[00:00:59] It was terrible to begin with but nice to end with.

[00:01:01] As you said, we were chatting off line before and you said everything we could do wrong.

[00:01:06] We did in the first 20 minutes and we fell apart and 18-0 down.

[00:01:10] I thought it was going to get pretty ugly but that word keeps creeping back.

[00:01:13] That grit and that resilience.

[00:01:14] We didn't drop our heads.

[00:01:16] We just went about our business and got to work.

[00:01:18] There was a lot of questions asked about a few of the young boys who named inside this week

[00:01:22] and they all stood up so it was great to see.

[00:01:25] Yeah, we don't have time now to dissect the entire thing completely but it has to be said

[00:01:30] it was next man up and they all lifted.

[00:01:33] We will address the opening of the game during the week but let's stick to the positives

[00:01:38] right now.

[00:01:39] Our middles.

[00:01:40] However you want to define that.

[00:01:43] At the moment we're defining Dan Atkinson as a middle and it was clear as soon as he came

[00:01:46] on he was playing that roving lock role not jerking responsibilities.

[00:01:52] Guys like him, Cam McKinnis she just told me play 80 minutes.

[00:01:56] Jack Williams changed the game coming on after Dan Atkinson I think and for a team missing

[00:02:04] six forwards.

[00:02:06] I thought we did pretty good.

[00:02:08] Yeah I thought we did really well and you know it told Tommy Hazleton and Oregon Confuci

[00:02:12] starting the game in the front row there.

[00:02:13] I thought they did really well to stand up to guys like Papalini and Joseph Tapene.

[00:02:17] I thought we did a really good job.

[00:02:19] Yeah as you said controlling the middle and you know that's probably where a lot of

[00:02:22] the questions were asked during the week like how are our middles going to stand up

[00:02:25] and they did exactly what they needed to do albeit not for the first 20 minutes but I think

[00:02:29] there's a lot of positives that we can look to build upon based off the back end of that

[00:02:32] game.

[00:02:33] Well I wouldn't even say the middles didn't do their job in opening 20 I just thought

[00:02:36] it was a whole it was clumsy that pushing passes it was just it just was everything

[00:02:41] we didn't want to do they did and Camber up if you didn't see it for yourself at the

[00:02:46] game hopefully it was evident on TV they're not much they're not much aside from their physicality

[00:02:52] and they're getting through their sense there's not much there so move down 18 Nila wasn't

[00:02:56] overly worried I didn't think we could see it anymore but down 18 Nila trended with a

[00:03:00] really great solo try aggressively putting the ball down set in the tone Niko kicking everything

[00:03:06] and two of them and they all lifted like Jesse Rammy had a pretty horrible first 10 minutes

[00:03:11] lifted like was great fantastic you mentioned telekite just playing all over the table

[00:03:16] the shop my big guy took I've learned how to say his name took sensational like sensational

[00:03:23] short stint but just every man lifted it was a really great to see it was a fun fun experience

[00:03:30] of the ground the crowd really lifted yeah it was really good atmosphere tonight and you

[00:03:33] know the crowd started to get into it especially in the back end of the game there and you

[00:03:36] know as tuxed during the week like that sort of thing lifts the boys and you could really

[00:03:39] hear it you could feel it and it was something that probably brought us home a lot better

[00:03:42] than we probably could have if everyone stayed a bit silent like we tend to do sometimes

[00:03:46] yeah I'm wondering what happens if it's at another ground I'm not saying we don't come

[00:03:50] back because as I said we're a much better team in camera but thankfully we were here

[00:03:55] and the team lifted responded I thought I thought our spine was really good Blake Brailly

[00:04:01] was top man he was getting penalties restarts running the ball it's got to try yeah I thought

[00:04:08] Nika returned to some really good form as well and it was a real for a team missing six

[00:04:14] forwards there's a real physicality what we did yeah that's probably the big thing for

[00:04:18] me is like that physicality you talk about like when we were down 18 nil some of the shots

[00:04:22] we were putting on those guys at horseburn that they're losing the ball with the physicality

[00:04:26] that we had and we started to build upon that and build upon that and then off the back

[00:04:30] of our strong defense now strong resilience we got the ball and we did what we needed to

[00:04:35] do with it and scored some points a dummy half try the whole world saw coming that's not

[00:04:39] bad defense that's just I guess I don't want to use this way but it's sort of lazy or

[00:04:44] or you're not ready for it but it's not bad defense like they it's not like they can't

[00:04:48] read that out of all the tries they scored I just thought maybe one maybe the one towards

[00:04:52] end maybe we read bad but I didn't think that defense was bad in the opening 20 minutes

[00:04:57] it's just the ball handling we just couldn't hold on to that ball so once we started doing

[00:05:04] that it all worked fine what did the coach say yeah why did it take so long for us to figure

[00:05:09] out what we needed to do basically in a nutshell but yeah like he's not happy about how we started

[00:05:14] but he obviously can see that we've got a lot of growth and there's that grit and resilience

[00:05:19] that they're trying to build throughout the preseason that's starting to show in a few of these

[00:05:22] wins and it's something to build upon especially with this tough period we've got coming up after

[00:05:25] the bite there's a few teams in there that we really need to lift against and we get a few guys

[00:05:29] back obviously Bradenham and Wellay and Brett will be back so you know they're two big ins for us

[00:05:34] that'll shore up the middle and you know guys missing out probably deserve to be there at the moment

[00:05:39] so it's a good problem to have but yeah we're interesting to see how we line up moving forward.

