centres

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_02]: and Tommy Hazer back onto the bench, which is good after we thought he would possibly be in a bit of doubt

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_02]: after the manly game but yeah, he's back in there. So good to see.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_03]: So coach has gone with Talakai over Atkinson. Atkinson to the bench, still a really important role.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_02]: He's done a job there for us before. He knows exactly what he needs to do and how he needs to play

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_02]: and yeah, we've got another big body back in Oregon who was obviously rested last week

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and we need that engine room firing against those storm forwards.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_02]: So looking forward to that contest but yeah, pushing Royce back to the bench.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Get a bit of impact there that Siffer might have.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: He gave us a lot of impact off the bench and with him missing there, Guy like Royce needs to step up.

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'm looking forward to the game and pumped everyone down his pumps.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_02]: A few Sharks fans around which is nice and yeah, everyone's in a good mood.

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there'll be plenty more arriving over the next 24, that's for sure.

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I know a lot of people going down. There's obviously a big contention who lived out there.

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_03]: We spoke to Lush on the show during the week and he's got a whole bunch of people excited.

[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_03]: They're gonna meet at the Pink Lemonade Bar about one o'clock on a game day.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_03]: So head down there before the game and let them know that we sent you.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I think there's gonna be some black, white and blue in the crowd.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Obviously there'll be a lot more purple but it's gonna be a great contest from what you and I can tell the boys are up for it

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's got a bit of a feel about it. Hopefully it goes that way.

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there's nothing worse than when it doesn't go that way but I feel like it will go that way.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it'll be a tight contest and we're in it up to our armpits

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_03]: and yeah, there's something about Sharks and Melbourne, Melbourne and Sharks that can be quite special, especially this time of year.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Especially come finals time, I agree.

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. Fitsy did his presser this morning which I thought was pretty cool and he was talking about the rivalry

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_03]: and the reporter was sort of saying, oh it's 2016, it's been a long time since 2016.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_03]: It's still there but this is a new batch of guys and it's a different thing.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like we wanna beat you in a finals rivalry.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_03]: It's not Camp Smith and World Chambers versus Graham and Gallon.

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a bit different to that which is probably for the best.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_03]: They could just focus on the footy.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_03]: How have you gauged the younger guys like particularly Kyle Iroh

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_03]: and some of the more inexperienced fellas on the trip down?

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Are they as cool as what they usually are?

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Are they feeling alright?

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're exactly the same as they are on every away trip.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Everyone's in that zone and they know what they need to do and how they prepare

[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_02]: and they all have their individual things that they do

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_02]: and their little bits and pieces that they like to go for a walk to this coffee shop

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_02]: or that coffee shop and do their little routines throughout the weekend.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_02]: So everyone's just rolling out as per normal and yeah, there's no nervousness

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_02]: or anything like that.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Everyone sort of, they realize what an opportunity we've got

[00:05:36] [SPEAKER_02]: and I think they're able to believe that they can go out there and do it

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_02]: and they're gonna give it all they can tomorrow night

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_02]: and I'm really looking forward to the contest.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_02]: As you mentioned, there's no AFL on down here which is nice.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_02]: So it seems like the town's embracing rugby league a little bit more

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_02]: than it usually does when we come down here.

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Usually you can't find a TV with an add-on but at the moment,

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_02]: they're running footy ads all through the day and it's great.

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_02]: It's good vibes.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, rugby league's the focus and we're ready to go.

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk about Nico, he hasn't done this, hasn't done that.

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_02]: throughout every activity that we do

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: it's just I haven't experienced that in a while

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_02]: since working here and it's a special group

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_02]: that I think can do something pretty special.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm looking forward to the game

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_02]: and I feel like everyone's doubting us

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_02]: that's when we play our best Fiti.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_02]: We have no pressure on us, we can go out there

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_02]: and we're a tough gritty side when we want to be

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_02]: and if we turn up tomorrow night

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_02]: they've got something to worry about.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_03]: It's been interesting watching the press this week

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_03]: they literally at times have ignored

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_03]: that we are a club in the finals

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_03]: and you'd sort of think well if we were in the night spot

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and came eighth, they're the least likely to do something

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_03]: because they came eighth.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_03]: We came fourth, we've been in the finals

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_03]: under Fiti for three straight years

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_03]: and they're literally not talking about us in segments

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_03]: and when they get to the Melbourne Sharks game

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_03]: they talk about Melbourne and they go to the next game.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like what?

