[00:00:00] SharkDays, SharkDays, SharkDays, SharkDays, SharkDays, SharkDays.
[00:00:15] And the more you pay me back in the shower, tell your porch lie down,
[00:00:19] quit my cabin out of the chart feed.
[00:00:30] Hey there, welcome to Catching Up with Kieran Overcoffee,
[00:00:36] an episode of SharkCastPod if you will on a bright and early Monday morning.
[00:00:41] My name is Sam Chnauzi and OG from 2015.
[00:00:44] This is SharkCastPod.
[00:00:45] We're brought to you by Dyson logistics, the Royal Modi, our club in port,
[00:00:47] hacking and Jason Horser, crypts and crypts real estate.
[00:00:50] And if you see me going cross side looking at my microphone guys sometimes,
[00:00:54] I'm just checking up on some free gut with a special guest Kieran.
[00:00:59] And do we already?
[00:01:00] Yes, I do.
[00:01:01] My daughter just decided to get crashed this.
[00:01:03] She's welcome.
[00:01:04] She's a shark.
[00:01:05] Yeah, she's the youngest host that I've ever seen on the show.
[00:01:08] So congratulations to Olivia.
[00:01:09] Yes, hello Olivia, good morning.
[00:01:12] Kieran catching up with you over a coffee which is lovely
[00:01:16] and you and I had the pleasure of watching a pretty good game down at SharkCastPod
[00:01:21] on...
[00:01:22] When was it?
[00:01:23] Friday evening, early 6 o'clock.
[00:01:25] And...
[00:01:26] Right, yeah.
[00:01:27] A lot of fun.
[00:01:28] We hit the hairy man a little bit early with our friend Craig and Cleve
[00:01:32] and we saw some regulars down there which was awesome.
[00:01:36] And SharkCastPod went in 25 points to 6 and we're going to get to that real soon.
[00:01:40] Want to say thanks to everyone who's been watching and listening.
[00:01:44] We've got a few people on the YouTube now, which is great.
[00:01:46] So keep subscribing and we'll throw things up here whenever we can.
[00:01:49] Bit of feedback during the week Kieran about...
[00:01:52] About Wi-Fi and phones in planes which became a bit of a hot topic for us.
[00:01:57] Yeah, so SharkCastPod, who commented on YouTube and he kind of explained us why
[00:02:03] the Wi-Fi situation wasn't planned.
[00:02:05] So that got me thinking and you know me Sam, I'm always overthinking things
[00:02:09] and I'm always in my own head.
[00:02:10] And I started thinking about all the different rules around phones that we used to have.
[00:02:15] And I wanted us this to the listeners and to you.
[00:02:18] What happened to not being able to use your phone while you're putting petrol in the car?
[00:02:23] Because now they've taken away that sign because I went to the...
[00:02:26] the cow-tex next to Shark Park.
[00:02:28] And that sign is not under there.
[00:02:30] The only sign says he's do not smoke.
[00:02:32] Now, I look around and I see people using their phones all the time.
[00:02:35] But as a kid, I was always told if you used your phone at the petrol station,
[00:02:39] you would blow up.
[00:02:40] Is that not the case anymore?
[00:02:41] I'm glad you come to me for this question because I do have a lot of information
[00:02:45] about science and health and wellbeing.
[00:02:49] First of all, love how you named and shamed cow-tex down at Rullaware.
[00:02:54] So get in touch if you want to sponsor us.
[00:02:58] I do not go anywhere near my phone when I'm filling up my car.
[00:03:03] That is a proper fact, hand on heart, heart on sleeve.
[00:03:07] I do not do it because I think I'm going to blow up or something bad will happen.
[00:03:12] I mean, I still see the ones that reminds me of my teally beloved lake grandfather
[00:03:17] who used to have a sign in the backyard or something.
[00:03:20] It was the nose, no smoking.
[00:03:23] No, well, was it no smoking?
[00:03:26] No, something around the around filling up your tank.
[00:03:29] It was like this old sign I should know.
[00:03:31] I don't know.
[00:03:32] So the whole thing about smoking and not that I smoke but smoking and phones
[00:03:37] and doing anything that you shouldn't just fill your car up.
[00:03:40] That's what you then do.
[00:03:41] I'm not doing anything else.
[00:03:43] Well, I see what I see people do.
[00:03:46] Yeah, and I get scared because I think that the whole petrol station is going to blow up
[00:03:49] and then I start thinking about what are terrible or that would be to dark.
[00:03:51] Yeah, and then I start thinking about, you know, what other ways to die would be terrible.
[00:03:55] And I start thinking about getting buried alive, eaten by a shark, getting burnt.
[00:04:00] This is just what goes on in my head.
[00:04:02] So thank you for answering those questions.
[00:04:04] I'm going to go eat and buy a shark out of all those.
[00:04:07] That's the best.
[00:04:07] You think that'd be the best way to get out of those ones?
[00:04:09] Yeah.
[00:04:10] I think being buried alive would probably be the worst.
[00:04:13] Yeah, it does heart back to some paper views that we've seen.
[00:04:16] Yeah.
[00:04:17] But I think the shark, if the shark got you and you went straight away, that wouldn't be too bad.
[00:04:23] But it's Monday morning and I got enough going on in my life.
