[00:00:53] Hey there, welcome to SharkCast Friday, a podcast dedicated to the greatest sporting club in the history of the world, the mighty Cronulla Sutherland Sharks. We're here for a very short, sharp preview, extremely short due to the timing nature of things. And we do have an update on the winner of our Dolphins tickets, so we're not going to keep you waiting too long on that one. Just letting you know that we're brought to you by Dysons Logistics, the Royal Motor Yacht Club and Port Hacking, and Jason Hawes at Cripps & Cripps Real Estate. On the other end of this line is NWO for life, Kieran Fraser.

[00:01:24] And he is largely responsible for why we have some tickets to give away. Hey, Kieran, how are you on this Friday afternoon, this doomy and gloomy Friday afternoon? This has been the longest day of my life. Like, I had stuff on at 9 o'clock at Miranda, and I was there. And now I've driven out to Manly and came back, and it's not even 4 o'clock. Like, I don't understand where time's gone today, but happy 30th anniversary of the NWO, mate.

[00:01:52] Yeah, the longest day of your life, it sounds like a Bright Eyes song or something. Well, it's the first day of my life. And I forgot the rest of the words to that song because I'm a little bit frazzled, mate. It's been one of those days. I think I was blind before I met you. Well, yeah, you were. And I was blind before I met you too, my friend. All right. So, without further ado, because we don't want to be the jerks that make people watch the whole show, just to see what person wins tickets. We had a great response, Kieran.

[00:02:20] A number of people jumped onto our YouTube subscription, which we appreciate, which is free, and you can still do it anytime you like. And we will try and do more of this from time to time, to do with all sorts of manners of the pod, not just YouTube, because, you know, we're not really just about that. But we'd like to congratulate. At Chris Simmons 2560. At Chris Simons 2560. I hope I'm pronouncing that right. Chris, this is what you need to do. You need to get in touch with me via email, because I can't seem to message you any other way. SharkCastPod@gmail.com.

[00:02:51] SharkCastPod@gmail.com. Get in touch with me as soon as you can. Say, hey, it's Chris. I'm cool to go to the game. Send me the tickets. And I will do so. If for some reason you can't go, things have changed, whatever, you need to let me know. If I don't hear from you within a certain time, and I'm talking more than a minute, but less than a day, I will need to move them on to someone else. And we do have a backup plan there. Not going to say who it is because I don't give false hopes.

[00:03:19] We did randomize this draw, Kieran. I know you and a few other people recommend that I film it for legal reasons, but of course I didn't. But I did randomize it through the internet and put all the names in a bunch of names. And Chris was a lucky person. At Chris Simmons 2560. So we hope you have an awesome time, but you do need to get in touch with us so we can get them to you. Sharkcarspot at gmail.com. Thank you very much for that. Kieran, we're going to KO Stadium tomorrow.

[00:03:48] Less than 24 hours now I think about it. Holy cow. Yeah. There are team changes. Are you up to date with the team changes? No, this is all fresh to me, mate. Hit me. Ooh. All right. The good news. Blake Braley listed now to start. The good news. Adan Fanua Blake, one of your personal favorites. Photographed in Las Vegas, the two of you hanging out.

[00:04:16] He is listed to start at prop in 23. Blake will be in 22. Billy Burns has been named and stays named to start in second row because Britton Nikera didn't make the cut due to not so much injury reasons, but more fatigue. He made 50 tackles. There might've been a HIA thing in there, but he'll be good to go next week. I believe, but no Britton this week confirmed.

[00:04:45] No Britton. Now the other big news, which you're not going to like, and it's only minor. It's only minor, but the future of this forward pack, Jesse Colquhoun will not be playing. He has, I believe a knee complaint. It's not major. They expect me back as soon as next week. But Jesse Colquhoun is out, dude. And Tom Hazleton is starting.

[00:05:15] So your pack is Hazleton, Braley, Fanua Blake, Burns, Wilton McInnes. And your bench is Hoheppa, Siffa, Oregon playing his 150th game. Big Tuku and then some smaller bodies in Marwini and Nephi. The reserve is Jaden Beryl.

