[00:00:08] The Fiender tries to crack his way over in Dallas

[00:00:12] The Fiender dropped the ball over the line

[00:00:15] And all you people back in the Shire

[00:00:18] Tell you watch live time, cause we're coming over to trophy

[00:00:31] SharkCast

[00:00:46] Better be well, better watch your back

[00:00:50] Now is the time for a shark attack

[00:00:56] This is the team with all the rules

[00:00:59] Hey there, welcome to SharkCastPod. It's a shark attack. Look out here we come.

[00:01:24] SharkCastPod is here for another weekly flagship episode. My name is Sam Schnazzi and this show

[00:01:32] is brought to you by Dyson Logistics, the Royal Modyoq Club in Port Hacking and Jason

[00:01:35] Hawes at Crips & Crips Real Estate. That was a song from the early 90s called Here Come The Sharks.

[00:01:42] It's not the song we're after. We're after a different song but we appreciate everyone who

[00:01:45] sent that in. That was from Craig. Someone else sent it in. There's been a million messages

[00:01:49] about it. I know which song I want. I'm going to get it. It's called Shark Attack Attack Attack Attack

[00:01:54] from the late 80s but enough about that. It has been a huge day in Sharkland. None of us have slept.

[00:02:01] None of us have eaten. We have resorted to drinking and that is another story. It's not even a bad pun.

[00:02:07] I think I said my name Sam Schnazzi. I think that is my name. I think I am an OG from 2015.

[00:02:11] We're here to talk about all things Crenulla sharks and there's no one else I'd rather do

[00:02:16] with than my good friend and colleague Sharks, analyst and all-round top bloke

[00:02:23] Mr. Joshua Bolling. How are you my friend?

[00:02:26] Made just another quiet day in the world of rugby league I think. Nothing really to talk about

[00:02:30] I don't think. I think you're wrong. I think we've got plenty to talk about.

[00:02:35] And we're going to do it. We're going to do it as maturely and opinionated as we can without

[00:02:40] putting our foot into any legal issues but let's start with one of the two big pieces of news.

[00:02:48] And to be fair it's probably, well I don't know if it's the bigger one or not, but we're going to

[00:02:52] get into it. That is the retirement of Dale Finooken and at about nine o'clock this morning

[00:02:59] the press release came out saying sorry the statement came out saying there's going to be

[00:03:03] a press conference at midday about Dale Finooken and we kind of put two and two together.

[00:03:09] And after a 13 season career, co-captain of the Sharks Dale Finooken has today retired

[00:03:16] effective immediately. It's a medical retirement. He finished with 251 in our world games two

[00:03:22] premierships and a reputation as one of the toughest and hardest working players of his

[00:03:27] era. Both Dale and Craig Fitzgibbon had a press conference and stated he was medically

[00:03:34] advised to hang up the boots due to the history of head knocks. He was contracted until the end of 2025.

[00:03:44] Now Josh I did release the audio of the full press conference if you want to go listen to it

[00:03:49] you can also watch it of course on Sharks.com.au and Dave Rucchi and I discussed the retirement

[00:03:55] over about 10 minutes as well that's in a episode from before and it was a heavy start to the

[00:04:02] day and I want to talk about that first and foremost medically retired Josh what do you think?

[00:04:09] Yeah I mean kind of came out of the blue but I guess in hindsight the the evidence was there

[00:04:14] that something like this may have been coming. First and foremost congratulations to Dale on a

[00:04:19] wonderful career, a player that I've always respected and admired and when the news came

[00:04:25] out that we were signing him I was ecstatic. I played a lot of good games for the Sharks

[00:04:29] probably at the back end of his career not the best of him but tell you what he gave us absolutely

[00:04:35] all he had and raised the standards of the club, the training, the culture I know we hate that word

[00:04:40] here but just a and I think the best compliment you can have is a very good person and a bloody

[00:04:47] good rugby league player as well. Yeah and when you listen or watch the press conference you can

[00:04:51] see that and he says it himself he's quite still rattled by the decision. He used the term

[00:04:57] what did he say? No stone was left unturned in his desire to keep playing that's how much he wanted

[00:05:05] it which is really admirable and the other admirable thing is that he realized he couldn't do it.

[00:05:10] He did his research, took his time, got advice from a lot of different people he said and

[00:05:15] unfortunately for him his time was up. It's a great move because you don't want to mess

[00:05:19] around with that stuff there's already been a number of concussions and who knows what that'll

[00:05:24] lead to in the future hopefully nothing but any more could be quite disastrous so a brave move,

[00:05:32] sensible move he will stick around at the club there's nothing official there but you can

[00:05:37] put it at 95% chance he's going to stick around at the club they've had initial talks but again

[00:05:41] it's early days. He'll be in and around the team this year that's for sure he's not going to be

[00:05:46] leaving anytime soon. Having been down there Josh privilege be down there other players were

[00:05:53] in a pretty somber mood they'd only found out I've been an hour before the press conference some

[00:05:58] knew because of people online talking about it and journalists going off and that kind of stuff which

[00:06:04] he spoke about briefly and said he was disappointed that's how it got out. That's the world we're

[00:06:09] living in I don't know what he can do about that but I respect what he's saying completely.

[00:06:13] The big takeaway from me Josh was the way the club handled it and the way that he spoke about

[00:06:19] the way the club handled it Craig Fitzgibbon went round to his house to discuss it with him and

[00:06:26] his family his wife in particular reassuring them about there's no hurry to come back get all the

[00:06:32] tests done get the research done and it showed me again that we're in really good hands not

[00:06:39] only with him but with his team and that was my other big takeaway being down there the staff

[00:06:45] were pretty affected by it you know one of their own was hanging up the boots and I think there was

[00:06:50] a bit of relief there for some of them because they knew what was going on and maybe he knew and

[00:06:55] he didn't want to admit it but absolute warrior absolute I think what did Craig call him Craig

[00:07:01] Fitzgibbon call him a savage yeah he did and I looked at Dale when he said that he didn't

[00:07:06] even flinch I was like okay but I understand what he's saying it's just an unusual term but

[00:07:12] that's what's going on they're still working out the details about contracts what it means because he

[00:07:18] had a year and a half to go whether it means the sharks get the cap for next year only or whether

[00:07:26] it's a from now they're working all that stuff out with the NRL but there is going to be some

[00:07:32] relief there in the cap and I do want to point out that his decision has absolutely nothing to

[00:07:37] do with the club of the salary cap and signing Jack Williams again etc etc like we'd like to think oh

[00:07:46] maybe he took one for the team he didn't and you can see that in the press conference he would do

[00:07:51] anything to keep playing so whilst there will be some relief for the cap and we will address that

[00:07:56] this is all about Dale Finucan and his health and that's the only reason he's stopping

[00:08:01] and you can see it he just doesn't want to stop so there's a certain sort of sadness there I

[00:08:05] reckon but an amazing career done at all yep uh representative state uh two premierships 250 games

[00:08:15] and to have the respect of you'd say the entire rugby league community you can't buy that sort

[00:08:20] of thing the way that all the players came in and you know were there for him when he probably

[00:08:25] needed them and his family was there they came in on day off yeah yeah the way his coach speaks

[00:08:31] about him and you see now even people in the media on on twitter and you know the 360 everything just

[00:08:38] everyone only had glowing things to say about him and we were very lucky to have him and it's sad

[00:08:43] because you hate to see players careers taken out of their hands yeah and I think I think he will in

[00:08:50] time be happy with his decision but he's got a long life to live yeah and you know another 20

[00:08:56] games in the NRL was that worth you know potentially the damage that he could do to himself

[00:09:00] he doesn't have to prove anything to anyone yeah there can't be any regrets because

[00:09:05] he's made the right call now he'll whether he realizes that now or in a week or in a year

[00:09:11] he will realize that I don't think that's the problem I think the problem for him is just

[00:09:16] he physically just wants it letting go yeah so no doubt he'll go through a you know a process

[00:09:23] of working out what he's going to be doing from now on and how he's going to live his life

[00:09:27] and that kind of thing but yeah there's no regrets because it's completely the right decision

[00:09:31] and I think he was asked about should he've made this call earlier and he was sort of saying that

[00:09:37] the concussions weren't as bad and he had a few reasons as to why not and that's his business

[00:09:41] no one else's but it seemed like this was the right time so we do respect the hell out of him

[00:09:46] on the show he's been really cool to ask he's always been kind of talk to us we talk

[00:09:49] about music and and footy and even just when I see him down at the cafe and that kind of

[00:09:54] thing he's always first one say hello and shake your hand and and you'll see him around he's yeah

[00:09:59] he's not going anywhere I hope that the team kind of lifts around him and does it for him and

[00:10:04] and I you know there's always that talk of like let's do it for Dale it's like no no I don't

[00:10:08] you know do it for you it's like no we'll do it for you there's no reason there's nothing

[00:10:11] wrong with doing it for someone you know like do it for yourselves but do it for Dale as well

[00:10:15] the whole thing about the the culture and what he's brought to the club which

[00:10:19] he's spoken about more than his football is very evident Dave Riccio who was talking to him

[00:10:25] on the last episode about today he mentioned a Ronaldo interview recently and he said that guy

[00:10:31] changed my life the way that he does things the structure the intensity and you can see it in