[00:04:28] I don't need you bringing me down.
[00:04:29] We're coming third.
[00:04:30] I think we're on our way to the finals, especially if you listen to our fans.
[00:04:35] This is how you get to be every Monday morning.
[00:04:38] It's going to quickly become catching up with Jardine over Java or something.
[00:04:43] All right.
[00:04:43] There's your warning.
[00:04:44] That's a wave at a name.
[00:04:47] I'm glad you raised it.
[00:04:48] I don't know if I see people do it, but maybe I'm not looking for it.
[00:04:52] I'm just I'm there for my business in and out.
[00:04:55] Yeah.
[00:04:56] Well now that I've said it next time you fill up your car, you'll have a little bit of notice.
[00:05:00] I'll be looking for sure.
[00:05:02] Kieran, we had a great time down at the football and the sharks have started as I said to an
[00:05:09] O on the back of a really strong defensive gameplay.
[00:05:16] Tell me about your initial thoughts about the game on Friday.
[00:05:21] My first initial thoughts were the Bulldogs were like an under 12's team.
[00:05:25] They were just give it to kick out and give it to cry to them.
[00:05:28] And I think having those two guys together, just kind of it just really jams in what they do.
[00:05:35] But the one thing that really impressed me was Nico Hines's defense on kick out.
[00:05:39] Because they loaded up kick out a ridiculous amount of times on Nico.
[00:05:43] And if you go back and watch the replay, the amount of times you see Nico holding on
[00:05:47] and he just like is around an ankle, he's around a leg, like he just didn't give up
[00:05:51] and he was in Kig out face all game.
[00:05:54] And Kig out got through a few times, but Nico was holding onto him every single time
[00:05:58] and allowed other players to get there as well.
[00:06:00] So for me that was a real highlight and also will Kennedy as well in defense.
[00:06:05] He was absolutely everywhere.
[00:06:07] And that's two weeks in a row now where he's just been like this bouncy ball
[00:06:12] that is just everywhere in defense and filling up all the gaps.
[00:06:15] So that were the two standouts for me.
[00:06:17] So looking at the stats, Nico actually made kind of the fourth most tackles for the sharks
[00:06:22] and he made 20 and he missed a few which were nothing of note from memory.
[00:06:28] So he definitely targeted him especially, Trindle and he made nine.
[00:06:32] And when you got kick out on that side, of course, that'll be where you go
[00:06:36] anyway no matter who's defending.
[00:06:38] But we have seen, it's only two games but we've seen a really resolute new style of play from Nico
[00:06:45] and it's an aggressive style I really like it I mentioned it last week on the shows.
[00:06:50] He's I think he's come to town with a bit more of a game face and it's
[00:06:56] being seen in his defense and off that we're winning games through attack as well.
[00:07:01] So whatever he's done on the off season it's worked.
[00:07:04] I mean he was on one of the Fox shows last night and he was talking about
[00:07:09] how they had a good off season.
[00:07:10] He said everyone says that but we actually did have a good off season, worked on a lot of things,
[00:07:14] had a lot to work on, got through a lot.
[00:07:16] And again it's only two games but if you look at them,
[00:07:20] down 12 nil against the Warriors, defense got them back into the game 100%
[00:07:25] and against the Bulldogs, down a man for 10 minutes just really strong defensive play.
[00:07:33] Even though the Bulldogs didn't throw much at us of course, we still had to just hang on.
[00:07:40] Went to the shed six all came out for the really good attitude one in the game but again
[00:07:45] defense is what's going to win you a title and so far so good right?
[00:07:50] Like I mean you can see the difference yeah.
[00:07:52] Yeah absolutely and I think the thing that Nico said last night was they did a lot of stuff
[00:07:57] on mental resilience and mindsets and things like that and I think you've seen that in the
[00:08:02] defensive efforts and whilst the dogs didn't throw a lot attack wise at the sharks,
[00:08:07] the dogs were super physical and the dogs were super niggly and they were trying to get
[00:08:11] under the shark's skin and that was a really stop start type of thing with like lots of pushing
[00:08:16] and shoving and nothing phased them and I was kind of getting a little bit annoyed because
[00:08:22] the scores were closed you know around the 60 minute mark. I think it was still a six all
[00:08:25] and you were like mate just they'll be fine they'll get to this next stage and that's exactly
[00:08:30] what happened yeah they kind of took the dogs to that deep water and then that last 20 minutes
[00:08:35] they just kicked away and if you look at the week before when the dogs played paramount
[00:08:39] a paramount I had like 89% of the ball in that first half and the score lines are pretty much
[00:08:44] identical right so the board dogs are still putting in a lot of effort it's early in the season for
[00:08:49] them but the sharks that wasn't an easy game for them and I think that was a good preparation for
[00:08:55] this next week against the Tigers at Lyca because again that's another game where they're going to be
[00:09:00] expected to win it's going to be a parktouse out there and I think they kind of went through it
[00:09:06] a little bit last week and now I'll be able to go into the Tiger Town trying to a little bit more
[00:09:11] switched on because they know it won't be easy. I mean when I said to you they're going to be okay
[00:09:16] it was based on the fact that they were playing decent like they weren't dropping too much ball
[00:09:20] they're getting through their sets they're kicking well just the tries weren't coming so I knew
[00:09:25] they would especially against a team like the ball dogs who aren't really where you need to be at
[00:09:29] the moment for an RL team they brought a lot of niggle it was kind on their only thing that and the
[00:09:36] big bombs it's all they had and for their sake I hope it improves but I'm glad we got to hit out
[00:09:42] that we did boy you're right about will Kennedy too he's just hit the ground running again based
[00:09:48] off really good kick defense and defense in general and then we're seeing some great kick returns
