[00:00:00] SharkCast! SharkCast! Turn your port slides off because we're coming out with a trophy!

[00:00:56] SharkCast analyst, OG listener from 2015, sporting a great beanie because it is winter in Sydney time and just a hell of a bloke, Mr. Josh Bolling. Hey Josh, welcome to the show my friend.

[00:01:09] Thank you, another lovely intro as always. Good to see your face mate.

[00:01:13] Thank you, not many people say that so I'm glad that you said it, so thank you very much.

[00:01:17] Big week in Sharkland as always, we're going to get to it on this Flagship episode.

[00:01:22] Thanks to everyone who tuned in to Catching Up with Kieran on a Monday night, which was kind of fun.

[00:01:29] The episode's been consumed by a lot of people, so thank you very much for that and thanks for all the support you give us in general. We really appreciate it.

[00:01:37] Sharkland, Josh, huge week. We got a triple header at Shark Park on Sunday.

[00:01:43] The high-flying flag, the higher-flying NRLW and the pretty, pretty good NRL team are going to be out there playing the Knights.

[00:01:51] It should be a full house. If it's not already sold out, it will be.

[00:01:54] The weather is looking a bit better this week is what you've told me.

[00:01:58] The original forecast was not great. That's turned in the last sort of 24 hours, which is good news.

[00:02:02] And overall pretty good time to be a Sharks fan. Some injuries that we have, which we're going to hopefully overcome in the coming weeks.

[00:02:11] The King of Karimba, Nico Hines, will be back in probably three weeks or so, barring any kind of last-minute hiccups.

[00:02:19] So things are looking up for the Sharks.

[00:02:22] And coming off their biggest ever win in Queensland, Josh, 44 points to nil. What did you make of that victory?

[00:02:29] I was quietly confident going into the week. I knew we had a lot of things going against us with some injuries and, you know, some unease about how we've been performing.

[00:02:39] I was quietly confident going in, but did not expect a 44-nil shutout.

[00:02:44] I was super impressed. One of the best performances of the year.

[00:02:47] I know people can say it was just the Titans, but they've been in red-hot form, you know, the last four to five, six weeks.

[00:02:53] So really, really happy for the boys to go up there and get the job done and be so professional about it too.

[00:02:59] So completed 30 of 36 sets, four line breaks to nil.

[00:03:04] So Titans didn't make a line break. The high-flying, attacking geniuses that they are didn't make a line break.

[00:03:11] And overall, a strong performance from the Sharks. We lost the penalty count 12-5, Josh.

[00:03:17] Did you realize that when you were watching it?

[00:03:18] Oh yeah, I was in some of the group chats.

[00:03:21] I was the guy putting up the penalties on the screen and I was just like, oh yeah, another one.

[00:03:26] I didn't realize it was that many there.

[00:03:28] And the six against as well were not in our favor either.

[00:03:31] I think in total between penalties and six against, it was like 16 or 18 to eight.

[00:03:36] It was something ridiculous.

[00:03:37] So we did a lot of good defense as well, which is another important aspect of that win that we didn't really get much ball at all in that second half to put any more points on and we shut them out.

[00:03:47] Yeah, and there was some times before halftime where, some moments before halftime where we were on our line for repeat sets and held them out again.

[00:03:57] A really good Cam McInnes trisaver later in the game where nothing was in the line and he just stopped one of their big guys from scoring with sheer strength.

[00:04:05] And that's the kind of thing we need to see, you know, four weeks out from the finals.

[00:04:09] So did anyone in particular stand out for you?

[00:04:12] I thought for me it was Jack Williams, man of the match.

[00:04:15] And then I just, I thought everyone else did their job.

[00:04:18] I was very impressed with McInnes and Braley given the situation they were put in, but I thought one to 17, they all did a job.

[00:04:24] Yeah, honestly, one of those rare games where you can't fault a single player.

[00:04:28] Even, I mean, even your Jaden Beryls and your Billy Burns went out there and did a job.

[00:04:33] Obviously Jack Williams goes without saying was monumental.

[00:04:37] Just every time he touched the ball, he was bumping blokes off, making post contact meters, tackled everything that moved.

[00:04:45] I thought Blake Braley really stood up in this game, really showcased his leadership.

[00:04:52] Was playing hooker, but was still almost playing halfback out of hooker.

[00:04:57] It's kind of interesting how like, like that try he set up for what Talakai scored when he got out of dummy half and he wanted to go right to just put a kick in.

[00:05:06] He got blocked off by the Titans defender, took three steps out of dummy half and just like fizzed this cutout ball to Talakai.

[00:05:13] It was just, oh, it's an era. Sorry, but it was just, he was sublime.

[00:05:17] Yeah.

[00:05:18] That's the, that's the guy I want to see every week.

[00:05:20] I know maybe he can't with, you know, when Trindle and Nico are running the show, but he's got so much potential and so much talent that want to see that all the time.

[00:05:28] Yeah. It's interesting, Josh, because you're right.

[00:05:31] Like we do want to see that week in week out, but then that makes him as dominant a playmaker as a Heinz or Trindle.

[00:05:38] And maybe, and I'm just speculating, maybe there's not room for that in this team that we have.

[00:05:42] Yeah. I think there is.

[00:05:43] I think he cannot have enough of that, but maybe he tones it back and in toning it back, sometimes he doesn't do it.

[00:05:50] I mean, that, that could be a thing, but we've seen how the two times he sort of had to play the halfback hooker thing, he's done really well.

[00:05:57] So we know he can do it. Maybe that's a thing for the coaching staff to work on to say, Hey, everyone's back, but we'd like you to sort of play, you know, maybe half of that role or a quarter of that role is just do it a bit more because we've seen what you can do.

[00:06:13] And yeah, Cam McInnes was excellent as well in that role.

[00:06:17] A little bit different for him. And we talked about it on a few of the shows since the game.

[00:06:22] And I want to ask you, Josh, when they're back to one to 17 full strength, what reason would you give me that they can't do that style of football for say majority of games?

[00:06:33] Well, I was actually going to ask you the same question. I mean, this power game that we're playing through this simplified middle of the road game plan. Is it a thing that, you know, Trindle and Nico want more ball? So we unable to play that style because it's worked every time we've done it this year. We've probably done it three or four times.

[00:06:52] Obviously, the two standouts at the Melbourne game and this Titans game, but we've done it a few times and we just like teams cannot handle us when we get that role on through the middle. And I don't know why you'd go away from that because playing that style, you can still do your flashy stuff on the end of sets, which we did this game.

[00:07:08] Yeah.

[00:07:09] I don't know if it's just a thing where Nico and Trindle want more ball, which obviously you want the ball in your half's hands, but it works for us. Like the forwards seem like they're three times better.

[00:07:22] Are they better than what they are when we play this style? Are they being held back?

[00:07:25] I'm not sure. I mean, maybe it can be a thing where we saw when Penrith beat Parramatta last week in the game after us and they went nuts in the last five minutes. Maybe that could be some sort of fallback for them where they're down by six.

[00:07:40] They need to win the game, level the game. They're starting out their own 20. Maybe that is, you know, there's a sign. They say something, a spoken word they say,

[00:07:49] and then they click into that range of power football. And that can be a fallback because it works. I mean, it works for a bunch of those sets that we had on the weekend.

[00:08:02] So maybe if they need to get out of jail, instead of sort of doing the more Hail Mary stuff, that's their go-to because it's very powerful.

[00:08:13] And I think against the majority of teams when they're playing that way, and if they're playing a Parramatta or a Roosters or a Storm, which they will be in the finals,

[00:08:21] I still think it'll be really effective, even though those teams are better than the Titans.

[00:08:26] 100%. I mean, when you get momentum like that in footy, as everyone would know, like it's hard to get, it's hard to lose it and it's hard to get it back.

[00:08:34] And when we had it on the weekend, like in the commentary, like Vossie was saying, like the Titans could not handle it.

[00:08:39] You know, Braley would jump out of dummy half, get Jack Williams, you know, running onto the ball and then quick play of the ball.

[00:08:45] And then McInnes would dive back in behind the markers.

[00:08:47] And it was like, I don't care who you are, you're not going to be able to get back on side and defend that five tackles in a row or three sets in a row if you can do that.

[00:08:55] It's obviously, it's a lot of energy and it takes a lot of effort to do that for an entire game or for three or four weeks in a row.

[00:09:02] So I'm not saying we need to go and do that every week, but come finals time, I think that's the game plan.

[00:09:08] Yeah, because the finals game is obviously traditionally tied up better defense.

[00:09:12] So why wouldn't you do that?

[00:09:14] I mean, I'm having sort of these flashbacks to, and people won't believe I'm saying this, but the Chris Anderson style of flat football and what they did on the weekend.

[00:09:24] Okay, it wasn't that, but it was in that ballpark where it was just a power game, just quick play the balls, short passes.

[00:09:32] And then when we got into opposition territory, it got a bit more flashy, which was great.

[00:09:38] But yeah, I think it's something that the coaching staff can look at.

[00:09:42] And it's almost like, as I said, a little trick in their back pocket now where they probably didn't have that at the start of the year because they wouldn't have thought they'd be in this scenario.

[00:09:50] And we had, I can't remember who it was, I apologize, but one of our listeners wrote to us a couple of times saying, what happens if all four guys of the spine go down?

[00:09:58] And we kind of laughed and went, you know, whatever.

[00:10:01] But it's kind of happened.

[00:10:02] Not all four, but you know what I'm saying.

[00:10:04] And yeah, the coaching staff would not have planned for this.

[00:10:09] I mean, they would have thought of scenarios.

[00:10:11] They would have spent an hour or an afternoon going, well, what if this happens?

[00:10:14] I'm sure they do have those scenarios, but they wouldn't have trained all summer for it.

[00:10:18] So interesting style of football that they have up their sleeve.

[00:10:22] What are we going to do with Dan Atkinson when Trindle and Hines are fit?

[00:10:27] Tell me, you're the smarter one out of the two of us.

[00:10:30] What are we going to do?

[00:10:32] I think he misses out, which is really tough.

[00:10:36] The only thing you could argue is that Dan obviously takes a back seat to whoever is his seven.

[00:10:44] Whether he's playing with Nico or he's playing with Trindle, he takes that backwards step,

[00:10:48] lets whoever is playing there do whatever they need to do,

[00:10:51] and he just chips in with a couple of kicks and some runs and shoves the ball on.

[00:10:56] Maybe overall, he's a better partner for other of them,

[00:11:00] but also like Trindle and Hines are better players than him.

[00:11:06] So it's a tricky one because obviously you're going to take the two better players

[00:11:09] when push comes to shove.

[00:11:12] But I don't know.

[00:11:13] It's tough, man, because he's playing so well.

[00:11:15] And he fits the system so well.

[00:11:18] But gun to my head in a finals game, I probably would rather Tricky and Hines being there.

[00:11:24] And if we can just get them playing how they do by themselves together, we're on to a serious winner.

[00:11:30] I just love the calmness that that guy brings.

[00:11:33] And I'm going to say maturity, but he's like 23 and played like 10 games.

[00:11:37] But the calmness in the way he does his job, we just don't have a lot of that necessarily consistently.

[00:11:46] Like I'm not saying the other guys don't do it because they do.

[00:11:48] But everything we see out of this guy, he just does the best of his ability the whole time.

[00:11:54] And I think that is something that we can say, well, not every player in the NRL does that.

[00:11:58] But this guy, whether he's on the wing, whether he's a fullback, whether he's a half, he doesn't let you down.

[00:12:05] And okay, the wing thing was not a major success, but he still did it to the best of his ability.

[00:12:11] So he's got to try?

[00:12:12] Yeah, that's all you can ask from him is to do that.

[00:12:15] So what would you do, Sam, if it's coming down to week one of the finals and all three are available?

[00:12:20] I'm probably, and I hate saying this, I'm probably making room for him on the bench.

[00:12:25] And one of those big guys is going to miss out.

[00:12:27] Probably whoever plays the least minutes, unfortunately.

[00:12:30] And I'm telling the other three guys that you're going to play extra minutes.

[00:12:33] Because he would be there as backup, but he would also be there when it's 14 to 12 or when it's, let me make it better, when it's 20 all.

[00:12:47] Just to have that extra guy out there.

[00:12:48] And he doesn't have to take the field goal, but he can.

[00:12:51] And then you've got another foil because they look out and they go, was it Nico?

[00:12:55] Was it Trindle?

[00:12:56] Was it Atkinson?

[00:12:57] I don't know.

[00:12:58] I'd kind of get a bit tricky with this stuff because I rate this guy so much.

[00:13:02] I'm not saying he's the greatest footballer of all time.

[00:13:04] I'm just saying it seems like he really has a place in this team now.

[00:13:09] And it's not fair to Trindle or Hines to remove them because they've been great, like no doubt.

[00:13:15] They haven't had a lot of time together.

[00:13:16] None of the three of them have had time because they've all been, well, Trindle and Hines have been out for different reasons for different periods of time.

[00:13:25] So we still haven't really seen Trindle and Hines show over a long period.

[00:13:29] But I just don't think Atkinson is missing out at this point.

[00:13:33] And that means someone on the bench is going to miss out, which sucks.

[00:13:36] We've got a whole bunch of benchies who've done a great job.

[00:13:38] But I think you do that.

[00:13:40] I think the very, very worst, Josh, is 18th man.

[00:13:42] Very worst.

[00:13:43] And then you're not hoping for an injury, but if something happens, well, something happens.

[00:13:47] But a good problem to have.

[00:13:50] I do.

[00:13:50] I think the bench option isn't terrible because Trindle and Hines are more than likely going to be coming back in that week one.

[00:13:56] Not under injury clouds per se, but they're never far away from one when you're coming back from recent injuries.

[00:14:03] So it's not a bad option if one of them goes down in the finals.

[00:14:06] You've got a little Dan Atkinson to come on and replace him.

[00:14:08] It's not a bad shout.

[00:14:10] Otherwise, the game's probably over if you lose one of them mid-final.

[00:14:13] Huge shout outs to the four and the five.

[00:14:15] Kyle Iro and Sam Stonestreet.

[00:14:18] Really monster games.

[00:14:19] We've seen Iro with a number of huge games, particularly with his meters.