[00:10:37] Ronaldo's football and he's that's his main inspiration and there's a whole list of guys

[00:10:42] there especially the forwards who just are that into what he does so that can never be underestimated

[00:10:49] the effect he came with the coach coming in and with Nico that's what got us back to the top of

[00:10:54] the ladder it wasn't just the coach or just Nico Heinz and he's Dalian Mugir like it was

[00:11:01] McInnes was all of them together but Dale is a massive part of that I think sometimes because

[00:11:06] he hasn't been playing much and when he's been playing he hasn't been lights out

[00:11:10] I think people kind of minimise that and I'm not maximising it now because he's retired

[00:11:15] it's more just it's in the middle it's like he's he's been a constant life heartbeat of this team

[00:11:21] since he came here and I was very excited when he signed on and I hadn't put a line through him

[00:11:27] for the rest of the year before all this went down people talking about what are you going to

[00:11:29] do it's like you don't put a line through that guy now we can because he's done it himself

[00:11:34] but yeah it's been a weird day dude and it gets weirder of course which we'll get into really

[00:11:39] shortly but are any final thoughts on Dale for the moment no I mean I just I wish him well in

[00:11:44] life and I hope he sticks around I'd love to I'd love to have him as a trainer running out there

[00:11:49] barking orders I'd love to see him do that but maybe that's not for him but I want him at the club

[00:11:53] he's just he's too good of a man and invaluable to a football club wherever he may end up

[00:12:01] well said that leads us to the other news of the day which you've all heard about

[00:12:05] and that involves 5 8th Braden Trindle there were rumors about this going around from

[00:12:11] this morning and it was made public around two o'clock so Braden has been charged by the police

[00:12:17] allegedly failing a roadside alcohol and drug tests on Monday morning Trindle celebrated the

[00:12:23] shark's win over the Cowboys on Sunday night attending a gathering with teammates at the

[00:12:28] apartment of Toby Rudolph Trindle left the apartment at midnight continued to celebrate

[00:12:33] with friends he's assured shark's officials no players were with him after leaving Toby Rudolph's

[00:12:40] place at 9 45 on Monday on his way to training Trindle was stopped by police and recorded a

[00:12:47] mid-range alcohol reading of 0.125 and a positive test for an illicit substance

[00:12:55] he was charged with mid-range drink driving holding an expired license

[00:13:01] so not suspended but expired and he's awaiting further test results on an alleged positive

[00:13:08] drug reading uh he's going to appear at Sutherland Court on May 17th a quote from

[00:13:15] the police 24 year old was driving on Captain Hook Drive about 9 45 on Monday stopped by

[00:13:21] officers for a random breath test the man produced an expired license we've told you

[00:13:27] the rest of that the sharks notified the NRL integrity unit immediately he was stood down

[00:13:35] by the club Josh yesterday Monday after they dealt with him told the NRL straight away

[00:13:43] and they may be announcement 24 hours later he wasn't at the Dalfernick and goodbye

[00:13:50] he was he was stood down as I said and he'll be stood down until further notice

[00:13:55] yeah not fun times very disappointing it is a bit of a legal matter so we're gonna talk about it

[00:14:02] openly but we've got to be careful about what we say at certain times what I just read was from

[00:14:08] news story that's out there so that's not my words that was a news story

[00:14:12] but what are your thoughts Josh aside from obviously disappointing and and shocking somewhat

[00:14:17] but uh what what are your thoughts it's been a bit of a roller coaster day for sharks fans

[00:14:21] everywhere I'm sure they can all everyone can imagine to go from the daily news to then

[00:14:26] this trindle thing coming through and obviously very disappointed for him and at him it's not

[00:14:34] something I think any of us want our players representing what the club stands for it's

[00:14:40] hard to speak without being you know too judgmental because you know he's he's his own man and

[00:14:45] I'm not here to jam cast judgment especially on things that you know need to go through

[00:14:49] the courts but I stressed myself out about it a little bit at work I was finding it hard to

[00:14:53] concentrate and for trying to follow the story and you know chatting to the group and

[00:14:57] something I wanted to say to everyone listening is that at the end of the day this is a football

[00:15:02] club and we can't as much as we want to we can't let it affect our lives and yeah you know

[00:15:07] this is a young man who's you know clearly made a mistake and then we just need to let that

[00:15:12] play out in the courts and with all the information to come out so just yeah just

[00:15:17] overall really is the point because he the worst part is he's let the fans down the club

[00:15:22] and his teammates down and I think it would have really hurt him that he wasn't there today for

[00:15:26] Dale as a team member and to probably take a bit of the shine off what we're supposed to be you

[00:15:31] know a somber but celebratory day for his co-captain not a great day. Yeah now that's

[00:15:36] that's well said and I mean a lot of what has been stated is factual it's more just

[00:15:44] there are some things that are still to be proven and that kind of thing but it can't be denied

[00:15:49] that he was pulled over for random alcohol tests and he was over the limit so that's

[00:15:54] a no-no in anyone's book and that's for me the most disappointing thing and again I'm not here

[00:15:59] gonna talk about what kind of a human he is. It's not my business but also

[00:16:07] the interactions I've had with him I wouldn't claim to know him you know I've had

[00:16:12] some time with him and I wouldn't have said he was going to go do all this stuff but

[00:16:17] yeah so I'm not gonna either like you I'm not gonna judge him but I will say that

[00:16:22] you know drink driving is ridiculous in this day and age any day and age but now with everything

[00:16:27] we know everything we've seen I was gonna say like last week Josh friend of mine good friend of

[00:16:34] mine for like 20-25 years lives in America came back to Australia for his birthday and a whole

[00:16:40] bunch of stuff and we've got a little crew we're actually in a band we're in a band called the Sweet

[00:16:43] Gypsies there's four of us the band never played a gig but we hung out we made some recordings

[00:16:49] we were good friends before all that and after that we were most known for just

[00:16:52] sit around drinking whiskey and playing country music before it was cool. Last week we got to

[00:16:57] do that for the first time in 15-20 years together and driving in to meet them I was

[00:17:04] what am I doing our thing is drinking why am I driving and I thought about turning back thought

[00:17:10] about getting an Uber and I just went oh no I'm just gonna have to go and control myself and

[00:17:15] this again this is not a judgmental thing and this is not about me I just I guess I'm just

[00:17:19] kind of emoting and whatever and saying that I'm really disappointed in him because I had the

[00:17:23] kind of smarts to go I'm going to see my friend I'll have a beer every hour and I'll be fine

[00:17:30] and I was and I left and we were fine everyone's fine he didn't do that and it sucks sorry if

[00:17:35] that was long-winded but the drink driving thing there's no excuses there is there is zero he could

[00:17:41] have hurt a lot of people he could have hurt himself thank god he didn't the rest of it is for

[00:17:46] other people to judge other people to rule on we'll see what happens there it's going to

[00:17:51] affect us for the next couple of months we're not sure how long for I believe that

[00:17:58] the NRL won't come in until his court date which is until mid-May so at this stage till we find

[00:18:04] that anymore I'm led to believe he'd be stood down and then they'll come in and go you're

[00:18:08] going to miss this amount of weeks and they'll backdate that I hope but we don't know how long

[00:18:12] it's going to be because a mid-range drink driving on its own would be at least two weeks

[00:18:17] expired license I mean that's not good but it's also not crime of the century I don't know

[00:18:24] if you miss time for that maybe you do maybe you don't if he fails the second drug test

[00:18:31] that could be a bit of a pickle and we're not talking a year or anything I don't think

[00:18:36] but it's going to add to the two three weeks he was going to have anyway

[00:18:40] he's going to have to do some counselling he's going to which is good for him but

[00:18:44] it's not good we are here to talk about football from a footballing point of view

[00:18:48] it plain sucks yeah it just takes a little bit of the shine off what we've been doing on the

[00:18:53] field and off the field but mostly the way he's been playing I think that's what hurts me the most

[00:18:59] is that I've been such a big fan of his for so long and wanting to see him get this opportunity

[00:19:04] he takes it he's playing well building that combination with first on a ladder and then

[00:19:09] this happens and it's just like man like how much does this mean to you like does this career

[00:19:16] and this lifestyle and being a footballer so on that Josh like I completely agree with

[00:19:21] what you're saying and so a valid question but I think that's the other end of what we're talking

[00:19:27] about where we're like we're not going to judge him it's like I think it means the world to me

[00:19:32] but I also think he mucked up majorly yeah like I think there can be both things

[00:19:37] I don't think he's just sitting there going I'm the king of the castle I'm going to do what I

[00:19:40] want and I'm going to drive drunk and whatever well I don't know that for a fact but I get

[00:19:45] the feeling it means everything to him and he's mucked up channel 9 did a promo on him it was

[00:19:51] five ten minutes talking about how how was the kid this is on Sunday for the Sunday game

[00:19:55] as a kid he went to I want to say well definitely another part of where he was living like living

[00:20:01] far away from his family to get to a place where he could play league at a higher level it was

[00:20:06] super hard for him and his family wanted to come home his mom wanted to come home this whole

[00:20:11] thing and he stuck it out and he's been on his own not when I sat on his own he was

[00:20:15] living with families and that kind of stuff looked after but he's been wanting this since he was

[00:20:21] a young man like a like a preteen yeah and that's been his journey a bit of sweet to see this amazing

