[00:00:02] Hey there, just a heads up on this episode. We are going to get through a whole bunch of your mail from the past week The heads up is the fact that this episode was recorded about 24 hours ago and
[00:00:14] There's been mail that's come in since the player awards and just in general some mail that you won't hear on this episode But we'll get to it in the coming week and hope you enjoy the episode
[00:00:25] There's a whole lot of chronal sharks talk coming up. Thanks on with the show Yes! Come back in the shower Tell you what, slide down, put your cup of tea with a trophy
[00:01:03] Welcome back to SharkCast pod brought to you by Dyson Logistics the Royal Modyo Club in port hacking and Jason Hawes at Crips and Crips Rural Estate This is the mail section letters communication writing in processing your thoughts and delivering them to SharkCast pod and
[00:01:18] There is some sort of order here, but it's more just when they were sent and which platform I'm going to read off at each time But first of all we have Neil Neil says Can you believe we clutched defeat from the jaws of victory again
[00:01:34] Why were we trying not to lose instead of trying to win is beyond me? We had them on the ropes with Tidesco in the bin and we take the two the roosters right side defense was an obvious target But we failed again very disappointing
[00:01:45] No doubting the effort. I'm disappointed. We didn't go for it though too negative. Thanks to your podcast It's been great listening always next year up up baby. That's from Neil first of all Neil We're not going anywhere the podcast will continue throughout spring and summer probably not
[00:02:00] Uh three or four times a week, but definitely one every now and then so just stay with this with the pod Make sure you subscribe and the podcast episodes will appear in your feed We will obviously do any sort of breaking news kind of episodes like with the
[00:02:14] Play awards and anything else that goes down throughout spring and summer and then other than that There's the whole things we want to try and do no complete promises But the point is we will be sticking around and talking about the sharks over spring and summer I
[00:02:30] Take what you Say on board. I think that we should have definitely punished them when they were down to 12 players Taking the two I didn't have a problem with at the time. I see in hindsight
[00:02:42] Perhaps why that shouldn't have been the case, but I don't think they were necessarily wrong in my opinion taking the two But yes, they definitely were trying
[00:02:51] Not to lose and I think they need to get out of that mentality next year. Thank you so much Neil for everything Blake says that stings But it is what it is. I think we missed hamlin welly out there tonight
[00:03:02] We needed a bit more go forward and he's our number one prop could have been a game changer I felt the rooster's pack dominated us more and more as the game went on Our middle was unfortunately second class compared to theirs
[00:03:14] Rooster kicks their chase and defense was just that level above us As you touched on I think the hard part for us was decision making when we had the ball The short side over call play was not on one minute left 40 meters out tackle four
[00:03:28] We sling it to the left rather than set up for a field goal There is not a team in the nrl who would have done that end of the day The rooster's players looked more hungry for meters and wanted it more
[00:03:37] I agree with I think almost everything you say there Blake It's hard to say they wanted it more because our effort was pretty good But I know what you're saying the way that the roosters played They had that extra kick of energy
[00:03:53] And they were down on troops. They were down on everything and they still pulled it out And it sucks and it stings as you say You also want to have a welfare check on Sado Dan I think Dan's doing fine
[00:04:05] I'm sure you'll hear from him in numerous ways as the week and weeks fall in the calendar, but Blake appreciate you being touched appreciate your support Ash says I found this stat on Twitter shucks. I won from nine in finals game since 2016 grand final
[00:04:24] Yeah, I mean that all looks correct Ash and you don't need to get your stats off Twitter I can assure you my friend But yes, we are on a pretty bad run with finals But I will say this Ash historically since
[00:04:39] 1967 and when we made our first finals a bit after that Our finals record overall is shocking It's horrendous We've jagged them here or there. We've made grand finals here or there But overall the record is not good
