[00:00:26] They've got a Facebook page, or you could go old school and call them on 029523 9300. Hey, here we go. Hey there. Welcome to SharkCast, part of a podcast dedicated to the greatest sporting club in the history of the world, the mighty Cronulla Sutherland Sharks.

[00:00:55] My name is Sam Shinazzi. I'm not going to spend my whole time looking at the camera because the camera is over there, but we are here at Mr Paisley's Inn at North Caringbah. It is the greatest cafe in the history of the world. We're also brought to you by Dyson Logistics, the Royal Motor Yacht Club in Port Hacking, and Jason Hawes of Cripps & Cripps Real Estate, who lives very close to this location. I won't say exactly where for security reasons. Gary Dover, welcome to your own show, Gaz and Shinazzi. We're back to preview the Broncos game. How are you?

[00:01:22] I'm very well, thank you. We were just chatting before about how lucky we are to sit in the boardroom of Mr Paisley's now after, you know, a few years back there where we were bringing each other muffins from the location to the stadium, and now we're here in the boardroom. So thanks for having us. Yeah, grinding away over the years. We finally made it to the boardroom. And we are here to talk about the Broncos game, but we also saw last night. Yes. Not a great display from the NRLW team in round one. Lost to the Knights. Was it 18-4? Something like that.

[00:01:52] Yeah, something like that. Quite a dominant performance. I thought defensively in the first half they held their own. It was 4-0 at halftime. Repeated sets of attack in our own 20 against us, and we held them off, which is good signs. Started the second half well with a great try to random buyers, but unfortunately just couldn't go on with it. Yeah. And to be fair, not a great performance all round. Yeah, it wasn't the best, and obviously you need to start pretty well in the NRLW. It's a short season, so unfortunately they're not off to the best start.

[00:02:22] There were a few good things to see there, but yeah, a lot of bad as well. So there's a lot to work on. But yeah, I think... What were the few good things? Oh, look, some of those defensive efforts on their line I thought were pretty good, but in patches there they were just... they didn't seem connected. They didn't seem like communication was that good in attack. Like there's just a few little things that I think they need to work on. Obviously some people are playing out of position and things like that. But yeah, at the same time, as I said, it's a short season, so they need to get off to a good start. And unfortunately they didn't.

[00:02:46] But yeah, that period after halftime where the Knights had that person in the bin, I thought they didn't handle that as best they could. Obviously we scored a nice try off a set piece off the scrum there, but I thought they should have got a couple more points there. And the Knights, they lost a few opportunities there. They dropped the ball or came up with errors really close to the line. So I thought they probably left a few points on the bench as well. Yeah, for sure. I think for me the most disappointing thing was just not coming out of the gates well

[00:03:15] from the start of the game and also just in round one in general. Broncos are coming to town next Thursday. It'll be a fun event, but really up against it given the form of the Broncos last year. You have to see them play at the moment, but they'll be pretty good again. It's a winnable game. It's not like this thing that can't be achieved, but based on round one, they're going to have to lift their socks quite a lot. Yes. And I have no doubt they will because they'll have to. I believe Penitani Gray should be back.

[00:03:44] She's slated to be around round two, not round three. So that'll help. And then you have Byers back in the pack. Yet to hear about young Stephanie Faulkner, but it looked like a pretty bad injury there. Yeah, it did look good on TV, the ankle there. So hopefully she's all right. She was on for a minute or so. Yeah, it felt like not even a minute. She came onto a carry and she was off. And obviously losing a Nessa in the first 10 or so minutes into the bin, that didn't help either. But we just felt on the back foot. Weird game and fifth tackle options also weren't great.

[00:04:13] So we're not trying to sugarcoat the fact that it was a disappointing performance. We are here to talk mainly about the Broncos game in our World Dub Saturday night. It's a big game for both teams. The Broncos are very desperate, probably last chance saloon, if at all. And Sharks need to win just to keep in finals contentions, push towards the four if they want to be there. And a very winnable game given the teams that are named. Yes, on paper.

[00:04:43] Yeah, on paper. So I don't want people saying, oh, Shinez is taking it lightly. I'm not. I'm just saying that the two teams named on paper head-to-head, we really should be able to win this game. Yeah, we should. And we need to. It's one of those games, you know, we've mentioned it plenty of times. The back end of the year, there's a lot of games that we need to play in a row. And games like this, we need to just win. We need to get those two points and move on to the next one. And on paper, it looks like we can get the job done. But obviously, the Broncos as a club, they've only lost what, eight in a row, three times, four times, something like that.

[00:05:11] So they'll, you know, they'll be up and about. They've got a lot to play for in terms of pride and things like that as a club. So I'm not going to take them lightly at all. And they get a couple of guys back in Shibasaki and Mariner on the wing there. You know, they're not slouches. They know what they can do. They were playing origin last year, Shibasaki. So yeah, Mariner's got a bit of pace. You got to watch those guys. And obviously, you know, you look at their back line, we'll go through it. But there's one clear weakness there. And I think we need to kind of hit that spot.

[00:05:38] So just going to the teams now, Gaz, the Sharks are pretty much as per in the back line. But with our three rep players missing in Blake Braley, AFB and Britton Nickerar, we have at the moment, Tall Tom starting with Jaden Beryl. We think that however might start, but you never know what will happen there. Jesse Goldhorn's prop, Billy Burns, second row.

