[00:01:04] Hey there, welcome to SharkCast Pod, a podcast dedicated to the greatest sporting club in the history of the world, the mighty Cronulla Sutherland Sharks. Coming off a 52-10 demolition of the West Tigers and aren't we so glad that that happened. Now, this is Team List Tuesday, brought to you by Dyson Logistics, the Royal Motor Yacht Club and Port Hacking and Jason Hawes at Crips & Crips Real Estate. I'm Sam Shinazzi, OG 2015, podcasting for 12 years.
[00:01:32] Glorious years to me, personally, and having a great time doing it, that's for sure. We can't wait to see the Team List against South Sydney. Big game coming up, gonna be a huge one. Good afternoon to Joe, the Vinyl Junkie. This won't surprise you when I'm gonna appear on the camera for people listening. I'll describe it to you on our podcast feed. Here it comes. Mr. Paisley's still nice and warm.
[00:01:59] Thank you very much, Joe, for joining us on this great afternoon. And I had Joe's company in the game. That was a lot of fun too. And his much better half, Nicole. And Will. Anyway, we're here to talk about Team List. It's gonna be a fun one. I can tell you that we have got good recent form against the Rabbitohs. We have won the past five. So we're gonna go for six for just the third time in our history. And yeah, can't wait for it. 5.30 Saturday.
[00:02:27] There is another episode coming out this afternoon, this evening, with some interviews with Nico Hines, interviews with Billy Burns, interview with Sam Stonestreet. So I got to speak to those three guys individually. Fun chats, good chats, serious chats. And appreciate their time for sure. Blessed. Blessed to see some other stuff around the club today. Training and that kind of stuff. And they look good. The team looks good.
[00:02:54] And they look like they're, at least today, ready to play South Sydney, which is pretty exciting. There might be some points. We're hoping it won't be a shootout. Because South scored 38 and lost, which is so rare. So I want to keep those points to a minimum. But it'll be the battle of the left edges. But we'll get to that throughout the week on a bunch of episodes. That's for sure. So we are probably a few minutes away from the team list. We usually get a little bit early, which is great.
[00:03:24] We'll keep you up to date on what's going on there. Once that team list is out, I'll tell you a little bit about what I know about injuries and that kind of stuff. But there's a lot to report, to be honest. Joe is saying Sione is out for two to four weeks. He's walking around pretty good. So hopefully it's not more than that. There's not any noticeable kind of limp there. Ash, who I disclaimer was hanging out with before, said there might be a surprise in for the Sharks.
[00:03:53] Ooh, might there be my friend. Hello to Nathan, who joined us on the post game show, which was awesome of you. Thank you very much. It is a big week for the Sharks. We want to keep rolling on. Not a lot of talk about the win on the weekend in the press that I saw yesterday, like it was mentioned here or there, but it was more about the West Tigers, which I understand. I would have thought we would have got a bit more praise for, especially for that good defense, particularly in the second half.
[00:04:21] Steven said, NRL physio said Calhoun was out. Don't know if it's true. Well, we'll find that out really soon. I did see him today and he was participating in things. So if he's out, we shall see. Now I haven't got my big light on. So this is kind of a more rock and roll mood at four o'clock in the afternoon, but I can live with that. That's fine. If you can, if I put on now, it might just get a bit weird. So we'll leave it off. Yeah. Certainly appreciate you all jumping on every Tuesday. Now it's getting to be a regular thing, which is kind of fun.
[00:04:50] It's not really about the team list. Of course it is. But also we just get to have a chat. If you guys and girls have any questions, et cetera, we can chat or opinions. Um, we did a fun episode with Kieran yesterday, which hopefully you've tuned into or watched. If you haven't, please go do so, uh, range of subjects, but we really honed down on the spine and we have a bit of a difference of opinion there, but then we sort of want to get to the same place. So it's quite a good chat that is on all podcast. That's it's on the YouTube.