[00:09:55] just full of gusto and a little bit of class in there now it's not just sort of running directly
[00:10:01] straight back to the line. We saw David Peachy in the house which was always just a joy to see him
[00:10:10] around he was there with with the big crew and he must have got a kick out of seeing a couple of
[00:10:16] those will Kennedy returns like just yeah we both said it a few of people turn around said to us
[00:10:21] they're like that was peachy likes look absolutely it was peachy like that glide that he had
[00:10:26] was like a 3040 meter run and it was just like the balance that he had it just brought back so many
[00:10:31] memories and like even when we saw David Peachy on the hill like you know I see a lot of sharks
[00:10:36] players around the shy around that but when you see David Peachy it's exciting when you see him
[00:10:43] like again a little bit star struck with the scene so that was awesome same a shark park but the shark
[00:10:47] he should have had him up in some sort of suite. Yeah I get the vibe it's not really his thing I
[00:10:53] may be wrong but I definitely agree with you I know afterwards I hung about a bit after the majority
[00:11:00] of people left and he was he was talking to some people in the know like they kind of I think
[00:11:06] realized that he was around so he's pretty chill as everyone knows he was he was having a great time
[00:11:12] it's going to be great to watch will can't he keep going like he's just I think he's been close
[00:11:16] to man on the match in both and we need it you know we said we need more from our spine we're getting
[00:11:22] it Blake Braley was really strong probably better than last week running a lot more again there's
[00:11:29] an aggression to his game we haven't really seen we've seen it in little bits when he gets
[00:11:34] a bit fired up or whatever but we've seen two games in a row now from Blake where he's really
[00:11:39] just making the game his own he's really also if he's not running he's engaging the line and at
[00:11:45] least trying to get us a penalty if not getting as penalties are great in defense so I think if
[00:11:51] he just keeps improving that week in week out with Trendle solid Niko going really well it's a good
[00:11:56] spine all of a sudden like a really good spine yeah I think he really took that battle with with
[00:12:01] Marnie personal because anytime there was a break in play you just saw Braley was like finding him
[00:12:07] out and he was in his face and just being a little bit more aggressive than we've kind of seen
[00:12:10] the past because yeah that's one thing a lot of people always said if you could put Michael
[00:12:14] Ennis's mentality in Blake Braley could you just imagine what that player would be so you know
[00:12:19] he's I don't know how many first great games he's had now but he's been it for four years
[00:12:23] or so so he's probably up around that hundred game marks so maybe he's feeling confident now
[00:12:28] and and that was the other thing too that when I was watching the game I was just thinking about
[00:12:31] it because the dogs have so much chopping and changing and you look at our team and so many of
[00:12:35] those guys have played four five six years together in first grade and then you go back to the
[00:12:40] 20s team that they were all in as well like Katoa and Jesse Raimi and have been defending next to each
[00:12:45] other for eight years or so right like those combinations are so vital and compare that with what
[00:12:52] the dogs are doing like the dogs are just disjointed yeah there's probably like I think there's no one
[00:12:57] there from two three years ago it's pretty crazy what do you think what the clubs actually built
[00:13:01] then guys like Blake and Katoa or Jesse so Blake's played 112 games he's he's crept up all of a sudden
[00:13:08] that's what Fitzgibbon said to us on the pod and he's telling everyone to listen you know these guys
[00:13:14] mean time and that time is kind of arriving you know let's not go off too early but they're
[00:13:20] they're all kind of arriving at the same spot and man Jesse Raimi and he was everywhere
[00:13:27] on Friday night he was doing hit ups he was tackling he was jumping on the ball he's had a super
[00:13:33] impressive I mean most of the guys have but he's had a really impressive start to the yeah and
[00:13:38] the one thing I noticed was that he seems to be the guy that we've designated to chase those
[00:13:43] bombs right and Taf's had some issues under the high ball and Jesse was on the other side of the field
[00:13:47] chasing those kicks like putting pressure on Taf so the other thing about Jesse that every time I
[00:13:53] watch him I get reminded of how aggressive he is and it's really weird because when you see him
[00:13:58] out and about he's always so nice and polite and then you put him in the field and he's just a bulldozer
[00:14:04] running into people just full contact he's he's so physical and then you look at Sifre as well
[00:14:11] and I don't know if Sifre's injured or not but he's just he's a tank out there and you know
[00:14:16] he's body must have hurt so badly the next day because there were times where he could be on the wall
[00:14:22] yeah I think someone's going on with the ankle or the foot he got through the game hopefully
[00:14:27] plays this week not suggesting he won't but you're right these guys like both the centers are like
[00:14:34] I mean Sifre's a bit more quiet than Jesse off the field but they're both just
[00:14:38] kind of these really quietly spoken family-oriented people they cross the line that's just like
[00:14:44] I don't want any part of you Ronaldo ran for over 200 meters dude 200 meters that's insane and
[00:14:52] the one thing I loved and I remember pointing that to you was when Ronaldo did that big palm on
[00:14:57] the Bordogs player and you could just see Sifre was just laughing his head off and Sifre was having
[00:15:01] the time his life watching that but Ronnie mate he's if you back one shark's triscora you have
[00:15:07] to back the winners you have to back you come back one of them you got to back both of them and
[00:15:11] also throwing Tig Walton as well that's what I normally do is I never put in Tig but I put in
[00:15:16] Kennedy because I thought he was Jew and they came back a bit me but how good was Tig?