[00:04:53] And I think it's something that we need to start changing as of next year I don't see it as a club problem in that people from the past are responsible now and people now are responsible for the past They're all different years But there is a pattern there
[00:05:08] And I think that the sharks need to find some confidence in the way they play They look so good when they're doing the trick shots and scoring 40 metatrize They need to carry that with them Throughout the game at every level of the game defense kick chase
[00:05:22] Gold kicking field goal taking they need to play with more confidence within themselves And I think that will then carry out through the fan base and that will Filter out to the media and everywhere else I saw an interview with Aaron Rodgers quarterback for the New York Jets
[00:05:40] This was pre injury pre game one for the Jets And I'm not a huge Aaron Rodgers guy He's been my nemesis in a lot of ways For many years, but the guy can play and he's got some kooky thoughts and kooky opinions and
[00:05:55] I'm not suggesting that he's necessarily my go-to for quotes But I saw Aaron Rodgers talking about the Jets. He was doing an interview with John McEnroe You may have seen it on monday night football And McEnroe was playing the Fan that hadn't had success for a long time
[00:06:12] And Aaron Rodgers was the the hope that came in over The off season to lift them to playoffs into a title And Aaron Rodgers shot down John McEnroe saying why can't we win? Let's start thinking in a winning way with a winning mentality
[00:06:29] And then you start believing and then things start to happen with natural talent But it all starts with that belief and I know that sounds wishy washy And I'm sure he said it a lot better than what I can do
[00:06:40] But the sharks look nervous on saturday night against the roosters They looked happy when they scored. They looked happy to hold onto a lead that wasn't very big And they got nervous and that's not why they lost
[00:06:53] But they need to start playing with that belief that dare I say they had in 2016 Where no matter what the situation we were going to take care of things And and that's a confidence thing and that comes with experience the more
[00:07:07] The more losses in finals they have in a strange way the closer they are to winning one and jagging a few and getting their confidence in finals games
[00:07:15] Sometimes you got to go through the losses to get to the wins Ash. Thanks for your support. Thanks for writing into us Adam says Obviously an opportunity squandered Jesse Colhoun made a couple of stinking errors in such a short time
[00:07:29] Gave way six again on the fifth tackle midfield Stuck his foot out And then missed the tackle on the fellow scoring the try did something almost as dumb the other week too He's young, but it's first grade no excuses and
[00:07:43] Adam says he's frustrated and I feel like I feel like jesse colhoun is Not the problem here, but I know what you're saying that players no matter what age or what experience they need to have some accountability for what they're doing
[00:07:57] And jesse had a few howlers in the last few appearances. He's a really great talent and he'll have a pretty good Career I could only imagine. I really like what he does So we'll get that out of his game and we'll move on
[00:08:08] You say next year the talakai experiment is over. He could be used as a better benchy forward Dyches or ero need to get a go someone with a bit more agility And we talked about that on the episode with clinton
[00:08:20] The other night and completely agree with you adam You say thanks for the podcasts. I listened to them all the club should give you an award That's super kind man. I don't know what award they give me biggest pest at media every tuesday wednesday
[00:08:38] Hangs around like a bad smell hoping someone will talk to him appreciate you man. Thanks so much You say 2023 the year we put 50 on the dragons. Yeah, that was pretty good One last question. When do you sleep? Thanks again adam?
[00:08:54] When do I sleep? That's a great question. I'm not a great sleeper adam I get pretty tired But i'm not a great sleeper the mind doesn't turn off too well and also just yeah some things with lifestyle and work
[00:09:06] Don't equate to good sleep try and do it when I can it's important to sleep but uh, yeah, I can't really answer that with a straight one off Short answer. Thanks adam. Appreciate you Michael from cambera with the subject matter shark fin soup. I'm tired of excuses
[00:09:25] I'm tired of their inability to perform when it matters. I'm tired of losing very winnable finals I'm tired of everyone being right about our flat track bully system Just once could you prove them wrong? Why are you a constant disappointment?