[00:14:25] He's starting to show a lot more skill with setting up tries and line breaks and that kind of thing.

[00:14:30] He's finding his feet in first grade.

[00:14:31] And Stonestreet in his third game had his best one out of the three and scored two tries.

[00:14:38] Ran for almost 200 meters and didn't miss a tackle and looked pretty good out there.

[00:14:43] And he'll just get better and better when he gets his chances.

[00:14:47] Obviously, Ronaldo comes straight back in when he's ready.

[00:14:50] Sam Stonestreet's letting everyone know that he's the real deal and that he's next cab off the rank.

[00:14:55] And maybe when it's contract time for one of the two guys, which is I think Ronaldo's next.

[00:15:00] You know, there's something to think about.

[00:15:02] Yeah, I mean, should have had three tries.

[00:15:04] Got unlucky with that drop ball, but was really good.

[00:15:07] I have been a little skeptical on Stonestreet.

[00:15:09] I just think more so with his size, getting dominated through his hit-ups.

[00:15:13] But he absorbed contact a lot better on the weekend.

[00:15:17] The more games he plays, the more comfortable he's going to feel within himself and then within the team.

[00:15:22] And over the next coming years, he'll get fitter, he'll get stronger, he'll get bigger.

[00:15:27] And there is something to be said with, you know, if Ronaldo does decide to, you know, not take up that contract with us,

[00:15:35] he's the guy.

[00:15:36] And then we can keep Katoa on that, you know, that relatively modest deal that he's on.

[00:15:42] So that's why I think you've just got to play your cards right here in terms of keeping everyone happy.

[00:15:47] But knowing if Ronnie wants to go, we're probably going to need to know sooner rather than later

[00:15:52] so we can keep Sam because people will start calling.

[00:15:55] Yeah, and we're not making anything out of the Ronaldo contract.

[00:15:58] Like what we know is that he said publicly that he wants to stay, but he's looking at other options

[00:16:04] just from a financial point of view more than anything.

[00:16:06] And no one's knocking him for that.

[00:16:08] That's what he got to do in this short career that he's got.

[00:16:10] But it is going to be a reality.

[00:16:13] Like he's going to be talking to people and he's going to be wanted by, I would imagine, a few clubs.

[00:16:18] How much you throw at him, I'm not really sure.

[00:16:20] He does a lot on the field, does a lot off the field.

[00:16:23] I definitely would be trying to keep him, that's for sure.

[00:16:26] I'm a huge fan.

[00:16:29] But having said that, if there's a situation, whether it's one of the two wingers leave

[00:16:35] or one of them gets an injury or whatever, this kid's good to go as we've seen.

[00:16:40] So that is a very big positive.

[00:16:43] I thought Toby Rudolph was great again, Josh.

[00:16:45] What's going on with him?

[00:16:46] He's found a few energy solutions to his career because he's going pretty good.

[00:16:52] Yeah, I mean his last month has been really, really good.

[00:16:55] And I've been incredibly critical of Toby this year.

[00:16:59] I think he's been pretty poor.

[00:17:01] But the last month, man, I don't know if that toe's, you know, sort itself out or if just that fitness level of playing consistently again is catching up with him in a good way.

[00:17:12] But man, he's been on a mission the last month.

[00:17:14] He's been really good.

[00:17:15] And, you know, I always put my hand up.

[00:17:17] If people play bad, I'll call them out.

[00:17:19] They play good.

[00:17:19] They deserve the raps.

[00:17:20] And he's been nothing short of exceptional.

[00:17:22] I mean, 140 meters or so, like over 100 meters again.

[00:17:26] He scored his one try for the year that he gets.

[00:17:30] And he was pumped too.

[00:17:31] His energy on the field looks better too in terms of like his personality and, you know, firing the boys up.

[00:17:36] He doesn't look gassed, you know, where he kind of stands at the back of the huddle and his hands on his knees and he's gone.

[00:17:41] Like his energy levels are good and he's one of those guys we need to lift us on the field because he's got that personality.

[00:17:48] I thought maybe it was something to do with playing less minutes, but he played for 52 minutes on the weekend, which is a phenomenal stint.

[00:17:54] Looking at the other times for the players, I mean, we saw Cam McInnes play 73 minutes, which is almost what we need.

[00:18:00] I need him at 80, but 73 is great.

[00:18:03] Yeah, he went off because of that cramp.

[00:18:04] Got the cramp.

[00:18:05] Fair enough.

[00:18:06] We saw Kofusi play half a game.

[00:18:09] Talakai played an hour.

[00:18:10] Jack Williams played an hour.

[00:18:12] Obviously, that was a monster effort.

[00:18:14] Royce was quiet and I say that respectfully.

[00:18:16] There wasn't much for him to do.

[00:18:17] He played 20 minutes for about 50 meters of five hit-ups.

[00:18:21] Beryl was solid.

[00:18:22] He played half an hour.

[00:18:24] Hazleton played half a game.

[00:18:26] Billy Burns played half an hour.

[00:18:27] So the bench looked a lot more, I guess, controlled and well-structured.

[00:18:33] I guess there wasn't a lot of hiccups in the game.

[00:18:35] We did have a sin bin later in the game, but that didn't really affect anything with Jesse Ramien.

[00:18:41] But, I mean, the bench, it's different to how it's going to be most weeks because you've got Beryl and Billy Burns there and they're not going to be there most weeks, respectfully.

[00:18:48] Yeah.

[00:18:48] I was surprised Beryl's defense was a lot tighter than it was against the Cowboys a few weeks ago.

[00:18:55] And Billy Burns, again, just hasn't let us down yet.

[00:18:58] Like, he hasn't really put a foot wrong.

[00:19:00] Like, he's not a world beater and I'm sure he would know that as much as anyone.

[00:19:04] But he just comes out and he just fills the role.

[00:19:07] Makes his tackles.

[00:19:08] A couple of runs here and there when it was needed.

[00:19:11] He might have been the one that shifted to center when Jesse went off.

[00:19:14] I can't remember.

[00:19:15] But just like that bench, then those minutes that you just read out are a lot more balanced than they have been previously.

[00:19:22] Like, you know, besides Royce getting 20 minutes, which is going to happen when you have a four forward bench.

[00:19:28] Really balanced and no one ever looked too tired.

[00:19:31] Like, if anyone ever looked like they were going, like when Jack Williams started just to fade a little bit, they took him off.

[00:19:36] Which has been a problem with Fitz, I've found over the time he's been here.

[00:19:42] Leaving guys on that five, ten minutes too long.

[00:19:44] But that wasn't the case.

[00:19:46] So, that's the kind of rotation we're going to need, you know, for the duration of the season.

[00:19:51] Just on Billy Burns, maybe it was a case of he came from Penrith, good system.

[00:19:57] No one really thought anything negative of him there.

[00:20:00] Went to the Dragons.

[00:20:01] Maybe he went there as some sort of like, you know, prize recruit or whatever.

[00:20:06] The expectation was higher.

[00:20:08] They were going through a really bad run.

[00:20:10] You know, different coaches, whatever.

[00:20:14] And I guess when you look at a player like that, you look at them different.

[00:20:18] You expect different things.

[00:20:20] And so, when he didn't set the world on fire or he made an error or whatever, you were like, oh, this guy's, you know, not great.

[00:20:26] Coming to Cronulla, I mean, he cut his contract short at the Dragons to come to Cronulla.

[00:20:31] He knew that he was behind this, you know, pretty good pack that would be hard to crack.

[00:20:36] He's been really good in cup for Newtown.

[00:20:40] And when he's had three or four chances this year, he's made the most of them.

[00:20:44] So, I don't doubt that Fitz will be ready to pick him if he's needed.

[00:20:49] And I think that's, it's not necessarily where his career should be at because maybe he should be playing every week.

[00:20:54] I don't know.

[00:20:55] Like he's, as we say, he's not letting us down.

[00:20:58] But I think it's a good place for him to be with our club.

[00:21:02] Just, you know, train hard, work hard.

[00:21:05] When your chances come, take them.

[00:21:07] And then you sort of become like Kurt Capewell where you become the next guy up.

[00:21:12] But then maybe in a year or two, I'm not sure of Billy's age, but in a year or two, maybe he's a regular on the bench due to whatever.

[00:21:20] His rise in form and our circumstances.

[00:21:23] So, I think he's playing his cards pretty nicely here.

[00:21:25] Yeah, and I think when he went to St. George, he was starting back row.

[00:21:29] Like he was there every week.

[00:21:31] And I think he faded off at the end there.

[00:21:34] But he was playing, you know, a fair few games for him at starting.

[00:21:38] So, I don't think he's that player.

[00:21:40] And I think he suits, again, like Fitz is really good at picking guys who will fit the system and fit the squad.

[00:21:48] And guys who are not coming here with inflated egos thinking they deserve to be in the first grade.

[00:21:53] So, he's there going, I'm probably going to play most of the year in cup.

[00:21:57] But when I get my chance, I'm not going to let anyone down.

[00:22:00] And to his credit, he hasn't let anyone down so far.

[00:22:04] I think some people, you know, sometimes get a little caught up in it.

[00:22:06] Why are we signing this guy?

[00:22:08] Like he's crap or whatever.

[00:22:09] It's like we're not signing these guys to play 25 first grade games a year.

[00:22:13] You can't have 30 NRL standard first graders.

[00:22:17] You've seen what happens when you have 19 first graders that they need to leave.

[00:22:21] Like with Connor Tracy.

[00:22:22] And maybe with like a Dan Atkinson in the future.

[00:22:25] Like you can't have all these guys that should be playing first grade forever.

[00:22:28] You might get a year or two lucky with them.

[00:22:30] So, you need to have these guys who are cup level who can rise to the occasion five times, six times a year.

[00:22:36] And I think that's exactly what Billy Burns is and credit to him.

[00:22:40] Yeah, for sure.

[00:22:41] And it'll be interesting to see his rise as, you know, finals football comes along.

[00:22:46] And you just, we're hoping we're going to be fit and firing.

[00:22:49] We just never know what the cards are going to be when you get there.

[00:22:54] Exactly.

[00:22:55] If he's there, I'm not worried.

[00:22:58] Again, I'm not suggesting he's going to win us a grand final.

[00:23:01] But from everything he's shown us, there's no criticism.

[00:23:05] There's no negatives.

[00:23:07] And that's, you know, without being cheeky, that's a positive.

[00:23:10] There are much worse players that are the backups for other clubs.

[00:23:15] I'll tell you that.

[00:23:16] Like, you could do a lot worse than Billy Burns.

[00:23:18] Again, I'm not trying to make him out more than he is.

[00:23:21] No.

[00:23:21] But I'm just saying, like, that's, you know, teams like the Tigers and the Knights, some of their backup players are not good.

[00:23:27] They're not first grade standard.

[00:23:28] And, you know, I'd rather have a Billy Burns than some of the guys running around in NRL at the moment.

[00:23:34] Well, I mean, look at the starters for the Knights and the Tigers.

[00:23:37] They're not very good either.

[00:23:38] So that shows where we're at as a club.

[00:23:41] It's like 50s building a nice little team here.

[00:23:43] And, you know, I'm a believer that one day in the next few years it's going to happen for us.

[00:23:48] But, I mean, we're sitting in fourth.

[00:23:50] We've been in fourth for a while now.

[00:23:52] We're not dropping.

[00:23:52] And we've just got to keep on going with the team that we have.

[00:23:55] And it's a good team.

[00:23:57] 44-0 to the Sharks.

[00:23:59] Great victory.

[00:24:00] We thought we'd win that one, Josh, but not by any means like that.

[00:24:04] We thought it might be more of a shootout.

[00:24:06] It wasn't.

[00:24:07] You know, full credit to the defense.

[00:24:09] We're talking about the attack and the points.

[00:24:11] The defense to keep a team to nil is great.

[00:24:13] We've kept three out of the four last games have been six points or less.

[00:24:17] So, come on.

[00:24:19] That's huge, dude.

[00:24:21] In every sort of KPI, that's huge.

[00:24:24] It's huge for the foreign against.

[00:24:25] It's huge for the respect.

[00:24:26] It's huge for the pattern to keep going this week against the Knights.

[00:24:29] That's the thing that they're focusing on.

[00:24:31] They don't care about the 44 points.

[00:24:33] No.

[00:24:33] And I thought a major shout-out to Eero and Stone Street in particular,

[00:24:37] the way they defended their edge.

[00:24:39] Because they had Keanu Kearney coming at them multiple times.

[00:24:41] I mean, the Titans did throw a lot at us.

[00:24:43] I mean, I know the stats don't read well, but watching the game live,

[00:24:46] like, they were threatening.

[00:24:47] And there was a lot of scramble defense, a lot of good reads.

[00:24:52] And the way that Eero defended some of those shapes that they threw at

[00:24:55] was, like, superb.

[00:24:56] Like, the way he gave space, slid out, Stone Street stayed on his wing.

[00:25:01] And if Eero ever fell off one, Stone Street came in and finished it off.

[00:25:04] Like, it was really superb, like, defensive structure.

[00:25:07] And that's the bonus of having two younger guys out there.

[00:25:10] They're younger, they're fitter, they're faster.

[00:25:12] And, yeah, they're going to make mistakes.

[00:25:14] But the way they shut them down, I think,

[00:25:17] was because of their youth and because of their, you know, energy and speed.

[00:25:21] Like, that was the crux of it.

[00:25:24] And I'm not saying Talakai couldn't do that when he was a center,

[00:25:27] but obviously Eero's twice as fast.

[00:25:30] So, huge, huge positive there for the Sharks.

[00:25:35] NRLW, Joshi.

[00:25:37] Sharky's undefeated top of the table.

[00:25:39] They won 24 points to 12 in Canberra.

[00:25:43] Excuse me.

[00:25:44] And another gritty, full-of-heart performance by the NRLW team.

[00:25:49] A team that's been ravaged with injuries over the past two years.

[00:25:53] We know we've lost Taylor for the year.

[00:25:56] They're missing Tonagato.

[00:25:58] They're signing people midweek to jump in and play.

[00:26:02] And it was great, man.

[00:26:04] Like, down 12-0.

[00:26:05] Came back to win by 12 points.

[00:26:08] We didn't really see that one coming during the game.

[00:26:11] Especially first half, not a great performance.

