[00:00:00] SharkCast! SharkCast! SharkCast! SharkCast! Fafina got the ball back in the shire. Tell you what, slide top, because we're coming out with a trophy. Welcome to Shark Park Gary Dover, a place you know well. My name is Sam Shinazz, you know G from 2015.

[00:00:39] This is SharkCast pod, we're doing something a bit different, a bit of fun. Gary the Sharks win! We won! What was the score? That's a great question. 20-4. 24. Shark's win crucial match is what you say on your Sharks.com.au post. Yes.

[00:00:57] Anyway, we are here to discuss what happened, what went down, have it a bit of fun and it was a pretty dour contest Gary. One we needed though, everyone keeps telling me about the negatives about tonight as

[00:01:10] I walk around Shark Park but we just need to win, we came here, we need to win brother. We needed to win, we needed to win and we did it, doesn't matter how you get

[00:01:16] the two points at the end of the day you got them but yeah, that first half was a bit awful and a lot to work on there, a few mistakes and yeah, the second half was a bit better

[00:01:25] but still not great and we obviously saw what the Titans did this afternoon against the Broncos and we got a big game up there which I'm sure we'll talk about later next week. Shark's win 20 points to four.

[00:01:35] My positives for the night were a win, kept the other team to one point. Not much else? No, I'm not trying to be a wise enheimer, I'm just trying to think it was a gritty

[00:01:45] kind of, it wasn't a finals type game, it was actually one of the poorer games I've seen all year but that's the sort of close contest you might get in the finals game. That's a positive that we got to experience that tonight as a team.

[00:01:59] I think we all came here thinking we'd blow the other team out of the water, it didn't really happen till the end. There were a million injuries and concussions and... Head knocks and all sorts of things. What can you tell us about that?

[00:02:11] Yeah, Trixie came off obviously at the back end of the game, about 11 minutes to go so they coached it in there with Mick Ennis at the end. He had a bit of a hammy tightness or awareness he called it so I'm not sure what awareness of a...

[00:02:21] He's aware that there's an issue? There's something there, so they pulled him off, apparently he was fighting to stay on but they wanted to pull him off so I think it's more of a precautionary thing but yeah, head knocks to Jesse, head knocks to

[00:02:33] Stone Street, there's a few going on and off so yeah we'll see what happens in the next couple of days with those guys but yeah Trixie's obviously the most concerning or pressing one considering Nico's already down and out for the next few weeks. What's your plan if...

[00:02:49] We're only speculating, what's your plan if Trindle isn't fit? I don't have one just yet, there's obviously Nephi who would come in there, Moenny's been playing a bit of 5'8". So a couple of guys there you could bring in but I'm not sure what

[00:03:01] the coach would do, I mean we played a couple of games now with one half and we could always do that but I'm sure at the end of the day they'll want someone in there that's gonna, yeah, you know, that knows

[00:03:13] that position a bit more than throwing someone in who's played a couple of games there so I'm thinking Nephi or Amar would be their choice if Trixie's not good to play. They wouldn't do the kind of Melbourne Storm thing where we had

[00:03:25] Braille and McKinnon's kind of hanging out there? I feel like it worked because no one knew about it, I'm not sure there but yeah obviously that's another option but I think they'll go with a specialist half if that's the case that Trixie is out.

[00:03:37] I'll say this, we're missing a little bit of leadership out there, Gary. And when I say that, I say that with respect but I'm talking about someone that just says follow me, I'm gonna take care of this.

[00:03:47] I think Talakai is kind of the closest we got to it. Yeah, I agree with that. You and I need to take the spine out for a night of bonding, B-O-N-D-I-N-G bonding and we need to bring the voice out in them

[00:04:03] because for me the spine just isn't dominating enough, particularly amongst themselves and guiding them around. Yeah and they're obviously super young like Aka, Trixie, Braille's and Will, that's a young combination there but someone needs to step up

[00:04:21] and really own that and you know that leadership roles is super important one and I mean they're all chatting out there and everything's like going well but yeah as you mentioned like as soon as a guy like him, McKinnon's

[00:04:31] comes off you're kind of relying on Sifu who does a good job but as soon as he's subbed off and both those guys are off the field there's not really anyone out there who's kind of taken it by the reins

[00:04:41] so we do need some sort of leadership there and I think we were actually speaking about it the other night at the new shark store opening with Dale Finooken there that you know when he retired early this year

[00:04:53] we kind of lost a massive part of our leadership group and our leadership roles on the field. He used to sort of own that when Ken was off and vice versa so

[00:05:03] I don't know we don't know what it is but yeah I think someone needs to step up and you know Trixie does a bit of it but he can't be doing it all. I think they'll be getting better each week with it but tonight it was just

[00:05:14] a bit noticeable because it was what was it 6-4 for ages and and it kind of did look like it could go either way which is a concern and thankfully it didn't like we ran away with it, it was fine.