[00:06:02] And then the bench at the moment is Hoheppa, Oregon Siffer, our mate Big Tuku and Marwini Harati. And actually Harrison Hassett as well has been named, although we think he'll be a jet this week. So I think if there's nothing untoward with the injuries and that kind of thing during game,

[00:06:24] if nothing unplanned happens, I think it'll be Beryl, Kafusi, Talakai and Tuku. Yes, I'm in agreeance. And I don't mind that against the Brisbane Pack that they're coming up against. But let's go to the Broncos. So they're missing a bunch or I think maybe three Bronco, obviously Broncos. They're missing three origin players and some other guys through injury.

[00:06:51] So quite a few players out there. Fullback is Hayes Perum, who I think we know from Parramatta, right? Yeah, he's at the Dogs as well. Hayes Perum, yeah. So he's their fullback. Grant Anderson and Dean Mariner on the wings and Staggs and Shibasaki at the center. So it's not the worst back line. I think ours is better, but it's a stable one. Yeah. Halves are Duffy and Hunt, so very competent there.

[00:07:20] And forward pack is where I think I hope we get them. And so it's Vaas Samuel. I don't know much of his work. Corey Pakes is the hooker. Preston Rickey, front row, back row, Pierre Cura, Jordan Rickey and Xavier Wilson, who's very good, has been named. And their bench is very young and I would say inexperienced.

[00:07:45] So I think that head to head, we can do it, but the fellows are going to turn up and give it their all. And then I think they'll be fine. You know, I think if you pressure the Harbs in Duffy and Hunt, they can make errors. Yes, for sure. I think that the back line is competent. There are some standouts there probably for me in Staggs and Mariner. Mariner's back from a long-term injury.

[00:08:11] And I feel like we can crack that back line, but yeah, it's, it's, they're going to be pretty desperate. They're going to be desperate. That's the thing. And you know, like we look at Derby games, we throw form out the window. This is one of those games where I'm throwing form out the window. Like with the fact that they've lost seven in a row. And as a club, they've only lost eight a few times. They're going to win sometimes. They're going to be playing for a lot, especially in front of their home crowd. I think Tony Staggs with the captaincy next to his name, he's up for a big game. So he's one we've got to shut down. I think being dropped from the blue side, he's going to be up and about.

[00:08:40] And obviously Mariner, as you mentioned, if he gets some space, he's so quick. So yeah, we've got to be on our game. But I think if we can attack the Harbs and, you know, get Duffy kind of a bit unsettled there, him and Hunt, if we're pressuring them, we can, we can get on top of them. So I think it'll be one through the middle, but we saw last week, not last week, we had a bar. Roosters. Yeah, the Roosters game. We kind of got rolled through the middle. Definitely. And the Fahoo White was just killing us. And, you know, we need to make sure that we shore up that middle. Yeah. And as long as they're not getting a roll on, I think we'll be all right.

[00:09:09] Looking at their stats, they're not outstanding in a good way in any capacity, like offloads, nothing to worry about, line breaks, the whole thing. Like even stat wise, we kind of beat them in most categories. So again, if we play to form, we'll be fine. Yeah. I think start, the key is also starting well.

[00:09:31] I think if you start well, if you can keep like a, a 10 point difference between the two teams, whole game, they're not gonna, I don't think have this amazing sort of spirit to come back. Yeah. When you're down, when you're losing seven in a row and you're down your luck, it can snowball even more. Definitely. Obviously it can flip the other way, but there is a tendency just to, and we've seen that in the past few weeks in Brisbane, the effort's been there. They just haven't been able to get it done.

[00:09:59] So we hope that trend continues. Team traveled up on Thursday. Arvo captains run today, Friday into the game, Saturday. We know that there's some Sharks fans traveling up, which will be awesome. There is a gathering. Is there a hotel called? Lord Alfred. Lord Alfred. There it is. I saw that on socials. So it's CWC, Shark Cage. A few of the crew are gonna be up there. So head there.

[00:10:23] And our mate Donnie Rogers is playing a show afterwards at a place called Lefty's, which I believe is a five minute walk from the venue. It's a good venue. So sorry. When I say venue from Suncorp, five minute walk, put it in your little Google maps and he's doing a bit of an after party. So Shark stands are covered. Absolutely. It's really up to the team just to get the win. We sing the song and then you're covered before and after, which is fun. So I'm looking at our team, Gary.

[00:10:53] And I do think if our spine just does their job, I think we win the game. I think it can be one with the spine. Obviously forwards have to go forward for that to happen. They do. It's why they call forwards. Yes. And it didn't happen against the Roosters. It didn't unfortunately. And there was some criticism towards, you know, the return of Nico Hines and as usual, the spine members, Blake wasn't himself the whole thing, but they can only do so much when the forwards aren't doing their thing. So it's up to the guys this week.

[00:11:22] And I don't mind Hazelden starting just to call him. I think we'll have a big game because Roosters game. He was pretty, pretty knocked around. It was unlike him. So Billy Burns for 80 minutes are quite like that. He brings the aggression. And we've seen start well off a by, you know, I don't want to start slow. We haven't played 40 for a week. The Broncos are obviously, you know, as we said up and about and wanting to win this game and they're going to be desperate. So I don't want them to start fast and get a couple of points on the board.

