[00:00:00] SharkCast! SharkCast!
[00:00:02] Back in the shower, tell you what, slide off, cause we're coming out with a trophy!
[00:00:31] Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, good morning everybody, welcome to SharkCast Pod,
[00:00:36] catching up with Kieran Over Coffee about Cronulla.
[00:00:40] This is SharkCast Pod, my name is Sam Shenazzi and I'm OG from 2015
[00:00:43] and I am off to a prelim.
[00:00:46] Kieran Fraser is off to a prelim and the whole of Shark Nation is off to a prelim.
[00:00:51] It's very exciting, let's go. I also have other news Kieran, aside from 750 on Saturday
[00:00:56] against Penrith in NRL.
[00:01:00] On Sunday we have three games, we have Flag Grand Final against Canterbury,
[00:01:08] 11am. We have New South Wales Cup Grand Final against the Bears 3pm on Sunday.
[00:01:15] In between that at 2pm we have NRL W Prelim against the Broncos, so it's all happening man.
[00:01:24] And that's highlighted by the NRL team. We'll get into all the other grades throughout the week
[00:01:28] but we here to discuss NRL, you and I, you and I were out at the game.
[00:01:33] We became household names in fact. We went viral by accident because of your great purchase of tickets.
[00:01:40] As soon as I sat down in those seats I went, we're in trouble here boys.
[00:01:45] And we were, our phones blew up. I was celebrating a penalty try
[00:01:52] and then we were all celebrating that great trindle try.
[00:01:56] Hey what a great achievement by the Sharks, backs against the wall, can't coach,
[00:02:01] playmaker can't play, excellent team effort, man of the match, bread and trindle obviously.
[00:02:07] But Kieran tell us how you're feeling. Tell me some things about the Prelim that you experienced.
[00:02:13] Well first things first, I just think we need to kind of take a step back and appreciate where we're currently at as a club.
[00:02:21] When you look at the resources that the Sharks have and you look at clubs like Brisbane,
[00:02:25] clubs like the Warriors, clubs like Souths that have paramounted the Bulldogs that can just throw cash around
[00:02:31] to have two teams in grand finals, the boys and the girls 80 minutes away from a grand final as well.
[00:02:39] With the resources it's just incredible effort from the club and it shows the development and the plan that we're doing is actually working.
[00:02:46] So again that's the first thing that comes to mind but Friday night was an unbelievable night at the football.
[00:02:54] It was a bit annoying though because things like getting a beer, people have a go at Sharac Park about getting a beer
[00:02:59] but we got there 15-20 minutes before the game and I didn't get to my seat until like five, six minutes into the first half.
[00:03:06] So you know they've got these great facilities but then obviously because there wasn't a sellout crowd that didn't put all the staff on
[00:03:12] and the lines were actually worse than what they were at Sharac Park so that was a bit strange to me.
[00:03:17] Can I just say that everything else was kind of better aside from the fact that we love Sharac Park more?
[00:03:23] It was a pretty cool experience.
[00:03:24] Yeah, it was cool and things like that. It would have been great to have more Sharac fans there but I just thought that kind of stood out to me as a little bit strange
[00:03:32] but there's definitely a lesson to be learned. Don't buy tickets in the front row. That will check that because otherwise you will be viral.
[00:03:39] Well, I enjoyed the experience.
[00:03:42] To be honest I was actually talking to someone this morning and they said it was so great to see you celebrating one of those tries
[00:03:48] because you're jumping up and down and you're celebrating and again this person, you'd say
[00:03:54] he was also up.
[00:03:56] He was celebrating and he's one final as well.
[00:03:59] But he was saying because you're a very measured person at the football so to see you jumping around and celebrating like that was pretty cool.
[00:04:05] Yeah, I mean it didn't hurt that we'd had 24 drinks beforehand as well.
[00:04:09] People were just like, should I? You went nuts. You jumped over the fence.
[00:04:14] My belly was full of bourbon and we were winning. It was a great time.