[00:20:29] piece on him and what it meant to him and his family and his friends and his teammates and then

[00:20:34] within 12 hours he's mucked it up yeah and he's probably on channel nine for the wrong reasons

[00:20:40] but I might dispute that what does it mean to you like I completely know why you're saying it

[00:20:45] but I think that I would like to think it means a lot to him and he's just done the wrong thing and

[00:20:52] we won't know the answer to that until he comes back and what he's like and if he does it again if

[00:20:57] he does it again yeah then we know what it means to you if he doesn't do it again

[00:21:03] now I'm not excusing this at all if anyone's thinking that I'm not excusing any of the

[00:21:06] behaviour any of the actions I'm just trying not to sell him down the river just yet

[00:21:13] yeah and I think I've been trying to do that today too and maybe it is my bias in the fact that

[00:21:18] I've been a massive fan for a long time but you know it's just I don't want to make excuses

[00:21:25] so preface up and say now he's a kid he's a 24 year old kid well that's debatable what you

[00:21:31] just said he's a kid and he's 24 year old kid probably putting myself in this in this scenario

[00:21:37] when I was 24 I made mistakes I wasn't perfect and I'm sure everyone here and everyone listening

[00:21:42] Cameron Webb look at the size of that mosquito that's a big mosquito Cameron we need you SOS

[00:21:47] I guess I just put my when I was 24 would I be where I am now as a 31 would I be making

[00:21:53] the same mistakes then no I wouldn't I didn't make those kind of mistakes no but you know no one's

[00:21:59] perfect and I know and that's not an excuse but you know sometimes these hardships in life can

[00:22:04] make you a better man or woman I'm with you on all that I just we can't say he's just a kid

[00:22:10] especially when I told you that he's been living at home since he was 12 and he's had all his

[00:22:14] experiences and he should know about he should definitely know better of course yeah of course

[00:22:18] so okay yeah maybe the kid's the wrong term but he's 24 24 year old man who he needs to be better

[00:22:26] it needs to be more accountable so I hope I hope we can if this is the thing that turns that

[00:22:31] around and and switch the focus and it might be the best thing for him so yeah until anymore

[00:22:38] comes out at this point in time I personally am happy to give him another go yes me too

[00:22:46] and I know there's people out there who dispute that match your opinion and you go for it and I'm

[00:22:49] not going to argue with you but my my view is dude you've let us down come back and make up for

[00:22:58] it you know and if we can jag some wins along the way awesome and we don't know how

[00:23:04] long he's going to be out for that's the big asterix if it's a month of footy it's not the end of the

[00:23:11] world if it's two months of footy we need to kind of hope that guys are going to step up the way

[00:23:19] that we think they're going to step all hope they're going to step up so like he's he's well

[00:23:22] loved down at the club yeah I think same a positive out of this is that it opens up an opportunity

[00:23:30] for someone else it does and there's a few guys there in the in the works who could fill in at the

[00:23:35] moment there's only one and that's Atkinson who's been named to play at number six he's been in

[00:23:41] around the team for a couple of years showed promise in a lot of different positions I did talk with

[00:23:46] people at the club today and they're very much of the belief that he's the guy to do it

[00:23:52] currently they believe in him they're not just throwing anyone in that they've chosen him as

[00:23:58] the guy whether it remains that way if trindles out for a long time I don't know I can only imagine

[00:24:04] if he's solid or better then he will stay there if he's not they'll look to do something else but

[00:24:09] they believe in him there's been a big push from other people about k dykes but what we

[00:24:15] know about k dykes is he's not physically ready for nl rel to play in that position he

[00:24:21] could probably play off the bench potentially another position or two but at the moment five

[00:24:26] eight with that defense running at you at the moment post recovery from his year off

[00:24:34] he's not ready and that's coming from really good sources within the club if k dykes was ready he'd

[00:24:42] probably get the gig and that's how the coaches roll like the coaches the coaches believe in k

[00:24:47] dykes more than anyone on this universe including k dykes so it's not some sort of agenda to

[00:24:54] keep him out he's just not ready and it sucks and he will get there i don't know when but he'll get

[00:25:00] there and he'll be great but at the moment with all the options we have atkinson was the best one

[00:25:06] and and they do believe in him like i was talking to a few different people today josh and they have

[00:25:13] high expectations for him this week and i guess we'll find out what happens with uh with trindle

[00:25:17] moving forward but i i think yeah i think does that sound right to you he won't he probably

[00:25:22] won't be able to play until the court date i would imagine so unless they have that no fault

[00:25:28] stand down policy do they still have that that might be a thing we maybe can come back and train

[00:25:32] until then but maybe it's best for him to stay away for a little bit and well the training

[00:25:37] thing i'm not sure about but as far as playing because it's a criminal matter yeah i don't know i

[00:25:43] mean it's pretty murky these days it's a bit up in the air it goes from player to player

[00:25:47] situation to situation but he's stood down the court case is mid-may so it's a major bummer

[00:25:54] i really hope that uh mentally he's doing okay yeah you know i i sincerely mean that

[00:26:01] and i'll just state this in case it hasn't been said on the show i think he's a really great

[00:26:07] player i'm not on tricky island like you have been like i he's not like a fan favorite for me

[00:26:12] and i'll say anything about him just to keep him in the good books it's like

[00:26:16] i really like what he's done i love his story he's been really good this year

[00:26:19] he's been really good in first grade to be fair whenever he's played starting and i think that

[00:26:25] the combination with mico start in the gel and i really want to be part of this team

[00:26:30] but aside from all that i do hope that mentally he's okay because not a kid but a young guy

[00:26:38] tonight with the world the world's weight on his shoulders i have no doubt

[00:26:42] that that is how he feels i think the club would have handled it in a stern but fair way

[00:26:51] fly on the wall though you know they would have let him know how he feels which is completely

[00:26:56] fair but i just hope there's not outside noise now coming into him about the situation because

[00:27:01] he needs to get it together for himself first and then hopefully for his career and club but

[00:27:06] uh i don't know there's not much more we can say about that really josh i mean i'm happy for

[00:27:10] you to take the lead but i'm happy to leave it there like i would just want to echo your

[00:27:14] sentiments so first of all he's a human being who's made a really bad mistake i hope he's okay and i hope

[00:27:20] people just lay off him and take the time he needs to be sad and feel sorry for himself and

[00:27:25] then get it together and come back a better person i don't think that he should be free of

[00:27:29] criticism but that can cross a line so easily yeah and i think i know that's what you kind of

[00:27:35] mean it's done now he's got to deal with it we're already dealing what we've named a team we've

[00:27:42] gonna train tomorrow and they're going down to camber to win i think it'll be in the new cycle

[00:27:47] for a little bit more but i don't think it's going to hang around until the court case comes up

[00:27:52] then it'll be mentioned again then we'll go from there if you have any thoughts on anything

[00:27:56] to do with thail or trindle let us know we'll read it out in the coming episodes but uh

[00:28:01] hopefully we've got our point across in a fair way uh in an honest way and again

[00:28:09] josh and i are not defending trindle in any way we're not defending these actions that's for sure

[00:28:15] it's more just about waiting and seeing the complete not truth but the complete the full

[00:28:21] story full story and then we can sort of judge that maybe once we know everything but

[00:28:28] yeah it's just it's a bummer it's a major bummer dude it's been a bummer of a day because the

[00:28:33] dayl thing is like you're happy because he's gonna have a healthy outcome from this as far as we know

[00:28:42] like there's not going to be any more concussions beautiful he's gonna stick around the club and

[00:28:47] let's all just say it they're gonna resign jack liam's it's gonna happen and you can thank him

[00:28:53] for it but it's a bummer the whole thing is a bummer and then this is a different sort of negativity

[00:29:02] so in case we didn't make it clear we are not defending trindle it's more just about

[00:29:07] i really don't want to hang the guy no need to do i there are some things that and this is

[00:29:12] getting a bit murky but there are some things where you can say yeah i do want to do that to

[00:29:17] someone but in this case for me personally the biggest bummer is he's not going to be our

[00:29:21] five eighth that's my opinion aside from as i said already the drink driving thing so

[00:29:27] we'll move on to the bright news that is lower grades and i can tell you josh joseph leg sharks

[00:29:34] won 30 to 10 over manly at shark park it was the game before the nrl game they now face cambra

[00:29:41] on sunday before the nrl game down there liam is it eason i'm never sure how to pronounce

[00:29:48] it he is going to be playing as well as michael gabarral and dylan kouts three really talented guys

[00:29:55] who you'll be hearing about in the future there was great nrl w news which is not around the corner

[00:30:01] but it'll come around soon enough and that is that the tri-scoring machine prop ellie johnston

[00:30:07] has signed until the end of 2026 the 23 year old was under contract but has been signed for

[00:30:15] further years which is great news uh the newtown shark jets continue to struggle they lost 1410 to

[00:30:21] manly at henson back-to-back losses are in eighth place the next game is at 140 to be played before

[00:30:30] the nrl game i think i said the flake was playing it must be earlier in the day the flake are

[00:30:34] playing new shark jets are playing before the nrl game you got k-dites at fullback

[00:30:40] chris failer at center sam stone street on the wing moenie harotti and new y paru in the halves what

[00:30:47] about these props roice and tuku starting props well yeah billy burns the back row sam hillan bench