[00:09:38] I'm tired of them being unable to set up for a field goal or ice a game I think we need to do some serious wheeling and dealing in the off season if we see anything different I'm also sick of being also rands
[00:09:49] Moeylin for nukin kufusi tracy and hunt are all in the mix for the tap You say we can't go another season without a hooker capel of first grade other than the guy who's there The things you see in blake. I do not and honestly
[00:10:03] I believe him to be in the bottom echelon of starters in his position He cost us dearly on saturday in a few ways and has not developed how we were all told and he has no pressure on him
[00:10:14] What if he got hurt? What's the plan? We need a hooker with first grade capability for an option please So plan would be cam mckinnis goes to hooker and then if he went down At the moment jaden burrell is there. I'm not convinced. He's a first grader
[00:10:29] Sam healy would then be next off the line. He's still quite young, but he's very very talented I don't know if you cut up the news michael, but blake brally just won player of the year and players player of the year
[00:10:41] I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying that's just what happened What I see in blake is a guy that is a very good tackler His passing from dummy half is crisp enough. He has the ability to
[00:10:53] Draw the line. He has the ability to kick now those two last things Need to be amped up and there's no denying He should have gone left when he went right can't change that can only learn from that
[00:11:06] But I appreciate what you're saying. I know that he's become the most maligned player in the club within certain elements of the fan base and I Am here to talk about that. You said our middles are a weakness
[00:11:18] And if it weren't for a kid from golbin, we'd be absolutely in the mud at this position You'd not a fan of kufusi You'd look elsewhere at someone like trey mooney from the raiders Something has to change in that area of the field
[00:11:32] And also you say guys need attitude adjustment telecom ronaldo at times have been way off the boil as has toby There's even more pressure on these guys from within stone street Eero dyke surely in the mix for next season. I would think they would be
[00:11:46] I would think they would be my friend tough loss to take very disappointing end to the disappointing season My patience has worn thin with this squad. I'm interested to see what happens next year My belief in fits gibbon as a long-term option is shaky to say the least
[00:11:59] Hope you had fun at the game. I mean, I completely appreciate you not very happy And all your points are valid. I don't necessarily agree with all of them, but they're all valid and You sir have a voice on this show anytime
[00:12:15] You want so thank you so much for your voice and for your support and for your friendship Ian is up next Uh, he says I look forward to each and every podcast it makes the season much more enjoyable
[00:12:28] And for those of us who live out of the area it makes me and my son feel as if we are part of the sharks community Ian thanks for your thoughts. Thanks for your kind words
[00:12:37] And you are part of the sharks community and you're definitely part of the shark cast community So shout out to you and your son you say statistically based on 16 teams in a salary cap You'd expect your team to be in the finals 50% of the time
[00:12:52] I'm pretty sure i'm right in saying we've been there in eight of the past 10 It means we're battling well above the average team. It's a credit to the club management
[00:13:01] You do say we don't have the cattle to make an impact in the finals missing a few forwards another center If we had that I think nico and tricky would have the potential to up their game by 20%
[00:13:11] And we could be a force the alternative is that after all of our finals appearances over 10 years We might enter a period of missing out for a few years, which is sad But in the meantime up up and thanks for everything you do that's from Ian
[00:13:22] Thanks again for kind words super kind of you super appreciate it There is that question and it happens a lot in the NFL, which I follow it's Would you rather a straight shot at the Super Bowl? but to get there some lean years working out your
[00:13:39] Your player depth and salary cap And that kind of thing and it's the same in the NRL like we are consistently in the top eight There's no denying that we are One of the more successful teams in that aspect, but we have one title in
[00:13:54] Over 55 years of history So depends how you look at success. I know that for example I'm not going to talk about the sharks, but in the NFL club owners
[00:14:04] So private owners franchise owners a lot of them just love the fact they make the playoffs every year because it's guaranteed income Sell out games every week merchandise, etc. Etc It's a it's a winning formula as far as the bank book goes now
[00:14:21] That's different to the NRL, but there are a lot of Arguments to be said. Well, I want to be in the top eight every year And then see what happens one year you might jag it