[00:11:52] Yeah, I don't want to be chasing either. No, they're at Suncorp. They'll obviously get a decent crowd. They always do. So yeah, I'm looking like the magic round against. Against the Bulldogs who you are close to now. I think if it's that kind of a game, I'll be super happy because we were dominant. Yeah, we got the points done and it was never really in doubt. That's the that's the game I want to see whether I see it or not. I'm not sure. But yeah, Suncorp we've been we've been good there for the past couple of years.

[00:12:20] We have but against the Broncos. It's always been a bit of a battle and in general, it's been a bit of a battle against the Broncos. So it's certainly not going to be easy. It's never easy when you play the Broncos even in this form they're in. Yeah. And like on paper, we've got them but I don't want to go out there with that attitude. No, no, no. I don't want the guys to go out there and like, you know, a lot was spoken about with Ronnie last week or the week before. Sorry, I keep saying that. You know how he was sort of rattled a bit and was doing his thing, but I don't want any of that this week. I want them to go out and play footy.

[00:12:50] Well, that's going to be interesting to see how he plays because I'm not going to suggest that he owes us one, but he certainly wasn't himself. Yeah, yeah, for sure. From a playing point of view. Yeah. And when you're on top, like you love to see that sort of stuff. But when you're not, it's something you need to rein in a little bit. And I think it didn't get reined in as it should have. And someone might be in his ear this week saying like, let's just go out there and do our thing. And we know what you can do. Just go out there and do it.

[00:13:17] You don't need to get in people's faces and put on a show. Let's just get the two points. He's a smart guy. Like he knows what happened. I think he owns it too. Like a lot of players don't own it and he owns it. And I love that. But I think he knows now how he would maybe handle it next time. And for all I know, it would be the same. What I'm saying is in his mind, he would know what to do, how he's going to do it. And whether we agree with it or not, I'm not sure.

[00:13:44] But he's a guy who's thinking a lot. He's, I would suggest he's a lot smarter than the football persona gives. Whether you've seen him interviewed or had the privilege of hanging out with him or whatever. Like he's got attributes that you may not see on the football field. Yeah. Mentally. Yeah, absolutely. And win or lose in a battle on one-on-one. Like, you know, you're always going to get Ronnie giving 110%. So you can't even fault him for that.

[00:14:14] It's just, yeah. You want him to kind of knock you away some silly penalties and maybe not get into the referee's head where they almost give away penalties against you because of prior. Yeah. Not like the way you speak to them or that sort of thing, but you know what I mean? Repetition. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Was it last year at Suncorp where we lost obviously, did he kind of lose his way a bit in that game? Is that the one I'm thinking of? Rushing off the wing. Yeah. I can't remember.

[00:14:42] I'm thinking of round one against Vegas the year before. I'm always thinking about Vegas. In my mind, I'm still in Vegas. Josh will be again. With you. You're having a good time. What was your highlight of that trip? Well, give us a few. First trip. Hanging out with a lot of Sharks fans at that Tilted Kilt pub was awesome. That was fun. That was fun. Yeah. But yeah, like walking into that stadium, that place is unbelievable. Yeah.

[00:15:07] And just seeing the scale of everything that they do and the sheds and the back areas of that stadium are just next level. Like unbelievable experience. It was fun for the punters to experience the retail side of things and ordering a drink or food or whatever. Like just you basically don't have to get your card out or whatever. And it's just like, yeah, you've paid for it. Love that. Yeah. How much did I pay for that hot dog? It was like $93. Far out. Uh, your highlight wasn't rooming with Skenazzy for a night. That was fun.

[00:15:37] I probably snored a lot cause I was bloody exhausted off the plane. You caught me in a bad time, but we got Shake Shack. That was unreal. We did. That's good. We got Shake Shack every day. Uh, coffee down at that other place. That was good coffee. Yeah. Yeah. No, we did a few good things together. Yeah, we did. I watched you lose all your money on the tables. It's all fun and games in Vegas, isn't it? That was a big night. That was a big night. That was, was that night before? No, it wasn't the night before. Wednesday maybe. Cause I nearly missed the bus the next morning. I slept in.

[00:16:06] We're on our way to training and I'm just getting up, having a shower going, oh, got to get on that bus. Yeah. So anyway, my mind wanders to Vegas sometimes. So, uh, head to head, we have only won 23 games against the Broncos. They've won 41. Uh, and they have had the, the run over us. We have, um, swap wins over the past sort of six or so fixtures. Yeah.

[00:16:36] Some good wins up there recently. Uh, so I'm not too worried about that kind of thing. And I do think that discipline may, may take us a long ways if we can be disciplined and not give away the penalties. Cause I do think that if we didn't conceal those penalties against the Roosters, it would have been super close. Yeah. Just put you on the back foot, right? Like you're just trying to catch up and trying to get field possession, uh, field position. Yeah. And you're just not getting any help from the ref. So you've got to do it yourself.

[00:17:05] Like, yeah, we need to be disciplined in this game and not give them any chances to do anything with the ball. So we're conceding the second most. We're receiving the fewest, but they are conceding the most as well. So they're not angels in that field. So there actually might be a lot of penalties. It could be a stop star game. Yeah. So wait and see on that one. Uh, but as we've said, they've lost seven in a row.

