[00:00:20] Hey guys and girls Sam Shinaz here, original OG SharkCaster short and sharp episode coming up with

[00:00:42] Gary Dover we talk about the game that was Penrith 42 Sharks NRL just horrific. We recorded a 20-25

[00:00:51] minute episode after the game. We had some issues with the mics, tried to get a bit fancy this week

[00:00:58] the lesson is don't try because the mic leads need replacing so I couldn't salvage the whole

[00:01:05] episode but there's still a bunch in there that I hope you enjoy. We skim in and out of subject

[00:01:11] matters because of the way I had to cut up the episode we're not avoiding conversation about

[00:01:17] players and performances and that kind of thing it's just all I had left to distribute tonight is

[00:01:24] what you hear everything else I couldn't save but there is a bunch on there which you might

[00:01:29] find interesting. We made a whole bunch of jokes about the Chinese restaurant being so incredible

[00:01:34] and we talked about how everything out of my mouth sounds like Seinfeld

[00:01:40] and we had to cut a bunch of it so apologies about that but thought I'd just

[00:01:44] get on the front foot and let you know that we did try really hard and it was really fun doing

[00:01:49] it even though it was so depressing but unfortunately I couldn't save it. I'm going to

[00:01:55] buy some new mic leads it's not a serious problem. Just while I have you here I can let

[00:02:00] you know that I thought it was a really disappointing game. I thought from the get-go

[00:02:06] Penrith had way more energy they were testing the ref and getting away with it and full credit

[00:02:12] to them for that as annoying as that is. We didn't even try and get off our line in a timely manner

[00:02:20] they wrestled, they held us down, they did everything they could and the errors on our

[00:02:26] behalf initially in the first half really cost us the first two tries obviously from errors

[00:02:32] and from there it was just hard to come back 12-0 down I wasn't too worried 18-0 I thought

[00:02:39] it was way too far against a team like Penrith and they just maintained their energy they completed

[00:02:44] sets we had hardly any ball in the opposition half let alone the opposition 20 throughout the

[00:02:52] whole game some of the stats are just horrific as well. The number one thing which annoyed me

[00:02:57] and I think I mentioned it in the review with Gary is that the small things you know

[00:03:04] kick pressure they were kick pressuring Nicko until he had to go off the field we were barely

[00:03:11] doing it and I just thought no one really stood up for us. I thought McInnis was unbelievable

[00:03:18] Sifat tried his guts out when he came on but just no one really in the spine I guess taking

[00:03:25] leadership I know our main guy went off and that was game-changing I would imagine because

[00:03:32] I think if he stays on the field I do think his game improves I don't think he's going to have

[00:03:36] a 80 minute shock or the kicks won't go out in the fall he'll get them right he might set up

[00:03:41] a trial to maybe get back in the game but with Nicko off and down 12-0 I mean it's just

[00:03:47] such an uphill battle against the Premiers and yeah the little things really disappointed me

[00:03:52] just the lack of energy and that kind of thing and I understand they've been up for

[00:03:57] so long maybe this was the one that they fell down on we'll know against the eels

[00:04:01] and Broncos the next two weeks but that's where I kind of saw the loss obviously our go forward

[00:04:08] was not great and I think it shows when the back five are not at their best and tonight they

[00:04:13] weren't in both sides of the ball it shows how difficult it is for our forwards to make

[00:04:23] extra yardage without the backs doing their job and yeah it was it was 80 minutes of

[00:04:32] awfulness I thought like there wasn't a lot of positives for me there I'll have to watch it

[00:04:37] back and try and find some and get something out of it I think the team will get something

[00:04:43] out of it and how not to play that was basic errors really poor defense from those errors

[00:04:50] I can cop Jesse and Sione making errors if we can defend the line and usually we

[00:04:55] would be defending the line amazingly all year tonight it didn't happen I don't know why

[00:05:01] yeah overall just a disappointing night a little worried about Nicko's calf and I think that we