[00:15:22] I'm glad I brought up my favorite anytime triscora because he is running onto the ball harder than
[00:15:27] anyone and it's working and absolutely he has started the season so strong especially a guy who
[00:15:35] missed a lot of it last year through injury he's super young and I really am excited by his future
[00:15:43] and they used him last week exactly how I wanted just running into holes but not in the
[00:15:50] Britain Nicaraway and just the straight hard you're not going to stop me kind of way
[00:15:56] we saw him set up a truffle trend all we saw another few chances that didn't come the points but
[00:16:04] great in defense as well and I mean there is some disruption this week which we're going to talk about
[00:16:09] but the first two weeks have just been you wouldn't know what and more like you don't really
[00:16:15] care about bigger wins you don't care about much you want to be injury free and you want to be
[00:16:20] winning and the way they're defending is so good and just the attitude is really good like Tig Walton
[00:16:25] watch him run it's just that's the attitude you've got look we're not going to go through player by
[00:16:30] player on this show we'll do it throughout the week but we do need to mention the debut for the
[00:16:35] sharks at least I've took you how to pour big tux he was only on the field for 11 minutes
[00:16:42] but he ran for 50 meters and he busted a bunch of tackles and made some tackles without missing
[00:16:48] them and was rock solid in a very short stint already crowd favorite and the exact prototype
[00:16:56] of what you want coming off your bench during the middle of a game the size of him in Hazelton
[00:17:01] is just freaky because when I saw him up close I could not believe how big he was and
[00:17:09] usually when a guy is that big you expect him not to be his mobile as he was everywhere
[00:17:15] and those I think what 50 meters four tackle bus in that stint it's like he's showed him out of
[00:17:23] a cannon coming off the bench and again it's just the different body shapes that the sharks have
[00:17:27] is we're starting to get that because a few years ago everyone was the same sort of side as they
[00:17:32] were they that sort of nuggety sort of Jack Williams you know super strong type but now they're
[00:17:38] getting the Hazelton's in their willton's coming into his own like they're getting all these
[00:17:42] different bodies and then you add a for new ablakein next year without being smart our lock is one
[00:17:48] of the smaller forwards in the game and he had a terrific game he ran for 130 meters over 50 minutes
[00:17:54] like and he was finding those little holes he was making sort of 8 10 12 meters ago and getting
[00:18:01] the quick play the ball in the middle of field and it's work gets him going like this size thing is
[00:18:07] really become a positive as you said for a while we're just all the same dude dude but now
[00:18:13] you got your smaller than Dale for Newkins a little bit bigger and you got your Jack Williams you got
[00:18:17] told harm you got tukes to have you rid off summer in the middle Oregon's not huge but he's a tough
[00:18:22] body but they're all different sizes absolutely yeah and I just think that once you add it in the
[00:18:28] handle new Ellie as well you just getting that different versatility and you know Royce Hunter
[00:18:32] don't know if he's going to be back this week or whatever but again he's a completely different
[00:18:36] body shape too so they're really starting to get that sort of diversity inside which is kind of
[00:18:42] exciting because you can see he's making a real difference when they're going forward and making
[00:18:46] those meters now compared to a few years ago where they were just kind of we always felt like if
[00:18:50] you lost the game we would say the same thing the sharks got dominated in the middle right whereas
[00:18:56] now we're starting to get bit of different bodies and we're starting to win those meter games and
[00:19:00] make more meters in the opposition tell me if you're coaching the team this week are you leaving
[00:19:05] the middles the same or are you bringing back Royce what are you doing I think your
[00:19:10] Royce is fit you bring him back but I would love to see Tukes get another game because that was
[00:19:18] so impressive but I think knowing fits from watching him low last couple of years he will
[00:19:25] stick with the guys that have kind of brought him to the dance but I think how new Ellie's back as
[00:19:29] well there's a chance for round three or I read them or maybe he's round four but there's a real
[00:19:35] long jam there of middles but the dance you know we got to talk about later but maybe you push
[00:19:40] the jackalims out and that creates the room to accommodate something like that let's get to it
[00:19:45] now my fairer player although I might have gone off to a little bit about that but my friend player
[00:19:49] Britton Nicarat can be missing for two weeks many feel that this is this is a good thing that
[00:19:59] you only got two weeks and not longer other people think that the game has changed forever
[00:20:03] but however you see it the fact is he's going to be missing for two weeks one of our best players
[00:20:09] it really disrupts that right edge and I'm wondering here in what would you do if you were
[00:20:17] naming the team this week I don't think you can do open heart surgery and take
[00:20:22] Sifar and move him across to the second row spot and bring in euro I think that's just
[00:20:28] messing up too much there because when you look at what they're doing on that side you know
[00:20:32] defensively especially they've been rock solid so I don't really like the idea of moving
[00:20:38] and there's too many moving parts for me on that one I think jack could probably do the job
[00:20:44] uh on the edge and I think that's probably the least disruption unless you maybe put a