[00:17:34] Uh, they've only lost eight or more three times. And it's, uh, the 13 losses, which is the record came in 2021, which was not a great year for them. Uh, it's the worst losing streak for a premiership winning team in over 70 years. Wow. That's my friends at Fox sports. So they're not in a good way. They're not. And that's when you worry about games like this. It's, they've got to turn it around at some point. They're not going to lose every game from here on out.

[00:18:03] So I think for the sharks, they just need to worry about themselves. I'm not a, I'm not a huge lover of that statement in general. Like when, when, you know, I interviewed the team and they're like, yeah, we're just focusing on ourselves. I'm like, shouldn't you be focusing on like Brian or whatever and how he runs? And you know what I mean? I'm an X's and O's guy. And I'm sure they do. I know that. They definitely are. That's their stock answer. Yeah. We're worried about ourselves. Uh, like Trindle's a big one for that. I think Cameron Kinnis is a big one for that. You don't want to give away anything in a press conference. I appreciate that. I appreciate that.

[00:18:33] But I think this week it's okay to say it because, because we know they're desperate. We know they're going to come out all guns blazing. We know we can see on paper, their strengths. If you target their halves, you're going to do some damage. So therefore it does come back to us and kick pressure and being on top of your game and being disciplined and being connected for Clinton Maynard. So I do think you need to worry more about yourself this week than do a little bit of study obviously, but yeah. Yeah.

[00:19:01] It's one of those games where if we can do things right and do things well, the basics will get on top. Which was the last time we were at, uh, sign a call for magic rounds happened four weeks after that as well. But that game sticks out as a sort of a big, big event, a big venue spotlight on your Saturday night in this case. Um, so yeah, just play well. I'm sure if you play well, you win the game against this mob.

[00:19:29] And they just, I think if they play well and we play well, we still win. Yeah, for sure. I agree. But I think the thing with the magic round game was we just looked hungry. We just looked like we wanted it. Yes. And as long as we can go out there, that's it. Run hard, tackle hard, simple game. So if we can do all that right, I think we'll be fine. But I think Nick will be better for having the game back and then the week off. Yeah. Get the body right again. So I'm expecting a game from him.

[00:19:57] And yeah, I just think the Roosters game was, it was just a bit of a pickle all around, but mainly because of the discipline and their forwards did roll us and their forward pack is very good to be fair. It is. But we need to be better than that. A hundred percent. We just need to get in front of people, put our body on the line a bit more defensively. And I think if we can do that, we stop the roll on, but we didn't do that against the Roosters. Obviously the week off, get the body right. We should be, we should be ready for this one. We should be ready.

[00:20:24] So yeah, I'm expecting to win and win healthily, but I don't want to jinx anything. I would like to win healthily too, but any win will be good enough for me because we're in that period now where you just want to win. It's so congested in the middle of the ladder. Like these games are so important for the back end of the year. And it's 2016 and we're winning by 50 every week. And then we play someone near win by one. And everyone goes, we're no good. It's like, we're still good. We're still one.

[00:20:54] Just got to get the points and move on. And that's where I'm not suggesting we're at 2016 form, but that's where we're at where we just want to win. If it's a great performance, even better. You just need to stack some wins. Yeah. What? Particularly after a loss. Yeah. Well, working at the Bulldogs, we haven't been going too well this year and we're only two points behind the Sharks now. So you've got players in state of origin contention. Yeah. So no comment. I do like the fact that, and it happened with our boy, Tom Hazelton. Yeah.

[00:21:22] I do like the fact that when they push the young guys through to origin experience in training week, it's now been declared that it's also a bi-week. They pick the guys who have the week off. Yes, they do. And they picked Galvin and they picked a few other guys and good luck to them. Absolutely. But, but there is a reason behind it. And I'm glad that it's out there and everyone knows it because a lot of people don't. A lot of people just go, wow, Tom Hazelton must be like close to playing rep footy. It's like, well, no, they've picked him as someone who in the future could potentially do it.

[00:21:52] But also he's not doing anything this week. He's a big body. Yeah. Exactly. But no, it's a good experience for those sorts of guys to get in there. And you know, we saw Blake go and do it a few years back and now he's there. So you never know. Tom Hazelton. Let's go. He wouldn't let you down. He would definitely not let you down. I can hear dogs barking. Excuse the pun. Down to Mr. Paisley's. How was your coffee? Yeah, it was good. I got the recovery smoothie with a double shot. What are you being up to? No, nothing.

[00:22:21] It just keeps me on the mend, keeps me on the up. I got the day off today, which is nice. So Bulldogs have a bye. Our NRLW slides in New Zealand, so I don't have to do too much this weekend, which is good. I get to hang out with you at Mr. Paisley's and talk sharks. That's where else would you rather be? Nowhere. Absolutely nowhere. Nowhere. Except for Vegas. Madison Square Garden watching the Knicks. Your Knicks had a good, good win. It was a great win. I've got to say game, was it game three or four? The big one. That was unbelievable.

[00:22:50] Yeah, like to come back from 20 points down. In fact, I was crazy. You know what? I was in this very spot. No. So I walked in and the game had started and the Knicks were down in the first quarter. And I was here with your mate, Rich Ossington actually. Oh yes. And he appeared on the episode. Yeah, I listened to that one. And he was like, Jersey's, Jersey's, Jersey's, Jersey's, Jersey's, Jersey's. And that's just a joke, Rich. And then we kept an eye on the score. Yeah.