[00:05:19] Sarah says, good day, Sam. Good day to you. The score on the weekend was fantastic. I'll stop it. The new haircut is looking sharp. Thank you very much. It's funny when you don't get your haircut very often, like twice a year or whatever, that becomes a deal. And I understand that. And I appreciate that. Thank you. You're very kind to client. In fact, the score on the weekend was fantastic. A lot of fun being there for everyone that was there. And I'm sure just as much fun for people watching or listening on the wireless.
[00:05:49] So we're going to homebush. The bad news about homebush is we don't have a good record against South at homebush. Make it out what you will. I know a lot of you don't really buy into that kind of past history, but we've won just two of 10 against the rabbitos at homebush. We did win the last game though in 2024 around six clash. So, you know, don't buy too much into it, but that's a factual fact. If that is such a word, you know what? Why don't we read out the team list? Here we go. Drum roll, please.
[00:06:23] The team to play the South Sydney rabbitos is the very informed Will Kennedy at fullback. Marwini Herotti, Sam Stone Street named on the wings. Your centers named are Sifitalakai and KL Iro. Your halves are Braden Trindle and Nico Hines. Props, Fanua Blake, Toby Rudolph, Captain Blake Braley at hooker.
[00:06:48] Your back row is Britton Nickara, Teague Wilton and Cam McInnes. Your immediate bench, NRL physio, is Jesse Colquhoun, Billy Burns, Oregon Kafusi and Tom Hazleton. Next reserves in 18 are Hojepa Puru. 19 is Braden Welle. Extended bench of Riley Jones, Nephi Puru and Chris Fiella. So there you go.
[00:07:18] That's what's been named this week. I would suggest to you, Ronaldo is still obviously a week away, but they're talking magic round. Ronaldo looks exceptional. We'll get to that in a little bit, but that is your team and it looks as per, right? You want to correct me on that, but it looks as per from last week, at least one to 17. For South Sydney, Jai Gray is back at fullback. Oh boy. Alex Johnston on one wing, Edward Cossie on the other. Edward Cossie.
[00:07:47] Latrell Mitchell and Campbell Graham in the centers. Cody Walker and Ashton Ward are your halves. Colin Matangi, Sean Kepi are their props. Bronson Garlick is the hooker. Back row of Ewan Aitken, Talis Duncan and Cam Murray. Very hard working mobile back row there. Their immediate bench, this is interesting. Matt Dufty is number 14. For those tired defenses, which won't be ours.
[00:08:14] Lockie Hubner, Jamie Humphries, Tavita Tola and Peter Mazmazelos. So four slash five man bench is Dufty, Hubner, Humphries, Tatola and Mazmazelos. So that's a mostly mobile smaller pack. Adam Elliott as well in 19. And you've got Liam LeBlanc, Moella Graham Taufer and Tom Fletcher on the extended benches. Coach by Wayne Bennett, the super coach or one of. It's not a bad team. So they've got Jai Gray back.
[00:08:45] And they also have Edward Cossie. I don't know if he, yeah, he looks like he's an in this week as well. Interesting. Oh my gosh. So much to sink our teeth into. Chris says, momentum is the key. Putting back-to-back performances together is important. Much needed to win. Mainly happy with the defensive efforts after conceding two early ones against the Tigers. Great point, Chris. Thank you very much. We did concede two early ones. They were leading and we came back and then they didn't score another point. Excellent stuff. And we definitely need back-to-back performances.
[00:09:14] We need a whole bunch now because we've let some go. So looking forward to getting it done. Different Chris says, afternoon, not a good win for my relatives that are Tigers fans. Oh, well, never mind. So it says, sounds good. I bet Ronnie is chomping the bit to get back out there. He's super close. He's super close. Super, super, super close. I would be surprised, almost shocked if it's not magic round against the doggies.
[00:09:42] It'd be the post-buy game. So however you want to do it. I get the feeling as soon as he's ready, they'll throw him out there. I could be wrong. So I think it'll be against the Broncos. Sorry, against the Bulldogs. Man, this coffee's gone to my head from Mr. Paisley's lovely. If it's not the Bulldogs at Magic Round next week, week off, then whoever that is, I think that's what they'll do with Ronnie. He looks good. He's doing everything. Yeah.