[00:30:54] so good team that's what's going on we're gonna have a quick break and when we come back we're

[00:31:00] gonna talk a bit about the cowboys game where there was a lot of happiness we can get happy

[00:31:04] about that uh the shark ass pod with josh bolling and sam shanazi back after this short sharp break

[00:31:50] dyson logistics service delivered

[00:32:05] welcome back to shark cast pod brought to you by dyson logistics the real money your club

[00:32:09] in port hacking and jason hoars at creeps and creeps real estate josh uh to paint a picture for everyone

[00:32:16] we have had and still have a lot to talk about tonight but when you got here we chatted for like

[00:32:22] a while and even though i said we'd be gone for a short break in reality we're chatting a lot

[00:32:28] but now we're back to chat about the cowboys win uh sharks sit in first place up to seven rounds

[00:32:33] five wins one loss one buy first and the latter in consecutive weeks the first time since

[00:32:39] round 15 to 21 in 2016 nicoe hyan six try assist in his past three games three last week

[00:32:45] against the cowboys uh a thoroughly dominating win by the sharks tell me what you thought about

[00:32:53] the game i loved it i was unfortunately mildly hung over on sunday so i did not get to go down and see

[00:33:00] see the game but i've watched it several times loved it one of my favorite games

[00:33:04] of the year really comprehensive performance i thought um everyone to a man was excellent

[00:33:10] i thought our backs were absolutely outstanding carried us for the meters i mean look uh looking

[00:33:17] at something like kaila euro man 192 meters 23 runs yeah like come on that's awesome uh jessie ramiyan

[00:33:26] was really hasn't been getting the plaudits issue that i think he deserves he was immense on on the

[00:33:30] weekend just some of his carries with such running with such venom we've got a letter

[00:33:34] about that that will blow your mind okay okay it was nice to see a local junior scoring on debut in

[00:33:41] the corner with all his mates like i got off my couch and we're just jumping in the air hung over

[00:33:47] and you have your ice pack on your head yeah just like clapping and smiling and just like those are

[00:33:53] the moments you live for as a footy fan yeah so i was with clinton and with kieran up in the upper

[00:33:58] 18 and you can see it coming in slow motion yeah and it felt like slow motion we all sort of stood

[00:34:03] up as one and it was a real moment like i had proper chills just in the reaction afterwards and

[00:34:10] yeah the fact that he's family and friends were in that corner and the whole crowd was just loving

[00:34:15] it yeah he was he was really good uh halves were great bit of sweet to talk about but the halves

[00:34:20] were great nico played a really really great traditional halfbacks game and i think he's been

[00:34:27] doing i think that's why he's been a little underappreciated this year with he's changed his

[00:34:31] style a little bit and he's you know it was the all-star nico last year with the tri assist and

[00:34:36] the tri's and all that but he's playing a real dominant clinical halfbacks game at the moment

[00:34:42] the kicking and the the goal kicking the setting up plays running when he needs to like

[00:34:47] goal kicking oh my god as he when was the last time he missed a goal like just that wasn't on

[00:34:52] the weekend no so it's seven out of seven but most of those from the sideline again like we

[00:34:56] don't give him any easy ones and how can we not talk about ronald a militale again just i'm he's the

[00:35:02] best winger in the comp at the moment for mine by pound for pound like toto run meters amazing

[00:35:09] what's the Xavier coats yeah incredible but ronald is just the full package man at the moment he's

[00:35:14] doing it all yeah yeah i mean who stood out for you over the weekend i haven't had too much time

[00:35:19] to talk to you about it oh definitely ronaldo will kennedy won me uh paul green medal and

[00:35:25] he was great from his best game of the year start to finish he was great i thought ronaldo was again

[00:35:31] a standout in the way he just did things i love both halves i thought trindall was great thought

[00:35:36] heins was great thord pack was was fantastic again for me the bench was just phenomenal

[00:35:42] williams rudoff talakai and hamlin welly who i think should get extra mention first game of the

[00:35:47] year first game since we're in six months or so great and ran for 111 meters with 11 runs six

[00:35:54] tackles in 22 minutes and and look like he could do a bit more so i'm looking forward to him playing

[00:35:59] more and more as the weeks go on and as you said it was just a 17 man effort like everyone did

[00:36:06] something no one was negative there's no negativity there and there are people that

[00:36:13] you need to call out like stone street in his debut he was battered from pillar to post and

[00:36:17] tackles and he got up and he scored tries and he caught bombs kaly roe holds on to that jersey

[00:36:24] and rightly so oregon kafusi he was really good 117 meters it's pretty good for oregon he was

[00:36:29] really good i was really impressed with his stint blake braily setting up tries so if they

[00:36:37] continue to play as a team like that even missing their five eight for a while they're going to be

[00:36:43] hard to beat the one thing i cannot stop talking about is 37 of 41 the sets ridiculous oh we were

[00:36:51] that's better than grand final right yeah i mean that first half we only made our first error

[00:36:56] about two minutes four half time like 17 out 17 you do that you win you win in melbourne you

[00:37:02] beat penn rithard home like i'm not saying it's uh gonna be easy to do that every week but

[00:37:06] that's got to be what they aspire to do because it's very different to go from 37 of 41 to sometimes

[00:37:13] there i don't know 25 out of 41 like it's just it's a different what do you think that is

[00:37:18] what do you think we did differently on the weekend did you see anything we did differently

[00:37:21] they played with a lot of energy they did and and usually you'd think you're the more upbeat

[00:37:25] you are the more mistakes but they're just all clicked uh the energy was there the entire

[00:37:30] match watching it live there was no doubt in my mind they'll get them in that game once

[00:37:35] they run out and when i saw what was happening and uh the warm-up was really cool there's a lot of

[00:37:40] energy in the warm-up from that they they carried that on 20 minutes later in the game and look to

[00:37:47] be fair the cowboys were rubbish they weren't good you know and we can talk about them being

[00:37:52] in the top eight we can talk about them having rep players whatever they were garbage i'm sorry

[00:37:58] to anyone listening who likes the cowboys but they were garbage two years in a row now for us

[00:38:03] at that stadium it was the same last year daters didn't turn up now whether that's a

[00:38:09] one-off thing for them that day they were just not in the mood or whether it's a deeper thing it

[00:38:14] looked like a deeper thing to me yeah i don't care i don't got no care for the cowboys but

[00:38:19] the flip side is you can only play who you can play and we absolutely wiped the floor with

[00:38:23] them it wasn't a four point win it wasn't an eight point win they won by a whole bunch

[00:38:27] and they never look like losing and they probably should have scored more do you think it's a

[00:38:33] do you think this has been a personal thing that we've we've really held on to a grudge about what

[00:38:37] they did to us in that final game i'd like to think so i don't i don't i don't know if it equates

[00:38:43] to that i don't know if they talk about that anymore about who it was it was more about the

[00:38:49] fact that what they did themselves it's got to mean something there is i think now the

[00:38:54] poor green factor is something like you can see that with the players uh you can see that with

[00:38:59] the way they interact with the family and i know fitzy does put in a lot of time emphasizing history

[00:39:07] and relevance and that kind of thing so i think it's become a bit of a sort of garage match it's

[00:39:13] just a match they probably look forward to playing yeah whether it's the finals thing or not i don't

[00:39:17] know i mean i had a bit of a bit of bad flashbacks going down there even though we got the job

[00:39:22] done last year twice but we've smashed them every time since that day here we have there could

[00:39:26] be something in it they were really not very good i think the shark has boys could have gone out there

[00:39:30] and done like seriously like they there was no physicality uh nothing was sticking the passes

[00:39:36] were rushed kicking game not great uh i thought that ironically one of the few guys having a dig

[00:39:44] was the number seven it was it was off it was off big time he was one of their better ones

[00:39:49] but he was putting in but yeah i think they got some deep issues man yeah i mean i've got

[00:39:54] some issues with tamalola i know this is not a cowboy's podcast but just if i could rip on them

[00:39:58] for a second tamalolo had what i think he had three runs for 23 meters he's not getting played

[00:40:05] his knees are shot and he's on a million dollars a season i didn't know it was that bad but uh

[00:40:09] yeah it's a lesson don't don't sign up proper ten years it's a lesson the knees will go when

[00:40:13] you play like that that style and he steps and he's got that weight coming through it will

[00:40:16] catch up with you you can sign deletion evidence for 10 years that's okay you can sign

[00:40:22] nico hines for six years that's okay yep you can't sign a prop for that long it goes a lot quicker

[00:40:28] for the props and it does the halves in the backs i mean maybe if they'd signed him for 10 years when

[00:40:33] he was 17 sure he was like 27 when he signed that contract or 26 no he was he was mid 20s when he

[00:40:39] did that this is not a cowboy's podcast no but sucked in i hate the cowboys sorry i hate the

[00:40:44] cowboys never forgive him for that day what about the sharks we're okay i'm biased make some tackles

[00:40:52] dudes yeah that was the game fun atmosphere down there a few people have written in about that

[00:40:57] which we'll get into in the letter section but yeah it was uh it was a good one joshy we missed you

[00:41:01] out there it was good uh we met a lot of listeners which was awesome i think uh and we'll talk

[00:41:07] about them the letters i think but i think they're slowly really starting to improve that place

