Rd 11, 2024 Sharks v Roosters Post Game Review

[00:00:00] Sharks! Sharks!

[00:00:02] Sharks! Sharks!

[00:00:08] Kofiina, Kofiina got the ball!

[00:00:13] Back in the Shire, tell your points lights off because we're coming home with a trophy!

[00:00:20] Hey there, welcome to SharkCast Podcast, dedicated to the greatest sporting club in the history of the world.

[00:00:38] And when I say history of the world, I sure as heck mean it.

[00:00:42] This very short, sharp show is brought to you by Dyson Logistics, the Royal Motor Yacht Club in Port Hacking

[00:00:48] and Jason Hawes of Crips & Crips Real Estate.

[00:00:51] Two thirds of those groups of wonderful companies were up at Suncorp this evening watching the sharks

[00:00:59] defeat the Roosters 38 points to 30 in what was a classic encounter back and forth, toe to toe

[00:01:06] by the true champions, edging out the Roosters 38 points to 30 in a memorable win

[00:01:14] on a memorable run for the team.

[00:01:17] Their top of the table, one loss only.

[00:01:21] Past few weeks they've defeated Melbourne in Melbourne without Nick O'Hines.

[00:01:27] Roosters at Suncorp at Magic Round, a bogey venue for us, somewhat of a bogey round

[00:01:34] and still no Hamla Welle or Toby Rudolph.

[00:01:38] Nick O'Hines did return, had a fantastic game.

[00:01:41] Apologies for the audio.

[00:01:43] I'm travelling in a vehicle.

[00:01:45] Apologies for the voice.

[00:01:47] I'm still suffering things.

[00:01:49] No matter what happens, from here on in this scene has the ability to go all the way

[00:01:54] and I've had a little bit of time since full time to think about that.

[00:01:59] But I knew it already.

[00:02:00] I knew it.

[00:02:01] Weeks ago, I've known it for a while.

[00:02:04] The change in this scene is remarkable.

[00:02:06] They didn't have to do much, they just had to get a bit of a backbone

[00:02:09] and shore up that middle and fix some defensive issues, which they've done.

[00:02:14] They've learned to grind out games and still play fantastic football.

[00:02:19] There's still things to work on.

[00:02:20] I'm getting a little bit worried about that left edge.

[00:02:23] A little bit worried.

[00:02:25] But if that's the biggest worry I have with this team, I can live with it.

[00:02:30] There are teams to be proud of.

[00:02:32] No matter what happens at Shark Park against Penrith.

[00:02:36] If you don't have a ticket for that, I would grab one right now because it'll be sold out any second.

[00:02:41] Whatever happens there, win, lose, draw.

[00:02:44] Sharks have shown they can win on the big stage against the big teams.

[00:02:48] The rugby league world keeps throwing challenges up to this great team

[00:02:53] and they keep knocking down those challenges.

[00:02:56] And tonight wasn't perfect.

[00:02:57] There were some errors in the game, but they played a really good brand yet again.

[00:03:02] Tough, resilient, somewhat flashy football from time to time as well.

[00:03:07] Nico Hines had a fantastic game.

[00:03:09] The one error of kicking out in the full followed by 40-20 in a trius is

[00:03:13] I'm really happy for everyone that got to watch the game live at the ground.

[00:03:17] I know a lot of our Queensland fans.

[00:03:20] They do suffer from seeing this team lose at that stadium in particular.

[00:03:26] And a lot of our fans travel from elsewhere as well, so very happy.

[00:03:30] And it was very noticeable on the coverage the team had.

[00:03:34] I would suggest some of the biggest support this weekend from the travelling team.

[00:03:38] So doing is proud up there, that's for sure.

[00:03:42] Hopefully a lot of clean, safe fun also being had tonight, post game by everyone involved.

[00:03:47] It's hard to get past the leaders in this team.

[00:03:50] Nico Hines, Cam McInnes, Blake Braley,

[00:03:55] guys like that just continue to improve every week.

[00:03:58] We saw some brilliance from Jesse Ramion.

[00:04:01] There were some missed tackles but some absolute brilliance in attack and defence.

[00:04:06] The Roosters are the best attacking team in the comp, so

[00:04:09] I'm not going to lose sleep over the trius that were conceded against us.

[00:04:13] I just hope that we can learn from it.

[00:04:15] It was a feature again in the press conference by Cam McInnes.

[00:04:19] This team of the younger players have been together for a long time in lower grades

[00:04:25] and now in first grade.

[00:04:27] They're learning as they go.

[00:04:29] They're getting better and better.

[00:04:30] They're reaching those 100 game milestones and their love for each other is genuine.

[00:04:37] As soppy as that sounds, it's not an act.

[00:04:41] They're a family unit.

[00:04:43] They play for each other.

[00:04:45] You can see it.

[00:04:46] You can see it this year.