[00:26:13] A lot of drop ball.

[00:26:14] Defensively, okay.

[00:26:15] But the tries weren't, you know, embarrassing or anything that we conceded.

[00:26:19] But to come back, I mean, that shows really great leadership

[00:26:23] from the coaching staff, from the leaders out there on the field,

[00:26:26] the more experienced players.

[00:26:27] And the younger women are just, yeah, just playing out of their skin.

[00:26:30] Yeah, the first half was really poor.

[00:26:32] I was really disappointed with just the lack of the execution

[00:26:36] and some of the ball handling was really sloppy.

[00:26:39] And I was like, oh, this is going to get ugly.

[00:26:41] But, I mean, they really turned it around that second half.

[00:26:44] And some of, like, the standouts, like, Penitani, man.

[00:26:48] Like, she is, like, too good.

[00:26:51] Like, for that level, she was the best player on the field by a country mile.

[00:26:54] Like, every time she touches the ball, she's either getting through a tackle

[00:26:58] or she's, like, half breaks or, like, post-contact meters.

[00:27:01] Like, she is ridiculous.

[00:27:02] So, she's our captain.

[00:27:04] She's played rep footy.

[00:27:05] She has played in a number of different positions in the back line.

[00:27:10] Usually, I think, in that game or the game before she was named –

[00:27:14] oh, sorry, last week she was named at fullback, didn't play at fullback.

[00:27:16] Ran for 200 meters, scored a try, and her hit-ups are just –

[00:27:21] for someone who is not the biggest human in the world,

[00:27:24] her hit-ups are really strong down those edges.

[00:27:28] She doesn't shirk the responsibility from getting us out of her own yard.

[00:27:32] And as one of the more, well, mature leaders of the team,

[00:27:37] it's hard not to be inspired by her to –

[00:27:40] that, you know, floats throughout the team.

[00:27:42] And we saw, you know, Ravix ran for 105 meters.

[00:27:47] Biddle, who's a beast, ran for almost 200 meters.

[00:27:49] The whole – actually, yeah, the back five ran for at least 100,

[00:27:52] averaging close to 150 meters.

[00:27:54] So –

[00:27:55] Holly Wheeler was absolutely outstanding.

[00:27:58] Yep.

[00:27:58] I'll tell you who is the pick of the bunch out there,

[00:28:01] and I knew it but didn't really –

[00:28:04] I wouldn't have sort of spoken about it,

[00:28:06] but that's Brooke Anderson at lock.

[00:28:08] She is just –

[00:28:09] She was great.

[00:28:10] Phenomenal.

[00:28:10] She does that week in, week out.

[00:28:12] I'm only just sort of catching up on that fact that she's that good.

[00:28:16] But 27 tackles, 115 meters, 12 runs,

[00:28:21] just absolutely rock steady,

[00:28:23] and that's what you want in that position.

[00:28:26] Obviously, the props are great.

[00:28:27] Johnston and Wheeler.

[00:28:29] 37 out of 37 tackles, man, for Ellie.

[00:28:32] Yeah.

[00:28:32] Doesn't miss.

[00:28:32] And Quincy Dodd at Hooker is –

[00:28:34] I'm not going to say she's underrated because, yeah,

[00:28:37] she's a superstar,

[00:28:37] but I think she's underrated in the scheme of maybe when they talk about –

[00:28:42] I don't know.

[00:28:42] When they talk about the best players in the NRLW,

[00:28:44] she's just so solid and skillful and tough.

[00:28:49] 113 meters out of dummy half.

[00:28:51] Like, what?

[00:28:52] We got a really good team,

[00:28:53] and that's –

[00:28:54] Yeah.

[00:28:54] That was without Tonegato.

[00:28:55] That was without Taylor.

[00:28:58] Tonegato's been named on the extended bench this week,

[00:29:00] and hopefully she plays.

[00:29:01] Hopefully she plays, yeah.

[00:29:01] I think she might.

[00:29:02] So there's still some good depth there,

[00:29:04] even though they have lost at least one player for the year.

[00:29:07] We play the Knights this week at Shark Park.

[00:29:09] It's the game before NRLW.

[00:29:11] If you're coming down to the game,

[00:29:13] definitely come down and watch that because it's going to be awesome.

[00:29:15] They're all big games, Josh, aren't they?

[00:29:17] I'm not even being smart.

[00:29:18] Like, you –

[00:29:19] No, you don't get a chance.

[00:29:20] If you lose a game, it might cost you at some point.

[00:29:23] NRL itself, it's like,

[00:29:25] oh, we lost a game, whatever.

[00:29:26] But NRLW, there's nine games,

[00:29:28] so you do need to make the most of it.

[00:29:31] But yeah, congratulations to the coaching staff

[00:29:34] and the NRLW team.

[00:29:35] They're just killing it.

[00:29:36] What's your preference, Josh?

[00:29:37] Do you like –

[00:29:39] As a consumer fan,

[00:29:40] do you like them playing on the same day as the NRLW team,

[00:29:43] or do you like it split up?

[00:29:44] I like them playing before the men's

[00:29:47] because they will get a bigger crowd.

[00:29:50] But as a personal preference,

[00:29:52] I like to split two days because they get double the Sharks.

[00:29:54] Yeah, me too.

[00:29:55] You know, over one weekend.

[00:29:56] But if they're back-to-back as well,

[00:29:58] I'm like, oh, Sharks, you know,

[00:29:59] if they're playing before an NRL game,

[00:30:02] I like that because the crowd and the atmosphere tends to be better.

[00:30:05] But just personal preference, yeah,

[00:30:07] getting two over the weekend is –

[00:30:10] I'm selfish.

[00:30:11] It's fun.

[00:30:12] It's real fun.

[00:30:12] I mean, this weekend is perfect, okay?

[00:30:14] So it's like maybe we'll just say when they play at home,

[00:30:17] let's have them play before the men's.

[00:30:19] And we know that's not the case,

[00:30:19] but we're just saying in the make-believe world,

[00:30:21] that would be perfect.

[00:30:23] And when they're away,

[00:30:24] split it over two days so we can get two days of Sharks.

[00:30:26] But it's a great feeling as, you know,

[00:30:28] we're both Sharks fanatics obviously,

[00:30:30] and it's a good feeling where,

[00:30:32] especially on a Friday night,

[00:30:33] woo-hoo, 44-0,

[00:30:34] and then next morning it's like, oh,

[00:30:36] we're playing in camera.

[00:30:38] And they win against us as well.

[00:30:40] So it's a good place to be if you're a Sharks fan right now.

[00:30:44] Hopefully they can keep it going.

[00:30:45] I mean, Newcastle are great.

[00:30:47] I mean, their fullback is unbelievable.

[00:30:49] She's a freak.

[00:30:50] I've got a good feeling about the game this week

[00:30:52] and just the vibe that's going to be down there.

[00:30:55] Jersey Flag is on before,

[00:30:57] and we encourage you to go watch that as well.

[00:30:59] But I think at the very least,

[00:31:00] the fact that there will be people there for Flag,

[00:31:03] and it's in between the two games,

[00:31:06] this game,

[00:31:06] I think there will be a decent crowd there.

[00:31:08] We saw last year against Canberra,

[00:31:10] they had a,

[00:31:10] I think it was close to full at that point.

[00:31:12] If not, it was probably what,

[00:31:13] three quarters full for the Canberra?

[00:31:15] Yeah, it was a good crowd.

[00:31:16] So is it,

[00:31:17] it's the women's then Flag?

[00:31:19] No, no, no, no.

[00:31:20] Flag first.

[00:31:20] Flag then.

[00:31:21] As it should be.

[00:31:21] Yeah.

[00:31:23] So that'll be great.

[00:31:24] Like in that,

[00:31:24] that probably that second half for the women's game,

[00:31:27] this should be a really good number,

[00:31:28] especially if it's a nice day,

[00:31:29] Sunday,

[00:31:30] three grades,

[00:31:30] both teams are going well.

[00:31:32] Like I expect and would hope that the,

[00:31:35] the crowds will turn out for it because like,

[00:31:37] what more do you want?

[00:31:38] Like two top four teams at the moment.

[00:31:40] Come on,

[00:31:40] like let's get out there and support.

[00:31:42] Sunday afternoon.

[00:31:43] It's not sort of clashing with too many people's work life.

[00:31:46] I'm not saying everyone,

[00:31:47] but most people.

[00:31:48] And,

[00:31:49] and there's,

[00:31:50] you know,

[00:31:51] there's a couple of places you can go to pregame,

[00:31:52] but whatever,

[00:31:53] just go to the ground and,

[00:31:55] and,

[00:31:55] and yeah,

[00:31:55] check out the NRW because there's some outstanding talent out there.

[00:31:58] Do you have any personal playing favorites in the team?

[00:32:01] Joshy,

[00:32:01] anyone's like that you love to watch?

[00:32:03] Uh,

[00:32:03] but Panatani.

[00:32:04] Yep.

[00:32:05] Like I,

[00:32:05] every time she touches the ball,

[00:32:06] like I'm on the edge of my seat.

[00:32:08] Yeah.

[00:32:08] I just genuinely think she's like a step above like 80% of the,

[00:32:11] the entire league.

[00:32:13] Like she's that good.

[00:32:14] Yes.

[00:32:14] Yes.

[00:32:15] I agree.

[00:32:15] Um,

[00:32:15] I got a few faves.

[00:32:16] I do love,

[00:32:17] uh,

[00:32:17] the back row are homes.

[00:32:18] I think she's,

[00:32:19] uh,

[00:32:19] incredible.

[00:32:20] And I hope that,

[00:32:23] yeah,

[00:32:23] she has a great year.

[00:32:24] She's great to watch.

[00:32:25] Uh,

[00:32:25] but yeah,

[00:32:25] number of,

[00:32:26] yeah,

[00:32:27] I love her.

[00:32:29] Yeah.

[00:32:30] And that's a bit of complete badass.

[00:32:33] She's fiery,

[00:32:34] isn't she?

[00:32:34] She's like,

[00:32:34] she gets into it.

[00:32:35] Like she's,

[00:32:36] she reminds me of like a,

[00:32:37] like a BJ Lallure in his prime,

[00:32:40] just like knows she's better than her opposition or like believes it.

[00:32:43] And just like,

[00:32:44] I prefer like a Jesse Ramian kind of confidence personally.

[00:32:47] I know what you're saying.

[00:32:49] I wouldn't have said to be perfect.

[00:32:51] You've thrown me a little bit.

[00:32:52] He was just when he was like,

[00:32:53] when he was good,

[00:32:55] like in that 2016,

[00:32:56] like he was just like,

[00:32:57] I'm going to smash you.

[00:32:58] I get that from her.

[00:32:59] Yeah.

[00:32:59] Very physical player.

[00:33:01] But yeah,

[00:33:01] anyway,

[00:33:01] that's NRL W for last week.

[00:33:04] This week,

[00:33:04] you can watch them at Shark Park against the Knights.

[00:33:07] Should be a cracking game.

[00:33:09] And if you cannot get to the ground,

[00:33:11] it'll be on the KO,

[00:33:12] the Fox sports.

[00:33:12] I imagine maybe a channel nine as well.

[00:33:14] Some,

[00:33:14] some sort of digital thing happening.

[00:33:16] So that's the week that was last week,

[00:33:19] Joshy.

[00:33:19] Uh,

[00:33:20] let me tell you quickly about Dyson logistics.

[00:33:22] They are our awesome friends.

[00:33:23] They're based on the central coast,

[00:33:25] but from the Shire originally,

[00:33:27] they deliver things globally in a great timely manner.

[00:33:31] Great quality,

[00:33:33] uh,

[00:33:34] fair prices.

[00:33:35] Uh,

[00:33:35] please give them a touch.

[00:33:36] Uh,

[00:33:37] give them a touch,

[00:33:37] give them a call,

[00:33:38] give them a touch.

[00:33:38] I've touched Kane at Dyson logistics many times.

[00:33:41] Give them a call.

[00:33:42] Oh,

[00:33:42] two,

[00:33:43] eight double three,

[00:33:43] nine one,

[00:33:44] eight double four.

[00:33:45] Dyson logistics.com.

[00:33:47] Great service delivered every time.

[00:33:49] That's our friends at Dyson.

[00:33:51] And Joshy,

[00:33:52] we've got a little bit of news floating around,

[00:33:54] uh,

[00:33:54] which we'll get to.

[00:33:56] We mentioned Jersey flag.

[00:33:58] They are playing this week at shark park.

[00:34:02] So they beat Melbourne last week,

[00:34:05] 54 to 16,

[00:34:07] and they keep moving closer to the finals.

[00:34:09] The year started out a bit sketchy,

[00:34:11] but they've come good in the last month or so.

[00:34:15] Kickoff for that game is at 1130 on Sunday.

[00:34:18] So full day of entertainment for you.

[00:34:20] If you want,

[00:34:20] if you want to head out there,

[00:34:21] I would suggest you take note of the halfback,

[00:34:26] Riley Pollard.

[00:34:26] We've spoken about him on the show before.

[00:34:28] He will,

[00:34:29] if the way he trends,

[00:34:30] his career trends,

[00:34:31] he's going to be a first grader at some point and a really good one.

[00:34:33] Terrific young player.

[00:34:34] And also Dylan Coutts,

[00:34:37] who's the second rower.

[00:34:38] He trains with the NRL team.

[00:34:40] He's also a future first grader.

[00:34:43] And I will also note fan favorite Felix Fertili.

[00:34:48] You can't miss him.

[00:34:50] He's probably the tallest player in the club.

[00:34:54] NRL included.

[00:34:55] I think he's bigger than tall.

[00:34:56] Tom Haston.

[00:34:57] I think.

[00:34:58] Tewks.

[00:34:59] I think.

[00:34:59] Wait till you see this guy,

[00:35:00] Felix.

[00:35:01] He's,

[00:35:02] he's right amongst it.

[00:35:03] He's 19.

[00:35:05] His body shape is slightly different coming from me.

[00:35:08] I'm being respectful.

[00:35:10] It,

[00:35:10] it's,

[00:35:11] it's something to work on.

[00:35:12] Don't get me wrong.

[00:35:13] He's an athlete.

[00:35:14] He's more of a Hazleton figure than a,

[00:35:16] than a Tuku figure.