[00:14:32] I know that playing finals football is a lot more fun than not playing finals football But since we've tasted that success in 2016 It's pretty addictive and you want it back and at the moment we're falling a bit short We're not too far off
[00:14:46] Getting back into that circle of possibility. I don't think I think the window is Very much open, but it's not as open as maybe as much as we thought it was Going into the season. So we need to open that window a bit more
[00:14:59] Thanks so much again for your few correspondents. Don't be a stranger Alan says another winnable game thrown away You say that sam walker outplayed nick ohyant And you talk about some contract Extensions possibly and you are looking at guys like Hamlin Welley, quenetrace
[00:15:20] Jack Williams, kduck's tom haslton terby roodoff, klerow and max bradbury Now you then talk about the three semi-final losses We've had or the final losses we've had and you are asking will the coach be dumped like john morris I think he's lost the confidence of the team
[00:15:37] With him not altering the game plan from week to week I also think the club urdin selecting a novice coach early had one Experience coach to learn from i.e. Trent Robinson
[00:15:46] And also isn't fitzy supposed to be a great defensive coach. He hasn't shown this in his time at the sharks All right, let me pull you up there alan last year leading into week one of the finals. We were in the top two
[00:15:58] Defensive teams and that was all season this year it fell apart in numerous games In the past five weeks our defense improved Massively to the point where we looked like a legitimate final team in the game against the roosters. The defense did not lose us that game
[00:16:14] so I think that Is a little bit of a stretch Currently talking about him being a bad defensive coach It went haywire and he's fixed it. That's not why we lost on the weekend praise for conna tracy
[00:16:27] Followed by seyoni katawa. You say that's all for now and I can't wait for your discussion on shark park improvements Cheers and stay well. Thanks alan appreciate you being in touch and uh, yeah really appreciate your regular correspondence Mitch says thoughts on 2023
[00:16:45] Dave rick here summed it up best a month ago when he said we're relatively still Inexperienced they've shown a lack of resilience this year and inability to absorb pressure and play off the back foot and shift momentum
[00:16:57] They've needed to play downhill and in front to win games. There's still a work in progress I always thought when fitzy took over it was a three to four year timeline until we saw the maturation And fruition of his stewardess ship last season second place was probably
[00:17:12] Uh, a bit too high too early thoughts on the game specifically against the roosters where were all our fans I counted at least 50 seats in the upper et are Unoccupied and a large section in front of the chairman's marquee
[00:17:26] Why I would have gladly paid for one of those seats had I had the opportunity if we want to host semis at home I expect we should be hanging from the rafters To their credit the roosters fans showed up and had a much larger presence than I expected
[00:17:40] Cheers for all the hard work this year. I don't think you know how appreciate you are that's from mitchell and mitchell Was a guest of ours on our coughs hub episode this year. So mitchell, we appreciate you sir
[00:17:53] And I do feel the love from everyone. I can uh, I can attest to that. So thank you As well mitch for letting me know how you feel about the pod. It uh, it means a great deal Thank you so much as for your thoughts they're spot on
[00:18:08] I do think that we are a team Uh, a work in progress as a team And that may be a cop out saying that me off season after a loss, but I think it's what we are
[00:18:17] Work in progress and it's not all that bad. It's really not all that bad completely See your point of view on the home semifinal I said in I think the review episode that I had six seats in front of me
[00:18:32] All spare the whole game before and after a seat either side of Myself and my friend kieran and there were plenty of others around who had spare seats around them too I'm not sure what the situation was. I'm guessing they were corporates that weren't used
[00:18:49] But I think that whoever is in charge, I guess it's the nrl Not that it's not the club. It's the nrl They need to maybe be better at that because they could be making more money getting more people in there
[00:18:59] And I agree with you about the roosters fans. They were loud And they were boisterous And I think they rallied their team and I was Surprised that the vibe was different this year than it was against the cowboys the cowboys game last year was insanity. It was
[00:19:16] Rock and roll. It was fantastic The vibe against the roosters still pretty good like it was up there. It was it was good But boy, I would unhappily tell you the roosters fans kind of own the sharks fans
