[00:00:00] Hey there, welcome to SharkCastPod, a podcast dedicated to the greatest sporting

[00:00:35] club in the history of the world, the mighty Cronulla Sutherland Sharks.

[00:00:38] This short, sharp winning review is brought to you by Dyson Logistics, the Royal Mody

[00:00:42] Yacht Club in Port Hacking and Jason Hawes at Crips and Crips Real Estate.

[00:00:47] My name is Sam Shinazzi, an OG from 2015 and I'm here to talk briefly to you about

[00:00:53] the glorious Cronulla Sharks winning 22 points to 12 over the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp

[00:00:59] Stadium, our new favourite venue to play at.

[00:01:02] We are currently top of the table, Melbourne is still yet to play this weekend but currently

[00:01:06] top of the table, changing a two game losing streak into a great win tonight.

[00:01:12] Great team effort, some obvious standouts we'll get to but in the general scheme of

[00:01:18] things I am just thoroughly impressed by their performance.

[00:01:22] It was all heart, our forwards outmuscled theirs and everyone else did their job

[00:01:28] and just a tremendous feel good victory.

[00:01:30] I think the fan base needed that, everyone was starting to freak out a little bit and

[00:01:35] this one certainly puts a lot more confidence into us with bigger games.

[00:01:40] You know Brisbane at Suncorp, origin affected absolutely, we were missing the king of

[00:01:44] carrying by Nico Hines, they were missing Rhys Walsh, some of their other origin

[00:01:50] guys are pretty tired so maybe the origin affected games as much as I dislike them,

[00:01:57] maybe it helped us today and I'll take those two points.

[00:02:00] Just a tremendous team victory, 22 points to 12.

[00:02:05] Started out really well Cronulla, running hard, tackling hard, I thought very dominant

[00:02:10] but Brisbane were the first to score through Carrigan, converted try and then not too

[00:02:15] much later about five minutes later we had Italicai try, really nice leading up

[00:02:20] to that with some offloads and him just beating about four guys close to the line.

[00:02:25] Coteuil scored a try for them which was from a kick, quite unlucky with Trindle

[00:02:30] unable to stop the kick, ricochets off him and they score and then in the second half

[00:02:35] it was all Cronulla, they came out so strong, Royce Hunt with the first tackle

[00:02:41] absolutely changing the game in the second half and then Coteuil scored from a scrum

[00:02:47] really just one-on-one stuff but a great step from the Tongan fisherman and he

[00:02:53] scored a lovely try. Trindle scored a great solo try five minutes later and

[00:02:58] then Blake Braley scored in the 51st minute and that kind of cemented the

[00:03:03] game. Trindle got three goals, he missed a few that he really should have got,

[00:03:07] we'll talk about that but overall really strong performance from the

[00:03:11] Sharks. We had close to 60% possession, we ran for 500 more meters,

[00:03:17] we busted 12 more tackles, we had about 200 more post-contact meters, three more

[00:03:23] offloads, they had one more line break. We completed at 35 of 44, they had 32 of

[00:03:31] 39 so pretty high quality game. Tackling opposition 20 was a little

[00:03:35] bit of a worry because it ended up being 35 to 10 but for a while there

[00:03:40] we just couldn't crack them and then they scored from that so that was a

[00:03:43] bit of a concern but it all worked out okay. We missed 21 tackles to their 33 so

[00:03:49] much better defensive effort and really defense and the forwards dominating

[00:03:54] really won us the game. We're getting towards the end of our big

[00:04:01] month of football, we know that we defeated Melbourne, we defeated the

[00:04:05] Roosters, we lost to Penrith really badly, we lost to Parramatta in a game

[00:04:11] that I didn't think was that bad. We beat Brisbane and now we come home on

[00:04:17] Thursday night to the Dolphins before getting a bye. Very important to turn

[00:04:21] this win into a win against the Dolphins but as I said to my friend

[00:04:24] Clinton Maynard let us enjoy this game for five minutes before we

[00:04:28] worry about the next one. Let's go through the team because they all played

[00:04:32] a role in the win tonight. I thought Will Kennedy was outstanding, I

[00:04:39] really did he was so safe and ran the ball back really well. I think at times

[00:04:45] we're looking at him to step up a bit more in attack and I understand that

[00:04:48] but I thought overall he was really good tonight Will Kennedy and I think a

[00:04:53] lot of those kicks were just so well protected by him and he got us off

[00:04:56] to some great starts in the sets and I love what he's doing. I can't believe

[00:05:01] there's any criticism about this guy at the moment but I'm here to say

[00:05:06] Will Kennedy's our guy and I really respect the heck out of him. Both wingers were

[00:05:10] really solid tonight. Sione Katoa ran for about 130 meters, Ronaldo for

[00:05:15] about 170. I should say Will Kennedy had about 120 meters too. Katoa

[00:05:22] important try and some great runs getting us out of our own end.

[00:05:27] Ronnie had a glaring error towards the end but I thought overall he was

[00:05:31] really strong, really good runs. He looked like he was almost playing centers

[00:05:35] at some point particularly in the first half but he wasn't but just sort of

[00:05:40] looked that way watching it and maybe the center had crept outside of him

[00:05:44] but Ronaldo was really great especially with some of those kick

[00:05:48] returns. Jesse Ramian absolutely back to his absolute best defensively

[00:05:52] unbelievable just smashing the wokes and a good game from Jesse I

[00:05:56] thought it was really good comeback from him.