[00:23:19] Because he's a big fan of sport. Yes. And I was like, oh, it's not looking good. And then I left at three quarter time. And I said to him, I'm scared to look man. And he goes, no, have a look. And it was like, was it 20 points? Yeah, they were down by like. But it was looking good because it was already like 50 or whatever. They were just like coming back slowly. Yeah. And they got to halfway through the fourth quarter. So I got home to watch the start of the quarter. So good. The last quarter.

[00:23:47] And then I was like, oh, this is, there's something here. And obviously with the coverage, they kept showing all the fans and the fans happened to be every A-list actor, musician, politician, whatever. And so it was fun. So good. And so the thing that stood out for me was the moment you'd be able to tell me maybe what happened. Something happened and they showed the badass lady from NCIS who I love, Mariska.

[00:24:17] Yeah, that's her. With Taylor Swift hugging and dancing. And she was so out of control. I think it's a meme of it. Her hair was like going side to side. It was just happiness. I was like. That was the best. What's going on? It was unbelievable. Like to come back from that amount of points down. Like they didn't lead the game until halfway through the fourth quarter. Yeah. And just some amazing moments in that last quarter.

[00:24:41] There's some stupid stat that's like for 75% of the playoff series, the Knicks were behind and they still won the championship. Yeah. It was an unreal run. They just never gave up. Never say die. It's one of them long drought breaking seasons. Seeing our boy Larry David. And also Jerry to an extent, but Larry David just in Larry David moment going. Oh no! You sent me a photo of that or a gift or something. It was unreal. I don't know. It was just, yeah, a really great sporting moment.

[00:25:10] So I'm very happy for you. Thank you so much. I hope one day I can experience that joy again in my life. I've only experienced it once. If I take Liverpool out of it, I've experienced even they've been. Well, that's what it felt like a Sharks 2016 moment because I've been supporting the Knicks for a long time and they've let me down. Yeah. Many times. But we got there. We got there. Yeah. They have been battling for a while. But a very famous club in a very, it's a shame they didn't get the win at the Garden. I know. I know. But that's okay. But still, I'll take the wins wherever you get them. Yes.

[00:25:40] Just like this Saturday night at Suncorp. Saturday night. Do you want to have a bit of a prediction? Sharks? Yeah. 24. Mm-hmm. Broncos, six. I feel like 24 is a good number for us at Suncorp for wins. It's always sort of 24, 28, 32. I think that's realistic. I just don't think the Broncos will score many points. I don't think they'll get the role on if I'm being honest. But I'm also very worried about the gap. No.

[00:26:07] I'm going to say Sharks, 26, Broncos, maybe 16. They're going to get a few tries, unfortunately. No. But I don't think it'll be, I think we'll be okay. I think we'll be okay. Yeah. I know we'll be okay. Love that positivity. And you've got a standout player? Whether it's realistic or not. You know what? I'm going to say Kaleiro is going to have a big game. Ooh. Yeah. So, breaking all kayfabe, look up what kayfabe means.

[00:26:39] I did some player interviews this week. Yes. KL, Trindle, Colquhoun, and someone else. Tools. Four interviews. How many interviews do you reckon I've done in 12 years? In 12 years? Yeah. And you do like- Let's say player interviews, not like other interviews. Well, you're down there most weeks. Yeah. I'm not. Well, what- Two on average.

[00:27:08] Yeah. So, that's at least 50 a year. Over 12. So, what's that? Is that a thousand? Over a thousand? Have you got a number? Have you counted them? No. You don't know. You'd be up over a thousand easily. Sure. Surely. So, this week when I was interviewing the four gentlemen, you know, checking my levels and everything. I'm a little recorder. I'm always pretty careful with that sort of stuff. Um, and it's actually this little guy here, this recorder here.

[00:27:35] I probably won't pick it up to the audience, but basically for people who don't know tech, and it's not that hard to understand, but people who don't know tech, I've got two microphones going in here for you and I. Yes. So, you're mic two on mic one. I can keep it on the levels. When I interview the players, it's just one channel. There's an inbuilt microphone that attach, an attachment that goes on this machine. I hold them up and we just talk. And it goes in a channel called left and right stereo.

[00:28:03] When I was interviewing these guys this week, as people know, because they haven't heard the interviews, I was on channel one. Oh. So I could, I could see levels, but the audio was picking it up in channel one, but I had the left and right microphone on instead. So basically I was recording dead air. We got nothing. Great chats. We got nothing baby. That's a one off. Don't worry. It won't happen again.

[00:28:33] Uh, I'm very professional. If anyone's thinking of hiring me for anything in the near future. Everyone's done that before. Don't worry. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I jumped onto one of the user groups for this particular machine and I was like, and they're super nerdy and like no stuff about this machine that I didn't. Yeah. That's why I'm on there. I was like, Hey guys, like don't laugh, but I think I know the answer, but is there any way of retrieving this? Is there? Cause I thought, Oh, maybe it's just on there and I need to get it from somewhere else. Yeah.

