[00:00:30] All right, all right, all right. Here we go, SharkCars Pod. It is Victory Monday catching up

[00:00:39] with Kiran over coffee about Kronala. My name is Sam Shunaz, you know, G from 2015,

[00:00:45] the show's brought to you by Dyson logistics, the Royal Moody Yacht Club in Port Hacking

[00:00:48] and Jason Horser, Crips and Crips Real Estate. And we are joined as we are every Monday

[00:00:54] by Mr. Kiran Fraser. It's been so long since I've seen you. I've forgotten what you look

[00:00:59] like. No, we we gest, we were hanging out at the game and we had a good time. And Kiran,

[00:01:05] welcome to your Monday morning catch up over coffee. I've got a coffee. I didn't get a

[00:01:10] coffee today. I didn't have time. I thought I had time but I didn't have time. Just

[00:01:13] a minute of time. We'll just pretend. Yeah. Well, time is a man made constructs so that

[00:01:19] isn't actually easy. So you can never actually technically be late because there's no such thing

[00:01:23] as time. So that's a Kobe Bryant quote, but I was never actually able to source that quote

[00:01:27] so I don't know if it's real. It sounds real. It does. It does, but that was one of the great

[00:01:34] nights at the football last night, seeing a lot of friends running into Terry on the way

[00:01:39] out. So Joshy there. That was just I was such a fun night of football, but jeez, I was

[00:01:45] stressed at certain points man and you got me through it. So I appreciate you. You're

[00:01:50] okay. I mean, I can tell you a bit stressed, but I mean who wouldn't be watching that

[00:01:54] opening 25 minutes? Yeah, we keep it real as Sam and I just did not I didn't I didn't

[00:01:59] have the highest of hopes. And so to go down by 18, it was just yeah, it was scary. Now

[00:02:04] we should point out on victory Monday, we also have lives and we both have children close

[00:02:11] to us in close proximity. So you may hear one or two or three of them, but that's okay.

[00:02:16] This is live podcasting video stuffing would avoid doing great evening 12 o'clock. I've

[00:02:22] been out at Shark Park full house. Always a lot of fun and I thought the atmosphere was

[00:02:27] actually a step up this week here. It definitely picked up that second half, that first half

[00:02:33] was pretty grim, but the second half was definitely it was kind of pumping and you can see

[00:02:39] that the sharks players would definitely fight up. And I think once that trend will try

[00:02:43] with scored, you could kind of feel the whole building trying to change and really pick

[00:02:48] up. So yeah, no, it was that was a great night football. I had so much fun. I was buzzing

[00:02:52] when I got home for a good hour to watch the whole replay and I stayed up late. It was

[00:02:55] very hard for me. Yeah. So Raiders, I wouldn't say they burst out of the sheds early. We just

[00:03:02] kept dropping the ball. We gave them a lot of ball, particularly down our own end. And

[00:03:07] they scored tries in the 12th minute, the 18th minute and the 24th minutes are going back

[00:03:14] in order. 24th minute Danny Levy with what I call NYC Tour to Cup Try the Week, which

[00:03:21] is the dummy half bar job, which you should never allow. And we both had a little bit of

[00:03:26] a moment there because we could see it coming and the team didn't. And prior to that, we

[00:03:31] had Xavier Savage with a really nice individual try, pretty bad read from Jesse Raider. I mean,

[00:03:41] it's not even about a ridge, it's about tackle. And then Nico and cover couldn't really help

[00:03:45] out. And the first try was James Schiller down 18 nil after well up until the 28th minute,

[00:03:54] even at that point I hadn't lost hope because Campbell were playing such a basic game of football

[00:03:59] and we saw that in the second half. They just didn't have much to throw at us. Once

[00:04:03] we started lifting all over the park, particularly with the ball, we were on our way. And as soon

[00:04:09] as Trindle Slam met Bull down, we kind of had a feeling they weren't going to go away. And pretty,

[00:04:17] I guess pretty proud of the effort. Like no one's going to claim the first 25 minutes being

[00:04:21] proud. But after that 18 nil against anyone's hard to come back. It was a good effort.

[00:04:26] Yeah, there was three tries in nine minutes from the Sharks and it kind of really changed when

[00:04:31] Hazelton came on the field and and Tux came on as well and Jack Williams. It was just a real momentum

[00:04:38] shift there. But yeah, when they went down 18 nil, there's only 15 minutes left in the first half.

[00:04:43] You just kind of go away. This is going to be one of those days, right? And they'll miss you

[00:04:47] what 481 games in the middle or experience and Kaffirzy looked busted on that first tackle.

[00:04:53] Yeah. Old mate sitting behind us was absolutely giving it to poor Kaffirzy your game. I don't know

[00:04:57] what Kaffirzy ever did to him. But it just didn't feel like it was going to be one of those games.

[00:05:03] And then Blake started running more and that snowball of momentum was unreal.

[00:05:10] And going at half time at all scores level, you've kind of like the Sharks actually were playing

[00:05:15] good football and the Raiders tries but just they were terrible to let in. But they didn't look

[00:05:21] as spectacular as you were saying. So yeah, there was definitely feeling more confident half time.

[00:05:27] But even the first second half, like the start of the second half, the floodgates didn't open

[00:05:31] right away. No, but we did look better automatically. Obviously the coach got up to them at half time.

[00:05:39] Even if it was 18 12 and half time, I would have taken it and thought we're still going to go on

[00:05:42] with this. But 18 all kind of just confirmed for me what was happening. You know, it's such a simple

[00:05:48] game you hold the ball, you win. They did that in the second half mostly. Yeah, there were some times

[00:05:52] when Canberra offloading, it seems like they're best thing to do is they offload the big guys offload.

[00:05:57] And we contained that fairly well. There were moments where we didn't, but overall I thought

[00:06:01] we got to hold that. And and that was an improvement in the second half especially. So you could see

[00:06:07] as the game went along, they were tinkering getting it right. Now the attack came really good.

[00:06:12] Like some really fun tries. There was at least two bomb tries as well in the second half.