[00:10:09] Doing some sessions today that I saw and he looked very much like everyone else out there. I don't think I saw any strapping or anything. So yeah, the Colquhoun male was going around, but I saw him participating. I think he had a tiny little bit of strapping on, but he was mostly looking as per. Our friend Lewis says, let's go Sharks fans.
[00:10:33] Pezza says, I feel less nervous with Siffer in the centers versus Luttrell in previous weeks against nimble centers. And it's a good point. I was thinking about this today. Pretty much all I'm thinking about is Luttrell versus Siffer. And to be fair to Siffer, there's also, you know, Alex Johnson on the wing and there is Marwini with him. And to his left is, I'm guessing, Nico and Britton. So it's not just a Talakai thing. However, you're correct.
[00:11:03] At least power on power, you would think that Siffer won't be out muscled. It would be a pretty even kind of contest there. And as the same goes, when Siffer's running at Luttrell, like it won't be as easy to get through Luttrell from a muscle point of view, a strength point of view, because they're both pretty big weapons, but there's less mobility with him. You would think than a Tom Chester or whoever. So I agree with you there, Pezza. Thank you so much.
[00:11:30] Now, Clevo says second best haircut of 2026 after Trindle. Well, I appreciate that again. Thank you very much. So too kind. And if I'm in there with the great Trindle, then I'm doing something okay. Or at least my barber is. Jay says looking forward to the game on Saturday evening, won the last five against South. Yep. Yeah. Hoping to make six in a row. We said that before my man, Jay, for the third time only, I think it'll be six in a row.
[00:11:57] So 89 to 93 and 94 to 03, we beat them. He says defense will be the key. If we can hold our own, we'll frustrate South. Absolutely. Luttrell and no surprise, Cody Walker lead the penalties conceded, not just for their team, but in the NRL. So Luttrell has won more than Cody. So there's that side to it for sure. The Matt Dufty on the bench thing is pretty intriguing. Bring him on in the middle and let him bounce around. That's a bit of a danger weapon. Actually enjoy. Great.
[00:12:27] The back is going to be awesome for them as well. Don't want to get into a scoring match with them like we were against the cows. Yeah, I agree, brother. I agree. I'm glad you've tuned in. John says with all the talk and anticipation with Ronnie coming back, he is the X factor and the player that can make the Sharks fans louder. I think he's probably the fan favorite too. Absolutely. He's both those things. He's an X factor and he's a fan favorite for sure. Like I've really missed him and he's a great shark on and off the field.
[00:12:56] And we need that kind of aggression and that confidence. And, you know, I know he's going to come back a thousand miles an hour, but he's also, we have to be realistic. He's coming off an ACL. So, and he's coming off a very quick turnaround. It's all medically cleared, but it's not a year and a half break. We'll see how he goes, but I can't wait to have him back. That is for sure. So just looking at that team again for people coming on late. We are as per what we were last week.
[00:13:23] I believe Kennedy, Haradi, Talakai, Iro, Stone Street, Harv's a Trindle and Hines. Front row of Fanua Blake, Blake Braley and Toby Rudolph. Britton, Nickerat, Teague Wilton, Cameron Kinnis at the back. And Jesse Colquhoun, immediate bench, Billy Burns, Oregon Kofusi, Tall Tom Hazelton. 18th man, Hoheppa, Braden Welle, then Riley Jones, Nephi Peru and Chris Veyella. So outside backs and halves on the extended, extended bench.
[00:13:52] But the South team, Jai Gray is back at fullback. He's had some time off. Alex Johnson, who also doesn't mind on Mr. Paisley's and Edward Cossie returns on the wing. Latrell Mitchell, Campbell Graham back to the centers. Cody Walker, Ashton Ward in the halves. Colum Otunghi, Kepi the props, Garlix the hooker, Aitken, Duncan, Murray back row. So interesting back row battle.
[00:14:19] Aitken, Duncan, Murray versus Nikora, Wilton and McInnes. Immediate bench for Souths is Matt Dufty, Lachlan Hubner, Jamie Humphries, Tevita Tertola and Peter Mazmazelis. Adam Elliott is 19th man. And then the extended bench is Liam LeBlanc, Moala Graham, Taufer and Thomas Fletcher. So not an easy team to get past. They are missing Jack Whiten.