[00:20:49] mechiness there um I we've seen cam defend out there in the past but oh I I think in the path
[00:20:56] of least disruption I would probably keep the same 17 bring in a uh rice for for nicarro
[00:21:04] and probably push jack out but then your bench would be for nukin tukes hazelton and uh who else
[00:21:14] hunt yeah so that's but that that that bench is probably too big
[00:21:18] so maybe you have to have like an euro on the bench to try and balance that out but we seem
[00:21:23] to be one back row assured what would you do well um I'm gonna hit pause on billy burns just now
[00:21:29] because I need to see more out of him these two jets games yeah he's been scoring tries and everything
[00:21:34] but he hasn't been uh lights out he's played like regular first grade for last few years so I won't
[00:21:41] be shocked if that's what they do but for some reason I know he's had the offseason and everything
[00:21:47] but for some reason I feel like it's too soon whether that's crazy or not I think I feel like
[00:21:51] it's too soon just to bring a new guy in a vertical mrs into the system to play at like art
[00:21:59] tigers looking desperate for a win I don't mind the jack weems thing he's gonna have to be
[00:22:04] pretty mobile for a large port port portion of the game the cam mckinus could work a
[00:22:13] preferred i'm defending in the middle though other than that I think we're kind of stuck I wouldn't
[00:22:17] be moving talika like you say the only thing that might get ero a go is that he might go to the bench
[00:22:24] if talika is ankles a bit 50-50 he might become the 17th guy just as that back up or even if it all
[00:22:32] goes pear shaped if you do play billy burns I'm not saying you should but if you did or if you play
[00:22:37] jack weems and it's not working I'm assuming talika I could play both sides I can't confirm that
[00:22:45] I know he's more of a lefty than a righty but if you shift him across or even if teague shifts
[00:22:50] across whatever then ero can come on as well at center if there's an issue with the second row
[00:22:57] ciphagos and second row it's getting a little bit open heart surgery as you said though so
[00:23:02] maybe I would just do the williams thing and just tell him to practice his lateral offense
[00:23:08] gets jessy to kind of help him out there as well and go from there but it's a pickle man it's
[00:23:14] it's not good I'm thankful that it's against a team that we should beat west tigers
[00:23:20] they come home to cambera who are decent but perfectly beatable so it's not the worst time of
[00:23:26] the year to do it or against the worst team so we'll see what happens there but it was a major bummer
[00:23:32] see that happen I've got no idea whether it's a right or wrong decision the two weeks the
[00:23:38] sinmin I've got no idea I kind of like stay away from that stuff just because it looked bad
[00:23:44] but you see worse get up you know people get away with worse stuff and I don't know I mean there's
[00:23:49] a lot of feedback obviously from fans who are just up in arms I think that's personally a bit
[00:23:55] dramatic but yeah two weeks I mean I was talking to macker up in the upper ET and he said
[00:24:02] he expected four weeks didn't get that which is great so yeah we'll see what happens Tuesday
[00:24:09] four o'clock on the team they won't have the final run out in team until Saturday 6.30 pm
[00:24:14] but we'll see what happens there who else caught your eye anyone else catch your eye from Friday night
[00:24:21] curin well again the the whole back five every time I watch them play I get super impressed by just
[00:24:27] the amount of work that they get through it and bringing us you know back out of trouble um
[00:24:33] Wilton's hands were just ridiculous the amount of times where he got balls that were kind of behind
[00:24:39] him or whatever like I'll be shoulder and was able to catch those I thought were just
[00:24:44] tremendous but yeah the real stand up to me was Nico's defense because I just couldn't get over
[00:24:49] because they just kept going back to it too and Burton, Kikow and Crioton were that sort
[00:24:55] like that's their three guys and they all play next to each other so that wasn't a real thing
[00:24:58] for me and I guess going into next week if you're not going to have Nekora next to Nico
[00:25:02] yeah you really have to think that through because I think they put the part Josh Pebbley
[00:25:08] is that what's his name the tiger's background? Yeah the fellow not Josh the other fellow yep
[00:25:12] yeah so I think that's the guy that will be on him so there's a lot to think about there but um
[00:25:19] you know I was just can't stop thinking about who they're going to put in the second row
[00:25:23] let's give a final shout out to co-capped from Dale Fnukin he ended up playing 42 minutes
[00:25:30] and he ran for 120 meters made 25 tackles missed too so everyone's saying that his
[00:25:38] year's by date has come is not particularly correct now whether it is in your top 17 or not
[00:25:44] different story it's up to the individual who make that call but we heard from the coach
[00:25:49] in the press conference saying that they'll basically hasn't trained and he crossed the white line
[00:25:56] 250 games and he got through it all and he was pretty goodly he wasn't again he wasn't amazing
[00:26:01] but that's a job 42 minutes 120 meters 25 tackles no glaring issues at all so we're not putting
[00:26:10] along their him surely well and the thing that made me laugh was he's very first tackle he lost
[00:26:14] his headtap so that's just classic Dale but like you can see the guys when he goes on the field
[00:26:21] they kind of look over and they see him and I think he's that real safety blanket for a lot of them
[00:26:25] too because he is that guy he's been there he's done that and he's that physical dude