[00:19:28] And that really disappoints me to say that at least where I was and what I was hearing and seeing Someone else may have a different interpretation, of course Sean says it's that time of year again where I sit in the corner put my hands over my ears
[00:19:41] And chant the mantra I think happy thoughts That reminds me of a my chemical romance song. That's my words not Sean's I'm sure this criticism of fits however It must be remembered he's in the second year of his first grade coaching career With a second year half back
[00:19:57] I thought our performance was inexcusable and very disheartened A lot of the commentary since then has been this team can only learn from the experience The final success is built out of these failures and you say good points and you agree
[00:20:10] Like most of your listers. I want to see at least one or two steel edge brutal forwards added Fits as challenge is not the feet on the ground with the players
[00:20:17] But what's in the head as a team and as a club we get them to rise the big occasions This is the biggest test of his coaching credentials as Bellamy Bennett and Robinson have shown Only the best can do this and do it on a consistent basis
[00:20:30] He's hoping a man at the helm can produce this from our beloved team Best of luck in the off season. Hope we get a few pods up up Sean. Sean. Are you getting more than a few pods? Stay tuned and I agree that I don't think we can
[00:20:43] Talk enough about the fact that we need to Get an identity happening And I think that we're close to identity and that is a team that doesn't give up a team that Can score when needed to in most opportunities
[00:21:00] But also that storyline changes in bigger games. We've seen that But I will say that the sharks did not give up on the weekend. They just Made the wrong decisions. So I think that Craig Fitzgibbon Hopefully we'll spend some off season
[00:21:15] Thinking about what he wants this club to ultimately be now. He's had them for two years now He knows their strengths and weaknesses And from there we can try and reach that Goal of being who we want to be Both individually and collectively. Thank you Sean
[00:21:32] Next up we have Jacqueline and I've replied Jacqueline to the first part of your email. Thank you for saying all those things You say on the coach And this isn't to bash him. I think he's the man for the job
[00:21:45] But perhaps he needs an assistant like Maj McGuire to help out or oversee or direct Some of the decisions being made in the field aren't quite getting us There I also believe
[00:21:55] He's susceptible to a few questionable decisions hearing me the press conference talk about how they themselves weren't sure what option to take Read the two points was a bit off for me. He's still a rookie coach, but perhaps his assistants need a reshuffle
[00:22:07] That was interesting in his press conference when talking about the Chance to take the two points while today's goes in the bin or to go for the try He said something like
[00:22:18] Oh, the coaches and I weren't sure what the right decision was and I thought that was a Bizarre thing to say very honest and I appreciate his honesty. So no dramas But the point being if you're not completely sure well
[00:22:31] Out of all the people in the stadium, I think you should be the one that should be the most sure so That was interesting and I could see how your point
[00:22:39] Jacqueline of getting a more experienced person next to him like like a Mike on the goire type coach Would be of assistance in those moments a sounding board He has good staff around him. I can't say that enough, but you're talking about I guess
[00:22:54] Someone even higher than a steep price who has done everything at a top level. You're talking about The next level also on your comment read the empty seats I was in the et up. I had nine empty seats in my row
[00:23:07] The game vibe did not compare to the game against cowboys last season Last season the hill was heaving a recall steam coming from the hill. It was that packed last weekend was nowhere near as packed
[00:23:18] I feel they definitely undersold tickets this year despite the strange crowd figures officially recording this game was attended by more Love the pod Jacqueline Yeah, as I said just before I'm not sure what happened with the empty seats, but they were
[00:23:32] Inabundance and it wasn't just one. It was six for me. It was nine for you was plenty more for plenty others. So a little weird Little odd I guess maybe they'll learn from that. I'm not sure completely appreciate your support Jacqueline
[00:23:46] Now I'm not sure if I read this one out Or not this is from adam and it continues the fishing theme of the last month or so. So if I have
[00:23:55] Read this out. I apologize if I haven't thanks so much and you say not only do you need to license a fish You're also not allowed to fish off the Tarran Point Bridge Which you use in your hypothetical situation
[00:24:05] Of not having a license had you done that you would have been up for two fines Hope I just saved you some hypothetical Dosh. Well adam I wasn't heading off to do that But I appreciate that I now know that I can't do that