[00:05:25] Souths had a lot of injuries tonight that the team they named was not spectacular at all they lost Cody Walker later as well to add to everything else so the team we beat was not I would say a first grade competent kind of team.

[00:05:38] 13 plus win as our friend Liam at the York Club told me on the way out 13 plus win but it didn't really feel like it. Didn't feel like it at all but at the end of the day right it's the NRL

[00:05:48] like it's the premier competition in football and they're playing for their season tonight and they weren't just going to roll over and give up like they kind of did last week against the Raiders I think they had a point to prove with that

[00:05:58] you know what I got the giggles? Wow tell me. That's Fitzgibbon 101 right there. I've been spending too much time with Fitzgibbon 101. And I'm not saying that that's wrong but that's exactly what the coach would say and I'm going to respect that because I respect the coach.

[00:06:10] Listeners are writing into us which is great and we said a lot of Mark, Jason Hawes at Crips and Crips Real Estate, the best real estate agent in the Galaxy get in touch with him and our friend Buckwit says hold the pill now let's talk about that

[00:06:24] there were a lot of errors tonight from both teams. I was pretty frustrated in that first half especially. I thought we're trying to move away from all that kind of thing but unfortunately

[00:06:34] a lot more errors and we saw that their try came off the back of an error from a scrum and there were far too many errors. Yeah Fitzgibbon mentioned that he made a point of mentioning that in the Sheds

[00:06:45] after the game there he said that was pretty much a discussing first half performance and we need to sort that out he said we are a second half team and we can't be that anymore we need to get both halves right

[00:06:55] we need to get those 80 minute performances happening and it needs to happen now so you know they've obviously they know it's happening and they're addressing it but a little bit more than what's been going on has to happen

[00:07:05] so we'll see what we turn up with in the first 40 next week against the Titans. Now before we go any further and speak before I forget if we look at the clock here we are less than an hour and a half less than 90 minutes away

[00:07:19] from this gentleman's birthday. Shark Cast Pods very own Gary Dover is turning in mystery number we don't even ask it's none of our business how do I look how do you look yeah how do

[00:07:31] I look 30 something yeah you're on the money so we're good with that I'll tell you what one of us could do with a haircut and it's not you apologies listeners and viewers I could do with

[00:07:40] this little shame okay so here we've got some topical stuff coming in this is awesome Adam has written to us look at that everyone we now have proof so for years and years and years there was this

[00:07:52] thing about where the sharks would have an announcement to cheer on the team at a crucial attacking moment or when they play the Jaws theme that was it they play the Jaws theme

[00:08:03] we dropped the ball that was the common I'm gonna say thought but we couldn't ever really prove it because years have gone past since then but tonight we heard it the sharkies chant went up the

[00:08:17] the Jess Chitsch approved pre-recorded sharkies chant went up and they dropped the ball Royce Hunt right on the line it wasn't good so there's now proof that when you play the music when

[00:08:29] they're on the attack they drop the ball I'm a big NFL guy you are so it's like I'm that whole keep it quiet on offense and make noise on defense so Adam who wrote in and a whole bunch of other

[00:08:40] listeners have written into us about this and it makes perfect sense and to be honest I'd never really thought about it that hard but it may completely sent complete sense to me as an NFL

[00:08:48] guy as well don't disturb the offense when they're offencing they're chatting they're trying to work out where it runs going and what they're doing and then you just hear this now there was

[00:08:57] over 12,000 people here tonight it was sold out crowd a few few rabbit holes snuck in mostly Cronola I thought the vibe was okay yeah it was all right I mean for the first half that we had

[00:09:08] it was quality that was out there the crowd I thought hung in there which would be good too too much but yeah they hung in there and it was good not the back end of the game there when we

[00:09:15] scored a few points they came alive and it's always good to have a big crowd down here at Shark Park do you think sharks administration notice that when that recording happens and they