[00:05:34] So you could probably expect if things go as to plan, your bench will be Hoheppa, Siffa, Oregon, and Big Tuku making a second week in a row appearance. What are your thoughts on all that? I know I've blown your mind there. Well, I mean, no Colquhoun is a big loss. It's not something that I anticipated because I didn't realize he was under any sort of injury cloud. So that's a huge blow. He's been absolutely on fire the last two weeks.

[00:06:01] However, I did think Hazleton had a really good game last week as well. So this is a really good chance for him to put his name forward and show what he can do. I do think Jesse has locked down that other starting front row spot that we've often talked about. We need to find that player, that extra front rower. But it just goes to show the depth in middles. Like there's no Toby. There's no Ueli. Now there's no Colquhoun. And we can still bring in a guy like Tuku who a lot of people have been calling for to get more of an opportunity in the first place anyway.

[00:06:30] So I feel comfortable with the players coming in. I think it's going to be interesting if we do have Hohepper playing. I think that will be kind of one of those ones where he'll be the last interchange that they use just to see how the game plays out, how Braley's feeling. But he offers a lot of versatility. Or he could be the guy that comes on third and Tuku's the fourth guy. I think it would more be a, well, so who are the other players that are the options that they can pick from? So I want Hohepper to play. Don't get me wrong.

[00:07:00] Yeah, that's Hohepper, Talakai, Kifusi and Oregon are the big guys. Tuku. So it's Kifusi and Oregon. Yeah. So I would say that Sifu is an absolute lock. Kifusi is an absolute lock. Yeah. I would assume given the fact that Colhoun's out, Tuku would be a lock. So then I think the last position is going to come down to Hohepper, Beryl and Hiradi. And logically, I would go Hohepper for that role. The fact that he could play 13.

[00:07:30] It just means you are going to really jam that front row because you're going to have McInnes and Hohepper rotating ideally at 13. Braley didn't play a lot of minutes in Oregon and I didn't think he was going to tax stuff. So I think he can get through the 80. Like he's a superhuman. Fanua Blake's probably going to need more of that, you know, change in resting because he had a blinder off the bench.

[00:07:51] And if we get a performance like that out of him and seeing how happy he was after the game and seeing him smile like that, like, I really think he can take a lot out of that stint that he had to win the game. So, and that's why I think you're going to see more of the bigger bodies just to give him a bit more of a rest because the Dolphins are a really physical pack as well. Now on the Dolphins side of things. Now I can't see, I can't see the hammer listed. I don't know if he was originally listed.

[00:08:22] So they got Trey Fuller, my man, Asako, Avarillo. Unfortunately, Herbie's still there. Tevita Nafu is there. So we know Bostock's not playing. Harves are still listed as Nickarima and Schneider. Forward pack remains the same, although the reserve is Thomas Flegler. So Max Plath and Thomas Flegler. Max Plath's on the interchange. Thomas Flegler's the reserve.

[00:08:51] So I would think they might want to use him if he's fresh, but they look to be missing the hammer. Does that seem weird to you? It does, but he put a lot of Ks on those legs a few days ago and it's a long season. And I don't know if there are injury concerns for them long term with him, but I think they probably look at this as an opportunity to give him a bit of a rest. And the players that they've got there are pretty handy too. So... Yeah, it's a good team.

[00:09:19] I think the only issue for them is no Katoa. But Schneider's, he's had a couple of games where he's looked like an absolute first grader who just needs an opportunity. So Nickarima's been on fire for them as well. Yeah. They're a really good team. It's a very important game in terms of the ladder and where teams are going to finish up. But I feel like people are underestimating Cody Nickarima. He leads a break assist and he's tri-assisted pretty high up or vice versa. Schneider's competent. He came from the penance system like he's competent.

[00:09:49] I'm not unhappy he's playing, but I'm also not disrespecting him. Like the guy can play footy. But I don't mind our chances now with two or three guys backing up. We've got Will Kennedy, 150 games. We've got Orican Kofusi, 150 games. They're milestone games. I don't listen to the people who say we can't win milestone games. You're either going to win or you lose. I feel like we're going to win, but it's going to help. Team morale's high. They've traveled up. There was a meet and greet last night.