[00:26:30] at training and around the place and so if you're a toby route off or a kathusi and you're looking
[00:26:35] over there and you're seeing this guy just busted and going that hard and to not train all week
[00:26:41] and get out of the field and just be that lunatic day of years it's super impressive but you do
[00:26:46] have to wonder like how much more can that body hold up because he's been doing that for 10 plus
[00:26:51] years 250 games like he's one of the most physical guys I think I've actually watched because
[00:26:56] everything just looks like it hurts and even the way he moves looks like it hurts. I wonder if
[00:27:02] later in the year they'll rest him if we're playing someone who doesn't need to play or if he's
[00:27:08] got a niggling injury because if everyone's fit we have the depth to cover him now you wouldn't do
[00:27:14] it necessarily in a blockbuster match or whatever but if we're playing a team we should be somewhere
[00:27:21] maybe you do give him a week off every now and then. And it also gives more minutes to the guys
[00:27:25] like McKinness and Jack Williams that have been playing so well like pile of reason why I would
[00:27:32] be hesitant to put Jack in the second row is that impact that he's having off the bench because
[00:27:36] it's noticeable every time he comes on and they matter work did he get through and
[00:27:40] and the power there so you know if you can rest the guy like Dale you I think you need him if you
[00:27:46] get to do anything in the finals so yeah I think it's a good idea if that opportunity pops up but
[00:27:51] again is that opportunity is there that means the sharks are winning and you know things are going
[00:27:55] cruzzy so fingers crossed. Is there a chance we see something kooky like a middle that's not Jack
[00:28:02] playing on that edge and they just sub them throughout the game like we see Toby hanging out
[00:28:09] on the left edge a little bit like is there a chance he just fills the numbers up and kind of I don't
[00:28:14] know it plays a more defensive style game I don't know like I'm just throwing things out there but
[00:28:18] I think there was a game where Toby played in the second row I want to say against Brisbane
[00:28:23] a few easy I only first came into first grade but I just think he's he's an out of middle
[00:28:28] I just I agree yeah I agree if you're the only one that has that verse till he's probably Jack
[00:28:33] yeah even then jack's probably not that verse of tile in that sense where he's best football is
[00:28:38] definitely in the middle maybe maybe they're gonna throw billion I mean they bought him for a reason
[00:28:43] and and and the reason was is a backup I mean it's uh it's what do you want do you want a guy who's
[00:28:50] played in our world that position or do you want to tinker a little bit and hope that it works
[00:28:56] it's it's uh on the surface it's a tough one for the coach maybe he's already made up his mind
[00:29:01] I'm not sure but it's it's a tough one because of who it is that he's replacing yeah
[00:29:07] and and if you think about our two second rowers we said at start of the year they've got the job
[00:29:12] Teeves got the job and Britain's got the job so you don't you're not really going to have superstar
[00:29:19] guys in the wings waiting to take apart there's no need so I kind of understand the lack of depth
[00:29:24] there and I understand why Billy Burns was brought in he's got I don't know a bunch of games
[00:29:30] so we will see what happens there it is fascinating to watch everyone's got their theories out
[00:29:36] there which is awesome uh we will see what happens moving forward uh Kiran we had a good time on
[00:29:42] Friday night shark park uh a few things coming to us in the mail that will get to throughout the week
[00:29:47] about queuing of things people queuing and I definitely experienced that yeah there was some cues
[00:29:55] and there was there's a bunch of people saying that they weren't allowed to bring in their food from
[00:30:00] home we'll see what happens with that but overall really good to be home uh full house you definitely
[00:30:08] felt that when you worked walked around the outer areas just good to be back it was hilarious
[00:30:13] watching some of the uh traities in the the new lease club um trying to watch the game there and
[00:30:19] watching security kick them out um but I think when we go back to shark park it the first game of
[00:30:25] every season seems to be this issue with queues and I don't understand it but it'll probably be fixed
[00:30:31] by the time we get back there against the Raiders in two weeks because that's just how it kind of rolls
[00:30:35] some reason um the most peculiar thing to me was that the food situation they ran out of options
[00:30:41] and there was just plutopops and chicken nuggets yes so yes that's just a meow it's quite strange
[00:30:46] all the foods to have left uh maybe that's just because they weren't popular I don't know
[00:30:51] well I can tell you in the upper ET in the second half they're popular and I thank you for the
[00:30:55] nuggets thank you for the chips thank you for taking the Pluto pop the Pluto pop wasn't that bad
[00:31:01] I was first I've had a long time it might be at the Easter show and then my wife said she wants to
[00:31:06] take out elders to the Easter show so pray for me if that actually happens because I think that
[00:31:10] would be a living hell yeah it would be uh but you know I probably need to do the same thing with my
[00:31:16] little guys maybe we can um we can uber in together sorted west side is this week hearing at the
[00:31:23] like art I'm not worried about it but it's one of those games where the home team gains a backbone
[00:31:31] for at least opening 20 25 30 and it's up for us so we've done the last two weeks hang in there
[00:31:39] and then get on with the job in the second half I think that's how it's going to get down