[00:41:10] the vibe was the best it's been a long time so it's been fun every time i've been down there feel

[00:41:15] just a little different feeling like i don't know i can't quite quantify but it just feels different

[00:41:20] down there maybe it's because the team's playing well and that you know yeah can code over some things

[00:41:24] but just feels a bit more fun and the lines aren't as long get through the toilet take is easy and

[00:41:30] getting home they in and out it's not too bad like it's just it's a fun time to be sharks

[00:41:34] fam besides today not fun not fun at all everything's ruined no i'm kidding it's not ruined it is a fun

[00:41:43] time because in the old days this would have ruined your season it would have put a line through you

[00:41:48] in the old days you would have been in front page news and i think i think the fact that it's not

[00:41:54] as big a news day is because they did the finnican thing which was let's face it a little bit

[00:42:00] strategic but also there's been a lot of good will there with the sharks for the last probably five

[00:42:06] years you know bomber came in everyone like bomber fitzy came in everyone like fitzy the worst thing

[00:42:13] we had in that time was a player who didn't want to play and soaked on the sideline for the pre-season

[00:42:18] there wasn't much else really aside from the sherry thing again individual makes an error

[00:42:24] on so i think there's been a good will there from the media to the club how long that lasts

[00:42:31] i don't know maybe tomorrow morning i look silly for saying that but hopefully they cover it just

[00:42:36] factually it's you know that's what we want that's fine tell the facts and we've been pretty good

[00:42:41] off with off field discretion i've got to say we've been i wouldn't say lucky but we haven't

[00:42:44] had much going on and a lot of teams have had more than one two or three issues i think

[00:42:49] they've been good yeah so they've been pretty good and again yeah i wouldn't want to get back

[00:42:52] into it i think that is the other issue which which isn't discussed about that much but

[00:42:58] you know it's going to affect things like corporate deals it's going to affect some business stuff

[00:43:06] and i'm not saying that it will cost them one dollar but if you're sponsoring the sharks

[00:43:12] and all of a sudden they're in the news because player drinks drives gets caught

[00:43:16] fails drug test initially yada yada yada well maybe you're like i'll go to the melbourne storm

[00:43:23] where that doesn't happen yeah here's my money so there is potential for that kind of thing and i

[00:43:27] know that the club really values that side of thing and the players they do an amazing job

[00:43:33] representing the club and it even under fits given there's a bit of a rule like don't

[00:43:38] don't do that stuff yeah and this guy did that stuff so it's a pickle that's for sure

[00:43:44] let's have a quick break we'll come back into the letters from our great listeners this is

[00:43:48] shut cast pod just handing out a position to canola in good field position now right on the halfway

[00:43:57] hitting house and and green laying it on the peaches into the face

[00:44:02] they're not going to get in the yank fullback scores for the shark

[00:44:07] we are back on shark house pod we are brought to you by dyson logistics we are brought to you by

[00:44:20] jason hawse at kripsen kripsville estate but what we want to tell you about is our friends of the

[00:44:24] royal mody yacht club in port hacking josh and i love going down there to have a meal at the galley

[00:44:29] it's a new restaurant type of vibe food situation eatery a place we can go eat some food a new

[00:44:37] chef new staff amazing menu and it's the best location in the shire on the water cruisy as everyone's

[00:44:45] welcome they show the footy it's family friendly and we love going to the royal mody yacht club

[00:44:51] in port hacking i've got a feeling we might get in there soon josh put a tbc on that but we

[00:44:56] might make arrangements for that but we do want to give him a shout out we love those guys and

[00:45:00] girls down there just remember there's no free garlic bread sorry about that baby all right

[00:45:06] i will buy some if i see you down there when we go in there i'm gonna wear like a heart

[00:45:11] novelty moustache different glasses you won't know it's me

[00:45:17] you look like sam shanah no no no me all right phil has written to us coming down from cloud nine

[00:45:23] on an awesome performance following the sharks since the late 70s this is up there he says shame

[00:45:30] we didn't see stone street in open space but happy for him and his family i dare say and this is from phil

[00:45:36] over 2016 feeling phil the fiery in queensland thanks phil for being in touch i hope you still

[00:45:43] have that feeling zack long time listener first time e-mailer where you been zack thanks for

[00:45:51] writing in thanks for listening he wants to say thanks for all we do with the potty it goes

[00:45:57] straight to the top of the queue whenever a new epp drops hey that's podcast talk thanks zack appreciate

[00:46:03] you he says what a win on sunday arvo hard to not get ahead of myself and think about a big september

[00:46:08] push haven't seen the club in this strong a position in a while living on the gold coast it's

[00:46:13] been a few years since i've been able to see the boys play up here but i'm excited to see them

[00:46:16] play later in the year and take my three-year-old to his first game thanks again for the

[00:46:21] entertainment and congrats on a great start to the season up up well zack about super kind

[00:46:26] we appreciate you listening appreciate you writing in don't be a stranger and you enjoy that titan's

[00:46:31] game with your son let's go get about w naphin says do we know any news if jack williams is

[00:46:37] staying at the sharks i think today's news will help matters big time naphin and i think that you

[00:46:45] will see him stay at the sharks there are other clubs after him he i believe josh he's

[00:46:53] gonna have another child soon he's a young family he loves the area he definitely wants to stay

[00:46:59] they want him to stay as rickie said on the earlier podcast today go have a listen to that but it's

[00:47:05] not like we're flush with funds particularly with they are leaving because the money next year in

[00:47:11] particular wasn't amazing money but i think they'll get it done so i think jack will stay and

[00:47:16] i think that'll be a great purchase uh kassie says seeing stone street score in the corner was a dream

[00:47:23] what a story a positive day out for my crew and i i loved the shark park experience on a sunday

[00:47:30] avo yeah me too that was awesome glad you had a good time thanks for writing in danie says what

[00:47:37] a perfect game of football to watch i can't think of a more complete performance in recent times

[00:47:42] every player did their job question or observation why isn't the eddinghausen stand stretched out

[00:47:49] along the stadium i feel it should go from trial line to trial line i tried purchasing a single seat

[00:47:56] membership and it was advised i'd have to go on a wait list as much as the latrines did an upgrade

[00:48:02] that's a fancy word for a toilet latrine i think the etstand needs an upgrade as well

[00:48:07] for the second week in a row the sharks ahead of the table that's from danie lee

[00:48:11] not the former player but our listeners anyway etstand end to end that's like old school paramount

[00:48:18] of stadium style did you get a paramount of stadium before they never went no i don't know why that is

[00:48:24] danie but i wouldn't wonder i mean it's a good what is it 20 to 20 or is it a bit shorter than that

[00:48:30] 30 to 30 top of my head i don't know but close to 20 to 20 maybe yeah 20 to 30 i don't know

[00:48:37] i mean we lose we lose my spot on the corner almost if that was the case yeah you'd have to

[00:48:41] become a member of the etstand yeah pay a few more pesos to sit there i like the idea i don't know why

[00:48:47] it didn't happen maybe this one to keep that vibe who knows i'm sure someone knows like the historian

[00:48:55] ash or rcb uh jim says after that performance i hope fits leaves the team as it is i love what

[00:49:02] our bench brings that's from jimmy from island island yeah jimmy's from island we are worldwide

[00:49:08] yeah you sound surprised i think it's like 36 countries we're in wow yeah yeah there's not much

[00:49:16] more to say steve says what a win against the cowboys i don't think any player had a bad game they all

[00:49:21] knew each other's role towards he i want to shout out jesse ramion an unsung hero in defense

[00:49:28] all eyes are currently on rinaldo and rightly so but with jesse we know what he brings in attack

[00:49:35] in defense he's won the battle against the following roger to avasa shek

[00:49:41] steven crutin ah hiccup against justin olem sebastian chris jack whiten valentino homes quality

[00:49:51] in top class opposition he's dominated his opposition i believe in all but one occasion

[00:49:56] credit is due here well done from the biggest sharks fan in pennruth that's steve it's a good

[00:50:01] list man very handy and i like like we said i mean i think the things that he's doing now are going

[00:50:08] a little unnoticed because he's not getting the big stats and you know tries and tries his

[00:50:13] but man what he's doing in defense and he's uh the meters he's giving us and the energy

[00:50:18] oh sorry about that it's my love to go to bed not yet my hand just he's just so aggressive

[00:50:24] and like he's finding offloads that are giving us more momentum and he's shutting down plays

[00:50:30] he's it would not look out of place in an origin jersey i reckon okay is there a chance i don't

[00:50:37] think there is but i he'd be on michael maguire's list i reckon not so much the media and you

[00:50:43] know the average punter but i reckon michael maguire would be looking at him okay bell says

[00:50:48] thanks to the pods team needs to sign williams now before someone else gets his ear the lift

[00:50:53] we get from him off the bench is superhero like yeah i mean he's very good and i think it's gonna

[00:51:00] happen so stick with us i don't think you and i are underplaying his role but like the jessie

[00:51:06] ramey thing you're just talking about i think that people are not aware of they're not watching

[00:51:10] our games the the media and the general punter who thinks that he's got problems with his

[00:51:15] hands like i mean i know you're not a wrestling guy he's like brock lesnar he's like unstoppable

[00:51:19] i was bro i was in the brock era i was i was still around brock's got a few issues now he