[00:06:18] Yeah. And there was just so many different opportunities where they kind of carved them up and

[00:06:22] like that one with Ackinson when he went through. Like if Ronaldo was just a second slower with that

[00:06:27] content. Yeah, that was so close on replay. It would have been so good to see him get a try at

[00:06:33] Ackinson because you know like he came on and he did a real job for us in the middle too. And

[00:06:37] at one stage I think Ken McKinnis was playing front row and Ken got through the full 80. And I was

[00:06:41] looking at some of his stats and they were just off the charts. So you kind of love to see them

[00:06:46] kind of keep going and get those tries. But even the guitar try right on the bell. Like

[00:06:51] they just kept fighting and they kept throwing things at the raiders. And it was just such a

[00:06:55] good night at Chuck Ack even seeing Mortimer Terry that didn't run it for me. Like it was just

[00:06:59] such a great time. I saw the tall man walking in and I you know I got no issues with Terry.

[00:07:05] We had a little hug and got up and saw his family. He misunderstood. I don't know we've

[00:07:10] too much time already on Terry on the podcast but let's go through the team. Kirin because we did

[00:07:15] a little pod with Gary last night didn't really have time to get through the team but let's go

[00:07:19] through the team man look because they're all played so well. I thought well Kennedy actually wasn't

[00:07:24] one of his better games but still did enough good things to impress me particularly second half

[00:07:30] ran for over a hundred meters. I have one triassist fairly safe under the high ball. I think

[00:07:38] defensively in the first half caught out a little bit but overall a strong enough game for me.

[00:07:45] Well and that kicked any podium for that tri before it was Ronnie right? And I think

[00:07:50] it was like he was three meters out from the tri-line and the angle that he did it was so tight

[00:07:56] like that was just had to be absolutely perfect for that tri. So that was probably one of the most

[00:08:01] impressive things for me. We were talking before the game that maybe he was due for a tri because

[00:08:06] he's been a little bit quiet on that aspect but it's been a pretty solid season from Will.

[00:08:11] And then again like he did bounce back because their confidence must have been

[00:08:15] rarer after that first half like of the first half. Been down 18 after the week they had against

[00:08:21] the Tigers you know they didn't they didn't they kept playing football and they got themselves out

[00:08:26] of it and I think Will was definitely one of those guys and that kicked for me was so impressive.

[00:08:30] Sitting where we sit we have a nice aerial view it's not particularly close to the action but

[00:08:34] nice aerial view. I mean it's close when they're over our side of the field but I was watching

[00:08:39] the body language after the tri is Canberra scored and to be honest from another about really bad

[00:08:45] eyes everyone know but in all seriousness the language didn't look good. It didn't look like they

[00:08:51] were consoling each other and going it's all gonna be good. Can McKinnis said the talk was fine so

[00:08:56] of course we take that as the truth and not suggesting it wasn't but the body language because

[00:09:01] you look as a fan you look to them and it didn't look good. There were some times where they were

[00:09:05] standing around and they just looked kind of lost in that in goals. I remember there was one after

[00:09:11] one of the trials and I think Nick was on the big screen and he just looked at it and he just

[00:09:16] going oh no we've got scars from last week still what's gonna go on here but they they

[00:09:23] had that resiliency and that's when they go to that Trindle try and he put that ball down. He

[00:09:28] slammed that down like he was angry and it just really kind of set them off on that momentum

[00:09:33] and really sparked him so yeah but to your point when I was looking at them behind the goals I

[00:09:38] times thinking Jesus could be a little night. Yeah Cione Katowa another strong game scored a try in

[00:09:44] the end ran for over 100 meters busted eight tackles and a pretty good game from Cione. You don't

[00:09:52] remember too much wrong with him if we flip over to our other wing out Rinaldo and Maltalo just

[00:09:58] under 100 run meters to try is just very involved and I really love 2024 and although he's one of

[00:10:08] our best players out there. I mentioned it to you I don't know if it's his hair cut but he looks younger

[00:10:13] I can't understand why he looks younger but he definitely does and two line breaks as well from him

[00:10:20] he was everywhere and that break in the second half when they were running and Rodney was

[00:10:27] all over the place here at the euro we're on the floor but in Katowa scored they were exhausted

[00:10:31] they were so tired from running around like they did. I mean Ero could have had a double he could

[00:10:35] have had a double right there and he kind of stiffed him but yeah but obviously lead up was

[00:10:40] incredible. Well it also Ronnie's with the challenge too because we were down 18 near at that point

[00:10:47] right so if he didn't get that challenge right you know who knows maybe the Raiders kick out to 24.

[00:10:53] You know I think I think one more try is probably too much psychologically like obviously it wasn't

[00:10:59] enough like they could have scored as we saw 36 points but psychologically it might have been

[00:11:05] too much that one more try so I'm glad that that happened. Jesse Ramey had an unhappy start to the game

[00:11:11] defensively in an error or two but he flipped it around and he was one of our best players out there

[00:11:17] I keep saying that they were all pretty good. Jesse Ramey ran for 160 meters, three offloads

[00:11:24] very involved in the game as well which we needed these guys at the back just to be heavily involved

[00:11:28] they were but I think he's going to get better. I really do. Yeah I think that offload

[00:11:33] for Cipher that was put down early in the game and that defensive read off the scram like it

[00:11:38] it wasn't the best start for Jesse and I think it was just a lot of him trying so hard because he

[00:11:43] really cares and he was really putting in and those stats 160 meters, three offloads

[00:11:49] he was really ripping in and again I've said this a few times but the bounce back and the mental

[00:11:55] resilience that they've showed there from Jesse especially after that unhappy start you know

[00:12:00] that was pretty special. Make my voice is absolutely gone from screaming last night.

[00:12:05] I mean I'll sit next to you weren't too bad we had some good fun though in those tries.

[00:12:09] Second game for the Sharks, Kyle Iroh had a terrific game. scored his first NRL try

[00:12:14] ran for 130 meters, busted eight tackles, made 10 with no misses and I thought although he was

[00:12:21] involved in that first try that came to score it but anyway a really strong game from Kyle Iroh

[00:12:28] I was super impressed with him, really good attitude, looks calm out there not much more he could have

[00:12:35] done. The double pump for Ronnie's try for a Guide's second game to get us to incredible.