[00:05:08] need some big boys to come back like Toby Rudolph, Braden Hamlin-Welley just on the

[00:05:14] Adam Fennell Blake thing my male is that it's not possible and it's not going to happen so

[00:05:19] unless something changes there you can forget about that idea of Adam coming to the club early

[00:05:25] we will dissect the game more through the week and again apologies about the audio that

[00:05:30] you're about to hear but hopefully what you hear is relative to what you enjoy listening to on

[00:06:46] down I think that was it for me Penriths are too clinical they're too good at what they do

[00:06:51] we missed too many tackles we didn't complete our sets we were rubbish there's a whole lot

[00:06:57] of things that happened but what did you think about the errors early on like it was

[00:07:00] very unlike us uncharacteristic for this year and not fun and not enjoyable to watch and too many

[00:07:06] of them and against a side like Penrith as you see you make one they score you make two they

[00:07:11] score three four and we're 26 points behind heading into a break it's terrible uh Nico Hines

[00:07:17] went off after what about 25 minutes yeah HIA went off his HIA apparently passed it but the

[00:07:23] old calf was a bit tight so they kept him off second half so hopefully it's just some

[00:07:28] tightness and we can have him back out there for Parramatta on Thursday but short turnaround

[00:07:32] hopefully um yeah hopefully he's right so if he's ready for Parramatta he's probably ready for

[00:07:36] origin well I don't think he lost the jersey tonight I know he wasn't good but would they risk

[00:07:42] someone with an injury going into camp and all that when he's not going to train he's not

[00:07:46] going to it's a good point do much it's a good point got to build combos within a week

[00:07:51] really is it worth that risk I'd love to see in there he deserves a jersey I'm not saying

[00:08:23] disappointed me most Gary was the little things like I felt like lack of effort on fifth tackle

[00:08:31] kick pressure that kind of stuff it just felt really flat didn't it like we didn't feel up

[00:08:35] for it they had high energy they were just like from the start fast play the balls getting in

[00:08:41] our face quick meters and we just were on the back foot from the go and we just couldn't

[00:08:45] couldn't get it back but still that's not good enough it wasn't good enough it's definitely

[00:08:49] not good enough but you can't ride off the whole season as some people online are off the back of

[00:08:54] one performance like that gal walked past after the game said that happens you just got to brush

[00:08:59] it off let's go again next week it's like the last two weeks against the storm in Melbourne

[00:09:05] against the roosters at magic ground everyone's buying grand final tickets and celebrating

[00:09:10] everything and then we have one bad performance and everyone's folding like cheap chairs

[00:09:14] aside from can McInnes tell me did anyone else impress you out there not really um

[00:09:19] um no not like i'm not there wasn't anyone that i'd be like they played really well and

[00:09:27] like cam just didn't stop he tackles everything that moves he doesn't stop he barely misses

[00:09:31] a tackle he made 50 plus tackles not sure how many you missed if any but we need 13 more

[00:09:37] cams in defense out there tonight they were slipping off tackles pretty easy i don't think

[00:09:41] we got out played in the first half i think we everything happened off the back of our

[00:09:47] mistake yeah sure sure so tidy that up and where would we have been heading into the break

[00:09:53] i'm not saying we're not going to get 20 points put on us in the first half but if we tidy up

[00:09:58] some of those errors it probably isn't 20 points on us i just realized i'm in a really

[00:10:02] negative mood for the first time ever on this show yeah but you're also going don't give up

[00:10:06] yeah thank you but it's not a good night is it that's been a horrendous night he was trying

[00:10:11] hard that's right there you go there's someone who was trying hard okay but it's just a hot mess

[00:10:18] all around forwards dom that was disappointing and just like wrap the ball up in tackles there's

[00:10:25] that many offers that's where that's the lack of effort there it's lots of little effort

[00:10:31] areas that just compounded and made one hell of a night i wasn't even concerned when we

[00:10:37] went 12 nil down i was a little bit concerned at 18 nil and then next try i was game over if i