[00:31:43] I don't necessarily see see us smashing them I think that like the potential is there to do it
[00:31:49] uh but we'll all be happy if we just win and when when we they could performance get out of there
[00:31:54] with the two points it's all about the two points now and just staying injury free uh great start
[00:31:58] for the season we've only been three and a handful of times and we'll get the official start to
[00:32:04] throughout the week but each time we've been three and a there's been a lot of cases of us going
[00:32:09] to the pre-learnable of the grand final now that's just a stat uh times of change longer season
[00:32:16] better teams but they're doing everything they can now be there at the end of the year and it's
[00:32:21] something we don't really do usually we fight hard for it in the middle of the end but now it's like
[00:32:26] really good start and and I don't care what anyone says the draw is really favorable to us
[00:32:31] and we i'm not gonna call it easy no game's easy but if you don't think it's a favorable draw you
[00:32:37] are you kidding yourself it's insidney so after New Zealand insidney for a bunch of games and
[00:32:45] against teams that you should beat even cambera started well but you know if we complete well
[00:32:50] against cambera will beat them so it's a it's a fun time and then you know once we hit the better
[00:32:57] teams after that period we lift and they're doing everything they can to lift because we know
[00:33:03] in the past two seasons we've come into the finals a bit staggered and then it's like we're
[00:33:09] gonna lift now and it's hard to turn that switch on but at the moment going up and up and up
[00:33:14] we'll play like i don't know Brisbane panorath whoever boom time to go so i really like
[00:33:20] this year so far here and it's been a lot of fun well once we get to round 10 we have the storm
[00:33:26] in Melbourne then we have the roosters are a magic round then we have the panthers at home
[00:33:32] then we have the eels at parar then we have the broncos in Brisbane again so there's a four week
[00:33:40] period there from round 10 there's really going to sort of test the team in that middle part of
[00:33:45] the season and i just off top of my head i'm assuming that's probably when some oraging games will
[00:33:50] probably start kicking off yeah so that that four week period is gonna be quite interesting so again
[00:33:55] if they can keep stacking some wins up now it's going to put him in a great position but yeah
[00:33:59] Friday Saturday night so not gonna be easy against the tide because the tigers are gonna get
[00:34:04] hammered or we're gonna be there they're gonna benges gonna cop it like i mean in our old 360 tonight
[00:34:09] you can just know it's gonna be a 20 minute batch of out bengi not coaching 24-7 so the
[00:34:15] tigers are super there's more headlines than that did you see is this is pregame interview
[00:34:20] no i missed it there's no real game plan play what i saw that when he was on your eight in season
[00:34:25] so play what you see it's like benges he's not on fire brother he said oh we didn't have a plan
[00:34:32] for season so we're just threw him on and just try and control the game when we're down by 12
[00:34:37] that's a tough job but i'm just getting that's you got to lower a little bit of life you can't
[00:34:42] just beat that on and still the time and that's pull his work gonna bite him in the back
[00:34:46] we all like him even when he's killing us in 2005 we're still you know you can't hate bengi but
[00:34:53] yeah he's got to treat those interviews a bit more not seriously not seriously a bit more
[00:34:59] he's giving away too much it's the opposite of fit you right i mean fit you so do it
[00:35:04] and you fit he gives nothing your way and you know you can see them i ask the questions
[00:35:09] and try and get information out of fits but fits will even say sometimes you know i was gonna
[00:35:12] hold that close to my chest and just cut it off and i think that's why you've got a b right
[00:35:17] but you're right they are gonna they're gonna pop it from all circles and it wasn't a great
[00:35:24] performance for you first game and the the the new brigade and new coach it wasn't great signs
[00:35:30] but it doesn't mean they can't get it together in a week and at least turn up they'll at least
[00:35:35] turn up I would think it like that they'll bring out the old boys that will be packed house that we
[00:35:39] sold out and i think we'll have a good representation there but it is still obviously the majority
[00:35:44] tigers fans and yeah the sharks have to turn up and i know they will like this year's a different
[00:35:49] year like they have a new resilience to them uh nico was talking about how you respect the dogs
[00:35:54] last night which i found well i'm sure every word was honest but you and i watched the same
[00:36:00] gave him at nico watch we didn't play in it but we walked away going uh they're not very good
[00:36:05] whereas he was like oh i think he said they were awesome so you know yeah i think i think he
[00:36:10] was probably talking about how physical they work because they were quite physical and niggly
[00:36:14] but i thought it was interesting that he sort of mentioned that there's a rivalry building between
[00:36:18] the two teams um because you know we we do say to play them quite often a lot of those guys do
[00:36:23] live down here and i think gus is really trying to fish in our pond when it comes to juniors um
[00:36:30] and you can tell because they don't have a great junior system that's you know the amount of
[00:36:34] guys that play in our lower grades that are filtering through to the dogs i can see that being a
[00:36:39] real rivalry building up over the next few years because they've still got a lot of work to do
[00:36:44] but they're going to keep taking some of our juniors and offering them these opportunities so we've