[00:12:43] That was so much class for a Guide's second game and he's been so patient at this club and

[00:12:49] yeah I left out I left out tricist sorry I left out tricist yeah it's interesting because

[00:12:55] when he played that game last time was that 2022 wasn't? Yeah it was a pretty unhappy start from

[00:13:01] memory but I think was he did we have him on the wing in that game? On the wing unhappy first game

[00:13:06] pretty good so it's not sorry unhappy first tough yeah. Yeah so he did the bounce back but again

[00:13:11] this time he was actually playing in his preferred position and he just looked like an NRL player

[00:13:17] so obviously that does create some headaches because again you've got Nikola coming back so

[00:13:21] sit up we'll probably go back to that position but again he's dealt 18th man for most of this season

[00:13:26] that looks like so again he's always going to be ready to go and already ready to be caught upon

[00:13:30] if they need him so it's great to have that sort of depth in the squad it's just how much longer can

[00:13:34] we keep him around? Yeah and I'm not convinced either way of where he's going to be next game. I'm

[00:13:39] not convinced he won't play I'm obviously not convinced he will play and the coach was asked about

[00:13:44] in the press conference he celebrated Joe can we give me some time just to evaluate the win

[00:13:48] have some fun during the week of the buy but it was a good enough performance where you go

[00:13:54] maybe he's not going straight back because if the coach and coaches see a benefit with him being

[00:14:00] there and tele clapping elsewhere maybe they run with it so let's see how it plays out not

[00:14:05] suggesting he's sticking there but I don't think it's an automatic go back to himself well as

[00:14:11] cup or wherever I really don't after that performance. Harves terrific Brad and Trindle we probably won't

[00:14:18] speak enough about him and how good he was because Nico was also really really really good but

[00:14:25] on Trindle he scored the triad that got us back in the hunt I thought he kicked really well

[00:14:31] and had a try assist and just very safe and secure out there he was a little quiet

[00:14:39] and then he put his foot down for that try and then it was game on for Trindle

[00:14:44] and I thought he played a nice combination with Nico as in he stepped up when Nico was on the

[00:14:52] other side of the field of doing whatever really happy with the way they're jelling it's only 9 or 10

[00:14:58] games in as a duo so long way to go. I thought Nico was terrific his kicking game was awesome he wasn't

[00:15:05] in one of those moods where he has to do everything all at once it was tempered and kicking

[00:15:11] game as I said exceptional running the big camp before was back and forth up in down the field

[00:15:18] great game play really nice with the ball too a lot more running from him he ran for almost 100 meters

[00:15:24] and he looked good in passing and overall super happy with him and for him but he's running game was

[00:15:31] it was relentless and you know even with a minute or two left he was still taking the line on which

[00:15:35] was kind of stressing me because I just wanted to get out of there with no injuries right but

[00:15:40] he's running game he's kicking him he's goal kicking as well was believable what about that

[00:15:46] the second goal that he kicked where it looked absolutely bullshit even the lady behind us was

[00:15:51] spraying him and then the flags went up so I have no idea how we pulled that kick off that was

[00:15:56] an unreal kick and it's important to mention the goal kicking because because down 18 nil you got to go

[00:16:03] six points at a time otherwise it's just a bigger hill to climb and they weren't easy kicks

[00:16:08] they were all kicks that were out wide and they were hard but the most impressive thing to me was

[00:16:13] the control that Nico showed and the kicking game and he kept pinning them back into their own 10-15

[00:16:20] meters putting it in the touch you know just saying all right well let's not get ahead of ourselves

[00:16:25] here and you know put it deep and kick it out and just forcing the raiders because the raiders had

[00:16:30] so many errors in their game and the guys who historically caused us problems like the

[00:16:35] horse bruce of the world like they think he had two drops something smith is what's his name

[00:16:41] the 13 and for the raiders smith yeah he had two drops I think savage had two drops like the

[00:16:46] raiders dropped a lot of ball and again if you were patient and you're willing to go set for set

[00:16:51] with them they were giving us those errors and Nico's kicking game you know didn't let them off

[00:16:55] the hook and that was really great to see now forward packed did a great job given it was a bit

[00:17:01] makeshift uh tall tom has since started the game played 50 minutes round for 100 meters 32 tackles

[00:17:07] he looked just fantastic with the ball hard to stop and super happy for him just to be anywhere in

[00:17:14] that 17 I don't care where we start top the bench fantastic already and confusie had an injury in

[00:17:19] the first tackle his number is a little bit skewed by that but he did not playing 35 minutes

[00:17:25] ran for about 70 meters uh 21 tackles and we'll stick with the middles can McKinney's

[00:17:32] unbelievable I didn't realize to Gary told me he played the whole game yeah after it's Gary

[00:17:38] told me for the whole game ran for 150 meters made 48 tackles missed one really showing up that

[00:17:45] middle both in attack and defense and I thought it was just a superb effort from him I'm glad

[00:17:51] he's getting two weeks off and some of the balls that he caught were like bad passes or they

[00:17:58] would they were just behind him or just in front and there was so many times where it looked like he

[00:18:01] was going to drop the ball but he just held on to it and just kept going and he I saw a little bit

[00:18:07] from fits like that credited him for the turnaround and just sort of saying that when you got a guy

[00:18:12] that can McKinney's who's going like he does it just forces everyone else to lift and yeah that second

[00:18:18] half I'm 99% sure he was playing in the front row which for a guy of his size he's just absolutely

[00:18:24] insane and to bust out those meters and do the 48 tackles did you say yeah like that's insanity me

[00:18:30] and the whole 80 minutes but there was a performance you probably could have given him a rest

[00:18:36] given the way that the game goes so I think we finished the game with an extra interchange we didn't

[00:18:39] use so he obviously wanted to stay up there and improve a point but yeah he's a guy when we first

[00:18:47] signed in my I didn't think he was he wasn't on my radar he wasn't someone that thought would be a

[00:18:52] good fit for us because you know we had Blake Braily and then once I started thinking about him

[00:18:56] in the 13-roll I wasn't sure because of the size but in terms of value for money like he

[00:19:03] doesn't take a week off he's just he's insane he must not be all there to because to be his

[00:19:09] size in the play how he does I just don't know how he does it I think it's a good sign for anyone who's

[00:19:16] doubting the coach because over summer coach had the chance to put Delphanook in there starting