[00:05:59] Kaleiro was great ran really hard some nice defense particularly in the second half

[00:06:03] and I thought a strong game from Kaleiro. Now the halves is an interesting one

[00:06:08] isn't it something we had to debate for weeks on end I think because

[00:06:11] Nico's back in theory as far as we know against the Dolphins so who's

[00:06:15] gonna partner him do you think? There's pros and cons there with who

[00:06:20] you choose. The cons aren't that bad I should point out but I thought

[00:06:25] tonight I thought tonight Atkinson was the better half until Trindle put his

[00:06:32] stamp on the game around the 50th minute mark so tough one to judge between the

[00:06:38] two of them they both played well both did good things both did less than

[00:06:43] good things. Dan Atkinson's passing game needs to be explored a bit more

[00:06:48] because I don't see much of it out there and that's maybe a negative for

[00:06:53] him everything else he does really well and at 100 kilometers an hour and I

[00:06:58] really have grown to really love Dan Atkinson. Really happy to see Trindle

[00:07:03] score that try and he got better as the game went along some good defense

[00:07:08] as well and I think overall a strong return for Trindle not to say it was

[00:07:14] perfect but I thought when we needed him he stood up but who partners Nico

[00:07:19] is the big question that I want to ask you guys and girls get in touch

[00:07:22] at charcastepot.gmail.com or DM us on the socials. Toby Rudolph started the game and he

[00:07:29] was excellent he was excellent all game both since he played in he was

[00:07:33] great and I thought Toby Rudolph really got us off on the front foot really

[00:07:38] happy to see that. Blake Braley I thought overall had a strong game not

[00:07:42] perfect by any means but some nice elusive running and some good defense

[00:07:47] when needed a few things in there we can work on but I thought overall

[00:07:52] Blake was strong. Kufusi did his job I know there was an error towards the end

[00:07:55] of the game but Kufusi did his job started well the stats aren't amazing

[00:08:00] but he did his job. I also like the idea of Tom Hazleton off the bench

[00:08:04] giving him a bit of a break from the week to week starting grind of NRL

[00:08:09] football. Britton Nicara I thought again more of an unhappy game than a

[00:08:14] happy game just a few things in there we need to fix up particularly

[00:08:19] discipline wise otherwise I thought he was fine but I would like to see him

[00:08:23] run the ball a bit more. Sifataleke one of the best out there just so

[00:08:28] dominant and every time he gets the ball the opposition gets scared the

[00:08:32] fans of the Sharks cheer and just a huge fan of Sifataleke and wherever he

[00:08:37] plays in the team he's gonna give you everything he's got really cool

[00:08:40] interview with him on Fox afterwards as well you should check out. Captain

[00:08:43] Cam McInnes I mean what more can we say about this guy he is just

[00:08:48] such a great leader and he played his heart out again today after playing his

[00:08:54] heart out for his state on Wednesday and I love everything about Cam and I'm just

[00:08:58] so happy that he's sort of getting the accolades that he deserves from

[00:09:01] the wider public and he played great again tonight just so direct he

[00:09:05] straightens that lineup tackles everything that moves and just a top

[00:09:10] top fella well done Cam we appreciate your efforts man. Good bench

[00:09:15] Jack Williams had a few errors tonight but still ran hard played hard

[00:09:19] criticize him all you want but he brings a lot to this team. Royce Hunt

[00:09:24] changed the game make no mistake about that Royce Hunt changed the game

[00:09:29] he's been good form for the past three four weeks and you know whether

[00:09:34] it's got anything to do with him being allegedly shopped around which I

[00:09:38] don't think he's even close to true but if he plays like that he'll be

[00:09:43] starting games with Fenua Blake next year forget about bench or 18th man

[00:09:48] absolutely dynamite form I hope he doesn't go anywhere especially with that

[00:09:52] sort of form and good on him for turning around some I would say not

[00:09:58] average form but just being the beast that he can be like tonight is what

[00:10:02] he can be it was fantastic to see. Big 2Q didn't get a lot of time but

[00:10:06] he had some dominant runs and he was a presence out there for a short time

[00:10:10] love what he does and Billy Burns did not make the field but he was the 18th

[00:10:15] man celebrating hard on the sideline the opening you know 15 20 minutes after

[00:10:22] the second half really changed the game and again Royce Hunt and the

[00:10:26] forward pack really dominated superb effort all-round really happy for the

[00:10:30] team for the coach for the fans for the Brisbane fans especially and if you

[00:10:35] don't have a ticket for the Thursday night against the Dolphins get one

[00:10:38] get down there if you can of course if you can't do what you gotta do but it's

[00:10:42] gonna be great atmosphere and this team is coming first we've lost three

[00:10:47] games all year so whilst there are things to improve on I don't think we

[00:10:52] can fault the effort generally speaking as you can tell I'm really

[00:10:56] excited straight off the game and got a million things to do but I

[00:11:00] wanted to jump on and do this for our listeners and for myself on behalf

[00:11:07] of all the other shark cast potters stay tuned we've got a lot planned for you

[00:11:11] guys and girls we'll most likely speak to you next on Monday morning if

[00:11:15] Kieran's free hopefully he is I've been checked with him but he's fired up

[00:11:20] as well because I've been messaging with him all night so take care enjoy

[00:11:23] first place until at least Sunday let's keep winning it's fun I think

[00:11:28] this could be a special year up up baby I'm gonna play the song now

[00:11:43] the boys in the black white and blue

[00:11:47] up up

[00:11:49] branda

[00:11:55] sharks sharks forever

[00:11:59] go out and play without fear