[00:10:46] cast my eyes back to four weeks ago i came into this little patch of three games saying

[00:10:53] if we could win two i'd be happy and we won two in a really good fashion i get that so

[00:10:58] i'm not gonna let this those were two of the best best ever absolutely yeah yeah tonight's

[00:11:04] call on was atrocious and not something i ever want to see again yeah my night your kids your

[00:11:10] kids are amazing are they are they annoying up there yeah you're allowed to tell me

[00:11:15] do they run around and like yell and scream or do anything pretty well they're pretty

[00:11:18] bad he doesn't actually his favorite team here we go here we go he's a real green machine fan

[00:11:26] because he loves that song they sing it's a good song yeah he loves it the little rock one

[00:11:30] he makes me play it in the car and i hate it but at the same time because beck plays it for him

[00:11:36] why she likes the cowboys why he likes them all he just loves footy he wants every jersey

[00:11:41] that's nice it's cute but i've got to turn turn him into a sharks fan i can't no i do

[00:11:46] like the chinese food we actually got a taste of it on friday afternoon it was really good

[00:11:51] golden bay golden bay golden bay so it's open now and make sure you're getting there and

[00:11:55] taste it all because it's delicious um i wasn't down there and i didn't venture down there i

[00:12:01] kind of yeah steered clear i'm hoping that it was you know they needed to get told what happened

[00:12:07] and but he's very stern and when someone's he's quiet but you like when he talks he commands

[00:12:14] respect yep and if he's quiet and angry i feel like he'd be having a stern chat absolutely

[00:12:23] if his car like calves linger so i just don't know if it's worth risking it it's worth risking

[00:12:29] it at this point in the season if he gets picked for the blues then they're obviously

[00:12:34] risking it and he'd risk it for the blues but i feel like if he doesn't get picked for the

[00:12:39] blues which i'm not sure why he wouldn't but i feel like we need to manage that calf and

[00:12:43] make sure he doesn't play on a short turnaround like two kicks out on the full not great he

[00:12:49] just never seemed to get in his rhythm there were just a few things off and that was right

[00:12:54] across the park so it's not like an individual thing but yeah there's lots to work on next week

[00:13:00] do you think we came in too confident do you think there was any of that in it yeah it

[00:13:05] was just very unexpected that's probably why it hurt so much i don't mind making the errors

[00:13:10] why are you not defending no other injuries tonight were there t see

[00:13:15] we're going with this yeah that's good i did think uh and this didn't really cost us the game

[00:13:23] i thought the referee was very much lenient with these 10 meters a lot of the 5050s went to

[00:13:34] them and that happens i get that the guys just hit a ref sure i'd be better trying his

[00:13:39] restaurant hey get in there sade chicken's delicious keep your money give me your sweet

[00:13:45] and sour yes look this happens right these things happen i'm glad it's happened now at

[00:13:52] this point in the season and not in a finals game or late when it's going to cost us massively

[00:13:58] but yeah we need to we need to work on a lot of things and hey off the back of the tigers

[00:14:03] game look what we did we sorted ourselves out and went on a run hopefully we can go oh look

[00:14:08] brought back down to earth let's sort out a few things and go back on another run

[00:14:11] in the fitzgibbon era they've really lost back to back a bit of a discussion about i don't know if

[00:14:17] you caught up yet gary but uh i made a joke about valentine's been number three best shot

[00:14:24] time you know you of all people know my whole shtick based on seinfeld yes character ever

[00:14:31] on the show sometimes on that show they say outlandish things and that's what i was doing

[00:14:36] can't tell you who number three is but i mean you know it could be a steve rogers it

[00:14:40] could be a gavin miller it could be someone a bit down the park could be david peachy who we saw

[00:14:45] tonight it could be a mitch healy it could be a whole bunch of people there's lots of options

[00:14:51] lots so yeah i found that interesting i'm getting a lot of mail people saying

[00:14:57] i can't believe you said that how dare you just wanted to clear that up for people listening