[00:19:24] lock uh-uh, Camry can have showed enough last year that's his job and they might they might share

[00:19:32] it when Finican's back off with all respect but point is Cam's not a benchy anymore so coach

[00:19:40] saw that coach made some changes well he's also an L 18 months or so two years back from that

[00:19:46] ACL injury that he had right so you know maybe that was the plan was to ease him back that first year

[00:19:51] in 2022 and then last year was kind of you know working out how does he fit with Dale because there

[00:19:56] were some times where it didn't really work but having him in that role for us now and as a starter

[00:20:03] you know he can't go back to the bench there's no way you could put Finican in my mind over

[00:20:08] in that role we saw in number 14 Dan Atkinson come on played about 10 minutes which is the most

[00:20:15] he's actually played near our role and he was playing as a roving lock middle uh-he ran for about

[00:20:22] 30 meters, pretty important meters made seven tackles he impressed the hell out of me just for

[00:20:27] his courage and his commitment to the cause because we weren't really sure how he was going to play

[00:20:31] we know in the middle he could sort of play a hooker kind of role but he was just doing hit-ups

[00:20:35] like everyone else as if he was three times the size and I mean if you if you watch the game back

[00:20:41] and I'm not saying it's because of him but Canberra did get back into that game with that try

[00:20:46] and they brought Jack Williams back onto the field so he was replacing Jack Williams they brought him

[00:20:51] back on just to show it up but it wasn't a slight on Atkinson Atkinson did a role and he was really

[00:20:57] really good Billy Burns had an important role as well like he came on for 30 minutes he starts

[00:21:03] to not amazing but you watch him off the ball and particularly watch his 14 tackles no misses

[00:21:09] he's a bigger boy than we gave him credit for and you watch him Karen stop the offload that was

[00:21:16] his number one defensive role was almost second-toe man in but he had these big arms

[00:21:23] and I just noticed it on the replay I was like wow look at him go he's really stopping that offload

[00:21:27] and he was really physical and he also did a lot of the hit-ups that you know is that first tack

[00:21:33] like first off the set hit-up that no one really wants to take he did a lot of the tough stuff

[00:21:38] and that really impressed me because again he's in a limited role he probably knows that he's not

[00:21:42] going to get a lot of games given the guys that are in front of him but he really stepped up

[00:21:47] and delivered and I think having him on that bench kind of gave us that stability because when we

[00:21:53] spoke last week it was kind of like the issue wasn't the one to 13 it was how do we

[00:21:57] fill up a bench because we didn't have enough players really available but he and I can just

[00:22:02] they really stood up and did a job for us but Jack Williams don't mind goodness well just

[00:22:07] what haven't heard anything or at least contract status that I haven't but I do want to start

[00:22:12] to go find me for him but you're throwing the you throwing this is your inexperience of podcast

[00:22:16] and you're throwing the storyline out because first we've got to get to Tuku how to Pua playing

[00:22:23] I thought we were going in number order no we're just going in whatever order I didn't tell you

[00:22:26] about to be fair 20 minutes 90 meters of runs 9 9 tackles no misses one error I don't know how

[00:22:36] happened they put him on his back somehow the ball popped out but it's never happened before

[00:22:41] a terrific effort from him 20 minutes which is twice as long as he's lost in and to be fair by

[00:22:49] the 20 minutes he was done he looked pretty gassed a terrific addition to the 17 and I thought he

[00:22:53] played a role too right right when it's someone to come on and cause bit of damage he definitely did

[00:22:58] and they used him a little bit more out wide too like he was running off Nico a little bit out wide

[00:23:02] and I think the impressive thing for me I missed it because I was getting back to my seat but that first

[00:23:07] set after half time when I watched the replay he had two heat ups in that first set like

[00:23:12] it seems like he's got a opportunity and he knows that um he's worked really hard for it and

[00:23:18] he's earned it and that interview that he did with you he kind of spoke about he felt like when

[00:23:22] he got these opportunity last time yeah because of injuries and things like that where as he now

[00:23:26] feels like this is his chance to actually make an impact and he yeah he doesn't leave a stone on

[00:23:31] turn like he's very busy for a man of his size but yeah he's the biggest human I've ever seen

[00:23:35] for someone that young to have that awareness as well of why he was playing for the roosters

[00:23:41] and then being okay with it and then turning it into a positive that's pretty cool

[00:23:46] yeah and most young guys that are that size then they come through the ranks they're like the

[00:23:50] best player in their age group or they're the team that they play in right so they've all got

[00:23:54] those inflated egos and heads and for him to have that self awareness as you said it just really

[00:23:59] speaks for them to the character and that's why you know I saw some people that were surprised

[00:24:03] that we resigned him for this season given that he didn't play in a real last season but you know

[00:24:08] Fitz has been with this guy and it up for a number of years before he came to the sharks right

[00:24:12] so he obviously knew what he had there and you know we haven't signed many players for the roosters

[00:24:17] I think he's him and Ikevalu have been here but he has been a tremendous pickup for us and

[00:24:23] again it just gets me excited about the depth that we're building for next season as well but

[00:24:27] you know still a long way to go this year yeah so walking out I saw Royce Hunt had a quick chat with

[00:24:31] him and he reckons he's back I think he said after the buy I'm pretty sure he said that if not

[00:24:38] it's very close so there are a bunch of middles coming back a fellow like Tuku has done enough to

[00:24:44] really put at least an idea in the coach's head well maybe it's not an instant you get back

[00:24:50] to play for the Jets maybe you do stick around and we'll see how it plays out could you imagine

[00:24:55] the size of that bench having Hazelton Hunt Tuku on their bike what a fun we talked about Jack Williams

[00:25:03] 46 minutes I would imagine man of the match ran for 170 meters 27 tackles just phenomenal the way

[00:25:11] he ran the ball just changed the game off the bench couple of stints was relentless came from

[00:25:19] Canberra maybe had next drive to play good against them but I think overall just doing for

[00:25:24] the team is in theory playing for a contract I'm sure he's pretty secure at night well I'm

[00:25:30] a secure at night knowing that someone's going to pick him up but I think the point is he wants

[00:25:35] to stay and I'm sure they want him to stay so it's just a matter of working it out but