[00:24:17] Thanks adam. Uh david was in touch and david Has saved my bacon David pointed out to me that for the past few weeks. I've been running the royal mighty yacht club ad advertisement
[00:24:32] With some gaps in it and I mentioned this on the episode with clinton, but basically I lost a bunch of our stingers I got them back And there was a pop-up saying some of these may be corrupted and i'm like yeah, whatever move on
[00:24:45] That one out of all of them is missing some some sound bites And so david let me know about that and I really really really appreciate that. So thank you So much for that and I'll have to correct that moving forward
[00:24:58] Steve said just when the sharks started looking like a real threat they mess it up again Down 12 men they put only one try on should have sealed the game right there and then But that same team drops the ball with the games in the line
[00:25:10] Two field goal attempts charged down Should have kicked them the third not went to the last tackle It was theirs to lose They did just that you say that the nicotrindle combination didn't work need someone else to come in who'll be better with nicot
[00:25:24] You mentioned a jamal foggity type player Also, k. Dyches who is an option should the coach want to go that way You say that if we have the same starting 17 nothing will change You think other teams will get stronger so to be struggled to make the eight
[00:25:39] You also say ero tracy and hazelton should be in the 17 each week You're a fan of bringing in sam stone street You're not a fan of the fact that we are known now as chokers and the haters keep rubbing it in
[00:25:51] You say next year will be a dismal season unless some of these changes Are brought in enjoy off season. It's off to barley now for the sharks. Uh, steve. Thanks for writing in appreciate it I am not of the opinion
[00:26:03] That same team equals same performance next year because In the off season, I'm asking them to Train different play different can't keep doing the same. You're 100 correct There's no reason why the same guys can't play a little bit different or we mix things up
[00:26:20] Some slight positional changes teleguided the middle on the bench Erro or tracy to the centers Dyches on the fringe stone street on the fringe make jack williams Make tom hazelton key features of the forward pack There are ways to have this squad more successful and I feel that
[00:26:43] The coach will do everything within his power To reach that because he knows that his Reputation is on the line as well Thanks, steve. Appreciate you writing in Mateo has written in from the philippines. He said we're not very happy
[00:26:58] Pre-down didn't feel much like partying last saturday night. A few of us had some quiet drinks I give credit to the sharks though a good performance, but should have put it to bed missed ueli You weren't happy with trindle's easy missed goal
[00:27:13] Some bad decisions. You think mckinness try was a try that went to the bunker and they said no Anyway season over hope they can lift next year The off season starts the shark season's over so is ours
[00:27:26] Sorry if I sound upset, but we should have won that game It's back to the slower drinking sam miggs won't need to buy a shopping cart full each week now And yes, they are cheap here. It can fill up a shopping cart of beer for around $80
[00:27:39] Compared to the prices there. You can see why we party a lot. Good luck for next year sharks will continue listening sharks for life I'm a tear no apologies needed. Uh, we're all pretty Disappointed in what happened not to mention the players and the staff
[00:27:53] So we appreciate your listenership We appreciate the fact that you're spreading the word throughout the philippines and having the big listening parties and the big viewing parties Uh at the season will come around before you know it Before you know it be watching preseason in february
[00:28:06] So button material the point is in the off season Make sure you subscribe because you'll be getting some podcasts throughout the remaining year Thanks again. Really appreciate you being in touch
[00:28:19] Chad says i'm furious for the first time in my life. I was blaming the ref for 70 percent of that game But then nicko again, then nicko again couldn't finish the game
[00:28:28] He can't take the pressure of a close game for the final time of the year toby hands on hips after 10 minutes But fits kept him on all half brought him back on when tom went off when colhune was fresh We beat ourselves again rent over that's from chad
[00:28:44] 70 percent of the game on the ref Nicko not being able to handle big games Uh, I don't know if that's a complete accurate sentence there. I think it's a bit circumstantial
[00:28:57] He's got a way to go in his career and I can't pin it all on him should have been better at the field goal situation Absolutely, you're right there chad. Thanks for being in touch Wade says absolutely gotta be lost that can't believe it happened again