[00:35:17] But even then he needs a little bit of work to be done.

[00:35:20] But man mountain at a boy's age,

[00:35:23] fun to watch and hopefully a big future for him.

[00:35:26] So check out the flag team early on Sunday,

[00:35:30] which will be great.

[00:35:31] The Newtown shark jets,

[00:35:33] one again in the Frank Hyde,

[00:35:37] uh,

[00:35:37] moral cup.

[00:35:38] What did they do?

[00:35:39] They beat the bears.

[00:35:40] Of course.

[00:35:41] What am I saying?

[00:35:42] They beat the bears.

[00:35:43] I don't know where they're playing this week,

[00:35:46] but they're also headed towards the finals.

[00:35:48] If they keep going along the way that they are.

[00:35:52] So check out that team.

[00:35:54] Obviously guys like Peru and other sort of fringe first graders are there to check

[00:35:57] out.

[00:35:58] But moving on from that Joshy,

[00:36:00] here it is.

[00:36:01] Breaking news from the sharks.

[00:36:03] And it's related to this week's game.

[00:36:06] An event.

[00:36:07] And the title of this news piece is called be the DJ.

[00:36:11] B E T H E.

[00:36:13] DJ exclamation mark.

[00:36:15] It's members round.

[00:36:16] So all of our members and a lot of our listeners are members,

[00:36:19] which is awesome.

[00:36:19] If you're not looking to it,

[00:36:21] members around means whole bunch of different things.

[00:36:23] Some of you get to go watch the team warm up.

[00:36:25] Some of you get to high five them as they run out.

[00:36:28] A bunch of different things like that,

[00:36:29] which have been emailed to you.

[00:36:30] And you can sort of go into drawers to be drawn out of luck of the draw kind of

[00:36:34] thing.

[00:36:35] But now from what I can tell,

[00:36:37] you can pick the song to be played at halftime and it's not a sweet Caroline,

[00:36:41] which I personally am a fan of.

[00:36:43] Unfortunately for you,

[00:36:44] Josh,

[00:36:45] you can't pick Megadeth or mortal sin or,

[00:36:50] or any of those heavy metal devil bands that you like.

[00:36:54] But what I can see is you can pick from the following local musician,

[00:37:01] Shannon Knowles.

[00:37:02] What about me?

[00:37:02] And something called Hey Baby by DJ Otzi,

[00:37:06] which I'm not familiar with.

[00:37:07] So you can vote for one of those two things.

[00:37:10] And I guess the winner of those two songs gets played at halftime.

[00:37:15] I don't know.

[00:37:17] I think maybe we're all picking this.

[00:37:19] Is this what I'm,

[00:37:19] yeah,

[00:37:20] we're all going to pick this,

[00:37:21] but if you enter the drawer,

[00:37:22] you can also win a night at the quest apartment just down the road.

[00:37:25] So I like it.

[00:37:27] I'd probably give you more than two choices,

[00:37:29] but that's just me,

[00:37:29] but I like it.

[00:37:30] Well done.

[00:37:30] Well done.

[00:37:31] The sharks,

[00:37:31] our friends,

[00:37:32] I like Sweet Caroline,

[00:37:34] but I've always loved that song.

[00:37:35] So I'm not one of those people that,

[00:37:37] you know,

[00:37:37] I also understand the significance of playing at sporting events and,

[00:37:41] but anyway,

[00:37:42] something different.

[00:37:43] That's not the worst thing in the world,

[00:37:44] Josh.

[00:37:45] Do you have any,

[00:37:45] any other news for us,

[00:37:46] Josh?

[00:37:47] Any news on Jack Williams signing?

[00:37:48] I wish we could sign him today.

[00:37:50] It'd be nice.

[00:37:51] Um,

[00:37:51] what about the elephant in the room?

[00:37:53] What is it?

[00:37:53] Valentine home.

[00:37:54] Ah,

[00:37:54] that elephant.

[00:37:55] Good on him.

[00:37:56] Yeah.

[00:37:56] I thought it was actually not happening.

[00:37:59] That's what the latest I heard was yesterday.

[00:38:00] It wasn't happening for whatever reason.

[00:38:02] That was what was out there.

[00:38:03] But yeah,

[00:38:04] I was pretty disappointed when I heard this morning.

[00:38:06] I might've let out a little bit of a curse word in the car when I heard the news,

[00:38:09] just because I know what it means.

[00:38:11] Interesting mind,

[00:38:12] isn't it?

[00:38:12] Coming back to the area and on a three deal,

[00:38:16] big money.

[00:38:17] I'm going to get away.

[00:38:18] Yeah.

[00:38:18] Left,

[00:38:18] he wanted to get away and he had to come back.

[00:38:20] Don't know how to feel except pretty annoyed,

[00:38:22] especially with the derby up next week.

[00:38:24] Um,

[00:38:24] my mate Brooks,

[00:38:24] he's already been to me about it with a few puns such as,

[00:38:28] you know,

[00:38:28] coming homes,

[00:38:29] et cetera.

[00:38:30] Yeah.

[00:38:31] Pretty annoyed.

[00:38:31] What do you reckon?

[00:38:32] I like it in the fact that it,

[00:38:34] it makes St.

[00:38:35] George worse.

[00:38:35] Now hear me out.

[00:38:36] Sure.

[00:38:38] $850,000 for a guy that's 29 that has,

[00:38:41] is regressing,

[00:38:43] um,

[00:38:44] and regressing at an alarming rate.

[00:38:46] In my opinion,

[00:38:47] he's was pretty bad in the origin series.

[00:38:49] He's been pretty ordinary all year.

[00:38:51] His defense is getting worse.

[00:38:53] It may be if they play him on the wing,

[00:38:55] but then you're paying $850,000 for a winger.

[00:38:58] I,

[00:38:59] I hate it.

[00:39:00] I mean,

[00:39:00] I love it,

[00:39:01] but I hate it.

[00:39:01] It's like,

[00:39:02] if I was a St.

[00:39:02] George fan,

[00:39:03] like that's,

[00:39:05] I know they needed to get someone and I know that they lost Lomax and they

[00:39:08] probably needed a big name,

[00:39:09] but it's,

[00:39:10] it's an ordinary sign.

[00:39:11] He's going to be paying this guy $850,000 when he's 32.

[00:39:15] I mean,

[00:39:15] good luck.

[00:39:16] I mean,

[00:39:17] I think Flano knew he needed to do something to replace Lomax.

[00:39:20] Yeah.

[00:39:20] And yeah,

[00:39:22] I,

[00:39:22] I still personally think that he has something to offer.

[00:39:25] I,

[00:39:25] I understand it's a lot of money and it's a longer deal and you might want to

[00:39:29] offer him.

[00:39:29] It's interesting that the dragons didn't hesitate,

[00:39:31] you know,

[00:39:32] like,

[00:39:32] I mean,

[00:39:33] Flano for all of his faults,

[00:39:35] he's got a plan and they're playing a lot better this year.

[00:39:37] I think it's a three or four year kind of rebuild.

[00:39:40] I think in three or four years,

[00:39:42] they'll probably be a pretty good team.

[00:39:44] Yeah.

[00:39:44] I mean,

[00:39:44] Val won't be there at that point,

[00:39:46] which is interesting,

[00:39:46] but I mean,

[00:39:47] I would play him at,

[00:39:51] who's their fullback now?

[00:39:53] Sloan.

[00:39:54] He's okay.

[00:39:56] I just don't think Val's body's got fullback in it anymore.

[00:39:59] Yeah.

[00:39:59] I mean,

[00:40:00] maybe he could just plop him on the wing.

[00:40:01] I don't know.

[00:40:02] But yeah,

[00:40:02] it's a lot of money.

[00:40:03] It's a lot of money.

[00:40:04] Unless it could Sloan play five,

[00:40:06] eight.

[00:40:06] Oh no,

[00:40:07] they got Flanagan in LA.

[00:40:08] That's not going to change.

[00:40:09] Yeah.

[00:40:10] I don't know,

[00:40:10] man.

[00:40:10] It's,

[00:40:11] it's the only thing I was thinking of is could I now boo him?

[00:40:14] Cause he's wearing a St.

[00:40:14] George Jersey.

[00:40:15] That was my,

[00:40:16] you have to,

[00:40:17] you have to,

[00:40:18] I haven't got an answer yet,

[00:40:20] but I'm at least asking the question,

[00:40:21] is it okay for me to now boo him?

[00:40:24] You know,

[00:40:24] I know other people boo him.

[00:40:25] That's their business,

[00:40:26] but I've never done that,

[00:40:28] but I don't know if I could do it still.

[00:40:30] Like I just,

[00:40:30] I just have such fond memories of the young man.

[00:40:33] I would never boo him,

[00:40:34] but I,

[00:40:35] I,

[00:40:36] you know,

[00:40:36] there's a,

[00:40:37] there's an evil little part in me that has enjoyed his townfall slightly,

[00:40:42] but.

[00:40:42] Yeah.

[00:40:43] See,

[00:40:43] I don't,

[00:40:43] I don't get that.

[00:40:44] I'm not knocking you,

[00:40:45] but I don't,

[00:40:45] I don't relate to that.

[00:40:47] But I,

[00:40:47] you know,

[00:40:48] if we're playing a local derby or if he drops the ball,

[00:40:51] in a,

[00:40:52] in a dragon's Jersey,

[00:40:53] I'm going to care way less than,

[00:40:54] I mean,

[00:40:55] I don't care if he drops it in a cowboy's Jersey,

[00:40:57] but I'm going to care way less now.

[00:40:58] Like it's,

[00:40:59] I really don't like that Jersey.

[00:41:01] So yeah,

[00:41:02] it's not good,

[00:41:03] man.

[00:41:03] It's one of those things that you kind of hoped would never happen.

[00:41:06] And even when it was floated about,

[00:41:08] you know,

[00:41:08] a month ago,

[00:41:09] I was like,

[00:41:09] Oh,

[00:41:09] hopefully it doesn't happen.

[00:41:10] And then,

[00:41:11] then,

[00:41:11] yeah,

[00:41:11] I think yesterday it was like,

[00:41:12] nah,

[00:41:12] it's not happening.

[00:41:13] And today it was like,

[00:41:14] it's happening.

[00:41:14] So I don't know what's changed there,

[00:41:16] but I've already got a few sort of inbox,

[00:41:18] ha ha messages.

[00:41:19] And yeah,

[00:41:20] as I said,

[00:41:20] Brooks,

[00:41:20] he's hammering me.

[00:41:21] So I thought the fans might want to know.

[00:41:24] Yeah.

[00:41:24] How you,

[00:41:25] so I hope you're okay.

[00:41:27] You know,

[00:41:27] I'm okay.

[00:41:28] Nothing's going to change what he did for us.

[00:41:30] So I,

[00:41:31] I guess that's my kind of,

[00:41:33] my motto to everyone.

[00:41:34] It's like,

[00:41:36] just don't forget everything he did in that window that he did it,

[00:41:40] you know,

[00:41:40] and,

[00:41:41] and don't forget the ride and how exciting it was.

[00:41:44] And even I'm talking post GF,

[00:41:46] like 2018,

[00:41:47] he was lights out at fullback.

[00:41:49] So generational,

[00:41:50] like I,

[00:41:51] that's what,

[00:41:51] I think that's what hurts the most is that he was so good.

[00:41:53] Yeah.

[00:41:54] And we took him when the Cowboys didn't want him and we made him what he

[00:41:57] was.

[00:41:58] And he just like selfishly ruined his career a little bit,

[00:42:02] in my opinion,

[00:42:02] that he went and that year off,

[00:42:04] like he was generational,

[00:42:06] in my opinion,

[00:42:07] like that year at fullback in 2018,

[00:42:08] he was off the charts.

[00:42:10] I guess it's,

[00:42:11] it's that thing where we can't be in his shoes.

[00:42:13] And,

[00:42:14] you know,

[00:42:14] he's,

[00:42:15] he's,

[00:42:15] he's like,

[00:42:16] you know,

[00:42:16] household name in the Shire getting paid great money,

[00:42:19] huge.

[00:42:20] Sorry for the pun future ahead of him.

[00:42:22] And then,

[00:42:22] you know,

[00:42:23] in his personal life,

[00:42:24] we know that he's from up there.

[00:42:26] He married a girl from up there.

[00:42:28] They're looking at the calendar going,

[00:42:29] well,

[00:42:30] we could spend the rest of our career here,

[00:42:32] which would be what?

[00:42:33] Another 10 years at the time.

[00:42:36] Or there's a club up there would pay us as good,

[00:42:40] if not more money with family and friends.

[00:42:42] And we could live our life there.

[00:42:44] Yeah.

[00:42:44] Like I,

[00:42:45] I understand that,

[00:42:47] but.

[00:42:47] With an NFL stick in between.

[00:42:48] Yeah.

[00:42:49] I don't understand that,

[00:42:51] but he was my guy.

[00:42:53] And I,

[00:42:54] I maintain like watching him as a kid.

[00:42:57] And then as a young man,

[00:42:59] cause I followed his career for a long,

[00:43:01] long time.

[00:43:02] I hadn't seen anyone really like that in my time.

[00:43:05] I'm not saying it hasn't happened before.

[00:43:06] Of course it has.

[00:43:07] But in my time,

[00:43:08] when you watch those guys at that age,

[00:43:10] there was something about him and then he lived up to it.

[00:43:13] And it was amazing fun.

[00:43:15] So that's how I'm doing.

[00:43:16] Thanks for bringing it up,

[00:43:17] Josh.

[00:43:19] Appreciate it.

[00:43:20] On that note,

[00:43:21] I feel like I need a drink.

[00:43:23] And the only place that I really want to have a drink at is the Royal Motor Yacht Club

[00:43:26] in Port Hacking.

[00:43:28] And I also like to eat there,

[00:43:29] Josh,

[00:43:29] as you do.

[00:43:30] And there's a great little restaurant there called The Galley.

[00:43:33] So get down there and tell them we sent you.

[00:43:36] And it's a great place to watch footy,

[00:43:38] which we've done as well.

[00:43:39] Great setup.

[00:43:41] Speakers.

[00:43:41] They've got the bar at the back.

[00:43:44] Bar upstairs.

[00:43:45] Get in touch with them.