[00:51:23] does but but he's beast like that's what i'm trying to say i you know i actually think he's starting

[00:51:29] to get the plaudits now like i listen to a lot of footy podcasts and on twitter and

[00:51:34] on social media he's start people are starting to notice how good this guy actually is rcb

[00:51:40] og rcb with the spine looking to do more and by extension hind's doing less it shows me

[00:51:47] this side can go further it's a more balanced side better forward rotation overall very pleasing

[00:51:55] i was in sydney on sunday but at olympic park watching marvel characters fly around at

[00:52:01] quads bank arena dad life in full swing what would that have been i have no idea i was

[00:52:08] i'm looking confused so he was at the arena watching marvel characters flying around some

[00:52:15] sort of show i guess like iron man jumping around the joint spot a man uh the raiders game

[00:52:20] he wants to see his win down there because that's where he's from rcb's got a real love hate relationship

[00:52:27] with the city of camber a particular football team it's been a while since 2018 i'd love for my

[00:52:32] kids to see a sharks win live he's also looking forward to the week after w week

[00:52:38] and he's talking about flano and the improvement in the dragons evan says and i think we asked

[00:52:44] before josh but i'm gonna ask again i told evan we'd ask this again i know you'll know the answer

[00:52:49] are our playing socks a different shade of blue than our jersey and shorts i must admit i don't

[00:52:55] think i've ever looked i'm sorry evan i'll i'll keep an eye i'll go and watch the replay again

[00:53:01] tonight before i go to bed and i'll i'll let you know maybe it's a clinton question or

[00:53:05] something it might be yeah the socks aren't the the first thing on my list but i'll i'll

[00:53:10] put them in now i'll have a look next time i mean evan and and and all of our crew they're all

[00:53:14] jersey shorts socks guys and girls i'm a jersey guy but i mean look i'm not even wearing socks now

[00:53:20] so no i'm not going to tell people what you're wearing actually i'm naked that would be better

[00:53:26] all right alan says what a great performance for the sharks yesterday probably the best 17 fits

[00:53:30] gibbon hat available all year he should stick with this side as long as injuries and

[00:53:34] suspensions allow it's true hunt becomes available but can you drop kufusi he's been the most formidable

[00:53:41] bench he has the most formidable bench in the competition and there'd be a tragedy to alter

[00:53:46] it tragedy alan if it's like him in five out of the seven they'll be well on the way to the

[00:53:53] playoffs playoffs so fingers cross the sharks come out well all the best and stay well up

[00:54:01] that's kind thanks i want to appreciate it yeah i mean there's going to be some tinking with that

[00:54:05] forward pack with guys coming back one guy less is coming back for new community back but

[00:54:11] hunts available to use available even got billy burns available who did a job so

[00:54:17] yeah let's see what happens let's see what happens moving forward would you stick with

[00:54:22] tommy and kufusi starting for the foreseeable future yeah as long as there's no

[00:54:27] negative side there when we play a good pack if they can at least match them i don't mind if they

[00:54:34] don't dominate but if they can go toe to toe with anyone and then those guys come off the bench i

[00:54:40] think it's kind of the way to go i think that's exactly what kufusi starting yeah because he

[00:54:44] just does his job he doesn't miss many tackles he'll you know get a hundred eighty to a hundred

[00:54:48] meters every game and then you bring the the dynamic guys on i saw him today in the flesh

[00:54:53] standing quite close to him he's way bigger in in real life when you're standing with him

[00:54:58] he's a way bigger like those legs i thought he would be my height and no he's way bigger

[00:55:06] you wouldn't want to tackle him tomo said i mentioned in a previous email about our ability

[00:55:11] to hold the ball against the cowboys we held it from for 37 of 41 the rest of the game from

[00:55:19] that was great standard our best performance in recent memory while it's great we need to back this up

[00:55:26] with another and another and another make it a minimum standard for the side if we can play at this

[00:55:32] standard against top teams like penderoth brisman melbourne then we can compete with them in the

[00:55:37] game we'll be there to win in the final 10 minutes also good to see hinds getting back to

[00:55:41] his best form wise words tomo i feel the same way you compete and you're in the game let's

[00:55:49] hope they can keep doing it i've no doubt the coach is drumming into their heads hold the ball

[00:55:53] win the game kira says g'day guys my first time here this year i love how our sharkies are going

[00:55:59] top of the ladder woohoo i love that kale took goo and now stone street are all getting a go

[00:56:05] i have a question uh the chooks are losing players i'm worried if sam stone street and

[00:56:10] caliro will be targeted by them we all know what they are like and the juniors of their own

[00:56:16] but target everyone else's have you heard if they're in the conversation to renew hoping to get

[00:56:22] down to the game on sunday with some of the girls up up first place forever stone street has signed

[00:56:30] i think for a little while i think he's locked up he resigned preseason didn't he yeah

[00:56:36] sometime around then but i think he's good iro i think is off sooner and i would imagine

[00:56:45] i think the great gascold has already said he wants him so really yeah so he's definitely

[00:56:50] going to be noticed i mean i dare say that we want to keep him if we're playing him now i want to

[00:56:54] keep him so i get the feeling if it's gibbons kind of running the shop a little bit like melbourne

[00:57:00] a little bit of the roosters if he wants to keep someone he's going to keep him he'll do whatever

[00:57:04] he can to do it so i would say that that's not going to be a problem with stone street

[00:57:10] i think he knows that he's a developing player much like broden trindle was i think he's going

[00:57:16] to play the long game and then my vibe and it's just my own vibe josh is that i feel like katoa will

[00:57:24] be moved on in a couple of years i don't know two to three and then he'll come straight in

[00:57:30] and it's up to him to kind of buy his time now we love katoa and he's in career best form

[00:57:37] and maybe he resigns but i don't think stone street is going anywhere at the moment to put it that way

[00:57:45] we have paul any word on the williams contract or sir euro oh boy uh he's been brilliant in those two

[00:57:53] games you also love the role syphus playing see the last question please sorry to be so rid

[00:57:59] about that but we think that's what's going on we think that uh they'll be sticking around so

[00:58:06] no official word on that but the dale situation definitely speeds up the williams thing

[00:58:10] i wouldn't expect anything in the next 24 hours but they'll let the dale thing rest

[00:58:15] i dare say they'll have a word to williams in his ear bro this is what's going to happen

[00:58:21] be patient daniel says cambrick will now roll us no trindle big blow to the season i'm only

[00:58:28] laughing because of josh's reaction even if he comes back in a month or two heim's hasn't

[00:58:33] been firing now trindle's gone was good while it lasted yes it's a doom and gloom right now

[00:58:39] so i responded to that i i sent i should say i try to respond to everyone if i don't hopefully get

[00:58:45] to you and respond to you personally i like to pride myself on that but i did respond to daniel

[00:58:50] today and told him to keep his chin up there's a plan and he responded saying it's good to know

[00:58:55] there's a plan i do disagree that heins hasn't been firing i think as josh said before he's

[00:59:00] playing a more classic halfback in the last few weeks the assists have started coming the kicking

[00:59:05] game's good and i have to believe that he's going to step up now that his little mate's not going to

[00:59:09] be there for the short term scott says have you seen the spotify podcast the warrior holic

[00:59:16] i'd love to see something similar from one of you guys let me know what you think it's a mad

[00:59:20] warriors fan doing player by player matchups for the game ahead he reads them using stats

[00:59:26] so scott i wasn't aware of that i had a quick look i'll have another look during the week

[00:59:30] and we'll see what we think about that i mean i'm pretty happy with what we're doing at the moment

[00:59:36] if you don't know and i don't know how you wouldn't know but if you don't know on monday

[00:59:39] mornings we do an episode with kiran we talk about the footy and it's a little bit lighter

[00:59:44] but we talk about the footy we have our show during the week we do interviews we do a bunch

[00:59:49] of stuff so we're going to check it out and if it's good we'll steal the idea but

[00:59:54] uh we do appreciate the suggestion that's for sure we always like to hear what people think

[00:59:59] and scott is also a friend of my childhood friend john i grew up with a guy called john who went to

[01:00:05] we went to primary school together infant school played soccer together literally josh one of

[01:00:10] the coolest people to ever live just a he was a cool kid from when age five shout out to him he let

[01:00:16] me a dork hang out with him for a long time so i've asked scott to pass on my best to john

[01:00:21] luke says what a complete performance i'm loving the team fits is put together surely i'm not the

[01:00:25] only one to put uh struggles to put together uh three two one no you're not i want to put my hand

[01:00:31] up and say i was wrong with iro he's killing it and made that jersey his own bring on the raiders

[01:00:37] up up yeah i mean iro is going really good i think the one thing i'd say is that he's not as scary

[01:00:43] close to the line as talakai still handy but at the moment overall yeah killing it and

[01:00:52] lots of pros there not many cons at all not any cons to be honest

[01:00:56] lee says do we need a four forward bench when we have three big forwards on the bench that

[01:01:00] can play for 40 minutes what are we giving up for this is it time to trial a utility type player

[01:01:05] to cover injuries in big games josh three forwards syphyr is our utility yeah i mean he's there i guess

[01:01:14] we don't want him to be that though do we no but i mean my thing is who else would you have there that

[01:01:21] i mean syphyr can cover both centers both second row and middle whereas if we put on an ackinson