[00:29:10] I've a weird feeling and hope it comes reality But I feel these super tough losses for nicko and this group are adding up and going to help them in the near future In a big moment in a big game
[00:29:19] I just hope it can pan out that way and we can all celebrate what a great squad we have together right now Thanks to the potty all you see them can't wait to hear more in 2024
[00:29:28] Wade, you don't have to wait till 2024 because we will give you more episodes this year. Make sure you're subscribed my friend I think you're right. I love your attitude I feel like these tough losses will lead to something really really good at some point
[00:29:41] You can only improve on your errors mistakes losses. You can only come out of it a better Human being so thank you so much for being in touch All right, steve has been in touch He said question for this week's podcast
[00:29:58] You talk about us needing another middle. Is this someone we have at our club? Or do you want us to go find someone and who would you target and who would they replace? You also say can everyone please leave fits alone He's doing a great job
[00:30:11] And we have the world's nicest number seven huge. Thanks to you and your co-host for the podcast logie I'm going to miss it in the off season. Thanks steve
[00:30:19] Steve not going to miss it my man. You're going to be listening once a week once for you two weeks You're going to be listening so make sure you subscribe. There's more podcasts coming this year That is a garen damn tea
[00:30:31] Steve thank you for all your support throughout the year as far as us needing another middle I think there's ways to tinker with it as I've said in the last couple episodes if you keep the same squad
[00:30:42] There's ways to tinker with it. So I think that tom hazelton has now lifted another level Jack Williams is Probably our best forward I think there's two guys that you can use more And whether you start them whether you keep them on the bench, there's more
[00:30:58] Minutes in them and just more contributions from the more focus on them Hamlin Welley, hopefully will have a much better season as far as his uh injury Status goes if you can stay on the field he can show that what a beast he is
[00:31:13] I think I'd be looking at ways to utilize toby Rudolph or in gifusi rois hunt And dal finuccan. I'd be looking at ways to use them better And when I say that I think that It's just not
[00:31:28] Working the way that it should be with those guys individually and collectively So I would look at ways over summer just to use them smarter because they all have talent
[00:31:39] But I think at the moment we're not getting the most out of those guys in particular as far as targeting anyone No one specifically comes to mind who is free But I just think that it's worth taking a punt on someone who Has strength in the middle
[00:31:55] Experience don't have to be a headline name but someone who's going to be reliable And you know, that's a tough ask in this market. Unfortunately. I wouldn't be going for anyone You see people coming on the market Canterbury are shedding some guys. I wouldn't just take them
[00:32:10] Some of those guys have reps for other reasons that you probably don't want I'd be very smart about who I pick up. I wouldn't just pick up anyone But I do think we need some help A steve also asks about a bet of the week
[00:32:22] And that's probably something we can look into in a very lighthearted way because betting of course Is for over 18s only we have under 18s listening and also a lot of people or some people
[00:32:35] Obviously don't like hearing about that kind of thing. And I appreciate a lot of you do so We'll sort of think about that in the off season, but steve you're an absolute legend Thanks for being a touch and you take care my friend Luci's been in touch
[00:32:49] He says what a garbage way to go out the roosters weren't exactly clinical For the first 60 minutes I kept repeating to myself we can win this I don't understand going for the two points Coulda woulda shoulda All in all a disappointing season
[00:33:03] Mullen should never put on a shark's jersey again Unless it's a fan Caffusi is going to be one of the most disappointing buyers in recent memories Brails is so on and off Tall Tom looked really good Got it to see him go down the way he did
[00:33:16] We are missing something in this team and I can't put my finger on it It's something just feels off Doesn't give you much confidence for next season unless we pull off some sort of off season signing that no one sees coming
[00:33:27] Anyway, now the league season is over time to spend my time working on my own podcast Love your work. Uh, hopefully we get to hang out in the upcoming future. Yes. Thank you so much for all that And I should say that luci has a podcast
[00:33:42] Where is it? I use a podcast called the post credit show and I've listened to the first episode All about popular culture and it's a really good listen So a bit of a plug for a very dedicated listener who has his own podcast