[00:09:25] dropped the ball do they put one and one together or not I'm not sure I don't know who controlling all that down there so I might talk to chitch during the week and we'll see what

[00:09:34] happened love the chitch lover Mitch has written in Mitch said huge game from Carl Ido only reason I remember that game is because I had a multi anytime tries for Sione stone street and tricky

[00:09:46] hey got up how good congrats beers are on Mitch thanks Mitch that's awesome dude yeah Carl's getting better with every game he's about the meters yeah he's just so hard to tackle he's such a strong guy and you know he's always breaking through and dude 215 meters

[00:10:02] yeah he's solid so it was um interesting there when Jesse went off and Siffer came on in the centers and yes I looked at Mitch next to me I said here we go Siffer will get one on one with

[00:10:12] someone and we'll be scoring right in front of us and that's exactly what happened past the ball they scored unreal unreal let's talk about Sam Stone Street he had a mixed game it's his second

[00:10:22] nrl game young fella I want to see him put on and far beard from me to be the one to say it a few kilograms he looks a little bit um he's lean he's very lean well he just tall and thin

[00:10:35] I guess I didn't realize he was that lean yeah but he looks like every tackle kind of really hurts him and I'm not saying it does uh mixed game scored a nice try should have had a few more

[00:10:45] yeah mixed reports coming in Gary about the no try in the corner yeah I was down on that side and I took a couple of good photos I thought he's had fingers on the ball the whole time but well

[00:10:56] the people watching on tv thought that one person watching a big tv in the bunker did not yeah right well I have to have another look at it but yeah from where I was sitting in the photos that I got

[00:11:05] I thought he held onto it enough those ones have been given plenty of times in the last year and a half so 215 meters from Kale area that was awesome it was very noticeable watching that game as well yeah we'll currently return from a week off I thought

[00:11:19] he played pretty good he had a few errors in his game but he had a bit of a swagger tonight do you notice that when he was running a bit of a swagger yeah he kind of yeah and even in defense

[00:11:28] like he put on a good shot down that end of the field the on the goal line there when he picked up one of the big forwards and dumped him there so you know he's worked hard on a

[00:11:36] bit of his game and it's good to see him back obviously you know one game back after a little break one week makes a little bit of a difference he's got to get back into the swing of things

[00:11:45] so he'll be better for the run and he'll be up in the gold coast playing his 100th next week so is that right I believe sir you'll double check that I will get back to me but I believe it's his

[00:11:54] hundredth next week so another game for will another good game coming up I think also I'm not sure if I'm supposed to say this but like normal I'm just gonna say it I heard he's gonna have

[00:12:04] a bobblehead soon really I haven't heard that so you've got news before me but I'm sure he probably will I heard there's a bobblehead coming how good and there was someone else

[00:12:12] mentioned to me and I cannot remember who I know because we've got it we've got Ronnie and Nico bobbleheads is that right someone who is new to the club as an employee hey told me that there

[00:12:26] were more bobbleheads coming next week and one was with Kennedy and one was someone else hopefully I haven't got that new person in trouble no not at all hey how are you celebrating your

[00:12:34] birthday tomorrow I'm not really doing much to be honest just hanging out with the family taking it easy it's good to just have the day off I was meant to be going to the NRLW game

[00:12:41] obviously the girls are playing the eels out at early hours tomorrow yeah so everyone else is going out there and taking one for the team and I'll be sitting at home watching with the family

[00:12:48] and probably have a nice lunch and a couple of beers how good's that like just every every day is shark day another game tomorrow non-stop straight back in on Monday to do it all again okay

[00:13:00] halves Atkinson and Trindle I thought solid games I thought Trindle was pretty good again everything kind of revolved around him I think Atco could step up a little bit and his

[00:13:09] five eighths role but I thought he was really good I love how calm he is yeah he's a calm player and you need that I think like yeah that's sort of the the role that he relishes in and that's probably

[00:13:19] where he plays his best footy when Tricky's out there and you know kind of directing the troops and letting Atco play his natural game which is a bit more of a running a bit more of a eyes up

[00:13:28] play what's in front of your type footy and yeah sometimes it doesn't go the best when he's bobbin side to side and he's not doing too much but then you'll get those moments

[00:13:35] of brilliance when he's putting people through or he's setting up some nice backline shape so yeah I'm liking the way they've sort of come together off the back of Nico's unfortunate injury but