[00:04:17] We're not here to talk about drinking. We're not here to talk about lining up for beers, talk about the sharks and what a great effort it was.
[00:04:23] On that point about the fans and we're going to fly all over the shop here but there'll be more fans this week and there'll be more fans next week.
[00:04:30] So you know how it works. It sucks that there weren't more there. I was very pleased the amount that were there.
[00:04:36] Let's not rule out the fact there was train chaos hours before.
[00:04:41] There were only 1500 Cowboys fans in there. It was all sharks.
[00:04:43] Yeah. Now, great game. What did you make of the opening couple of sets where the forwards weren't doing hit ups?
[00:04:51] Like that was obviously premeditated, right?
[00:04:55] I thought the interesting part there was the impact that Jesse had and watching the replay,
[00:05:00] I kind of viewed Jesse's game a little bit differently to what I did live.
[00:05:03] When I was watching it live, I noticed a lot of Jesse's carries on that third tackle, second tackle,
[00:05:08] where nobody really wants to take that ball and get smashed.
[00:05:11] Jesse was being shot out of a rocket and it just made me feel so comfortable to see him back in the starting 13.
[00:05:18] So I think that was the one thing that I kind of took out of the first bit.
[00:05:22] But the forwards, they came back and they really got their stuff together and they looked pretty good.
[00:05:27] I thought Toby was absolutely outstanding.
[00:05:29] Yeah. It's not a knock on the forwards.
[00:05:31] I just thought it was interesting the first couple of sets that they were kind of not in the action.
[00:05:36] Then I had to have been premeditated because that's not how you start games.
[00:05:40] And I'm going to hit up the coach this week if we can at some point and ask him or at least ask the players what was going on there.
[00:05:46] Not a huge deal. It was just quite fascinating to me.
[00:05:49] But forwards did well like, and the number one thing for me from that game was the kicking game from both players.
[00:05:55] It was dominated by by Trindle, but Nick also had some great kicks, one that led to a try.
[00:06:02] And we just kept pinning them back and you and I were sitting right in the trial line where we scored the tries as we said.
[00:06:09] And we could see them being pinned back from those kicks in line with it.
[00:06:12] Super impressive. Kick chase was great.
[00:06:15] And all that stuff that we did will have to be amplified this week and for longer periods and we'll get into that.
[00:06:23] But that's what I thought was most impressive here in the kicking, the chasing, the rugby league 101 was spot on.
[00:06:30] The handling was okay. It was only at 74 per cent, so 31 or 42 we can improve on that.
[00:06:38] We did have almost 60 per cent possession overall though.
[00:06:42] So that's why we dominated. We had two tries to slay out with another bomb try.
[00:06:47] It could have been a lot bigger margin it wasn't.
[00:06:51] But I thought overall man like I don't have too many complaints even when the Cowboys got back into the game.
[00:06:56] That was just sort of the way the game swung. It was how good a team they are in attack.
[00:07:02] Did you have many qualms about the game itself, the performance?
[00:07:07] I thought we were in control for the most part right that the Cowboys started really well and they gave it to us.
[00:07:12] And the Cowboys if you actually look at their whole game actually played not too bad right.
[00:07:18] They pushed a couple of passes in the second half because they were chasing points.
[00:07:22] But when you get out to a lead like we did it is very hard to kind of get run down from that side.
[00:07:28] Sides of a lead. Now saying that if there's one team that would get run down by that sort of a lead, it's definitely us.
[00:07:33] So as they kind of got a little bit closer it was a little bit like hang on a minute if they score again here we could be really in trouble.
[00:07:40] But I think as long as we kept that eight point distance between the two sides I was feeling pretty confident.
[00:07:45] And they never really were able to execute on some of those Hail Mary plays that they were throwing at us.
[00:07:52] But geez they did come close like Reese Robson got out of dummy half a number of times and really tore us up.
[00:07:57] And that's something that you really have to watch yourself against the Panthers because they will always be on the front foot with that forward part that they've got.
[00:08:03] So it's going to be a huge test this week.
[00:08:06] Yeah I think everything is going to be amplified.