[00:33:57] dare I say at the moment not really related but The post credits show if you would like to check out luci's show as far as for all of your thoughts
[00:34:06] It was a very disappointing way to go out disappointing season. Yes compared to last year and compared to our expectations I think overall there was a lot of fun to be had there were some bad losses
[00:34:16] Or is game manly game melvin game. There were some bad losses, but I think they still entertained us We still had some good times Still made the eight. I think there's a light at the end of the tunnel
[00:34:27] There's a lot of positivity around this team and the season the negativity kicks in because they should have done so much better I agree with you that something is missing in this team. I think it is the knockout blow terrible expression the
[00:34:41] killer instinct the whatever cliche you want to throw in I think it's that The ability just to go we need to win this now. Boom. We've won it So they'll get there. It's just they've got to go through some of these hard chips
[00:34:55] Unfortunately to get there. It's a relatively young squad working together and as a fan base Probably needs some patience there Andrew says the first misconversion from basically in front the drop ball by brahly over the trial line
[00:35:10] The decision to kick for goal at 10-6 with tedesco in the bin deflection off the foot from colhoun The shallow kick for goal drop goal by nico. Unfortunately now it's been two years in a row
[00:35:23] I can't see how we go into 2024 without change. Maybe it's dyke see maybe it's assistant coach Maybe it's a matter of looking for a beast forward on the market or from overseas But it's clear we can't go into 2024 without change. We are good, but we're not good enough
[00:35:38] Thanks for the year great podcast. That's from Andrew. Thanks for the kind words I agree with a lot of what you say. I think that we went super close. We made some wrong calls
[00:35:48] And I think we do need a little bit of help going into next year a bit of change and as I said Throughout this podcast and the last one it doesn't have to be from outside of the club You can change things within it to improve your team
[00:36:01] So see which way they go there Paul says I'd like to see a struck a deal to see dale off I'd also be telling hunt. It's now or never Up the engine or you miss out brilliant But into small a dose you think siffer to bench rotation
[00:36:17] And time for euro You'd also be chatting to the likes of mooney from camber white from the roosters may from the roosters smith from the panthers Yeah, that that's all great great thoughts paul
[00:36:28] We tend to agree a lot on a lot of this stuff and and I like all that Thanks so much for listening. Michael says The dust has now settled on the performance and while extremely disappointing We didn't get the luck the 5050 you need in those big games
[00:36:43] We don't have the pack to dominate games like that with some personnel changes now, but limited recruitment Hopefully we see dykes emerge and we have to blood hero Siffer to the forwards
[00:36:54] I know nico and the coach will dissect the season again the season was different the last season Refinement is still needed. We have what we have they'll develop. We just have to trust this is not an overnight sensation
[00:37:07] May take time and while none of us have any we have to be patient I don't think it fits given and nico will accept mediocrity I'm still very much on their bus bring on 2024 great stuff, michael
[00:37:19] Thank you for your listenership and for your great thoughts there, and I agree with a large part of what you say Evan has written in and said Disappointing results should have won that not sure I went for the field goal to tie it up
[00:37:32] Our decision to take a two when teddy was off was strange Needs to be some serious questions asked about the length of time toby plays He looks absolutely spent every time he gets towards the end of his shift
[00:37:42] Needs me to change five minutes earlier also in regards to the empty seats. I took this photo at 7 48 p.m And I'm actually in that photo my friend I can see myself I'd be nice to hear from 50 wants dust settles
[00:37:56] And I think some tweaks need to be made into the way we play cheese and I'm up. That's from Evan great stuff. Thank you Thanks so much for being touched really appreciate it continue to write in about your thoughts
[00:38:09] I know a bunch of you'll have thoughts on the player wards and Just things moving forward stadium hotel whatever it is shark related get in touch Past present future were open to all sorts of chats here
[00:38:22] We'll be doing more episodes throughout the end of the year. I've said that numerous time But just to get it into your ears. We're not going away. I have no idea
[00:38:29] If the next one will be but it's not going to be a month away. I wouldn't have thought so Stay with us subscribe and just know that we appreciate your support until then take care up up What's my cover now with a charge fee