[00:43:46] 9523 9300.

[00:43:48] They're also at rmycph.com.au.

[00:43:53] And they have a membership app as well.

[00:43:54] So they've got you covered for all of your club needs.

[00:43:58] The Royal Motor Yacht Club in Port Hacking.

[00:44:02] Joshie,

[00:44:02] let's get some mail.

[00:44:03] And I've got to tell you and the listeners haven't read the mail.

[00:44:06] So we're going to fly by the seat of our pants,

[00:44:11] which is not the worst place to be.

[00:44:14] Now,

[00:44:14] Brendan was in touch.

[00:44:16] He said,

[00:44:17] I got to the game against the Tigers.

[00:44:18] Brendan traveled from,

[00:44:19] I think Queensland or somewhere up there.

[00:44:21] He hadn't been there since 1978.

[00:44:25] He said he was disappointed with the seating in the Pete Burns lower stand.

[00:44:29] He was in the second row off the fence.

[00:44:32] And the advertising signs meant he couldn't see any grass on the field.

[00:44:36] And everyone in the front row had to stand up.

[00:44:38] Disappointing,

[00:44:39] but happy to be there.

[00:44:40] He somehow got into training,

[00:44:42] which is a big no-no for fans.

[00:44:44] Fans are not allowed in training,

[00:44:45] but Brendan might've dropped a few names and he got in.

[00:44:48] So that's awesome.

[00:44:49] Up,

[00:44:49] up,

[00:44:49] love the pod.

[00:44:50] Thanks,

[00:44:50] Brendan.

[00:44:51] Sorry that your seating experience wasn't great.

[00:44:53] I can't really answer that because I don't really know what's going on with that.

[00:44:56] We do hear that from time to time about the,

[00:44:58] the lower level seating.

[00:45:00] I would have thought that,

[00:45:01] uh,

[00:45:02] that would not be a problem given that you're paying money to sit there,

[00:45:05] but maybe take that up with the club.

[00:45:08] We have John.

[00:45:10] John says,

[00:45:10] what a win.

[00:45:11] Simplified our game.

[00:45:13] Reap the rewards.

[00:45:14] Not a bad player.

[00:45:15] Kyle Iroh,

[00:45:15] outstanding.

[00:45:17] Braley,

[00:45:17] Williams,

[00:45:18] Nicker are also very good.

[00:45:20] Enjoy your weekend,

[00:45:21] shark fans.

[00:45:22] That's from John.

[00:45:23] Great stuff.

[00:45:24] Peter says,

[00:45:26] winners are grinners.

[00:45:27] Great win by the lads.

[00:45:28] A couple of weeks ago,

[00:45:29] I said,

[00:45:29] Toby was like a budgie flying into a window.

[00:45:32] I remember that.

[00:45:33] This week,

[00:45:34] he was like a mutant eagle shark with booster rockets.

[00:45:38] What a win.

[00:45:39] What a podcast.

[00:45:41] Love you work up,

[00:45:42] up from sharky Pete.

[00:45:43] So we're flying high on the back of Toby Rudolph.

[00:45:45] How good's that?

[00:45:46] Thank you,

[00:45:47] Peter,

[00:45:47] for your support and for your kind words and for your descriptive words of

[00:45:51] Toby.

[00:45:53] James has been in touch and he said,

[00:45:55] clearly our problem is our starting halves.

[00:45:57] We should drop them for the rest of the season.

[00:45:59] He then says,

[00:46:00] obviously joking.

[00:46:01] Great win.

[00:46:02] That's James or Jimmy from Ireland.

[00:46:05] Might've had a few,

[00:46:06] uh,

[00:46:06] Guinnesses when he wrote that one.

[00:46:07] Steven says,

[00:46:09] I'm normally emailing you when things have gone bad,

[00:46:13] but not this time.

[00:46:15] I thought the Titans game was exactly what the club and supporter base needed.

[00:46:19] With so many top line players out,

[00:46:21] we showed plenty of attack.

[00:46:22] Our defense was unreal.

[00:46:24] I thought the whole team went well with Jack Williams,

[00:46:26] Ero,

[00:46:27] Stone Street,

[00:46:27] Knacketson,

[00:46:28] our best.

[00:46:29] Hopefully we keep this form up and go on a run into the finals.

[00:46:31] That's from Steven.

[00:46:33] Good stuff.

[00:46:33] Thanks for the positivity,

[00:46:34] my friend.

[00:46:36] Neil says,

[00:46:38] thanks for the post game review.

[00:46:39] Great win considering the penalties and six agains were stacked against us.

[00:46:43] Uh,

[00:46:44] wondering our best two performances this year was being the storm in Melbourne and this

[00:46:48] win over the Titans.

[00:46:49] Both game.

[00:46:50] We're outsiders and without our first choice hubs.

[00:46:53] Atkinson reminds me of wish out from the storm underrated,

[00:46:56] but very effective.

[00:46:57] The dilemma we have is we have Nico and Trindle coming back from injury.

[00:47:03] Two into three doesn't fit.

[00:47:05] Good problem to have.

[00:47:07] What do you guys think?

[00:47:08] Does Atkinson drop out or does he stay in the halves?

[00:47:12] I was impressed with Stone Street.

[00:47:14] Next man up for philosophy is working.

[00:47:17] I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

[00:47:18] Thanks for being there for us.

[00:47:20] Your podcast,

[00:47:21] a second to none.

[00:47:21] Well,

[00:47:22] thank you,

[00:47:22] Neil.

[00:47:22] That's super kind,

[00:47:23] super,

[00:47:23] super,

[00:47:24] super kind.

[00:47:24] We discussed Atkinson in the first seg.

[00:47:27] So go back and listen to that.

[00:47:28] If for some reason you haven't,

[00:47:30] but yes,

[00:47:32] Neil says,

[00:47:33] Josh,

[00:47:33] that our two best performances when we were under the gun outsiders and also the

[00:47:39] half situation.

[00:47:40] So take the half situation out of it.

[00:47:42] I want to talk to you,

[00:47:42] Josh Bolling about us being,

[00:47:44] uh,

[00:47:45] angry little kids being told they can't do something because when we get our backs

[00:47:50] up,

[00:47:50] we actually play phenomenally.

[00:47:53] Like,

[00:47:53] how do we bring that into each week's playbook?

[00:47:57] It's an interesting one.

[00:47:58] It's all,

[00:47:58] it's very psychological,

[00:48:00] isn't it?

[00:48:00] In terms of what do you need to get up for a game or to play your best?

[00:48:04] Do you need to be told you're not good enough and to,

[00:48:07] you know,

[00:48:09] have the media and the fans against you?

[00:48:11] Or like,

[00:48:12] should you be able to just perform as a professional regardless?

[00:48:15] I don't know.

[00:48:16] I mean,

[00:48:17] there is something innate in human beings that when you get told you can't do

[00:48:20] something,

[00:48:20] you want to prove everyone wrong.

[00:48:22] So do we need to,

[00:48:23] as a podcast,

[00:48:24] just tell them they can't win every week?

[00:48:26] Is that what it's going to take?

[00:48:28] I don't know.

[00:48:28] Like,

[00:48:28] there's another podcast that does that,

[00:48:29] isn't there?

[00:48:30] Yeah.

[00:48:32] I love them.

[00:48:33] I saw the great T. Mortimer this morning,

[00:48:35] actually,

[00:48:36] just randomly.

[00:48:36] We had a good chat.

[00:48:38] I like when we're told we can't do stuff.

[00:48:41] As you say,

[00:48:42] it's a human trait.

[00:48:43] You want to show the people that they're wrong.

[00:48:45] I think this year,

[00:48:46] and I may be completely wrong,

[00:48:47] but from my not great memory,

[00:48:50] this year is the first year I've heard players say to me on air that they wrote

[00:48:55] us off.

[00:48:56] They said we couldn't do it,

[00:48:57] et cetera.

[00:48:58] Usually we don't really hear that,

[00:49:00] but maybe it's just a case of all the pressure building up and being told you

[00:49:04] can't do it for so many years.

[00:49:05] You can't win finals,

[00:49:06] whatever.

[00:49:07] But this year,

[00:49:08] players are saying it to me,

[00:49:09] at least.

[00:49:10] I don't know if they're saying it to other people,

[00:49:11] but they're saying,

[00:49:11] yeah,

[00:49:12] we were told we couldn't do it.

[00:49:13] Everyone wrote us off.

[00:49:14] So it's obviously a thing that they're thinking about.

[00:49:17] It would be hard not to.

[00:49:19] Like,

[00:49:20] you know,

[00:49:20] people can say,

[00:49:20] the players can say,

[00:49:21] oh,

[00:49:21] they want,

[00:49:21] they don't,

[00:49:22] you know,

[00:49:22] they block out the outside noise and all that stuff.

[00:49:24] Like,

[00:49:25] they're going to hear it.

[00:49:27] And eventually you get sick of it.

[00:49:28] And the only thing you can do to change that is,

[00:49:30] is to prove them wrong and to go and win a finals game or to go and beat a

[00:49:33] top four side.

[00:49:34] And we've done that this year.

[00:49:35] I mean,

[00:49:36] round one warriors,

[00:49:37] no one gave us a chance.

[00:49:38] And we went over there and did the job.

[00:49:40] I know then,

[00:49:40] I know the season hasn't panned out that way,

[00:49:42] but at the time,

[00:49:44] completely different beast.

[00:49:46] You know,

[00:49:46] we,

[00:49:46] we've gone down and beaten Melbourne.

[00:49:48] We've beaten the Roosters,

[00:49:49] you know,

[00:49:49] we've beaten the Cowboys,

[00:49:51] like,

[00:49:52] beaten Brisbane,

[00:49:53] like irrelevant of where they are on the ladder.

[00:49:55] Like those are teams that we have historically not done well against

[00:49:58] or beaten regardless of position on the ladder.

[00:50:00] You can't win in big,

[00:50:01] again,

[00:50:01] with big crowds watching,

[00:50:02] like everything they said we couldn't do,

[00:50:03] we've done.

[00:50:05] We've done this year.

[00:50:06] And like,

[00:50:06] it's been a mostly consistent year.

[00:50:09] We've had some bad games,

[00:50:10] but we've won games we shouldn't have.

[00:50:12] So,

[00:50:12] you know,

[00:50:13] I,

[00:50:13] I think that the,

[00:50:14] the,

[00:50:15] the,

[00:50:16] we're starting to turn that corner slowly and it,

[00:50:18] it takes time.

[00:50:18] You don't just become an elite top four side overnight.

[00:50:22] And like,

[00:50:23] we probably overshot it in that first year of finishing second and came six last year,

[00:50:28] probably going to hopefully finish top four this year again.

[00:50:30] Like we're in a really good spot and we're building towards being,

[00:50:35] you know,

[00:50:36] that consistent top four side that no one wants to play.

[00:50:38] But until we beat someone in a finals game or we,

[00:50:41] you know,

[00:50:41] we,

[00:50:41] we do a Panthers or something,

[00:50:44] it's still going to be there.

[00:50:45] And we just have to live with that.

[00:50:46] And like,

[00:50:46] like you said on Monday's podcast,

[00:50:48] where we can only blame ourselves for that,

[00:50:51] for not doing it.

[00:50:51] Yeah.

[00:50:52] Yeah.

[00:50:52] And as I said,

[00:50:53] on Monday's podcast,

[00:50:54] fans better buckle in for that headline.

[00:50:56] It's coming.

[00:50:57] It's the,

[00:50:58] even if we go four from four here,

[00:50:59] it's coming.

[00:51:01] So just get ready for it.

[00:51:03] David says,

[00:51:04] great win by the sharks.

[00:51:05] Where's that form in of late?

[00:51:08] Uh,

[00:51:08] great to see the next tier and emerging players perform so well.

[00:51:12] Uh,

[00:51:12] expression next man up has become overused cliche,

[00:51:15] quickly losing its meaning.

[00:51:17] A couple of questions.

[00:51:19] Where did that sort of phrase originate and how can we replace it?

[00:51:22] I don't know,

[00:51:22] David.

[00:51:23] It's all about depth of squad.

[00:51:24] I don't think any player or club has ever thought he's not next man up.

[00:51:28] I don't think he can be the next man up.

[00:51:30] Yeah,

[00:51:30] that's a good point.

[00:51:31] Uh,

[00:51:32] definitely great weekend to be a shark.

[00:51:33] Now he says,

[00:51:34] the damage shark fan in me sees the following scenario.

[00:51:40] If the sharks lose,

[00:51:42] Oh,

[00:51:42] one of the next three games,

[00:51:44] we face the prospect of playing manly at Brookvale for a spot in the top four.

[00:51:49] Serenity now with a Seinfeld reference.

[00:51:52] Is that how you see it,

[00:51:54] Josh?

[00:51:54] If we lose one of the next three that we're in a battle for top four at Brookie?

[00:51:59] I mean,

[00:52:00] it all depends on what manly do,

[00:52:01] right?

[00:52:02] All the bulldogs maybe.

[00:52:04] All the bulldogs,

[00:52:04] but manly are close enough.

[00:52:07] Like if they win this week and we lost,

[00:52:08] for example,

[00:52:09] there'd be one point behind us,

[00:52:10] but I mean,

[00:52:12] they could lose,

[00:52:13] manly could go and lose three games in a row.

[00:52:15] Like you don't know.

[00:52:15] And then it's irrelevant.

[00:52:16] So,

[00:52:17] I mean,

[00:52:17] if it comes down to,

[00:52:18] let's say we're,

[00:52:19] let's say both teams win the next three games in a row and it comes down to it,

[00:52:22] I'll be terrified.

[00:52:23] I'm not,

[00:52:24] I'm not scared to admit that.

[00:52:25] I'll be scared.

[00:52:28] There's just something about me.

[00:52:29] I don't actually rate them at all,

[00:52:30] but they seem to keep winning.

[00:52:32] So maybe I need to reassess my thoughts on manly,

[00:52:35] but it's,

[00:52:36] it really is all about tall Tommy T.

[00:52:38] Like he changes them and you watch them play and he's like the guy.

[00:52:43] Like I watched them.

[00:52:44] Did they beat Canber on the weekend or who'd they beat?

[00:52:46] They beat someone.

[00:52:47] Yeah.