[00:08:08] I think that Penrith will be maybe twice as good as what the Cowboys were.
[00:08:13] And as you said the Cowboys were good.
[00:08:15] We're going to have to be twice as good as what we were and we were pretty good.
[00:08:18] So it's going to be one for the one for the ages that's for sure.
[00:08:22] 17 off flows to eight.
[00:08:24] We need to do that against the Panthers week just you can't go set for set with the Panthers.
[00:08:30] I know we like ball in hand and that kind of thing and that'll be important.
[00:08:33] If we go set for set with the Panthers, we're still probably going to not win by 10 points.
[00:08:39] You need to do something more.
[00:08:42] And so you've got to do the, this is the white so hard.
[00:08:44] You've got to do the normal stuff, the 101 stuff, then you've got to do something else.
[00:08:49] Did you notice that there was a few times when they made breaks like Ronaldo I think was one of them and maybe Sione as well.
[00:08:57] That usually they put a kick in and they didn't do that this time.
[00:09:00] They actually held the ball.
[00:09:01] They didn't risk the seven tackle sets and they played it safe.
[00:09:04] So they were actually in control.
[00:09:06] And I think when you go up against Penrith, you can't have errors.
[00:09:09] You can't have knock-outs.
[00:09:10] You can't have seven tackle sets.
[00:09:11] You need to be measured in control.
[00:09:13] So I thought that was a good sign.
[00:09:14] I've had very small communication with the coach since the win and the thing that he communicated to me and he said it publicly as well is what an opportunity this is.
[00:09:27] So things like what you just said about keeping that ball no matter what, not doing the Hail Mary stuff unless it's, you know, Jesse Ramian with a flick pass or if it's second tackle, don't let the ball go.
[00:09:40] All that kind of thing.
[00:09:41] I think that he's going to absolutely drum that into their head aside from the fact that, you know, opportunity to go to grand final.
[00:09:48] I'm sure he's got O2 stories.
[00:09:50] He'll bring up 16 with the club.
[00:09:52] Like they need to hammer all that stuff out mentally to realize what a chance they have.
[00:09:57] But I think also what an opportunity to go play your best football on the biggest stage and then shock the world.
[00:10:05] And that's what it's going to take is to shock the world, but we're here to do it and it's wild.
[00:10:11] And I kind of, I'm kind of torn here.
[00:10:13] And it's like, I know we deserve to be here.
[00:10:16] Like 100% deserved to be here.
[00:10:17] I'm a little bit shocked that we're one game away from a grand final just given the up and down of the season.
[00:10:24] But at the same time, I'm not shocked because we like our team.
[00:10:29] We know it on our best day we compete anyone we've proven that so it doesn't surprise me on one side.
[00:10:35] The other side it does.
[00:10:36] I know that's a very wishy washy statement, but I'm just sort of in this state of confusion walking around going, we're one game away from a grand final.
[00:10:41] How'd we get here? Oh, because we're really good. Oh, but this now we're fine.
[00:10:45] So as you said at the start and amazing display by the club in all grades, but in NRL in particular, the crap they went through last week from every news outlet,
[00:10:56] not just my own that I worked for, but every news outlet was over the top.
[00:11:01] There's more coming this week. I've already seen it.
[00:11:03] And I've already started this another narrative that, you know, Nico is getting played double what Trindle does like it's ridiculous.
[00:11:09] If any fans are buying into that, then please come and see me because I'll give you a stern talking to.
[00:11:14] Yeah, you got to just let that one wash over you.
[00:11:17] Give them what let them do their thing. They'll do their thing. We can't stop it.
[00:11:21] But it was a great team effort.
[00:11:23] I love the way the club addressed it.
[00:11:25] But then they moved on.
[00:11:27] I think it was last Tuesday. They had the media day.
[00:11:30] They let it go. They addressed it. They let it go.
[00:11:32] And this week it'll be the same thing.
[00:11:34] There's media today.
[00:11:35] They'll do their media. Get on with their week.