[00:25:40] phenomenal game changing performance much like the Warriors game yeah and I think back to last week

[00:25:47] right and last week because again we were down on troops the logical thing was give Jack a star

[00:25:53] because he's been so good in the weeks before right but he was out on an edge and I think he made

[00:25:57] 55 meters like last week versus the Tigers he goes back to that more familiar role in the middle

[00:26:03] coming off the bench and yeah he changed the game when he came on and that's not the first time

[00:26:07] that he's done that this season and the progression of Jack Williams since he first came in the first

[00:26:12] grade to now it's it's amazing and some players really like when you first start watching them

[00:26:18] and you might not be a fan of them and you might not understand what the coach sees in them

[00:26:23] you definitely see that now with Jack Williams like he has transformed his game completely around

[00:26:27] he's unrecognizable to the guy when he first came into first grade now and you know he's got

[00:26:32] a hundred games now on the books yeah he's been at the sharks since what 2018 or so yeah he's been

[00:26:38] for a long time I mean it was a guy before that I wouldn't have cared if we lost I would have

[00:26:43] just said yeah look that's the cost of doing business as we're developing our 17 but he is a

[00:26:47] must keep for us now because the punch that he gives us off the bench it's just ridiculous

[00:26:54] you know he's quickly rocking up the charts becoming one of my favorite players and

[00:26:58] it's kind of like that 2016 season with Bacouillard because when Bacouillard would come on he would

[00:27:02] just have those runs and change the game with that momentum and Jack Williams can give you that

[00:27:07] so I'm a huge Jack Williams fan and that's a sentence I didn't think I'd say probably four five

[00:27:11] years ago absolutely terrific the last gentleman we're going to talk about is the hooker Blake

[00:27:16] Brailly I think last night if you weren't sitting comfortably under a nice umbrella on Blake

[00:27:23] Island at least for last night maybe you were maybe he turned you around a little bit ran for 40

[00:27:28] meters which for him is a lot kind of set up his own try it doesn't get the assist but he's set

[00:27:33] up his own try with it with a kick and a chase a very strong performance engaging the lines to take

[00:27:40] you got to add meters to the 40 meters officially there's a lot of line engagements which we're not

[00:27:44] giving you meters for and really pressuring the referee for penalty sometimes it works and

[00:27:49] it didn't it was a lot more vocal even when he wasn't getting the penalties he was doing the old you

[00:27:54] know in us arm gestures and that kind of stuff and he had a very involved game I thought he was

[00:28:01] one of our best and again he did that without 481 games of intero experience around him in the middle

[00:28:07] right he had to step up for us and he really did that that try that he scored was unreal

[00:28:14] but the most impressive thing for me was the line engagements because he was really getting out and

[00:28:18] making the Raiders work you know for around marker and just really dragging those forwards onto the

[00:28:23] ball and that made McKinnis look unreal and some of the other guys as well in the middle because

[00:28:27] that was the real concern for this game was the middle was how can we handle that veteran

[00:28:32] Raiders pack and full transparency I actually tip the Raiders this week and you know I don't often

[00:28:37] to be as the sharky to me I just didn't see I just I thought that our middle was not going to have

[00:28:43] enough to go with those veterans and Blake Braley did a great job of exploiting those old legs

[00:28:48] and you know he absolutely took them down he was a really that's probably one of the best

[00:28:53] Blake Braley games I've actually seen I didn't see anything wrong with it and very very influential

[00:28:59] in that win I thought you know along with Jack Williams some other guys starred in a team that

[00:29:05] did really well but Blake was one of our best we need to mention the second rowers both kind of

[00:29:11] understated in their performances but still really strong games T. Wilton did what he did very

[00:29:16] solid 29 tackles almost 70 meters very physical from him the one that will shock you a little bit is

[00:29:23] we're not shocky but Tala Koe ran for about 30 meters really yeah but he played 53 minutes he made 14

[00:29:31] tackles don't forget he's probably also engaging a lot in those sweet plays kind of staff

[00:29:38] so you get out a few more there unofficially well they also gave him a bit of a rest different

[00:29:42] he had a rest but it shows you different role they can use him with and still win the game comfortably

[00:29:49] the gory goes back to that position then it becomes where do you put siffa where do you put

[00:29:55] euro and how do you come up with that balance there because yeah yeah hero definitely showed something

[00:30:01] we know like siffa has been in our top three players most games this whole season right that's

[00:30:06] probably the the quietest game but again Jack Williams had a quite gaming that same role the week

[00:30:11] before right yeah so is it we're so used to Nikora in that role and it probably speaks of a lot

[00:30:18] of volumes around what what he actually brings to us as well yeah there's there's a bunch of

[00:30:22] inner role players there but it's working at how to put the right pieces in the right places

[00:30:26] that is really you know going to determine where we finish this season because there's a lot of

[00:30:31] good players there but it's just finding out what is the best 17 because you're going to bring back

[00:30:37] for nuke and you're gonna bring back Royce Hunt you're gonna bring back Hamlin Ueli

[00:30:41] you eventually you're gonna get Toby back right so some of these guys that are performing now

[00:30:45] again do not make it right so there's gonna be some tough decisions in the next few weeks which

[00:30:49] is a great position to be because we could barely feel the 17 this week I don't want to sound like

[00:30:54] more of a weirder than I am and I'm his biggest fan but if there are chance Royce doesn't come

[00:31:00] straight back in it seems to me as you know the average punter watching the game he gets hooked

[00:31:08] more than any of the other middles it seems like he will push like a pass or something like that

[00:31:13] and then you'll find him off the field pretty quickly after it so I don't know if that's a learning

[00:31:18] curve thing or if that's a you know an in-house thing or maybe I'm just you know making that up in

[00:31:23] my head but yeah maybe that but I actually think of Fursi's busted because he was really taped

[00:31:30] up around his thighs and I went back and I watched that first tackle maybe three or four times

[00:31:35] and he was in agony it was he was on the ground for that whole set of six like I thought he was

[00:31:41] gone I didn't think he was gonna be able to get up I don't know how he was able to shake it off

[00:31:44] but he was he's by was heavily taped up so maybe Fursi gets a spell to rest up because he'd had

[00:31:52] a big workload this first month or so with the competition I think of the feeling if we weren't