[00:13:44] yeah we'll see what happens next week I'm interested to see you know if Tricky's injury is not the best and he is out for next week what's going to happen there with Atco and whoever he

[00:13:53] partners and who sort of takes that role of you know directing the troops around and really owning the team I'm getting worried now we're talking about Trindle being possibly out again when you saw him down in the Sheds what was the scenario he was alright he just had

[00:14:06] ice on his hemmy and he was just sitting there he seemed like he was fine and no one was too concerned which was I mean a good thing but you never really know until tomorrow morning when he

[00:14:13] pulls up and sees how sore it is and what sort of is wrong with it but we'll wait and see on that one Joe said frustrating game to watch which we all agree with definitely I know the people I

[00:14:24] was sitting with Kieran from Sharkcast and we had an international visitor with us which we'll get to but Kieran in particular was a bit frustrated sitting right next to your beautiful family actually I

[00:14:37] was like please don't say a swear word if he's Kieran don't swear please Kieran don't swear and then your three-year-old just said the f-point no just a joke joke joke joke joke

[00:14:48] Dana says our friend from I'm not gonna say where she's from says happy birthday gas thank you Dana I appreciate it I'm looking forward to it tomorrow Chris has said more questions and answers tonight

[00:15:02] lads very concerning let me think about that statement yeah yeah there are some questions out there that's for sure questions out there Chris what are the questions let us know what they

[00:15:14] our friend Luke in Melbourne is watching and said what's this a live post game ah sometimes we just fly by the seat of our pants you know um usually we're both working around football time

[00:15:26] but tonight you're kind of finishing up and I had finished up from my duty so we thought we just do this you know it's nothing groundbreaking the other fellas who sit in the stand they

[00:15:38] do the live podcast which is awesome sometimes the rebel amongst our crew Dan and Terry they do it obviously every person and their dog do it and here we are we actually the numerator and I used

[00:15:52] to do it a lot over in the in the Lees club yeah with the great Scott Maxworthy that's right she's flashing back in time yeah good but Luke we just try and mix stuff up and we're

[00:16:04] gonna make this into a pod and we're just having a bit of fun experimenting with tech Mitch says uh better team punished up for 15 odd errors 15 errors ooh gotta be way better

[00:16:16] yeah we've got the Titans this week man that's gonna be tough yeah they're in some good form so they they just attack they attack like mothos like it's ridiculous the Titan attack like old man

[00:16:26] foreign he's just rocking yeah so so the defense is gonna have to be good next week and it was good tonight to be fair the defense was good we're gonna have to capitalize on those missed

[00:16:35] opportunities in attack and we've got to be on for longer than 40 minutes we do we do Daniel's pretty pumped up especially for IRO season Gary when it says SZN that means season it does you've got

[00:16:50] that right uh avocado shark awesome name Jack Williams strong on return he was I mean he was playing in different kind of positions because of the injuries everything I'm all over place yeah I mean

[00:17:02] I we're huge jack guys and it was a bit odd having him out of the team the other week but um let's see what happens with that contract I'm getting a little bit nervous about the contract not be

[00:17:11] just hanging a bit while isn't it it's not um but fits the style is just to sort of inbox you with a with an idea of like hey I need this contract news out ASAP yeah here's an hour

[00:17:22] to get some artwork done love your fits okay so Luke's coming up for the Warriors game which is awesome huge fan of the sharks look he's got his own podcast called the post credit show and it's mainly

[00:17:35] about pop culture but occasionally he'll drop in sharks references which is awesome this is a very special message my good friend Brenda Manahan became a father for the second time oh how good

[00:17:47] that's more than me but less than you just the other day congratulations I watched you in hospital brought in the HDMI put it on the communal TV yes a little Cooper got his first game and a win so

[00:18:01] Brenda you know how I feel my man congrats congrats congrats congrats that's awesome best forward pack Gary tonight I thought was competent I thought Toby for the second

[00:18:14] week in a row was our best and I get a bit of shade for that from people but I thought he was the best out there at night Royce Hunt was really good yeah Royce has been good uh teleki

[00:18:24] when he had his time in the in the forwards was good I thought otherwise I thought braze had some good runs here and there but um wasn't a huge dominating self yeah

[00:18:35] overall like we've got a bit another few levels we can get to there in the forward pack that I think we need to unlock over the coming weeks I think we'll need to to to to have a shot at this

[00:18:46] title I reckon the forward pack need to unleash a bit hopefully they can who was your favorite forward app I thought Royce was pretty good tonight I just thought he's aggressive and he makes an impact

