[00:00:00] SharkCast! SharkCast! SharkCast! SharkCast!

[00:00:09] Fafina got the ball back in the Shire.

[00:00:17] Tell you what, slide jump because we're coming home with a trophy.

[00:00:30] Hey there, welcome to SharkCast Pod, a podcast dedicated to the greatest sporting club in

[00:00:36] the history of the world, the mighty Cronulla Sutherland Sharks.

[00:00:39] This short sharp review of the Canberra V Cronulla game in Canberra, Sunday 4 PM is brought to

[00:00:45] you by Dyson Logistics, the Royal Moteo Yacht Club in Port Hacking and Jason Hawes at

[00:00:49] Crips and Crips Real Estate.

[00:00:51] My name is Sam Shnazian-Ogee from 2015 10th Season of podcasting and it's a good year.

[00:00:59] Podcasts going good, the Sharks are going even better.

[00:01:02] They are at the top of the table going into Derby Week.

[00:01:06] Hello everyone, it's Derby Week, that's a whole other matter we'll get into.

[00:01:10] The Sharks winning 40 points to NRL, dominant display is the scoreline suggests and tough

[00:01:17] opening 20 minutes they went set for set with the Raiders though both had perfect sets

[00:01:21] for about 20 minutes.

[00:01:23] Quite remarkable and the Sharks then put on some tries, kept defending really well,

[00:01:30] put out of there with a really good result in what's been an absolutely tough week for

[00:01:33] the club.

[00:01:34] Dale Finucan retiring early, Braden Trindall with his issues off the field as well coming

[00:01:41] to light and Dan Eccleston coming in on short notice and playing a good game as well.

[00:01:48] So a difficult week for the Sharks but ended up being a great result, one that

[00:01:52] everyone can be very proud of, not too much to criticise that's for sure.

[00:01:56] I can tell you it's our biggest win over Canberra, it's our second biggest win outside of NSW

[00:02:03] and our fourth biggest away win.

[00:02:06] So quite remarkable, I thought we would win the game, I didn't think we'd win by that

[00:02:10] much.

[00:02:11] It does show you where Canberra is at and I think it shows a wear out as well.

[00:02:16] I don't mean to talk down about the performance, the performance was fantastic, really strong

[00:02:21] performance.

[00:02:22] Raiders were no good.

[00:02:25] They were competent for 20 minutes but really didn't throw much at us.

[00:02:30] But we can only play who we play and another great dominant performance from the Sharks.

[00:02:35] In the 13th minute McKinnis scored a try under the post after some offloads close to the

[00:02:41] line.

[00:02:42] We then had some great sets after that try and tall Tom Hazelton scored under the post.

[00:02:47] Sharks lead 12-0.

[00:02:48] 23rd minute both teams have perfect sets.

[00:02:52] 24th minute Nico Heinz chases down Danny Levi who just drops the ball cold.

[00:02:58] But some good urgency showed there from Nico Heinz.

[00:03:01] 26th minute the Sharks can smell blood.

[00:03:05] Katoa scores a try 18-0.

[00:03:08] As a couple of interesting kicks from Nico Heinz in the 5th tackle but it's as bad

[00:03:11] as controversial as this episode is going to get, we go to the Shads at half time

[00:03:15] 18-0.

[00:03:16] In the 44th minute, Will Kennedy with an amazing tricep.

[00:03:21] One of the best you'll ever see.

[00:03:22] And a perfect example of how far Will Kennedy has come with his defense and the Sharks as

[00:03:27] well.

[00:03:28] Great tricep from Will Kennedy.

[00:03:29] On the back of that Nico to Nico try 24-0.

[00:03:35] Then 10 minutes later Nico with a great 40-20.

[00:03:38] And then he runs himself and scores a try, converts it's 30-0 after 55.

[00:03:44] Nico then stops an attacking play on our line with an intercept.

[00:03:48] And then Katoa is set up by Britain and Jesse to score 36-0.

[00:03:54] 75th minute a great run from Kail Eero down the middle.

[00:03:59] That results in Nico to Jesse with a great try.

[00:04:03] Nico misses a goal.

[00:04:05] Finally at the end of the game he misses a goal.

[00:04:07] Sharks win 40 points to Niel.

[00:04:10] At the stats we had 300 more run meters.

[00:04:14] We had 20 more tackle busts.

[00:04:17] We had 6 more offloads.

[00:04:19] Line breaks were at 10-1.

[00:04:21] Cronella making 9 more line breaks.

[00:04:24] Completions ended up 32 of 39 and tackled in the opposition 20 only 22 tackles for

[00:04:29] us here.

[00:04:30] We still scored 40 points.

[00:04:32] The Raiders were tackled in our 20 37 times we didn't concede.

[00:04:36] We missed 29 tackles compared to their 50.

[00:04:39] We conceded 7 penalties to their 2.

[00:04:41] And as I said, Nico Hines with a great 40-20 as well.

[00:04:45] I think what impressed me most was in the period after the 20 minutes where we were

[00:04:52] starting to look pretty dominant.