[00:31:57] short all those people last night he may not have come back on or he would have come off at least

[00:32:04] when he didn't so yeah there was so much padding around that leg and you know he's a guy that's

[00:32:10] off contract as well with that mutual option that you know the club has to make that decision on

[00:32:15] and he's got to make that decision as well with the way mutual options work so tough call for the

[00:32:21] sharks yeah it is it is because you've you've unearned Tukes who's Tukes sorry Ferdinicko

[00:32:28] for when he's listening who's obviously on contract Hazel turns on contract hunts on contract

[00:32:34] you're bringing in Finala Blake you've got Williams who you want to keep that's a balancing act but

[00:32:40] I just I don't see Fitzgibbon bringing a guy to the club and then walking away from him after two

[00:32:45] seasons without there being something historically all kind of perfect going wrong with that signing

[00:32:52] it hasn't been no he's been solid okay he hasn't been amazing he hasn't been lights out but A

[00:32:58] we've seen the improvement this year and B last year wasn't a disaster at all like I wouldn't blame

[00:33:03] him for a lot of what went wrong so probably you need to look at your middle depth chart then see

[00:33:11] you know what he's on and then how much he's going to play if everyone's fit and then you kind of

[00:33:16] work backwards from there but I don't think it's an easy call for the club yeah it's a tough one

[00:33:21] it's a real tough one and you kind of say well where else could we spend the money you know

[00:33:25] how many medals do we actually have and you know it's ironic that we're having this conversation

[00:33:29] because last week we had four injuries and you know we don't have enough to really cover and fill

[00:33:34] the team right so there is obviously a magic number there but again I look at those guys down

[00:33:41] to talks who's probably at the bottom of that depth chart and I say look a lot of these guys would

[00:33:46] be an in-n-r-all 17s in other clubs right and so we do sacrifice the depth in other positions

[00:33:53] like the back row which you know we are skiing in so you know maybe that's a fits-giving

[00:33:59] thing where he's got a magic number in his mind of medals that you need to win a competition

[00:34:04] so yeah that's a tough call. A tux for example if he's playing at West Tigers

[00:34:09] week in week out at the moment or whoever canna breathe one of the lower teams maybe that's not

[00:34:14] the best way to go for his career either like this is probably the better preferred option absolutely

[00:34:18] yeah and I think that's the case with euro as well right you know if he was at one of those lower

[00:34:23] teams he could be a scapegoat right he could have you know been in that nother luma roll where

[00:34:28] you know every try they get scored down his edge you know the fan base turns on him and you know

[00:34:33] 18 months later he's off in you know the soup league right so I think that's the value of

[00:34:38] the the salary cap raises it's allowed clubs that are developing players to keep their depth

[00:34:44] you know we're having a discussion with the young fellas last night uh I think it's Ryan and Daniel

[00:34:48] from out paramount away sorry if I've got your name wrong guys. You've only sat next to him for 14

[00:34:52] years but you know yeah yeah that's terrible that sorry guys follow me on social media so I can

[00:34:58] actually remember what your names are I'm so sorry that's even worse dude. I'm such a big week

[00:35:03] I'll apologize on behalf of Sharkhouse for that comment we were having that discussion right I've

[00:35:08] got guys like Stone Street that are buying their time and historically you wouldn't have been

[00:35:12] able to keep them at your club because they would have got money to go elsewhere and taking

[00:35:16] that opportunity but with the way the salary cap is rising and the minimum salaries you're you

[00:35:21] getting a chance to keep those guys at your club yeah for a little bit longer and working at how

[00:35:25] to actually put those pieces together to build that best squad so it's actually another thing

[00:35:30] that we haven't touched on is that you know Euro getting that tackle on Foggyd in the last 17 minutes

[00:35:36] of the game on the last tackle. Correct me if I'm wrong with fifth tackle right in front of us

[00:35:41] Ronaldo with the kick pressure and then that led to Euro making the tackle both exceptionally

[00:35:48] great work yeah and so that was for us the score then was 2418 and we scored the next set

[00:35:54] to go up by 12 right so you know Ronnie chasing out there but then you know having that you know

[00:36:00] he's 24 now he's had a ridiculous amount of games in New South Wales Cup he's got that experience now

[00:36:06] he hasn't been rushed and this it was like a he played like a guy that had a lot more experience

[00:36:11] and I think that's kind of going to be what you're going to see from these guys who are applying their

[00:36:16] trade in New South Wales Cup a little bit longer versus coming straight out of the 20s like you know

[00:36:21] five six years ago what we would see like when we're in our day mate he's debu for example right

[00:36:25] he was plucked straight out of the 20s and in that broadcast game was it was probably one of the

[00:36:29] harder debuts I've watched and you know full credit to Ronnie for bouncing back from that like yeah

[00:36:34] he's quickly become one of the great wingers that we've had this club so yeah it's exciting

[00:36:38] so with the euro the other good thing was that he'd waited so long for his second chance

[00:36:43] and he absolutely came out of the blocks quick like he did nothing wrong he's hit up to a great

[00:36:49] every hit up was sort of 10 meters if not more and he looked really strong from the start even when

[00:36:56] they were down 18 years you're looking at him going I he's hitting up pretty good and like he

[00:37:01] looks good so he took charge he waited so long took charge of the situation and impressed everyone

[00:37:08] and I think that was what we were looking for in the trials but in hindsight a the trials are just

[00:37:14] a waste of time be you're playing Park football almost as the much a man says the cream rises

[00:37:21] to the top said it hey that stood out to me and it's like well why was like speaking this guy

[00:37:27] a lot of a trial match who cares yeah absolutely and in the trials there's so many different players

[00:37:33] out of position and the guys aren't going at 100% full speed and you wanting guys to step up and

[00:37:40] then stake a claim but at the same time like the even the opposition like it's just a weed it's a

[00:37:45] weak incoction and I don't know how you ever get that perfect balance with trials they're a necessary

[00:37:51] evil but I love watching them and I love now that Fox actually shows them because that was such

[00:37:56] a black hole for a while and it makes this season go a little bit longer so I like that

[00:38:01] but yeah he was yeah tremendous you know we're starting to say I'm like another podcast over here