[00:11:38] Yeah, really impressed with the way the club handled it from start of the week to the end.
[00:11:43] I always get a bit worried in these situations that the club's going to celebrate a win too much on the field.
[00:11:49] They didn't. They were really happy. They're allowed to be happy.
[00:11:51] They're in the Sheds. They're allowed to be happy.
[00:11:53] But they're moving on. It's a prelim.
[00:11:55] We haven't achieved much.
[00:11:57] We've won one finals game. We've lost one finals game this year.
[00:12:01] So there's a lot more to do.
[00:12:02] And I haven't heard of any further injuries throughout the last few days.
[00:12:08] So I'm hoping that we're all okay moving forward to try and find out more today.
[00:12:12] But as far as I know, it's just healing and you know, Jesse and Ziffra probably have another light week.
[00:12:17] But at this point in time, it's all about, I think, mentally preparing for what's coming.
[00:12:22] But this team has to play for 80 because we know Penrith are going to play for 80.
[00:12:26] Might even be longer. I hope not.
[00:12:28] But I'm up for it, Kiran. I think we can do it. But it's not going to be easy.
[00:12:32] It's not going to be easy.
[00:12:34] I think if someone could start a rumor that they think Cleary's girlfriend is leaving him,
[00:12:39] that would be fantastic. Maybe we'd be in the same plane.
[00:12:42] Is this a joke? Because I read in one of the columns.
[00:12:44] Yeah, Buzz.
[00:12:45] Uncle Buzz has put out a story. So Buzz is doing his part.
[00:12:48] Usually Buzz is putting out stories against the sharks.
[00:12:51] But Buzz was actually this time, he's chronicized some drama for the Panthers
[00:12:55] by saying that he couldn't be going to Super League.
[00:12:56] So I think everybody should get out there early WWF 90s videos and get Papa Shungo.
[00:13:02] Let's try to get some voodoo going.
[00:13:04] We've got a prey here that's something that the Panthers are looking past us
[00:13:07] because the reality is this Panthers team is stuck.
[00:13:10] This Panthers team is the best side that has played rugby league, possibly in history.
[00:13:16] They've won three comps in a row.
[00:13:17] They're going for a fourth.
[00:13:19] This is not like in the 60s when the Dragons had it all.
[00:13:21] Our players of the 70s, whenever they did their run.
[00:13:23] This is in the modern day salary cap era for them to be this stacked is pretty ridiculous.
[00:13:28] But as Fitz said in his press conference,
[00:13:31] and I really encourage every Sharks fan to get on poxports.com,
[00:13:35] get onto the Sharks website and find this press conference
[00:13:37] because the way Fitz talked about the club
[00:13:40] and what we are trying to achieve and how we are building,
[00:13:44] it speaks volumes.
[00:13:45] Now you go back a few years.
[00:13:48] If you can find this out Sam,
[00:13:50] I know I'm screaming this on you, you're not going to be able to do this right now.
[00:13:53] But if you could go and get somebody to work out how many times the Sharks and Panthers
[00:13:57] in the lower grades have clashed over the last few years,
[00:14:01] I think that's the story of the narrative that should be out there this week
[00:14:04] because the Panthers have built a great nursery,
[00:14:07] but so have we.
[00:14:08] We have two lower grades in the grand final today, right?
[00:14:11] That's Penrith Esk.
[00:14:12] They did that a couple of years ago and they won all the grades, right?
[00:14:15] This Sharks team has players like Brayden Trindle
[00:14:18] who beat the Panthers in the under 20s grand final
[00:14:21] and was men of the match.
[00:14:22] TIG Wilton was playing that day, right?
[00:14:24] So again, these guys have been going up against the Panthers for years
[00:14:27] and in the lower grades they've actually had some success.
[00:14:30] Now I don't know the exact record of who's got more wins
[00:14:33] and all that type of stuff so it would be interesting to find that out
[00:14:35] but I think we are kind of like a diet version of the Panthers.
[00:14:40] The Panthers are what we are trying to build
[00:14:42] and what we're trying to aspire to be.