[00:18:56] and whenever he's got the ball you sort of don't know what you're going to get which is good and bad but yeah I think most of the time he's making the meters and he's busting some people

[00:19:04] up which is good any whispers on uh on Royce's future not that I've heard so it's interesting because he's still here next year yeah exactly it's not like we're just gonna let him go when

[00:19:16] he's playing like that so so uh Liam from the Roa Moteo club he brought up a point he had about 29 beers tonight and everyone around him had 29 each and he was still standing talking coherently to me about football he said to me something very wise he said they

[00:19:33] lacked a leader out there someone which we talked about yeah and I said to him well there's one coming next year a big New Zealand current New Zealand player yep and I think that this team is going

[00:19:46] to absolutely lift with him around guys like Brailey who was quiet tonight I thought Brailey a couple of good runs but he was quiet got the job done but we need more I think if Noah Blake

[00:19:56] is going to shoot some of these guys through the roof with their careers oh yeah totally agree like what he's going to bring to our pack and now go forward and our momentum and everything that

[00:20:05] comes off the back of that's only going to be good for us so really looking forward to having him start but yeah if we can get these other guys going as well we'll have easily one of the best

[00:20:14] packs in the comp next year so these guys need to start rolling this year and the back end of this year to work out who's saying and what we're doing there like obviously you know Royce

[00:20:24] is not signed yet and has been looking at other options and so we've heard across different media outlets but I want him here and to have him next to a guy like AFB would be so good

[00:20:35] for us so good for us yeah I think that the form is in and we saw it today he played some big minutes to start with I don't know about his total minutes but he played for probably what 18 minutes or so

[00:20:46] at least to start the game which is pretty good for given his history I thought he was great and I think that if he keeps trending that way the starting spot is his with Noah Blake

[00:20:57] and that's a pretty good starting combo yeah and like obviously a guy like Tom Hazard missed out tonight he's got that foot injury he reckons he'll be back next week I was speaking to him on the

[00:21:06] sideline tonight but um yeah like we've got guys like him and big tucks and you know we've got a good pack but these guys need to just be stepping up to that next level if we want to make a real

[00:21:16] push at the back end of this year Daniel says we're going to sign Sam Healy the boy's got a great future and we agree like he's a young superstar on the rise playing lights out for the Jets most

[00:21:29] weeks so we'll have to wait and see on that one I don't have any info on that I'm sure he's sought after yeah and I was thinking about this one Gary it's tough because we've signed Blake

[00:21:40] for long term and he's our guy you have to invest in the future but when do you start doing that when someone like Blake signed for so long like when do you yeah well that's right you don't

[00:21:51] want to have you don't want to have Sam playing Reggie's the next five years that's true isn't it and he obviously wouldn't want to do that either so it's been an interesting situation but I know

[00:22:02] I'm sure whatever happens there will get it right and we'll work through it and yeah as I said like Blake's not that that old and he's got a lot more to give and he's only going to get

[00:22:11] better as the years roll on so we'll see what happens there our Wi-Fi is low our phones are low our spirits are high you got to go home and celebrate your birthday soon yes what do you think

[00:22:23] about the Titans game coming up Gary what's going to happen there yeah they're in some good form obviously the last couple of weeks they've put together some good performances they obviously blew out the Broncos this afternoon um I think they're going to be tough as we mentioned before

[00:22:35] they got strike power across the park they got some really fast outside backs they got some good big forwards um yeah they're going to be tough but we need to go up there and square it up after

[00:22:45] what they did to us in coughs we need to get on top of them from the get-go and you know they really bash us in that first 20 minutes up there so we need to go up there and do the same to them

[00:22:54] absolutely uh Gary I appreciate your time uh it's always precious glad I got you right before your birthday how good is that how good fun fun fun thank you for having me shut cast listeners thanks so much for everything if you're watching that live stream uh we

[00:23:07] apologize we just have some tech stuff going on but it's all good we knew it was going to happen we will speak to everyone during the week can't wait big week in shark lamb and walking into the

[00:23:16] finals can't wait to get there and to get there we're going to have to beat the Titans this week this is Shark Guy's bot for Gary Dover we are signing off right here from Shark Parks

[00:23:27] South so beaten by the sharks I think it was 20 to 6 good night everybody up up

[00:24:13] oh from the sharks with you sharks forever