[00:29:01] Like on the hard drive or whatever, raw data. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, cool. And then someone else went, no, no, there's definitely nothing there. That guy sounds more like what he's talking about. And someone else came in and went, yeah, buddy, it's gone. It's like you knew, but you just needed that confirmation. But then this really nice person jumped on and I went, Hey Sam, they tagged me. Hey Sam, don't let this get you down. It happens to everyone.

[00:29:31] It happens to everyone. I've done it plenty of times. I've gone down to shoot something. I have an SD card in the camera. It's got Max wearing. It has. Yes. Big shoot. Not good, but it happens. Yeah. You move on. But now next week I'll be like triple checking. Absolutely. You'll never make that mistake again this year. I don't think so. Is that the first time you made that mistake in general? Or has it happened before? The first time I think with that, I have accidentally deleted things. Like a long time ago, I think I was interviewing the players and I just hit the wrong button.

[00:30:01] I didn't really know what I was doing. I was a new machine. I think I deleted it and I was like, Oh, that's not good. But it was cool because we had Trindle. We were talking Netflix. Yeah. Nice. What's he watching? Trindle's very in and out. He's like, yeah, like he loves talking to people. Yeah. Like he's a friendly guy. Yeah, for sure. But he's like all business. He's all business. Yeah. He's always, you know, got to get his lunch or whatever. On the next one. Yeah. But I cracked him. I was like, how'd you spend your buy?

[00:30:30] And he said, I said, you go away. He goes, no, he goes, a bit of a homebody. I just watched a lot of Netflix. And I was like, well, we're not going to leave it there. What are you watching? The sad thing is I can't remember what he was watching. There were shows I weren't really across. Wasn't Sky King? No, it wasn't Sky King. We'll get to that. But then with KL, which is why I brought this up, KL was like, yeah, I love playing at Suncorp. It really brings out the best of me. I was like, oh, that's good. That's really good. There you go. And we had a great chat about my ex-boyfriend, Valentine Holmes.

[00:30:59] Because I said to him, just straight up, I said, I saw you guys getting a photo after the Drakens game. He's like, yeah, yeah. He's my brother. We're from Cook Islands. I was like, for years we've been waiting for this photo. And I finally saw you take it and I saw the result. Beautiful thing. And he's just looking at me. And I went, oh, I'm a huge Valentine Holmes guy. And he goes, oh, yeah, he's really good. And I went, no, no. He's like one of my all-time furrow players. And we talked about Val.

[00:31:28] And then he was saying how their families are from a very close island in the Cook Islands. Because I basically said something pretty rude. Like you guys just look the same or whatever. And he goes, yeah, yeah. We're like our families are from a really. So they are close. Yeah. Okay. And so Cook Islands experience from football. And so they're good bros. That's awesome. And then Rob Willis told us a good Valentine home story about golf. But we won't talk about that. Both really good dudes too. Yeah.

[00:31:59] Sclacking, man. I've talked about it on the pod. People are sick of me talking about it, which is fine. I've got to watch it. In my YouTube thing now, it's all just that guy. Because I looked up one thing and it's just, you know, it just. The algorithm takes over. Oh, I'm getting a bit obsessed. I've got to stop actually. Yeah. Good documentary. The sun comes across. How good is it? I don't really do sun. I don't know how I look in the sun. Yeah. Good documentary. I might have to give you my Disney app or whatever. I think I've got it. I just need to get it sorted on the TV. Yeah.

[00:32:29] And I don't think it's one Becker watch. She doesn't like those kind of, not depressing, but like sad story type stuff. I would say it's more sad than depressing. But see, like I'm the type of guy that sits up at midnight watching like crime thrillers and murder shows and all this stuff. What's different to that? I can't watch that. I'm not watching any of this depressing stuff. I respect that. I respect that. I find it like real interesting. I mean, I find the human side of. I'm talking about all documentaries though. I don't watch any like shows. I want to hear true stories.

[00:32:59] Right. Right. This is pretty messed up. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It sounds. There's moments of like really, not inspiration, but moments of hope, moments of, of really beautiful. Bright spots within the narrative. Kind of. But then the bright spots, you kind of go, actually, it's kind of sad. What's happening? No. I've got to watch it. It's really good. I've got to watch it. And the way they did it. So it's not so much like the story is everything, right? The story makes it.

[00:33:28] The guy's journey and everything, like it's unbelievable. But the way they did it is really cool. Yeah. Okay. So if it was a crap way of shooting it and telling it, I'd be like, Oh, whatever. Yeah. Guy flew a plane. But yeah, the whole thing I found quite, quite moving is what I would say. All right. And just the fact that it happened was just like, Oh, yeah. Like to not have ever stepped into a pilot. I don't believe he had. I don't believe he had. I don't believe he had. There was some audio where he's like, I've played video games. I kind of know what I'm doing. It's a sim guy. Okay. Yeah.

[00:33:59] Yeah. Chester's just got under the simulators and stuff. He's really in a planes. Maybe there's some bit of that. I don't know, but I still find it very hard to fathom that one can do that. Yes. It's crazy. Cause he actually, he, he got it going. He didn't just get it. He barrel rolls it. Doesn't he? That's more than that. That's more than gone. I'm not going to respond to other episodes, but when he does that and the footage and the

[00:34:24] vision and then, and then, and that's when the hope kicks in and you're like, wow, I need the result anyway. Yeah. But you're thinking, Oh, it could have been okay. But yeah. Yeah. Definitely watch it. And if you hate it, I apologize, but if everyone listening, watching hates it, I apologize, but no, I'm going to watch it. I'm the sort of person that when I, when I discover something, watch something I want to pass it. You like to share. I like to share it. That's good. Yeah. Just like your love for the sharks. I like to share it.