[00:38:05] just wrapping euro so much that's okay that's okay tell us about your Korean chicken and chips

[00:38:10] you got yesterday oh so I went to Birdman which is one of the food trucks at the venue so I saw

[00:38:18] they had the Easter show and I don't know why I was like well yeah let's let's back up so

[00:38:22] yesterday had a big day you for some reason went to the Easter show on Easter Sunday and then

[00:38:26] you backed up for the footy so you're the man of the match really that was that wasn't really

[00:38:30] tough tough innings for me going to the Easter show on Easter Sunday without having pre-booked

[00:38:35] car parking so I didn't even ask I assumed he did no so it didn't really book parking and

[00:38:43] I was gonna take the bus I was gonna drive to my mother-in-law and take the bus from there she lives

[00:38:48] out rows anyways but um the reality of taking the bus it struck me in the face after you know

[00:38:54] the reality of going and doing the Easter show all day having show bags and trying to get the kid

[00:39:00] the bus and you've probably heard one of my daughters screaming her head off this morning they're

[00:39:04] just absolutely fell at the moment um bit of sickness in the house so we pulled the pin on that we

[00:39:09] just drove out then as you're driving into home bush there's signs everywhere on these billboards

[00:39:13] saying there is no parking do not drive they're lying to you see you can get a car spot there

[00:39:18] not in the p ones and things like that but there are some other areas that you can get spots into

[00:39:23] so don't listen to them don't use public transport drive great chaos I don't want to touch that one

[00:39:30] but also I don't want to be a podcast that makes grand headlines so we might just we're not gonna

[00:39:35] edit that none of this is being edited but if you want to use public transport use it you and I

[00:39:39] are kind of off at the moment but someone else you know everyone lives their own life continue

[00:39:44] I was just mad during that now in the paper sharp cars causes traffic chaos um in the picture of my

[00:39:50] mug up there um but the one thing that hit me was how expensive the Easter show was right and

[00:39:56] this is the first time that I've ventured out there with kids and um you know I got a coffee there

[00:40:01] and uh I got an ice coffee because I don't trust those vendors to be a good coffee so I got

[00:40:06] an ice coffee it was $11.50 for a nice coffee yeah it was six dollars for a bottle of water um

[00:40:14] I got a a Pluto pup uh thereafter we had one at the football two in two weeks yeah

[00:40:21] yeah it's becoming the thing that was $15 um I could not believe the price of of these things

[00:40:28] yeah it's not good isn't and I'm not even starting on the showbacks mean the showbacks where

[00:40:33] they're like $30 a showback these days it's yeah all right look you know if they need to charge those

[00:40:38] prices because they never need to make money I get it but there's definitely some gouging going

[00:40:42] on it's $11.50 for a coffee yeah yeah so I guess it's like a lot of those events especially

[00:40:48] out in that suburb you know they they tend to just get used six dollars for a water

[00:40:55] what were we talking about before this Easter show Korean Korean barbecue chicken

[00:40:59] so I got that I got the uh the popcorn chicken which had some sticky uh red sauce they called it

[00:41:06] so I had no idea what that was it was kind of like a spring sour and chips

[00:41:11] that that was reasonably priced I think that was like $15 so it wasn't too bad especially considering

[00:41:16] the assault that I'd copped earlier in the day at the Easter show um it was really good that

[00:41:20] was the first time I've actually gone to one of the food trucks besides the bratwurst uh the guy

[00:41:25] that that does then and I was really impressed with it and because it was during the 20s game

[00:41:31] and if anyone wants to have the 20s when they did not go well it got me through the 20s game but

[00:41:37] yeah it was just a little bit much I felt a little bit sick I couldn't really finish it but um

[00:41:41] I'm a big fan of the food trucks and I want to go check out maybe the Zenbara one next time

[00:41:45] yeah absolutely we'll take our um our membership cards get our 10% off but uh yeah the experience

[00:41:51] is pretty good for us yesterday that we we had some drinks beforehand it was nice in the E-Team

[00:41:56] members bar area which is a good touch yeah overall a really good fun day for us and we've got two

[00:42:03] points which is the most important thing now we have entered the week that is well for me personally

[00:42:11] and maybe a bit less for you but still I know who historically speaking an important week in your life

[00:42:15] we are in WrestleMania week officially oh yeah so next Sunday is night one because you know if

[00:42:21] you haven't heard it's 2024 and for a few years now it's over two nights like it hate it however

[00:42:28] you feel we're doing two nights next Sunday and Monday is three in time and you did just send me

[00:42:33] a funny thing on a sign felt at wrestle posting of the rock holding up his belt saying moops

[00:42:39] yeah big week hall of fame you've got NXT paper view you've got last Mac down first roar

[00:42:49] etc etc so it's a big week and and I am excited it's going to be intriguing to see how it plays out

[00:42:56] particularly the big storyline yeah so I have not really been a WWE guy for a while um I like AEW

[00:43:05] which is a little bit more reminds me a bit more of ECW it's a little bit more violent a little

[00:43:10] bit more chaotic a little bit more edgy but since they brought back the rock he has been unbelievable

[00:43:18] to watch and it's something that it's can't miss TV when he's on the TV and he's swearing and you know

[00:43:25] he's kicking the crap out of Cody Rhodes and you know he's covering the blood on the belt like

[00:43:30] it's actually it's the most exciting I've been for a WrestleMania probably in 20 years because

[00:43:35] for me the WWE just got a little bit stale for me and you know it was very kitty and I wasn't

[00:43:41] really enjoying it but you know they've got punk now and it's looking like when they go to Netflix

[00:43:47] there's even talk where it won't be like censored as much we're just going to be pretty out there

[00:43:53] because they've got that security with Netflix they can kind of do what they want so having that sort

[00:43:57] of edginess to it has been unreal so I'm really looking forward to WrestleMania and that's a

[00:44:01] sentence I didn't think I would say up there with Jack Williams being one of my favorite players

[00:44:06] so the rock the rock is a bad guy is probably one of the most exciting things I've seen in

[00:44:12] in that space in such a long time he does it well he does it really well you know there's so many

[00:44:17] I think the strength obviously is there's so many characters at the moment you got the Cody

[00:44:22] thing you got Seth even all made Drew stepped up punks on the mic like it's really intriguing stuff