[00:04:53] I think it was 12-0 and we just didn't stop.

[00:04:55] We just kept going set for set and running down that line and we scored a try.

[00:05:01] It looked like we were going to score 400 more tries and that wasn't meant to

[00:05:05] be but there was an energy there that I haven't seen for a long time in a Cronella

[00:05:09] team.

[00:05:10] Alright, I mean as you can tell my voice is a little bit croaky at the moment.

[00:05:13] I have to fix that up but looking at the team that played today, Will Kennedy

[00:05:19] and other standout performance.

[00:05:20] The back five were unbelievable.

[00:05:22] Commentators on Fox were talking about it.

[00:05:24] They were 100% correct.

[00:05:26] Back five carried us forwards in the opening 20 and it wasn't even like the

[00:05:30] forwards were being lazy or anything.

[00:05:32] The back five just were basically playing like forwards which we've seen them do

[00:05:35] of course.

[00:05:37] So I wasn't surprised but they were really dominant.

[00:05:40] Will Kennedy 130 meters, one line break assist, one try assist and really

[00:05:45] another strong game from Will Kennedy.

[00:05:47] Sione Catoa with two tries 170 meters, two line breaks and Ronaldo

[00:05:53] Militalo another standout performance 180 meters.

[00:05:57] Both wingers really playing lights out.

[00:06:00] Safe under the high ball, good defensively.

[00:06:03] Their attack is just as strong as it has ever been.

[00:06:07] Militalo was put on a report in the second half for a I guess a late

[00:06:12] slash high shot.

[00:06:13] We'll see what comes out of that hopefully nothing.

[00:06:15] Jesse Raimi and the quiet achiever.

[00:06:18] Big wraps from the media today about his performance as it should be one try.

[00:06:23] 184 meters, a try assist two line breaks.

[00:06:27] Really good performance from Jesse Raimi another great performance

[00:06:30] and a great year for him.

[00:06:32] Kail Iro 190 meters yet again most meters for the Sharks.

[00:06:37] Didn't put a foot wrong Kail Iro.

[00:06:39] Dan Atkinson at 5 eighth playing his first full game of NRL.

[00:06:45] He ran for 100 meters and he kicked for about 115 and he played

[00:06:49] a very simple game but did it very well and I was very happy for him.

[00:06:54] I think moving forward when we play the more superstar teams,

[00:06:59] we're going to need to see more out of him because it can't just be all Niko.

[00:07:02] It can't be falling back on Blake and Will.

[00:07:05] It's got to be the 5 eighth helping out as well.

[00:07:08] Not to say he didn't help out today.

[00:07:10] He was great, but we will need more moving forward

[00:07:13] and I think you'll see it if you only get better.

[00:07:16] A very strong performance from Dan Atkinson given the situation and the scenario.

[00:07:22] Niko Hines, the man of the match one try 111 meters in runs,

[00:07:27] kicked for 440 meters.

[00:07:29] Two try assists, very busy from Niko Hines.

[00:07:31] Couple of shonky kicks.

[00:07:33] We can live with that because overall a very, very strong man in the match performance.

[00:07:39] And just one that we needed from him, he stepped up.

[00:07:41] As I said, I don't know if he can be the guy to do it every week

[00:07:44] because then he becomes the target of the teams every week.

[00:07:47] But he's playing really good football.

[00:07:50] Tall Tom Hazleton, another try for the young man, ran for 100 meters.

[00:07:55] Just keeps on doing what he does and I love it.

[00:07:57] Absolutely love it.

[00:07:58] Oregon Kofusi, another breakout game from him.

[00:08:01] It's not the stats that I'm reading.

[00:08:03] It's the way he's doing it very strong and solid to open the game.

[00:08:07] 100 meters, a try assist and just very sturdy and strong.

[00:08:12] Criticism last year was that he went missing in games this year.

[00:08:16] He's playing really good, really happy for him.

[00:08:18] Britain Nicarag with a try and a line break assist.

[00:08:24] Very typical Britain game.

[00:08:27] Strong, smashing guys in defense, dangerous in attack.

[00:08:31] T. Wilton had a really good game.

[00:08:33] A few errors in there, but ran for 140 meters.

[00:08:36] Close to scoring some tries and a very reliable back row after the Sharks.

[00:08:43] Such a physical presence to what he does.

[00:08:45] I love it.

[00:08:46] Cam McInnis with the first try ran for 100 meters.

[00:08:49] Presence in the middle throughout the day when he was on the field.

[00:08:52] You saw the interview afterwards where he was bruised and battered as per

[00:08:56] Great captain's knock while on Cam McInnis.

[00:08:59] The bench's numbers are not outstanding, but the performance they did was really good.

[00:09:04] The game was never really in doubt, so it wasn't like they had to come on

[00:09:06] and win the game for the Sharks.

[00:09:08] But Jack Williams, another great effort.

[00:09:11] Talakai in his short stints.

[00:09:13] They're very physical and they can be game changing, actually, if given the right scenario.