[01:01:28] or a dykes they can only cover the backs so it's you're never going to be perfectly balanced

[01:01:34] so you can't have it both ways i'm really happy with it this way because syphyr is very talented

[01:01:41] and he can do so much for you he could probably like if something drastic happened he could probably

[01:01:46] and this would be ridiculous we saw him play wing last year yeah he did he did a bit of wing

[01:01:51] he could probably do a little baby job at six if something went really wrong he's got the skills

[01:01:56] like ball wise i mean it would be last resort catastrophe might be yeah you'd have to leave

[01:02:01] it to the other guy whoever's left over but he could do a little job there for you so i'm happy

[01:02:07] with how it is at the moment i do love his hit ups off the bench like he just is relentless

[01:02:13] human and williams together i mean when they come on as a double power punch man

[01:02:17] andy says i'm happy with that performance uh first time issue put 80 minutes together

[01:02:22] i'm loving seeing the stacked bench the bench is getting a lot of praise and so it should

[01:02:27] hope you're good andy i used to work with andy steve says what a win that's how you play great

[01:02:33] effort and good discipline the first half we were at our best stone street had a day but we

[01:02:38] would have dreamed about hope euro isn't getting shafted he's doing fine where he is and talakai

[01:02:44] off the bench has been big for us need the same momentum to camber out to play those green

[01:02:49] things uh great win hope we continue down the act stay on top of the mountain up up always

[01:02:55] steve thanks steve i don't think euro is going to get shafted i think he's doing just fine

[01:03:00] roscoe says i'd like to thank the sharks team for listening to your sharks podcast last week

[01:03:06] they obviously heard my plea of an old-fashioned rubbing and did it against a team which we're

[01:03:11] expected to put up a tough battle a near 80 minute performance from the entire team

[01:03:16] euro has cemented his spot in the centers we can see the team is all around better with

[01:03:21] his light feet and power in the centers talakai bringing damaging bulldozing runs from the bench

[01:03:27] so half our audience is worried about euro the other half are like cementing him in that position

[01:03:33] which is lovely he's very busy he he does a lot of work he i do know if you notice at the game

[01:03:40] that he takes the second hit up off the kickoff every time so we have a forward to the hit up

[01:03:44] and then euro comes in and brings it in the middle and gets the set going he's looking for work

[01:03:49] and that's what i was worried about him in the preseason maca says a lot was made at the agm about

[01:03:56] the atmosphere or lack of it at points bet stadium this year and since returning from the disgusting

[01:04:02] jubilee avenue experience i want to get your take on this in your opinion is there a lack

[01:04:08] of atmosphere if so how do we address it love the pods as always keep up the great

[01:04:13] work that's from maca josh i gotta say this year atmosphere has been pretty good generally

[01:04:20] there's been times where you're like come on everyone get it together but i think there's

[01:04:26] been improvements the next malo readout we'll talk about that i believe but i think it's

[01:04:33] something you need to keep building on i don't think you can just be resting on your laurels

[01:04:37] and go well the cowboy's game was fun you know it's circumstantial we're coming first we're

[01:04:42] absolutely whipping them the crowd was ready to go when they're down by eight against whoever on a

[01:04:52] thursday night maybe it's a different vibe i want a consistent vibe which is hard to do i understand

[01:04:58] i like the fact the club is looking into it like i have had several people tell me at the agm that

[01:05:04] it was brought up and what can we do and all this sort of stuff there's different things being

[01:05:08] spoken of so i think as long as the conversation is happening i'm happy i'm happy with the

[01:05:14] conversation happening and we'll get there we'll get to a place where we all want to

[01:05:18] go to and and enjoy but i mean i know you love the atmosphere yeah i've been loving it this year

[01:05:23] i thought the the camber game obviously circumstantial because it was a comeback

[01:05:27] and everything but it was red hot yeah on that on that afternoon and the bulldogs game

[01:05:32] besides maybe the first 10 minutes it really got going like i've been having a lot of fun down there

[01:05:36] this year and seeing a lot of mates and yourself and the shark cast boys like it's been it's been

[01:05:41] a good vibe down there for me yeah i agree and i think that everything they're doing is kind

[01:05:46] of working so you get down there and there's the music happening outside and there's the

[01:05:52] the mermaids and there's other dancers and there's giveaways of little stickers and

[01:05:57] posters and i think oh that's really cool the murals there the girl the new painting which is

[01:06:03] nice the place looks nice i'll say this josh i said to clinton sitting in the seats i said i can't

[01:06:08] believe i'm saying this and you know keep in mind it was the perfect sunset it was everything

[01:06:14] so the the view you would have seen on tv looking that way well i'm pointing it looked pretty good

[01:06:21] like everything was sort of all the building material was kind of cleaned up and it was

[01:06:25] starting to look like something like okay not how i grew up looking at that view but it actually

[01:06:31] started looking like a place where there was business and we might make some money and

[01:06:36] it looked neat and tidy well it's a very unique stadium as well like there's no other stadium in

[01:06:42] the nrl like it and some people might say that's a negative but you know we've got a we've got a

[01:06:46] big hotel sitting right next to it and it just i know on the eye it's just interesting to look at

[01:06:51] when they do the big those you know when channel nine or fox do those big drone shots like with the

[01:06:56] sun going down like it's beautiful like that's suburban footy and yeah the sones street thing

[01:07:00] like all that's like you don't get that at an a and z or you know like that's just that's

[01:07:05] rugby league to me yeah maybe i'm old-fashioned i don't know that's that's why i grew up

[01:07:09] loving the sport and yeah being on the hill on a four four o'clock on a sunday i mean the

[01:07:15] four o'clock sunday games are pretty magical they're built for shark park yeah i'm a night guy i like

[01:07:21] night time i like darkness you know but but those four o'clock games i'm really coming around to

[01:07:26] like it's it's fun to answer um maccas question yeah i think that you can improve it but i think the

[01:07:34] improvements are there to be seen so that's a positive we're gonna get to another another

[01:07:39] question about that but i just want to throw in one from ash it's gone from 2016 feels to 2008

[01:07:45] he promised and then greg bird bretz more i'm absolutely gutted now ash i think we'll

[01:07:52] get up tomorrow and feel a bit brighter about it just i think that's a real instant kind of reaction

[01:07:57] and i relate to it like of course of course the first thing you think of is oh no is not

[01:08:01] his mental well-being or whatever else it's like west grood we're top of the table he's part

[01:08:08] of the deal who's gonna play six so i completely get it i think it's different to that in a lot of

[01:08:14] ways particularly i mean the greg bird thing is a whole other story we're not going to touch but

[01:08:19] it's different to that for starters and you know why the seamal of things are freak injury and yet

[01:08:25] it kind of ruined things late in the year but i guess the good thing here josh and hopefully

[01:08:31] doesn't backfire but the good thing is there's time to work it out we're not going into a

[01:08:36] home semifinal without our half back we're not going into like art oval in the top four fighting

[01:08:43] for a top four spot with five rounds to go without our star back row it's different i hope you feel

[01:08:49] better soon ash about it all i know you will lastly louis who's a great listener of ours

[01:08:55] i want to talk about the music on sunday at the game i thought it was the best in a recent

[01:09:00] memory the boys ran out to he comes the boom by nely some may disagree but i loved it the song has

[01:09:07] become a song synonymous with roby league as it was a soundtrack to the most to most nrl big hits

[01:09:14] highlights on youtube between 05 and 10 i say we keep it as our round out song the boys seem

[01:09:19] pumped up and it's set a great vibe so just on that i disagree i want a different song

[01:09:26] and i hope you hear a different one too but the fact we didn't hear it in the weekend i think maybe

[01:09:33] means nely is here to stay but well that's a tbc but other highlights included let me entertain

[01:09:39] you by robby williams at halftime i'm each way on a robby but we ran out to that song the early

[01:09:44] 2000s that bring back memories of that time a good nostalgia hit now on that i've got to be

[01:09:50] negative i'm sorry okay i think he's a talented dude thank you it's not about robby something

[01:09:57] about that song really irks me i've always banged on about the fact that they changed the league's

[01:10:03] club sign to let us entertain you that really you know annoys me oh boy something about i don't

[01:10:07] know why i'm a weirdo but also yeah i don't i think i didn't want that to be our runout

[01:10:13] song like 15 years ago so i've held that garage it's like come on why we're running at the robby

[01:10:17] williams some years we were not very entertaining you know anyway i respect louis's point of view right

[01:10:25] i thought sweet caroline was well timed during a halftime break it was a good vibe in the crowd

[01:10:31] but everyone seemed to sing along quite organically and that was true now i'm a fan of that song

[01:10:37] i'm a fan of playing that which goes against what other people think so obviously i'm the wrong

[01:10:41] one in this story but i noticed i noticed at halftime it was kind of cool the way they timed it i can't

[01:10:48] explain to you what they did they did something and everyone just they didn't really push it they played

[01:10:53] it and everyone's kind of saying along was it the fact that we were winning 24 he said it he said

[01:10:58] it could be that as well also the junior league relay race at halftime was rigged because some teams

[01:11:05] didn't have girls running komo was robbed check the tape wow allegations yeah he's a great man louis

[01:11:13] he's a he and his dad are big listeners of the show they're great gentlemen i like their vibe