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's crazy, yeah.

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_03]: They'll be talking about us when we win.

[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_03]: That's the funny thing about it all.

[00:08:18] [SPEAKER_03]: I bang on about it a lot Gary on the show

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_03]: as you know that this group in my 10 years of covering it

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I have not seen a closer group and that includes 2016

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_03]: and you just sort of pretty much said the same thing as well

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's a fact and when I talk to the players

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_03]: about what can you learn from this or where to go wrong

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_03]: they always talk about connecting.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_03]: They don't go we missed the tackles or we dropped the ball

[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_03]: they go we needed to work on our connection in that moment

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_03]: and I'm sitting there going okay well I think I know what that means

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_03]: but it's a really unusual answer

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_03]: but it's exactly what you just said like they're working on

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_03]: and then so someone can go well why aren't they connected all the time

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_03]: it's like well they are connected

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_03]: there's no issue in that moment it's more communication

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_03]: or just rising to that occasion in that moment

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_02]: and knowing what each other has each other's back

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_02]: and they're going to be in the spot they need to be

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_02]: and so you need to be in your spot

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_02]: and if everyone gets that right and everything's linked

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_02]: and chained together we can do special things

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_03]: So I think that's a major bonus for us

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_03]: and I'm not suggesting the storm don't have it

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't follow them that closely maybe they've got it in truckloads

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know but the fact that we have it right now

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_03]: is a huge bonus for us

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Storm come into the game in unbelievable form

[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_03]: they're just winning by a lot every week

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_03]: they finish first

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_03]: In finals Gary this may shock you

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_03]: they've lost four of the past finals

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_03]: as Fiti said in the presser we're talking about

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_03]: President of Future we're not too focused on the history of things

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_03]: but that's an interesting thing when you think about the storm

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_03]: this finals juggernaut

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_03]: they've actually lost four of the past five so they are beatable

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_03]: they are however scoring 29 points per game

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_03]: and in history of the storm that's the second most in a season

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_03]: that they've been scoring so they're in really good form

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_03]: they are missing the fewest tackles

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_03]: conceding the fewest meters defensively they're great

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_03]: they're great all around the park in all seriousness

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_03]: the spine is unbelievable

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_03]: So I think for Cronella they've just got to play

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_03]: it's two-fold they've got to worry about their own game

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_03]: and then shut down the key players at the storm

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_03]: so it's going to be a tricky 80 minutes

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_03]: has there been talk Gary about playing for the 80?

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_02]: but sticking to our processes and plans

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_02]: and making sure we don't, you know if a moment goes wrong

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_02]: you've got to brush it and get on with the next moment

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_02]: because a finals game is all about those one second opportunities

[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_02]: and if we're not taking our seconds when they present themselves

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_02]: we're just going to get so far behind that it's not going to matter

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So I think if we can roll through the middle

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_02]: make the storm a bit uncomfortable, make them run around a bit

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_02]: which was a bit surprising when we first heard about his injury

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_02]: and then during the week he seemed to be training alright

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_02]: and thought oh is he in the shot here

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_02]: and then yeah he travelled down with the team

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_02]: and got through captain's run so

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_02]: ready to go he's looking good

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Everyone else looks fit firing? No injury clouds or?

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_02]: No injury clouds obviously as we mentioned at the top of the show

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Jesse unfortunately did make the trip down

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_02]: and yeah it's probably more of a

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_02]: you know he was touching go there apparently according to physios

[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_02]: like he could have been there but

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_02]: when we've got that second chance

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_02]: do we really want to risk a guy like Jesse

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_02]: who's a key cog in our back line

[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and you know a real strong defensive attacking player

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_02]: do we want to risk that long term

[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_02]: or do we just rest in this week

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_02]: and make sure he's right for that back end run

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_02]: obviously and you know photos videos

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_02]: all that fun stuff and then tomorrow game day

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_02]: we'll do a team walk in the morning

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't think I'm not sure where that'll be

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_02]: but we'll go down play some ball games

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_02]: just get around each other and have a bit of breccy

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_02]: and then everyone sort of does their own thing

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_02]: in the lead up to the game

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_02]: and do our last bits of prep video work

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_02]: there's all these guys that come together