[00:14:44] We've got a free shot at goal this week
[00:14:46] where nobody expects the Sharks to win, nobody rates us.
[00:14:49] Again, buying into that narrative,
[00:14:51] all the experts last week were tipping the Cowboys.
[00:14:53] Somehow we were favourites but if you listen to people on Fox Sports,
[00:14:57] if you listen to a podcast, everybody was saying
[00:14:59] the Cowboys attack is going to blow the Sharks away, blah blah blah.
[00:15:02] Nobody gave them any credit.
[00:15:03] So this is when Fitsie talks about respect.
[00:15:05] So again, this is your chance to prove it.
[00:15:08] You haven't done anything yet?
[00:15:09] You've got a free shot at goal?
[00:15:11] Go and shock the world.
[00:15:12] The other thing that's coming true is what he said about
[00:15:15] the players finding their feet around the 100-game milestone.
[00:15:21] Now, Tindall's not there but he's going to be there.
[00:15:24] All the players playing together.
[00:15:27] Now remember that when that was ripped apart earlier in the year, Kieran,
[00:15:29] why did he re-sign all these players?
[00:15:31] Like people ripping him apart
[00:15:33] and now he's got the team to one game from a grand final
[00:15:36] with the same players who signed the same contracts.
[00:15:39] That for me is one of the great things.
[00:15:42] Now there is some milestones this week, Kieran.
[00:15:44] So Nick O'Hine's place is 100th game.
[00:15:47] Fantastic.
[00:15:48] There's some other milestones that you don't want to hear about
[00:15:50] if you buy into that stuff.
[00:15:52] Give them to me.
[00:15:53] We have Dylan Edwards 150.
[00:15:56] Pretty good effort.
[00:15:57] Unfortunately, and I'm just going to say it once
[00:16:00] and then we'll move on because I think it's just a milestone
[00:16:03] and it should be acknowledged
[00:16:04] but Isaiah Yeo becomes the most capped
[00:16:07] penrith player in history this week.
[00:16:10] That is so exciting that they can put an end to that.
[00:16:13] Just like they sent Valhomes to the Dragons,
[00:16:15] they sent Chad Townsend to the New South Wales Cup side
[00:16:17] in the Roosters, we can end Isaiah Yeo's season
[00:16:21] as he becomes the most capped panther in their dynasty.
[00:16:24] Mate, does that doesn't get the forwards fired up
[00:16:26] to go and bash him?
[00:16:27] What will?
[00:16:28] Look, there's going to be a lot of talk about it
[00:16:29] and we got to prepare for that
[00:16:31] and it's all going to be about him.
[00:16:32] I think when they run out,
[00:16:33] like all the coverage and everything else
[00:16:35] it's going to be about him
[00:16:36] and I couldn't care less as in like amazing milestone
[00:16:40] great player but you know whatever.
[00:16:43] All the coverage will be about Trindle and Nico
[00:16:46] and then they'll create this narrative around Nico's pay packet
[00:16:49] and all this nonsense.
[00:16:51] So as a sharks fan,
[00:16:52] you just got to block out all this stuff
[00:16:53] and think look at what they've built
[00:16:55] look at where we're going, look at there are some gaps
[00:16:58] that we need to improve, we need to find that spark
[00:17:00] and then a guy like Trindle steps up
[00:17:02] and gives us that spark
[00:17:03] and then they want to try and use that against us, right?
[00:17:06] It's us against the world here, Sam.
[00:17:08] No, I just meant like when they run out,
[00:17:10] you know the coverage before the game
[00:17:11] it's not going to be about us or about Trindle.
[00:17:13] I reckon it'll be about Nico.
[00:17:16] All leading up to it, it's going to be there.
[00:17:19] There's people who have written columns whose names
[00:17:21] I'm not going to mention for different reasons
[00:17:22] who are already saying like well the pressure is still on
[00:17:25] the pressure is not on.