[00:52:48] And I thought,

[00:52:48] Oh,

[00:52:49] maybe Canberra is a slim chance here.

[00:52:51] It's like,

[00:52:51] nah,

[00:52:51] manly way too good,

[00:52:52] but it's all on the back of him.

[00:52:54] Obviously,

[00:52:55] Cherry Evans is great too,

[00:52:56] but yeah,

[00:52:57] I'm with you and David.

[00:52:58] I don't really want to be fighting for a top four spot at Brookvale level.

[00:53:01] I just don't want to do that.

[00:53:03] I don't really have the energy to do that,

[00:53:05] but we'll see what happens.

[00:53:07] I guess next week is a major game,

[00:53:10] the derby.

[00:53:11] Like if we can win that derby,

[00:53:12] because out of the next three,

[00:53:14] to me,

[00:53:15] that's the most difficult.

[00:53:16] It's away from home.

[00:53:17] They're probably the best out of the Knights and the Warriors.

[00:53:21] So if we can jag that one next week,

[00:53:24] including the other two,

[00:53:24] I think we'll be sweet,

[00:53:25] but it's interesting,

[00:53:27] Sam,

[00:53:27] just having a look now.

[00:53:28] So Cronulla,

[00:53:30] Canterbury and Manly all play each other in the next,

[00:53:33] in the last few rounds.

[00:53:34] So we play Manly last round.

[00:53:37] yeah,

[00:53:37] yeah.

[00:53:38] And Manly versus Canterbury play the game before.

[00:53:41] Right.

[00:53:41] So the,

[00:53:44] the,

[00:53:44] I think both teams should win their next two games.

[00:53:47] And then it's those last two rounds are really going to decide what happens

[00:53:51] there between Canterbury and Manly and Cronulla.

[00:53:53] I feel like the dolphins might get the dogs this week.

[00:53:56] It's up at,

[00:53:56] it's up at Bundaberg for some reason.

[00:53:58] And I just feel like the dolphins have still got something left to do.

[00:54:02] Yeah.

[00:54:02] Okay.

[00:54:03] Yeah.

[00:54:03] They have to win.

[00:54:04] So yeah,

[00:54:06] it's all on the line at the moment.

[00:54:06] It's great time of the year when,

[00:54:08] when the top eight teams are all playing each other and it's all on the line.

[00:54:11] Like it's essentially a mini finals campaign.

[00:54:14] So Steven wrote in and said,

[00:54:16] listen to the Monday pod you mentioned in the off season,

[00:54:19] watching the 2016 season and getting over current season disappointment.

[00:54:23] Got me thinking,

[00:54:24] maybe you could help.

[00:54:25] Is there a 2016 season DVD that features a summary of the storylines?

[00:54:31] I have the grand final DV.

[00:54:33] Uh,

[00:54:34] with no extras.

[00:54:36] Yeah.

[00:54:36] Steven,

[00:54:36] there is it.

[00:54:37] I've got it.

[00:54:38] It's really good.

[00:54:38] There's a,

[00:54:40] I think it's a voice by our friend,

[00:54:42] Andrew Voss and it's cool.

[00:54:45] Yeah,

[00:54:45] definitely.

[00:54:45] You'll be able to find it somewhere.

[00:54:47] If it's not on Amazon,

[00:54:48] you'd be able to get a second hand and it's probably,

[00:54:51] I don't know,

[00:54:52] an hour and a half,

[00:54:53] two hours.

[00:54:54] And it's just game by game.

[00:54:56] And Vossi tells you the story about it.

[00:54:58] And it's pretty cool.

[00:54:59] Like I actually haven't watched that one for a while.

[00:55:01] I was joking,

[00:55:02] Steven,

[00:55:02] when I said that I watched the TV,

[00:55:03] 2016 season in the off season,

[00:55:05] just to get over everything.

[00:55:06] But my point stands that I'm hungry for a new title this year.

[00:55:12] If we were to go to the big dance and lose,

[00:55:15] I,

[00:55:15] yeah,

[00:55:15] would be up for days with Josh,

[00:55:17] just drinking whiskey over the,

[00:55:19] over the ocean.

[00:55:20] But it wouldn't be like what it was if we'd lost the last one.

[00:55:25] So that was my only point there.

[00:55:27] And yes,

[00:55:27] we will be talking about,

[00:55:29] uh,

[00:55:29] that season and other seasons in the off season.

[00:55:32] So stay tuned for that.

[00:55:33] Appreciate you being in touch.

[00:55:35] Peter said,

[00:55:37] Peter said,

[00:55:50] about some old footballers,

[00:55:51] including one of the greatest of all time,

[00:55:54] the great Gavin Miller.

[00:55:56] Did I tell you my Gavin Miller story,

[00:55:58] Sam,

[00:55:58] when I met him?

[00:55:59] I know it,

[00:55:59] but I'd love you to tell everyone about it.

[00:56:01] Yeah.

[00:56:01] So I was,

[00:56:02] I'd had a few beverages and I was,

[00:56:05] um,

[00:56:06] gained up the courage to go and chat to Gavin and,

[00:56:08] and tell him how much,

[00:56:09] you know,

[00:56:09] he met me even though he was,

[00:56:10] back up,

[00:56:10] tell everyone where you were.

[00:56:11] We're at the shark cast party where I first met you and Adam.

[00:56:15] And it was,

[00:56:16] we're watching the sharks play.

[00:56:18] And,

[00:56:18] um,

[00:56:19] there was a bunch of people there,

[00:56:20] Ben Ross and Gavin Miller and a couple other legends there from the sharks.

[00:56:24] And yes,

[00:56:24] I went to speak to Gavin,

[00:56:26] just told him that,

[00:56:27] you know,

[00:56:27] even though he was outside of my era,

[00:56:29] like I've,

[00:56:29] you know,

[00:56:30] done my research,

[00:56:31] and I know how much he meant to the club and everything.

[00:56:33] And,

[00:56:33] you know,

[00:56:34] as you do,

[00:56:35] when you've had a few drinks,

[00:56:36] you,

[00:56:36] you splurge a little bit and say,

[00:56:37] you know,

[00:56:38] all these great things.

[00:56:39] And he was really appreciative of it.

[00:56:41] And he asked me to write down my address and my name and my number on just like,

[00:56:46] uh,

[00:56:47] like a,

[00:56:47] a pamphlet or something,

[00:56:48] a piece of paper.

[00:56:50] And I didn't think anything of it.

[00:56:51] I don't know why.

[00:56:52] And then about a week later,

[00:56:54] he had sent me like three signed photos of him,

[00:56:58] like in different areas and like,

[00:57:00] just the sweetest gesture that I didn't even think he was doing.

[00:57:03] I don't,

[00:57:03] you know,

[00:57:05] he had no reason to do that.

[00:57:06] And he remembered and like,

[00:57:08] it was like such a,

[00:57:10] like profound moment for me to have such a legend of someone I looked up to for this club.

[00:57:14] It's a,

[00:57:15] it's an old school move by,

[00:57:17] by athletes and even sort of entertainers.

[00:57:20] Like you have some photos,

[00:57:21] you get them signed,

[00:57:22] you send them off to people who,

[00:57:23] who,

[00:57:23] you know,

[00:57:24] request them or in your case,

[00:57:25] just sort of a nice thing.

[00:57:27] Uh,

[00:57:27] yeah,

[00:57:28] real great ambassador for the club.

[00:57:30] We love him on the pod.

[00:57:32] And,

[00:57:32] uh,

[00:57:32] if you ever seen him around,

[00:57:34] just get,

[00:57:34] go up and say good day.

[00:57:35] Cause he's very approachable.

[00:57:36] If you haven't seen him,

[00:57:38] I know we've got a lot of listeners who are younger and,

[00:57:41] and,

[00:57:41] uh,

[00:57:41] very much new generation fans of the team.

[00:57:46] Uh,

[00:57:46] go on YouTube,

[00:57:47] Chuck and Gavin Miller,

[00:57:48] Cronulla Sharks,

[00:57:49] and just watch some of the highlights.

[00:57:50] It's just unbelievable.

[00:57:51] Just the ball playing forward.

[00:57:53] Like you've never seen just ridiculous.

[00:57:56] And,

[00:57:56] uh,

[00:57:56] definitely,

[00:57:57] as I said on the show on Monday,

[00:57:58] he,

[00:57:59] you know,

[00:57:59] he copped a battering for what he did.

[00:58:01] That should never be forgotten as well.

[00:58:03] But,

[00:58:03] uh,

[00:58:03] I want to give a shout out to Matt who continues to spread the podcast love via his social media.

[00:58:09] So really appreciate that,

[00:58:10] Matt.

[00:58:11] Hello to our friend Smitty,

[00:58:13] long time listener.

[00:58:14] Hello to Evan,

[00:58:16] our friend Fraser Glenn,

[00:58:18] who's a competitive real estate agent to,

[00:58:20] uh,

[00:58:20] Jason Hawes.

[00:58:21] That's kind of nice.

[00:58:22] The,

[00:58:22] the real estate wars.

[00:58:23] Throwing our friend Justin Ressler,

[00:58:25] like it's just real estate people going through the roof on Shark House Pod.

[00:58:29] You know,

[00:58:29] Jason Hawes is number one,

[00:58:30] but if you're out of the Shire,

[00:58:33] uh,

[00:58:33] look up Fraser Glenn.

[00:58:34] He's a good fella.

[00:58:35] He says,

[00:58:36] what a great night.

[00:58:37] I'm ashamed to admit I tipped the Titans.

[00:58:38] Oh boy.

[00:58:40] Uh,

[00:58:40] two famous victories on the road this season with Atkinson in the halves,

[00:58:44] McInnes in defense and Braley in attack.

[00:58:45] Um,

[00:58:46] have we cracked the code?

[00:58:48] Still plenty to improve on,

[00:58:50] but impressed with stone street.

[00:58:51] Maybe it's no coincidence.

[00:58:53] We've stopped leaking points down that edge.

[00:58:55] And he says that as Ronnie's favorite,

[00:58:57] uh,

[00:58:58] Ronnie's his favorite player.

[00:58:59] So that's interesting.

[00:59:00] He says,

[00:59:01] of course,

[00:59:01] Ronnie walks back into the team.

[00:59:02] He's as good as it gets,

[00:59:04] but I'd love to see him stop jamming in on repeat.

[00:59:08] Josh,

[00:59:08] is that something we're looking at with stone street?

[00:59:11] Like,

[00:59:12] has he stopped that defense a little bit or?

[00:59:16] I can't say it's not a coincidence.

[00:59:18] Like that,

[00:59:19] that edge is really,

[00:59:21] really sharpened up in the last few,

[00:59:23] like couple of weeks.

[00:59:24] And is that because Ronnie,

[00:59:26] I don't know.

[00:59:27] I,

[00:59:28] I am definitely someone that,

[00:59:30] that points that out.

[00:59:32] And I'm not a fan of his jamming in.

[00:59:35] And sometimes combination,

[00:59:36] sometimes some guys just work better as combinations.

[00:59:38] Maybe Iro and Sam have just got better communication or there's a bit more trust.

[00:59:43] I don't know.

[00:59:44] Like,

[00:59:44] do you think there's anything to that?

[00:59:46] Haven't really given enough thought and maybe it's circumstantial.

[00:59:50] It was a problem for Ronnie in the last few weeks that he played.

[00:59:53] I don't think it's been a problem all year,

[00:59:55] but definitely crept back into his game.

[00:59:58] He got rid of it.

[00:59:58] It's crept back in.

[01:00:00] Yeah.

[01:00:00] I mean,

[01:00:01] he was playing with some injuries.

[01:00:02] Maybe it's something to do with that.

[01:00:04] I'm not sure,

[01:00:05] but we definitely do not see to any large degree stone street in the road doing it.

[01:00:11] So something to be looked at for sure.

[01:00:14] Sean said,

[01:00:16] good stuff,

[01:00:16] Jack W.

[01:00:18] Michael,

[01:00:19] the statistician says,

[01:00:21] I love the top fives that you and Kieran have been doing.

[01:00:24] And it came down.

[01:00:25] So just to briefly say what we do on that show,

[01:00:29] Josh,

[01:00:29] is that Kieran picks five players,

[01:00:33] Sharks players,

[01:00:33] and he puts a category on them.

[01:00:35] So he'll say they played zero to 50 games.

[01:00:38] This five have played 200 to 300 and I've got to pick them,

[01:00:41] but I pick them in an order that I don't know.

[01:00:43] So he says one player and I go,

[01:00:45] he's four.

[01:00:46] And then he picks the next player.

[01:00:47] He tries to trick me basically.

[01:00:49] In this case,

[01:00:50] Michael says,

[01:00:51] between Preston Campbell and Jack Bird,

[01:00:54] I'm having Jack just in front.

[01:00:57] Preston transformed the team back then,

[01:01:01] but couldn't get the premiership.

[01:01:03] I'm in no means undervaluing Preston's contribution in the O1 season,

[01:01:07] but all things considered,

[01:01:09] Jack gives more on the time he was at Sharks.

[01:01:12] 2016 grand final was almost a Churchill medal.

[01:01:16] Heroic.

[01:01:17] I'm voting to keep the top five game going for a while.

[01:01:21] Thank you,

[01:01:21] Michael,

[01:01:21] for that.

[01:01:22] Michael was also the one that said something about,

[01:01:25] what did he say?

[01:01:26] Oh,

[01:01:26] Chris Anderson being a worthwhile coach at the time.

[01:01:29] So there's more to this story.

[01:01:31] We'll get to Michael,

[01:01:32] I think in the off season,

[01:01:33] he can tell us all about that.

[01:01:35] I want to give a shout out to our friend in Melbourne,

[01:01:38] Luke,

[01:01:38] who has had some relatively good news.

[01:01:42] So that's kind of cool.

[01:01:42] Thanks for letting us know about that.

[01:01:44] Hopefully that works out for you.

[01:01:46] Brent has written to us.

[01:01:48] Brent sometimes likes to get his frustrations out,

[01:01:51] but he says in this one,

[01:01:52] great win.

[01:01:53] Two in a row against average sides.

[01:01:56] I won't be satisfied till we win the next two.

[01:01:59] Then I'll start believing again.