[00:04:48] I would argue you could see it in the past two years under Craig Fitzgibbon.

[00:04:51] In other years gone by, it's not as obvious.

[00:04:55] Doesn't mean it wasn't there but it's not as obvious.

[00:04:58] You can see it with this group.

[00:05:00] They're playing to win for each other.

[00:05:02] Watch how they celebrate the tri's as a mere example, as one small example.

[00:05:10] Watch the talakai tri on the second half.

[00:05:13] That is meaningful.

[00:05:14] That is significant.

[00:05:16] Kyle Ero coming into the centers, allowing talakai to play in the middle of the bench

[00:05:22] is significant.

[00:05:24] It's a great time to be a Sharks fan.

[00:05:25] I don't need to tell you this.

[00:05:27] I would tell you what I'm going to do.

[00:05:29] Lap it up.

[00:05:30] Enjoy it.

[00:05:31] I think we're going to have some really good times ahead.

[00:05:35] I'm still going one week at a time.

[00:05:36] Don't know about you guys and girls but it's all about Penrith now.

[00:05:40] As soon as that siren went, it was about Penrith.

[00:05:42] And I'm pretty sure the team feels the same way.

[00:05:45] They'll keep their egos in check.

[00:05:46] They know they've really, as they keep telling us, they haven't achieved much.

[00:05:50] I would disagree.

[00:05:51] I think coming first, knocking over these teams in other places with that staff players

[00:05:57] I think you're doing a lot.

[00:05:58] Their opinion is a little bit different.

[00:06:00] From what I can tell, no injuries.

[00:06:03] I don't think there's any suspension worries.

[00:06:05] We'll find out Sunday morning.

[00:06:07] Toby won't be back next week.

[00:06:09] Hamlin-Welle, I'm not sure.

[00:06:11] Some great questions being raised by some other Shark cast potters.

[00:06:15] Who makes room for these guys coming in?

[00:06:17] Big Tookoo had more time tonight.

[00:06:19] He was really good.

[00:06:21] Rosie Hunt looking sharp.

[00:06:23] It's hard to change a winning team.

[00:06:25] Not suggesting that Hamlin-Welle and Toby Rudolph do not have their place.

[00:06:28] Because of course they do.

[00:06:30] Of course they do.

[00:06:31] Starting props, Paul Tom Haisleton.

[00:06:34] Try scoring machine, Oregon Kapustee in his 100th NRL game.

[00:06:38] Continue to dominate.

[00:06:40] Now I thought the opening minutes of game, aside from that amazing try we scored,

[00:06:48] I thought the roosters forwards were doing a good job on us.

[00:06:51] Inside our 30 meter zone, doing kick returns, doing restart returns.

[00:06:57] I wouldn't have said that our players were dominating the outage.

[00:07:01] But they won it at the end.

[00:07:02] They got there in the end.

[00:07:03] But I love the way that those two props are starting games.

[00:07:08] It won't be headline grabbing, but they're doing a job.

[00:07:12] Again, apologies to the audio, apologies to the voice.

[00:07:16] I'm looking into the voice.

[00:07:17] We're trying things with the voice.

[00:07:20] All sorts of things with the voice.

[00:07:22] It's a huge week for sharks at Sharkcast Pod this week.

[00:07:27] Penrith at home.

[00:07:29] We've been waiting for this one.

[00:07:30] I couldn't care less who's playing for them and who's not.

[00:07:33] They're going to turn up and want to beat the best team in the comp, which is us.

[00:07:36] They're used to having that spot.

[00:07:38] It's not going to be easy, but we're going to do it.

[00:07:41] Thank you so much everyone who's been in touch.

[00:07:43] All the supporters, I cannot thank you enough for the support of the last episode

[00:07:48] during the week with Josh.

[00:07:49] It's reached a lot of people, so thank you so much.

[00:07:51] And thank you to Josh for his time.

[00:07:54] We're going to be back as soon as we can.

[00:07:56] It just depends on the song, as possible.

[00:07:57] We'll be back as soon as we can.

[00:07:59] You know that.

[00:08:00] All I want to do is talk about the sharks to you people.

[00:08:03] Please know that.

[00:08:05] Until we speak again, take care.

[00:08:07] Enjoy this time.

[00:08:08] Up, up, for now.

[00:08:09] Let's go play the song.

[00:08:19] Up, up, for now.

[00:08:23] The boys in the black, white and blue.

[00:08:27] Up, up, for now.

[00:08:31] Name of the shark's big view.

[00:08:34] Sharks, sharks forever.

[00:08:38] Go out and play without fear.

[00:08:42] Now's the time to see good football.

[00:08:45] For the sharks are here.

[00:08:49] Get set.

[00:09:34] The shark's big view.

[00:09:35] Sharks, sharks forever Go out and play with our feet

[00:09:43] Now's the time to see good football For the sharks are