[00:17:27] There's no pressure on any player this week
[00:17:29] and if the papers and the websites
[00:17:32] and the TV people want to talk about it
[00:17:35] they can but as viewers and listeners of this podcast
[00:17:39] we urge you not to buy into that unless you believe it too
[00:17:43] if you believe it too that's your prerogative
[00:17:44] but Nico Hines, I mean yeah
[00:17:47] he's got to go out and have a great game
[00:17:49] absolutely he has to
[00:17:51] but there's no pressure on these guys now
[00:17:54] because they've broken the losing who-do
[00:17:57] they've shown what they can do on the big stage
[00:17:59] no one gives them a chance this week
[00:18:02] so therefore the pressure is off
[00:18:05] internally yeah they've got to play to their standards
[00:18:07] they've got to kick ass absolutely
[00:18:09] but externally media etc. blah blah blah BS
[00:18:14] there's no pressure.
[00:18:15] Again I'm not happy if we lose this week
[00:18:18] I can't stress that enough
[00:18:19] I am desperate for this club to win
[00:18:21] I am desperate for us to win a competition again
[00:18:23] I want to feel like I fell to 2016
[00:18:25] that was amazing but if we don't somehow get it done
[00:18:28] it's literally against the greatest club side
[00:18:31] that the game has seen.
[00:18:32] Now we are aggressively looking to get better as a club
[00:18:35] we have our reserve grade now 20s
[00:18:37] in the grand final right we've got these kids coming through
[00:18:39] we're bringing Adam Van Newell Blake
[00:18:41] again put yourself in the south fans shoes
[00:18:44] who were coming first you know middle of the way
[00:18:46] last year middle of the season
[00:18:47] they signed Jack Whiten
[00:18:49] they don't lose a single player
[00:18:50] they're adding Jack Whiten and they will win
[00:18:53] every single game since right so again
[00:18:55] have some perspective enjoy the moment
[00:18:58] don't dread going up against Penrith
[00:19:00] get out there to the football because imagine
[00:19:01] if the sharks can pull this off
[00:19:03] and you weren't there like that would be
[00:19:06] the worst feeling I'm saying that as someone who can't
[00:19:08] make the game so I'm excited.
[00:19:11] Yeah and I also think
[00:19:12] aside from those emotions which will be amazing
[00:19:15] don't get me wrong you're 100% right
[00:19:16] I also think that
[00:19:18] if you're a supporter of this team and you can get to the game
[00:19:20] you can afford it you can physically
[00:19:22] get there you able
[00:19:24] go do it don't fear the loss
[00:19:26] because as we said Kieran
[00:19:28] personally last week one team is going to win
[00:19:30] one team is going to lose
[00:19:32] we got a 50% chance of winning
[00:19:34] in that scheme of things
[00:19:36] one's going to win one's going to lose
[00:19:37] Well look at the manly game right
[00:19:39] I thought manly was going to win that game
[00:19:41] and they kicked the ball off
[00:19:42] there was two players to HIAs
[00:19:44] in the first 20 seconds the first two tackles
[00:19:47] you never know what's going to happen
[00:19:48] like crazy things have happened before
[00:19:51] so hopefully Buzz keeps writing stories about them
[00:19:53] and we drum up some crazy rumours
[00:19:55] and we get the W
[00:19:57] Yeah I think that I heard
[00:19:59] that Dylan Edwards wants to go
[00:20:02] to England as well to be closer
[00:20:03] to Cleary and his girlfriend
[00:20:05] so he's going to play for Manchester United
[00:20:07] I think or something
[00:20:08] Maybe Toto wants more money again that was a rumour a few months ago
[00:20:11] let's bring that back
[00:20:13] I mean we talk about rumours we talk about concussions
[00:20:17] I don't want to rely on that stuff
[00:20:18] I want to go out there and play good footy
[00:20:20] and I'm getting voodoo out
[00:20:22] voodoo is good too but
[00:20:23] I want to just play good footy
[00:20:25] I want to play like last week
[00:20:27] but I want to cut out some of the errors
[00:20:29] I want our middle forwards to really shore up
[00:20:31] that middle particularly the Benches
[00:20:32] I thought didn't let us down but they
[00:20:35] they looked a little bit like they were going to crack at times
[00:20:38] they didn't really
[00:20:39] but they look like they were going to
[00:20:41] so I don't want that this week
[00:20:42] are you making any changes at all to that team?