[00:14:48] I'm not a huge Jack Whiten guy as some of my peeps know, but other people really rate him. So make of that what you will, but he will not be there for a while. Jay said, Ronnie is great with the socials after the games of the crowd. And we haven't had that this year with him out. And John says, I'm not expecting miracles from Ronaldo, but he has the potential to make Shark Park louder. Absolutely, John. Absolutely. I'm with you.
[00:15:13] And I think if you do roll him out at Suncorp, you can do the whole where he made his debut. It wasn't very good. This is his comeback. It's going to be good. He's a superstar of the game now. So good storyline. If he's ready to rock, that's for sure. Sharks Souths 530 Saturday. I see my colleague, John Coxon joining. What a great man. What a great man.
[00:15:38] Going to give him a little boo though, because Jono is a Manly fan. 530 Sharks at home bush. Who's heading out there? What's going on? Talk to me. Let's look at these lineups. Kennedy versus Gray. Two really great fullbacks. Our guys really in form. We have Johnston and Luttrell against Talakai and Hiroti.
[00:16:04] That means it's Campbell Graham and Cosi against Ero and Stone Street, you would think. Walker and Ward against Trindle and Hines. Love the way Nico has been defending, especially last week. Being at the game, got to see him up close. He was very, very verbal with what he wanted and what he was after. Had a great game. You can hear him interviewed on another episode coming out later on. And then the front row, forward pack. Two stars of the game. Colum Matungi and Adam Fenil Blake.
[00:16:35] Keppi and Rudolph. Two more working class, working type props. Garlick versus Braley. I don't mind that there. And the back row is going to be a pretty good battle. Aiken, Duncan, Murray versus Nikora, Wilton and McInnes. All right. Steven asks, thoughts on Burns playing as a middle off the bench? Look at work last week, Steven. And if we're going to play this PVL ball, then we've got to adapt and he fits into that mould perfectly. So I like his confidence. I like what he does. He's tough.
[00:17:05] I think he's probably a better defender in the middle, though I don't have a problem with his defense on the edges. I know he's missed a few this year from a stats point of view, but I back him more than I don't, especially with a guy like Hines giving him a lot of direction last week, which was great. We saw that in person. So I don't mind it, Steven. And I think that the more mobile we can get in this competition, the better we're going to go.
[00:17:33] So back row of Nikora, Wilton and McInnes. It's pretty mobile. Jesse Calhoun, big guy, but mobile. Billy Burns, mobile. Then you have Kofusi and Hazelton. Now Hazelton, you wouldn't say he's mobile, but he's a giant. So fair enough. Kofusi, pretty big guy. He would be borderline mobile depending on, he'd be on the bigger end of it at least. So I don't mind that. We've got the chance to have Hohepper in there. Maybe ULA is a big bobber.
[00:18:01] I mean, he's looking pretty slim for ULA at the moment, but he's, he's a big dude. And the extended bench of Riley Jones, Nephi Peru and Chris Vela, I wouldn't think would get onto the field. They never know what's going to happen or what can happen leading up to the game. But I don't mind it, Steven, because for a while we just had big dudes everywhere and it wasn't working. So based on last week against a mobile, but big forward pack against the West Tigers, we got the job done. Let's go do it again this week. All right.
[00:18:30] Also don't forget it's Nico Hines is 100th game for the Sharks. We're doing a lot of press today about it. You'll be hearing an interview with myself later on, on different feed. And he's pretty proud dude. Pretty happy to support and play for the great club, Cronulla. And for people joining late, it's a bit dark in here because I didn't put my big light on. And I thought it'd be weird if I turned it on halfway through. So we're not going to do it. That's why it's a bit dark, but it's all good. It's rock and roll, baby. 100th game for Nico Hines.
[00:18:59] He's a short distance off 1000. I was told NRL points. So a few milestones there this week, hopefully for him. I believe South might have a few milestones. I was told as well, but that's their thing. I briefly spoke to the coach today. He's going good. He's ready to rock and roll. They had a good session today. Good session. 5.30 at Homebush. Let me know if you're heading out.