[00:36:48] got to watch out for them and just keep giving it to them what we can because there's so many
[00:36:52] dogs fans in the shy at two it's insane i think because they had that great run in the mid-2000s
[00:36:58] right and there's a lot of younger people then then they just go for the winner and sunny bill on
[00:37:01] that so many dogs fans around here it's ridiculous yeah there's a time when we couldn't beat them
[00:37:06] and thank for that's not now but uh yeah it was it was a fun atmosphere like there were some dogs
[00:37:12] fans around in the house on on friday and uh we have to mention of course uh post game we didn't
[00:37:18] uh did an interview i guess a review with with Gary Dover then we'll join by our new friend well
[00:37:25] not new friend our friend Dylan Wright from Australian Idol and his wife Georgia uh my name
[00:37:30] morning early my name morning we're recording this so we don't know the results of uh Dylan's performance
[00:37:35] last night but he did a classic bg song and did a really good job and people seemed to like it so
[00:37:41] if you're watching this today and you've got a spare text on you just send it to so the Australian
[00:37:46] Idol number and uh type Dylan in there and it's you'll find it online and he's a terrific fellow
[00:37:50] as you would have heard but we had a lot of fun with him post game uh the coach made a brief appearance
[00:37:55] and it was uh all systems go at shark park post game we were very fortunate to be in that position
[00:38:02] and we would just grab on people when we could and and thankfully uh Dylan is wife for up for a good
[00:38:07] chat uh and definitely one of the more fun episodes we've ever done so if you if you haven't heard
[00:38:13] that go take a listen the audio is a little scratchy here or there because i'm just basically passing
[00:38:18] the microphone around but definitely perfectly audible in a sense and uh did you enjoy it Dylan
[00:38:25] we tried to make it a lot of fun i know you're not Dylan all I'm thinking about is Dylan
[00:38:30] your key aren't he he he gives us some time to me do i definitely can't sing but um he was so
[00:38:37] likable uh here and his wife uh listen to the episode and um you know you'd like to sing good things
[00:38:42] happen to good people and he just seems like someone who is having the time of his life at the moment
[00:38:47] you see the photos of him and for nuke and in the shed and the smile on his face is so authentic and
[00:38:51] genuine that um he's one of us said under his banners on the bridges he come into the shy and
[00:38:57] our saying vote for him so my gym is even posting up things saying everyone vote for him um
[00:39:04] the support that he's getting from everyone ready is pretty cool so fingers crossed he can win it
[00:39:08] all because that would be just amazing for him and yeah i would love to see that happen for him
[00:39:12] yeah and he's the sort of guy and the reason we sort of go on it about about it around the show is
[00:39:17] because yeah we know him and everything but he's the sort of fan that's that's genuine he's not
[00:39:22] he's not someone that's using it to propel himself somewhere else like like i'm not suggesting
[00:39:28] what you had to go there i'm not suggesting that he doesn't know what he's doing when he's
[00:39:34] doing interview in front of the whole stadium if he comes on our show and says this is the the
[00:39:39] text number vote for like he knows what he's doing but it all comes from a place of love and it's
[00:39:44] genuine and he's a hardcore it's our hardcore fan and the first time we had him on the show i think
[00:39:50] he sort of undersoldered a little bit but he's a proper hardcore fan and he goes to the games and
[00:39:56] has a rich history of supporting the club and that's why we are banging on about him on the show
[00:40:01] if he was just one of the guys on the show that i loved i wouldn't really mention it at all i
[00:40:06] wouldn't have thought at all so anyone who's got a beef with that you can take it up with me some
[00:40:12] other time and make sure you bring the beef because i like beef and when i'm talking about beef i'm
[00:40:17] not talking about fighting i'm talking about beef karen thanks for joining me on the second
[00:40:23] episode of catching up with coffee with karen about kranella something like that a lot of season
[00:40:30] i'm still upset about jaz is java with jaz that's so much that's such a better name
[00:40:36] yeah it is it is but you know what he didn't get the gig you got the gig take that job maybe if you
[00:40:42] can't do it one time we can do that but i think catching up with coffee with karen catching up with
[00:40:51] karen over coffee about kranella the about throwing me a little bit it's catching we need to
[00:40:55] think i would say what a word in there but again if anyone sees me out and about i'm going to
[00:41:00] willing to have a coffee with anybody so we don't get to miss these very often because i've
[00:41:04] got a new job and my wife's training at the gym in the mornings now so this is fun this is good
[00:41:10] to catch up man it is good to catch up and we will speak to you and on the time if not
[00:41:17] next same time next week if number four but enjoy your week karen enjoy your sleepless night
[00:41:22] tonight wondering who he's going to play in the second row for us you might even still have some
[00:41:28] sleepless ones after its named actually i think could be a tvc on that position well that's just
[00:41:32] classic fits he i don't think we'll know until an hour before the game and it could be something
[00:41:37] completely out of left feel like he could name euro there and just completely throw us
[00:41:41] good fun and that would just absolutely chaos and a meltdown online so bringing that on fits you
[00:41:46] wrote a second row toughen him up a little bit i like it uh yeah but that's not gonna happen