[00:10:18] They've done their 150 celebrating for the two players with family and friends. So there's every reason to win. Most importantly, go past the Dolphins and stay in touch with the top four, get closer to it, and just keep edging away. I can't believe it. We're on the home run stretch here. And we've got to win it, man. Like no matter what. And it's a good team we've got. Like I'm looking at our team listed. It's a pretty good team. Like we're missing some guys. Missing Colhoun.

[00:10:48] I get it. But you're bringing in Billy Burns for Britton Nikara in theory. Your bench has got the likes of Talakai, Hohepa, who we all love. Oregon, who some of us love, some sort of don't appreciate, but that's fine. And the potential that Tsukou has is enormous. So I don't mind our chances the closer we get, man. It's really going to, for me, come down to the middle.

[00:11:15] If you look at what they've got, they've got Kofusi, Molo, Knolls, and then off the bench have Flegler, Gilbert, Plath, and Donahue. Yeah. Like that's just a pack of dogs. Like that is a pack that's going to come and hunt for you. And they're all different body shapes. Whereas we have a pack that's going to be Vanilla Blake, Haldenton, Tuku, which are predominantly really large. We mix it up with Siffer in the middle as well, and Ken McInnis, Hohepa. So this is going to be a fascinating battle for me in the middle.

[00:11:44] I think that's where this game is going to be won. I think we've got the edge in the back line. I think we've got the edge in the halves. I think I like our forward pack, but we are missing Toby. We are missing Colquhoun. And I think it's really going to come down to that middle battle because that Dolphins bench, I always talk about, I think we've got the best bench in the comp, but a bench of Flegler, Gilbert, Plath and Donahue. Like that's a pretty good bench. Like if we're not number one, that's number one.

[00:12:11] Or if they're number two and we're number one, if we're fully fit. So I think it's going to be a fascinating battle of how we get the players out in the field, especially with Vanilla Blake. Like how long is he going to be able to be in a dogfight against some of these guys, given that he played only two days before or three days, whatever the case is. So I think that's going to be really interesting. But I think there's a lot of opportunity there with Blake Braley and that pack that they've got because they put a lot into their defense and they really hit and stick.

[00:12:41] So if they can't be the full 80 minutes of fitness, Blake's going to find a lot of opportunities at the back ends of both halves. And so will someone like Hohepper as well, if he's playing 13 or nine. So it's a really fascinating battle. I would have liked if Farnworth wasn't there, to be honest with you, but you can't have everything. His numbers are crazy. Go look them up, but they're crazy. And we need to shut down his offloads. He and I think it's Trey Fuller have amazing tackle bus.

[00:13:10] A star co is just a dead set superstar. He's going to win a comp in the next few years, either a Dolphins or a Storm. But yeah, it's a challenge. But I like it. I like our chances a bit like the last few games. The closer I get to it, the more I like our chances in realistic terms. And just got to turn up and play. Got to complete well. You got to do the boring stuff, man. If you don't do the boring stuff against the Dolphins. Who do it really well. I think you can kind of forget about it.

[00:13:40] But if we're not in the hunt at the 60th minute mark and the stats are awful, I'd probably don't get your hopes up. Even before that, maybe. But having said that, we do have the second best completion rate in the NRL. I know it shocks people. We got the second best completion rate. We missed the second fewest tackles. There's a lot going for this club that people don't talk about. And I think we can do it. Same routine as last week, which I love. I actually love that.

[00:14:07] It's not sort of like, you know, days apart going to a different state. They'll probably stay at the same hotel. I'm not sure about that. You have to confirm that. But they're flying in and out the same kind of period and same kind of training days. I'm led to believe training has been good this week. So I don't mind that if we have to do the travel. At least it's kind of consistent the last week. Bit of a routine. Yeah. And I know that they did the meet and greet last night.