[00:19:24] There'll be a post game show at some point, most likely directly after, but stay tuned to our socials. Join our socials. If you haven't at SharkCastPond on most of the thingamajiggies, if you can give us a follow on YouTube, that'd be a big help. We're doing that very gradually and naturally. There's no influences coming in and no one being paid to join. Every like and share you see is all organic. If that changes, I'll let you know.
[00:19:53] If we boost our numbers by thousands in one night, I'll let you know. Just kidding. But if you can share it around, tell everyone about the SharkCastPod, or just SharkCastPod as I call it, that would be awesome. We've been 12 years running and we're always growing every day, which is a positive. Troy says, who on our team has the best chance to throw Luttrell off his game? So he has an average game. It's a great question. Let's have a look. His name is Ronaldo and he's on the sideline.
[00:20:22] Look, you don't want to mess with Talakai and that's who he's marking. Now, Talakai would get him off his game naturally just by busting him every time he runs. Aside from him, Nico Hines will be close by. They're mates. Nico gives as good as he gets and he gets a lot. I don't know. Maybe Toby Rudolph might have a word. Britain Nicker doesn't mind a bit of a bite either. And he's on the same side. So we'll be right. We'll be right there. We're not going to get pushed around. Billy Burns as well. There's a few there.
[00:20:50] A few there don't mind a bit of mongrel, but it's a great question. John has made a really great point. Oh my God. I might send this to some higher powers. Shucks, the South should play for Nathan Merritt trophy. Doing it tough played for both teams. John, that is an amazing gesture. And I'll send that off to a few people and it's probably too late this time, but there might be some acknowledgement that I'm not aware of that's happening. So, but yeah, great idea. Jay says any update on if Clinton will be on again soon? Yeah, Clinton will be on Jay.
[00:21:20] He's just a real busy guy. He's on air right now. I would imagine drive time to GB, a lot of commitments before that throughout the day and family man as well. So we'll get him on though. And it'll be a special request for Jay for sure. Just stay tuned. You know, we have a rolling roster and some guys need to be repeated. Some don't have much time. We're always just trying to make it as entertaining for you as we can.
[00:21:47] I'm getting excited guys and girls, South Sydney. They're going to be tough. That's for sure. It does come down to the left edges though. We've seen that all year. Both left edges are really good. I think they're the best and we're probably in the top five for left edges. I think both right edges defensively from memory are not the best. So we'll see what happens. And I'm sure, and I know in fact I saw it with my own eyes today, they were training for a lot of things. So it'll be okay.
[00:22:17] I'm sure. Interesting. Jay, you say Nico Hines field goal will win the game on Saturday. I hope I don't get in trouble by saying I saw some field goals being practiced by a few guys. Won't say who. And that's a common thing as well. So, but I would love nothing more than our guest who's on the show later on, Nico Hines to get the winning field goal in his 100th game for the Sharks. Although I don't want it to be that close. I just like these stress free games like the second half yesterday where it was a breeze.
[00:22:47] They're the fun ones for me, but I'm sure it'd be a lot closer than that because South's a pretty red hot. Even when they're losing, they're pretty red hot. So it'll be a good one. Lock yourself in 530 Saturday. So that's the team news. Not much from shark land. There is news that Ronaldo will be sooner rather than later. It may be next week. It may be pushed to after the buy. We'll find out. We'll wait and see on that one. As far as I know, Colquhoun will play. He's named in 14.
[00:23:16] He was training today. There wasn't a lot of strapping on him at all. It was a tiny little thing. He didn't have a special bib on or et cetera, et cetera. I probably shouldn't be saying all this stuff, but I think Colquhoun is going to be okay. Great question from Jay. Do we get more people tuning in after a loss or after a win? It's hard to pin down in complete honesty. Our audience is pretty loyal.
[00:23:41] Like it's never, like it's always at a minimum at a certain amount, which I'm extremely grateful for. For example, though, I was surprised given it was six o'clock on a Sunday, a big win, not much to complain about. The West Tigers post game show was really good. Did really big numbers, et cetera, et cetera. So, and when I say that I'm talking like across the board of the podcast feed, video feeds, website feeds, social feeds, et cetera, boring stuff.