[00:34:54] Yeah. My love for the sharks is a, is a thing. Just a thing. I can't shake it. I love it. I won't shake it. I was, I was telling, I think it was Rob Willis last night. I was like, I was like 12 years doing this, obviously a lifetime of watching. Um, and he sort of smiled. He's like, yeah, I've been here for the 12 years. Like I know you have been Robby and longer than me as well.

[00:35:20] But, but we were sort of like talking about how, like, you know, people come and go and, um, you know, people work for the club and they don't in all seriousness and, and players come and go obviously, but the club's just there and you know, touch wood to all the naysayers. But, but yeah, you, you, you don't shake it. You don't, you can't. Some people, some people can and have, but I, I personally, I just, I had that feeling like I will, and I don't want to, I'm not looking to, I'm not looking to. Where are you going with this? I don't know.

[00:35:50] I'm just saying like, it's one of those things where it's just like, it's kind of, it gets stronger every year to be honest. That's awesome. Yeah. That's good. Yeah. And I love listening to all the episodes as well. People have tried to stop me before. I don't know. Yeah. They'll never stop me. Damn it. They'll never stop me. I love it. The longer Gaz and Shanaz episode time. Feels good. Thank you. Gas rules the day off. Yes, absolutely. All right. So we're thinking. 24, six by a bit.

[00:36:22] And then what do we do after that? Where do we go? Do we know? Yeah. Yeah. Dolphins. Yes. And then nights at home after that. So it's not easy. Not easy at all. Tough little run. And that's why you got to bank up these ones where you can win. Realistically. Absolutely. Not to say you can't beat the dolphins. They're missing Katoa. We'll have our players back. They might rest some guys. They've rested, I think, origin players in the past. We'll see. What day is that game? It's a Saturday, three o'clock. So you think someone might play? They might.

[00:36:52] We'll see. Depends. Depends. Depends how orange it goes, right? Yeah. Exactly. And then we have, yeah, the Friday turnaround after that. Nights at home early game. And that's going to be difficult. Usually we walk into our nights games with our party hats on and blowing streamers. I'm as guilty as anyway. Different time this year. Different time this year. We have to disclose that, you know, because everyone loves Mr. Paisley's. One of your fellow employees was here this morning. He was.

[00:37:17] Someone who I have openly fascinated about, Mr. Adam O'Brien in the flesh. Yes. In the flesh. And Mr. Paisley's. Who doesn't come here? It's the real question. I feel like we see everyone in the football circle. There is a bit of a dog thing happening at the moment here. There's a lot of dogs in the Shire. There's not taking over the shark. A lot of players around here. The shark side of things. But yeah, top dog now actually. Top dog. Yes.

[00:37:44] Did you hear or see on the social media the voicemail I put up from Ted? I did. I did. It was cool. What about that? It made me want to leave a voicemail. What about that? Oh yeah. But he was saying how he made his wife and family come to Mr. Paisley's. So good. He was traveling to the Super Coast. No, we're going. Went to the Sharks game. And the next morning went to the beach. That's the best. And the wife's like, we're going home now. And he's like, no, we're going to Mr. Paisley's. Yeah, absolutely not. We are going to Mr. Paisley's. What's it, Mr. Paisley? No, you'll find out. Sounds like he enjoyed it though. AJ was here. How many times is that bloke here when we're here? Mate. Score and try.

[00:38:14] The morning of the record breaking day. That's all he does. Something in the coffee. When he got his last hat trick, which I believe was two or three weeks ago, he legitimately called it the morning to the staff. Really? I mean, he's a quiet, shy guy. I'm on today. Yeah, he's a quiet, shy guy. But someone went, game day, guys. Yep, we're on. Love it. And then I think someone went, what does that mean? And I think he just went. Was that the Jai Arrow white jersey game? Maybe. I feel like that's why. Maybe, yeah. Yeah. That was an emotional game, that one.

[00:38:44] Haggard's the helping of Jai Arrow. Jai July. Jai July, yeah. It's awesome. It's awesome. It's good to see the rugby league community. They always get behind their own and no matter what the circumstances, they lift and do their part. Yeah. Very sad story, but Jai July, here we go. A few arrows last night in the NRLW as well. Oh, yeah, yeah. It's cool. We've started, yeah, of course.

[00:39:09] In a public format, the public side of Jai, G's handling it well. Absolutely. Holy cow. Yeah, crazy. What a warrior. The mental space that that man must be in is unbelievable. Yeah. And to handle it the way he's handling it is inspiring. My God. So we should all definitely help where possible. Yes. What's going on with your phone case? You need a different case. Have you got a case on there? Four kids. Four kids. That's what happens. Cracks. All sorts of things. With a case. With a case.

[00:39:38] I get real frustrated when I see phones that have lots of damage. I can cop a little mark here or there. A four and a seven year old boy in the household. But how does it break the case? They just throw it around. The other one case. The other one case. Well, here's the thing. It's only the case and the glass that's broken. So really. Wait. The screen's not broken? The screen's not broken. That's just a cover on top of the screen. So that screen is just broken but the cover's broken. I could peel that off right now. Well, then I've got no complaints. We're all good. We're all good.