[00:20:45] No I'm keeping it 1 through 17
[00:20:47] Again you're going up against Penrith
[00:20:49] you're going up against that monster pack
[00:20:50] if we go back to the game earlier this year
[00:20:52] which a lot of us
[00:20:53] when we played Penrith at Shark Park
[00:20:56] a lot of us were confident we could get the job done that day
[00:20:58] we had just been in the storm
[00:20:59] we had just been in the roosters
[00:21:00] a lot of us felt it they didn't have cleary
[00:21:03] and the Panthers just stormed through our front door
[00:21:06] so there's so many lessons from that game
[00:21:08] that I think the club can take
[00:21:09] I think our starting props that day were
[00:21:11] Cofusi and Hazelton
[00:21:12] and then we had Hunt and Tux on the bench
[00:21:15] so now we've got Toby starting
[00:21:16] and Toby's aggressive
[00:21:18] we needed a Toby performance like this weekend
[00:21:20] not versus Manly, sorry not versus like the storm
[00:21:23] so again a bit more experience there
[00:21:25] we've got Hunt back on the bench
[00:21:26] we've got a little bit more there
[00:21:28] so I would keep the same 17
[00:21:30] go with the power game
[00:21:31] hopefully we can get more minutes into SIPA
[00:21:33] because I know he's a little bit busted at the moment
[00:21:35] so again hopefully we can use him
[00:21:37] He did look good but again
[00:21:40] we need everybody on deck
[00:21:42] and our best 17 is that
[00:21:43] best 17 right so the one cool
[00:21:45] thing I thought I saw in the Sheds after the game
[00:21:47] was the smile on Daniel Ackensen's face
[00:21:50] when the team was singing
[00:21:51] the songs and watching how happy he was
[00:21:54] and how he was in amongst
[00:21:55] all the boys and how much he actually just loves
[00:21:57] this club and loves his teammates
[00:21:59] and again that is the environment that Fiti
[00:22:01] is creating he obviously would have been extremely
[00:22:03] disappointed to not be in that 17
[00:22:05] but he still understood that I have a job
[00:22:07] to play here I might have to get on the field
[00:22:10] because of an accident and I'm going to go
[00:22:11] do my all I'm not going to kick stones about this
[00:22:14] I'm going to go support my teammates
[00:22:15] so I thought that was really cool and the other
[00:22:17] cool thing I thought I saw in the Sheds
[00:22:19] when they were singing the songs was E.T.
[00:22:22] in the background video recording it all
[00:22:23] and singing along too I thought that was unbelievable
[00:22:25] Is that right?
[00:22:27] Yeah if you watch the videos you can see E.T.