[00:05:43] I mean playing against Papalihi, Tepini two of the better forwards in the NRL and we pretty much

[00:05:51] own them like they didn't have bad games but we own them the offload was killing us a little bit

[00:05:58] but again that was managed well in the second half I thought as soon as we went into the shed's

[00:06:03] level I knew the coach would do enough to instruct them to bring him home like it wasn't

[00:06:11] it wasn't hard what to say right yeah well that's it you knew exactly what you did wrong and how

[00:06:15] to fix it and there was all on us to do that and I think we came out and showed what we can do when

[00:06:19] we hold the ball and we don't make these silly errors that kind of kill our momentum and kill our own

[00:06:23] moving forwards so yeah I think it's a four point game it's a massive win like heading into a

[00:06:29] buy rest up a few blocks and everyone get fresh and then as I said we've got a big period coming

[00:06:34] up so it's going to be switch on and as they all said in the shed just then like enjoy these

[00:06:38] few days off but when we get back it's nothing but hard work like we've got to get out there and

[00:06:42] rip it in. Yeah so we go into the buy three and one so three and one to buy which is a good place

[00:06:48] to be obviously we should have won last week we didn't moving on but yeah a really good night at

[00:06:54] Shark Park it'll be quite a memorable one for a while like just to be down 18 nil come back in that

[00:06:59] fashion it got quite emotive like the crowd and the boys there's been a niggle but I really like

[00:07:05] you know they're really taking the heart this whole tom petty thing like they're not back and down

[00:07:09] like we saw Nico Hans pushing guys around I saw Blake Braille pushing guys around and they're not

[00:07:14] starting it they're just saying what are you doing yeah they're not taking it backwards set which

[00:07:17] is exactly what we kind of miss last year a little bit here and there I think it's good to see

[00:07:21] it you know there was nothing dirty it's nothing aggressive it's just like I'm here to play the

[00:07:25] game and you're not going to walk all over me which is great. And a guy like Ronaldo Miltalo who

[00:07:30] had a phenomenal game a couple of areas here but just a phenomenal game I'm seeing the maturity in

[00:07:35] his game four weeks in like there were times tonight when he could have exploded with that crazy

[00:07:40] stuff that he does he didn't do it he reigned it in and I think that must be something that's

[00:07:45] happened in the offseason hopefully last all year but um our wing is rumble evil I thought we'll

[00:07:50] can't eat a great game like some of the kicks from uh the camber halves in particular were spiraling

[00:07:58] yeah testing definitely there's that massive one in the second half and I was just like how

[00:08:02] are these wheels going to catch this but he's good old wheels say for his houses yeah great

[00:08:07] stuff guys I'm super excited about that win uh what's happening next we'll be our next

[00:08:12] uh rabbit os at a core after the buy which will be an interesting game obviously they've had a

[00:08:17] bit of a slow start and they probably need to find a few wins and they found a good one this week but

[00:08:21] yeah it's going to be another tough challenge for us I'm sure the boys will be up for it

[00:08:25] yeah definitely that'll be good for us coming off a buy as well get get some troops back

[00:08:29] Brits coming back hopefully Hamlin well he and you know give the coach a bit to think about you know

[00:08:35] we talked about guys lifting and a guy who for whatever reasons a bit maligned in our superstar squad

[00:08:43] I thought Billy Burns had a really strong game did nothing wrong took some really hard hit ups

[00:08:48] that no one else wanted yeah that's what we're talking about with next man up and that's what he was

[00:08:52] brought for like he didn't I know he wasn't on there very long but he didn't put a foot wrong yeah

[00:08:57] he did exactly what he needed to do and we've seen that over the last couple of weeks like the guys

[00:09:00] that are coming in they know exactly what their role is and they know how to do it and they're getting

[00:09:04] out there and doing exactly what they need to do so yeah good start to the year in many ways

[00:09:09] and you know there's lots to work on in another sense so it's we're in a good spot and there's plenty

[00:09:13] of growth to be had but I'm pretty excited by what we're probably capable of this year looking at

[00:09:19] you know where we've been behind in a couple of games we've got some grit and resumes that we

[00:09:23] didn't have last year and we've still got a bit of points in us when we need them yeah calm heads

[00:09:27] prevailed today like you could see like as we got into the game Niko in particular let us

[00:09:33] around really well off the back of some good forwards can't go watch that game again can we

[00:09:39] get us Jack Williams Jack was massive Jack's been massive for us to start the year every game