[00:40:06] And I've just learnt to put up with the million cracks on it because I know if I put a fresh shot on within two days, it's going to be cracked again. That's fine. That's fine. What about the people who don't have cases on their iPhone? So I'm talking iPhones only because that's all I kind of know. Good friend of the show, Liam Rennie. Yeah. Done by Liam. Yeah. Does not have a case or a screen protector or anything on his iPhone. That guy's the Sky King. He's living on the edge. He's going to double barrel. I don't understand. I've got a guy at work, Rob Fazio, who does that. How? Why?

[00:40:37] He handles it not like a baby but he handles it well. It stresses me out. So if I'm like, he's sort of like this. Okay. But I'll buy you one, dude. Just put a case on it. And so this is a guy, my guy waited years and years and years till he had to get a new phone. So basically, like we had, you know, apps that you need to work, right? Yeah. And he couldn't get them because his phone was so old and that was his excuse.

[00:41:06] Maybe it's a story to millions of people. And we're like, come on, man. You need, you know, for work. He's like, well, they can't make me, you know, like, they're not going to buy you one, dude. Still playing snake on the Nokia 5210. Yeah. And then finally he gets one. Hey, we're having a party. Rob's got a new phone. First thing I'm like, where's the case? I don't use cases. Oh, excuse me. So you had a pristine new iPhone. You paid a lot of money for it. You're finally there. You got all the apps you want. Put a case on it, man. Get a case.

[00:41:35] He's like, no, I don't need a case. I might check on him tonight because I think he's still going pretty strong. Has Liam got some cracks or anything? No, he doesn't. I don't understand it. So maybe it's just difference between guys like them and guys like us. Oh, man. It's stressing me out. Like he'll just pull it out at lunch. I'm just like, whoa, go easy. And they hold it differently, right? They do. They do. It's like a little child or yeah, there's something in their hands that just- So they know. Maybe they value it more. Yeah. Maybe. Maybe.

[00:42:04] And then you get a new phone. It's like, I'll look after you, baby. Don't worry about it. Two weeks later. All right. Sharkast podcast and shenanigans. We're back. We're back, baby. Come down to Miss Paisley's. It's a great place to be. You might see AJ Johnson and some other people. We'll talk to you all real soon. Thanks for listening. If you're listening, hopefully you've, you can visualize what's been going on down here. Hopefully they've made it this far. Sure they have. Everyone gets to the end.

[00:42:35] I've got stats on that kind of thing. I've got stats on everything with the podcast and a lot, you know, the majority of people do go that far. You can, there's a couple here or there, but you got a good listener base. I can see names as well. And now, Mick from Miranda. No, I can't see names to be fair. So don't worry about that, but I can see numbers and that kind of thing. And, and, and yeah, the drop-off's not too bad. That's good. Yeah. Otherwise we just do two minute podcasts. Where does it drop off on Kieran alien episodes?

[00:43:04] Strangely, it mostly peaks peaks on the alien. Yeah. A lot of good feedback about Kieran, which is bad news. Cause it'll go to his head and he'll want to do episodes about it. There was a fellow on, I think Dennis on YouTube chat, Dennis, who wasn't a fan of it. And I completely respect that. So we'll try and manage it as best we can. Certainly can't filter him too much, but I love it. It started just outside here, the table just outside where I'm pointing to you. Yes. Can't really see where I'm going there.

[00:43:32] Uh, Kieran and I met on a blind date pretty much. And, and we got on great. We connected. So we'd meet like, it was right during before, after COVID where, you know, you couldn't do much. And maybe the cafes had just opened up again. So there was some sort of story. And so we started hanging out and I think we'd meet most Mondays and just catch up and chat and talk about this basically. And that's how it was born. And I said to him and he's a huge sign for guys, I said, this is the show. And he was like, ah, yeah.

[00:44:01] And then I think I waited until the season kicked off, whatever year it was. And I went, oh, let's do our show. He's like, what are you talking about? Catching up with Kieran over coffee. Yeah. And I was like, he's like, I can't do a show. I said, that's the show every Monday. That's the show. We're just going to do it here or online or whatever, wherever. And that's how it kicked off. So when we don't stick to Cronulla sharks a hundred percent, that's why. Because when we meet here, it's a coffee shop chat. It's a coffee shop chat. I like it.

[00:44:29] Coffee, UFOs, the whole thing. We're going to, I'm not a UFO guy, really. I'm happy to turn that down. Sounds like you are. Nah. I do not believe much. Do you believe? I think Kieran does. I don't know. I don't know what to believe in. Yeah. Kieran definitely believes. I don't know. I'll have a thing about it and I'll come back next preview show and we'll talk about it. Sure. Dennis will love that. Sorry, Dennis. All right. We'll talk to you all soon. Up, up, Cronulla. Let's go win on Saturday.

[00:44:57] That'd be a great help to everyone if we won on Saturday. Absolutely. All right. Everyone go on up and enjoy. Tag us in your photos and we'll talk to you soon. Up, up, Cronulla. Let's go. I'm just going to lean over. This is what the of the précédent. We see. Wolf? That's a good show.