[01:02:00] Well,

[01:02:01] Brent,

[01:02:02] I'll get you early.

[01:02:04] The Titans were like,

[01:02:05] along with Melbourne and the Roosters,

[01:02:06] the form team of last month.

[01:02:09] So I'm going to stop you there.

[01:02:10] They weren't average,

[01:02:11] but they did play average in that game.

[01:02:13] I'll give you that.

[01:02:14] He said,

[01:02:15] Jack Williams had a big game.

[01:02:16] Hopefully it's not a one-off.

[01:02:18] Braley's game was lifted to another level.

[01:02:21] That's how he needs to continue to play what he's doing.

[01:02:24] Quite happy with Stone Street showing the speed out wide.

[01:02:29] And Siffer keeps getting better.

[01:02:31] So some positivity there from Brent in some negativity,

[01:02:34] which is fine as well.

[01:02:36] Home this Sunday,

[01:02:37] we should be putting on a show in front of the home fans,

[01:02:39] putting on a big score on a team that isn't up to our league.

[01:02:43] Up,

[01:02:43] up.

[01:02:44] That's from Brent.

[01:02:44] I think that we'll get to it in the next segment really quickly,

[01:02:47] but I think that we should be able to at least win against the Knights.

[01:02:52] We'll get to that though.

[01:02:53] Thanks,

[01:02:53] Brent,

[01:02:53] for being in touch.

[01:02:54] Appreciate it.

[01:02:55] Steve said,

[01:02:57] great performance by the whole team.

[01:02:59] Credit where it's due.

[01:03:00] I thought Jack Williams,

[01:03:01] Blake Braley,

[01:03:02] Cal Ero,

[01:03:03] Rudolph,

[01:03:04] Atkinson,

[01:03:04] and Stone Street were just a few that really stood up.

[01:03:07] The whole team was special.

[01:03:09] Nobody let us down.

[01:03:10] Hoping they can repeat that.

[01:03:12] Very proud of the boys for that display.

[01:03:14] Need to keep it going.

[01:03:15] All the way to the top four in the grand final.

[01:03:17] How good is that?

[01:03:18] Up,

[01:03:18] up.

[01:03:19] That's from Steve.

[01:03:20] Thanks for being in touch,

[01:03:21] Steve.

[01:03:21] Appreciate it.

[01:03:22] Chris says,

[01:03:24] and this is an interesting one.

[01:03:25] I did read this one before.

[01:03:27] Chris says,

[01:03:28] Jack Williams is going to become another Scott Sorensen.

[01:03:30] Shows a lot of promise.

[01:03:32] Sharks let him go.

[01:03:33] And he's a valuable regular in a premiership winning team.

[01:03:36] Hope we can keep him.

[01:03:38] Now,

[01:03:38] what's wrong about that statement,

[01:03:40] Josh?

[01:03:41] Well,

[01:03:41] I mean,

[01:03:41] we've had Jack for like seven or eight years,

[01:03:44] right?

[01:03:45] Continue.

[01:03:45] I don't know where you,

[01:03:46] I'm not sure where you want me to go.

[01:03:48] Well,

[01:03:48] I would say,

[01:03:49] I would say,

[01:03:50] first of all,

[01:03:50] thanks for being in touch,

[01:03:51] Chris.

[01:03:51] And I,

[01:03:52] I completely understand where you're coming from.

[01:03:54] I think that Jack Williams has shown 100% more of what he is compared to what Scott Sorensen showed us back when he was with us.

[01:04:04] Scott Sorensen had some,

[01:04:06] maybe like two or three breakout games.

[01:04:09] He had,

[01:04:10] I'm assuming 50,

[01:04:12] I don't even know how many there were.

[01:04:14] I don't have it in front of me,

[01:04:14] but he had the rest of his career at Cronulla was just sort of in the middle.

[01:04:19] Not bad,

[01:04:20] not great,

[01:04:21] just in the middle.

[01:04:22] Solid,

[01:04:23] benchy,

[01:04:24] fringy.

[01:04:25] Absolutely went to Penrith,

[01:04:26] lit it up.

[01:04:27] He's a regular first grader.

[01:04:28] Maybe that's what he needed to get the next level.

[01:04:30] Maybe he was getting over injuries during his time.

[01:04:32] I don't know.

[01:04:33] Definitely next level.

[01:04:34] But I would argue,

[01:04:35] very politely,

[01:04:36] Chris,

[01:04:36] that Jack Williams has been our best forward in at least two of the seasons he's been with us.

[01:04:43] I think he's had way more of a impact on our squad than what Scott Sorensen did.

[01:04:48] Well,

[01:04:48] I'll go further than that.

[01:04:49] I think Jack Williams is a better player than Scott Sorensen.

[01:04:51] I know they're different positions,

[01:04:53] but I think he's a better player.

[01:04:56] And Scott suits that system.

[01:04:58] I understand what Chris is saying.

[01:04:59] So I'm not ragging on Chris.

[01:05:00] Chris is saying,

[01:05:01] don't let him go and win a comp somewhere else.

[01:05:03] I get it.

[01:05:04] I'm just having a bit of fun.

[01:05:05] And I'm not ragging on Scott.

[01:05:07] Scott's a great bloke and become a really good player.

[01:05:10] And when he was with us,

[01:05:11] he was fine.

[01:05:12] But he wasn't screaming out to the coaching staff,

[01:05:17] sign me,

[01:05:18] in my opinion.

[01:05:19] I agree.

[01:05:20] But you're spot on,

[01:05:21] Chris.

[01:05:21] We do need to re-sign Jack.

[01:05:23] Hopefully that will be coming.

[01:05:26] Troy said,

[01:05:27] Stonestreet was very good against Titans.

[01:05:30] And he says,

[01:05:30] twice they've played with the seven forwards in one half.

[01:05:33] And I believe our two best performances of the year.

[01:05:37] And probably two of the better wins.

[01:05:38] I mean,

[01:05:38] let's not discount the fact that we absolutely had a lot of fun with the

[01:05:41] Roosters and with Nico in charge and some other games there where we had

[01:05:46] a ball,

[01:05:46] the Broncos game.

[01:05:47] So we're not suggesting that our best games are without our halves.

[01:05:51] What we are saying is that they pulled out two amazing wins without them.

[01:05:55] So very good stuff.

[01:05:57] I think that's all the mail.

[01:05:58] So really appreciate everyone being in touch.

[01:06:00] I'm going to tell you right now about Jason Hawes at Crips and Crips Real Estate.

[01:06:04] He's been in the real estate industry for over 20 years,

[01:06:08] 20 plus years,

[01:06:09] mainly in the Sutherland Shire.

[01:06:11] And he can look after any need you have when it comes to real estate.

[01:06:15] Queries,

[01:06:15] questions,

[01:06:16] anything at all.

[01:06:17] He'd love to hear from you.

[01:06:18] Get in touch with Jason on 0410 417 450.

[01:06:22] That's 0410 417 450.

[01:06:25] Jason Hawes,

[01:06:26] part of Crips and Crips Real Estate.

[01:06:28] Great fella.

[01:06:30] The three companies I mentioned,

[01:06:31] Josh,

[01:06:32] are all huge supporters of the Cronel Sharks.

[01:06:35] The people that I deal with at those companies are lifelong season ticket holders.

[01:06:39] They are all in on the Sharks.

[01:06:42] Josh,

[01:06:43] we have a big game this week against the Newcastle Knights.

[01:06:48] 405 kickoff.

[01:06:50] Cannot wait for it.

[01:06:52] Let's go to the team news.

[01:06:56] I will pull up the team on the computer so we can see it.

[01:07:00] But the spoiler is,

[01:07:01] they've named a team very similar to last week.

[01:07:04] So the back line remains the same in theory with Atkinson and Braley in the halves.

[01:07:11] Toby gets the starting spot with Oregon Kofusi.

[01:07:14] Talakai and Jack Williams are at the back of the scrum again.

[01:07:18] Your immediate interchange bench is Jaden Beryl,

[01:07:22] Billy Burns,

[01:07:23] Royce Hunt,

[01:07:24] and Tom Hazleton.

[01:07:26] Now this is where it gets interesting.

[01:07:28] The extended bench is Nephi Peru,

[01:07:31] Braden Hamlin-Wahley,

[01:07:33] Braden Trindle,

[01:07:34] Ronaldo Milotalo,

[01:07:36] and Tukuhai Tapua.

[01:07:37] So the last four guys are pretty much first grade regulars.

[01:07:41] No intel right now as to what the heck's going on.

[01:07:45] I will be down at training media session in the next couple hours.

[01:07:49] So I might know something then,

[01:07:52] might not.

[01:07:52] From what I'm hearing so far,

[01:07:54] Josh,

[01:07:55] on a Wednesday afternoon,

[01:07:56] is that the most likely out of those guys will be Braden Trindle.

[01:07:59] Doesn't mean he is going to play,

[01:08:01] but he is the kind of trending towards the most likely out of the other crew.

[01:08:06] Are you okay if that 1-17 team runs out there,

[01:08:10] Josh?

[01:08:10] Yeah,

[01:08:11] I've just been thinking as well,

[01:08:12] just sorry not to go too much off topic,

[01:08:14] but would you consider Jack Williams to start in the front row at all this year

[01:08:19] when everyone's back and McInnes could still play 13?

[01:08:22] Is that something you'd consider?

[01:08:24] Yeah,

[01:08:24] because I don't really see Jack as a ball playing lock,

[01:08:28] right?

[01:08:28] Like did he,

[01:08:29] he didn't really do that on the weekend.

[01:08:30] That was just all McInnes.

[01:08:32] So there's no difference,

[01:08:33] right?

[01:08:34] Yeah.

[01:08:34] I'm just spitballing.

[01:08:35] Like if we,

[01:08:36] if it comes down to,

[01:08:37] you know,

[01:08:38] when everyone's healthy to get Jack and Cam on the field,

[01:08:40] at the same time for as long as possible.

[01:08:42] I think that as long as Jack's playing in the middle and yeah,

[01:08:47] playing big minutes,

[01:08:47] I've got no problem with that at all.

[01:08:49] Yeah.

[01:08:49] He'd get the job done for you.

[01:08:51] There's,

[01:08:51] there's literally no difference these days between a lock and a prop in,

[01:08:54] in the way that Jack plays.

[01:08:56] It's like Cam McInnes different,

[01:08:58] Cam Murray different.

[01:08:59] I get it.

[01:08:59] But a Jack Williams.

[01:09:01] Yeah.

[01:09:01] He's got some hands.

[01:09:02] We've seen him with a try,

[01:09:03] even this year,

[01:09:04] but I don't have no problem with that.

[01:09:06] If he's,

[01:09:07] as long as he's running the ball up and down,

[01:09:09] it's,

[01:09:10] um,

[01:09:10] it doesn't really matter what the number is,

[01:09:11] but yeah,

[01:09:11] anyway,

[01:09:12] back to this week's team.

[01:09:13] I think that if we run that out,

[01:09:16] I'm fine with it.

[01:09:17] Um,

[01:09:18] we've done it a couple of times now.

[01:09:20] I thought maybe the fact that he's named it again and that there's no

[01:09:24] surprise factor this time,

[01:09:25] he might've done something different,

[01:09:27] but I also don't think Fitz plays those games anyway.

[01:09:29] So,

[01:09:31] um,

[01:09:31] I expect that we'll do the exact same thing as we did last week.

[01:09:34] If this is how it is.

[01:09:35] Um,

[01:09:36] if Trindle comes back in,

[01:09:37] obviously rarely just goes back to nine and,

[01:09:40] um,

[01:09:41] we play like normal.

[01:09:41] So looking at the Knights team,

[01:09:44] I heard a sneaky rumor about Ponga maybe not being fit.

[01:09:47] I don't,

[01:09:48] I'm only putting out there cause I heard it.

[01:09:50] There was some sort of cloud,

[01:09:52] but I'm sure he'll play,

[01:09:54] but named it fullback,

[01:09:57] uh,

[01:09:57] Fletcher Sharp on the wing who scored four tries last week.

[01:10:00] Now Dylan Lucas,

[01:10:01] who's a great player.

[01:10:02] He's still being named in the centers and he's more of a edge back

[01:10:06] row.

[01:10:06] So that might be something they want to look at the halves,

[01:10:09] the Tyson gamble and Phoenix Crossland.

[01:10:11] And not remarkable.

[01:10:13] Forward pack is,

[01:10:14] is decent.

[01:10:15] Let's be honest.

[01:10:16] Uh,

[01:10:16] Dan Saifidi,

[01:10:17] who's actually pretty good.

[01:10:19] Jaden Braley,

[01:10:21] Leo Thompson is a beast.

[01:10:23] Tyson Frizzell,

[01:10:24] who in my opinion is still a beast.

[01:10:25] Uh,

[01:10:26] Pierce Paul,

[01:10:26] who's really good.

[01:10:27] Adam Elliott locks a scrum.

[01:10:28] So it's not a bad pack that they have.

[01:10:31] And on the bench is Jack Cogger,

[01:10:33] Matt Croker,

[01:10:34] Jack Heddington,

[01:10:35] Brodie Jones.

[01:10:35] Jones.

[01:10:37] So I think it's a very winnable game.

[01:10:39] No matter who we put out there,

[01:10:41] I will say that if Ponger is fit and firing,

[01:10:45] he's obviously their danger guy.

[01:10:47] Like we get that.

[01:10:47] I still don't have a lot of fear from him,

[01:10:50] but he is a guy that,

[01:10:51] you know,

[01:10:52] he has the skills.

[01:10:53] I do think it's a very winnable game though,

[01:10:56] Josh.

[01:10:56] A hundred percent.

[01:10:57] It is.

[01:10:58] Um,

[01:10:58] I will be disappointed if we don't win.

[01:11:00] I'm not saying that it's a,

[01:11:02] it's a lock because we've seen the Knights turn it on a few times this year.

[01:11:06] Yeah.

[01:11:06] Um,

[01:11:06] that Fletcher Sharp is a bit of a worry with the pace.

[01:11:09] They've got a lot of toilers and a lot of guys who work hard like that.

[01:11:12] Dylan Lucas is not a bad player.

[01:11:13] No,

[01:11:13] no,

[01:11:14] no.

[01:11:14] He's good.