[00:44:29] and I think also if I look at my calendar what's that today Curent so this week I think maybe Thursday

[00:44:37] Friday our time you better jump on to any available content provider you can find Curent

[00:44:44] and the Bray White documentary will be out this week that's going to be amazing I saw some of

[00:44:50] the like clips on and I know you're a big bra guy you're sure that you've got his own real

[00:44:57] about your brain shirt I'm a big bra guy and the the preview the short the trailer I don't know

[00:45:03] what have you call it that already gets you the way they've done it it looks like they've really

[00:45:07] gone about the right way the brothers heavily involved and I I'd dare say there'll be some tears

[00:45:13] shared watching that talker yeah and so if anyone doesn't know who bra is yeah he passed away

[00:45:19] in these mid 30s very unexpectedly had some health battles super sad and he was really in the

[00:45:27] prime of his career is one of the biggest stars that they had so it's yeah it's going to be a pretty

[00:45:31] emotional watch but wrestling is awesome again and it is a sentence again I did not think I would

[00:45:36] say so if you haven't watched wrestling in a long time I suggest you check it out because it's like

[00:45:41] the late 90s which was some really fun times to watch wrestling now I won't necessarily be watching

[00:45:48] live so if you send me something on social media about the sharks and it's in that kind of ballpark

[00:45:54] and thankfully we've got the week off I probably won't respond to 12 to 24 hours because I'll be

[00:45:59] catching up and thanks to Southern Dan I cannot go on social media because if I block all these

[00:46:05] things block all these words which I've done Dan just goes I can't believe the much air man's alive

[00:46:11] and came off a top turn buckle and wins the belt you know it's like thanks a lot Dan see the key

[00:46:15] there is just blocking Dan I think yeah but then he'll send me something like you know I saw

[00:46:21] aero up the street and gave him a kiss and he's a photo and I have to see it and that I won't see

[00:46:27] it you know but he's also the type of guy that would just appear at your house too and be like hey

[00:46:31] I noticed that you've blocked me so shout out to Southern Dan but I think that's happened before

[00:46:38] that's actually how it made it we got we give him a shout out for sure yeah it's going to be

[00:46:43] a fun week sharks got the week off so that's a positive in a lot of ways I know we'll miss watching

[00:46:48] them play but it's a long year and it's been a rollercoaster for four games already it feels a bit

[00:46:54] longer to be honest but you know what three three and one obviously should be four and oh but

[00:47:00] with three and one it was really looking like it was going to be two and two heading into the

[00:47:04] point yeah that would have been really deflating um you know with that start that they had I was seeing

[00:47:10] how did this season start so promising after that Warriors game and then we go into that first

[00:47:14] by two and two and then again we've got the Raiders in like three or four weeks to play again so

[00:47:21] yeah so happy that they turn it around the bike would have come in a better time you know

[00:47:25] get some players back getting a core a back at least it's going to be we're going to need them because

[00:47:30] I don't want to like I don't want to temper this I don't want to bring everyone down but we beat

[00:47:35] the Warriors away who are fantastic so good job we beat the Bulldogs who aren't that great

[00:47:41] we lost to the West Tigers who aren't that great we beat the Raiders who aren't that great so

[00:47:47] only reason I say that is Warriors game Raiders game unbelievable circumstances great wins

[00:47:53] memorable wins wins will be talking about in ten years time but when you look at the draw ahead

[00:48:01] it gets more difficult now we are getting troops back but the thing I like about that

[00:48:04] Kirin is we can work our way into it we can ease our way into it yeah and we've had a tough run

[00:48:10] we've come through mostly with Lung Colors and then it's time to go that South game the first

[00:48:15] game back after the buy is going to be a really interesting game south of got all sorts of issues

[00:48:20] right so the good thing is south of gotta win because you don't want to play south if they're like

[00:48:25] oh and six because yeah that's just not a fun time to play them but the good thing is now that

[00:48:30] they've got to win who have south got this week they've got maybe the Warriors yeah at home as

[00:48:36] well so they weren't particularly good against the Bulldogs look they were fine but they were not

[00:48:41] anything more than that the thing about them is they have a lot of good players and they can if

[00:48:47] they can work out the tweaking you can get it right yeah they'll be a good team a lot of people

[00:48:52] have them in their top four coming into this season there's a lot of personalities there

[00:48:56] a lot of egos and a lot of different styles of football that they're trying to play all at the same

[00:49:00] time so that will work it out eventually but that's a danger game for us so again getting Nekora

[00:49:08] hopefully Royce Hunt as well maybe for Newkin money to be backed by then I'm not sure

[00:49:13] I'm not sure about that it's going to be interesting to see yeah actually you know he's got a fraction

[00:49:18] face doesn't he? I think he'll be at least a month and then you've got the home game versus the cowboy

[00:49:24] so maybe we can try and see if we get one of those quest hotel rooms for that game you did have

[00:49:29] the eye on those didn't it was the people in the balcony shout out to you yeah tell us how much

[00:49:34] that cost yeah well I'm sure we could inquire ourselves but it looked like fun either want to

[00:49:39] you don't want to fill that balcony too much though but it looked like fun there was one guy standing

[00:49:44] on a railing at one point they're having quite nerves so definitely don't do that people hey thanks

[00:49:49] you time and thanks for hanging out yesterday and we'll know how to talk to you again in the near future

[00:49:56] as soon as we can of course and have a good week I'm going to make sure that my daughters are nowhere

[00:50:03] near my office barely here today they've just gone absolutely bonkers today so sorry about that

[00:50:10] every time you heard them before or my wife trying to vacuum hey they got to live their life it's

[00:50:14] a little bit it's not all about us it should be about me more I think you you have that nice

[00:50:19] argument today with your beautiful wife alright we will talk to you soon and just remember

[00:50:25] a wrist thing these real people are fake cheese up up see you my man

[00:50:55] go out and play without fear now's the time to see good for more for the shots are here

[00:51:25] oh

[00:51:39] up up

[00:51:42] the boys in the black white and blue

[00:51:45] up up and all up they're on the sharks in you

[00:51:54] sharks the sharks forever go out and play with our big

[00:52:02] now's the time to see good for more for the shots are here at the shots