[00:24:10] But I was really happy, like extremely happy. So it just depends, man. It depends. I mean, historically when something big happens, whether it's obvious to say or not, we get bigger numbers. So I remember, I don't think I've mentioned this before, but something happened with Kyle Flanagan when he was here. He was, he was dropped or he came in or something happened. And that was like one of our biggest shows ever, which was kind of weird.
[00:24:38] But then, yeah, it's, it's hard to, it's hard to say is my long winded answer. I apologize, but I, we're just very grateful that there's always a core amount of people like no matter what we do at the moment, thankfully, and it has been historically, who knows what the future will bring. But it's, there's a really nice, beautiful core group who devour what we do. But I would suggest the better we're going, the more invested everyone is. If we have a loss every now and then it's not too dramatic.
[00:25:07] If there's some member, what did we lose? Like two in a row recently, people don't like that third loss coming and they tend to sort of write to us and reach out and react. So yeah, I give long answers. I'm so sorry, Jay, but I appreciate your support. Hopefully that answers something. Sarah says excited for Saturday. Hey, I know I've asked this before, but can you just, am I pronouncing it Sarah or Sarah? My memory's no good. So I'm saying it really quick cause I don't know. Sarah or Sarah? I've forgotten.
[00:25:36] But if you tell me now, I'll remember forever. I crossed my fingers cause I may not, but just so I know. Joe says that speaks. Ah, it's very kind. Thanks Joe. He's giving me praise for people listening. I'm not going to read that up, but thank you very much. I'm excited for Saturday too. And I think this is how I felt last Tuesday when the Tigers team list came out as well. So a lot of fun being a Sharks fan.
[00:26:02] Did you guys and girls see that video that went around on the internet today about someone's journey at Shark Stadium, or as we call it Ocean Protect Stadium? Um, it was, you know, good and bad. It could have been a lot worse. Did you see that? It's on the internet in places like a two, three minute video about the journey down, journey back experience. That was interesting. I'm sure you'll find it on the socials. Okay. We've got an answer from Sarah. Sarah. Oh my God.
[00:26:31] This happened last time and you confused me. S E R A. Sarah. Gotcha. Five different ways. That's how people used to say my surname a lot. All right. Thank you, Sarah. And I'm excited for the weekend. Cannot wait. If you're heading out there now, I think you'll hear it on the interview with Nico, I think, but he wants everyone to go out and support the team. If you can get there, of course, where your colors, he is hyped for a big game.
[00:26:59] And you see the more, the merrier out there and there'll be a bunch of South fans. They're having a decent year. You know, they lost the bizarre game last week, but they're, they're going okay. That's for sure. So plenty of South fans to compete with from a vocal point of view. Time to wrap things up, but there is no major changes to the Sharks team. And why would there be? Because that's a convincing win. Uh, if you're not happy with any of this, get in touch with us. Sharkarspod at gmail.com.
[00:27:26] We'll do, uh, shows throughout the week. We'll get to your mail is already a bit there, which is great. Keep it coming. You can DM us on the socials at sharkarspod. Sorry about the angle here. I'm just like looking at a second screen related to what I'm doing here. Uh, Jesse Colquhoun on the bench. So he will be playing as far as we know. And then it's just a matter of how that bench pans out. Colquhoun burns, Kofusi, Hazleton. Then you got Hojepa and Wille fighting for a spot too.
[00:27:55] Could be a game day situation. See what happens, how we're playing. What, what is needed. Then Riley Jones, Nephi Peru and Chris Fahela on the reserves list. So South to good, man. It's going to be a competitive one, but I do think defensively, if we out defend them, then we win the game. Cause we can, we can match their points. I'm pretty sure. So it's just a matter of defending like last week against the high flying West Tigers and we'll get the win and we need to win.
[00:28:25] Want to keep the ball rolling. Sharkars pod. Jay says, can we get one of the merch team on the future? Talk about possible Jersey releases in weeks to come. Look, we can. I was actually hanging out with someone involved with that before. I know you probably consumed Adam Barnes on the show a few years ago.