[01:11:14] He is a second row,

[01:11:15] but any,

[01:11:16] but he's filled in admirably at center a few times this year.

[01:11:19] I'd still be trying to,

[01:11:20] I'd be getting at him as much as possible.

[01:11:21] That's my point.

[01:11:22] Um,

[01:11:22] yeah.

[01:11:23] Yeah.

[01:11:24] But he can play.

[01:11:25] Um,

[01:11:25] I,

[01:11:26] there's not a lot that strikes fear into,

[01:11:28] into me on this side,

[01:11:29] but you know,

[01:11:30] we've been quite at before saying that and then we've been towed up.

[01:11:33] So I just,

[01:11:34] I think at home three grades packed house,

[01:11:37] if it's a sunny Sunday afternoon,

[01:11:39] I do expect us to go on and win fairly comfortably.

[01:11:42] Um,

[01:11:43] I'd be looking at,

[01:11:44] you know,

[01:11:44] Talakai on that edge at whatever,

[01:11:47] at whatever half they've got just hammering that,

[01:11:50] that bloke.

[01:11:50] Like I can't remember who,

[01:11:51] who is on that edge,

[01:11:52] but Nicole running a line.

[01:11:54] Like,

[01:11:54] I just think we're going to have too much in the way of attack.

[01:11:57] Even if it is,

[01:11:57] Kim McKinnis playing halfback again,

[01:11:59] I just think we're going to have too much.

[01:12:00] And with,

[01:12:01] we're fitter,

[01:12:02] we've got better players.

[01:12:03] Um,

[01:12:05] you just got,

[01:12:05] we've just got to shut down Ponga on those sweet plays on that,

[01:12:08] on that edge that he likes on that left edge.

[01:12:10] You just got to shut that down.

[01:12:11] And that's a lot of their attack comes through that.

[01:12:13] So they've got Greg Marsview on the wing and he is remarkably strong and gets a lot of meters.

[01:12:20] And you don't want him running at you from five out because you'll probably score.

[01:12:24] So I look at guys like that and go,

[01:12:25] Oh yeah,

[01:12:26] he could score a try.

[01:12:27] He could do a number on us to an extent,

[01:12:29] but I look at them as a whole.

[01:12:31] And I mean,

[01:12:32] the halves again,

[01:12:33] I,

[01:12:34] I just don't fear anything with Tyson Gamble and Phoenix Crossland.

[01:12:39] You know,

[01:12:39] a hundred percent what you're going to get from them.

[01:12:41] And that's not necessarily a bad thing for them,

[01:12:44] but as an opposition,

[01:12:45] that's,

[01:12:46] you know,

[01:12:46] that's pretty good that you know what you're going to get.

[01:12:49] Uh,

[01:12:49] I think that the Braley versus Braley thing is pretty cool.

[01:12:51] I think they'll both sort of rise out of that.

[01:12:53] We've seen them,

[01:12:54] we've seen them play against each other before,

[01:12:55] but it's,

[01:12:55] it's never something that like knowing,

[01:12:59] Blake,

[01:12:59] a little bit like I do.

[01:13:00] And even Jaden,

[01:13:02] like there is a rivalry and it will be a lot of fun and you know,

[01:13:05] there'll be hugs before and after,

[01:13:06] but once they're on that field,

[01:13:07] like they're going to go for it.

[01:13:08] And that's actually a really fun kind of storyline for me.

[01:13:11] I just think man to man,

[01:13:12] we've got too much against them.

[01:13:14] And,

[01:13:15] uh,

[01:13:15] I'd sort of forgotten the bench that we named.

[01:13:17] So Beryl Burns,

[01:13:18] Hunt and Hazelton.

[01:13:19] So competent bench,

[01:13:22] but we'll see if anything comes out of Hamon Welly,

[01:13:26] even a Tuku who I believe played for the Jets.

[01:13:28] It's last week.

[01:13:28] So that could change.

[01:13:30] It may not.

[01:13:30] We'll see what happens.

[01:13:31] We're a long way out from Sunday is the other thing,

[01:13:33] Josh.

[01:13:33] We're only recording this on Wednesday.

[01:13:35] So we've got like half a week to go.

[01:13:36] I mean,

[01:13:37] I,

[01:13:37] one of our listeners said,

[01:13:38] you know,

[01:13:38] they'd be disappointed if we didn't go on with it.

[01:13:40] I think at this point of the year and you know,

[01:13:43] I hate to do it,

[01:13:44] but you think about 2016 and you were just looking for Ws.

[01:13:46] You weren't really,

[01:13:47] yeah.

[01:13:48] You know,

[01:13:48] we won some games,

[01:13:49] we lost some games that year,

[01:13:51] end of the year.

[01:13:51] And it was like,

[01:13:52] we just,

[01:13:52] we're looking at the finish line.

[01:13:53] And at this point,

[01:13:54] we're not in that dominant force.

[01:13:55] Like we're still trying to make,

[01:13:57] trying to make the four.

[01:13:58] So we're not in that same spot,

[01:14:00] but as long as we win on the weekend,

[01:14:01] I'll be happy,

[01:14:02] you know,

[01:14:03] minimize injuries and suspensions,

[01:14:04] that kind of thing.

[01:14:05] Happier.

[01:14:06] If you can do a number on them,

[01:14:08] beautiful,

[01:14:08] happy days with the foreign against.

[01:14:10] Cause that could become a thing at the moment.

[01:14:12] We're pretty good with foreign against.

[01:14:14] If they can improve on that,

[01:14:15] that's even better,

[01:14:17] but I wouldn't necessarily,

[01:14:19] well,

[01:14:19] I definitely wouldn't be playing like that.

[01:14:20] I just think if it's half an hour to go and we're winning by 20,

[01:14:24] then I'd be like,

[01:14:25] well,

[01:14:26] let's try and go on with it.

[01:14:27] For me right now,

[01:14:28] the foreign against is,

[01:14:29] is not a factor purely because we're so far ahead of the dogs and we're a

[01:14:34] fair amount behind the roosters.

[01:14:37] And if the roosters go on and,

[01:14:39] you know,

[01:14:39] win a cup,

[01:14:40] like smash someone and it's,

[01:14:42] it's irrelevant.

[01:14:43] The dogs,

[01:14:43] as long as we don't get smashed,

[01:14:45] really,

[01:14:45] the dogs won't catch us foreign against.

[01:14:47] So like you said,

[01:14:48] for me,

[01:14:48] it's just the wins,

[01:14:49] the foreign against,

[01:14:50] is fairly relevant.

[01:14:52] Unless the roosters drop a game or get,

[01:14:54] you know,

[01:14:54] touched up a little bit,

[01:14:56] it's not going to factor in too much.

[01:14:57] I think at this point,

[01:14:58] so just get the win,

[01:15:00] get win,

[01:15:01] keep winning,

[01:15:01] keep the dogs and manly away from us,

[01:15:03] make it impossible for them to check,

[01:15:05] to catch us in the last round,

[01:15:07] which is what I want.

[01:15:07] Yeah.

[01:15:08] That's my,

[01:15:08] my ultimate goal actually is to have a top four locked in with one week to

[01:15:13] go.

[01:15:13] And then you get to that game and rest.

[01:15:16] I would imagine you resting everyone.

[01:15:17] Yeah.

[01:15:17] And then there's the old debate.

[01:15:18] Well,

[01:15:18] they need to play.

[01:15:19] It's like,

[01:15:19] they don't need to play.

[01:15:20] They played for 27 weeks.

[01:15:21] It's fine.

[01:15:23] So,

[01:15:23] oh,

[01:15:24] but Nico Hines,

[01:15:24] yeah,

[01:15:24] don't worry.

[01:15:25] He's not going to play.

[01:15:26] So would you play him if he,

[01:15:27] if he was ready to go?

[01:15:28] And it was meaningless.

[01:15:29] We had,

[01:15:30] if it was meaningless,

[01:15:31] would you want him to get the run?

[01:15:34] No.

[01:15:34] No.

[01:15:35] No.

[01:15:35] No.

[01:15:35] Because it's all about the finals.

[01:15:37] Just to blow out the cobwebs though,

[01:15:38] it's been,

[01:15:39] it'll be,

[01:15:39] it'll have been about eight weeks,

[01:15:41] right?

[01:15:41] Since then.

[01:15:41] I just,

[01:15:42] I don't think so.

[01:15:43] Because it's not like NFL where you can bring him on and off.

[01:15:47] He's a sub.

[01:15:48] Unless you have the game plan of,

[01:15:50] it means nothing.

[01:15:51] It's a trial match.

[01:15:52] Give him the 40 minutes and then take him off.

[01:15:55] Yeah.

[01:15:56] Maybe.

[01:15:57] Maybe.

[01:15:57] If you want,

[01:15:58] maybe.

[01:15:59] It's risky though.

[01:15:59] It's risky.

[01:16:00] It is,

[01:16:01] but it's risky the other way as well,

[01:16:02] of just chucking him into a finals game at Melbourne or Pemrith,

[01:16:05] eight weeks off.

[01:16:06] That's my only.

[01:16:07] But if you're,

[01:16:07] if you're training five days a week and you're Tuku hitting you up training and

[01:16:11] like there's ways to kind of mimic it.

[01:16:13] You'll never mimic a proper game.

[01:16:15] I'm not trying to say you would,

[01:16:17] but there are ways to kind of ease your way into it without playing.

[01:16:21] I mean,

[01:16:21] you know,

[01:16:22] it just takes one angry dude from Manly just to take your guy out for the

[01:16:26] series.

[01:16:27] So yeah,

[01:16:27] I think I'm with you.

[01:16:29] I'm like 80%.

[01:16:30] That'll be a debate we have in three weeks,

[01:16:31] but yeah.

[01:16:33] Also,

[01:16:34] Niko is not exactly like he can find an injury this year.

[01:16:38] So yeah.

[01:16:39] Yeah.

[01:16:39] That's my,

[01:16:40] that's more my thinking of specifically who it is.

[01:16:43] I'm just thinking as well,

[01:16:44] like if we did play him and he got injured from like,

[01:16:48] from something dumb,

[01:16:48] we'd be thinking,

[01:16:49] why did we do it?

[01:16:50] So I think mostly I'm in that camp.

[01:16:52] I just,

[01:16:53] I would love him to get one or two runs.

[01:16:55] If you could get two games in,

[01:16:56] if you could play the week before,

[01:16:58] maybe if somehow he was fit,

[01:17:00] you definitely play him regardless.

[01:17:03] And then after that,

[01:17:04] yeah,

[01:17:04] I just,

[01:17:05] I'd love him to get a run.

[01:17:06] I mean,

[01:17:07] he,

[01:17:07] he,

[01:17:07] he did tell one of our colleagues that he'd be back in three weeks.

[01:17:12] And that was a week ago.

[01:17:13] So I,

[01:17:14] I think he was trending towards the Warriors game,

[01:17:17] but that's out of his mouth.

[01:17:19] That's not out of the coaching staff.

[01:17:20] That's not out of the medical.

[01:17:21] That's from him.

[01:17:22] So we'll see what happens.

[01:17:24] I,

[01:17:25] I kind of figured it'd be more like,

[01:17:27] yeah,

[01:17:27] week one of the finals.

[01:17:28] And then it's the whole,

[01:17:28] just chuck him in and go for it.

[01:17:30] Yeah.

[01:17:31] We will see what happens.

[01:17:32] Hey Josh,

[01:17:33] been a lot of fun talking to you midweek.

[01:17:34] It's,

[01:17:35] it's always good chatting to you about the mighty Cornelis Island sharks.

[01:17:39] Appreciate your time.

[01:17:40] Appreciate your friendship.

[01:17:41] We'll see you down at the game,

[01:17:42] which is going to be a lot of fun.

[01:17:44] I think most of the shark casters are going to be there in the house,

[01:17:47] which is exciting.

[01:17:48] I don't know about all,

[01:17:49] but most of them will be there.

[01:17:51] We might try and go for that team photo,

[01:17:53] which we haven't quite nailed yet,

[01:17:54] but we'll see.

[01:17:56] We'll see about that.

[01:17:57] But thanks everyone for tuning in.

[01:17:59] Thanks for watching.

[01:18:00] Thanks for listening.

[01:18:01] SharkCastPod at gmail.com.

[01:18:03] We're on the socials as our little banner says at SharkCastPod.

[01:18:08] Yeah.

[01:18:08] Above all,

[01:18:08] just appreciate you guys and girls for tuning in.

[01:18:11] Now,

[01:18:11] Josh,

[01:18:12] I'm thinking that myself,

[01:18:14] some of us,

[01:18:15] however we can do it,

[01:18:16] we might go live after the NRL game,

[01:18:20] depending on a few things,

[01:18:21] but if we can make it work with tech,

[01:18:23] if we can make it work with just logistics and with people,

[01:18:26] we might go live.

[01:18:28] Just stay tuned to our channels.

[01:18:30] If you subscribe to us on,

[01:18:32] on Facebook and on,

[01:18:34] what else I'm going to say?

[01:18:35] YouTube,

[01:18:36] especially it'll pop up.

[01:18:37] If we go live,

[01:18:39] if not,

[01:18:39] maybe just tune in,

[01:18:40] maybe,

[01:18:41] you know,

[01:18:41] 10,

[01:18:41] 15,

[01:18:41] 20 minutes after the game.

[01:18:43] And I'm thinking we might do that.

[01:18:45] We don't get to do it often.

[01:18:46] So if we do it,

[01:18:47] have a bit of fun and people can,

[01:18:49] can respond to what we're saying and have their own say,

[01:18:52] and maybe even jump on.

[01:18:53] We'll see.

[01:18:53] TBC,

[01:18:54] it's all TBC,

[01:18:54] but that's the plan.

[01:18:56] If everything works out,

[01:18:57] but anyway,

[01:18:58] we'll,

[01:18:58] we'll see how it goes.

[01:18:59] More importantly,

[01:19:00] have a great week,

[01:19:01] have a great time at the game and let's get the W.

[01:19:04] Josh,

[01:19:05] we will talk to you soon,

[01:19:05] my friend,

[01:19:06] and I will see you even sooner,

[01:19:08] which is very exciting.

[01:19:33] Shots forever.

[01:19:41] Now's the time to see good football for the Shots.

[01:19:45] Oh,