[00:14:35] And it was a change because there was supposed to be a training session today. But I wanted to give the club a shout out because they sent out an email apologizing about it and letting everybody know. And then they also followed up with a phone call. So originally I was supposed to be at the training session today. But obviously I got the phone call and it was canceled. So I thought the club did a really good job of handling that. I know there are some disgruntled people on Facebook and things like that. I don't know if they registered those people, but I definitely did register. And I got a phone call notification to make sure I was aware of the changes.

[00:15:03] So good job for the Sharks on that. I know that their membership team gets hammered from pillar letter post by fans. It's a, I'll say this is a tough job. It's a mostly thankless job. I'm not saying that excuses some things that happen in, in all clubs. Like, you know, if I was running a football club, I would do things where the members were the, I would dare say the priority.

[00:15:28] And, you know, I would really amp things up in a lot of ways, but I don't think this club can really do it at this moment. And I know they're doing the best they can. And I know that I, I know a few of the people behind the scenes, the membership, not too many these days, but a few of them. And they're good people and they care about the club. So, so it is, it is tough sometimes to see the things written about membership. But having said that, it's not a perfectly run system, unfortunately, but that is good to hear Kieran that they had good, good correspondence with you.

[00:15:53] So hopefully a bunch of people got out to see them and meet their heroes and, and wish them well for tomorrow or depending when you're hearing this, but for the game against the Dolphins. So Kieran, just repeating our lucky winner is Chris Simmons. That's double M Simmons two, five, six. Oh, on. That's where he's on the YouTube. Not sure. I've looked in one of other places. I can't message him, but he can get in touch with us. Sharkhousepod.gmail.com is the easiest way. If you find some other way to get in touch with me, then please do it.

[00:16:23] But I don't want to confuse you with too many things. So sharkhousepod.gmail.com and we'll get tickets out to you. And if you can't make it or we don't hear from you, we're moving on. So don't leave it too long. I'm not going to put a time limit on it, but we'll just be realistic about it. And thanks to everyone else who entered. And if there's a very small chance I get in touch with someone else, I won't say who it is. You better be ready because otherwise the third person is going to be up. So I'm sure Chris will be in touch though. He seemed pretty keen and congrats to him. Random draw.

[00:16:53] We should probably do more stuff like this, Kieran. We have access to things. It might not be as spectacular as two tickets to a sold out game, but we'll try and be a bit better like that. Sometimes there are spare seats with us, right? Or sometimes you can even take the seat that I have, right? So I can go sit somewhere else. Let's not get crazy. There's plenty of things that we can do. And there's different things with merch and all sorts of stuff. And I think, I just want to say thank you to everybody that commented. I think there was like 29 comments or something like that, which was absolutely phenomenal. Usually we get like three or four. So the fact that...

[00:17:22] There's more throughout other episodes and other platforms. It's like a lot. Perfect. Perfect. So, I mean, that's awesome that everybody jumped on. I did notice that the YouTube subscribers jumped as well. So that always helps the channel. So really appreciate everybody taking the time to enter and wish we could have given everybody a ticket, to be honest with you, because it would be great to see as many Sharks fans there as possible. I would love that as well. All right. We're going to love you and leave you. Thanks for jumping on, Kieran. And everyone else will talk to you soon. There will be a post-game show at some point. I imagine it'll be after the game. See how we're going.

[00:17:52] But stay tuned to our channels. The socials will get you in touch with that kind of thing. But we're around, you know that. I popped up a review of last night's NRLW game. Kieran, don't know if you saw the game, but it was a vast improvement. Vast improvement. Oh, there were so many chances. It was so close. I thought they were going to do it. And it was one of those things where I was like, ah. It was extremely Cronulla-like performance. But a lot of really good signs there for them if they can put it together.

[00:18:21] They've come up against two of the better teams. So, it's promising signs. I think we get the W against the Dogs. I'm not putting shade on the Dogs. But they're one of the lesser glamorous teams. Get the win going. Get your year going. And I think we'll be on our way. But it was a much improved performance, I have to say. And I was happy to see that. That was what was needed. We'll talk to you all soon. Just remember when you're SharkCastPod. You're SharkCastPod for life.