[01:11:19] and uh if he says all this stuff i'm going to take it on board if he wants nely then i'm open to it

[01:11:25] if he wants to hear robby williams so be it let's go for it but yeah that goes in theme with macca

[01:11:32] and his game his game day experience so um tell me about this josh the big hits youtube thing

[01:11:38] of magigie oh it was just uh i think it's still happening now that all you know junior kids when

[01:11:44] they're putting packages together for clubs to look at that was the song that everyone used and

[01:11:47] they were timed the here comes the with the hit anyway it still happens now in all sports

[01:11:52] what's if i watch tyrone pitch he's under 20 i'm sure it'd have it yeah interesting i'm so old

[01:11:59] all right why don't we take a real quick break and we'll talk about the game and then we'll send

[01:12:05] you home to sleep right back after the break everyone that was a bit of a production meeting on air

[01:12:13] shark cast is supported by the best and most honest real estate agent in the southern shire

[01:12:17] jason hoars from crips and crips real estate he's an expert in the keringbar region and has

[01:12:22] his eye all across the shire lifelong sharks fan and supporter of this podcast if you're looking

[01:12:27] to buy or sell in the region the person you need to be talking to is jason hoars from crips and

[01:12:33] crips real estate call him on 0410 417450 that's 0410 417450 jason hoars crips and crips real estate

[01:12:46] all right just run the home straight here it's been an emotional long episode

[01:12:50] hope everyone's uh sticking with us having a good listen we've got a game to play that's the

[01:12:55] good news camber versus chronal in camber sunday 405 p.m prime time football if you will and we're

[01:13:03] going down there to win josh we've got some changes seyoni katoa is back sam stone street

[01:13:09] extended bench will play for a lower grade dan atkinson rushed into five eighth trindle will

[01:13:16] not play he stood down the pack remains the same the bench remains the same

[01:13:23] williams talakai rudolf hamlin welly extended bench of marwini harotti tukuhata pua

[01:13:30] sam stone street roce hunt and kade dykes it's a fairly fit team there obviously the five eighth

[01:13:37] is missing the raiders are in worse shape than us josh their fullback is chevy stewart young

[01:13:47] jr. actually from the area young their five eighth is pretty good ethan strange he's super young

[01:13:55] their halfback is playing his first game for them this year he's from manly k o weeks and he

[01:14:02] has not played halfback in the nrl level in fact he's only played a handful of games at cup level

[01:14:12] at that position they're missing a bunch of their spine we're missing one

[01:14:18] we're coming in with really good form theirs is indifferent we've already defeated them once

[01:14:23] they had a pretty bad loss to the broncos last week i am massively of the opinion that they are

[01:14:29] a really average team even when they're fully fit and i said this you know four weeks ago and we

[01:14:33] played them they play very meat and potatoes although with the young guys in the spine who

[01:14:39] knows what's going to happen uh chevy stewart is a lot better than what he showed last week in that

[01:14:43] first half he had a game very similar our own ronaldo up at suncorp he's better than that

[01:14:51] having said that i would be testing the heck out of him with the kicks i really would and

[01:14:56] i'd be putting the hits on him tough kid not the biggest kid you've ever seen and i just think

[01:15:02] other than that you just got to play how we've been playing all year and they'll

[01:15:06] they'll get the job done if they hold the ball the sharks they win the game they're just too good

[01:15:10] they're too good when i say they're too good i'm saying they're too good for cambra

[01:15:15] cambra are going to complete their sets and kick the ball they're going to tackle as hard

[01:15:19] as they can they're going to kick the ball a little bit there's a little bit more of the unknown

[01:15:24] because of that spine but it's unknown for a reason as well so that's where i'm at with this game

[01:15:31] i don't have a prediction about how much how it's going to happen i do think we win though

[01:15:36] yeah echo your sentiments sam i think if we play how we've been playing we win and win well

[01:15:42] it's a massive loss with jamao foggity out who's been playing really well i just i can see them

[01:15:47] being a little rudderless and a little directionless without him there with two young halves

[01:15:52] ethan strang who is a really he's going to be a fantastic player not a lot of passing and

[01:15:57] organizing in his game he's a runner and he's very good at it he's a good defender

[01:16:02] that's going to play into our hands i mean kaw weeks played a couple of games at fallback

[01:16:07] for manly i think couple on the wing couple off the bench like he's not a seven yeah that's good

[01:16:12] for us we've got to be we've got to take advantage of these things and unlike that tiger's game we

[01:16:16] can't take anything for granted not saying we did but we saw what that result uh what happened

[01:16:21] with that result yeah i don't think that's gonna be a problem no so i think it's it's gonna

[01:16:26] be a case of if we lose we're gonna beat ourselves so yeah i mean they still have a okay forward pack

[01:16:32] i've got a good for particularly joseph topini uh it's it's it's a it's a workman like pack like

[01:16:39] it's it's decent i don't think it's as good as what he'll say it is but it is there are some

[01:16:43] standouts there hot and young he's good every handy he's good i think the raiders will try and

[01:16:49] play a really crummy game of footy they want to slow things down it'll be through the guts

[01:16:55] they'll try and crash over plays it's gonna be boring football for them but that's the only

[01:16:59] way they're gonna try and beat us is grind it out like i just think if we if we complete

[01:17:05] well kick well do all that stuff but get down to their 30 meter zone and then do our trick stuff

[01:17:13] i think we're going to hold it out yeah i think we'll do it pretty easily i think that particularly

[01:17:17] with hinds running the show the outside backs are just too good i mean maybe kennedy needs

[01:17:22] a step up a little bit more even even beyond last week i'm not suggesting akinson won't do a good

[01:17:29] job like i think you'll have a role to play but also i don't expect him to win the game for us so

[01:17:35] other guys are gonna have to inadvertent commas help him out for that kind of role

[01:17:40] but i think he'll be just fine and but i do think that our edge is just with the experience

[01:17:44] they have now hundred games all playing with each other playing in junior grades

[01:17:48] i just think it's gonna be too much yeah i think with akinson will be a very simple

[01:17:53] game plan make your tackles run the ball kick when you need to and give the ball early to

[01:17:59] you guys when they need it and i think that's that's all he needs to do he doesn't need to

[01:18:03] be a superstar so nico will take over a little bit more do a little bit more kicking but other

[01:18:09] than that nothing really changes like we slip in someone else to trindle everyone else is still

[01:18:13] there another week for u l e another week for toby the forwards are playing well we contain those

[01:18:18] forwards yeah where it's all good i think it is about the forwards i also think if you look at

[01:18:23] trindle's game he's been playing great this is not a knock on him but the five eighth game he plays

[01:18:33] it's not the most complicated version of a five eighth like there's not a lot of trick shots

[01:18:38] he's just really good at what he does so if akinson can come in and replicate that as well

[01:18:43] as do his own thing be his own man but he doesn't need to be doing like massive cutout passes or

[01:18:50] chips and chases and the rest of it in a lot of ways i would just say go watch a lot of

[01:18:56] trindle's tape and kind of be him because that's all we really need and if you watch him yeah he's

[01:19:04] got the running game they're both got a running game he's quicker than trindle so hopefully

[01:19:09] hopefully he can set him up with with his with his pace he can pass the ball and i think he's

[01:19:14] going to be fine and yeah i'd be pretty disappointed if we lose this game yes i would i i'd love to see

[01:19:21] akinson get his first try after getting snubbed against cambera a few weeks ago so i'd like to see

[01:19:26] him get over um not telling anyone to gamble but no um like that would make me happy just to

[01:19:32] see me did you gamble last week i may have had a little flutter on samuel um your namesake so

[01:19:39] was very happy with that um but maybe a little little one on daniel on the weekend yeah right

[01:19:45] just to speaking of inexperience he's played 19 minutes of football yeah which and i think

[01:19:51] a lot before that it was like two minutes it was like two and one or something yeah so i'm really

[01:19:56] looking forward to him getting a full game of nrl into him he'll i think he'll really feel

[01:19:59] like he belongs after that yeah you know i'll go out there and play well kid like he deserves

[01:20:04] he deserves a crack yeah and let's not forget they signed him to a two-year deal they saw him as

[01:20:10] something he he isn't necessarily low it's here uh he's just young and they saw enough in him to

[01:20:18] give him a two-year deal so there's belief there i can't state that enough this is not some fluke

[01:20:25] selection okay yes trindle is a shoe in if he's available he's not available this is who

[01:20:31] they think is the next best guy to go we'll see how he goes in the weekend if it's an absolute

[01:20:37] disaster they may need to rush someone else up to speed but i don't a i don't think it's been

[01:20:43] a disaster and b i think that's a whole other conversation for another time uh sharks to win

[01:20:50] hope they win well it's always i can't tell you how stress-free the weekend was dude like at

[01:20:54] the game how was it we're just chilling like it was like none of us smoke but i felt like

[01:20:59] we should have had cigars or something you know just sitting back and some whiskey and just it would

[01:21:03] have been amazing because uh it was it was chill it was real chill it was a really good way to watch

[01:21:09] footy there's not a lot of times as a sharks fan you can do that but this was pretty enjoyable yeah

[01:21:18] so any game that i can give us like that as a fan it's good it's good it's good so uh we

[01:21:26] appreciate everyone listening in appreciate your support don't hesitate to be in touch you