[00:09:20] Hamlin Welley looked great again in the short stints that he had.

[00:09:23] He's building up and it'll take some time to get to where he was.

[00:09:27] But full faith in the way he's playing his hit ups are really strong.

[00:09:31] And Tsukuhitesapua only had a short time out there, but I really like his presence.

[00:09:36] I really do.

[00:09:38] I think he's making it hard for some guys to get back into the team.

[00:09:41] Whether he plays much more this year or not when everyone's fit, I don't know.

[00:09:44] Obviously Toby Rudolph missed the game and he came in for Toby Rudolph.

[00:09:49] But he beat out a couple of guys who were in the wings waiting to come up.

[00:09:54] So he's obviously next to go for the moment, which is very interesting.

[00:09:59] The Sharks sit top of the table.

[00:10:01] Derby Week is here.

[00:10:03] It's an exciting week.

[00:10:04] Shane Flanagan has already put out lots of bombs that are flaming up all around us.

[00:10:09] I know it's annoyed a lot of people, but you know what?

[00:10:12] Just let him be. Let him do it.

[00:10:13] And if they happen to somehow win the game, all's fair, right?

[00:10:17] If he doesn't win the game, we can let him know about it.

[00:10:20] It's all fair. It's fun.

[00:10:22] Derby's serious, but we have to have our fun as well.

[00:10:25] I actually really liked him throwing it down.

[00:10:28] I wasn't offended really.

[00:10:30] I sort of raised my eyes after conceding 60 points, whatever it was from them.

[00:10:35] But it's going to be good one.

[00:10:36] It's going to be fiery.

[00:10:37] There'll be more words spoken during the week.

[00:10:39] I would imagine from both camps.

[00:10:40] I don't think Fitz, you're going to do it, but you might hear other people do so.

[00:10:44] And if you haven't got a ticket, there's not too many left.

[00:10:47] So grab a ticket, get down there for the Derby.

[00:10:50] And most importantly, aside from embarrassing that club,

[00:10:53] we just want to win the game and keep marching on at the top of the table.

[00:10:57] The higher up you are at the end of the year, the better your chances.

[00:11:01] And we've got a really good team.

[00:11:02] And it's important to note we haven't really had a fit team for too many weeks

[00:11:07] this year yet we still keep winning.

[00:11:10] Only that one blemish at Leicart.

[00:11:12] After the drags, there's a tough run.

[00:11:14] We know about it. If you don't know about it, look at you draw.

[00:11:17] It's going to be interesting.

[00:11:19] There is a lot of talk this week now about

[00:11:22] how well we're doing and the opposition we faced.

[00:11:24] I know what annoys people.

[00:11:26] There's not much you can do about it as a fan.

[00:11:29] Enjoy where you are. You're coming first.

[00:11:31] With the only team sitting top of the table this week

[00:11:34] and last week, the week before, it's a great place to be.

[00:11:36] We've earned it. Really strong wins.

[00:11:39] And a lot of the people saying what they're saying are right.

[00:11:41] Like we haven't faced amazing opposition and we will be soon.

[00:11:46] So let's hope that's where we are now

[00:11:49] and the build we're going to have against the dragons

[00:11:51] gets us to the next level where we can win those games.

[00:11:54] And the only way to silence people is to keep winning games.

[00:11:57] And that's what we got to do. I believe we'll do it.

[00:12:00] It's a little bit more difficult without Trindle there.

[00:12:03] I'm not going to just paint over that one.

[00:12:07] But as I said, Atkinson went well today.

[00:12:10] Simple game plan. I liked it.

[00:12:12] He was definitely useful.

[00:12:14] He wasn't just coasting out there,

[00:12:16] but I'll be interested to see how the game develops for him.

[00:12:20] If it does at all, maybe it doesn't. Maybe that's maybe that's his role.

[00:12:24] If he does it as well as he did today,

[00:12:26] we're going to be a good shot of beating these teams.

[00:12:28] I'm going to go get some lemon tea from my voice back at it

[00:12:32] for all our listeners as soon as we can.

[00:12:34] The mail is already coming in.

[00:12:35] Don't hesitate to be in touch.

[00:12:37] Sharkkastpodger email dot com DMS on our socials.

[00:12:41] And we will definitely get to those until we talk to you next.

[00:12:45] I'm going to play the song because we won and we are awesome.

[00:12:49] Up up, let's go.

[00:12:57] Up up, granola.

[00:13:01] The boys in the black, white and blue.

[00:13:05] Up up, granola.

[00:13:09] Name of the sharks bit you.

[00:13:13] Sharks, sharks forever.

[00:13:16] Go out and play with our feet.

[00:13:20] Now's the time to see good football.

[00:13:24] For the sharks are here.

[00:13:40] Up the sharks bit you.

[00:14:14] Sharks, sharks forever.

[00:14:18] Go out and play with our feet.

[00:14:21] Go out and play with our feet.

[00:14:24] Now's the time to see good football.

[00:14:27] For the sharks are here.