[00:22:29] with a huge smile on his face and his phone in the air
[00:22:31] recording all the boys singing and he's singing along too
[00:22:33] That's pretty epic hey looking at the play
[00:22:35] minutes from the weekend
[00:22:38] Toby Rudolph 46 minutes
[00:22:40] Kofusi 34
[00:22:42] McKinnis 70
[00:22:44] so Talakai 16
[00:22:45] Williams 35
[00:22:47] Hunt 11
[00:22:48] Hazelton 30
[00:22:50] so Talakai and Hunt really
[00:22:52] not playing much Talakai because of injury
[00:22:55] we think we're going to need more out of
[00:22:58] all four of those guys
[00:22:59] on the bench against the Panthers
[00:23:02] once we got out to that big lead
[00:23:03] of like 24 points at half time
[00:23:05] we still hadn't used Sifah or Hunt
[00:23:07] so it was kind of like we were saving them a little bit
[00:23:10] for Sifah for obvious reasons
[00:23:12] I'm not sure about the Hunt situation
[00:23:14] but again
[00:23:16] this is Royce now
[00:23:17] this could be his last game for us
[00:23:19] and we've seen him come on and absolutely destroy teams
[00:23:21] like the Broncos game for example this year
[00:23:23] we need to see Royce at his rampaging best
[00:23:26] and we need to see him going
[00:23:27] after those big Panthers forwards because again
[00:23:29] if you look at the two teams
[00:23:31] where I think we could potentially
[00:23:33] get the Panthers is I rate
[00:23:35] our centres better than their centres
[00:23:37] I think our wingers are potentially
[00:23:39] better than their wingers I know Tau'o is unbelievable
[00:23:41] but I think the consistency
[00:23:43] of the two that we've got is pretty handy
[00:23:45] but our bench has the potential
[00:23:47] to really stand up compared to their bench
[00:23:49] their bench is a lot of up
[00:23:51] and coming players whereas I think our bench
[00:23:53] is kind of established around that 100 game mark
[00:23:55] now or after 50 games
[00:23:57] and they're ready to rip and tear
[00:23:58] so hopefully our bench can help us out
[00:24:00] Alright it's going to be a fun one Kieran
[00:24:02] we've got a short episode today
[00:24:03] for lots of different reasons but
[00:24:05] we might try and grab you later in the week
[00:24:07] from your destination so we'll see how we're going
[00:24:09] with all that sort of stuff but we definitely want to pump out
[00:24:12] some episodes this week
[00:24:14] because we're so excited I know you're pretty excited
[00:24:15] so appreciate your time
[00:24:17] hey lots of fun on Friday that was
[00:24:19] a good one, it was a memorable night
[00:24:21] it was from start to finish it was a good one
[00:24:23] We met a couple of shotcasters out there too right
[00:24:25] so that was pretty cool we met a few yeah
[00:24:27] like all over the shop actually in all sorts of different spots
[00:24:29] it was really nice to meet everyone and
[00:24:31] yeah it was just as I'm sure
[00:24:33] most people had a lovely time like we did
[00:24:35] it was just a lot of fun
[00:24:37] You know what was even better though?
[00:24:38] It was Saturday because Saturday
[00:24:40] it's September in the Shire the sun was out
[00:24:42] the mood was good you could actually feel the vibe
[00:24:45] in the air and again I was a little bit
[00:24:47] dusty because I had a lot of fun on Friday night
[00:24:48] I had my daughter's fifth birthday party
[00:24:50] so that was a tough carry
[00:24:53] but you could feel the energy
[00:24:55] when you were walking into like I was doing some groceries
[00:24:57] before and things like that people had their sharks
[00:24:58] here on you know it was like the temba
[00:25:01] in the Shire when the sun was out mid-20s
[00:25:03] it was unbelievable I had to
[00:25:04] deal with a few things on Saturday morning
[00:25:06] and the gentleman I was dealing with
[00:25:09] was just all about the sharks I had my hat on
[00:25:10] I think or something he was just like wow it was last night
[00:25:12] and all sort of stuff so very exciting
[00:25:15] times we know sharks fans
[00:25:16] our listeners are there 24
[00:25:18] 365 but there are another whole set
[00:25:21] who come out for this time of year and they're
[00:25:22] very welcome and hopefully I can add
[00:25:25] some numbers this week because the Panthers are going to travel
[00:25:26] so that's the other thing I would say is the Panthers
[00:25:28] are going to travel this week so if you can get to the ground
[00:25:32] definitely do so
[00:25:33] wear your colours have a good time
[00:25:34] and let's hope we can get the win
[00:25:36] let's go to the grand final extraordinary times
[00:25:39] Kieran we will leave it there my friend
[00:25:41] catch up with you when we can
[00:25:43] and we will just
[00:25:45] ride on a high
[00:25:46] because enjoy the time
[00:25:49] but definitely have some expectation
[00:25:50] don't go into this game without any
[00:25:52] because I feel like we deserve some expectation
[00:25:55] shock the world baby
[00:25:56] shock the world
[00:25:57] up up Kranala we will talk to you all soon
[00:26:00] let's go
